Daegu Church
Jesus lived his whole life for the sake of God’s Will, centered on God’s heart (심정), and then passed on. He sought to reflect God’s heart in his actions, and he sought to fulfill his mission in the battle with the angel—that is, in the battle with the enemy. He also came forth with a heart that sought to restore even the failures of the forefathers who remained in history.
We must realize that Jesus, who knew this to be God’s hope, always reflected upon his life so as not to depart from this standard and walked the path of a new pioneer.
Oneness of Heart and the Work of Heaven (役事)
From the time he set out, Jesus spoke his words with the single thought of realizing the world of hope that Heaven and all the spiritual world longed for, and he acted with such a heart. Because his action was an action that God protected, an action that the angels guarded, an action that human beings had longed for throughout history, whoever violated it came to receive a historical judgment and came to receive the direct judgment of God, who comes forth together with history.
You must not forget that, in age after age, when God came to seek human beings, He came with a heart of inexpressible earnestness.
Today you have been called as representatives before God’s Will, centered on the ideal of unification.
If you feel that you have stood in the position of standing in the stead of Abraham, in the stead of Moses, or in the stead of Jesus’ mission, then you must reflect God’s historical heart, and you must stand in the position of inheriting the tradition of heart that God has been establishing up to now.
God is gazing upon me, the angelic world is gazing upon me, the myriad saints are gazing upon me, and all the brethren of this age whom God seeks are gazing upon me; so wherever I, who am one with God’s standard of heart, go, God and the entire spiritual world move to the left when I move left and to the right when I move right.
When you go forward with such conviction, the persecution, the injustice, the indignation, and the tears that I undergo and shed are not my individual persecution, injustice, indignation, and tears. They stand in the stead of Heaven, in the stead of the angelic world, in the stead of the myriad saints who gaze toward the center of goodness.
For that reason, one can appeal to the whole world of all existence in heaven and on earth. From this point of origin, God’s providence has developed.
Therefore, from now on, you must reflect God’s heart even in a single action and a single word. And you must say that you will resolve the han (한) of the angelic world and avenge the historical enemy of the ancestors.
So we must save this world in which evil is rampant. This is the hope of the saints, and you must go forward bearing responsibility before that hope.
You who stand in such a position must not leave God to remain as God is, the spiritual world to remain as it is, and the many saints to remain as they are. They wish their longing to be realized on the earth; yet if they come to have no relation whatsoever with me, such a person is no more than a single individual.
If the spiritual world were mobilized to cooperate with such a person, the harm would be immense. For such a person, not even God can take responsibility. Nor can anyone cooperate with such a person.
Therefore, if you wish for the cooperation of the spiritual world, wish for the cooperation of God, and wish to receive God’s protection from the position of facing God’s Will, you must not forget that you must always go forward in oneness with the heart of God and of the righteous ancestors.
Therefore, each time you stand before the Will, your body and mind must always stand in the same position as Abraham offering a sacrifice and the same position as Jesus’ course of final decision when he prayed in the garden of Gethsemane and bore the cross toward the summit of Golgotha.
You must also stand in the position of standing in the stead of Heaven and in the stead of the earth, and in the position of resolving all the bitterness of Heaven.
What a True Offering Is
God has been awaiting such a substantial being. The angelic world, too, has been awaiting such a substantial being. And our ancestors as well have been awaiting the time when such a substantial being would appear in reality and have been awaiting the one day of the resolution of han, when such a being could be established, and a historical indemnity could be made.
Therefore, we must carry out, with our hands, with our mouths, and with our bodies, this enormous mission, acting in God’s stead in the work of judgment that removes evil.
We must walk a course on which goodness is established through me, and evil is removed through me. We must go forward with such an adamant conviction.
Moreover, since you who are gathered here go out to the provinces and bear responsibility, you must never lose this perspective. There will be times when loneliness seeps into your heart without your even knowing it.
At such times, you must realize that loneliness is not your loneliness but the loneliness God undergoes, the loneliness the angelic world undergoes, and the loneliness our ancestors undergo. Each time, you must be able to enter into that heart and shed tears together with them.
That place is exceedingly solemn. When God’s heart comes to be reflected in my heart, the world in which there is a love that kneels there and sheds tears together with God is an exceedingly holy world.
On this earth where evil is rampant today, the place where, in the figure of a holy sage on Heaven’s side, a heart that worries for Heaven and worries for the earth wells up and one sheds tears together with history—that is a place the many ancestors who come with the single thought of goodness do not spit upon.
Such a place, though to the eye it looks wretched, shabby, and as if it were nothing, is a holy place where heaven and earth become one’s friend, and one can take counsel about all things.
If one becomes such a person, then even if there is a moment of persecution and a moment of hardship, it is temporary. Through it, one can indemnify the suffering of the spiritual world, and one can indemnify the suffering of God.
And if, taking part in the suffering of the holy sage, one forgets one’s indignation for the sake of the whole, that becomes a condition of judgment by which even the suffering of the holy sage can be indemnified.
For whose sake was it that our Unification Church, walking the three-year course and the four-year course up to now, has stood in a position of not eating properly, of receiving persecution, of suffering, and of struggling?
And for whose sake am I doing this?
I have come forth as an offering up to now—but for whose sake was that? It was, first, for Heaven, then for the angelic world, and then for the myriad saints and for our descendants who are to be established with hope on this earth. Yes. I was an offering.
An offering must have no notion of possession. To be an offering is not to move while gazing only at one’s own purpose, but to go to the place of sacrifice for the sake of the mission of the whole, standing in the stead of the people if it is the people.
For that reason, an offering does not go about establishing its own private purpose but must go about establishing a public purpose. And in driving out evil and establishing the ideal of goodness, it must become a stepping-stone and a fertilizer. We must realize that this is the principle.
Among you, there will also be those who have wept aloud where no one knew. Grasping a clump of grass, you will often have appealed, “O God, resolve my han, I beseech Thee”; or, grasping a boulder, “You alone will know.”
You will know the hope of God, who created the world of creation in the beginning; you will know the sorrow of God when Adam and Eve fell; and you will know what an enemy to God is, the angel who caused them to fall.”
In such a place, since you went out and fought in the stead of the people and bore responsibility for that village, that township, that county, that province, you must realize that it was not a place where you grieved alone and appealed alone.
The more you are in such a place, the more you must grieve for the Will and for humankind, appeal for humankind, and, for the sake of the road ahead of humankind, fight on God’s side. In such a place, you must fight while receiving the cooperation of Heaven.
There Is No Restoration by Receiving
When God chooses and establishes a single center on the earth, He does not come with a false heart. He chooses and establishes a single center of heart, pouring out a heart that is the flesh of His flesh, the bone of His bone, the marrow of His marrow. Such a position is the truly genuine one.
Since this is a thing that happens only once in history, one cannot establish a single true standard without pouring out the highest passion and the highest heart.
This is why you must realize that God came to seek in this way individually, in this way at the family level, in this way at the national level, and in this way at the state and worldwide levels.
Then who are we today?
We are those who have been chosen by virtue of such a traditional bond, so that thought and tradition must be planted in our minds, our blood, and our flesh.
Only by devoting sincerity to save one person can one stand in the stead of the heart with which God came to seek the individual, in the stead of the heart with which He came to seek the family, in the stead of the heart with which He came to seek the people and the nation, and in the stead of the heart with which He came to seek the world.
On what standard of heart have you been standing up to now?
Unless you accord with this standard of principled tradition, the more your numbers grow, the more confusion you will bring; and the more a great multitude gathers here, the more they will, on their account, give greater distress to God.
Because God comes forth desiring a true ideal of oneness of heart, He gives truly and comes to seek truly. Therefore, we, who uphold that Will, must also be true.
When you go out witnessing, you must not lie from a position recognized as public before God.
The reason Jacob was able to come away having taken everything from Laban was that his twenty-one years of sacrifice became a standard that could receive several hundred times all of that and still have more to spare. And the reason the Israelite people were able to come away from Egypt having taken much material wealth was that, through four hundred years of forced labor, an internal foundation had been established that God could guarantee and that Satan could affirm. Before that, it cannot be done. One must, without fail, stand in such a position. Therefore, you must appeal to God.
You must say, “I intend to give true life. I intend to give several hundred times more than what I have received.” And you must say, “Satan, you too know this, so you will be unable to accuse.” Only when you have set up such a condition is there no trouble.
Restoration is not done by receiving. The path of restoration is a path that is pioneered. By receiving the things of the satanic world, one cannot accomplish the history of restoration. One must give the things of Heaven.
And in giving, what must one give?
One must give a true heart, one must give a true character, and one must give a true Word.
To achieve that, one must establish the standard of the true Word, the standard of true character, and the standard of true heart. Individually, at the family level, at the state, and worldwide levels, one must establish the true Word, true character, and true heart of an all-embracing standard.
The one who comes as the person responsible for broadening this scope, preparing a worldwide time, and establishing the indemnity standard for the whole world is the Messiah. You must not forget that he comes from a grave historical background.
From such a position, you must feel that even when you are alone, you are two. Even if you go alone, you are not alone. However lonely the place you enter, you are not alone.
Although there is no reason you should have to suffer in every environment, you must indemnify everything and restore a good position. At that time, when the enemies invade, it is God who strikes them.
This is why you must take over the ground of the heart on which God comes to seek, and you must take over the heart of the angelic world, of the myriad saints, and of the saints on earth.
When you come to stand in such a position, God always takes responsibility for you. When, having been disciplined in such a position, you come to receive God’s public recognition, that person can pass over freely even if he comes to bear the sin of the world.
Where did the heart with which Jesus forgave the sins of the people of the world arise?
It was because Jesus stood upon a foundation of heart, centered on a historical heart, by which he could rise above all things. Therefore, all the sins of the world stood in a position of having to be judged by him.
In this way, Jesus could exercise authority over the sins of the world freely, as he pleased. In the same way, you too, though you are individuals, are not in the position of an individual but in the position of a historical resurrected being.
What Is Not True Cannot Remain in History
Then, for what reason do I bear responsibility and walk this path?
It is to give to all people. But since, in giving, one cannot give to the whole all at once, the intent is to give to one individual and then, from that individual, through the family, the clan, the people, and the nation, to give to the world. This is the heart of God.
Therefore, when you give today, since you come to stand in the subject position—that is, in the substantial position standing in God’s stead—you must be able to see your object clearly.
You must discern whether that object is someone who will bring failure to me before the standard I have set and whether he is someone who will stand in the same position as our forefathers who betrayed God.
Once you take up responsibility, what follows is combat and struggle. You must wage a battle of whether you break or I break. In that battle, you must, in your generation, build the ground to bring about the natural surrender of at least three or more people who stand in an opposing position.
You must realize that with God, scheming and contriving absolutely do not work. Nor may you stand, your whole life, in a position of seeking to receive before the Will. Before the Will, you must stand only in the position of giving.
Up to now, even from a position of waging battle, the Teacher has prayed in this way for this land:
“O Father, this is my country and my land. Though it is a place where countless people raised the banner of revolt before Heaven, a ground that blocked the historical fortune of this people, a ground that sent the ideal of unification down the path of suffering — yet what wilt Thou do with this ground, O Father?”
By the principle of restoration through indemnity, on the day when we have not made them surrender on this land and have not lived on this land, countless peoples will automatically follow evil. This is why we must stand here.
We must pray more earnestly for this land than any believer of an established church prays for his church.
You must fight with greater conviction than a person responsible for an established church fights against the enemy Satan, and you must put forward the question of life and death. It is not a simple thing. You must keep going on, first, second, and third.
When, upon such a ground, you flock to every region of South Korea for the sake of God’s Will, God is watching behind you, and the myriad saints, the heavenly hosts and angels, and your good ancestors are watching the movement of you as a single entity.
Therefore, the destiny of the Unification Church hangs upon your two shoulders. Not only the destiny of the Unification Church, but the destiny of this people and the destiny of the world hang upon your two shoulders.
You must set yourself at such an enormous focal point and go together with God and go together with the humankind that God has desired. For such people, God upholds the upright posture in which they go forward.
You must pray,
“O Father, I know that Thou didst make such a sacrifice to seek the central individual of the providence. Since I wish to go as a heavenly representative who, centered on me, can seek out my clan and seek out my people, O Father, be with me.”
How solemn a prayer this is! Is it not God’s desire to establish such a person in each of the countless regions on this earth?
Today we must do this work with such a solemn sense of mission. Let us give truly; let us be true; let us be victorious; let us give truth together with our blood and sweat before humankind. What is not true cannot remain in history.
You may not know it, but the Teacher, who sent you out bears responsibility. The Teacher cannot but worry that the movement of you might, before the movement of the whole, perchance leave behind a blemish and bring about an unfortunate result.
We have come to realize that, if the bands who do not know God’s Will are simply left as they are, God must go on bearing a long, deep sigh.
Although we have met a level age in which we can be set before the same standard, although we are one people who have met the same fortune, although we are in the position of comrades who can go together—that this people should become an enemy.
When we think that our ancestors became enemies and that the loyal subjects and patriots who served this country became enemies, you must forgive them with a large heart. And when you go to the established churches, you must pray for them with tears.
Where one goes with a heart of peace, peace begins; where one wishes to give a heart of sincerity, sincerity sprouts forth. If one does this, something comes to be accomplished amid the silence.
The original nature of a person moves in one direction.
If a person moves only according to his original nature, God will cooperate, and because the heavenly order accompanies good movement, everything comes to be accomplished automatically.
The Importance of Recognizing the Value of the Path One Walks
Setting the four-year course before you, you must consider with what kind of heart you will go forward in the stead of these people.
With what heart would Abraham have offered his sacrifice?
With what heart would Jacob have offered his sacrifice?
With what heart would Moses have gone when he went to the court of Pharaoh? And with what heart would Jesus have gone up when he went up to the garden of Gethsemane?
You must understand that heart.
If I, having squarely received the responsibility for the whole and the command from God, feel the responsibility to carry out that command and command you to fulfill such-and-such a responsibility for the sake of Daegu, and yet no band carries it out, how great would that loneliness be?
You must realize that Jesus held the heart of wishing to unify heaven and earth, lay a foundation of victory there, and command all nations; and that, although God too wished that day to come quickly, when Jesus came to be unable to stand in such a position, God came to hold a grief and a suffering that deep.
With what heart have you been fighting for the Will up to now?
You must know whether all that I have fought for God up to now is recognized as something that can be in accord with God’s history, with the flow of heart by which God operates, and with the direction of that heart, or is recognized as something contrary to it. And you must consider whether you have the confidence and conviction that you can be a certain way in the future.
When you finish this Daegu assembly, you will return home. In a few days, you will return. Through activities such as those you have carried out this time in Daegu, we must henceforth restore the established churches.
Just as Jesus commanded his disciples to go for the sake of Israel, now, upon the foundation we have laid up to now, we must restore the national-level Cain and the internal Cain. We have such a responsibility.
If we know the flow before they do and come to stand on the course of that flow, restoration takes place automatically.
I hope you realize that you are the ones who stand in the stead of the heart with which God came to seek. The Teacher, too, is in the position of going to seek God, so he must receive God’s heart; and since he has taken on a share of God’s responsibility, he must receive God’s heart to be able to fulfill that responsibility.
I must walk a path on which I can say,
“I go as the substance of the Father’s desire, the substance of the desire of our ancestors; so, O Father, O ancestors of history, accompany me!”
When you go to seek while feeling such a heart, that place shines all the more.
The more you grieve, the greater, in inverse proportion, is God’s grace. This phenomenon of inverse proportion comes to appear wherever you go.
When you shed tears, those tears can stand in the stead of the tears of the people, and when you stand in that place, you can stand in the stead of the repentance of the people.
What the Teacher wishes is for you to become such people. Such bands absolutely do not perish. The question, however, is how tenaciously you endure and go forward.
You must go to seek, saying without a word, “I go forward through a historical course that has failed to seek and establish the one day of the resolution of han, which is God’s desire—so what more could I wish for!
The deeper the valley of darkness, the deeper a valley I will go into.” And so God must be able to sympathize, saying, “Now then, go a little more slowly,” and the ancestors must be able to urge us on, saying, “Go well,” and the spiritual world must be able to guarantee us. How holy a step that is!
Let Us Go by the Path God Protects
What the Teacher is now anxious about is fulfilling the responsibility the Teacher must fulfill in this three-year course. There were many times when I stood in an indescribably wretched place, in a position with neither friend nor comrade. Yet I sought to go anywhere together with God. For I am in communion with God.
At some point, we must cast off the body of flesh and go to the spiritual world. Therefore, we, who have been born into this world, must resolve upon death. And to establish the good self as a second self in the eternal world, we must undergo hardship.
Just as one is born a healthy and good baby only by receiving good prenatal nurture in the mother’s womb, life in this earthly world is the same as life in the womb.
This is why one must grow by emulating the image of God, emulating the heart of God, and emulating the holy divine nature of God. Having grown, one must in turn cross over, staking one’s life.
Only by standing in such a position is one established as one who has passed through the position of Abel, who offered a sacrifice; the position of Abraham, who wandered seeking a single place where he could offer a sacrifice; the forlorn position of Moses, who prepared to lead the Israelite people; and the position of Jesus, who walked a forlorn path for thirty years.
And so, rather than your guarding yourselves, God must be able to guard you. You must be able to stand in such a position. To achieve that, you must not merely receive. You must give.
The reason God established Jacob was to give to his people and to the people of later generations, and the reason He established Moses and Jesus was likewise not to receive but to give. It was to give something greater. With this same heart, you too must cast off falsehood and live truly. The one who does not do so naturally perishes. When the time comes, a person is, without fail, prepared. God prepares a person and then carries on the providence.
When you go forward in the stead of the heart of God, who came to give, God is with you behind you.
God called and established Noah, saying, “Noah, hurry and find a family”; He sought and established Abraham, saying, “Abraham, quickly, quickly find a family”; and even when He established Jacob, He said, “Hurry and form a people”; and to Moses He said, “Find the nation of Israel.” To Jesus, too, He said, “Find the nation of Israel, find the world, find heaven and earth.”
In this way, God wishes to give something greater.
Yet God opens the way for them to found Israel only upon the foundation on which they have established the indemnity condition by which they can found Israel.
If this world today has entered the worldwide age of restoration, if it has entered the cosmic age of restoration, then God has already set up the cosmic indemnity condition. God does not come to lay all the crosses upon His sons and daughters.
Because God has cleared everything away spiritually, the responsibility to do it substantially lies with human beings. Human beings must go together with God, following the foundation God has cleared away.
When that happens, God bequeaths the foundation of victory to human beings. It is an awe-inspiring thing.
When you carry out an activity, you come to know well what kind of time this is. From the position of standing in God’s stead, we must carry the family, the clan, and the people on our backs and go for the sake of the world.
From beginning to end, we must go by a path that God can guarantee. With this attitude of heart, you must work diligently during the remaining three-day period and then return. Do you understand what I mean? Scheming and contriving will not do.
When we carry out an activity in the world, we must always do it tenaciously. Hereafter, when we lay a foundation of national-level victory—when we set up all the national-level indemnity conditions, that is, when we lay a foundation of victory on this earth—such a foundation is automatically established in heaven as well. Such a time will come.
When the Republic of Korea takes responsibility, God will go forward to worldwide victory, centered on that national-level standard of victory.
The Teacher goes forward with such a heart.
Let us go forward enduring until that time. Jesus has endured for two thousand years up to now, and God has endured for six thousand years.
In the same way, we must go forward enduring until we establish a worldwide standard of victory. And so, once a worldwide standard is established, it is enough.
Therefore, I ask you to bear in mind that you must go forward by maturing your heart. Do you understand? Even when you pray, you must do so in that way.
The History of Restoration, Which Gathers from What Is Lowest
Each time the Teacher prayed for the Will, God was together with him, the angelic world was together with him, and the good ancestors (善祖) were together with him. In the same way, I tell you not to go alone. You must go together.
When you do, strength arises. Strength arises that can subdue every environment. Even so, you must not gather things up starting from what is high. You must gather starting from what is lowest. Only then is there no strain.
Since this is the history of the providence of restoration, you must gather by entering in this way from what is lowest. Having done so, you must afterward breathe life into them. With the heart of a parent, becoming the body of a servant and shedding blood, sweat, and tears, you must make it possible for them to come forth following us.
You have come forth in God’s stead up to now. For three years up to now, you have devoted sincerity for the sake of the people. The Teacher is no different, but up to now, the people have opposed the Unification Church.
Yet, holding a heart that loves the country, we must go about establishing our standing before heaven and earth, both in terms of character and in every other respect.
The conditions by which we can cross over to the world are now linked to us. Centered on one nation, we are in contact with the state at the national-level standard, and we are linked worldwide. Therefore, during this four-year course, we must cross over the state-level indemnity standard.
This is the path we walk. Viewed at the level of the church, we are walking such a vertical course of indemnity, but viewed at the level of you as individuals, a sphere of restoration through indemnity is unfolding horizontally, centered on you.
Because centered on the Unification Church, a new clan and people are being organized; you must pass through the individual, family, clan, and national course of indemnity at the horizontal standard.
You must realize that the activity of those who are carrying on activity from such a position today has a great influence upon horizontal restoration through indemnity.
Do you understand what I mean?
If someone surnamed Kim—if one person surnamed Kim joins in and carries on activity, and it crosses over from the national-level indemnity to the state-level indemnity standard, what will happen?
When that happens, then his ancestors, of course, and the people now living in this present world who hold a true heart will all somehow come to cooperate, following the fortune of heaven and earth. Still more, the spirit beings who have gone to the spiritual world cooperate actively.
For you yourselves, who stand in the position of bearing responsibility for restoration through indemnity, your good ancestors are in the same position as the angels of the angelic world.
Therefore, just as countless angels had to obey Adam before the Fall and establish the way of a loyal subject before him, you must realize that your good ancestors and the national-level loyal subjects and faithful wives are guarding you and moving about to establish the way of a loyal subject before you. This is why the response that appears in them differs according to the degree to which we move.
When you set out to fulfill a national-level responsibility, you must be able to proclaim.
You must say, “Centered on the Unification Church, in carrying out the national and state-level mission centered on a single individual and family whom God desires and wishes to use, I will graft myself, firm as iron and stone, onto the fortune of the Unification Church. I am a branch of the Unification Church, stretching out normally, having received the fortune of the Unification Church.
Therefore, the Word of the Unification Church is my word, the character of the Unification Church is my character, and the heart of the Unification Church is likewise my heart.”
When you do that, then wherever you may go, you will develop just like the Unification Church.
If you set up such a standard and keep step with the Unification Church, the good spirits and ancestors in the spiritual world who move according to the national-level fortune will work for you.
When You Become a Branch of Victory
To outward appearance, your faces look flat, and your ears look sunken in, so that you look ill-favored; but in the spiritual world, they regard you as children of blessing.
Still more, the ancestors within the realm of ten generations are holding their breath in suspense. This is because the history of restoration is centered on ten generations.
Yet if an evil descendant appears, the ancestors within the realm of ten generations pass judgment, saying, “You wretch! You are about to ruin us.”
This is why, if there is a descendant here who has good ancestors, the ancestors cooperate actively. You stand in such a position.
When you, who are in such a position, fight gladly and splendidly and build a record of victory in every battle wherever you go, the spiritual world rejoices forever and ever.
If you become such people, even a petty spirit, on coming out, will recoil in astonishment. That is how it is. This is why such ancestors will attend you as one attends His Majesty the King. You must feel this.
Today, before God’s Will, we must lay a foundation of victory with a heart that says, “Shall I defile God’s tradition? Shall I defile God’s dignity?” You must pray over what kind of tradition you will establish. Now is a blessed time.
When we examine the history of restoration centered on the Israelite people, we can see that Jesus could not have appeared in that age except for the forefathers who faced the Will through a good bond as the forefathers of faith and the loyal subjects who rendered full devotion before God. In this way, the ancestors first cleared away that foundation.
In the same way, in the history of restoration today, because the Unification Church has come forth in Korea centered on the Will, the age has come in which the vertical history can be indemnified and unfolded horizontally. This is why, if you achieve oneness of heart, oneness of character, and oneness of the Word before the Will, you can unfold the vertical history horizontally.
Do you understand this relationship?
In olden times, in Jesus’ day, just as the good ancestors who preceded him could pass from the form-spirit level of the spiritual world into the life-spirit level of the spiritual world by virtue of Jesus’ coming to the earth, your ancestors too have entered into a special sphere of benefit by which, taking you on the earth as their condition, they can return.
Do you understand what I mean?
If you know this Will and become a branch of victory, then, because you are in a position where you can form a single life-body, your ancestors cooperate with you. In this way, you must become the ground upon which several thousand generations of good ancestors can return.
In Jesus’ day, it was an age in which the spiritual world cooperated conditionally for the sake of life-spirit-level resurrection, but now it is an age in which the spiritual world cooperates unconditionally for the sake of life-spirit-level resurrection. Because such an age has come, there is no blessing greater than this. Do you understand what I mean? To say it again, the spiritual world cooperates.
This is why, from now on, the work of seeking the clan will go faster. Because the historical bond is in place, because the conditions for cooperation are in place, it goes faster.
The Unification Church must fight to gather the religions that have split apart and to resolve the strife among denominations. Currently, all the religions are fighting one another, and Christianity is fighting.
This is why you must fight your whole life long to make the divided denominations one, and you must fight for the sake of these people. We must meet a united people and nation.
The Messiah Is the Ancestor of the Word, the Ancestor of Character, the Ancestor of Heart
The Teacher dislikes a person who goes about alone. When I observe you quietly, you go about as you please, saying all sorts of outlandish things—that will not do.
How holy it would be if we did work on the earth that could give rise to resurrection through the returning of spirits!
If among your ancestors there are loyal subjects, or faithful wives, or filial sons, then when you call them in prayer, they are bound to come. This is because now the ancestors must cooperate with you. That is how it is. The order has been turned upside down.
If a band that is climbing in one direction is made to climb in another direction, the person who stood at the very last becomes the very first. When one climbs this way, then when coming down too, the person who stood at the very last comes down the very first.
Up to now Satan has gone ahead, but if, as I have just said, the direction is changed, Satan becomes last and we come to stand at the very front.
We must, in one generation, indemnify the fact that Satan has climbed ahead, equipping ourselves with God’s heart, and then cross over with a fresh start. The one who represents this very work is the Messiah. Therefore, the Messiah is the ancestor of the Word, the ancestor of character, and the ancestor of the heart.
From now on, when you pray, you must not pray for your own sake. Do not go off alone to God, jingling along, and pray such a trifling prayer as, “Ah, Father, I have come. Give me a blessing.
Since I am forlorn and hungry now, do such-and-such for me.” You must pray, “I have come to this place to resolve the Father’s han, so teach me the way to do it.” If you pray this way, will He not answer?
If you merely put forward the conditions by which you can do good work, you are bound to pass through without trouble. Do you understand?
The Ancestors Are Judged by Their Descendants
Where did the Commercial Bank basketball team go this time?
They went to Peru, did they not? There they fought the Argentine team and won, eighty-seven to fifty-something, did they not?
How glad must the Korean compatriots there have been?
They avenged the slights they had suffered up to then as foreigners. They could speak up boldly for once. It is the same when seen in terms of the Will. The same is true of your ancestors. When you win, setting before you all the things of the providence of restoration, they will dance, saying, “Ah, our descendants have fought and won!”
You must realize that you now stand in the position of having your ancestors judged. Do you understand what I mean? Your ancestors are bound to be judged by you. When God judges, He judges both heaven and earth. This is why you must not grumble carelessly out of your discontent.
However deathly the hardship you undergo, from a position of responsibility, you cannot complain.
The sin of the ancestors is indemnified only if a good descendant is established without fail. A good descendant must be established and must cooperate with them.
Then the ancestors of each denomination, each clan, and each family will have their faults as well—so how shall those faults be indemnified?
With what must they be indemnified? With an offering, it must be done. One must place an offering on the altar of Abel that can be offered before God and indemnify them.
Our Unification Church is the altar of Abel. We are now suffering to set up the altar of Abel and go forward. Though it is the altar of Abel, we must suffer to be offered up as an offering on the altar of Cain. To suffer in this way is the path of indemnifying all the sins of one’s own ancestors. This is why the altar equipped with the ideal of Abel goes forward through a process of suffering to find the environment in which it can be offered before Heaven. It is precisely because such a period is needed that words like “seven years” or “three years” come forth. Do you understand what I mean?
This is why, if you say you dislike walking this path, you betray history; you become a traitor to history. When that happens, your ancestors will pass judgment, saying, “You have blocked the road ahead of us and demolished, root and branch, the merit we toiled to build up.”
When Jesus was going into Jerusalem, he saw a fig tree on the rise and sent his disciples to seek fruit, and when there was no fruit, he cursed that tree, did he not? Even though it was like the other trees, because it had no fruit, he cursed it. This fruitless tree was a parable of the saints of the Last Days.
God will judge the ancestors of the past in the Last Days. Yet God wishes that the descendants set up an indemnity condition. This is why He is holding judgment in abeyance.
Then, when will He judge?
He intends to judge after descendants who give priority to truth stand upon a foundation of victory and set up the condition by which those ancestors can be moved into a good position.
This is why you must first carry out individual indemnity. Only after you have done the individual indemnity can you join in the family, clan, or national indemnity.
Do you understand what I mean?
Only by indemnifying every content at the individual standard can you be of help to God, who intends to indemnify at the family level, and of help to God, who intends to indemnify at the clan level. It will not do to fail even at individual indemnity.
Do you understand?
This is why I tell you to suffer. Hereafter, all who come into the Unification Church, I will make suffer entirely. Would that be love, or would it be ruining them?
Suffering and Indemnity
When I look at your eyes, it seems the measure of suffering is not yet full. Such people must suffer more. The Teacher will drive them onto the road of suffering.
What others help one with will not do; you must indemnify through your suffering.
So too, the Israelite people came forth indemnifying their historical sorrow through suffering. It is because the whole historical condition accumulated over six thousand years has not yet been removed that the Unification Church and the Teacher have come forth today. The Teacher does this work because of God.
What is connected with ancestors with whom one has a bond of lineage must be indemnified by the descendant.
Otherwise, who will repay it in their stead? Who will repay the sin the ancestors committed? So the children who are descendants must indemnify it.
To indemnify it, on the individual level, one must, centered on the altar of Abel, set up the altar of Cain and offer the sacrifice together with Cain.
One must equip oneself with such a posture of preparation. This is why there is the seven-year course. Do you understand?
While walking the seven-year course, one must set up the altar of Abel and go about building the national-level altar. This is why one must go forward in absolute obedience.
Not only at an assembly like this, but whenever there is a gathering at which the Teacher and the central members all come together, the ancestors clamor that they are not being allowed to join in and earnestly appeal to be allowed to join. They appeal, asking why, when their grandchildren and sons and daughters attend the Unification Church, they themselves are not allowed to join. Not being allowed to join becomes to them an immeasurable han.
Up to now, you have not known this. By holding such assemblies again and again, the period for indemnifying the sins your ancestors committed is shortened by hundreds and thousands of years.
Among your ancestors, there are all sorts of people. When a descendant who does not have good ancestors renders full devotion and produces results, God watches that person especially.
You must realize that this is a splendid period. Do you understand? Those who understand, raise your hands.
Hereafter, even if you wish to attend something like this, you will not be able to. Such a time will come. Because the Teacher knows this, he tells you to suffer.
However sick of that suffering you may be, you must absolutely not be pitied. For if you are pitied, it does not become something you yourself have done.
The Teacher has already done all that he is to do for you. So you must absolutely not be pitied. Rather, of the three meals you eat in a day, you must eat only two and give one to another. You must do this.
What would take ten years of suffering, you must do all at once within ten months. The intent is to indemnify, within this period, all the historical sins of the ancestors up to now. However much you suffer, you must not fall away from the path of the Will. You must not die but survive.
The suffering you have undergone up to now becomes, by the principle of indemnity, the laying of the greatest foundation of merit by which returning resurrection can take place. You must realize this.
When that happens, the ancestors in the spiritual world can form bonds with the many people on earth, can form relationships with the earthly environment, and can, upon that foundation, create a reciprocal standard and return.
This is why you must now carry out national-level indemnity. How glad your ancestors would be if you fulfilled your mission!
If you cannot walk this course of indemnity, you will be unable to lift your head before God when you go to the spiritual world.
What will become of you if you live thinking of your body only as the body of a single individual? You must realize that the ancestors come to stamp their feet and lament.
Now we must indemnify the individual and clan-level matters and then go forward into the realm of national-level fortune. Now is the time when the Teacher is leading you into a special sphere of benefit.
So these days I pray in this way: “Since there is such a principle of indemnity, O Father, permit that the ancestors may gain merit through all the tears and sweat shed up to now.”
Indemnity Is Something Done of One’s Own Accord
The Teacher foresees that a time will come hereafter when much can be shown. It is bound to be so. By now, you will have come to know well whether attending an assembly like this is a blessing or not.
This is why you must quickly indemnify everything, centered on the individual and the clan. Even if you compress six thousand years and have to die a hundred times and wake again, you must indemnify it.
If you cannot do it in a day, you must do it even if it takes ten years or a hundred years. This is why I tell you not to resent anyone. Those among the Unification Church members who suffer must not be pitied.
Even if one is pitied and goes into an environment where one need not suffer, one comes to suffer wretchedly again. That is because one was born of poor ancestors.
Even if a person who does not suffer is handled harshly every day to make him suffer, the person who was born that way grows a paunch. Why is that so? It is because the ground on which the spiritual world can cooperate has not been prepared. If you were to go to the spiritual world right now as you are, it would be a calamity.
Whatever difficulty arises on the earth, you must resolve that difficulty. So must you move, or must you not?
When we consider that we go forward through a history of indemnity, this path is not a path one walks because someone says “walk” or refrains from walking because someone says “do not walk.”
If one does not walk that path, it is the one who does not walk who perishes; it is not the Teacher and the Unification Church that perish.
If you do not go, then, because we are now entering the worldwide age, I will call people from the world and have them go. Currently, a great worldwide fortune is sweeping toward Korea.
Who are you? You say you are sons of God?
Are you really the sons of God?
Look at your mouths and noses. Look closely. Is this a son of God? Son indeed! You are just the same as the people of the world.
Even a person who believes well in the Unification Church is hardly better than the people of the world. Yet if you come to be properly qualified, you are better than the Pacific Ocean.
You must become sons who cannot be exchanged even for heaven and earth. But that does not just happen of itself. There must be some working of heaven and earth, some overturning of heaven and earth, some event. This is why the Teacher is now seeking to bring about a great work upon heaven and earth, centered on your clan.
If a grandson comes to do what a grandfather could not do, where is there a greater overturning of heaven and earth than that?
If a forefather many generations back (代祖) comes instead to call his descendant many generations down “grandfather,” where is there a greater overturning of heaven and earth than this? Now such a thing will come to pass.
This is why I tell you absolutely not to think you are going along on a level plane from an individual position. You must gladly receive the suffering you undergo and cross over.
If you gladly receive your suffering, your ancestors come to be liberated. This is why you must know how to receive any suffering gladly. Those who, walking this path, win out at the end of their suffering can liberate countless ancestors.
Let Us Indemnify as Soon as Possible
You will be able to live the life of a farmer no less than anyone else. You will accomplish the work of building up merit for the country as well.
We must, by passing through such a process, become a Unification Church that carries out national-level indemnity. Devoting all our sincerity, let us take responsibility for national-level indemnity and the national-level han. Let us be the first to take the blows, the first to take the curses, the first to suffer.
In the next four years, all those in the administrative agencies as well will have to decide whether to believe in the Unification Church. From now on, we must lead democracy centered on the people of conscience.
You must realize that now is the time when we must establish the path of right faith and pass through the process of restoration through indemnity.
Hereafter, our Unification Church members must go to the countless peoples on the course of worldwide indemnity, begin from the life of a servant, and lead them to believe in God.
Those who attend God must do this. Having first known God’s noble Will, those in the position of the ancestors of humankind suffered first; so you must, having implanted in them the recognition that they should emulate this solemn tradition, return.
And so, when all of them come to look up to us, then even if you eat a hundred head of cattle every day, they will tell you to hurry and eat more; and even if you change a thousand times a day into clothes you could not wear once in sixty years of life, they will tell you to hurry and change again. When that time comes, the resolution of han (해원성사) will be brought to consummation.
Currently, you look shrunken, shabby, and clad in poor clothes, but if you are equipped with everything and possess solidity within and without, you look beautiful. Beauty at that time is the highest beauty, which cannot be exchanged even for all of heaven and earth and the cosmos. It is so even to the eye of the Teacher; how much more so when God sees it.
If you are equipped with such qualities, all the things of heaven and earth dwell within you. When one looks at your eyes, the sorrow of heaven and earth is in those eyes; and wherever one looks, at hand or foot, there is something that represents heaven and earth. The Teacher’s will is to make such a masterpiece.
When the Teacher was young like you, he went about wearing cheap clothes that others had worn and thrown away, bought from a junk shop. He went about in clothes that reeked so that young women could not follow him. He went about in clothes such that anyone nearby would flee to get away. A man of the Unification Church must be unkempt. He must know how to hold his head high even with a hole in his sock.
Just as a great mountain has all manner of trees and is home to birds of five colors and to animals, you too must have something within you in which all things can make their home.
Only then is the posture of your whole being equipped and made to appear as a single beauty.
One is not beautiful. One is well-dressed, not beautiful because one is well turned out. You must become a self that becomes the talk and the interest of heaven and earth, whom all can envy.
If you become such a being, what a masterpiece that is! Is it not so? I intend to start a new fashion among the members of our Unification Church.
What is thought beautiful to look upon forever is the original beauty. We must become a world that flows like flowing water, keeping the true rhythm of harmony together with heaven and earth, together with heaven and earth. What this one man here wishes is that we indemnify quickly.
You have gathered here, this far, and are exerting yourselves in this way to overcome the satanic world. As Heaven’s elite soldiers to conquer the satanic world, as Heaven’s warriors, you are toiling for the sake of this Will for the first time in history.
Walk the Four-Year Course with the Heart of a Fresh Start
When God dances, by my dancing along too, heaven and earth must be able to burst into laughter and have their spirits lifted.
Since the matter of dancing has come up—these days, when people are told to dance, they dance writhing and twisting, do they not? This is entirely the doing of Satan.
What is it that twists like a taffy stick?
A snake, is it not? This is why this present age stands in the final position of bordering on the satanic world. Now we must tell the people who dance that way to stop and rest at ease.
You must work your way through the course of indemnity. Since there remains a path of destiny on which you must walk the course of indemnity—from individual indemnity to national-level indemnity and state-level indemnity—you must walk it as quickly as possible.
For the next four years, I will make you suffer a little more. To go straight by this path is the path of receiving the highest blessing. The Teacher has realized this fact. I mean that I know this.
Had I not become the Teacher of the Unification Church, I would not be doing this work. But since I have come to know the Will, I intend to restore everything. I am setting up a standard and working diligently. Yet when I eat, I eat until my belly bulges. Do you know what I do when I get hungry?
Do you know what I do when I suffer?
I suffer to the point that Grandfather Hardship praises me—to the point that Grandfather Hardship attaches a tag, saying, “You have now done all the hardship you need to do,” and sends me off.
Originally, one ought to come to the Unification Church only after suffering like this. So you must indemnify quickly, quickly. The Teacher makes you suffer because he loves you. It is because, without making you suffer, he cannot give you a blessing.
If you would walk this path, you must equip yourselves with true faith and become offerings. How much you indemnify depends on your resolve, your activity, and your conduct.
So you must realize that each of you must become a being of value. When you do, you can become sons and daughters of God. Therefore, in this period, a fight must break out at the gate over who will go out first.
If you are going to fight at all, you must fight with a great person. You must say, “I must be the first to build the highest record of achievement.” With such boldness, you must hereafter cross over the four-year course vigorously for the sake of the return to one’s hometown (還故鄕)—that is, hometown restoration.
On this occasion, you must go forward with the strength to make a fresh start. I, too, will go. This very thing is the Teacher’s wish for you. If you do not rise again on this occasion, the Teacher will come to part from you.
In this period when the Teacher moves together with you, you must rise again and call forth that response and inspiration of heart you felt long ago when you first came to know the Will, received grace, and resolved.
Without that, you cannot walk the four-year course to the end. Knowing this, you must certainly take part in this path of suffering and run toward the path you must walk.
