Heaven’s Warriors

Daegu Church

We Unification Church members call one another “family” (식구), do we not?

What does the word “family” (食口) mean?

Rendered from the Chinese characters, it means “eating mouths.” So a family is brothers who eat together, a household that eats together. Every one of them is a mother, father and brothers and sister.

Reflections at Daegu

So then—speaking from the position of the Teacher of the Unification Church—where is the eternal land of bliss in which our family can live?

Now that you have lived a while, how is it? Does Korea seem to be the eternal land of bliss? Even if it is not Korea, the eternal land of bliss must without fail be somewhere.

My friends, it would be good if there were such an eternal land of bliss, would it not? (“Yes,” But what if there is none? (“We must make one.”) Make one, you say? Who makes it? (“We do.”) Are you all confident? (“Yes.”) It is not made simply by suffering blindly.

Then how shall we make it? “O beautiful mountains and seas!” Well, that is fine. The landscapes of Korea are beautiful. Look the world over, and there are few countries as richly blessed with the gifts of nature as Korea. Wherever you go, it is like a picture. “O beautiful mountains and seas! O beloved hometown!”

My friends, do you have a beloved hometown? (“Yes.” Is that so? The flies are buzzing, and there is a stench, is there not? Young women would all run away if they saw it. And yet, have you grown fond of that hometown? A farmer must grow fond of that house.

When the Teacher, going about on a tour, arrives in Daegu, the impression is quite different. Going to Jeolla and going to Gyeongsang feel quite different. And among the places in Gyeongsang, Daegu is the city that has left the deepest impression. As a city, where does Daegu rank in Gyeongsang? Second, is it not? But in the Teacher’s mind, it seems to be the first city. It is because I like it. The Teacher likes Daegu.

When I say “Daegu,” it is a place that can never be forgotten in the Teacher’s mind. Whenever I think of Daegu, the thought of some ten years ago wells up earnestly. It is deeply moving to recall the days when the Teacher, holding a most intense heart, struck his breast as he prayed and resolved and vowed.

Whenever I say “Daegu,” I recall having thought, “Let me fight splendidly here once and bring about the one time of God,” so that it is a place I can never forget. My friends, is it good? (“Yes.”)

So the Unification Church family living here, too, must have a thorough taste of suffering at least once. If one is a Unification Church believer who says he will establish the way of a loyal subject before the Will, representing Daegu and, beyond that, representing North Gyeongsang Province—if one is a Unification Church believer who says he will take responsibility for and seek North Gyeongsang Province—then all of you must go out.

Going out, what activity do you do?

I would like to throw you down headfirst and send you flying with something like judo. Why? Because, in order hereafter to draw Daegu into our Will, one must be able to handle the whole of Daegu as one pleases.

Can this be done alone? It cannot. So I intend to mobilize our young men and young women and try out my skill. The meaning is that I will give the command.

For that, courage proportional to the Teacher’s indignant heart of the past is needed. The meaning is that men and women are needed who have the confidence to resolve the Teacher’s han (한) of past indignation.

Coming to Daegu today, I considered what to say to you. I wondered whether to say a good word or a bitter word, and it seemed I had better say a bitter word. But how could I? When I dislike harsh words! Suppressing my disappointed heart, I ought to say a good word for your sake. So how forlorn it is! At such a time I can feel, “Ah, this must be the very heart God has held.”

Is it not so with parents too?

Because they love their child, because they have grown fond of him, even when the child does wrong, they cannot vent their anger but speak a good word. You, too, will be able to feel this.

Coming to Daegu today, I had firmly thought of scolding you in a word. My friends, will you take a scolding? Will you take it? You here in Daegu must always know such things.

Last time we held revival meetings, the first, second, and third—did we not?

We will do so again. And though this North Gyeongsang district headquarters is now the shabbiest, hereafter I will build here in Daegu a Unification Church greater than any other church. People of the North Gyeongsang district, is it not a glory? (“Yes.”)

The people of Daegu are people without bones. They are soft and limp. But, people of Daegu, do not take it amiss. The people of Daegu are like people without bones. Is it not so? The people of North Gyeongsang are people without a bridegroom.

Coming all the way from North Chungcheong, through South Gyeongsang, and arriving in Daegu, I felt out of sorts from the very alleys. But I endured it. So in Daegu, I cannot go about with an easy mind. You, too, will be the same. Even when you sit, you will have to sit quietly. Why? Because if a big fellow once sits down on top of you, nothing will be left of you.

People Are Needed

My friends, among the districts of our church, this Daegu district headquarters is the shabbiest. Then what about the people who have come into this shabby headquarters? Are they shabby? Are they fine and upstanding? One cannot say.

If I said they were fine, I would get an earful, so I have no choice but to keep quiet. Hereafter, the North Gyeongsang district—that is, the Daegu church—will be the largest.

Do you think such thoughts? Do you think such thoughts, or not?

Even if you do not, when the Teacher asks, you ought to know to answer “Yes.” How about it? Will you do so, or will you not? (“We will.”) When? When will you do it? You say you are only doing it in your mind? That will not do. You must actually do it.

When you go to our Headquarters Church, it is splendid, is it not?

Those who have been to the Headquarters Church will know. The Headquarters Church is splendid, is it not? The Teacher is a person who lives in such a splendid house.

In Seoul, you see, there are many tiny houses like specks of dirt nearby. I would like, at some point, to scatter several hundred billion there and have houses built all at once. If money came in, I would shut my eyes tight and do that first. Now I cannot bear to look at it with my eyes open.

I do not want such a big house. That much is enough. What I want now, rather than houses, is people. People—people are needed. People who can struggle against evil for the sake of goodness, people who can spare not even their lives for the sake of the Will, are needed.

This North Gyeongsang district headquarters is shabby, but what about the people of North Gyeongsang? What do Seoul people say when they look at people of North Gyeongsang? “Barley lepers,” you say?

When I look closely, the people of Gyeongsang who go into politics fight to the death. Even after a great fight, they ought to unite at the gate, but instead they scatter every which way and squabble. Look and see whether it is so or not. The people of Jeolla, on the other hand, smooth things over at the gate, go in, and then fight. That is the characteristic of Jeolla people, which differs from that of Gyeongsang people.

During restoration, there are times when the temperament of Gyeongsang people is needed. Yet today, when fighting the great enemies, one must set up a battle plan and mount a full offensive, so one must unite. One must unite. The meaning is that people must unite.

So what need is there for a house?

However well a certain country’s king fights, can he fight and win against countless enemies? So there must be people. To save a nation too, it is not houses but people that are needed. The meaning is that people are needed.

It is said that Korea is now collapsing and furious, but that is not because Korea has no fine houses. It is because there are no people. Nor has Korea come to this state lacking scholars and doctors. There are people, but the problem is that they cannot unite. The elders, gripping their beards, say, “Eh! What do you youngsters know? You must listen to us.

You must do this and that for us elders!”; and the young people too, for their part, make a fuss that there is a generation gap with the grandfathers and grandmothers. They cannot become one. That will not do.

One must set up a single goal, hold hope only for it, unfold a single movement, and smash everything that does not accord with that goal. One must become a person who can do this. Do you understand?

So, family members of North Gyeongsang, there is nothing to boast of in a big house and nothing to worry about in a small house.

As I said earlier, the Headquarters Church is big, isn't it?

But what the Teacher wants is not a house. Rather than houses, I demand people, and rather than adorning houses, I wish to adorn people. And in adorning, one must adorn the inside rather than the outside. You must become a person who can say, “No one can take away my inside. Not even God can take it away.” You must become a person whose inside no one, however great, can take away.

A person who, once he has decided or vowed in his heart and firmly locked the door of his mind, no one can open—a person whom, since I locked it, only I can open—and who, while being so, can join together for a single purpose: such a person is needed.

Coming here to Daegu, I reviewed you. When I look at young people rather than at a crowd, I feel perfect. You remember the Teacher saying the other time that the first generation passes and the second generation comes?

I do not know whether the established-church pastors and elders have come, but they may oppose the Unification Church until their brows go bald and their hair all falls out and turns gray. But their sons and daughters will come into the hands of Teacher Moon of the Unification Church. This is the firm conviction the Teacher of the Unification Church holds.

Even though the first generation falls in the wilderness and becomes food for the eagles, I will be needed by the second generation. The opposing established-church pastors and elders would be disappointed to hear it, but that is how I think.

If you have the confidence to oppose this thought of mine, come out. Let us have a contest. Let us see whether it turns out so or not.

Not even God can take away this conviction of mine. Whoever opposes, even if he mobilizes the power of the nation to oppose, can do nothing. Let us see whether it turns out so or not.

This is why the Unification Church is the church of the second generation. Wherever it goes, it must be unshakable. Even if kicked hard once, it must only roll, not change. And even rolling, it must not roll scattering apart, but roll gathering tight and multiplying. I like such a person.

A ball, too, when you kick it, is good if it rolls and rolls along. The Teacher will, at times, kick away the young men and women of the Unification Church. The meaning is that I will give the young fellows a good, hard kick now and then.

Tough and Active People

Then he will strike against a boulder. There, a truly solid person, even when he strikes a great rock and bleeds, does not himself shatter, but rather falls away carrying a chip of the rock with him. Do you understand what I mean?

Now that I have come to North Gyeongsang, I would like to give you a good hard kick toward where the rocks are. How about it?

If I kick you with my foot, will your head crack and your body crack, and you just drop flat? Even so, you must be unshakable. We must make such warriors.

What is the ideal of our Unification Church?

Unification, is it not? To unify, one must have strength. One must have the ability.

If, moreover, one is equipped with a beauty like that of all creation displayed, and gives off light, there will be no one who does not need such a person. One must shine. One must shine strongly. Strength alone will not do. One must be tough. Such an individual is needed, and at the same time, such a band is needed.

A person who, bound this way and that, can still leap about freely—such a person is needed. One must not become a stiff person, so that when struck, he snaps right off. One must become a supple person, who, bound this way or that, can still stand upright.

And then what shall we do with it?

Occasionally, I take young men and women out to the sea. At the sea, there are many fish. There are fish that go flying along and fish that float. We must catch such fish, but how shall we catch them? Shall we catch them by fishing with a line every day, or by casting a palm-sized net?

When the net is cast over places like Alaska in America, or Japan, or out in the Pacific, and pulled in to haul out all the fish there, I often think it would be good if I were the one handling the rope there.

Otherwise, I would like to set off an atomic bomb with a bang in the Pacific, so that all the fish there float up and a flood of fish is brought about. There would be many other methods besides. How to catch them is a matter of how one thinks.

It is the same with our Unification Church. The intent is to shake the whole world, centered on our people. The intent is to shake the world, centered on the three-thousand-li peninsula.

Even within the Far East, Korea is a thoroughly wretched country. They say the three-thousand-li land, the white-clad people, the land of brocade rivers and mountains, but it is a forlorn country. Yet though it grew up forlorn in a forlorn country, the Unification Church has set out to handle the world with a shining content, not a forlorn one. Is it not so?

What would happen if the white-clad people collided head-on with the world?

Even a year ago, our people would have been crushed. But now it is different. The 120 nations of the world all oppose the Unification Church, so, colliding with such a host of nations, which band will be the one that remains to the last? It is the band of the Unification Church.

The meaning is that the band of the Unification Church remains to the very last. How about it? Are you not sorry?

When I say that the band of the Unification Church, few though its members are, will remain after confronting a host of nations, are you not sorry? Why do you not answer? Have you resolved that hereafter, when the Teacher asks, you will clamp your mouths shut and not answer?

The Unification Church is the church of tough and active people. We have not a penny, but if someone says, “Let us do such-and-such,” we do it all.

If we say, “Let us earn money,” we earn it fiercely. Yet in saving a nation, it is not money that saves it. People—people are needed. And it is truly formidable people who are needed. People are needed who have the conviction to discern and judge whatever current of thought—democracy or communism or any other—sweeps in. Of course, with apologies to those who are older, it is not gray-haired grandfathers and grandmothers who are needed. Older ones, do not take it amiss.

I am near to being counted among the older ones. Rather than older people, it is the young—young men, young people overflowing with passion and spirit—who are needed. A nation united and centered on such young people would be able to govern the world.

Well then, people of North Gyeongsang, do you have the will to join such a company?

Those who have answered, raise your hands. Oho! All right, lower them.

We Are Heaven’s Warriors

Then let us sing just the fourth verse of the song “Heaven’s Warriors” that we sang a moment ago. (Singing.) Toward where do we charge bravely? Toward what kind of world?

The world of our homeland—where is that world?

What is “the brilliant culture dawning in the East”? Is your present position brilliant? What is “all the world”? It means not Korea alone but the whole world.

Anyone who bears the name of a human being all enters in. Whether past, present, or future, anyone who is a human being belongs to “all the world.” What is “all humankind”? Brothers, you say?

If they are brothers, that too would be a great matter. When I asked someone how many brothers he had, he said, “Many. I have so many younger siblings who keep taking from me that it is a worry. I have to get them married and set them up with households, so I am at my wits’ end.” What would it be for such a person if all humankind became his brothers?

What would he do?

If all humankind truly became brothers, what would he do? Would such a person need brothers? Have you thought about this?

My friends! Do you need such brothers? Do you really need them? How much? As much as the whole world, you say? Yes. They are needed. They are absolutely needed. How much are they needed?

They are needed enough to give one’s life. Why? Because without those people, without those brothers, one cannot form the great single family of goodness. The single family of goodness cannot be formed with one person. Nor can it be done with one nation. The white race, the black race, the yellow race — yellow and red and motley people, all alike — must all become brothers. All must mingle and become brothers.

Then what is a brother? Are you brothers if your faces are alike? Are you brothers if you eat together?

Are you brothers if you dress identically like twins? No. You are brothers only if your blood is the same. Next, you must have the same parents. Of course, there must be parents for the bloodline to arise, must there not? The very first requirement for becoming brothers is having the same parents.

Only with the same parents are you brothers. There are half-brothers too, are there not? And there are sworn brothers too, are there not? But what kind of brothers must we become? We must become brothers of one womb. How about it? Do you have the confidence to become brothers of one womb? That is the question.

What is the center of the ideal world we hope for, the new world that will come about hereafter, the world of a new culture that will shine brilliantly over all the world? It is the True Parents, the True Parents of humankind. This is why we must forever uphold and attend to the Parents of goodness whom we hope for. The scope of upholding is broad. So we must uphold them from the standpoint of the whole. And so we sing, “Surely we shall realize, one world.”

We human beings were originally born as the protagonists of one world, to become the son or daughter of one family, and to govern the world as we pleased and stride across all heaven and earth. But because of the Fall, it did not turn out so. So the intent is to restore such a world. “Surely we shall ”realize”—what world? A world of two? No. It is, “Surely we shall realize, one world.”

Then what world is “one world”? It is a unified world. Looking at the Unification Church up to now—night and day, Teacher Moon struggling alone in Korea—you may think Teacher Moon is not a real person; but if you have thought so, you have thought wrongly. Toward the established-church pastors, I think thus: “Just wait and see. Standing water rots in time. In any case, the current of the age will bring our Word to light.

However much sincerity and loyalty have been spent to rear someone on the historical course, he will return in a single morning.” With such confidence, I have come forth.

The meaning is, just wait and see. The faith view of Catholicism and the faith view of Protestantism asserted by the established churches, the faith views asserted by scholars and doctors, and the faith views asserted by this church and that church—there will come a day when they collide with our ideal of unification, the faith view of our Unification Church, and are absorbed. Wait and see, and you will know.

My friends, have you flown a kite?

When you fly a kite, if you coat the kite string with powdered porcelain and fly it, it flies pleasantly on the wind, does it not? Now suppose a worthless kite is flying alongside. Brush against it, and it is cut clean away without fail. So it must be.

The intent is to let the anchor line of the heavenly kingdom, connected to our band of unification, collide once with the anchor line of the established churches. See which side is cut away. The line of goodness, grounded in righteousness, is bound to win.

Then what kind of world is “one world”?

A unified world, is it not? It is a unified world. Into that unified world, God too loves to enter and dwell. So even when one asks Him to please come out, He says, “Stay as you are. There is a reason,” and does not come out. That is how it is.

The Lord who comes as the True Parents of humankind, the Lord who comes holding the ideal of the Second Advent, too—even if one says, “I earnestly beg you to come out”—is plain to see he will not come out.

Surely We Shall Realize One World

What is strange about our Unification Church is just this. People who have tasted the Unification Church, from the very day they step into it, will not try to leave. When a bee comes to know the taste of honey, you see, it buries its head in it and wags its tail end and stays stuck there.

When a bee has once tasted honey and is stuck there, take a pair of tweezers, pinch its tail, and pull. Then its body comes right off. Even so, it will not come out. The Teacher knows such things well, having observed bees a great deal.

Our Unification Church members must be like that. Once you have acquired the taste, it is not that you come because someone tells you to come. You come off yourself.

I came to Daegu today, but did I come because someone told me to come?

The meaning is, do not go about because someone tells you to. You must go about with a clear purpose, judging for yourself why you go.

Once you have acquired the taste, there is no need for anyone to say “come” or “go.” Even if told not to come, you will come. So hereafter I intend to try persecuting you to keep you from coming into our church—saying, “Are you going to attend the Unification Church?”

Thus, we must form a world of ideological brothers, brothers centered on Heaven, who give and receive love with one another. The people of the world, the brothers of the world, are fallen, brothers. They are brothers who, having received Satan’s lineage, have defiled their bloodline.

Now, when a band that has become brothers, centered on a true heavenly bond, collides with the band of the world, which side must be cut off?

With apologies, the bond of the brothers of the world—that is, of one’s own flesh and blood, of relatives called brothers—must be cut off. There must be something stronger than the bond of the world if one is to operate this world actively. Without equipping such a force of activity, without such strength, do you suppose unification can come about? It cannot.

Are the people gathered here all equipped with such strength?

You have gathered to equip yourselves with it, have you not? It is said, “Surely we shall realize, one world—but who said he would realize it? “Surely we shall realize, one world!” Is this something others do? We must realize it. Through our bodies and our spirits, “Surely we shall realize, one world.” That is how it ought to be.

And so, when such bands become brothers, they must say, “We are the pride, warriors of unification.” What is the pride? When you think that we handle and manage the work that all the people of the world could not do, the hopeful work that no one on the historical course could do up to now, and become the cornerstone that can resolve the han of all people and the han of all the universe and attain their desire—how exhilarating it is!

So we say, “We are the pride, warriors of unification.” Warriors. A warrior is one equipped with the spirit, the courage, and the disciplined arms to strike down countless enemies. “We are the pride, warriors of unification.” The meaning is that we are the warriors of unification who charge vigorously toward the unified world. Those who would like to charge thus, raise your hands. There now, that will do. Let us sing it once more. The fourth verse of “Heaven’s Warriors” — begin! (Singing.)

What is the title of the song we just sang?

It is “Heaven’s Warriors.” We said one must become a warrior of Heaven, did we not? To become a warrior of Heaven, first, one must know the heart of God. Just as to become a loyal subject of a nation, one must know the heart of the sovereign, and to become a filial son before one’s parents, one must know the heart of one’s father and mother, so to become a warrior of Heaven, one must know the heart of God.

One must know God’s heart before the creation and His heart at the time of the creation; His sorrowful heart when human beings fell after the creation, and the heart of restoration with which, bearing that sorrowful heart, He has woven the history of restoration; and the heart with which He hopes for the world after restoration.

People who believe in Jesus today say they will believe in Jesus and go to heaven; if one could go to heaven that way, how good it would be! They say that if you believe you will gain salvation—but what is the content of believing? Is it simply believing?

Is one to believe while forsaking the nation and the world?

The question is, where is the boundary of belief?

Do they say one gains salvation merely by believing, in a haphazard, rule-of-thumb way? Is chanting prayers also believing? When asked where the boundary of belief is, they cannot answer and only fret.

Believing is not such an easy thing. To what degree must one believe? One must believe all the way to the back alleys of God’s heart, all the way to the very ends of God’s desire. Belief is not some game one plays merely because one cannot help it. How forlorn it is!

Have you ever seen a person say to his sons and daughters, “I am your father, so believe me”? If one said to a hoodlum, “I am truly your father, so believe me,” would that hoodlum believe?

So how forlorn God is! It is God who says to His own sons and daughters, “Believe me, believe me” — so how forlorn He is.

The Kingdom of Heaven Is the World of the Heart

So how must one believe in God?

One must believe knowing what God’s circumstances are in facing the individual, what God’s circumstances are in facing the family, what God’s circumstances are in facing the clan, the people, the nation, and the world, what God’s heart is in fighting against Satan, and what God’s desire is. Yet who has known that up to now?

You say you believe in Jesus and go to the Kingdom of Heaven?

If it were so, why not go to the throne of Heaven and command there—why stay as you are? It is not arranged so. When I went to the spiritual world and saw, it was not arranged so. I deliberately tried to meet, in the spiritual world, the Korean pastors who were said to have believed well on earth, but I could not even find where they were. On inquiry, they were in a far-off place. The meaning is, if you would go to the Kingdom of Heaven, go and see.

You who have entered the Unification Church must not try to go by the road the established-church believers believe to be the road to the Kingdom of Heaven. The Kingdom of Heaven is not a place one can go to so simply. Search the spiritual world high and low, and it is not arranged so.

We must know God’s heart from the time of the creation onward.

What must the heart of God have been, who created all things, from a single blade of grass on up?

Each time He made each created thing, gazing upon all things coming to life upon His devotion, how glad must He have been! That heart—God's heart at the time of the creation—we must know. Look through the books of theology and see whether such content is in them. Look through all the books of theology in the world, and it will not be there. So how on earth would they know what God’s heart was at the time of the creation?

Jesus declared upon this earth,

“I came to cast fire upon the earth; and what would I wish, if it were already kindled?” (Luke 12:49).

He also said,

“I have a baptism I must receive; and how stifled I am until I receive that baptism?”

Why was he so stifled?

It was because the Jewish people had gone wrong, so he had to correct it, or else clear it away root and all. This is why, even today, one goes forth suffering all manner of insult. Thereby, one must establish what is true.

From the days of the Liberal Party until now, through three administrations, how hard they have tried to do away with the Unification Church! But the Unification Church is not so easily dealt with. This Teacher standing here speaking is a person whom even three billion people of humankind, coming at him, could not overcome. However great a person may be, he cannot make me submit.

However, he draws on logical theories to conclude and presses me; no ideal can make me say, “Ah, that is so.” The meaning is that he cannot answer the questions I throw at him. But I have the confidence to answer their questions. I am a person who lives with this kind of boldness. On the path of faith, such boldness is needed.

The heart of God, of which we speak in the Unification Church, is long and great and deep.

We must know what God’s heart was before the creation, what God’s heart was at the time of the creation, and what God’s heart was when Adam and Eve fell after the creation. The meaning is that we must know how great a nail Adam and Eve drove into God’s breast when they fell.

We must know how greatly God grieved even after the Fall. And we must know with how aching a heart He has come to seek as He walks the course of restoration.

We must know how aching the heart of God was, who, driving His own sons and daughters to the brink of a horrifying death to make a world of restoration, urged them to endure and go on. Thereby, only by clearing away this world of sin through one final central being and resolving the han of God’s heart is the Will accomplished.

Look into the Bible all day long. See whether such content is there, whether God’s heart is there. This is why it was said to pray in the Last Days. It was said to anoint oneself, go into the inner room, and pray, was it not?

The heart of which we speak in the Unification Church is the heart of hope that all humankind in common desires, the heart with which all people must without fail bind a bond, the heart with which God has come to seek up to now.

In its domain, it is a heart that can encompass all heaven and earth and still have room to wrap up the whole. This is why, to become a warrior of Heaven, first, one must be in communion through this heart. Next, the person is the question.

But Adam and Eve, by falling, came not to know God’s heart. Had Adam and Eve grown up, perfected their character, and drawn near before God—had they entered the mature stage as ones who had perfected their character—God would have blessed them and bequeathed His heart to them. Thereby, He sought to make a heavenly husband and wife who could be in communion with God’s love and God’s heart, and to make a family of lineage.

Originally, Adam and Eve were to inherit this enormous heart of God and, upon the foundation of the heart, become the true ancestors of humankind. Thereby, their descendants for all generations were to be able to govern this world. But since human beings lost that foundation of the heart, this, in a word, is the Fall.

Thereby, people came to be unable to receive God’s heart. They lost God’s heart, lost the character that could resemble God’s heart, and lost the purpose of the Word that was to be established upon character.

The Three Essentials of Judgment

This is why, in the Last Days, the judgment is by heart, by character, and by the Word. The judgment is not by how well one believed. God has a center of the heart. There is a single center of the heart that God must establish, centered on heaven and earth. And there is a center of character that can become one body with this heart of God.

There is also a center of the Word, by which a person who can become one body with this character and heart can speak in God’s stead. These are the three essentials of judgment.

Of these, the judgment by the Word takes place first. In the fallen world of human beings, the judgment by the Word takes place first.

What does the current thought in the fallen world of today go seeking?

It goes seeking the world of truth. What does history, developing together with culture, go seeking?

It seeks an ideal that can lead toward a single cultural world. The currents of thought in the world up to now have come forth through ideologies and isms, but they are struggling in a blind alley, having failed to establish a single standard of the Word by which all people can become one and all people can harmonize. This is the present reality.

This is why, into such a world, a Word must come forth that, representing heaven and earth, can melt down both communists and democrats and make them one. Into this world that pursues truth, a single Word must come forth and judge the truth up to now.

Before there is a judgment by character, there is a judgment by truth. Today there are countless denominations and religious bodies, and each says, “Attend our church, believe in our denomination.

You must believe in our religious body to go to the Kingdom of Heaven.” But tell them not to make such guarantees. As yet, no truth has appeared in the world of human beings.

The meaning is that no truth has appeared that, transcending people and nations and transcending the isms and ideologies of the world’s currents of thought, can harmonize the whole and unify the whole, centered on a single purpose.

This is why, with the denominations people now assert, the faith-notions people presently believe in, and the systems of ism and ideology people now assert, the world cannot be made one, and humankind cannot be saved. Therefore, Jesus must come again. Jesus must come again.

If everything had been accomplished, what would he come again for?

Hereafter, a worldwide judgment by truth will take place. Now there are hundreds of denominations—the Presbyterian Church, the Methodist Church, the Holiness Church, the Jehovah’s Witnesses, and so on. Among them, our Unification Church also stands shoulder to shoulder. Then which of these will be true? There is only one truth.

These days, among the pastors of the established churches, there are many who study the Unification Church in secret and ask to meet me.

When such people meet me, they come to know that their faith is mistaken, but elders who know nothing make a great fuss that disaster has struck because the pastors believe in the Unification Church.

Yet just let them hear a little of the Unification Church Word. It becomes a topic of talk, so naturally they cannot but study it; and if they study it, they are caught; and once caught, they all come to follow. There are such people. I know several of them. The meaning is, let us meet anytime. The flow of history turns out so.

The Principle upon Firm Conviction

Among God’s final history of judgment, first there is the judgment by truth. This is why, to realize a world that can harmonize with this truth, a new ideology of an ism must come forth and move the currents of thought of the world today.

Herein lies the reason our ideal has come forth. With the isms and ideologies of today, one cannot transcend the notions of nation and people. Nor can one transcend such things as the tradition of a single nation.

At such a time, what must Christianity do, and how?

Do you suppose that today’s Christianity, which turns its head toward the present social system, can save the world? Not in the least. It must all be smashed.

Knowing that it is rotten, one must make a fundamental correction. The time has come to burn it all up, throw away what burns, and, with what remains, cultivate it anew and make a new design.

What will remain to the very last is truth. There must be a single truth that can remain to the very end. Even among truths, there must be a true truth that can gather all the isms and ideologies of the world and remain as a single truth.

The Unification Church, too, is a church, but I do not like the word “church.” It was lacking any choice that we hung out the signboard “church.” You, too, are believers, are you not? How forlorn God is!

Do you feel, when you pray, how forlorn God’s history is?

A true minister of religion will feel such things well.

What the young men and women of our Unification Church must know hereafter is that a new world grounded in truth will without fail come.

So unless an inner character that can accord with that world is brought to life upon the foundation of truth, one will be driven out by the current of the age. There is a judgment by truth; next there will be a judgment by character centered on that truth; and next, truth and character must become one and pass through God’s heart, which is the judgment by heart.

In the Last Days, there is thus a judgment by truth, a judgment by character, and a judgment by heart.

In Christianity today, there is not the true Word of Jesus—not the Word in the four Gospels beginning with Matthew, but the true Word that Jesus could not speak, the Word he held in his heart yet could not utter before the enemies of the satanic world. The meaning is that there is no true Word by which one can say, “I have lived for this, and I will die for this.”

That Jesus died as the offering of the cross and atoned for the sins of humankind is Paul’s assertion, not Jesus’ assertion. It is content that Paul asserted, not the Word that Jesus spoke.

Jesus, as a true person of character before Heaven and a true person of character before all humankind, sought true sons and daughters of faith to whom he could bequeath the circumstances at the time of his setting out and the content he held in his heart.

But where is the true Word that Jesus wished to speak?

It is not even in the Bible. Look at the words about the band of 144,000 in chapter 14 of Revelation. How obscure they are! And the words “the first resurrection”—how “obscure” they are! Believing this, how is one to take part in the first resurrection?

If the examiner set the question this way, but the answer was written that way, one cannot pass the examination.

The true Word of truth that Jesus wished to speak throughout his life has not yet appeared. And Jesus wished to live a life that was one with that Word on this earth, but he could not live such a life—that is, he went without living it out fully. The meaning is that he went without planting his heart in the earth.

So he must come again. But do you suppose it will do for him to come riding on the clouds?

If it would do for him to come riding on the clouds, how good that would be! Tell them not to talk such nonsense. And just because the Lord does not come riding on the clouds, they call us a heretical cult? There will come a time when those very people are treated as heretics.

Does this mean, then, that Teacher Moon of the Unification Church denies everything that countless scholars have studied over two thousand years? No. I deny only what, on examination, is not fact. Because I entered the spiritual world, searched it high and low, and came to know the facts, I have, even while suffering abuse, faced the world with that content.

This is why the Unification Church Word is not “it is probably so.” It is “it is so.” Where is there a law by which truth says, “It is probably so”? In physics and chemistry formulas, too, there is no “it is probably so,” is there? It is the same with truth. An empirical, scientific, logical result must come out.

The Unification Church Principle is not “it is probably so” but “it is so.” The age of “it is probably so” has passed. The heart of which we speak, too, is not a vague heart but a concrete heart. The character of which we speak is a concrete character. It is not a vague character.

The Word, too, is not vague but a concrete Word. This concrete heart, character, and Word must be content that, possessing universal validity, accords with this actual world, settles an eternal position in this actual world, and can integrate all things of the actual world.

The Bond of Original Nature, Giving and Receiving Eternally

Among the Holy Songs of our Unification Church, “Heaven’s Warriors” has such content. The content of this song is, first, the heart. Let us read the first verse once. It is, “By the bond of heart, the world lives.” It is not by the bond of truth that the world lives. Whether a person dies or lives is by love, the source of life.

The meaning is that one dies and lives by God’s love. Truth is a guide. It is the same as a bridge for forming a relationship with the substance, an intermediate form for conveying the heart.

When it says, “By the bond of heart the world lives,” what heart is that heart?

It is God’s heart. This heart is not the heart of han that God, facing this fallen world up to now, has had to bear and indemnify, but the heart that wishes to resolve han.

So we must resolve all the han that has bound and bound for six thousand years, appear as sons and daughters of loyalty and filial piety, and be able to say, “O Father, today we have come to know in our hearts that Thou hast passed through such twists and turns in the past.

In bygone days, our forefathers, on this twisted historical course, failed to fulfill their responsibility to resolve Thy distress and han and to receive and accomplish Thy Will. All such hearts we today will bring to the consummation of the resolution of han (해원성사) for Thee. Is this not Thy heart?”

That is the heart of the resolution of han.

Then how must one act to resolve God’s han?

First, one must know what God’s han is. God’s han is that He has not found an individual whom He can truly love, has not found a family, has not found the clan, the people, the nation, the world, or the Cosmos.

And is this world God’s world?

It is all fallen and ruined. So what would God’s first desire be?

Since the individual He sought hangs as a condition of han, there must be accomplished, as an individual, the consummation of the resolution of han by one who can say, “I will resolve all the conditions of han that arose because of me, so receive it, I beseech Thee.”

And so God desires that the family be brought to the consummation of the resolution of han, and the clan, the people, the nation, and the world be brought to the consummation of the resolution of han.

Such Holy Songs that we Unification Church members sing are deeply meaningful. “By the bond of heart the world lives,” and then “which has bound us into one,” is it not? Apart from the heart of God, who has bound us into one, one can never become one. It cannot be done with human power.

Seen from God’s heart, the world is one. “The bond of original nature, which has bound us into ‘one’—this is our original bond. The bond of this fallen world is not our bond. This one heart that has bound us into one is the original bond.

Next, it is “our homeland, giving and receiving eternally,” is it not? Because we are bound into one by the bond of original nature, we come to give and receive eternally.

Otherwise, giving and receiving only temporarily, it all breaks apart. However much I like you and you like me and we love one another and so on, that cannot be a giving and receiving that lasts eternally. Why? Because it is a giving and receiving in a fallen world.

Only in giving and receiving eternally, centered on the heart of original nature, does our homeland first open up. Only after that does the word “happiness” first appear. The Teacher thinks thus.

We Are Happy

In the world, there are countless nouns. There are many good nouns and bad nouns. Of these, the bad nouns I do not need. With apologies, I do not need bad nouns. The best nouns in heaven and earth, in the world, are all mine. I am rather greedy. With apologies for this, I think, “The word ‘happiness’ belongs to Teacher Moon of the Unification Church.” You may say the young Teacher is exceedingly self-righteous, but I think the noun “happiness” is mine. The noun “satisfaction,” and indeed every noun the world calls good, I think, are all mine.

However happy one is in the world, it all breaks apart. However much the people of America boast of being an advanced nation, just wait and see. It all tumbles over. Because happiness is held in keeping, they are no more than its caretakers.

This is how I think. Since you are in a position to enjoy the highest glory in the world, you must be a person who can feel deep happiness even when you enter a place where all manner of people mock you.

The Teacher thinks that such a person is a truly happy person. This is why I regard the Unification Church members who follow the Teacher, who think thus, as also happy people. To the eye, they are forlorn and wretched, but just wait and see. Because their heart operates together with heaven and earth, and heaven and earth operate together with our heart, they raise their value by more than a hundred percent and can feel happiness within themselves—such are the family members of our Unification Church.

Who will rule over this happiness, this satisfaction, this ideal, this conviction?

Neither democracy nor communism can rule over it. However splendid the scholars and doctors, they cannot rule over it. But Teacher Moon of the Unification Church can rule over it.

How about it? Does it seem so?

The Unification Church family members are bound to listen to the Teacher’s word.

Whether fine or plain, they are bound to come under the rule of the Teacher of the Unification Church. Though countless people live in the world, I think no one can stand in the stead of the Teacher of the Unification Church. You will know this well. Why? Because there is a matter of the heart.

Are we happy people, or unhappy people? (“Happy people.”) These days, do you eat lunch, or do you not? (“We eat.”)

The Teacher in the old days wore only rags and spent much time in prison life. I did it almost as a hobby. When I am put in prison, I manage in good order. I have a lot of experience, you see. I also lived shoulder to shoulder with those given the maximum sentence and with all manner of criminals. This is why the Teacher is frugal. Once I speak to them, it goes well. When I begin, “You lived this way and that in the past, did you not?” they listen well. In the old days, it was so.

When the Unification Church started, too, when a pastor came in, I would, at the gate, give him a good thrashing and a scolding, saying, “You are such-and-such a person.”

The people who first came into the Unification Church did not come in after being witnessed to. But once they came in, they all changed the road they had been going and set out to witness. And as they went out witnessing, their feet would be rooted to the spot on the road, and they would receive a revelation, “There is so-and-so, an elder of such-and-such a church here; go and witness to him.” That is how it is arranged. It is arranged to judge.

There are countless problems in the present world, but hereafter one cannot help but study the Unification Church. The people of Korea must not fail to know the Unification Church. As I said the other time in Busan, even a country like Japan hereafter cannot help but know the ideal of the Unification Church.

The meaning is that, to save Japan, it can be done by nothing but the ideal of the Unification Church. Already, the upper classes are in contact with the Teacher. Korea makes light of the Unification Church. But just wait and see.

If the Unification Church were one to vanish before their foolish and ignorant blasts of denunciation, Teacher Moon would long since have bundled up his things and vanished.

In America, by next year, the Unification Church will be established in fifty states. This is why now is the busiest time. This tour, too, is in fact being done by force, when there is no time.

God Within an Immeasurable Heart

In the world, they say the Unification Church will collapse. But when the Teacher was being summoned and going to and from the courts, he dispatched missionaries to America and dispatched missionaries to Japan. At that time, the Teacher said, “In ten years I will overtake you.

So use whatever strategy you like, and do as you please.” Though I am confined, our Will intends to cast a net over Korea. Do you know what casting a net is? It means carrying out an encirclement operation. The Unification Church has come forth in this way.

People do not know what Teacher Moon of the Unification Church is now doing. That does not mean I am carrying out maneuvers to destroy my country. The intent is to raise the Korean people before the world as a people superior to any other. Such a world is now coming to be.

Hereafter, the bosses of Korea’s underworld will all come to move by my hand. That is now proceeding step by step. The people of the world abuse Teacher Moon of the Unification Church, saying that he has now joined hands with violent organizations. But I have a purpose. I intend to take the heads of the violent organizations, handle them, bring them to repentance, and set them up as pioneers of Heaven. The Teacher is thinking such thoughts.

There is much work that our Unification Church does. But people do not know it. They do not. The complexity up to the laying of this much of a foundation by the Unification Church today is not of the order of the complexity of the present administration of the Republic of Korea.

Social organizations on every side tried to hook me alone and finish me off, but I was not caught. My friends, just lay a little more of a foundation now in places like Japan and the various countries. We go forward with great ambitions.

Coming to Daegu today and seeing you—though an age of striding across the world upon a great stage is coming, how many young men and young women are there today with clear eyes and right thinking?

I go about seeking such people. I do not know how much trial I underwent in the course of establishing God’s Will. God has one shoulder an enormous mission and then drives one to the brink of death. He is that hard-hearted. What is sympathy? He is hard-hearted. Even when one vomits blood and collapses, He looks the other way and kicks one aside with His foot. Yet because I knew the heavenly decree, I endured it and overcame. At the very end, God weeps aloud. He weeps aloud, saying, “When you did such-and-such, I treated you this way; when you did such-and-such, I treated you that way.”

Then why does God treat one so?

It is to make one into such a person. Because I knew that, I have walked this path up to now.

I am thankful that the established churches persecute and oppose the Unification Church today. So I do not regard them as enemies. They do so out of ignorance, so it cannot be helped.

If I were an established-church believer, I think I too would have opposed it so. From the same position, one could do so. I can understand it. But you must be able to hold, after this, a church strength greater than the church strength they had when they opposed the Unification Church. Then I will praise you and push you forward. But when the Unification Church, after being opposed, fails to hold a church strength greater than when it was opposed, I may come to curse it.

If one has been called a heretical cult and a heretic, one must then develop further and prosper more than at that time; otherwise, one will be broken off. This is not the thing to speak of now, but you must know such things.

The Original Form, Welling Up with Life

(Holy Song “Heaven’s Warriors.”) The first verse meant that we must go forward centered on the heart; now, let us go on to the second verse. What appears? “Raising light with infinite character”—where is there an infinite character?

God’s character is infinite, and the character of Jesus Christ is infinite. Many power-holders and many Jews tried to violate Jesus’ character. But Jesus, over the course of history, was not ruled by them but rather ruled history. From that standpoint, Jesus’ character shines on forever. This is what eternal character is.

Then, from where did this infinite character begin?

It was not centered on Jesus himself. Because it was a character formed by reason of the infinite love of God and the bond of the heart, it could become an infinite character. What we hope for is an infinite character. A finite character I too dislike. Good today and bad tomorrow—I dislike that.

This is why our Unification Church members are right. Once the Teacher gives someone his trust, that person acts accordingly. However much those around oppose and criticize, he acts accordingly. It is strange. The people the Teacher gave his trust to were people who prayed to the end.

When those people pray, the spiritual world teaches them to follow the Teacher. But if they oppose and pray, it would be good if the spiritual world said, “Very well, cut off Teacher Moon of the Unification Church”; yet when they oppose and pray in earnest, it says, “You wretch, after I taught you so much, do you not know?

Brave the opposition and the loss of face, and go to him.” Why? It is because they have not yet come to their senses. There are many such cases.

Furthermore, when people who had opposed me see me on the road, their faces go black, and they do not know what to do. They do not know where to put themselves. To the point that one cannot tell whether they are women or men, they do not know what to do. The Teacher sometimes sees such a sight.

You must know that, once you have given your trust, you must not pass judgment before Heaven has dealt with it three or more times. The meaning is that this is human good faith.

Once you have given your trust—all the more if you have made a vow centered on an ideal—you must pass judgment only after that ideal has come to its end, whether it perishes or prospers; if you pass judgment before that, you have all your forefathers’ merit snatched clean away.

When it says, “Raising light with infinite character,” the infinite character needs no explaining. It naturally gives off something. What comes next? “The lighthouse of glory for all created things,” is it not? Such a character is the lighthouse of hope that all created things pursue.

What comes next? “Welling up with life,” is it not? If one is equipped with such a character, it is not dead. It wells up with life. “The original form, welling up with ‘life’—that very thing in which life leaps and pulses—is the original form that God made at the time of the creation. That is precisely “the original form, welling up with life.”

Next, “we shall bloom with the value of hope”—one “at last becomes the being of value that God hoped for when He created all things in heaven and earth, and gives off the fragrance of flowers for all ages.

That is the character God desires. Do you understand? You, too, entered the Unification Church to be equipped with such a character. Is it not so?

The Path of an Offering for the Nation

The next, the third verse, speaks of truth. “Establishing truth upon the framework of ”order”—what we now move forward in is not the movement of the world. In the world, it is, “If you do not pay, I cannot work. Without a salary, this body cannot move for a single day. Without pay, I cannot live.” That is how it is. But do you receive a salary? What salary is there to give? Not a penny is given; rather, you are told to offer. That you receive a salary is strange. Is it not? My friends, how about it?

Even when not paid, you work, do you not?

Even without money, you work, do you not? The women, too, is it not so? How forlorn this is! When I think quietly of you, I think that even bitter, bitter suffering is no more than your due. Why? Because we have stood, representing the people, in the position of an offering.

In the days of the Liberal Party, had Dr. Syngman Rhee heeded but a single word of Teacher Moon of the Unification Church, this nation would not have come to this today. Yi Ki-bung would surely not have died.

Park Maria would surely not have been ruined. Do you know what I said? But Dr. Rhee opposed it and so ruined the nation. Had he only heeded my word at that time, the communists would already all have been wiped out. Such is our ideal.

If, at that time, these people and the established churches had not regarded Teacher Moon of the Unification Church as a heretic but had only joined hands with him, we would have risen today to a worldwide standard. And the established-church pastors, too, would have been able to travel by airplane to and from the 120 nations of the world. So I understand it.

So with confidence, I have come this path up to now. The meaning is that God made it so. My friends, you learned it in the Principle of Restoration, did you not? It is laid out clearly, in terms of the Principle, that with forty years, one rises to a certain standard. This is why the Teacher went to North Korea.

When Esau and Jacob came to the position of having to fight, where did Jacob go?

He had to go into the world of the enemy. So the teacher, too, went to North Korea. While everyone was coming down to the land of the South, the Teacher went up to the North, carried out his work, and came down again to the South. The path of glory changed and became the path of the cross.

Had they welcomed me at that time, the established churches would surely not have come to this today. They would have become established churches able to save the world. The Republic of Korea today, too, would not have come to this. The administration of the White House in America would already be in our hands. But, to our bitter grief, it did not turn out so.

This is why the Unification Church members suffer. It is because we must indemnify what the people did wrong.

So the Teacher could not make a glorious start, but, his path blocked, he came to start from within prison. And in the Teacher’s own lifetime, he must be persecuted by the regimes of three nations.

What sin does the Teacher?

I loved this nation more than anyone. Going to Japan, I became a vanguard of the underground movement and carried out the independence movement; and when I was in Hwanghae in North Korea, I did the work of a secret courier. I am a person who worked with a patriotism stronger than anyone’s for the nation’s sake.

Even when I was in Japan, I never once visited a scenic spot. Though I was ragged and underfed, I went about seeking working students and did all manner of suffering for their sake. Why? Because I loved Korea.

If the Teacher wished to curse the people of Korea, he could curse them all he liked. Even if there is sorrow, there would be no sorrow greater than the sorrow the Teacher has suffered. But it is not the Teacher’s being persecuted that is the issue; the issue is how God’s providence of restoration is swayed. Because of whom have these people come to this? Just wait and see.

The 38th parallel is not being resolved, is it?

Had Truman heeded the word of MacArthur, who was called the hero of the march-north faction, it would have ended in September 1950, but because he did not heed MacArthur’s word, it ended in July 1953.

Who would have known that, by one person’s mistake, history would come to this?

But those who know, know. Those who do not know these circumstances so full of han do not know, but for those who know, the blood boils.

God’s Tactics and Strategy

Now what will become of Korea’s future?

The one who has prayed and prayed over such a question more earnestly than anyone is the Teacher of the Unification Church.

In 1962, when the Soviet Union sent warships into the Caribbean to make Cuba a military base, President Kennedy issued an order of naval blockade and said, “Strike! Only by striking now will democracy take root.” That was truly well done. After going into America, there was much hardship before the Unification Church developed this far. But the Teacher has not moved forward by listening to people’s words.

Through a course of hidden twists and turns and of struggle—how the Way of Heaven came forth, how the fortune of heaven and earth turns, how one should keep good time with the fortune of heaven and earth and place the needed person in the needed place, and how one should pass through the process of an offering—he has developed it forward.

If you simply think about it today, it will seem there is nothing to indemnify. But you must indemnify and restore what the Korean people failed to take responsibility for before Heaven in the past, and resolve the han of God. The Israelite people did wrong, and so Jesus suffered, did they not? It is the same.

God, who wishes to save this earth, sets the person He loves most at the head and drives him into the satanic world. Thereby, he has him beaten and so wrests it away. This is God’s strategy.

This is why the Unification Church is being beaten by thirty million people. At the height of the opposition, the Teacher was once put into Seodaemun Prison for three months, and after being released, I sent someone to ask the prison guards and prisoners what Teacher Moon had been like. They said, “Pah, don’t even speak of it. Even thinking of it now gives me chills.” And when asked, “Wouldn’t you like to meet that man once?” they shook their heads, it seems.

At that time, the Teacher was wearing a US Army jacket and dyed work clothes, with rubber shoes and a shaggy head of hair—so how would they know? It must have made quite an impression.

And when one asks a small elementary-school child, “Do you know Teacher Moon of the Unification Church? Have you actually seen him?” the child says he has. Then one asks, “Is that man a good man or a bad man?” And the child says, “My mom said that man is a bad man.”

Good publicity, was it not? Is it not so?

Good publicity. But on the day they say good things in such a place, the fighting disappears from the Unification Church. The meaning is that on the day they say good things, everything has passed. The calamity rather becomes a blessing.

These days, the Unification Church is rising in fortune and is well thought of. The established churches are falling lower and lower, and the Unification Church is rising higher and higher. Hereafter, Teacher Moon of the Unification Church will bring the most beloved filial sons and daughters of the established-church pastors and elders, teach them, and send them out to the witnessing front.

So our Unification Church has many young people. Among you, raise your hands, those under twenty-five. Yes, lower them. The average age of the members of the Unification Church is twenty-two. We must set these afire. It is because we must save this nation, this people, who are placed in misfortune. Waking or sleeping, the Teacher thinks such thoughts.

These days, they say Teacher Moon of the Unification Church is working in secret to become the president of this nation, but the Teacher wants no such thing as the Korean presidency. I will handle the world. I regard the likes of President Johnson of America or Khrushchev of the Soviet Union as trifling.

What do they know? I can teach them how the world ought to be handled hereafter. The Teacher thinks such things. You may think it strange that I say such words, but our Unification Church holds something of that kind.

The Price of Holy Sacrifice

My friends, listen to the Word of the Unification Church Principle. The Word of the Unification Church Principle is not a Word that came out of the books that have existed in history up to today.

It is not in the New Testament Scriptures, and you may search all the tens of thousands of books in a library and not find it. This is the sole publication of Teacher Moon of the Unification Church. In that sense, it is not false but true. If you cannot believe these words, stake your life and pray.

In the world, there are countless churches, countless denominations, and countless people who commune with the spirit world. They are all, spiritually, in the position of the Teacher’s disciples. The meaning is that they are all in the position of servants. The Unification Church Principle is enormous. The established-church pastors and elders do not know it well. It is not a Principle that will be criticized by them and knocked flat by them.

Do you know how much thought, how much prayer, this person called the Teacher, who sought this Unification Church Principle, gave?

Holding enormous content, passing through an enormous struggle, an enormous bloody battle, he has come forth and set up the signboard “Unification” upon this earth today. It is not that the Teacher does not know Christianity. He cannot tell you how greatly he longed for the noun “unification” to come forth from Christianity, facing them. He so demanded that the noun “unification” come forth, but eventually it did not. And yet, was he to take hold of that failed standard and go on? This is why one goes forth with countless spiritual worlds behind one, so that in the end, a truth must come forth that can handle that spiritual world.

We must establish truth on the path of restoration. So our movement must be nothing but truth. Is there a person who, with the heart of a parent, can take on the body of a servant and shed sweat for the earth, tears for humankind, and blood for Heaven? There is none. So if you set up one nation in such a position, the world can be conquered without trouble.

God has done so up to now. Because though He is the Creator who created all the universe, He became a God who could not establish the dignity and face of the Creator; He took on the body of a servant and came forth to find His lost children.

The meaning is that He has shed tears to bear children and shed blood and sweat to find one nation, one holy land. And He has paid countless sacrifices in the position of an offering.

Since God has walked such a path, to become the sons and daughters of God, we today too must go forward in such a position. This is why the Unification Church members say, “Let us of our accord walk the path of suffering. Let us walk the path of tears.

Let us walk the path of blood and sweat.” In shedding tears, one must shed them in the stead of the thirty million people; and in shedding sweat, one must shed it for the thirty million people, and beyond that, for the people of the world. Even vomiting blood and drawing out one’s blood, one must walk such a path.

There are many such people. Among our witnessing-team members, there are many who went out to witness after selling their blood. When the Teacher heard such a story, how do you suppose his heart was? It must be so, is the meaning.

This Teacher speaking here too, bearing a great mission from on high, has up to now devoted his whole life to walking such steps. You, too, should fittingly walk such a path.

Just as when the Teacher walked such steps, God cooperated with him and held him up, so the Teacher, too, holding such a heart, wishes to bind you in a bond with God. This is the Teacher’s heart.

Within such a heart, centered on the bond formed by God’s blood and tears and sweat, equipping within it the glory of being God’s sons and daughters, and gazing in hope toward the one day of appearing in victorious form before heaven and earth—to devote one year, two years, ten years, and on to one’s whole life: this is the path of the “warrior of unification.”

I stand before you in the position called Teacher, but I do not want comfort. I have the foundation to buy a fine house and live as well as anyone could envy. It is not that I lack such ability. But I do not want such a thing. A people without a nation is a pitiable people, and among them, a person without his people, his clan, or his family, is more pitiable still.

The Unification Church today is now in such a process. It has a great responsibility and mission of standing in this nation’s stead. This is why it is not the time to look at things individually.

So I send you out to the front, onto the hard path. This is absolutely not for the sake of the Teacher’s individual desire or purpose.

If I used the blood you shed and the sweat you spilled for an individual desire, I would suffer Heaven’s punishment. Your blood is offered up in holiness before God and becomes a material that can give life to all people.

Because I hope for the one day when that blood, shed as the blood of sacrifice, is brought to life again, and all people can bow their heads before it—and because I know that hope will without fail be realized—I have you walk such a path.

The Brilliant Culture Dawning in the East

(Holy Song “Heaven’s Warriors.”)

Looking at the third verse, “establishing truth upon the framework of order” appears, does it not?

That we move thus is not to be occupied by evil, but to establish truth upon the framework of order and occupy evil. So we must rear the substance of that truth.

What comes next?

“The unchanging value that promises eternity,” is it not? The truth we must establish must not be something temporary.

That we shed blood and sweat for this nation, this people, is, in the end, to realize the eternal heavenly kingdom, to realize a welfare that the descendants of a thousand ages can praise forever.

The unchanging value that promises eternity is indeed the unchanging value that will be with us eternally. These values join together one by one and grow ever greater, until at last a single true signpost of truth is set up. And so the signpost of truth, set up on high, will at last adorn “the boundless good day” that will shine forever and ever. Here “boundless” means without limit.

The meaning is that it adorns the good day without limit, beautifully. The meaning is that this truth adorns the day-to-day feelings of our lives, the content of our lives. Thereby, we become the pride, warriors of unification. That is how it is.

Looking at the fourth verse: “The brilliant culture dawning in the East—becoming brothers within that light over all the world—forever upholding the Parents of goodness whom He desired—surely we shall realize, one world—we are the pride, warriors of unification.” How splendid it is! My friends, let us all sing it once together.

Prayer
Father! How many grievous circumstances Thou hast had, who wouldst restore all the people of this earth, who ought to live for Thy sake! O Father! I consider that, after coming to know the Will, there are not many upon this earth who, with an earnest heart to be for Thy sake, and though a forlorn and sorrowful heart wells up, establish the way of loyalty before the Father according to that Word. Who would have known that Thou, who created heaven and earth, had such circumstances?

O Father! I truly give thanks that, among countless peoples, Thou hast watched over the pitiable band of unification. We know that this path we follow—this path that others reject and that others say is wrong—is a path that cannot be walked without tears, a path that must not be walked except with the resolve of death. When I consider that we ourselves have come, late though it be, to appeal before the Father with tears, on the one hand it is sorrowful and bitter; yet when I consider that we can stand in a place near to Thy heart, I am truly thankful.

Today Thy many children, scattered throughout the whole country, have flocked here; so grant that their gathering this time may not be in vain. They are bodies who have vowed to be loyal before the ideal of restoration Thou hast handed down, and who, pouring out all their devotion, have resolved to offer before Thee all that they have, so Thou knowest that they are bending mind and body and waiting, that if there be aught Thou intendest, Thou wouldst command them.

I know that the responsibility of restoring the whole of North Gyeongsang Province into the Father’s grasp has been entrusted to worthless us. We, who bear this overwhelming mission, cannot but feel awe each time we face the Father, today and tomorrow alike. Considering that Thou hast already borne such a burden, and each time I consider Thy love and the grace Thou hast given, I am thankful that there is the I of today.

I am truly thankful that today, in such an environment, Thou hast granted children who can remember the Father and shed tears for this people. When Thou askest who will love this land of Korea, and who will love all humankind of this world, it is long since we resolved in our hearts that we must be the ones who answer first and step forward. Grant—we earnestly beseech and desire, Father—that all we have resolved may be single-hearted, unwavering, never knowing change.

Now the final period is changing rapidly. We know that, at such a time, we have been gathered by a historical bond. Therefore, today is to be won, and tomorrow is to be pioneered; so make us warriors of Heaven who can vow today’s victory and tomorrow’s pioneering. O Father, we earnestly beseech and desire it.

My Father, who has watched over this body even amid tribulation! I know surely that there is a Father who commanded amid hardship and who, even on the path of despair, ordered me to go again, saying, “I am here.” Now, having rendered the way of loyalty before the Father and followed forth according to the Father’s command, I have already passed through harsh environments; yet I cannot but say that the Will the Father manages is profound and the Father’s providence is wondrous.

O Father! I have come to know that when hardship draws near, behind it Thou always comest bearing a gift. I have come to know that the Father loves the one who is beaten and blesses the one who endures and overcomes persecution; so, Father, remember the utter devotion with which today’s family members gaze upon Thee with all their hearts, and do not abandon them. We earnestly beseech and desire it. Grant that the tear-stained course of these may make flowers bloom in the garden of the Father’s heart, and work so that they may become shields of victory on the course of the cross the Father has left behind. We earnestly beseech and desire it.

This present period is a period vowed before the Father; now the laborers of unification will be scattered in every place and will accomplish the Father’s Word and the Father’s history of new life; so, O Father, shine a new and brilliant light before this people. We must become the fuse that will set afire the countless young men and women held captive by the power of darkness; so on this occasion, lead us with Thine almighty power. We earnestly beseech and desire it.

Now we stand on the course of restoration we must walk; so we must go though we die, and we must go though we live. Here, let the Father alone be with us. Grant—O Father, we earnestly beseech and desire that, even though it should mean falling, we may become Thy sons and daughters who can testify to Thee and be testified to by Thee.

Father, bless the North Gyeongsang district, and bestow still greater grace upon the city of Daegu. Grant that none of the comings and goings may be for my own sake. Since all is for the Father’s sake, is to establish the way of loyalty and filial piety before the Father, and is for the Father’s Will, we earnestly beseech and desire that the Father gather it in. Grant that nothing may be for the sake of human beings; and since it began as the Father’s, grant that it bear fruit as the Father’s. And we earnestly beseech and desire that we may become warriors of Heaven who prepare a foundation of victory in which the myriad saints of the spiritual world can rejoice.

I give thanks that Thou hast granted this hour today. While I give thanks before the Father for having met during this period, I also give thanks before the Father for having made us one. Still more, we, who must give thanks for living and dying alike centered on the Father’s Will, are bodies who have already resolved, staking our lives; so we earnestly beseech that all that comes to pass after today may be accomplished according to the Will Thou hast planned.

Watch over all the time that remains, Father, and grant—we earnestly entreat—that we may have one hour of victory. We know that countless warriors of unification are praying for this hour, so protect them too with the same grace. Earnestly entreating, we have spoken all these words upholding the holy name of the Lord. Amen. Upholding the holy name of the Lord, we have earnestly spoken. Amen.
