In Search of the True Foundation

Matthew 7:7

When God created heaven and earth and all things, He must certainly have set as His standard a foundation that, even if one wanted to, could not be changed. We cannot deny that He created human beings with a purpose in view and created all things with a purpose in view.

If we are those created under such a purpose, then in our minds, in our bodies, in our daily lives, and in our ideals, we must certainly possess a thoroughgoing foundation that no one can move.

The Person Who Must Become a True Footing

Yet when we examine ourselves today, we cannot deny the fact that our daily lives, our bodies, our minds, and, going further, our hearts do not stand upon an unchanging foundation that, even if one wanted to, cannot be changed. We are alike in not possessing an unchanging footing.

If God, the Absolute Being, created the creation centering upon some view of purpose, then the existence so created must also possess, under that purpose, a footing that one cannot change. Yet that we today are not so demonstrates the fact that we bear fallen nature.

The purpose God sought to accomplish, the heavenly footing that even if one were to fall, could not be changed, through the Fall, could not form a bond with humankind, and they went astray. This is a fact that, even if one would deny it, cannot be denied.

We often say that God is love.

If God, who is love, loves human beings upon this earth, is there one who possesses an unchanging footing by which he can receive that love? And we say that God is the truth; before the true God, where is the existence that possesses a true footing? And if God is life and the unchanging ideal, when one asks whether there is upon this earth one who possesses a footing that can inherit that life and ideal, one cannot but answer that there is none.

Upon this earth, however outstanding and powerful one may be, however much one may boast of oneself, when one lays open his bosom, there is not one person who can stand forth with confidence saying that he can be a counterpart of unchanging footing before the absolute value, or the goodness, or the life, or the situation that God desires.

If there is a Creator who is the principal substance of true life, true love, and true goodness, He cannot but think to destroy the environment that does not possess such a footing and to make it, in some form, into a true ground, a true footing.

The providence that is at work for this is the providence of salvation, and as a means and method to accomplish that salvation, religion has come forth—this we must understand.

Who must become the unchanging footing in which God, the Creator of all created things, can rejoice?

It must be none other than the human being among the myriad created beings. So it is when we look at it centering upon life, and so it is when we look at it centering upon God's unchanging love. Yet the human being, who must become on an eternal footing—even if one would be unchangeable—before God, is not so in the lamentation.

If, before God, who is absolute life and absolute love, we had become on an unchanging footing, there could be no unhappiness, there could be no death, there could be no suffering.

The existence that has met all the absolute conditions — absolute life, absolute love, absolute ideal, absolute goodness — cannot, even if one would, be made to bow.

The Conditions for Being a True Footing

A God who must appear with absolute love, a God who must appear with absolute goodness, a God who must appear with absolute life and an absolute ideal, a God who must appear before all created things with absolute value—such a God has come to stand in a position where He cannot use the term “absolute.” How great must His distress be and how great His lamentation and sorrow? We cannot help but consider this.

If God conducts the providence facing the earth, then until human beings have prepared all the ideal conditions and become on a complete footing, He must certainly carry out the work of driving them, whether by lifting the rod and striking or by some method, toward the place He purposes.

There is no human being who wishes to perish. No person wishes to perish. The more outstanding one is, the more one is loath to perish. In the historical course, many heroes and martyrs boasted of their power with grandeur, but all were broken. Their desires were not realized as they had wished. And meanwhile, we cannot deny that history, while dividing as it passes through era after era, has been moving toward one clear purpose.

Do you think the position and footing on which you yourselves now stand are perfect?

They are not. The one who boasts in an imperfect place shall certainly meet a day of lamentation and submission. Therefore, those who go seeking the true conscience, the true ideal, examine themselves deeply in the mind, measure their feelings deeply in the mind, and wander deeply in the mind, seeking their value.

The prophets and forerunners came and went, but none of them passed away having resolved all the issues centering upon themselves; those issues remain as serious issues for us today.

Then what must we do?

When asked whether we have the confidence to stand on an unchanging footing before the eternal heavenly Way (天道), we cannot but answer that we are not so; therefore, you must re-examine and re-analyze the society and the world in which you live and lead them to a new, unchanging footing.

Let us look at the stage of life we are now in. People often wish to assert themselves. They wish to assert something of themselves, wish to display the height of their value, and wish to leave behind something of themselves.

All that they desire may appear as a phenomenon of the era on the level plane, but the issue is what kind of relationship they form with the unbroken history that flows down vertically. Here, the historical issue intervenes, and the human relationships and morality that have come down through history become the issue.

Centering upon human relationships and morality, the conscience demands a certain purpose—that is, an object—by which it can pass through that standard.

Therefore, one must establish the standard of conscience centering upon some purpose. Unless one establishes the standard of conscience centering upon some purpose, the era changes. The world changes through the process of revolution.

In one human being's conducting his life, unless he becomes a self in which the body can move by the mind and the daily emotions can move by a consciousness of purpose by which he can run toward one goal, he cannot say he lives upon a complete ground of standing.

Even when we look at one nation or at one people, the goals upon which they look—whether a thousand or ten thousand of them—must not all differ. Though a thousand persons or ten thousand persons may differ, the goal must converge into one.

The Human Being Who Must Face One Goal

Human beings have feelings of joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure; if these are not feelings felt through a consciousness of purpose, there can be no peace upon this earth. There can be no happiness.

Therefore, even though skin colors differ, situations differ, and lives differ, the goal of hope, the purpose long awaited, must be the same, crossing peoples and crossing history.

Yet look. As peoples differ, their purposes differ also, and their forms of life differ also. They are moving in countless different ways.

If God orchestrates the providence to save such people, He must certainly gather them up in one direction. To gather them up, daily life must be gathered.

Together with gathering daily life, even the emotions felt must be gathered. From daily life to emotions, the entirety of all dimensions must be gathered. Here, all things are involved.

Under such a purpose, to seek a new, unchanging foundation, God has been at work in providence.

If it is a historical course advancing toward the unchanging goal, we have not arrived at the destination but are on the way to the destination.

The religion in which we believe, the ideals a nation asserts, or worldwide ideals, and the goal that some organization, some people, or some nation looks for and hopes for—all stand in a transitional position.

Has even the Christianity in which we believe today been furnished with a result-content that can fully blend with and meet the purpose? It has not. It stands in a transitional position. Since this single transitional stage remains for us, we must pass through this process and reach the destination. That path is by no means a level path. It may be a path of overturning convolutions.

Therefore, the one who knows that history changes according to the era must not regard the position in which he stands as a place of happiness. To be content in that position is to perish. Why? Because this world is not yet a world in which the purpose has been accomplished, nor a place that has been settled as the unchanging foundation. The course we must walk remains. The wider the scope grows, the more complex the content that blocks our way.

If one who pursues learning sets up the entire goal centering upon learning and feels happiness through it, he may feel the happiness of an era, but he cannot rejoice in historical happiness and become an eternal thing that can be left as the unchanging foundation in which God conducts His providence. The position of being content in the present cannot be an unchanging position; it changes.

Today, about the nations is such; religion, likewise, is such; and societal systems and all things stand in such a transition. Only by passing through such hardships can a complete foundation, a complete footing, be established.

The goal that God the Creator has established cannot change.

However, the era may change and however history may pass through the course of convolutions, God, who is the center of the conscience of all people and the goal of the hope of all people, can by no means change.

From eternity past to eternity future, He cannot change. Therefore, He has said, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” It is indeed so.

The One Who Must Have Faith Must Stand in a Position Unrelated to the Judgment

The human being fell from the course, advancing from motive to result. Then, in the historical course flowing through convolutions, what kind of path must one walk?

One stands in the fate of having to choose one of two paths: either to seek the direction of the result or, conversely, to seek the direction of the cause. To be content with the present is to perish.

One must take one of two directions: either go in seeking the world of purpose or go in seeking the world of causes.

Here, what pursues the world of cause is philosophy and religion, and what pursues the world of result is the natural sciences. From which of these two paths can one feel the consciousness of purpose, can one be aware of the existence of the Absolute Being, or can one boast that one stands as the unchanging footing of the Absolute Being? This is the unchanging proposition set before fallen humankind.

From this standpoint, when we look back upon ourselves, in what kind of position do we stand? In what kind of position do I stand? However much one may enjoy the life of the process, if it has no relation to the purpose, it has no meaning at all.

If the life of bygone days has no relation to the purpose, then the more complex the process, the more the distress, the more—when the time of purpose comes—it becomes only suffering. It becomes nothing but conditions of hesitation, conditions blocking the path one must walk.

Because God knows this, in walking the path of human life, He has insisted that one come knowing only one thing, simply and thoroughly. Therefore, religion is simple. “Believe in God!” — God has led humankind, urging, “Believe unconditionally,” even though one does not know what is there.

Yet as the era passes and people's intelligence develops, they have come to feel that this does not at all accord with reason. When looking at all phenomena, it seems there is no content. Therefore, in the Last Days at the end of the age, believers cannot but be driven by the currents of the world and cannot but become the object of criticism.

But do not despair. The transitional course shall certainly pass; let us not despair because we are criticized in the passing process. Hold the conviction that you can tread upon and cross over the passing history. Hold a faith by which you can tread upon and cross over this complex environment, this process, that shall in any case pass. If one lives with the conviction that one shall not change, regardless of what anyone says, that is enough.

Even believing in God unconditionally is good. To believe unconditionally, one must believe, having determined that He is the Alpha and the Omega God, the God of the beginning and the end. This may be regarded as faith that has transcended the historical course. There is reason in establishing a blind view of faith.

If we set the two letters “faith” upon the unchanging footing that God desires, there is no need to believe in a complex way.

If God established faith, one must go forth with a view of faith that conforms to His original Heart. Yet is there such a believer? There is none.

However, the Last Days may come, and however there may be judgment in the Last Days, one must be able to say that the judgment has no relation to me. To be so, what must one do?

One must stand in a place where one can say that all sins arising upon this earth today, or any matter related to the state of sin, have no relation whatsoever to me. But is it so? One repents and again sins and repents. We cannot find faith that says it has no relation to sin.

Therefore, one must be able to clarify, “Since such an era of currents has come, beginning from such a motive and passing through such a process, we go to such a world of purpose.”

However worldwide Christianity may have become today, on the day it cannot do this, it must be broken certainly.

The religious people of this present era cannot resolve all things from the position in which they stand. From here, the shorter the remaining course until they advance to a new angle and a new direction, the more they must possess one of two things—either a faith by which they can tread upon and cross over the currents that sweep upon them all at once, or content by which they can cut through them. Without one of these, they perish.

The Will of God That Does Not Change

From this standpoint, we must clarify the historical man of faith. We must clarify who the historical man of faith was, and who is the man of faith of this era. Watch and see whether the words of the one speaking here are right or not.

Who is the historical man of faith?

Who is the man of faith who, as a representative of a people raised by God in place of the era, can stand as the unchanging footing leading the people forward? Who is the unchanging footing that can lead the family forward?

Who is the unchanging footing that can sustain the individual?

And who is the unchanging footing that can stand in place of the world? Who is the unchanging footing that can appear as the bride before the Lord who comes in the Last Days?

Therefore, one must think of history. Here lies the cause of pursuing the historical loyal subject and the historical sage.

So it is also when one lives following some new ideal in the present. Running about recklessly, one knows not into what pit one shall fall.

If there is a God who has established the great universe and established the great view of purpose, what is the historical original footing upon which He gazes? What is the unchanging footing of religion? This is the issue. The purpose of studying the Bible and praying lies here.

Even if one has the power to gather and disperse millions of crowds at once, that is of no use. Therefore, in the historical course, there has been a revolution. Where is one who wishes to perish?

Where is one who wishes to give up his position?

There is none. Yet when one must turn, one cannot but turn. Those who have entered the pitiable place are pitiable, but God's will does not change.

Returning to reality and looking at the world, democracy and communism are confronting one another. Here, we must clarify which is the result and which is the cause. Once one has caused some matter, only by restoring the state before that matter was caused can one again start out.

What must humankind seek today, placed in such a pitiable and tragic environment? They must seek the conditions by which, establishing a new viewpoint, they can once again weigh things. They must clarify, in today's reality, which is cause and which is result, and advance toward where they can pass through the cause; if not, then at least toward where they can pass through the result. Otherwise, they perish. They perish utterly.

Communism today cannot clarify the result, nor can it clarify the cause.

Democracy, too, cannot clarify cause and result. Then who shall clarify this? What must come forth here is religion. Some religion must come forth and assert, “You stand in the process beginning from such a motive and advancing toward such a result,” and establish it as a standard of clarification that the majority can publicly acknowledge. That standard of clarification must end not with humanism but with theism.

Look. Up to the First World War, the struggle was a struggle centering upon the nation and, at the same time, an economic struggle — that is, a struggle for the marketing of the world. It was a fight to seize the external environment, the land. And in the Second World War, the fight was to seize people.

Then, after seizing the land and seizing people, what shall be seized next? Are all who are people real individuals? Not all who are called struggle—that are real individuals. Only one with an upright conscience is a real person.

Then what is the standard of the upright conscience?

It can tread upon and rise above history, can tread upon and rise above the era, and can guide the goal of the future.

Even if some -ism asserts something and gathers the surrounding multitudes, unless it produces a person who feels happiness in the mind and feels that his value appears in the heavens, it shall pass.

After the era of seizing people and gathering people, what era comes?

The era of gathering the minds of each person has come. That era is the era of mindism. In the direction facing goodness, the human mind is unchanged whether a thousand years ago or ten thousand years ago. The motion centering upon the mind must not differ.

If this is right, both you and I must run with our minds toward that place. In running, it is not that one runs for a day and is finished, but that even though one's life is cut off, one must run. Therefore, it must be an "-ism" that, while gathering the mind, also stirs up the impact by which the mind can set out toward eternity.

The Course of Restoration That Goes Searching for the Unchanging Foundation of the Heart

The mind is not restricted by time and space. Therefore, once it is moved, the conviction arises to run to the end, crossing the ridge of life and crossing all things of the era until one reaches some conclusion. An -ism that can stir up such a movement must come forth. Going further, to make such a mind greater, the heart is needed.

The mind by which a parent loves a child, the mind by which a child works for the parent — no matter how great a person, none can block these. No man of power, no man of authority, can block them, restrain them, or change them. Why? Because they move by the absolute principle of nature.

The minds of a thousand persons, ten thousand persons, are level; but within this mind, there must be a heart into which God can come saying, “I am pleased,” into which humankind can leap saying, “We are pleased," and into which all things of heaven and earth can leap saying, “We are pleased.”

The original meaning of love, by which one loves earnestly with that mind, is not for one's own child alone. Because that mind has communicated with the Heart of Heaven, the one who holds such a mind sees, just as God sees, all humankind as brothers and as children. In the place of passing through that heart, all people are brothers, and all people are members of my body.

Unless an unchanging dynamic that can, with such feeling, bind together all people is established as an unchanging foundation upon this earth, centering upon one existence, together with our ideal, the affairs of the world will not be resolved. The one who, decisively resolving this, can stand as a completely unchanging footing—speaking in Christian terms — is the bride.

The bride who shall attend the Lord who is to come. Would the Lord receive as a bride one who changes from moment to moment? He would not. Absolutely, he would not.

Even though my material things are taken away, my body taken away, and my mind taken away, there must appear upon this earth one who can say, “This love of mine cannot, by anything, be moved — it is absolute; this heart is God's, the earth's, humankind's.” Then through such a one, all matters of the world shall be unraveled. So the principle has been established.

It is not the consciousness revolution of which the communists speak. The consciousness revolution is not the issue. Beyond that, religion has a responsibility it must carry out in the hereafter.

What has religion done today for the sake of the world?

Of course, there has been a little, but it has not truly carried out the mission of a religion established by Heaven. But hereafter it must. When all has passed and become exhausted, gathering the mind once again, it must conduct the great march toward the heavenly law. God, looking toward that time, is preparing.

Today's believers, also embracing the ideal of a new heaven and a new earth, are coming forth looking toward that time as their hope.

You all look at someone like Job. Even if his property, his children, and all that was his were taken away, his mind toward God did not change. Even if all his material things were taken away, his beloved children taken away, and all things belonging to him taken away, he did not stir.

In the same way, we too must be able to say that, before any fear of the environment, my mind that is for God and that loves God cannot be made to bow.

To find such an unchanging foundation, the human being is wandering through the course of restoration, and God, too, is taking hold of the human beings on the course of restoration and pioneering that foundation.

Up to now, human beings have fought to seize land and fought to seize people. Materialism is a theory that seeks to drag away the body of the human being.

There is no mind, and there is no heart-based ideal that can journey together with the eternal ideal and the great purpose of the heavenly law. To establish such an ideal is the mission of religion.

Expanding such an ideal, looking toward one time, one era, one century in which we can appear in place of the world or in place of heaven and earth, God has been at work in the providence up to now.

The Daily Life That Must Be Re-examined

Then let us think once about ourselves. You are eating and living. Yet can you prove your life to others, saying, “One must live like this”?

Facing your sons and daughters, can you prove your life by saying, “If you are to be my son or daughter, you must live like this”? Or, facing those who follow you as some leader, can you prove your life by saying, “You must do this and that”? You cannot. You shall only say in words that one must live so and so. Such a leader is not needed.

One must be able to say, “One must live like this. This is the result and, at the same time, the root. The human being must, in any case, pass through that place.” Then no new ideal is needed. It is in the transitional phenomenon that one is overturning to resolve this.

You must re-perceive and re-analyze the life you live. When you eat breakfast in the morning and step out to your workplace, stick out one foot and ask, “You wretched foot, are you walking toward an environment of life that can keep step with the world of the great heavenly ideal?” — You shall not be able to answer that you are. Pitiable human beings.

However outstanding one may swagger and prattle, one is a pitiable human being. Since life is so, society is so; since society is so, the nation is so; since the nation is so, one cannot trust the present world. The mind cannot find a place to rest.

You are like a reed shaken by the wind. You are people pushed westward when the wind blows from the east, and northward when it blows from the south. Tossed this way and that. You are worthless beings who cannot place all your conduct before the heavenly law.

Going on so, what shall become of you?

In the end, who can guarantee that, broken, it shall not conclude in God's sorrow and humankind's sorrow?

“Unchanging footing, true footing, appear! True foundation, open the door of my mind, open the door of my body and life, and seek me out!” In this critical era of being swept up by worldwide fear and threat, if there is anything we may cry out with a true conscience, it is only this.

When we cry, “True footing, appear before these people! True foundation, be opened before these people!” — Into this all things enter. It becomes the true national soil, the true sovereignty, the true citizenry, the true institutions, the true individual, the true culture. We must mercilessly criticize the present self that is dancing like a scarecrow and leap beyond it.

Who can enable this to happen?

There must be some movement that can stir up such an impact. There must come forth one who can stir up the impact of crossing over a present that has not accomplished its purpose and has lost even its motive. Is it not so?

“Persecuted multitudes, do not despair. Driven multitudes, do not lose hope. History has been revolutionized through the multitudes who were driven and pursued; if you stand upon the radiant historical foundation upon which our forebears walked, do not despair.

If you have something by which, passing past, and crossing the present, you can form a bond with tomorrow, fight powerfully.” — crying out so, enduring and tempering ourselves, when in the Last Days the worldwide phenomenon of being driven and pursued unfolds, even if we cannot become the motive or the result of preparing the turning point of history, we must at least become a multitude that, in the perishing humankind, makes them rise and cross over or makes them turn around.

Today, you have come seeking the narrow gate. You have come seeking the Unification Church, which is struck and criticized from every side. But do not expect anything.

Our mission is, in such a historical turning point, to become one of two: either the cause or the result.

If we cannot, we must at least become apostles who can sound the bugle of the march toward the cause, or sound the bugle of the march toward the result. If there is a religion, an institution, a people, a sovereignty that can take up at least one of these missions, it shall absolutely not perish.

The History That Seeks Out the Person Who Can Pass Through Motive and Purpose

Look. When God created heaven and earth, did He create without purpose?

He had by all means a purpose of creation. The purpose of creation is not merely for the individual to enjoy alone. As the individual rejoices, the individual sings of the value of the whole, and the whole, hearing that song, rejoices. So it must be.

The whole is for shining upon the one, and the one is for shining upon the whole. So it has been established.

From this standpoint, the advanced nations that govern with some -ism, some thought, standing in the position of the whole, this can be said to be for the sake of helping the small nations.

Yet when they cannot fulfill such a responsibility, they perish. Hereafter, a nation like America must completely open up its bundle and live together with those undeveloped peoples, rejoice together with them, and be able to weep together with them. They must be able to say, “Your happiness is our happiness; your distress is our distress.”

Otherwise, they shall be stabbed on the side. Therefore, communism arose. It cannot but arise. Even as a means, if there is a God, it must arise.

From such a standpoint, I think this Word is most fitting for this era. Look at the young men and women on the streets, swept along like the waves, or those who claim to be educated; lay open their bosoms and see what is there. See what remains. They cannot revive the nation or the world. They cannot.

Therefore, I wish to cry out to the religious people. God is the cause and, at the same time, the result. To what degree do you know His value?

Has your life become one centering upon that value, your body centering upon that value, your mind centering upon that value, your heart centering upon that value?

To what degree are you displaying that value? You are displaying nothing. And yet you say that God moves only in your church. Think about it.

Would God enter into your daily life and become a servant?

Stop the trifling talk that says, “God is the God of our church; some other denomination is heretical.” Watch and see how long the one who asserts so endures.

People only know how to advance, but they do not know that there are those following behind. If the one who walks ahead does not continue to advance, the one following behind treads upon the one ahead and crosses over.

Going on the course of fate where we must march, one cannot help but become a tragic figure. Do not think that, by your subjective conception, God Himself is the one running the affairs.

You all, this Unification Church has now come forth as one denomination and is receiving every kind of persecution. Even so, it is good. But one must not think that God's will is accomplished according to the subjective conceptions of one individual.

Such thinking is far from God's intended motive and far from His purpose. Therefore, if there comes forth something that can cry out, “Let us go centering upon motive and purpose,” that is the last thing. The last place.

If there comes forth a movement that, with motive and purpose, can cry out across the world, through it the world shall be gathered. Undoubtedly, that is the standard God desires, and it is the resolving of the han bound up in the course of restoration.

You must clearly understand that, however one may be driven this way and that, this is the fate of humankind that must in any case be released.

Even in restoring fallen humankind, the motive is God. The purpose, too, converges upon God. Then who leads the process forward? It is the human being. Not events recorded in history, but the human being.

What is the existence that can grasp both cause and purpose?

It is not the history of humankind, nor a societal system. It is the human being.

Therefore, history is a blood-stained course to clarify and prove the human being who can pass through cause and motive, and to make him take that position. We cannot help but see it so.

Does that mean, then, that the human being can drive history and change it as he pleases? By no means. Why? You cannot turn back your motive, and you cannot do as you please with the result-phenomenon.

Do you have the power to seek your motives yourselves?

If so, you would be the Creator. Are we able, transcending time, to turn back at will the motive of the mind that wells up without our knowing? We are not.

We cannot do as we please with our minds. You are not the motive. And, can you do as you please with any result-phenomenon? Can you avoid it? If you wish that something not be so, can you avoid it? Therefore, one cannot speak loudly.

The Final Footing That God Seeks

You are human beings who cannot turn back the motive and result. You are no more than a fallen clan branded with the mark.

However loudly you may speak, it is nothing. What is needed here is the subject of the motive and the subject of the result. Motive and result must give and receive from one another.

I must stand in a position where, becoming a single center, I receive the mind of God, who would be that center, and where I can turn my mind toward all things. Then the issue of motive and result shall all be resolved.

The mind comes and goes with the motive-side God, and the body comes and goes with the result-side world; in the end, on the right hand we attend to the God of motive, on the left hand we attend to the God of result. Here lies the meaning by which God created the world. This is what is called the relationship of subject and object.

You can never disregard the motive-side subject and the result-side environment centered upon God. God's purpose is, centering upon the human being, to bind together the result-side environment and the motive. With what? Not with human relations and morality.

With the parent-child bond by which one can pass through God's Heart, the family bond — that is, with the bond of the family—binds them together. This is the final footing that God seeks.

You all, look. When you return home, there are children.

Can you make those children your eternal footing?

You cannot. Above are the parents. But those parents also have not become an unchanging foundation. Your daily life is so; society is so; humankind is so. But in any case, this environment must be settled and replaced with a new one.

Then what is God's final purpose?

Establishing sons and daughters with love, making a tribe, making a people, making a citizenry—to what end? It is so that God may become the Subject of heaven and earth and that, through His sons and daughters, He may have dominion over the tribe, the people, the citizenry, and heaven and earth, and the whole created world. That is, He seeks to make beloved sons and daughters into the material of the true, the footing of the true.

If there is such a purpose, then He shall certainly advance toward such a world; therefore, we who lead a life of faith, placing this God before us — how must we believe? Stop the faith that says, “I shall believe in God and go to Paradise.”

The one who asserts that the individual loses his friends. So it is. The one who advances under family-firstism loses the clan. He loses the tribe.

The one who advances by putting the people first loses the nation. The one who advances by putting the nation first loses the world. The one who advances by putting the world first, loses heaven and earth. The one who advances putting heaven and earth first loses God.

So it has been established. Therefore, treading upon the self, one must hold fast to the family; treading upon the family, hold fast to society; treading upon society, hold fast to the nation; treading upon the nation, hold fast to the world; treading upon the world, hold fast to God. This is the formula by which the heavenly law is set in motion.

The Fundamental Purpose of Faith

Not the faith that says, “I shall believe and go to Paradise,” but the faith that says, “By my believing, I shall save the family,” is what we must have. Faith that says, “By my believing, I shall save the people, save the world, and liberate God” — I think this is the orthodox faith. Therefore, even at the cost of receiving opposition, I shall fight for the sake of this work.

You Unification disciples, we have come to know. We have come to know the place to which we must go. The heavenly kingdom is established such that one goes only by passing from the individual through the very end of the world.

Even Jesus's resurrection was not from a mind that loved the people. He died and was resurrected from a mind that loved God. That is the teaching of Jesus.

Believing in the faith of “I alone shall go to Paradise,” they try to make all things their own. They try to consume the church and swallow up everything as their own.

What is this if not Satan?

In pioneering the course of faith, if one departs from the position of being material for all people and, to accomplish his single purpose, betrays the whole, he is Satan.

The essence of Satan is that the human being, who must be used in the six-thousand-year history of the providence of restoration as material for the great work of the heavenly law, has tried to take this material as his own.

We must shatter such a faith conception. Such a current of faith flows in the present world; we must break this. The Unification disciple advances under this goal.

When 9 a.m. on Sunday comes, the bells of churches sound from every direction. The bells that resound are piteous. Their goal is the salvation of the individual. But Jesus's goal is not the salvation of the individual but the salvation of the world.

If one does not know how to hold fast to and love the believing family, does not know how to hold fast to and love the believing brethren, one perishes. The essence of faith is mistaken; therefore, it must be renewed. This is not the assertion of the one who speaks here. The heavenly Way is so. The heavenly law is so established.

Look. Among the loyal subjects of one nation, when his beloved wife and children blocked the path he walked, was there one who said, “Yes, your word is right,” and stopped his footsteps?

They trampled them down and went. We know the historical fact that, if they still would not listen, they cut their necks with the sword and went forth for the sake of the nation.

The goal toward which goodness moves is making me one footing to connect to two, making these two a footing to connect to four, and spreading worldwide.

After spreading to the whole world, where does it return?

It returns not to the body but to the mind. The God of the mind is the invisible God, and the God of the body is the Lord who is to come. Therefore, the fundamental purpose of faith is the play of seeking the lost God, the play of seeking the lost Master. It is not the play of seeking oneself.

In Jesus's day, how did all the Jews and Pharisees, who wandered seeking themselves, treat Jesus?

In the end, did they not seize and kill Jesus? Trying to seek oneself, one cannot help but become so. God absolutely does not exist for the sake of one church alone. Should it not be so? Faith centered upon oneself is blind faith.

The World of Heart in Which God and the Human Being Are One

The era when one must break through and cross over the environment of result and motive is the era of the Last Days. In this era of the Last Days, worldwide currents are formed.

The world is now divided into two currents: democracy and communism. Two are nearest to one. When two unite, they become one. Look at the United Nations organization. Whether it works out so or not. The one world must certainly come.

Only then can one say that God created this world centering upon a purpose, and that He is restoring fallen humankind under that purpose. Otherwise, how could one say God exists?

Now the era of nationalism has passed. The era of crying out centering upon any worldwide current or "-ism" has passed.

If any -ism remains, only “heart-ism” remains, by which the conscience of all people can in common be connected with the eternal Heart of God. If this heartism seeps into our human beings, there is no problem in revolutionizing all historical things at once. You may not understand what I mean.

For one who stands upon an unchanging footing such that, bonded a hundred percent with God's Heart, one can say, “You are my Father, and I am Your son”—the worldly affection (jeong) and so on are not an issue.

The conviction that one can revolutionize a hundred percent at once, without leaving even a shadow, must come and strike the bosoms of human beings upon this earth — only then is everything fundamentally resolved.

Then, if God conducts the providence of salvation facing human beings upon this earth, how shall He do it?

Shall He make a good environment in which they may eat well and live well? Of course. But if the body is made comfortable, do you think the mind shall be at ease? It is not so. Therefore, one must be bound up with the world of the heart in which, once held fast, one can continue eternally.

This world of the heart, once one loves, is endless. It is a world in which, holding fast and holding fast, one wishes to hold fast eternally.

It has been said that the highest ideal of the human being is the ideal (理想). That ideal cannot be brought to completion apart from the elements of love. By logic or by any organizational form, it is impossible. There is no way to move the mental ground or to rest upon the foundation of the heart.

The ideal contains a content of heavenly affection that transcends human affection (injeong) and can move all people of this earth at once. If the new gate of such an ideal is opened, the salvation of the world shall not be difficult. It is enough merely to distinguish whether it is red or yellow. The matter is simple.

If only one teaches what is good and what is evil, the matter is simply resolved. It is not such a complex and complicated world. Is it not so?

The world of the heart transcends explanation and transcends viewpoint. How does one explain that one loves? There is no view there. A “view” arises when there is a relative condition, that is, when cause and result are in a relative position. But in the world of the heart, the subject who is the cause is the eternal Subject, and the object who is the result is the eternal object — being two and at the same time one — therefore there can be no view.

Through the heart, God and the human being are not two but one. On the day such a world of heart unfolds upon this earth, heaven, and earth shall come to life again.

The Final Revolution Remaining Before Humankind

If there is a Creator who is ideal and if His purpose of creation was, facing the human being, to make an eternally unchanging footing bound up with the entire cosmos, what shall be the center of that purpose? It is the heart.

Looking and looking and eternally looking, finding it good, and being unable even to think the word “weary," able to rejoice eternally even at one of His eyes — only by creating the human being with such — would He not be a glorious God?

The world filled with such a heart is the heavenly kingdom. Do you know what kind of place the heavenly kingdom is? It is a place where, facing one's existence, one cannot exhaust the appreciation even after a thousand years.

If the human being had not fallen, but had welcomed the original Master in the original garden, passed through the original heart, and bound it up with heavenly affection and human affection, the world would not have become this state.

Do you think so?

Even in the fallen human world, people are caught up in dying and living for love; how would it be if one formed a bond with God's love?

Living and dying would not be the issue. Humankind, which has lost this principle and standard, agitates and wails, wanders, and is trampled. And when ruined, they reproach Heaven, reproach the earth, reproach history, reproach the era… they begin all things with reproach and end all things with reproach.

But when one comes to know the fact that there remains the heavenly law that holds purpose and that there is God who, upon the deep foundation of the heart we do not know, establishes the heavenly Way, one can be at ease.

The issue is whether the surface where contact can be made is in the east or the west, in the south or the north. Because of the difference in environment, or because the distance is far, we cannot meet currently, but in the worldwide Last Days, there shall certainly come a time when all people in common can give praise and in common make contact.

Only then is He the God of love. To kill all by the judgment of fire?

If he were going to kill, He would have killed long ago. When there were only Adam and Eve, how good it would have been to kill them then. But it is not so.

Therefore, you must take up a wakeful awareness for the era and embrace future hope and take up a wakeful awareness. Looking quietly at today's world, philosophy, religion, art, and science have all come to an end. Now there remains the final revolution before humankind.

What kind of revolution shall it be?

Centering upon God, it is the conscience revolution and heart revolution of the human being. The fortune of heaven and earth that can present this must certainly come. The procession that comes forth at this time is God's providence.

You all, look at the Bible. God, up to now, has worked through the archangel in the spirit world, through the Son, and through the Holy Spirit. It was not a work in which God Himself directly connected the heart. In the Old Testament era, He worked through angels; in the New Testament era, He worked by establishing the Son. Therefore, the Old Testament era was viewed from Heaven's side, the era to gather up the citizens; the New Testament era was the era to gather up the children. Therefore, in the New Testament era, the word “Paradise” came forth.

In the Last Days, through something new, there must come a time when the Old and New Testaments, past, present, and future, can be grafted together by heart.

At this time, the Lord comes. You must understand this. The Lord does not come as a bridegroom but comes as Father. Doesn't Matthew 16:27 also say that the Son of Man comes in the glory of His Father?

Having taught the heart of the archangel and the basis of the archangel's mind, having taught the heart of the son and the basis of the son's mind, now He shall graft on the Heart of the Father.

How grateful is this matter?

Before fallen human beings who have not formed a relationship with the eternal world, before a multitude worthy of being judged by fire being sent down, He has sent His true servants and, by making them pattern themselves after the heart of the servant, has made them the rank of servants; He has sent the Son and, by making them pass through the heart of the Son, has made them the rank of sons.

What now remains is to connect Father and son. The time when this is done is the Last Days. When the day comes when one can say “My Father,” and one can say “Oh, My son!” — The world is brought to completion.

God Who Would Embrace Humankind with Love

The eternal motive is God, the eternal result is the Son, and the eternal transitional bond is all created things; in that hour when fathers and sons and daughters embrace one another with love, will not heaven and earth too be embraced?

When the cause is resolved through me, the result resolved through me, and the process resolved through me—this world that has come forth seeking a worldwide ideal in the historical struggle of the process shall be embraced in my bosom, and all matters shall be resolved. A footing in which this can be so must appear.

Only then can God, as the Lord of Hosts and the great Sovereign of all kings, establish the only-begotten Son of God, the Crown Prince of Heaven, as the beloved blood-clan of all the cosmos and the people of all peoples, and exercise the sovereign authority to govern all nations. How splendid a thing this is!

In the medieval feudal society, Christianity flourished. The establishment of such a Christianity was not for the sake of the Christian faction alone. It was for the sake of the world.

Although it was a Christian ideal that should have crossed the nation and crossed the world, by abandoning such an ideal, the medieval feudal society perished. Thus it passed into the era of monarchy. But the people of that time also turned away from God and acted as they pleased. So it passed into a democratic society.

Here, between God and the citizen, there is the relationship of parent and child. Here nothing of the world is needed. No worldly sovereign, no church, and the like are needed.

The Father and I are directly related. How good is this! The presidents and the like all pass over. Why? Because all these are broken to connect the Father's Heart to all people. Breaking the sovereignty on Satan's side, He set up the sovereignty of Christianity in feudal society; next, He set up the monarchy. Breaking this, he also set up the democratic society.

Now must come a day when the beloved sons and daughters of God hold sovereignty and can say, “Father!”

Those who walked the way of the Tao up to now were brutally trampled. Even though they had mouths, they could not speak; even though they had noses, they could not smell; even though they had eyes, they could not see; even though they had ears, they could not hear; even though they had feet, they could not move their footsteps as they pleased — such was the pitiable multitude that walked the way of the Tao. But one must endure. Crushing all the sovereignty of the evil world and dividing and dividing again, until all people are equal, and even with the great Sovereign, one can say, “You are I, and I am You” — God must reign. How splendid this is!

History flowed forth while human beings did not know, but God, behind the scenes, even while letting the prophets and forerunners vanish as the dew of the execution ground, established the ideal of the end-time and, granting here freedom of association, freedom of faith, and all freedoms and authorities, has made the fortune by which we can attend God as Father from a position without restraint.

Do you know why democracy was made?

It was made because of the great love with which God would embrace the human being as a son. The sovereigns of old embraced him as a servant or embraced him as a citizen to run errands, but because all this was a falsehood, Heaven sent true servants and made them embrace human beings — those in the bosom of the evil enemy, the multitude that betrayed and cursed God; and not stopping there, He again sent the Son to make him embrace human beings even at the cost of dying. And so He has been bringing this world down.

When He sent the servant to embrace, He made all the sovereigns of the Satan-world standing in the position of servants withdraw; when He sent the Son to embrace, He made the sovereigns of the Satan-world, the evil world, standing in the position of sons, withdraw.

Now he is driving toward the era of Father-side sovereignty. This is so that, transcending tribe and clan, with the same conscience and the same heart, one may call God “Father.” Here, no system intervenes. He transcends every form.

The March Toward the Ideal World

The law of love—this is a law that, even if one wanted to, could not depart from the heavenly law.

If one does depart, fear seeps in, and it is destroyed. In the present sinful world, even when one sins, the recompense comes bearing historicity, but in the world of the heart hereafter, when one does anything wrong, the recompense comes immediately, transcending temporality.

Therefore, in that world, one cannot sin. Such must the world become. That world is the ideal world. In such a world, upon the foundation of a heart that has integrated even my flesh and cells, the day must come when fathers and sons and daughters can encounter one another. If such a day comes, for fallen human beings, there shall be no more blessed thing.

Seeking the True Parents, seeking the true Master, seeking the true citizenry, seeking the true national soil — together with all the spirits in the heavens, all the forebears who have died until now, and even the descendants of tens of millions of generations to come, all as the citizens of Heaven raising the Father — a world in which all the conditions of love can be sung: the Father's world of love, the value of love, the ethics of love, the law of love. This is precisely the ideal world. This is not the word of the one who speaks here. It is a fact.

The one who speaks here today is, as you know, the object of every kind of slander in society. But it is good. The one here has run for this for several decades of his life. I am confident that, when my life is cut off, upon the foundation cut off, there shall be those who again take up this beacon and run. It is not that, because one has died, that is the end; there shall be a multitude that, crossing death, runs on. Heaven looks toward this.

Though it was thought that Jesus would fall as the dew and vanish, God carried out the work of resurrection, and the disciples who had fled inherited this work of resurrection. Who could have known that a han-filled death would be made the footing for the march toward the world? It is the same.

You all, do not worry. We have conviction.

Who can take away this thoroughgoing conviction of ours?

By no devotion, by no means or method can it be taken. If there were any possibility of being taken, we would not be doing this play. Who delights in being insulted, who delights in being in unjustly aggrieved positions? In such a position, one with the right mind would seize a man by the lapels and lunge. What is lacking that we should be doing this play?

But we have endured and again endured. This endurance is not my endurance, but the Father's endurance. The Father has walked thus. To pave the unchanging foundation of humankind, the Father has walked the valleys of tears.

So how can I not joyfully walk that path?

And the Father, to pave this foundation, has walked the path of shedding sweat. Not for one day, not for seventy or eighty years, but through the long years of six thousand, killing not one but many forebears, shedding tears, He has come forth. Even so, since it would not do, eventually, He sent His beloved Son and let that Son die.

That death was not the death of Jesus alone. This death was the recompense for the many who had walked the path of death up to that time, and the fruit of victory. By it, He opened the gate of life before humankind.

Even Jesus came and went thus; how then have we today, even being struck a thousand and ten thousand times, anything to say?

If by one being buried, the people may live, how good would it be!

If by one body being trampled the people may live, then let one be trampled however much. Being trampled so does not end it; being trampled does not make one vanish.

The Multitude God Wishes to Meet

You all, now toward the gate of Heaven, toward the original home, clenching our two fists, we must become a multitude that vows before Heaven and stands forth.

With singleness of mind, not even one of the cells that move piece by piece, not the blood vessels that stretch and flow, not the nerves that move silently, and not anything of our consciousness must forget what we have vowed before Heaven.

Eating must be for that work; hearing must be for that work; seeing must be for that work; speaking must be for that work. Why? Because in the historical course, God wished to see a person, but there was no one to see; wished to speak, but there was no one to speak with; and wished to face, but there was no one to face.

If we, in place of God, can speak before the people, in place of God can face them, in place of God can show forth — then though our individual selves should fall and enter into the place of perishing, into the place of vanishing, we shall absolutely not vanish.

If we are those who know that the Father has walked such a path, we must take up the resolve and determination to seek the names of children and fulfill our responsibility. When you open your eyes in the morning, you must become one of those who know how to foresee the day.

When you stand up and step forth, you must be able to say: “Remove from my mind all the elements of complaint and discontent in which Satan can dwell (寓居), and grant that I may live this day strongly with the smile of joy.” God wishes to meet such a multitude.

In this rough and pitiable heaven and earth, upon this earth where one cannot place hope, there is the Heart of God, who must leave hope to at least one multitude. But we have nothing. We are a pitiable people with nothing to boast of.

We are in the position of having to receive aid from the advanced nations as the most backward of the backward. Yet rather than receive external aid, we must become a citizenry that can receive the internal aid of God.

We must not, while receiving external aid, reject the internal aid of Heaven.

Behind the sympathy and support given to these pitiable people lies God's support.

On the day these people know it, it shall recompense ten thousand million times all the people of the world.

History is so. Where there is death, life is conceived. Destruction and construction, decay and revival, are at one point together. Behind the sympathy and support of all people lies the help of Heaven. Looking and seeing, it is so.

You all, in such a heavenly sense, the providential fortune that faces the earth has come seeking us. But this will that has come seeking the people is being driven before the denominations, driven before the family, driven before the individual. Yet do not lose heart. There is no doubt; therefore, let us not lose heart.

Among the prophets and forerunners of old, was there any who did not walk such a path? Examine the life of Jesus, in whom we believe.

What is this — that the people, whom He came to embrace after four thousand years of preparation, betrayed Him?

What is this — that the synagogue raised the banner of revolt against Jesus, who came to embrace the synagogue formed of the chosen Israelite people?

Driven by the nation, driven by the church, driven by the family, driven by the brethren, driven even by the three beloved disciples, eventually, He died.

It was thought that He had eternally died, but who could have dreamt that He would set out anew?

May we, Unification disciples, even if we cannot do so, at least go forth in such a position. Then, a time when we shall meet greater shall come.

Jesus, Who Was Resurrected Because of the Han of Not Reaching the Goal

I am not an individual. When I am in a place of having died, I am eternally an individual, but when I am together with the living sovereignty of life, I am not an individual.

Even if I am placed in a driven position, in a pitiable position, even if I am bound in chains and become a prisoner, in the world of that mind I am not alone. Through historical proof, through daily life, this can be clearly known.

Even if we fall on the battlefield and are kicked by the foot, there is God who says, “You wretch, I am here; do not despair.” If we do not lose the heart-foundation that says it was so in the past and so in the present, and shall be so tomorrow as well, the path you walk shall not be lonely.

If one has formed a bond with Heaven, even when going to prison, ignorant citizens shall bring food. Even when one is driven and reduced to sleeping under the eaves, if there is an upright person in that village who obeys the heavenly law, he shall not sleep all night and wander seeking; he shall come seeking before the morning sun rises. Thus, as long as one is connected with Heaven before and behind, left and right, above and below, the persecution of the era is no issue.

If walking, one falls, one rises and goes again; if one falls ten times, one rises and goes again; and if one's life is exhausted and one falls, one must go even spiritually. Because there remained the han of not having gone to the place He had to go, even Jesus was resurrected.

You all, what is our eternal hope?

It is to strike with the sword we have polished and bring down and make to bow the great enemy, Satan's troops, who could not be repulsed in history. Therefore, until the day when that Satan-clan submits, we must not stop the march.

Rather than despairing at the convolutions and myriad phenomena that meet our eyes, we must look beyond these to the figure of the Lord who anxiously longs to see me, and the figure of God.

My grief is not the issue. I have only to walk the course of an individual's life, but the Father, embracing the historical providence, must agitate beyond my life into the future, and waits for me hundreds, thousands of times more earnestly than my own mind that wishes to go. If one knows such a Heart of God, who could refuse to go?

Let us comfort God. Let us comfort God, who has no eternal footing. The tragic figure of Jesus, who burned with anguish, having no foundation of heart; the anxious figure of Jesus, who alone in the garden of Gethsemane, struck by cold dew, holding fast to grass roots, appealed and shed tears — who made Jesus into such a figure? You must understand that all humankind of the world stands in common upon the bench of the judgment of history, with the destiny of having to receive in common the indemnity of sin.

Jesus held hope. He believed. He went believing in the multitudes that nailed Him and drove Him out. He went believing in the disciples who betrayed Him. Because there was the condition of having so believed, after the resurrection, He could come seeking again. Without indemnity, the betrayer and traitor cannot be raised again. The heavenly law has been so established.

Then how could Jesus seek the betraying disciples?

Even at the court of Pilate, even at the moment of meeting His fate, He believed in Peter. Peter, who was dancing in the position of betrayal, believed him as if it were not so.

Even at the cost of His own falling, because He believed him as if it were not so, after the resurrection, when He went seeking the disciples, Satan could not oppose. We must understand that, with faith becoming the motive, He could drive the disciples again to take the banner at the vanguard of the movement of restoration upon the earth.

You all, dying is the same in any case. We stand in the destiny of having to indemnify and resolve such hate-filled historical grudges. Even if we walk the path of death, we must resolve this.

If by eating it cannot be done, even fasting we must go; if by being clothed it cannot be done, even being naked we must go; if by sleeping it cannot be done, even staying up through the night we must go.

We must not be indebted to others. If we have been indebted, we must repay by shedding our blood and sweat and by carving our flesh and bones.

Only then, before Satan, can we one hundred percent establish the dignity of children who can pass through the heart of the heavenly law, and become the victorious footing Heaven longs for.

Do you know how the victorious footing is longed for by God?

Looking at the school, even the school; looking at society, even society; looking at the church, even the church; whatever party, whatever foundation, whatever organ—the victorious footing is all blocked.

God Who Awaits the Human Being in the Place of Suffering

The citizens of the heavenly kingdom, who stand in the destiny of having to walk a single path with a single-minded heart—how must they walk that path?

If they cannot go by wisdom, then by sweat and tears; if they cannot go by sweat and tears, then even by blood.

We must offer our sweat as God's sweat, our tears as God's tears, our energy as God's energy. Blood must be shed for God, tears for humankind, sweat for the earth. Thus, we must utterly trample down the foundation of grudge in which God and the earth and humankind cannot meet. This is the work we must do.

We must advance to the place where my daily emotion can say, “God's work is my work, and my work is the earth's work, and my work is humankind's work” — and centering upon me, sing of heavenly value.

The history up to now has been divided—Heaven going its own way, religion its own way, and the earth its own way. Seeking Heaven, humankind was lost; seeking humankind, heaven, and earth were lost.

Now, through the heavenly heart, through our daily emotion, we must be able to feel that seeking it is the Father's work, the earth's work, humankind's work, and at the same time, my work.

Holding the figure of glorious victory, with a single ideal standard concluding from beginning to end as one, joining both hands together, we must be able to say, “What I have lost I now find and offer up; receive it.” It is not in the heavens that God seeks to meet such sons and daughters. It is not in the splendid place where all the people of the world are gathered that He hopes to meet, nor in the garden of happiness that He seeks to meet.

It is upon the foundation where blood has been shed, in the complex environment where one cannot help but shed tears, in the arena of fighting that He wishes to meet. You must understand this.

The one who would attend the Father in glory cannot meet the Father. In the place of shedding bloody tears, in the place where all people have lost their center and are confused, in the place where life and death are overturning, holding the figure of victory, one must be able to say, “Heavens, earth, humankind, my Father.” Then we must receive the gift of God's blessing in which He says, “Yes, My son, you are the son I have looked for from the heavens; you are the son I wished to set up before all people; you are the son I can boast of in heaven and on earth.”

Only then is the true footing, the true foundation of humankind, of which I have spoken today, accomplished.

Through us, the starting point of the happiness of heaven and earth and humankind must certainly appear upon this earth. This work must certainly be borne by someone.

If there is one who, with tears blocking his sight, unable to walk, overturning, prostrate, pleads to bear this responsibility, bury your head before his knees and repent.

If there is a multitude who, even in tragic and despairing circumstances, not thinking of their bodies, but in that very place with grateful hearts, going forth shedding blood and sweat for Heaven, for the will, you must know how to follow them at the cost of your lives.

Unless such believers, such conscientious people, appear from among these people, especially from among the young men and women of these people, these people perish. “I am the eternally unchanging ideal footing of God. Though this figure may be naked, hungry, and lacking in heart, except for me, none can hold Your hand; except for me, none can smooth Your garment; except for me, none can mend Your shoes. No part of you can be without me. On the day a multitude that can say so gathers, even without fighting, this Satanic world can be conquered.

What is important is us. You must know thoroughly that the issue is with me. We who go for the sake of one purpose are brothers. You must know that it is not “I am I, and you are you,” but “you are I, and I am you.”

We must become those who, seeing a brother on the battlefield falling, shedding blood, cannot sleep through the night and vow before Heaven to add their blood to that place.

So must we also be in the place of shedding tears, in the place of shedding sweat.

Until a living footing, a victorious footing, is established through your hearts, do not despair, but go. Then I am confident that, undoubtedly, a great cosmic victory shall come before you.

Prayer

Father, having come to know that, because You love us so much, You command us to follow such a path, today we shall go, and tomorrow also we shall go. Even if grieved, we shall go; even if insulted, we shall go; even if trampled, we shall go. Because it is so great a love and so great a gift, this Korea cannot recompense it with anything. Holding the mind of asking with what we can recompense the Father, we have bowed our bodies; therefore, receive us according to Your will.

Today, many people have attended this place. Make clear in what kind of position we stand, and grant that we may have the conviction by which we can tread upon this transitional world and cross over.

If we cannot do so, we have come to know that we must, beyond the present, even be anxious for the matters of the future; therefore, grant that those gathered here today may, in even one part of their daily life, become God's true footing, God's true foundation. In even one part of the body, mind, and heart, grant that, possessing such a foundation, we may show it to this evil world and gather up this evil world.

Asking that, in such a place, we may become Your sons and daughters who can return glory to the Father and receive the praise of being called Your sons and daughters, and receive all things. In the name of the Lord, I have prayed. Amen.
