The Boundary Line

Former Headquarters Church, Korea

I think that on the road of faith, there is always a ridge one must cross over. The road of faith is the road of faith, but even in the daily living by which all people live day by day, there is likewise a ridge. And looking over the course of one lifetime, it is so as well. To divide a lifetime and speak of it: there is a time of youth such as yours, and a time of adulthood, and a time of old age. Yet each—youth as youth, adulthood as adulthood, old age as old age—has its period, and so there is a boundary line. In this way, there is without fail, in our lifetime, a boundary line that must be crossed.

To Cross the Boundary Line Together with God

Centering on this boundary line, belonging to one of the two sides—this side or that side—and living at present, is our human life and can be considered the worldwide phenomenon of today.

We must know that, at the same time as we human beings have a boundary line as human beings, there is a boundary line that God sees. Because the human ancestors fell, we know that on the road ahead of us there remain many ridges to be crossed. To advance from the individual to the family, the tribe, or the nation, the world, and the Cosmos (천주), one must cross over many ridges. Those ridges are not crossed by chance; they are what must inevitably be crossed. We must know that such a boundary line is waiting.

Each time one crosses this boundary line, one must not only break through it oneself and cross over but also prepare the road of crossing over and become a person who prays to open that road of crossing over. Yet becoming such a person is not easy.

In the true sense, to cross that boundary line, one must stand in a position of having offered the devotion by which one can receive God’s cooperation. Without that, one cannot cross this boundary line together with God. Because we were born within Satan’s realm of ownership, if we do not cross this boundary line together with God, we are placed in a position of having to cross it together with Satan.

If we cross that boundary line here together with Satan, then upon the road of our human life toward the original homeland, upon the road toward the destination of our life course, Satan does not cooperate or lead us onto a road that can be united with that road. On the contrary, he derails us again and again and leads us onto the road opposite to that road. We must know that this was so historically, is so in this age, and can be so in the future as well.

In our crossing of such a boundary line, we cannot go together with any co-worker. Of course, centering on ourselves, we have environmental ties such as a family or a nation from which we can receive cooperation. Yet unless I furnish a subjective tie and, of myself, raise the motive, I cannot form a relationship with that environment.

Crossing Individually Is Precious Too, but One Must Be Able to Cross Together with the Nation

The nation too has a ridge it must cross, and society too has a ridge that society must cross. And I, too, have a ridge I must go over. Because the directions that I, society, and the nation go are not all united, the case, the position, and the location all become different.

Of course, my crossing such a boundary line myself is precious, but I must also be able to form a tie with society and the nation and make them cross the boundary line—and who must make the motive for such a position? The subject that can move this must stand in a position that can surpass society or the nation. Without that, one cannot cross the boundary line of society or the nation.

Then what does a wise person, or a person who follows the Way of God, wish for?

How does one connect the boundary line one must cross oneself, the boundary line society must cross, and, further, the boundary line that the world or heavenly fortune must cross? How does one cross all of this at once? The more a person thinks about such a problem, the wiser he is. And the more one is such a person, the more one can become a world-historical great figure. You must know this.

Today you have entered the Unification Church and are living a life of faith. Seen as centering on a world-historical mission, the boundary line the Unification Church aims toward and must cross does not exist in history. And we know through the Principle that that boundary line is high and long.

The boundary line we cross is the final boundary line, or the boundary line of historical hope, the boundary line at which God and Satan can be decided here. It is also the beginning of everything by which heaven and earth can form a relationship with human beings, and the line at which everything can be resolved.

You must know that this boundary line, which can accomplish all such things, is drawing near before us.

The Road That Crosses the Boundary Line Is One

If we know for certain that the boundary line of this Cosmos, or this heavenly fortune, must cross remains before us today, and we must go now to cross that ridge and cross that boundary line. But you cannot cross that ridge alone. However much effort you make, you cannot go.

That is how the historical process has been. Countless people of Will struggled to cross this road and fell away. Yet we must, without fail, cross it. What must you know to cross this road? You must know clearly what kind of ridge that ridge of the boundary line is and in which direction one must go to cross it. For even if you cross the boundary line, if you cross it wrongly, you must without fail come back the road you went.

In crossing the boundary line, you must know clearly where to go and where you must cross. Those roads are not many. That road is only one. It is not that one may cross anywhere, as one crossed the 38th parallel right after liberation. The road by which one can cross is without fail only one road. God too must go by that road, the countless sages of history too must go by that road, and all those who must walk the course of Restoration too must pass by way of that road.

That road is the only final boundary line. That final boundary line appears in these Last Days. And it is we who are in the position of having, without fail, to cross that boundary line. Then how must we train ourselves in daily life to cross it? This will be the problem. Therefore, the problem is how to bring your whole attitude of living, all your notions, and the purpose you aim for to a single conclusion and cross this boundary line.

Unless you concentrate your whole life and set forth a point of resolution for this, you yourself cannot cross that boundary line.

All the Standards of Goodness Until Now Must Be Connected into One Place

Because this boundary line appears as a boundary line that gathers together everything from the individual to the family, tribe, people, nation, and world, and even the content of the history of the Cosmos, I alone cannot cross it. Because it is a boundary line that must be crossed together with history, there will without fail be, in the historical process, a standard of goodness that came forth fighting to cross this boundary line. Therefore, we too must, without fail, cross it while growing to resemble that good standard. We cannot cross it just as we are.

Because that standard is a standard the whole of this age must cross, we must cross that standard by making a bridge of the standard that the good people of this present age are following. It is so even when we consider it centering on the historical age and this present age. And we must consider that to cross this ridge, God’s precious hand of providence has been stretched out here, and we must connect the standard of goodness God has built up until now upon this foundation. Without that, we cannot cross this ridge.

Of the past, present, and future—the past and present we have passed through until now, but the rise and fall of the future depend without fail on whether we cross this boundary line. You must know that this problem is difficult. You must know that how to solve this problem is the lifelong wish and purpose that our humanity, being born upon this earth, comes to hold.

In the past, though countless people toiled to cross this ridge, they could not cross it. Yet they laid a foundation of goodness up to a certain limit. And though this age too strives to cross it, it is not crossing it. Yet it has laid a foundation of goodness up to within a certain environmental sphere. We must connect these. In connecting them, one must not center on oneself alone. Here God must intervene. To make us cross such a ridge, God has until now presented the direction, demanded results in the historical process, and left His traces.

You must know that, unless one treads upon and breaks through all the standards of goodness of the past and present from a position united with such a God, one cannot cross that boundary line.

Then what kind of time are the Last Days?

The time that reaches the limit of this boundary line is the Last Days. Yet that does not mean it is a time when one can lay a bridge over it and cross. It is not that a road for going directly from this ridge to that ridge is directly connected. The road by which one can step over toward that ridge is in another place. That is, the two boundary lines are not now united; those boundary lines are each in a different place. The road the nation goes is so; the road the countless religions go is likewise so, and the road heavenly fortune goes is likewise so.

Therefore, one must do the work of gathering these together and connecting them into one. To do this work, one leader comes. The one who must fulfill this mission is the Lord at the Second Advent, who is to come.

One must connect all these standards and cross the limit of this boundary line all at once. Connecting this limit line does not just happen. It cannot be done without paying the price of much indemnity. Connecting the historical standard of goodness, the standard of goodness of the age, and the standard of heavenly fortune does not just happen. It is not that, simply because one has come to know this, saying, “Now I have become a son or daughter of God,” one becomes a son or daughter of God.

One Must Win in the Inevitable Course of Indemnity

Here there must without fail be indemnity. In the course of that indemnity one must be able to tread upon and step over the historical standard of goodness. And one must present a method by which the nation, if it be the nation, the age, if it be the age, the world, if it be the world, heaven, if it be heaven, and heavenly fortune, if it be heavenly fortune, can indemnify all the content each has failed to accomplish until now. We must know that without that, we cannot cross this boundary line.

You often use the phrase “the course of Restoration.” You speak of individual restoration, family restoration, tribal restoration, national restoration, and the restoration of the nation, but that Restoration does not unfold by chance. It unfolds by necessity. It is not a chance history but an inevitable history. Therefore, one must pass through a certain formula-course. Any person at all—this one or that one, or anyone from any of the four directions—must without fail pass through this course by the formula. One must inevitably go for it. And there one must furnish content by which the before-and-after relationship can be united. From this point, you must know that there remains a boundary line you must inevitably cross.

When you come to cross such a ridge, if you cross it with your mind placed elsewhere, you cannot go. All your nerves and notions must be concentrated, and all your elements of life must be wholly concentrated. Thus, in the very moment, the very instant of crossing the boundary line, the victor is decided. One who has not won cannot even go to the Kingdom of Heaven. And those who have not furnished the qualification by which they can win, those who have not completed that mission, cannot inherit the historical ideology.

Everyone, when parents pass on to their children all that they have furnished until now, whom among the children do they seek? They seek, among the descendants of that family, the child who can completely lead the family. It cannot be done with a child who is dragged along by the family itself. It must be a child who can lead the family—in other words, a child who has secured victory in the family. In one nation too, such a person is demanded as its representative. Only one who becomes a qualified person who can win, centering on the nation if it be a nation, can lead that nation.

From this point, the Teacher comes to think of the position the believers of the Unification Church must go, who today set before themselves the enormous task called Cosmos-ism (천주주의).

How does one acquire the cosmic authority by which one can lead the Cosmos?

Before acquiring the realm of Cosmos-ism, one must first cross the boundary line. And to cross this boundary line, one must pass through the course of indemnity.

Then, the more rugged that boundary line is, the more one must, in preparation for it, supplement the independent capacity by which I can overcome that trial, and secure that independence — how?

To cross such a ridge and cross the boundary line, many representative figures of the world have come and gone. Such people are the sages and wise ones who contributed to the history of humanity and the cultural history of humanity.

Therefore, we must become ones who can inherit the highest goal of goodness that they walked and crossed over. The question is whether one has become such a self. Considering this present society and the whole world, the question is whether this nation and this world are in such a position. Unless one becomes a victor who can take responsibility for the world-historical standard by which one can cross such a boundary line, one cannot cross that boundary line.

We must know that we are the ones who live setting this enormous task before us, and that the road we go is the road along which God carries out the providence of Restoration.

We, who bear not only the mission of a single family but also this enormous mission of the history of the Cosmos, must not, in crossing this boundary line, go in the manner of, “If I cannot go today, I will go tomorrow.” Here there is no pardon even for a minute or a second.

One who goes ahead and waits is wise, but one who cannot go ahead and wait, and is even one minute or one second late, must go back again. In this way, an inevitable road of destiny, without pardon, lies before us.

You must know that you are walking that road, that you are seeing it, and that you are hearing it.

The Unification Church, Which Presents the Direction of Going Straight to the Boundary Line

Then when is the time to cross that boundary line?

We do not know when that time is. It is difficult to know. Since the individuality of each of you differs, when the boundary line one must go centering on one’s own view of life will intersect with you is unknown. Because the Unification Church has not yet collided with that boundary line, you may say it has nothing to do with you, but that is far from so. The whole Unification Church does not collide with it all at once. You yourself must set out from your sphere and advance to the boundary line; you must go. Therefore, you must know that each individual is going.

Why is this so?

Because the day one was born differs, your individuality differs, the purpose you aim for differs, and the direction held in the mind differs. Because the purpose you aim for differs, there is a difference in that view of purpose, and you must know that all are approaching this boundary line in ten thousand different forms.

Seen centering on the Unification Church, even this road that can be crossed all at once, on a day when one makes even a slight mistake, is prolonged by ten or twenty years. That is why I tell you to become a wise person.

What kind of person is a wise person?

He is a person who can digest history and can assess the age. Then how is this age? This age cannot digest history. That is why today the Unification Church presents the direction by which one can go straight to the boundary line.

Then what is one problem here?

The Unification Church families are gathered here, but if you look at the people gathered here, they are all people equipped front and back, left and right. So one can see plainly into the members’ living. Yet, though one can see into their living itself, one cannot see into the ties behind them. One does not know how all the background relationships connected down from the ancestors stand.

Among you people are some going in this direction and some going in that direction. People are going up and people are going down.

From this point, today, when you members confer and cooperate among yourselves, you must judge well. If I wish to confer, what must I do? I must know whether I stand on the road going up or the road going down. I must know well whether I am going wrongly or going rightly and confer.

If, not even distinguishing this well, one follows the person one confers with, that person crosses the ridge of faith, but one cannot cross it oneself. Such a result comes about.

In living a life of faith, one can see that there are people who receive a blow from a certain person, or who, because of a certain person, cannot go the road they must go. In such a case, it depends on how one makes one’s mind operate. And some people stand in a position like broad daylight, and some people stand in a position like the middle of the night.

Yet if one cannot distinguish the road one must go and simply follows another person, one receives a blow. If one is going centering on night and, not even knowing that, follows a person who is going centering on broad daylight, one is bound to be at cross-purposes with that person.

Some person goes to the right, while some person goes to the left. Yet originally they must go by the same standard. Because the directions of going differ in this way, phenomena of ten thousand forms are unfolding.

Then who is the subject that can cross the boundary line?

It must be I. One must oneself pass through from the individual problem to the family problem, the tribal problem, and the national problem. Up to that national sphere, one must pioneer oneself.

The Individual’s Boundary Line Differs, but the Nation’s Boundary Line Is the Same

Everyone! When the 600,000 people of Israel were about to leave Egypt, Pharaoh deceived Moses ten times and would not let them go. And in that period, for the people of Israel to leave Egypt was a great venture. Going from Egypt to Canaan was a great venture. When one leaves, abandoning the foundation of living one has had until now, one must smash it all up and leave. It was not Moses who decided that the people of Israel leave Egypt. Moses only gave the notice of what to do. The decision they had to make themselves.

In deciding and going, one must make a firm resolve. The people of Israel had to know that there was a boundary line of national suffering, but they did not know this. They thought it would do if only the individual problem was solved. They thought it would do if only they themselves decided and set out and thought it would end with the ridge of their individual—but there was a boundary line of national suffering. They had to overcome it.

Demanding the individual is to break through national suffering; demanding the people is to break through national suffering on the state level; and demanding the nation is to indemnify the road of worldwide suffering. You must know that.

Seen from such a position, today the individual as individual, the people as people, the nation as nation, and the world as world are all at cross-purposes. Therefore, the individual who must break through this environment at cross-purposes must become the individual, the family, the people, the nation, and the world. This is the problem.

Then how do we cross the limit-point of this boundary line that we must, without fail, cross?

Some people have crossed this boundary line. You must know this. Even though such a person has entered a road of hardship where he must suffer again and again, he does not suffer.

Looking at the Unification Church, it has carried on a pioneering history until now, but there is a difference among the people who have walked that road.

Some person, though sent to a place of somewhat good environment, suffers terribly; and some other person, whom I sent to a difficult place to make him suffer because he had not suffered, does not suffer. What is that? It is because his individual boundary line has already been crossed through the merit of his ancestors.

Because the road each individual must go is thus of ten thousand forms, for a hundred people, each of the hundred has a wholly different boundary line to cross. The direction differs, but the location also differs. Some people go south, some people west, and some people east, and north, and the before-and-after relationships are at cross-purposes. Yet all these things at cross-purposes are integrated within the sphere called the nation. And though countless peoples are centering on the nation, individuals who do not center on the background called the nation are all at cross-purposes. Yet for the sake of the world, everything must be integrated. Though heaven and earth are now at cross-purposes, for the sake of the Cosmos, they must be unified.

One must become a person who goes seeking the focal point that can bring about such a resolution.

One Who Seeks and Crosses a Greater Boundary Line Is a Wise Person

How many ridges of the boundary line must we, as human beings, without fail cross today?

Because we fell, we lost heaven and earth. We lost the world, we lost the nation, we lost the people, we lost the tribe, we lost the family, and we lost even the individual. Had we not fallen, the individual would be at once individual and family, the family at once family and tribe, and the tribe at once tribe and people.

Passing through only that passage, it would automatically be connected all the way to the world and the Cosmos. But because we fell, each of our individual selves must resolve and cross over such a ridge. Therefore, individually, one must cross the ridge of the individual. That is why history until now has come forth fighting to cross such a ridge.

Until now, what religion has said, “Let us fight for the sake of the people and have faith for the sake of the people; let us have faith for the sake of the nation; let us have faith for the sake of the world; let us have faith for the sake of heaven and earth”? Where was there such a religion? There was the religion of “Let me go to the Kingdom of Heaven,” but with such a religion, one cannot cross the line that God aims toward and comes seeking, and that the world’s humanity commonly and sympathetically must go.

With what did the Unification Church come forth?

Did it come forth with a mission to resolve things stage by stage, centering on the individual? For us, above the individual is the family, above the family is the nation, above the nation is the world, and above the world is the Cosmos. That is our boundary line.

Then do we know that boundary line for certain?

We must know for certain that the boundary line the nation must go by is this. Each individual is all different, but because there remains a boundary line, the nation must go, centering on that we must unite in solidarity. When that is done, we cross the individual boundary line, the family boundary line, the tribal boundary line, the national boundary line, and the state boundary line all at once. Restoration through indemnity comes about that way. Centering on the individual, one must cross the individual boundary line, cross the family boundary line, and cross the tribal boundary line.

Therefore God teaches us, “Believe in God. Burn up all your sins entirely and believe in God.” Then who becomes the center of the final boundary line? God does. This is what is great. At this time, when one must break through the boundary line or tear down the boundary line entirely and do battle—at this time of having passed through the course of Restoration—what it is that can transcend the historical whole is believing in God. It is becoming one with God, the worldwide and cosmic center. Therefore, love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy will, and with all thy nature.

Therefore, today this Christianity must become one centering on God. It must cross the boundary line of ten thousand forms. Then heavenly fortune will follow. Until such a time comes, one must unconditionally inherit the tradition of faith. And one must do one’s utmost.

From this point, what kind of person is a wise person?

A person who managed the individual life thriftily and crossed the individual boundary line and lived at the family boundary line is not a person our society can truly model itself on.

One must cross the family boundary line and step over the national boundary line. But to cross the national boundary line, one must sacrifice the family. One must be strong. And there must also be times when one abandons one’s own people and one’s own tribe.

Just as, to love the country, there are times when one abandons the tribe and the people, so, to love the world, there are times when one abandons the country. A person who stands in such a position is a wise person.

One Must Know the Content Concerning the Boundary Line and Give One’s Whole Heart and Strength

On the inevitable road of destiny we must, without fail, go; there is a boundary line.

To cross this boundary line all at once, what must one do?

One must know clearly what the boundary line is and must know clearly what is presented to cross the boundary line. When one crosses this boundary line, one does not cross it alone but must cross this boundary line embracing the world, embracing the universe. You must know this. In crossing it, it is not that I am held captive before the universe and cross, but that I must ride heavenly fortune and cross.

For that, one must give one’s whole heart and strength. I must love the Lord God with all my heart, and with all my will, and with all my nature. In the age when Jesus said this word, because they did not know what this word meant, they could not cross the boundary line. Therefore, centering on our Unification Church, I tell you to do it with all your heart, with all your will, with all your nature, with all your all.

Then what do we do in the Unification Church?

If you dig into it in detail, there will be devotion offered for the sake of the country. There is devotion offered for the sake of the nation or the world and for the sake of heaven and earth.

If the individual fails, the family fails; if the family fails, the people fail; if the people fail, the nation fails. History comes forth connected in this way. If the nation had won, then, because the individual, family, tribe, and people are all connected to that victorious nation, they could be included within the nation’s victory. The individual’s failure becomes the motive of the family’s failure, the family’s failure becomes the motive of the tribe’s failure, the tribe’s failure becomes the motive of the people’s failure, and the people’s failure becomes the motive of the nation’s failure; but if the nation wins, the failed individual, family, tribe, and people all become a victorious result.

From this point, in the end, because we lost the one Adam, we lost the whole world. Adam is a world-historical central being who bore world-historical responsibility. Therefore, everything came forth connected, centering on that one central being. So when that central being completes his purpose, all the beings within the sphere connected to him come to hold the realm of liberation.

For what shall we accomplish the purpose of the thought of the Second Advent in this country?

Even in the Unification Church of the Korean peninsula, there was a ridge the individual had to cross. Next, there is a ridge the family must cross. And if the Teacher takes responsibility for the ridge the family must cross, then you must cross the ridge of the individual. Yet that is not crossed for the sake of Mr. Moon of the Unification Church as an individual. It is crossed to connect the good results of the past and present into a victorious individual. Therefore, how to connect this is the problem.

The problem is how, in the future, holding an unshakably victorious standard, one carries out this responsibility before the heavenly world or the earthly world.

To Connect the Standard of Victory, an Ideology Is Needed

The problem is the individual who stands in a position where he can fulfill such a mission and be restored. What is needed here is an ideology. The ideology—that is, what “-ism” is it? — is love-ism. Love-ism. From this point, you as individuals must, centering on history and the future, make an individual absolute foundation and fight and win against Satan.

You must become one who can do that, and next, the family must be so. The tribe, if it be the tribe, must, from an absolute standard, be able, in place of the people or the nation, to have a bearing on the past historical age, the present, and the future. From this point, you of the Unification Church must be able to judge other tribes.

The multitudes who came forth saying they will believe in God and go to paradise are all sunk in self-centeredness. But we are by no means self-centered. We wish to cross the nation and cross the world and go all the way to the position centered on God.

Then what is it that God wishes to seek?

In order first to seek and establish the world, He comes seeking the individual. To seek the world, He sought the particular people called Israel. For the sake of the world, He established the nation of Israel. The people of Israel, who forgot that the nation of Israel was established for the sake of the world, wished for the world to stand in a position where it must submit before their people. On the contrary, they gave han to Jesus, who came seeking Israel for the sake of the world.

The Son of God liberates the world and goes forth to the position of glory. That was Jesus’ wish. Only when he is liberated can he liberate the world. Only when the world is liberated is the individual liberated. If the world is not liberated, all perish.

That is why there is a mission to bear the han of the history of a thousand years and, even for millions and tens of millions of years, carry the cross until liberation.

Unless you yourselves have members of a vertical-and-horizontal relationship, you cannot stand in such a rank. Even considering yourself, only by stepping over the whole boundary line does what you wish come to be accomplished.

Then when we look at our people today centering on the national limit-line, the 38th parallel is the problem. The 38th parallel is a boundary line that human beings have made. To break through this without difficulty, one must become a being who can gather North and South and overcome that difficulty. One must become a person who can overcome the difficulty between North and South. Because such a person cannot be done with me alone, one must secure such people. One must increase the number quantitatively. Therefore, the important problem is how one must make the road by which one can step over that environmental sphere.

Centering on the Republic of Korea, we must in the future fight for the sake of the world. Fighting centering on the Republic of Korea is not for the Republic of Korea alone to become one. It is to make a foundation by which one can fight for the sake of the world. Achieving the first foundation centered on the Republic of Korea is to pioneer the second foundation for the sake of the world. Therefore, this fight must not be prolonged. We must bring it to a conclusion quickly. We must hold the conviction that we can do that.

Even if this fight grows long and long and one grows weary and falls, one must rise again and set out toward the second worldwide battle line. You must know that you are the ones who must bear such a mission. You must not grow weary here.

Like a thunderbolt, within a short time, one must overcome pain and trial. Only by joining all wisdom and capacity and overcoming all trials toward a single purpose can one shorten the period of accomplishing the purpose.

The Greatest Task Remaining to Us

What is the purpose the Teacher wishes for in the Republic of Korea?

It is to achieve, centering on the Republic of Korea, a foundation from which one can go to the world. And thereby to bequeath God’s Will to this humanity. For this reason, if you would follow the Teacher, you cannot follow with worldly notions. You and the Teacher must become one body of one mind so that whether going east or west, wherever we go, we transcend the limit of the environment.

We must achieve a standard of heart (심정) by which we wish to eat together and live together. The Unification Church must all become as one. It must become like a single cell.

You must know that the greatest task remaining to us is to achieve oneness and overcome and cross all boundary lines. Eating a meal must be for that, sleeping too for that, coming and going too for that. We must be made one with such earnest devotion.

As the price that follows the standard of indemnity, the Unification Church must advance along; whatever sacrifice may follow, we must be able to pay it without hesitation. There, one does not know who will be sacrificed. Even if I am offered there as a sacrificial victim, I must hold a heart of gratitude. As a self who ought rightly to bear it, if I am to be offered as a victim, I must be able to step forward gladly. You must become one who can take responsibility in such a position and break through the boundary line.

There are Japanese members here too, but the nation called Japan is not the only problem. Before there is a nation called Japan, there must first be an individual who can receive God’s love. Without such an individual, such a nation cannot come forth. This is because of the Fall. Because of the Fall, there was no such family, no such tribe, no such people. Such a nation cannot come forth without such a people.

Therefore, Japan too, seen from the standpoint of the Will, cannot become a heavenly nation. Without a foundation formed by the ties of individual-to-individual centered on God and a tribal foundation centered on God, there cannot be a national foundation centered on God.

From such a viewpoint, without a national foundation centered on God, Japan cannot subsist. National feeling is not the problem. This becomes a problem because the boundary line spoken of until now has not yet been crossed.

If there is such a problem, then, in a position where all must become one and break through the final battle line toward the world of goodness and cross over, one is not a qualified person who can face the worldwide fortune.

From this viewpoint, considering the final boundary line that must be crossed, with the Republic of Korea alone, the providence of salvation of the democratic world cannot be accomplished either.

In this world, many boundary lines cannot be parted however one tries, and cannot be brought together however one tries. One must keep fighting until the time when, tearing down those many boundary lines, one makes the world into a single common stage of living where all people can live in a welfare nation.

Whatever obstacle there may be, one must smash it. When one thinks of that, it is not our lack of strength that is our han. That we could not love God is our han.

They say the young women’s faces are ugly, but the face is formed; that is not the problem.

Let Us All Unite and, of One Heart and One Mind, Go This Road of the Will

In the true sense, if one cannot love God, one cannot love the country and cannot love the world.

So, centering on the inner standard, one must love God more than anything. As one member of the Unification Church, you must pass through the tribal course and the national course; you must go, and from there go toward the nation and the world. The distance between the world and the nation may be far, but that difference is not much.

What did Jesus do when he came to the nation of Israel?

He tried to take the nation of Israel upon his shoulders. In that sense, the Unification Church has been driven into a corner many times until now. The Unification Church is presenting problems even in present society, but in the future, not only for society but in place of the whole world’s humanity, it will completely furnish our foundation and go forward presenting a distinct goal before this country, this people. It will present a standard by which the Unification Church alone can save the thirty million and can unify the communist party or any ideology whatsoever. Holding such a goal, one must go forward, centering on the nation.

A wise person follows the road that is for the sake of the world more than for the individual, more than for the nation. A person who sacrifices himself for the sake of the world is a finer person than one who is loyal to the Republic of Korea.

Therefore, seen from the point of dealing with the world problem centering on the unification movement, for this country to go forth before the world’s humanity, one must cross all at once even the individual, family, tribal, and national standards of until now. A wise person goes forward examining such a future.

Therefore, a leader must know for certain at what time he must cross the boundary line. If one does not know this for certain, one cannot be a leader. At that time, one must pour out all one’s energy.

Waking or sleeping, coming or going, one must mobilize the whole of a living that has become entirely one and win. Judgment must be made all at once while praying. And one must make a judgment that stakes even one’s very life.

Whether one is resurrected or perishes hangs upon it. If God is together with one, one wins—that is, one lives. But if Satan is together with one, one perishes. And one must know why this is so.

In our Unification Church, we tell you to become sons and daughters who, centering on God’s heart (심정), can be conversant with His circumstances.

What does this mean?

It means that this position of son and daughter is connected to the Kingdom of Heaven and is the position of a cosmic-historical substance through which God passes to and fro. Therefore, in the future, you must cross the boundary line; you must go.

If you look quietly at the people who left after attending the Unification Church, there are all sorts of people: “I cannot go there because I hate the sight of So-and-so”; “Teacher Moon of the Unification Church is fine, but So-and-so is unlucky to see even in a dream,” and so on. And they say, “I will not eat what So-and-so eats.” But is that a thing to say?

First, I have to eat right now and live—will I refuse to eat because an evil person eats it? Will I refuse to breathe the air because an evil person breathes and lives on it? If one says one will not breathe that, one must die. To build one nation, one must eat and live together. What has that to do with a person who follows the Teacher? If there is a problem, it is in the Teacher himself.

One must always do everything centering on the Will; it is not done according to one’s own freedom. Without the Will, it is nothing. Do you live because of the Will, or do you live because global problems are unfolding?

What that road of the Will is, is the road by which one can cross the ridge that all the world’s humanity can cross—that is, cross the boundary line and find a new road. Therefore, it is a road needed by all people. Because he can find that road, the Teacher can proclaim it before many people. Otherwise, the very start of that proclamation is a sin. Therefore, we must all unite and, of one heart and one mind, go this road.

The Spirit World Too Must Go This Road

A wise person advances well toward the road he must go in the future. When the Teacher has come to pioneer the course of Restoration until now, it is absolutely not that God taught it to him. It is that one thinks about what will become of things ten years, twenty years later.

Even though the seat one now sits in is wretched, that seat is not the problem. One must pave that road, centering on the problem of how heavenly fortune will turn ten, twenty years later. And one must become a person who goes ahead on that road and waits.

If the people of this present age see such a person, they will call him a person out of his mind. But one must act that way, holding the mind that I create history.

Though the Teacher has said many new words in the Unification Church, when I hear what you say, the longer a person has been on the road of the Will, the more they say that things turn out just as the Teacher’s word said. They say that, whenever and wherever, things turn out just as he spoke. Yet people do not know that these things come about by God.

Some people suddenly ask, concerning what the Teacher wishes to do, “What profit is there in the future in doing such a thing, and for what is that work needed?” —but they ask that because they do not know the content. It is done because it is truly a pressing position. You must know that. Seen centering on the Will, crossing the boundary line, following the road the Teacher goes, is an inevitable destiny. Therefore, it is a road all must go in common toward a common goal.

The spirit world too must go this road. In the spirit world, one must cooperate with the road the earthly Unification Church goes. In going, the spirit world is ahead, so the Unification Church cannot but follow in after it. In this way, mobilizing countless peoples, we must make it so that in every place they can give us public recognition.

From that viewpoint, many foreign members come here. If you look here, there are many Japanese who have come; you must not, in dealing with them, hold the thought, “The Japanese in the old days did such-and-such.” Though the Japanese go about spreading all sorts of false rumors about me, I have the responsibility to pray for blessing upon them. That is why I sent a missionary to Japan.

In that way we must pass through Asia. When we love Asia, can we love it omitting Japan? And when we love the Republic of Korea, can we love it omitting the sinners?

If so, that is a love anyone can do. The person with whom God can be together is a person who can love everyone even in a fate of being whipped and wandering at death’s door. A person who is in such a position comes to have many who look after him.

While saying one loves the Republic of Korea, one must not love only the people who stand on one’s own side and hate all the people who oppose. Though countless people heap all sorts of blame and slander upon me, I have not, for that reason, prayed to God to make them perish. There is no need to pray such a prayer.

I love Korea. To say I love Korea means I must love that land where the bones of the enemy are buried, love that people, and love even the bones of the enemy so that they too can receive grace—so that when rain comes, they are rained upon, and when the morning sunlight shines, they can see that sunlight. When it becomes so, that place becomes a blessed place. Holding such a mind, what must one do in the end? I tell you to hold a worldwide feeling.

One Who Is Loyal for the Sake of the World Becomes the Final Victor

Looking at the women, they say, “Oh dear, I will marry a Korean,” but I tell you to transcend such a notion. And the men too say they will not marry unless it is a Korean. Do not hold such a trifling thought.

What does it matter if he is a Westerner, and what if he is a darky?

If one only loves God, it is fine. All people are precisely my companions who can cross the worldwide boundary line. And you must know that the highest ideal form of goodness we aim for is precisely that.

Therefore, we must hold a mind that is for the sake of something greater, and be loyal for the sake of the country. Many people wonder whether Teacher Moon of the Unification Church is trying to become president.

What would one do becoming the president of one country—eating well, going about well, riding around in an automobile? Even the president of the Republic of Korea must become a president for the sake of the world. Otherwise, one perishes.

You must know that such an enormous task and responsibility remain before each of you.

In any case, one dies once in a lifetime. So however fearsome a storm may rage, one must cross the final ridge. One must not, after going along well, fall before the boundary line. What are you doing standing at such a boundary line? You have all done well to enter the Unification Church. Your appearances are each formed however they please, but you have done well to enter.

Yet, though one may not make it to the end even by running with one’s wits fully about one, if one dawdles, one gives up along the way. Unless one breaks through the boundary line all the way to the final finish line, one cannot become a victor.

Since a fight centered on the nation and the people has broken out, with the enormous mission called the restoration of the Cosmos set before us, I say let us go straight to the worldwide battlefield. “Let us go”—that is what I mean.

It is a thing worth doing, having been born a person. Even if others oppose and persecute from behind, it is enough to go the road one must go. There is no room to concern oneself with others’ opposition. A person who, even step by step, says, “Let me hurry on and pass through this road of destiny,” can cross the final boundary line. You must go that way.

This time we have newly reorganized the structure, so we must move newly. Because everything that moves in this way is for the sake of Restoration centered on the people or the nation, or for the sake of broadening the foundation for the world, you must comply with it. Rather than this-and-that, I tell you to sacrifice the individual henceforth. In breaking through the final boundary line that remains, I ask that you support and pray.
