Because the ideal centering on God’s legacy of creation was destroyed, the history called the Providence of Restoration began. Had human beings not fallen, the ideal house would have been realized; but because they fell, the realization of a house of the Providence of Restoration began. This is a sorrowful fact.
God’s ideal of creation is the completion of the Four Position Foundation
Had they not fallen, Adam and Eve would have become the good ancestors of humankind. Had it been so, God and Adam and Eve would have become one, and the angelic world would have become one. Had that world become one, what would the center governing that world be? Had it become one, our sphere of living would have become a sphere of living of the Principle. It would have been institutionalized centering on the Principle. When we think of what the Principle is, from what did that Principle begin? It began with God’s Principle of Creation.
This created world resembles God’s character. We know that all created things are unfolded as divided bodies of dual characteristics. We know that they are connected by relative relationships — the subject and object relation, then the relation of above and below, the relation of front and back, the relation of left and right. What is the purpose of having such conditions in an environmental system? They move with love as their purpose.
Everyone, what is the ideal of creation?
It is the completion of the Four Position Foundation. Then what is the Four Position Foundation? It refers to the origin of true love centering on the parents. Next, it refers to the complete oneness of love between parents and children. That is not temporary but eternal. It is eternal and at the same time absolute. That starting point of love is unique and unchanging and absolute. Such love is not only in God, nor only in the father, nor only in the mother. It is established upon the foundation of the family.
The faithfulness of a family centering on that love is absolute, because love is absolute. And in every relationship too, this is absolute. There, because one being invaded means the destruction of the whole, it cannot be permitted. Therefore, the Four Position Foundation itself must defend and protect this even beyond its life in a matter where love may be invaded. What is the most fearsome thing? It is that this foundation of love be broken. What has expanded with that as one nucleus is the world.
And so, from the one family of Adam, a family of his sons arises, and the family of the parents and the family of the sons must become one. So when a Four Position Foundation has opened, this Four Position Foundation is moved to the Four Position Foundation of the future spirit world. Seen in this way, this spirit and body must become a straight line at ninety degrees. A straight line — there is only one road that can pass through this line, one road that can pass through these ninety degrees. There must be a center of the universe. There must be a center of the universe. Only then, even though a family of sons arises from Adam’s family…. The Four Position Foundation is the Four Position Foundation, but this family arose for the sake of this family. Therefore, this is the same. It lies here.
The highest textbook teaching love to humankind is the family of Adam that achieved true love
Now, thinking in this way, if there is a textbook of love within human history, from where would it have come? Where would a textbook of love be? It would have begun with Adam’s family. Therefore, what sort of people are the person called Adam and the person called Eve? They are the highest textbook teaching love to humankind.
That is why a man’s love must be like Adam’s, a woman’s love must be like Eve’s; there is nothing else. And next, while the parents are so, if there are children, what must the children’s love be like? It must be like the sons and daughters of Adam.
Seen in this way, Adam too wishes to boast of his sons and daughters and wishes to boast of his wife; and Eve too wishes to boast of her husband and wishes to boast of her sons and daughters; and the sons and daughters too wish to boast of their mother and father, and to boast of their elder sister if an elder sister, and of their elder brother if an elder brother.
Speaking of Adam, whom does Adam have?
He has Eve, and next he has children. Thinking in this way — when we look at Americans these days, they boast about themselves well. The other day when I spoke in Los Angeles — in the old days when we learned English in the Japanese colonial period, the Japanese said, “How individualistic Americans and Westerners are — among all the letters in a sentence, ‘I’ is always written as a capital letter,” and we laughed; but there is something to that.
Adam, before boasting of himself, boasts of Eve and boasts of his sons and daughters, so this is boasting of three people. He boasts of his wife, and boasts of his sons and daughters…. He wants to boast of them.
Now, suppose the four here each boast of themselves. What fun would there be? But if they boast of one another here, what would God be like, God? God boasts of me. “Hey, that is my son!” He boasts like that. That is how it should be; if one boasted of oneself here, what would God say when He saw it? He would say, “You fellow, you fellow…” If one boasts of oneself, one would later boast even before God, would one not, before God? Overall it becomes so.
Because God is the king of wisdom, what law does He establish? Being for one another…. The husband may boast of his wife. And the wife may boast of her husband. And the mother may boast to her sons and daughters that the father is fine. And it is all right to boast of the sons and daughters to the father, and all right to boast of them to the mother. Seen in this way, whomever the father boasts of, when he boasts of another person, it all comes back around. It is all right.
Let the father say to his sons and daughters, “I am finer than your mother.” The matter becomes complicated. Of course the father is fine and the mother is fine too, but among fathers there may be a father with a doctorate, and among mothers there may be a mother who could not study. Even so, does the father, with some knowledge, say, “Ah, I am the best…”? That will not do. In order for a family to be peaceful and for a family to furnish one system, one must speak with love. With love, with parental love…. It will not do with money, with knowledge, with power. With what? “Love.” Do you acknowledge that? “Yes.”
So what kind of love is that love? “True love.” What is true love, true love? “God’s love.” What is God’s love, God’s love? It is the love God likes. Then what is that love God likes? It is love that is for the whole. Then what is the opposite of true love? “Evil love.” Evil love is being for oneself. Such a theory is established.
The world of love for the benefit of others is the heavenly world
What do you wish to have? “True love.” These days in America, if one becomes a millionaire, one boasts greatly — do you give up money and all? “Yes.” And with a bundle of money piled up like this, and next a bundle of knowledge piled up — is a Ph.D. not good? “No.” Why “no”? Do you not all try to go to good schools, and make a fuss about how it will be if you get a Ph.D.? You do not want it? “Yes.” Next, power — when I take responsibility I dislike being invaded by anyone; if it happens even a little I will quit — do you not say such things? “No.” What is “no”?
All three of those have been wrapped up and set there. The more one looks, the more interesting they are; the more one looks, the more necessary they are…. Looking here and looking at the world, everything can be done as one pleases within my grasp, yet there is no law of love. Love is not even visible. So will you exchange everything for invisible love? “Yes.” Think about it — if that were true, how empty it would be. “No.” Then would the people of the world, the citizens of America, be interested in carrying this bundle around, or in carrying around the invisible bundle of love? “The invisible bundle of love.” If one asks one’s own heart about this, the invisible bundle of love….
Our young ladies — when you marry, do you look at whether the person has knowledge, has money, has power, or do you look at whether he has love? Which do you look at? Now, how is it? How do the people of the world think? Do they look at that or not? Do they think about it or not? How is it with you? Everyone, is it better to wear good clothes or to wear bad clothes? Is it better to wear good clothes and love, or to wear bad clothes and love? What do those words mean? They mean that it is necessary.
Now, between a person who wears good clothes and loves and a person who dresses any old way and loves, which is better to look at? However good the clothes one wears, before a true person, that is all useless. Does one love only wearing good clothes, only wearing silk, only in a royal palace? You must know that the laborers of a thatched hut love even in a place that smells. Then which is better? Which would be better? Which on earth is better? What could be better — I do not know. That is why, however much one loves in a royal palace, love centered on oneself goes to hell; and however much one loves a lowly laborer, love that is for one another goes to the kingdom of heaven.
When one thinks so, from there two worlds open. A world of love for one’s own benefit is the satanic world. A world of love for the benefit of others is the heavenly world. It divides sharply like that. Would it not be good if it were the opposite? Why is it so? How good it would be if it were the opposite, if it were the opposite?
You have learned through the Principle the relationship of subject and object, the relationship of subject and object. This must without fail act. What we must know here…. Today it is said that in this universe there is force. It is said that it is made of force. Can that force simply arise? That is why the question is which comes first, energy or action. That is a great question.
The center connecting the directionality in which subject and object act is love
Think about it. Which comes first? Without the relationship of subject and object, force cannot arise. There are many elements, but one cannot go into a chemistry laboratory and forcibly make elements move and combine as one pleases. They combine according to the element that is relative to them; it is not that the one in charge of the experiment in the laboratory says do this and do that and they combine. That is why the relationship of subject and object must without fail be established. Only then does action break out. Action is formed by the relationship of subject and object, and force appears by action. One must see it that way.
Then what is there before force? The logic is established that there is action. What is there before action? There is the relationship of subject and object. On such a basis, subject and object act, but they do not act before discovering the benefit of a common purpose jointly connected. This is the common law of the universe.
Everyone, what is “good”? It refers to what is of benefit. What is “bad”? It refers to what is of loss. Is that not so? It is the same. If I push, it falls away; it falls away. When there is loss, however much one tells it to go, it does not go. Even while going, it keeps turning back. It is arranged that way. That is why all our existence has the quality of being able to communicate with an object partner, the quality. Any existence whatsoever…. That is why a woman needs a man and a man needs a woman. For a woman to say, “Ah, if there are only women, that is enough. Women alone will do,” is to ignore the origin of existence.
What is there before force? “Action.” From what does action come forth? Does it act even where there is loss? “No.” If there is benefit, does the benefit spread one to the east and one to the west and throw it all away, or does one gather it up neatly and attach it to oneself? Would it pile up following one directionality, or pile up at random? Which is it? “Following directionality….” It piles up by directionality; and if plus and minus both piled up together, would those piled up together curse each other, saying, “You wretch,” or would they like each other on seeing each other? “They would like each other.”
Then what is the center connecting the directionality by which those two can like each other? For human beings, for man and woman, it is love. Does that feel good or bad? “Good.” Does that love have directionality or not? “It does.” Then that directionality of love — can the love centering on man and woman be connected to centering on a greater love, or not? “It can.” That is why the lord of love who loves between those two is connected with the lord of a greater love, and is connected with the lord of a greater love. Do you understand what I mean? “Yes.”
The bridge by which heaven and the Cosmos can commune is the Four Position Foundation
To what do you belong? You belong to the Unification Church, do you not?
Unification Church! And next, to what do you belong? You belong to America. To what does America belong? “The world.” To what does that world belong? “God.” Then America is good and the Unification Church is good and the world is good and the greater God is good; but there must be one road by which all of that can commune, there must be a road that can connect them — what road must that road be? If that road were the road of money, how good it would be, if it were the road of money! Today people say “knowledge”; if it were the road of knowledge, how good it would be, knowledge? “We do not want it.” How about force, force? “We do not want it.” Whether knowledge or money or force, there is not one person who would approve of this.
We Unification Church people are worthless people and people who cannot think of anything, so we say love is best, is that it? “No.” Have your heads not turned? “No.” If so, I will believe that too. This cannot be helped. It is an unavoidable conclusion. Then what would the people of the past have been like? Would the same answer come from the people of the past too? “No.” And it is so with the people of the present too; what will the people of the future be like? “No.” What is “no”? These days, with disco dancing and all, they do love and everything as they please; where is there direction, direction?
Therefore one road must be connected. So from man and woman, from husband and wife, to the family, to the nation, to the world, wherever one goes one can be welcomed…. Does it seem it would be so? “Yes.” The road of love is the road of love, but what road of love is it? It is the love God likes, the love God likes. Furthermore, is that love a love to which people bear witness, or a love to which God bears witness? Because that love is a love to which God bears witness, every existence that resembles God’s character cannot oppose the road that love walks, and is bound to welcome it.
It is only because this is detached like this; if one drew this as it is, what picture would it become? It is simple. The center of the universe is centered on this by which heaven and the whole Cosmos can commune. (He spoke while drawing a picture) It becomes like this. What is all of this? It is the Four Position Foundation. Do you understand? “Yes.” What do these words mean? They mean that wherever it may be, on the road of furnishing the character of a Four Position Foundation, such content, a bridge by which love can pass, is connected. This is the common law of the universe. What has passed here has passed there too, and has passed there too. And it is welcomed there too, and welcomed there too. One can exist wherever one goes. One can be welcomed wherever one goes, wherever one goes.
Now, let me ask one thing. The man is made any old way and the woman is made any old way, and when the two are seen, it does not seem they could live with any attraction at all; yet they live astonishingly well. Then could that person think, “Ah, what a fate mine is, that I should get a woman like that and look at that face all my life; when I die I shall get a fine woman once…”? Could he, or not?
But if one says, “True love is that one lives better and is happier centering on an ugly person like myself. That can receive more of God’s love and receive more of God’s blessing,” how splendid that is! If they live that way, sons and daughters as fine as God are born to them. And thus from above God praises them, and below there are sons like God who praise them, saying, “Our father and mother are truly fine.” And when the people around them see it too, they say, “Ah, fine parents. A fine son.” Such a thing breaks out.
If one thinks centering on oneself, God runs away too, and the sons and daughters run away too, and even that woman disappears. What will happen in the end? One loses everything, and loses even love, and drifts away. That is so. In fact, it is so. Where there is love that is for others, development is bound to follow. Now you have come to know this….
The training ground of true love is the family
Now look. Seen centering on such an actual state, there is a Four Position Foundation in the family too. Here there are mother and father, and next there are sons and daughters. Seen centering on an organization too, it is the same. If there is a president, there is the president’s couple. And next, here there are men and women. It is the same. It is the same with the Unification Church. Do you understand what I mean?
In America too, there is a president, and people speak of a First Lady and so on, do they not? There are men and women. It is the same. Even if the world becomes one, it is the same. It is only larger; it is the same. Is that so, or not? “It is so.” It is the same with heaven and earth.
Then what must be done? What we must know here is where this ideal training is given. Where is the training ground of the ideal framework? It is the family. Therefore, how must one think? Where did my father come from? He came from the heavenly kingdom; he came from the great world — one must think this way. He came from the heavenly kingdom. And next, where did he come from? He came from the world. And next, where did he come from? He came from America. He came through some clan of America, and thus appeared as my father — hold such a notion. It is the same with the mother. Where did the mother come from? So, our mother is a representative of the heavenly kingdom, our mother is a representative of the world, our mother is a representative of America, our mother is a representative of our clan in America — the Smiths if Smith, the MacDonalds if MacDonald — and thus she was dispatched to our house.
Why must this mama and papa marry? Because there is no road by which one can be connected with this world; because that road was cut off, marriage is the achieving of harmony here to connect this. One ties these two cords together here. And so if the two pull this cord, the whole universe is pulled along. Think about it. Have you thought such a thing? “Yes.”
If one catches with this net of two loves, even if one catches America, even if one covers America, it purrs; and even if one surrounds God, He purrs. If one has only this that was spoken of a moment ago, one can pass anywhere. One can pass anywhere. That a couple says, “Ah, this is good,” means that the universe, God, the whole says “mm, mm” in delight. The two hold each other and become one and turn. If one dances and turns alone, how awkward and unsightly that is. But when two hold each other and like each other, it is harmonious. Why is it good? It is harmonious. Why is it harmonious? Because this is ideal. Because it is an ideal union.
Seen in this way, if there is one device that can cut this off and break this apart, what would that device be? In that, how great an enemy is this loving of oneself! God is a God of love, so why can He not forgive Satan the devil? Jesus said, “Love your enemy,” but do the words “love your enemy” mean to love Satan, or what do they mean? “They mean to love the enemy person.” That is so. It means to love the enemy person; it does not mean to love the enemy Satan.
The road of Providence is the road of sacrifice and the road of indemnity
What is Satan? What is Satan?
Although the original mind of all of us human beings is an original mind of love that is for others, and although it welcomes that, the setting up of love that is for oneself is Satan. Is there any objection to that? “No.” Because this is the root that breaks the universe apart, Heaven cannot forgive it. It cannot be forgiven. Because it is the will of God’s Providence, because it is the road of the Providence, to establish such a way in the midst of this evil fallen world, this world where everything centers on itself, the road of the Providence of following God says, “Sacrifice, serve.” It tells everyone to sacrifice themselves. Do you understand what I mean? That is why religious people have, until now, undergone insult.
Why is it called the Unification Church? What is the Unification Church, the Unification Church? What do the words “unification” mean? They mean that one must walk the road of sacrifice that unites all religions, the road of indemnity. What do those words mean? Do they mean that the Unification Church is the easiest to believe in? “No.” What is “no”? Then what is it?
The Unification Church is the most difficult, the hardest to believe in. To become a true family member of the Unification Church, one must sacrifice centering on oneself, and must be able to sacrifice even one’s wife, and be able to sacrifice even one’s children, and be able to sacrifice even the Unification Church, and if there is a Unification Church nation, even the Unification Church nation, and if there is a Unification Church world, be able to sacrifice even the Unification Church world. It must be a band with such a thought.
Now, for Reverend Moon to make the Unification Church truly into a Unification Church that can be set before this world hereafter, the Unification Church must be sacrificed. Why so quiet? Are you confident of passing here? “Yes.”
Now, there are blessed men and women, and when someone says, “Ah, the Unification Church is hard; I cannot go to a church where one puts the baby in a nursery school and the wife runs around on CARP activities.
Let us leave, let us leave,” what must be done?
How do the women feel? At such a time one must thunder at him, “You wench, are you doing that to ruin Heaven, and ruin your husband, and ruin your children, and ruin everything?” Do you want that? “Amen.” I do not say amen, I do not! Am I to say amen too? “Yes.” I do not say amen. Then what does one do? One drags you along by sacrificing you.
God has until now sacrificed the people He loved. God sacrificed Himself too, but He sacrificed the people He loved. He sacrificed His beloved clan, tribe, people, nation, and the Christians of the whole world. And to continue that Providence until Satan says, “Before you I cannot obstruct” — that is the Providence of Restoration. A religion that can do that…. Is Christianity so? Is Buddhism so? No religion could do so, no religion. Only one, the Unification Church, the Unification Church persecuted throughout the world, says Let us try it once. Do you understand what I mean? “Yes.”
The Providence of Restoration is a Providence of being struck one stage ahead and taking back
What sort of person is Reverend Moon?
How is Reverend Moon? I am the same. In walking the formula course of the Providence, I am the same. When I seek to sacrifice for the will and my wife and sons and daughters oppose it, I go even cutting them all off. Parents too, and wife and children too — even though all oppose, I go.
So Reverend Moon is a person who cast away even his parents, a person who cast away his friends, a person who cast away his wife and children, a person who cast away even his nation, a person who cast away everything. Do you understand what I mean? “Yes.”
You say that the road the Unification Church walks is the Oriental way, but what would be Oriental about it? It is not. If it were the Korean way and the Oriental way, why would I be opposed? And why would I be opposed in America? If it were the American way, why would I be opposed in America? If I did disco dancing and went about drinking, what would there be to oppose? The way I do is neither the American way nor the Oriental way. It is the heavenly way. (Applause)
Now, what does God do?
God has until now been in heaven and, entering here, has passed through a history in which, in loving, He loved the individual, the family, the clan, the people, all of these. What is uniquely different about the one Reverend Moon among religious leaders is that he follows the principle by which God says He will carry out such love. It is because, after I was called before Heaven, I said, “The people of the world could not walk this road, but I will walk it.”
When I was in Korea, I loved the members of the Unification Church more than myself. I loved them more than my parents, more than my wife and children. And because of that, my mother and father and my wife and children opposed. Do you understand what I mean? That is why the family was all broken apart. That is why the family was divided. It comes forth that way.
One must walk that road. It is so individually and on the family level, and so on the clan level and the people level…. And thus, after loving more, one finds the family after loving the clan, and finds the clan after loving the nation, and finds the nation after loving the world, and must find the world after loving heaven and earth. The history of Restoration comes forth that way. One carries on a history of being struck one stage ahead and taking back.
Now, do I love America or not? “You love it.” I give everything and go. You have incurred a debt. You have incurred a debt. Will you repay that debt with money, or with force? “No.” One must repay it with love. Thereby, because I love you, you are…. Speaking of Korean people, you have come to think of even a person shaped like a gourd shell as being like the Teacher. So do you not all say you will marry Korean people? Why is that? Why is that? It is that you would repay the debt. Your original mind seeks to repay the debt.
Look. Korea and America are this far apart, and Reverend Moon came and, coming here and doing this, and coming here and doing this, on and on like this…. (He spoke while writing on the board) Where do they join? They come here and join in the middle. They meet at extreme and extreme, at extreme and extreme. Here, below this is Korea. Below that ground is Korea. It is a difference of one hour. The distance is not much, one hour. The very bottom below here is Korea. Do you understand what I mean?
By what are those extreme and extreme joined?
By love, woven with a net of love, with a net of love. This is not human power. Is it that Reverend Moon works some magic? Just as when spring comes, new shoots come out, in God’s world of love you sprouted and all found your faces, and the fortune by which East and West can join is being exchanged. You must know that such a fact is an astonishing fact.
To live in the house of the Providence, one must have absolute faith, absolute character, absolute love
Now, so what is today’s title? What is the title? “House of Providence.” You said “House of Providence”; then what is God planning? To make one house, one house. Then is it a small house or a great house? “A great house.” It is a great house, but how is it built? It is the expansion of the house, the expansion of the house. It is the expansion of the house. That is why the Unification Church speaks of the Blessing. What is blessing? What is marriage, marriage?
Look. What must you do to receive the Blessing?
It is the principle that a fallen human being goes out from here, out into this fallen world, goes all the way outside here and indemnifies and comes in and receives the Blessing. Only then does Satan not follow behind me. Satan does not follow. Is that so with you? Now, as was said a moment ago, a person who lives in the ideal house must be a person with eternal love, absolute love, unchanging love.
Then to what degree must one believe in a person?
How much must one believe? One must believe absolutely. What sort of person was the unfallen Adam of old? What is the first thing Adam had to have? It is absolute faith, absolute faith. Toward whom? “God.” And next? “Eve.” And next? “The children.” Do you have that? You are steeped in the habits of American culture and are divided as you please. Habit, habit! You are all steeped in habit, are you not?
Everyone, you like hamburgers, do you not? “Yes.” That is habit. A fellow who oversleeps in the morning always has the habit of oversleeping. “I learned this way and I live this way, but this Unification Church way, the Teacher, is wrong” — such people…. Do you not think that Heaven is moving above you and the Providence of Restoration is being advanced? “We think so.” Then what will the road that Reverend Moon of the Unification Church walks be like? God is more concerned with it than you are. It is different. That is the problem. Everything you have learned by habit until now is of no use whatsoever there. Of no use whatsoever. There, knowledge or money or power is of no use whatsoever. Only the center of love…. (The recording was briefly cut off.)
What relation do the citizens of America have to the Providence of Restoration, and what relation does power have, and what relation does knowledge have? They opposed, opposed. Is that so, or not? “It is so.” Your habits and cultural background until now have all become enemies. They have not been of the slightest help to the Providence of Restoration. They are of no help to love. Were they of help on the road of love? You must know that clearly. What kind of glasses does God wear to look? He looks wearing the glasses of love. To those glasses, love centered on oneself is an enemy, an enemy. You must have absolute faith.
Next is absolute character. Satan cannot come and do as he pleases. When they whisper beside you, do you waver or not? “We do not.” The one who comes and says, “Do not report this one thing to anyone whatsoever,” is Satan. And one who hears those words and does not report them also becomes Satan’s side. One becomes Satan’s side, the archangel.
When Satan says, “Eve, eat it,” one must go to God at once and report it. One must report, “He tells me to eat this; must I eat it or not?” If one does not report at once, you too become Satan’s side. If one carries it hidden, one goes to hell. Hell — do you understand what I mean? “Yes.” You must know that if you do not report it, you are on Satan’s side. One must report immediately. Even if told not to report, one must report. Do you clearly understand that? That is not loving one’s friend. Because of that one person, countless people are sacrificed.
For example, when Satan comes out and says to Reverend Moon, “Ah, do not report this to God,” and I say, “All right,” and promise not to report it to God, what happens? I become Satan’s side, Satan’s side. You must know clearly. You must know clearly. There is a principle to it all. It is so with Mr. Pak here too. If Mr. Pak has heard something, he must report it to me. If he does not report, he is at once dragged onto Satan’s side. And our officers too may say, “Ah, let us report good things to the Teacher and not report bad things,” but this is all Satan, Satan.
If one falls ill, one must operate quickly. Does one operate on oneself? Who cuts? Who is the one who cuts? The Teacher must cut; it is not arranged that just anyone, Neil or Mr. Pak, cuts.
If one cuts wrongly, one is caught by heavenly law. One is caught by the law. Do you understand what that means? “Yes.” If such a system is not firmly established hereafter, the communists will infiltrate. You must know clearly. Do you understand what I mean? One must report at once to one’s own person in charge, and the person in charge must report immediately to his superior.
If there is anyone who has been so until now, anyone who has held such content until now, report at once. If there is such a person, he is Satan before his person in charge, Satan. Satan must be dealt with severely. Do you understand what I mean? Each of you must observe such things hereafter. Do you understand? Absolutely do not be shaken by Satan and listen to Satan’s words and act this way.
The Teacher does not worry about someone falling away in America…. There is God. God — when something goes against the principle, when the one who went against it leaves, He sends in someone better than that. He without fail sends them. In exchange, did Reverend Moon fail in his responsibility? I did not fail in my responsibility. You must know clearly.
Next is absolute love. There is only this. Reverend Moon, even when the communists put him in prison and did all manner of things, loved God to the very end. In believing God, one believes absolutely. If I promised, what I promised is absolute; and if He commands me, I take it as absolute. Whether it is hard or easy is not a problem at all.
Even in prison a filial son must play the part of a filial son. A loyal subject must play the part of a loyal subject even after entering prison. Even so, in that position, “Ah God, I am in prison…” — I never once prayed such a prayer. I said, “God, do not worry! I will break through from the very bottom of this communist world all the way to Moscow.” I thought I must break through the communists all the way to Moscow. Do you understand what I mean? So God trusts me. Because God trusts me, I did not perish and did not die.
Furthermore, one does not go back and forth. It is absolute. One does not go back and forth. It is not going back and forth while reading the signs. Let the world oppose if it will oppose. One kicks off and goes forward. Let us see who breaks. And next is absolute love. That is the road Adam must walk. That is the possession Eve must have, possession. Do you understand what that means? “Yes.” If one has only this, the world all comes running in. All under heaven comes running in.
Now, though I have not a penny and have no power whatsoever, the world is coming to me. If countless people need money, I will lend it. So you must stick out your chest and say, “God, test my faith,” must you not? When Satan seeks to test you, you must say, “God, rather than Satan, You test me.”
Everyone, have you thought such a thing?
Even if one is tested in character, centering on character, one is not dragged off by Satan. However beautiful a woman comes and tempts, and however many all manner of sweet words are spoken, one is not dragged off. Do you understand what I mean? “Yes.” One stands firm, centering on absolute love.
In loving, one must love God more than one's own mother, more than one's own wife, more than one's own children. To love God more, one must sacrifice even the members of the Unification Church. Then the members of the Unification Church will receive God’s love and will receive Reverend Moon’s love. The later generations of the Unification Church will boast of you. Do you understand what I mean? “Yes.”
Unification members must establish a tradition of absolute faith, absolute character, and absolute love
The Teacher has been educating you, “Sacrifice for America! Sacrifice for the world!” I came to America and suffer like this. I lay out all the property I have and carry on this business. Because of America, I make Korean people suffer, make Japanese people suffer, and make even European people suffer. Is that so, or not? “It is so.” So will you not suffer? That perishes. It perishes. That is why I intend to make you suffer more. I intend to make you suffer more than the Europeans, more than the Japanese, more than the Koreans. Only then is love received and a tradition formed.
Is that wrong? Is that wrong? Is that wrong? “No.” Is it wrong that I would make you into people who can love America more than me? Do you not know that America wants it, and the citizens of America want it, and your ancestors who have gone to the spirit world want it? Do you understand what I mean? If the whites cannot do it, the blacks will follow, and if the blacks cannot do it, I believe the Hispanics will follow Reverend Moon’s tradition.
Having set this up, after eight more years pass, if everyone runs away, I will take hold of Asians and appeal to them. If I invest in them the money I used in America, if I invest more than that, they will become completely one with me. At present I am making Asians suffer. Do you understand what I mean? “Yes.” It will be as the Teacher says. I came seeking white people and love white people. I advance even people with no merit at all. Let anyone who wishes to protest to the Teacher protest. Is that wrong? You must know that clearly.
Your heads must not wobble. This head must not waver. The communists whisper, and all manner of people whisper. Everyone, do you believe in the Unification Church like that? To what degree do members of the Unification Church believe? Do you believe as much as the Teacher, as much as the Teacher? “Yes.” Then has the Teacher succeeded?
Now, character, absolute character! Absolute character is the standard that, centering on love, one absolutely does not go deep in matters between man and woman. In the old days you did all manner of things in all manner of messes, did you not? So even after entering the Unification Church, do you not think, “Ah, I miss the old days…. Would it be good to live like that”? “No.” What is “no”? If you receive the Blessing that way, it is a serious accident. That is why in the Unification Church one must walk a three-year course after marrying. One must pass through three years. Do not think of it even in a dream. Do you understand?
Absolute love, absolute love — with whom does one begin? With whom does one have absolute love? “God.” And next? “The True Parents.” And next? “The True Children.” You do know something. You must know that clearly. You must know it clearly. Without this being established, the Four Position Foundation is not formed.
Who can explain your mother and father to the world and say that they are not your mother and father? “No one.” That is absolute. It is absolute. It is the same. When one becomes husband and wife, one must think that way. That is absolute. You must know that, just as I cannot deny my mother and father, one cannot deny one’s own wife. Because they are such a husband and wife, one cannot deny the child of such a husband and wife. One cannot deny the child. Must one not establish a tradition, a tradition?
The house of the Providence must be built centering on the True Parents
So, everyone, to what degree do you believe centering on the True Parents of the Unification Church? Why are True Parents necessary, True Parents? What are True Parents? Where must you go if you would walk the course of indemnity? You must go outside. You must all go out. You must go out and fight. You must go out into the realm of the satanic world. Going out that way, you must receive public recognition from God that you won victory. Can you pass through such a road?
This is only the earthly world, but there is a boundary line in the spirit world too. If there is God, one must enter the spirit world and open up even this road of the spirit world before God. One must open the road for later generations. One must open the road of the spirit world here and come to the earthly world, to the earthly world. Do you understand? One must receive judgment in the spirit world. One must receive judgment. One must possess in the spirit world the realm of unification, the authority that can unify the spirit world. What is that? That is what is called absolute faith, absolute character, absolute love. Do you understand what I mean? “Yes.”
That is why the one who comes bearing the right of judgment is the Lord of the Second Advent. The Lord of the Second Advent — what does he do coming here? He works, works. He breaks through. From the individual to the family, clan, people, nation, he tears down all these walls. For that, can a thousand people, ten thousand people do all this? “No.” That is why he comes representatively and teaches it all through. Each time he crosses this pass, he fights with the Four Position Foundation staked. He always fights with the Four Position Foundation staked. Why? Because the Four Position Foundation was lost in the Garden of Eden; one crosses over by carrying out a worldwide confrontation centering on the Four Position Foundation.
And so, centering on the Parents, centering on the Parents’ family, it expands outwardly into a clan form, a people form, a national form. In this way the clan of Adam is formed. The clan of the unfallen Adam is formed. Not the fallen Adam. Because the Teacher laid a foundation on which he can win victory in these two worlds, he carries on such business upon the earth today. What is that? It is the Principle. The Principle — let us go the road of the Principle. The Principle, the Principle. It is the Four Position Foundation, the Four Position Foundation.
Seen centering on Jacob, when they went down to Egypt centering on Jacob’s twelve sons, it was seventy-two people. Seen centering on Moses too, it is twelve tribes and seventy-two disciples. Seventy-two disciples — seen centering on Jesus too, it is twelve disciples and seventy-two disciples, is it not? It is the same in the Teacher’s age. Twelve families and seventy-two, so in seven years these eighty-four became one. Centering on seven years, since the twelve families became one…. Only then does it pass everywhere, everywhere.
The basis on which the Teacher too must bear twelve sons centering on Mother comes from here. It means that he must have twelve children. Do you understand? So in a twenty-year course all that business unfolds. Now if just one more is born, it is enough, just one. So now, centering on three generations, it becomes more than seventy-two. Does it seem it will be so? Will it become seventy-two while the Teacher is alive, or not? “It will.” Otherwise the Providence of Restoration cannot be carried out. Because Heaven is rushing, even though Mother simply suffers, it just keeps unfolding on and on. Can one bear children as one pleases? “No.” That is why, when we look at the Unification Church centering on our family, this is Abel-type, and centering on this Abel-type form, all the Cain-type forms are connected.
Now, when it becomes so, centering on the Teacher’s family, the long-established blessed families of Korea all become a fence, and then bridges are laid on and on. It is not arranged that one should say, “The Korean leaders are this and that….” Hereafter black people too will stand before you and all …. Do the Korean officers know the Teacher’s history and the history until now better than you, or do you know it better? “No.” So you must learn. It would be good if I thought it all, would it not? “Yes.” That would be good, but is there time for that? Is there?
Now, if you American people say so, the English people say so too, and the German people ….
If I stay three years in England, and Germany asks me to come and stay three years, and all of them do so, how can I be with them for a whole lifetime?
That is why, unavoidably, I set up representatives and say, “You who have been here long, teach in my place.” Is that wrong? Those people did not come here to lay a foundation of power and to be treated well. They came to teach you. So they are strict. They are different from you. They are strict. Only then it is fast, the turning. If done that way, will it turn or not? “It will turn.”
When man and woman become one, centering on the True Parents, the Four Position Foundation is accomplished
That is why the house of the Providence becomes like this, the house of the Providence. What is different about Reverend Moon is that in his lifetime, while alive, he raised worldwide issues more than any religious leader in world history, received worldwide opposition, and made the whole world raise an uproar. This is what is different. That is why, for the Teacher to walk the course of individual indemnity, the Teacher as an individual too must be opposed worldwide, and his family too must be opposed worldwide. It is so with our Mother, and even our children are persecuted. They raise an uproar about Reverend Moon’s household being this and that. That is why our Ye Jin says, “Because Father is famous, it is truly difficult to play the part of the daughter of a famous father.” Ah, at the slightest thing, word already gets out, and this and that — everyone watches.
It is the same with you. All the brainwashed Moonies are this and that …. These days the words “Korean CIA” will have disappeared because President Park has died. Now they will say the American CIA. Our Unification Church members who are now abroad are opposed as being the American CIA, as American spies, are they not? But why would the CIA follow Reverend Moon around, the CIA? Now, do you understand what I mean?
So the reason True Parents centering on such a standard is necessary is that the True Parents have the content that can lay every bridge in this history of indemnity.
If you just cling to the Teacher’s tail and follow along, it becomes the same state as a fly clinging to the tail of a running horse, which goes a thousand li when the horse goes a thousand li. It is the same. So the Teacher is necessary.
Now, would it have been good if I were white? How about it? “No.” If I were white, I would have been beaten to death by black people. Look. When blacks and whites fight, is there anyone besides an Asian who can graft them together? “That is so.” That is why Reverend Moon appeared in America in such an interesting way. Also, there is only the Unification Church that connects Western civilization and Asian civilization. Does it seem so? “Yes.”
Let those here who have made international marriages raise their hands, those who have made international marriages. Hey! Who made all that for you? “Father.” What kind of seed does this later become? Where will you live? Where is it? It is the house of Providence, the house of Providence. The house of the Providence was not made carelessly but was made according to such a principle of heavenly law. That such a movement was accomplished centering on God’s love, to settle the whole historical background of God’s Providence of Restoration and to digest all the difficult problems of humankind, is a tremendous fact. The small house continues to grow, and not only the one house of the world but even God, even the whole spirit world, are all connected by the principle of the Four Position Foundation and made one.
Centering on our Unification Church, when this man and woman become one with the True Parents, this is the Four Position Foundation.
Everyone, do you really love the Teacher? “Yes.” I do not believe it. “We love you.” Let that be; then will you love only the Teacher? “We love Mother too.” Will you love Mother too? “Yes.” What the Parents want is that you love one another more than you love the Parents. Why does the Teacher love? You must know that the Teacher’s love is nothing but his becoming a textbook and teaching Heaven’s love so that you can love one another. Do you understand what I mean? “Yes.”
In the old days, if a black person came, everyone ran away, did they not? How is it now? Now the black person runs away, the black person. And next because there are yellow people here, the black man cannot but come in.
Sons and daughters are participants in the parents’ love and the substance of love
So what is the ideal age hereafter? In the age of God’s ideal of creation, Adam is the parent and at the same time Adam is the chief of the clan, and Adam is the chief of the people, and Adam is the head of the nation, and Adam is the king, the king. He holds kingly authority. Everyone has the desire to hope, “It would be good if our father became king.” Is that not so? “It is so.” That is a right saying. That, from the family on, everything…. God is our Father and at the same time the King, God.
Originally, had Adam not fallen, God would have entered right into Adam. Among the dual characteristics, the masculine character enters Adam and the feminine character enters Eve, and when the two love, they become one. Becoming one through love, they appear upon this earth as the center of substance. Love is exceedingly holy. Yet until now Satan has made love into something foul.
Then what are sons and daughters?
They are participants who have taken part in the love of mother and father. You must know that. Do you understand what I mean? They are participants in the love of mother and father. You must know that you are participants in the love of your mother and father. Is that so, or not? “It is so.” That is why they are one body with mother and father, one body. Centering on love.
If love is taken out, the life of mother and father and your life are dragged away. Why can parents not sacrifice for their sons and daughters and love their sons and daughters? Because that is themselves, themselves. It is their love, their love. It is the substance of the love in which mother and father were joined.
Behind the substance in which mother and father joined centering on love, though there is nothing of what they loved until now, the object that appears as substance and bears witness is their sons and daughters. When one looks at that baby, it seems like God, and seems like one’s own wife, and seems like oneself, and the more one looks, the more mysterious it is. It is mysterious. Love is like that. So can you be unfilial to your parents? Can you be separated from your parents? Can you be separated? “No.” Yet American families are all breaking apart and are all carrying on in violation of the principle of heavenly law.
Then what are brothers and sisters?
They are participants in the same love. They are fellow workers in the same love of the parents. So can they fight one another? They cannot fight. That is why, when one raises the right hand, it is the father’s hand, and when one raises the left hand it is the mother’s hand, and when one raises the right foot it is the father’s foot…. When I ask our Sun Jin, “Whose foot is this?” she says the right foot is Father’s foot and the left foot is Mother’s foot. That is truly right. Why is that? Already, centering on love, it is arranged that way.
The heart of the True Parents communes with all nations
What is happening to you now that you have met the True Parents is that, though you were indeed born, you are all people without seed. So through the Teacher’s loving you, you enter again, in a conditional position, into a place like that of the seed of a child within the Teacher. Through love….
You want to be one with the Teacher, and everything about the Teacher is simply good, and you want to live together with the Teacher, and you all want to be like this. You all want to be tied by some cord and dragged about by the Teacher, all of you. Why is that? Because you have not had such a bond of Heaven’s love, by liking and yearning centering on that bond of love, a kernel comes into your husk, into that place without seed.
So when you love the Teacher, next you come to love Mother, in that order. Therefore it passes through. And next you come to love our children. Thereby you can occupy the realm of resurrection based on conditions of indemnity. Do you understand what that means? That is the business being carried on.
Thereby the Teacher teaches you spiritually, and it is all like that. The Parents appear and teach and show everything related to the children. So let those who see the Teacher in prayer or in dreams raise their hands. He teaches one hundred percent.
If you long for the Teacher, he appears in a half-waking, half-dreaming state. If it reaches the point that tears come from wanting to see him and one forgets even eating and forgets even sleeping, one has already communed. That is the privilege of the Teacher’s age, the privilege. Thereby, wherever you go, he teaches you all what to do. One truly attends him and lives. Even with eyes closed at night, one finds one’s own house. When one is having such experiences, whose words does one listen to, whose?
For you to commune that much is still far off. You must offer devotion. You must go beyond even the longing for sleep when you truly wish to sleep, and the longing for food when you are hungry. Long for the Teacher like that, and long for the Parents like that. That is the only privilege established between the Teacher and you. That is a treasure that only the Unification Church has. Do you understand what I mean? Let everyone become so.
When one comes to such a position, if you take a boat out to sea and catch fish, he teaches you how to catch fish, and if you lose your way in the mountains, he teaches you the way, and teaches you all directions. So would that be good or bad? “Good.” How good would it be? “Excellent.” You must know that.
Centering on such an inner center, everything centers on the Parents…. The heart of the Parents communes with all nations. Would it not be so? Since it is God and the center of the world, it is all the same. With the love that loves God, with the love that loves the Parents, it passes everywhere in the world. And so it becomes one world. That world becomes one with love that is for others.
Only when the hearts of the eighty-four are matched does the house of the Providence come about
Now, then, for how many people must you be?
Twelve people, of course, and seventy-two people, eighty-four people — you must be able to be for them. One cannot but match the hearts of the eighty-four people.
And meanwhile one goes the course of Restoration, from the servant of servants to the servant, the adopted son, then the child, then the position of the parent. (He spoke while writing on the board) One does not do that in the heavenly kingdom. One becomes a servant of the enemy’s servant. That is the enemy. That is why you are not alone. It is a battle with Satan. It will not do without receiving approval from Satan. One must receive from Satan the approval saying, “This one has nothing to do with me.”
And thereafter one must resolve upon one’s life for the Lord. You must know that before resolving upon one’s life, one cannot, from the position of an adopted son, enter the position of inheriting the direct lineage. When Jesus died upon the cross, all twelve of Jesus’ disciples ran away, did they not? One must not run away. Jesus said to his disciples, “I came not to be served but to serve,” did he not? He taught the way of serving. That is the Christian spirit.
What is that? By being for twelve people, one makes the twelve people one. By making the twelve people one, one becomes completely one. When it becomes so, I become the center. If I become the center, this one cannot fall away. If the center is settled, this one cannot fall away. It cannot be divided. One becomes one with twelve people and then with seventy-two people, seventy-two people. After becoming one with seventy-two people, one becomes one centering on the people, and becomes one centering on the world. Do you understand what I mean? This formula is the same everywhere. That is why the doctrine of the Unification Church is that the ideal of creation is the completion of the Four Position Foundation. Do you understand what I mean? You must know this clearly.
Now, thereby the house of the Providence that God desired comes about. That house becomes our nation, and becomes our world, and becomes our heaven and earth. If one comes to our house, there are people of all five colors, people of all five colors. Americans, Germans, French, Italians, and then English, Japanese, enemies among themselves…. Do you understand what I mean? One cannot feel the old enmity even if one tried.
One cannot feel such emotions as German, American, English, Japanese even if one tried. However much they are enemies, if one has love that is for others, all are joined. No one can oppose their becoming one there. It is the appeal of conscience, conscience. Do you understand?
What is our house? “The house of the Providence.” Now, our house is America, America. Your house is America. Hereafter America will follow us. Our Unification Church members throughout the world are always a house representing that nation. Do you understand? As the days pass, it is bound to develop. Everything is connected. It is the same as when spring comes and the snow piled up in winter all becomes one and melts.
When our family members go to a Japanese house, they treat the parents of the Japanese house like True Parents. They greet the Japanese mother and father. Even when going to a restaurant, they eat together with the mother. There is no difficulty whatsoever.
Also, even if a white person goes to Africa, likewise he attends the African black mother and father in place of the True Mother and Father. It is the same with black people. Do you understand what I mean?
Only by receiving the blessing of three generations is there no blocking wall, even in the spirit world
Who are your parents?
All things are your parents. All things are your parents. Isn't that earth that supplies the elements, the earth, your parent? That is your parent. The earth is the first parent, the first parent. Next, your mother and father are the second parents. They are the parents who bore you. Then what is the third parent? God, who put in the spirit, is the third parent. Since one has one’s own direct parents, there must be collateral parents. All the parents of the world are collateral. Do you understand?
That is why, if one can transform the love that loves brothers and loves parents into a formula for all nations and live so well with all, if one can live loving, it becomes the kingdom of heaven on earth; and a person who has lived that way can, wherever he goes in the heavenly kingdom, act freely without being blocked, and the good world, heaven and earth, all become his own.
Our American young men and women here dislike grandmothers and grandfathers, do you not? “No.” Grandfathers and grandmothers, and all the more grandfathers? “No.” Everyone, who is the oldest grandfather in the world? “God.” If one dislikes grandmothers and grandfathers, would one not dislike God most of all? That is why grandmothers and grandfathers are the house where one meets God. If one says to a grandfather, “Grandfather, bless me,” and that grandfather blesses, God gives the blessing. It is truly so. When Esau and Jacob’s father was old and about to die, did they receive the blessing then, or when he was hale? “When he was about to die.” They received the blessing when he was about to die. It becomes as he blessed, just as he blessed. What is that? It is God’s position.
That is why you too must receive the blessing of three generations. Grandfather, father, myself — one must receive the blessing of three generations like this. That is, grandmother and grandfather, then mother and father, then who? One must receive the blessing of one’s own wife or one’s own husband. One blesses, saying, “God, since You blessed me as a husband, permit all the privileges of the woman to be granted to the husband,” and also, “Let the privileges of the man be granted to the woman.” And when about to die, one must die saying, “You are my eternal husband. You shall be my eternal wife. Amen!”
With the name of one’s own ancestors, one blesses, saying, “From the position of having inherited the tradition of our grandfather and grandmother and father and mother, you shall inherit three generations as an eternal husband and wife who can live with them forever.” It is three generations, three generations. Grandfather and parents and oneself, three generations. That is why it is the God of Abraham, then the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob, the God of three generations, three generations. Do you understand? Therefore, hereafter those who cannot attend to their grandmother and grandfather become cripples in the next world, cripples.
What I mean is that if Unification Church members have no grandfather and grandmother, they must go to a nursing home and bring a grandfather and grandmother and live with them.
Now, think of such a world. Everyone, is it better for grandmother and grandfather, mother and father, to be in a nursing home, or to be together with their sons and daughters? Would God wish to be together with humankind, or wish to be far apart? “Together.” It is the same. So you too must think that way. You must think, “Ah, I must attend to all of them, centering on people of all five colors.”
One must love people and then love animals
Only when there is no such boundary line can I, even going to the spirit world, live for thousands of years, tens of thousands of years, hundreds of millions of years, centering on all love. The world that longs for that passes everywhere without boundary. To the degree that this is blocked, there is a boundary line, and one is limited. In this world too, such a person is always welcomed. Only then will the world become the house of Providence, will it not?
Now, the more one carries on that business, what happens?
The spirit world opens. Do you understand what I mean? Bring a black grandmother and grandfather from the nursing home and attend them like God and see what happens. They look like God. The light in the eyes is different. That is so. So it is hard. At first it is hard. It is hard. But one must make a habit of it, even by force. Without being able to love people, one cannot love birds and animals.
You must know that loving people first and then loving all things with the feeling with which one loved people is the realm of dominion of God’s ideal Garden of Eden. Do you understand what I mean?
In our house too, Un Jin bought a dog, but I tell them not to buy a dog. I tell them to buy a dog after loving people. That is the Teacher’s ism. Do you understand? “Yes.” There are many dogs in America, are there not? Since they dislike people and like dogs, this nation perishes, perishes. Such a household perishes, perishes. Bring a black woman and love her more than that. Do you understand? Without loving people, one cannot love animals like dogs and horses, or all things. Do you understand what I mean?
Since you would all have horses and have dogs and so on, you must have the condition of having loved your wife and loved your husband, of having loved people. If one loves because of that privilege, it passes through. Only when one can say, “Because I love my mother and father and am filial to them, I can love a dog too,” can that become a privilege. Do you understand what I mean? That is the view of the universe with which God looks, centering on love.
Is that splendid or not? There one can go and live at any time. If one goes there, will you give the leftovers from your meal, or give the best? “The best.” That is only on the very first day; what will you do if I say I will grow senile there for a whole lifetime and soil myself and die? I have the privilege of going and living in your houses, and the person who says he dislikes that — his kingdom of heaven and his house of the Providence are all false. It is a lie.
Now, do you welcome that? Let those who welcome it raise their hands. Raise your hands, those who welcome it. Then what will you do if I distribute to you all the people I like, my friends, all the old people? “Good.” I think, “Teacher Moon will become the king of the nursing homes.” Reverend Moon is the king of the nursing homes, the king of old people — it becomes like that.
This is three generations, three generations. Three generations must live in one house. Without three generations it will not do.
If the grandmothers are not all united, and do not love, and say they cannot live and do not give the blessing, it will not do. It will not do to say they cannot do it. Only by receiving the blessing does one become a leader of the world. That is why the Teacher too lives with all manner of people in his house now. He lives with black people, lives with Japanese people, lives with English people, lives with American people — ah, there are many headaches. There are many troublesome matters. It is only because I see and pretend not to see; otherwise, chop, chop…. Since I am so, can you not be so?
The person who bears many burdens for the whole receives blessing
Look. “The Teacher is this and that, and the Unification Church is falling away and this and that…” — there are all manner of things. So how much of a headache that is. Even so, I do not waver and do not think of quitting being Teacher Moon; so do you dislike being a Moonie?
If you are shaken out, there is nothing in you. But if Reverend Moon were shaken out, would there be nothing? The whole world hangs on it. Though you cannot sympathize with the Teacher, to do this and that — how can that be? Even the organizations, when they have no money, all come to the Teacher and ask for money…. While the Teacher is like this, they think money keeps coming down in heaps from the heavenly kingdom through some elevator.
Their companies are challenged, but I am the person in charge of the whole Unification Church; when I am challenged, to whom do I go? Whom do I ask for help? Where must I go? Where must I go? Those fellows who oppose it — it would serve them right to discard them all; they did it because they liked it, so what of it! It would serve them right. That is not because of me. I am overcoming headaches for the sake of the world. I am overcoming difficulties. That is why the people of the world respect me in their hearts. Although they were enemies, I loved them, and although they never dreamed of it, I strove for them, and because of all this they respect me.
If there are communists in America, what has that to do with me? If it will perish, let it perish, and if not, not; what has it to do with me? Whether young people fall into vice or not, what has it to do with me? If it will perish, let it perish, and if not, not. America perishes, do I perish? Yet why is it so, why? You know what I mean, do you not? “Yes.”
So do you seek to resemble the Teacher? “Yes.” Do you seek to bear a weighty responsibility like the Teacher, or to bear a small responsibility? “A weighty responsibility.” I have done much fundraising too. I have done much witnessing too. I have received much persecution too. I have suffered because of the will more than anyone.
Can the Teacher complain about that?
If I did not do it and worked for you, if I suffered less than you and made you do it, that would be one thing…. The person who bears many burdens for the whole, for that house, receives blessing. He is blessed. It is certain. Mother and father too are bound to love the son or daughter who bears many burdens. Is that not so?
Only by gladly receiving opposition does world restoration become easier
Everyone, at times, the Teacher suffers like this, and yet they do not recognize it and, on the contrary, curse him. But look over three generations, three generations. If I do not repay, God repays. Look over three generations. Do you understand what I mean? “Yes.”
The established churches oppose me, and America opposes me, and the communists oppose me, but they all have it taken away. While opposing, they have it taken away. Their striking is the carrying away of blessing. So gladly receive it. Keep receiving it! That is why, if America opposes Reverend Moon, America will hereafter submit to Reverend Moon; is there any other way? That is truth, truth. Because I knew that law, I have not perished until now but have succeeded; if that were a lie I would long since have perished.
In England a new Rolls-Royce waits for me. “Come quickly and ride,” it says. And when I go to Germany, a Benz, a fine Benz, comes and waits for me to ride. Wherever, wherever I go, it is waiting. Why is that, why? Because it is deserved….
Everyone, is there anyone who says, “I dislike our Teacher living in East Garden,” because the Teacher lives in East Garden? You say, “Ah, he ought to live somewhere better than the White House.” Why is that? Though I live in East Garden, I am a person with no interest in that house. I am a person who has passed all that. I have no interest in clothes either. These days I try to go about without a necktie, wearing a jumper, but Mother keeps saying, “Ah! Necktie, necktie.”
So because of Mother I unavoidably wear one. If it were said that all the neckties of America, all the neckties of the whole world, were to be gathered and sold to save the Cambodian refugees, I would certainly have joined in that. Does Reverend Moon’s character drop because I do not wear a necktie? “No.” Our Unification Church members need not do so.
Now, if the Unification Church members become about half the citizens of America, I will have them fast three days every month. And what will I do with that? Selecting about fifty of the most difficult nations, deciding first and second, I will distribute it all to them in turn over twelve months. Then think what influence these fifty nations would receive each time it is said, “America is fasting.” And if those who receive this must, in order not to be stricken in conscience, work together and fast three days as well, they would follow along; is there any other way? Think about it. World restoration is not difficult.
Now, if I mobilize about a hundred thousand fundraising members in America, even at three thousand dollars each, it is three hundred sixty million dollars a month, three hundred sixty million dollars. Then what if that were donated every month? Would the foreign ministers all come and stand in line at East Garden, or not? Think about it. What would happen? One would say, “Do not wait there in the cold; we have made a room for you at a good hotel, so wait there listening to good words and receiving training.” If done that way, witnessing to those people is not difficult. Witnessing is not difficult. One can witness to all the foreign ministers.
So whether America curses or not, to save the world, even in doing fundraising now, preparing for such a goal is good. Since America cannot do it, at least we must. So are you against fundraising or in support? “In support.” If people are needed, one must witness. Support or against? “Support.”
Home church is precisely the house of the Providence
Hereafter, the young men and women, the American youth, have nowhere to go. They have nowhere to go. Having done everything, even to streaking, is there anywhere left to go? Now, on the day they only taste the Unification Church, they are bound to come flocking in. If they listen to this, they are bound to be bowled over.
Now, are you who have come in here an innocent lot, a beggarly lot, a swindling lot? “Problem children.” That is right. You are problem children. All the human refuse came flocking. Swindlers, just wandering east and west. All swindlers. But now, having come and believed in the Unification Church, what has happened? Are you still problem children? “No.” Then what are you? What kind of children? “Moon children.” What are Moon children? Peace children, heavenly children.
Now, how many innocent young people are there in America?
How many are there! Let them just once hear the words of the Principle. One can turn them around one hundred percent. Do you know that if American young people just listen, they turn around? “Yes.” That is why we must buy the television network NBC, and must buy CBS. For that we must earn money.
Now, if the Teacher took a microphone for about a fortnight and broadcast nationwide every day, would Americans listen or not? If Reverend Moon broadcast for fifteen days, would they listen or not? “They would listen.” There would not be one person who did not listen. They listen to curse, listen out of hatred, listen out of liking, listen to oppose — for this reason and that reason they all listen. Their eyes turn. They certainly turn. Do you think you have such ability? “Yes.” Do you think you have ability? I am a person who does a one-man show well and does everything well. I speak eloquently, and know how to weave a long novel. That is why, when I weep they too must weep, and when I laugh they too must laugh, and when I dance they too must dance — I can do that. If I say, “Let us save America!” they too must say, “Let us save America!”; is there any other way? (Applause)
We must buy CBS. We must buy the New York Times too. We must buy the Washington Post too. When you go today, tell the president of the New York Times and all of them to know this and be alert. If I say I will buy, I certainly will buy. You must know that the budget is already being drawn up. Does that feel good or bad? “Good.” I think that even while eating curses, I must fight once like a man. Now, so the New York Times too must become our Times. Our Times. The Washington Post too must become our Post.
When the Teacher came to New York three years ago, he said, “I will buy that building here in New York,” and bought it. At that time, American young people thought the Teacher was mad. But think what will happen ten years from now. Does it seem Reverend Moon will sit still for ten years? “No.” Overall, it is one world. That is why we do home church, home church. What is home church? Home church is the house of the Providence, the house of the Providence. I will finish all this within ten years, within ten years.
Have CARP members come here? “Yes.” You must become a locomotive, a locomotive. Chug chug, chug chug…. (Applause) I will supply the money. Yesterday I went to Florida to buy a motel. CARP members, raise your hands. Raise your hands once more. We must run. Why does Reverend Moon train you so strongly? Because we must defeat the communists. It is because of the communists. If there were no communists, it would not be so. Do you understand? “Yes.”
American football — one must kick splendidly, the way one sets up the ball and simply kicks it through. It is all right if one has no time to cut one’s hair and it grows this long. If it was all for the sake of the will, who would say anything? The women all wear torn jeans and the like. It is all right if only this much is left. And what is this for? It is to make this world our house, to make it a village like our village.
Only religion can save the world
You, too, wish to go to Korea, do you not?
Let those who wish to go to Korea raise their hands. Put them down. Because you wish to go to Korea, I make the Korean people in charge close to you. So when you go to Korea, you will all go and stay at their houses and must be introduced by the people of those houses, must you not? (Applause) Yet why do you dislike the Korean individuals in charge? Why do you dislike them? “No.” What is “no”? “No.”
Bringing German people and making them individuals in charge here is to send you to Germany, to lay a foundation for all of us; they came to connect that — think of it that way. If a Japanese person becomes a person in charge, one may go to that person in charge’s house and be waited on and live, so one should think it good; why think badly of it?
Everyone, because Japanese people came here, you learned to sit on the floor; otherwise, would you have learned to sit? Among American churches, where is a church that sits on a cement floor? Since we have unified from the ground up, the middle is no problem. If one does the difficult things, the easy things are no problem.
Everyone, if you go somewhere like Korea and stretch out your legs, they say, “That one, that one, that one…” What is that? It is that they would kick out all the grandfathers and grandmothers. Since I have come, all the grandfathers and grandmothers…. Apart from religion, can this be taught, apart from religion? With what culture can you be educated? Is there anywhere apart from religion that can teach this? Think about it. Apart from religion, how could you be made like this? Could you be made like this by music? Could you be made like this by dancing? There is nothing but religion, religion.
Through religion, Reverend Moon can make you like this. You who drank and smoked and had free sex and did all manner of things — who can make such fellows so decent? With what? Through education? What would make you so? Could it be done except by the power of religion? These days, when scientists gather, they say, “From now on only a powerful religion can save the world.” I think they learned even that from Reverend Moon, from our Unification Church.
Who will make American young people like this today? Even giving hundreds of millions and pouring in the whole Rockefeller Foundation, could they be made so? But the Reverend Moon, who eats curses, made them. The religion of the Reverend Moon who eats curses made them.
Only by training in many fields can one guide people of many fields
Look. Think what would have become of American young people if the citizens of America had supported me. Think what would have happened. Ah, think what would have become of this America if it had been arranged so that university presidents rode in cars and flew in airplanes to bring Reverend Moon. So now you must do it. For that, whether a woman in a brothel or a person at some labor site or any scholar or anyone at all…. Only if you train in many fields can you guide people in many fields.
Things like the band here I made, and things like the choir I made, I did it all. I made the New Hope Singers too, and I made Sunburst too, and I made the fishing company here too, and I manage even the New York City Symphony Orchestra. Why is that? Will it do not to know that? You, too, must be so in many fields….
Everyone, do you wish to become finer than now, or worse than presently? “We wish to become finer.” Then you must receive training. That is an iron rule. You must all learn Jeongdo-sul and learn karate. Our women too — women too, weak as they are, must learn to flip men over. Married women too are welcome. Why? Because hereafter we must do away with the communists. It is because we must do away with the communists. Everyone, do you think the Teacher just sits still after announcing that? He is preparing now. You must know that he is preparing that. Do you understand what I mean? “Yes.”
America is not the problem, America. We must digest the communists. That is all making our house. But that does not mean we strike them down with power, with force. When they come out with force, defensively there is no help for it. Do you understand what that means? That is Reverend Moon’s thought.
Knowing this, each of you must fulfill your responsibility to make such a house of the Providence. So in the seven-year course you must certainly witness to eighty-four people. You must become tribal messiahs. You must indemnify what Jesus could not become. Then next, the national messiah or the worldwide messiah, the cosmic messiah, all….
Whether the communist world or the democratic world, the more they fight, the more they all collapse. They all fall away. But the Unification Church will keep developing. Otherwise, the world perishes.
One must make the world where the Four Position Foundation prevails one’s own house
Now, let the young women who came from Korea raise their hands. You must all go out to CARP, CARP. Simply do it with all your might. I intend to drive you hard. In exchange, the American women must be alert. The American women must not lose, must they? “Yes.” Tall, big in the eyes, big in the hands, big in the feet — those big fellows ought to go first. Do you understand? “Yes.” We must make one world. You must become ones who will make anywhere in the world your house, a world where the Four Position Foundation prevails.
Now, if I send you specially to England or to Germany, the cars we have bought must not be left sitting. Hereafter I intend to let you specially tour and see the world. Choosing those who have toiled. At that time I will give you the privilege of riding in the Teacher’s car. In exchange, if a woman goes, a man of that country drives. If a man goes, a woman of that country drives. Why do you laugh? That is how it should be. The words are right, are they not? That does not mean that the two should travel about and carry on some other business. It means that all should show the dignity of the man and boast of the German man, and boast of the American woman, and compete with one another in character with their nations at stake. Do you understand what I mean? “Yes.” For the house of the Providence we….
Today is December 9, and this year too has all gone. Now, shall we rest, or shall we run again? “Let us run.” Some brothers say they will rest and are now away resting; shall you rest a little too? I will permit it today; I will specially permit it today. “No.” What is “no”? Rest a little. “No.” It is Christmas, and you will all want to go home, will you not? Going home and eating some turkey, and eating good steak, and some ham cake? What cake? “Fruit cake.” You want to eat that too. “No.” Then what do you wish to do? Do you wish to go to the snowy northern regions of Canada and do fundraising shivering? “Yes.” Then I must go to a warm region and rest a little. “No.” Why “no”? The Teacher may rest a little. Having worked a whole lifetime, he ought to rest a little now. (Applause)
Now look. Frankly, I have not a penny in my pocket. Who will buy the airplane ticket, who will pay the hotel bill? So unavoidably, while living in America, I contact Germany and contact France and contact Japan and say, “Send money,” and put it in this pocket and go about — so I have become like an American! If one leaves things alone here, they take everything away.
In any case, we know our circumstances well, and I know your circumstances well, and you will know the Teacher’s circumstances well. Somehow we know it all well. I did more than that. In the Teacher’s thinking, when you do such work, God compares, saying, “Your teacher went like this at such a time….” That is so. Even crossing one pass, “Hey!”; crossing two, “Hey!”; crossing three, “Hey!” He says, “Hey, when it comes to the grandchild of that young woman, I will give the Blessing together with some generation of Reverend Moon’s descendants.” He thinks such thoughts. Do you understand what I mean? “Yes.” That can be. That can be. That is why there is no need to complain.
And, however hard it is for you, you must know that the Teacher has passed through more than that. Be comforted by that one thing, whatever anyone says. Whether the person in charge does not recognize you, or the village persecutes you, or they drive you out, or whatever — think that the Teacher too underwent and passed through all such things. Have you ever thought that you would die right now because of the will? You have not, have you? The Teacher had many such times. So know that and overcome and cross over.
Leave a tradition of thinking of God and loving humankind
Keep building it high! Keep building the terrace and climb! Think that the castle I build is not for ten years but that I will build it for a whole lifetime, from the beginning until I grow old and die. I am building it even now. How high will I build it? So, has Reverend Moon built it high now? “Yes.” It is the same. All this is what you must do and pass on.
When one goes before Heaven, the first thing asked is, “What did you think about? Mr. Pak, what did you think about?” One is asked, “What did you think about for a whole lifetime?” One is asked, “Did you think about your wife? Did you think about your children?” One must think of the high things, the greater things. That is why one must think of the highest God. One must think of God for a whole lifetime. And the next one is asked, “What action did you take?”
What is it that one acted upon? What did you do?
One must love humankind. One must say, “I loved people.” What is the third? What did you leave behind? What did you leave behind, in the world of past, present and future, for humankind, for this earth of the ages of history, for Heaven? Centering on a family of the heavenly kingdom, one must make the heavenly kingdom, and make what is of benefit to the nation, and leave behind what is of benefit to the world.
The most important thing is leaving behind a tradition. One must leave behind a tradition of love. And the next one is told to educate, educate. That is what is needed. What is the Teacher doing now? He is doing that. He is establishing a tradition of love. And next, he is giving education about love. That is why you are told to study so that even when you go to the spirit world, when asked, “What did you learn from Reverend Moon?” you can say, “I learned such things. I inherited such things.” Study the Principle and study the words. That is why everything is education. Do you understand what I mean? “Yes.” There is much to do. We are busy. We are busy. And so a house of love…. That is what is called a house of love.
Now, this battle from now on…. Now, shall we drive on more strongly, or shall we stop? “Drive on more strongly.” So will you not complain? “Yes.” Until yesterday you complained, did you not? “No.” From now on will you not complain? “Yes.” Tomorrow? “We will not.” Next year? “We will not.” And for a whole lifetime? “We will not!” Then is it all right if Reverend Moon dies? Then may God’s protection be with you! (Applause)
