My Husband, My Wife

Now, let us read the following. Hoon Dok Hae is going back to the old times. “This is from the Sermons of the Reverend Sun Myung Moon, Volume 3. The words were spoken on September 8, 1957, at the Former Headquarters Church.” Centering on that time, for ten years, I taught about Jesus.

People do not know the basics of the contents of the Bible. Among Christians, there are not many who have read the Old and New Testaments even once. As believers, very few have actually read through the Old and New Testaments. There are some, but they understand nothing. They are going to have a hard time once they enter the spirit world. You too must go knowing. Those who do not know cannot belong anywhere they go.

Who Am I

They have looked down on the Unification Church and treated it lightly, but the Unification Church knows all the deep valleys of every secret of the Bible. We know all the inside stories of those mysterious places, like the Grand Canyon, those gorges where no one else can enter. They claim to know everything, but when you go to the spirit world, you find how much they do not know. Because they are so ignorant, they cannot even attempt to go there.

It must be accomplished on earth. It is not something that can be accomplished after dying and going to the spirit world. It must be fulfilled on earth and then brought in. Whoever has fallen ancestors is a descendant of those fallen ancestors and cannot become an ancestor from before the Fall.

History is structured that way. Descendants are connected to the flaws of their leader and cannot reach what came before that. It is because they do not know. It is the same as a person who has never lived at the Headquarters of our Unification Church, not knowing the circumstances of the Headquarters. (Reading from Hoon Dok Hae of Sermons of the Reverend Sun Myung Moon, Volume 3, the sermon titled “When Shall I Stand Before the Father.”)

This is the concluding word, and you must take it to heart. Taking it to heart is not a matter of doubt, nor is it something subtle. Because the very thing itself cannot be explained — though it is certain — there is no need to correct your direction, and no need to change the position to which you are going. With that very thing, everything is concluded.

What might have been the feelings of your Teacher at the age of thirty-seven when he came to attend to his mother? What might have been the feelings of the church members? What might have been the feelings of facing the nation? That comes out automatically.

What is the final foundation upon which we can conclude everything centering on today's words?

It is “I.” Who am I? What am I? The problem is how to explain that.

Now, in this new era, I must fly past the single-digit place, beyond the second and third digits as well. I must be liberated.

Already, I stand in a position where no one needs to advise me, and when I consider that I stand in a position where the nation and the world must follow the road I walk, it is a tremendous story.

Then here there are men and women — but what kind of people are these?

Who am I? On this path of faith, what is “the door that opens Heaven,” which your Teacher has concluded upon? It is the family. What is “the Owner of Peace, the Owner of Lineage”?

Through what can one become such an owner?

If it is a family, you must become the owner in the family; if a nation, the owner in the nation; if the world, the owner in the world.

If God is the Father, then before that Father as well, it cannot but be a necessary content. That is a serious problem.

What is the foundation of my being?

What is the foundation of a woman, and what is the foundation of a man? Do you know? If you ask the women and the men, they will say, “What is the use of knowing even that?”

If they say to your Teacher, “What is the use of knowing even that?” — Then once you do know it, how must you live? Living is that. It is that, yet because you did not know it, you cannot bear witness to your own self standing at the destination you are seeking.

Then, when comparing myself, who entered the path of faith long ago, knowing nothing, with myself today, who has crossed over the ridge, where must this present “I” go? I have considered all that the world calls good; I have spoken of it and taught it — yet what is to become of it?

What is to be done if it does not turn out so?

Well, even if it were God Himself standing in that position, I know very well that He would hesitate to answer. Even if He answered himself, you could not follow it. That is why there are many times when silence is kept — even in serious prayer.

The Topics We Ourselves Need

Looking here as well, there are many good words. I have spoken many words that no one in the world knows — but how many people are there who need these many words?

Is it a thousand, ten thousand, or a hundred million? There are 6.5 billion in humanity and several hundred billion in the spirit world, and those several hundred billion do not know. To think one knows, or to assume so, when one has neither spoken about it nor borne witness to it — that itself is a great sin. Even if your neck is cut off and your tongue is torn out, what must you do?

You should think you have not yet done all you have to do, even after having done every conceivable thing, yet without speaking, without engaging in that work, people sit and criticize. What becomes of such a person?

Will they become a child of God, a son or daughter of God, a disciple of God, a servant of God?

They cannot even become a servant. They cannot even become a disciple. They are people who cannot even become a child. That is how serious it is.

If you look here (The Door to Heaven Is the True Family), it says, “God's Blessing for the Inheritance of Love and Joy.” Wow, that is tremendous! Looking at it, these are simple contents, yet everything makes the heart well up, and the eyes find the answer to the task — “What are you going to do?”

The course of life searching for the center of love! By how many degrees has the direction toward the center of love deviated, and are you going straight from the front? Is it the road going upward or the road going downward? Are you going, looking downward, attending, or being reproached? When you take hold of this and ask yourself at any point along the way, how is it?

The course of life passing through the three eras — what is this again?

You can say, “When we speak of three eras, it means grandfather, father, and myself — these three eras.” That speaks of the fundamental trunk of history. Then what kind of era is the first, and what kind is the second? The course of life passes through three eras — once you go beyond it, what is its limit? That is an unclear task.

Earthly life is a training ground for matching rhythm with the spirit world!

Do you know what kind of rhythm the spirit world has?

In a vast and boundless place, several hundred billion are dwelling there, and they are busy receiving education there, yet it is a “training ground for matching the rhythm.” Those who do not even want to do their elementary school studies — how can they manage? When their bag of greed bursts, they don't know whether blood or water or excrement or urine will come out, and they only talk about it — but does talking accomplish anything? Those are irresponsible words.

In the old days, it was not “The Door That Opens Heaven” but “The Path That Opens Heaven.” How do “path” and “door” differ? No matter how many paths one walks, there is only one door at the destination of the path one walks. The door our ancestors loved, the door this age now loves, the door our descendants thousands of generations hence will love — there is only one.

Are your hearts one as well?

Hearts are in a thousand strands or ten thousand strands. As it is said, “The heart of man changes from morning to evening, but the color of the mountains is the same from ancient times to today,” so the mountain's color does not change. The mountain may open one door and wait, but the human heart changes from morning to evening. It means there are a thousand doors. Can you trust such a self?

The subtitle reads, “In Order to Achieve the Harmony of Love Between the Sexes” — can there be love between the sexes? There are truly many interesting things. The relationship between a moment and a lifetime — what can bind that relationship? It is not money, and it is not knowledge. What is it? When we say it is something that can swallow history, something for which one would say it is fine even if history were digested into it, no person possesses such a thing.

There are this many subtitles, and there are very many headings that define them and explain them. To whom are these necessary? To the being called “I” — they are necessary to me. They are not necessary for other people. They are necessary to us ourselves.

Who Would Love a Lineage Mottled and Mixed Up in Confusion

Mother, please read the “Foreword” of The Door to Heaven Is the True Family well. Mother reads well, and her voice is good, so please read it once with feeling! (True Mother reads the “Foreword” of The Door to Heaven Is the True Family in Hoon Dok Hae; ...... I pray that the grace of Heaven may overflow upon you, your families, and your nations. — Editorial Office)

The word “editor” was not used. It is “Editorial Office.” It is not one household of the Republic of Korea, but the Republic of Korea itself. When you say “office” (處, cheo), all the threads of relationships before and after, and all the facts of those connections, enter into it. Can you explain such content?

Today I would like to speak about husband and wife — words you do not know. If I give them to you, you will pour them all out as soon as you go back. The time has come for that. Whose household are all these people from? What things are these? Whose things are these?

Is it good to be a thing of the Unification Church or good to be a thing of the Founder of the Unification Church?

Within the Unification Church, too, there are many strands — upper, middle, lower — and when you say “such-and-such church,” all of that is included. But when you say “the Founder,” it refers to a specific individual, the subject. That is a serious matter.

This is The Owner of Peace, the Owner of Lineage — and what is the Owner of Peace? Because God has been attended in the Owner of Peace, the lineage of the archangel, the lineage of Adam, and the lineage of God are not mixed together. Because of the Fall, all of them have become mixed.

Up until now, even in the fallen world, people have sought peace. No one has sought peace, no one who has not spoken of peace — yet no one has become the Owner of Peace, and no one knows the history of peace.

First, they do not know that the lineage is different.

If the lineage is thus different, it means there was another father and mother apart from the original Father and Mother. It means the lineage of that other father and mother has been connected to me.

Then can two lineages — the lineage of the archangel and the lineage of Adam — be planted at one time?

Absolutely not. Can two men come together and plant centering on the concave place of one woman? Even if you work for ten thousand years, the claim that they can be planted together is a flat-out lie.

And whose is the convex thing the man has? “Whose else would it be…? It was received from our mother and father, so it is the mother and father's.” Is that so?

The problem is great. The claim that Satan's blood and Adam's blood came forth in the same place cannot exist even in a dream. It absolutely cannot exist.

Then how did the two lineages come forth tangled together?

Because that person called “papa” and the person called “mama” did as they pleased — one day receiving Adam's lineage, the next day the archangel's lineage — the lineage has become mixed. Mottled. When we say “mottled,” in the light, a white paper does not simply become mottled but turns pitch-black and then snow-white, so the paper itself, which was thick, gets holes punched through it; the red light from the front shines through to the back, and the black from the back shines through to the front. That cannot even be called “mottled.” It is utter chaos.

Who would love a thing that has such utterly chaotic colors?

Can the Father love it?

Such a Father cannot eternally exist, and such a Mother cannot eternally exist. Such a man or woman cannot exist. That such a thing might exist, and the fact that this is the same as saying it does not exist — all of that must vanish.

The Four Great Figures of Western Thought

Among the thinkers, who are the four great figures of Western thought?

Descartes, Kant, Hegel, and then Nietzsche. Descartes said, “I think, therefore I am” — is that so? Was that man not insane? Where had his mother and father been? Where had that nation gone? And he fundamentally ignored even God, who created heaven and earth. He said that because he thinks, therefore he is. The nation was there above him — was it “I think, therefore I am”? Who acknowledged that? Because no one could believe it, in the end, it became unnecessary.

Next, Kant spoke of the Critique of Pure Reason — but where is pure reason? Was Kant a pure person?

Then Critique of Practical Reason and Critique of Judgment — centering on knowledge, he performed groundless conjuring tricks. Throw it away. Did he know the lineage? Did he know the lineage had gone wrong? Did he know about the Fall? After having fallen, can the words “pure reason” exist? Can the words “practical reason” exist?

Hegel spoke of the logic of thesis-antithesis-synthesis — how does the opposite come out of the thesis? Does unification come about centering on that three-step logic? It was forced. Centering on Korean history, the famous one is Dr. Yi Pyeong-do, and he is a fine gentleman. He said, “The logic of thesis-division-union that President Moon spoke of, even when I think about it, is correct. I, too, shall become a Unificationist.” Why did he say so?

From harmonization comes unification. Unification does not come out of harmonization, first being absent. How can harmonization come out of unification? It is by being harmonized that unification comes about. That three-step logic is correct. “President Moon, I believe.”

So saying, he submitted his membership application when he was somewhere in his seventies. “I do not know when I shall depart, so I must register in the Unification Church before I go,” he said as he greeted me.

The logic of thesis-antithesis-synthesis cannot exist.

What does it mean that the antithesis comes out of the thesis?

Rather than from “being,” it comes from non-being — meaning that the realm of the ideal of goodness does not exist. Next, Nietzsche said that God is dead. Why did he say so? He said that God had ruined Christianity. “Is the God of Christianity, who is its owner, a living God?”

It is not that God Himself made the fallen lineage. They did not know that.

What kind of man was that Nietzsche?

Because he said God is dead, he said that this entire cosmos cannot even pull itself together. Those men, after going to the spirit world, joined and reported on the actual situation there. They reported in detail.

Is the Family Pledge necessary?

Who made it? “Father, you made it.” You do not know how many times the Family Pledge was revised. Even when I prayed, the answer would not come out. The more I prayed, the more I tumbled down. I was about to fall headfirst off a cliff. How could there have been such an incident? Was there anything that could be carried even a single step over?

Let us read the actual situation of the spirit world once. You must not be ignorant of this. Where is Nietzsche? The others besides him are also written out in detail — buy it and read it. (Hoon Dok Hae reading of the Nietzsche section in Messages from Philosophers and Thinkers Sent from the Heavenly World.)

Reverend Sun Myung Moon — this old man who is right here — has not even gone to the spirit world, so why are they making such a commotion? Because of Reverend Moon, a great upheaval has broken out in the spirit world.

If you do not establish your place on this earth, you also will not have a place established in the spirit world. The same is true of the Four Great Saints. Because of the philosophers, an upheaval has broken out. That must be set in order.

The Yeong Yeon Se Association, Where All Join Under God

In the words read in Hoon Dok Hae today, what is this being called “I”? Everyone is individualistic. Shall we read this once? You must all take this in (memorize it).

Reading this takes nearly three hours, but I cut it down to one hour. I shortened it to one-third. There is certainly a Cain-type structure in it. You must read that and then read this. Both must be read. So much has been taken out, you see.

Let us quickly read The Owner of Peace, the Owner of Lineage, once. Because the day after tomorrow I am going somewhere, this is necessary. I must give you a conclusion and then go. I am speaking about your families. “The door that opens Heaven is the True Family.” Then what's next? “The Owner of Peace, the Owner of Lineage” — and that is in two branches.

If there has been an Owner of Peace up until now, that owner was God. The only nation that has known God alone and served Him is Korea. The Korean people have never invaded another nation throughout their history. They have never fought and overrun anywhere. They have advocated peace. The true Owner of Peace is God. Because we have served this God, the destination of culture too must come to be gathered under the wings of God, who can govern.

What is the conclusion? It is that we must gather before God's knees — that is the Yeong Yeon Se (靈聯世) Association. It is connecting with the spirit world. The character “yeon” (聯) is written with the “ear” (耳) radical and then this configuration. This is a formula. Yeong Yeon Se Association — the character “hyeop” (協) in “association” is the “ten” (十) radical combined with one large “strength” (力) and one small “strength” (力). It means erecting the cross so that God, Cain, and Abel become one. That is the character “hyeop” (協). “Hyeophoe” (協會) is “association,” not “federation.” It is not a confederation. It is a fundamental, simple gathering.

Because the Owner of Peace lost peace due to the lineage, it is for the sake of restoring the lineage, and in the end, the nation enters into the day of restoring the lineage. The lineage must be connected upon peace.

God Himself, until He establishes the Owner of Lineage — because Cain and Abel turned the lineage upside down, until that is set right — He cannot but go as the Owner of Peace from the beginning to the Last Days (끝날) of history. Therefore, the Owner of Peace, and above that, the Owner of Lineage.

Cain and Abel — these two fight. That is why it is the Wongu Peace Cup Cain-Abel Cosmic Federation Tournament. Cheon Ji Bumo Cheonju Anshik Kwon (Realm of the Sabbath of the Parents of Heaven and Earth and of the Cosmos)! Heaven-and-earth and Parents have no connection. They have no relationship. That is the problem. The Parents of the heavenly nation have no relationship to the realm of the Sabbath. After Cheon Ji Bumo Cheonju Anshik Kwon, what came forth first is absoluteness of sex (절대성). Have you seen the absoluteness of sex?

Do women and men know the absoluteness of sex?

Now, in the name of sexual liberation and so on, grandmothers live with their sons and live with their grandsons. Fathers live with their daughters. Do you know that incestuous relationships have become the common central ideology of America? This is beyond all measure.

So what is the comprehensive conclusion? Under one God, all gather — and at the Last Days, what is it? It is the Yeong Yeon Se Association.

We did Hoon Dok Hae, did we not? “Yes.” Your Teacher said he would speak about the root of husband and wife — shall I, or not? Today is the only chance — do you want to listen, or not? It is simple.

What is a wife and a husband?

They are husband and wife together. Why is she called anae (아내, “wife”)? No matter how many women there are, my woman is one. The one inside (안) who is mine (내) — anae! The meaning is fearsome.

Nampyeon (남편, “husband”) means “the other person's side” (남의 편). The one on the other side of me is the nampyeon — yet she calls him “my nampyeon.” Though there are countless other men, my husband is only one. Does she say “another's husband” or “my husband”? Even among many men, my husband is the only one.

The wife is the same. There are many women, but my wife is one. The one and only wife — she is the “I” inside (안). That is the bride. Among the men on the other side, "my husband, mine.” When you say “my nampyeon,” what does that mean? Though he is on the other side, my husband is the only one. That is absolute.

Therefore, what is the title of Cheon Ji Bumo Cheonju Anshik Kwon?

It is the absoluteness of sex. Among women, my wife is the only one, and among the men on the other side, my husband is the only one.

One with one, eternally the two going together. It is absolute. Have you become such a couple? As soon as they marry, they have affairs and wound their first love.

The man who became one's first love, the woman who became the one's first love — these one can never forget eternally. So if those who once loved each other end up divorcing, what is to be done? There is no man who, after divorcing, does not look up at the ceiling and shed tears, and no woman who does not shed tears. Why is that? Because he is the absolute “my husband,” she is the absolute “my wife.” Is it not so? There is only one. That means “the one.”

Men and women are different — but no matter how many women and men there are, “my husband” or “my wife” is only one. That is absolute.

Can sexuality (性) be divided?

Can the mother's sexuality and the daughter's sexuality, the son-in-law's sexuality and the son's sexuality be exchanged? Absolutely, they cannot be exchanged. The very words are distinguished.

Among wives, my wife! Among husbands, my husband! My husband cannot be two. He is one. It means one cannot marry twice. Because there are not two paths, sons and daughters come forth resembling.

When you know that fact for certain, what will become of the lineage for ten thousand generations? Lineage resembles up to seventy or eighty percent.

When we say “wife, wife,” it means “that woman within is mine.” Anae — mine.

The “other person's side,” nampyeon, is on the other side, but my husband is the only one. Even if there were ten men, the husband is my husband. “Mine” — what is mine is not two. It is one. That is absolute.

Because the one who eternally loves becomes deeper and higher and broader, becoming like God; because I stand in the position of representative and stand in the position to inherit — God's possession becomes my possession, and the possession of the kindred who have inherited the same lineage cannot but become so as well! Truly, thank you. Truly, that is good!

Confusion Breaks Out Because People Do Not Know the Path of Love

Well, eating and sleeping, coming and going — how is it?

Coming and going is not only for the sake of coming and going. It is for the sake of leaving behind a love that can be even better than before.

So if you have met a hundred times, what is good becomes a hundred-times-and-more good, eating and sleeping become happiness, coming and going become happiness, and because what you love grows greater, you cannot but be happy. Happiness is not many things that fall away from oneself, but many things that adhere — things that become a benefit.

Anae, that which is mine within — there are not two but only one. Even though he is on the other side, my husband is different from another's husband, is he not?

Husband, bridegroom — there is only one. Just the same. Absolute spouses whose circumstances are the same are a wife who knows only one and a bridegroom who knows only one — a couple whom even God can grasp and cannot release eternally.

Only by becoming such a couple can one bestow the Blessing through which the heavenly nation can be inherited. Otherwise, it cannot be.

The wife before the husband! Is what is mine inside two or one?

Is what is mine inside the bridegroom two persons, or one? Even though there are countless women, the one inside is one. Husband — what is “my bridegroom” among the other-side persons whose shape is different from one's own, is also only one. There are not two. Why? Can you embrace two and love them at once? Can you kiss them at the same time? Absolutely not.

Then does love come down from above or come up from below?

Because everyone does not know the answer, confusion arises. One must give, and one must receive — but does the great one give to the small, or does the small give to the great? People are men and women — is the greater person the woman or the man? “The man.” By night and by day, the only one to put forth is the man. There are many thieves, many wolves, many tigers, and many crocodiles.

So one must always put the strong one in front of oneself.

Likewise, when things are difficult, should the woman stand in front of the man, or hide behind him? “Hide behind him.” That is why the woman must stand on the left.

Why must she stand on the left?

Because the man stands on the right. It means she is to be protected. The woman is meant to be protected. The women sitting here — are they Japanese aunties, or Korean aunties? “Japanese aunties.” Japanese aunties, stand up. Let us see how many there are!

Is this more than half?

Are there more standing or more sitting? “More are standing.” Japanese women, women of a defeated nation, were women destined to be sold off.

If I had not stepped in, you would have been sold off to four or five countries and made to suffer to the point of death. You were the lot who could have lived weeping at the sight of a moon-halo, weeping at the sound of a bird, weeping through spring, summer, autumn, and winter, and through ice and snow.

But because I made it so that you came as brides to Korea, do you know you are living in comfort? If you had been in Japan, you would be very busy.

If you were told to work with not 430 couples per household but more than three times that, would you have to do it, or not? Are you not the ones who came thinking it would be comfortable to come to Korea? Well, you got yourselves nicely caught.

When you all were suffering — during the 40-day workshop in Yeosu-Suncheon — I tried as much as possible to visit three times each. There are lots whom I could not visit even once, and you cannot know how painful that is in my heart.

I think, “For those I could not meet, I must meet them at Cheon Jeong Gung and at least give them a banquet.....” But if I do that, what becomes of those who suffered here? Problems arise.

As for the men, when older sisters or wives become old in age, put them out. So what shall we do? Educate day and night. Even the Chinese and Japanese people must be educated.

If we hold to our words, we can, instantly, make it so that not only the nation of Japan but also the nation of China cannot complain. The two nations are bound to be pleased. They cannot oppose.

Complete the Mission: Responsibility of Registering Your Tribe in the Heavenly Nation

Know this, and let us sing a song. You know the “Boat Song” (Baetnorae)? Women who came from Japan, raise your hands. Many have come! You must take the 40-day workshop.

From now on, when ships are built at the shipyards and stationed at every port of the world with only my name attached to them, what will happen? At the ports of the nations of the world, a tradition that the citizens can support has been established. Absolutely no harm will be caused. Absolutely, things will revive. Now, let us do it! (All sing the “Boat Song.”)

The Japanese women who came here for the rally, the Japanese women who came to meet the new ten-year period — what are you to do with your 430 couples each?

Blessed couples must bring their tribe and educate them and have them receive the Blessing. In Japan, I commanded that 30,000 couples be blessed.

Even that is too few. Since the Japanese people are three times more than the Korean people, you must produce a record of being able to bless 50,000 couples, 70,000 couples, or even more than 140,000 couples. Use all your devotion and possessions and produce results.

Now your Teacher does not even have time to tell you to witness. Have I not passed ninety? I have no strength. And I have no time to rest. Because I have the skill of escaping when people follow me, whenever anyone tries to come find me, I have my private airplane, so when I fly off a thousand or ten thousand leagues, you cannot meet me. When I think about how many of these departure days could be the last, I do not know when a meeting can ever happen.

If we meet in the spirit world and you deny fulfilling your responsibility, what remains is to be set aside and disciplined. That is a calamity in itself, but what of the lot whom one cannot even meet in the spirit world? My worries are many. Therefore, during this period, you must complete the mission-responsibility remaining to you so that, of yourselves, you can say, “Because I am the representative of liberation, the heir of liberation, registering the many people, the tribes whom I can liberate, before Heaven will undoubtedly be brought to its destination through me, and I shall go to seek out where the Teacher is.” At that time, the teacher must also welcome you.

If you cannot come, we cannot meet.

I am thinking of distributing seven volumes each this time. For those who did not come, even if they offer tens of millions of won each, the publication will not be given. Then go to the place where these books are made — if it is 1,000 copies, then 1,000 copies, at so much per copy — and print them, and play the game of saving your tribes; do it if you will, and forget it if you will. Know that for those who miss the time, I cannot take responsibility. Without such people becoming what they must, even the shadow of hope disappears.

Now, knowing this, return home safely. I ask that you become ancestors who, before your parents, can receive the welcoming applause of being told that our daughter has become a princess of the Unification Church and a person responsible for registering the tribe in Heaven.
