Former Headquarters Church, Korea
You have gathered to celebrate Parents’ Day. Until now, countless people have come across the course of their daily lives. Those days have a past, a present, and a future centered upon this one day called today. We have lived on within continuous days—that is, within the realm of time.
The Meaning of Parents’ Day and the Background of Its Establishment
The first day of the third month, which we in the Unification Church today have established as Parents’ Day, is—among countless days—the most precious day of all that human life has longed for, if there be a most precious one. It is the most important Parents’ Day, than which there is no day more precious.
Upon this earth, countless people have lived and passed away, and others live even now; yet though they lived attending the parents who gave them birth, they could not establish a Parents’ Day and celebrate it.
Moreover, the parents whom they have called “parents” until now, when seen within the Will of the Providence today, could not become parents in whom heaven could rejoice, nor parents whom the earth could celebrate.
Then the children born of such parents are likewise children who cannot have a Parents’ Day in relation to their parents; and the parents, too, could not, by raising their children and establishing a Children’s Day, treat them as beloved children in a place of communion; thus they have lived until now within such a sorrowful realm of relationship.
Therefore, when parents look upon their children, sorrow is entangled here, and when children look upon their parents, sorrow has likewise been woven between the child and the parent.
Then, although it ought originally to have been a human bond, centered upon the bond of parent and child, in which there were none of these conditions of pain—sorrow or sighing in the relating of parent to parent and child to child—that we came to have such a bond instead is the retribution of the fall.
This retribution of the fall, on the foundation of the parent–child bond, was connected as the bond of brothers; and centered upon the bond of brothers, it spread to relatives, and this has unfolded today even to the whole of the world’s humanity.
And so there is sorrow, or anxiety lies before humanity, or pain lies before humanity, and further still, death has covered the whole world.
If we acknowledge this, then as for where it set out from—because, from the very day we were born, from the historic departure, it bore such a motive and content, for us who were born bearing the bond of that result, we can by no means escape the bond of a sorrowful history, cannot escape a history of pain, and cannot escape a history of lamentation.
For this reason, each of us today, who live in such a world of lamentation, such a world of sorrow, such a world of pain, must, of course, remove the sorrow among our kin and must remove the sorrowful bond between brothers, and if there be sorrow and pain between husband and wife within one family, there is need to remove that as well; but the greatest problem is that we live in such a sinful world in which, in the relationship of parent and child, sorrow dwells and pain can dwell.
As long as one knows this fact, how to break down this wall of sorrow that hangs within the realm of the parent–child bond—this is the grave standard for which humanity today must undergo suffering, and at once the missional, grave standard that heaven must set up in the human world; and at the same time, the more one is a child with a conscientious mind that today pursues the True, the more it has become the longing of anyone’s heart that there be no such wall in the heart with which one relates to one’s parents.
For this reason, rather than tearing down the outward wall that has appeared, unless one now sets up, in the parent–child relationship—in the relationship with the children formed centered upon the noun “parents”—the “bond of a single day that can completely remove sorrow, that can completely transcend pain, and that can be set forth before all the world as the foundation of perfect happiness,” the sorrowful standard upon this earth today can by no means be fundamentally removed.
The Purpose of the Providence of Restoration
So, toward what did the standard of the Providence of Restoration concentrate everything as it came forth?
It came forth centered upon this: true parents, true children. The pain, too, was to settle this; the sorrow, too, was to settle this; the struggle, too, was to settle this.
We must remember all the more at this hour the fact that, while setting up such a Will of the Providence, our countless forebears who faced heaven and the Will of heaven, who faced the Will of the Providence, struggled and fought on.
Indeed, true parents whom heaven publicly acknowledges, whom the earth publicly acknowledges, whom the Creator publicly acknowledges, and whom all people can publicly acknowledge—when one faces such true parents, the true love that flows from those parents, and the true children who can be embraced in that true love—that this has not been achieved is the sorrow of God; that this is not possessed is the sorrow of human life; that such a place was not prepared is the sorrow of the parent, and while such a place is not possessed is the sorrow of the child. This sorrow has come down over a lineal history through a historic bond.
Therefore, the foundation of that sorrow lies entwined within the parent–child bond. Because such a bond was formed and came down from this deep place, to remove it, heaven has waged a fierce struggle until now.
Then what was God’s desire at the time He created Adam and Eve?
If there are true parents, there must be true children; and when there are true parents and true children, there only true love must dwell; and in the parent–child bond centered upon true love, through the true bond only true goodness must dwell; and as true love and goodness dwell, at the same time it was God’s original desire at the time of creation to behold a true environment, a true universe, a true Cosmos, and further, a position that can stand upon such a true standard.
Yet because Adam and Eve, who ought to have fulfilled responsibility from the position of parents and at the same time fulfilled responsibility from the position of children, failed to fulfill responsibility, we today must know to the marrow of our bones the fact that the whole desire God awaited as the ideal of creation was here thwarted.
Then, from where comes our sorrow?
From Adam and Eve. Our sorrow has been woven through our successive forebears, and it is the mission of the individual that our single self today must remove and liquidate the sorrow thus woven.
We must know that this has become the purpose that heaven pursues before the saints of the Last Days.
Then, from where must you remove this?
Of course, having set up the bond in myself, one must here set up the standard of true parents. Centered upon the bond called parent and child, the heart that had been divided must be connected again to the heart of the original, created nature so that one can say, “This is my true parent, and this is my true son.”
This, however great the pain of any world or anything may be, cannot be cut off by pain; however great the sorrow, this bond cannot be cut off; however great the agony of death, this cannot be cut away.
Only when such a moment appears upon the earth, in which this parent–child heart can be reconnected, can this be settled and can this be removed.
We Must Know the Heart of Jesus, Who Left Behind Han as the Son of God
And when God sent His beloved Son upon this earth, as for whether the Father, in sending the Son, could say, “I have truly stood in the position of a parent who loves you”—He could not so stand.
When God sent Jesus, the only begotten Son, upon this earth, He said, “You are the Son among My sons and the only begotten among My only begotten”; but did He indeed embrace him and set him in a position to say, “I love you”? He could not set him.
The parental bond, which was formed at the beginning and centered upon Adam and Eve, was connected and unfolded onto a worldwide stage. For this reason, the name “parents,” upon the vertical course of history, has a difference of era; yet in that noun, the actualities of the present that stand in the place of the history of bygone days are spread across the globe.
For that reason, the noun “parents” is not limited to Adam and Eve but extends to the parents who have many children across the whole world.
For that reason, it cannot but be set up upon a worldwide stage. Because this is the central mission that heaven must resolve, Jesus was set up as the worldwide Messiah.
Thus, Jesus appeared standing in the place of the names of all the children, representing the first-chosen, chosen people; and going further, he appeared standing in the place of all the children of the whole of the world’s humanity—whether believer or unbeliever, of faith or no faith, of all who are spread upon this earth—and standing in the place of this world.
Only after removing all the lamentation within the realm of lamentation and after making an environment in which this lamentation cannot pass over before Jesus’ path could God, for the first time, set up the bond by which He could be called Father, or parent, of the original world’s ideal of creation, and could be called child.
Without that, He cannot stand in a position to instruct, cutting out some one-time apart and saying especially, “I am your Father, and you are the son I love, so I am your Father.” God ought to have loved him as the only begotten Son, but He set him in the position of an only begotten Son who could not be loved, and he had to fulfill responsibility, standing in the place of all people, before the countless children of unbelief, before the unrighteous parents, and to remove this bundle of bitter resentment entangled there.
Only after removing the bundle of lamentation and sorrow could there be. We must know that Jesus had to remove entirely all that was entangled before human beings—the entangled bond of bitter resentment between parent and child—and that if that bitter sorrow remained before Jesus as a condition of lamentation, he could not be called a true son or could not be called a true father.
For this reason, when he came to this earth, Jesus, who ought truly to have called out “Father, beloved Father!” and called upon the Father, was in a position where he could not call.
It was Jesus’ wish to give all his loyalty, all his filial piety, to pour out all the devotion he had, and to attend the Father just once, to embrace the Father and be able to say “My Father!” and for the Father to be able to say “My son!” — to have such a time.
Yet because the han of the fall was thus entangled, centered upon the parental bond and the historic worldview, Jesus the Messiah, who bore the responsibility to remove this, could not call the Father “Father” from the platform, however much he wished. We must know that Jesus was thus full of han.
This one, when he came to this earth, was not born as a victorious prince of Israel, nor did he appear in an environment in which the multitudes, cheering, could attend him as a prince of joy. He appeared as a prince of sorrow; the road this one walked was a road of a course of pain; and where this one went, he only met and collided with the wall of death.
Who among the people of that time could have known the circumstances of this Messiah?
You must know how sorrowful was the heart of God, who looked upon this circumstance—Jesus too being sorrowful—and who could not but send him on such a road.
When today we commemorate Parents’ Day and, as children, come to face our Parents, we must know that before the heart of Jesus, standing in such a position—wishing to face the Father and call him “Father,” and, anxious that the Father would suffer when he himself walked such a road, wishing even in death to lighten the Father’s anxiety, and saying in agony, “Though I die, let it be not as I will, but as the Father wills, as the Father wills…” — there hung an infinite sorrow. We must know that there was infinite pain and sorrow. We must know that there was a pain greater than the infinite pain of death.
We must know that Jesus came to this earth and faced such Parents, wishing to celebrate them, wishing to attend to them, wishing to be filial before his Parents, but because he could not, upon the earth, pave and pass on the road of filial piety before his Parents upon a victorious foundation, Jesus came and went, yet no Parents’ Day could arise.
We Must Know the Gratitude of Being Able to Welcome Parents’ Day
Then what kind of day is the Parents’ Day we commemorate today, centered upon our Unification Church?
These parents of all people, the parents of countless humanity who are within the realm of pain, must settle this whole, snatch it all back, and in the heavenly, missional field, cut off all the nets of the enemy entangling people upon people, and break down all the historic things that have until now historically trampled upon the history of the Israel of the Providence. And so one must pave the foundation on which one can attend the Parents as an individual who can represent countless children; must pave the foundation on which one can attend the Parents as a family; must pave the foundation on which one can attend the Parents as a tribe; and as a people, and further still must connect such a heartistic foundation that paves the road on which the world, heaven, and earth can attend them as Parents; and in the matter of circumstance, must, struggling with such content of circumstance at stake, set up a victorious standard before the satanic world—otherwise Parents’ Day cannot arise. You must know this.
In this astonishing Parents’ Day, here hangs a blood-soaked historic han, here remains the pain of the sorrowful Messiah, and here is barred the wall of the cross.
Only when the Father reaches out His hand across this wall can He take hold of the child’s hand, and only when the child climbs over this wall can he take hold of the Father’s hand—such a hand-laden history remains; and you must know that it is to tear down this wall that heaven’s history of struggle has been waged until now.
Even though heaven today should come to us and call out, “Hey, So-and-so, So-and-so!” — You are deaf. Even though it appears here before our eyes and, making all manner of gestures, tells me to look and beckons to us with whatever sign, your eyes are covered. Though you have heart or mind, however much that mind is shaken, I was one whose mind could not find its direction.
My sensibility is dull, and I am a wanderer who has, of himself, lost the road to seek. These human beings are in the plight of a wandering orphan or a vagrant.
How greatly heaven labored to take hold of such a me, how greatly it labored to open my eyes, how greatly it labored to open my ears and to open my feelings—that is the point.
You, the members of the Unification Church today, have come to this place; you must know how greatly heaven labored to make even a place where it could take up “me” and have me understand.
Standing in such a place—able to hear what one did not know how to hear, able to see what one did not know how to see, knowing how to feel what one did not know how to feel—that we are shown even this environment, in which we can yearn after the heart of that One who is the true Parent whom we can attend, and bow our heads and shed tears in that place, will not be han for you. In a certain respect, this is infinitely happy.
Not that it is merely shown to you—but how glorious, how proud, how astonishing a thing it is that, as a band who can welcome and celebrate such a day, you can attend such a solemn ceremony before heaven; when it comes to whether you have felt this in your mind until now, until you came to attend here, you must give your answer here.
In such an environment, you know. Now, how things are with the circumstance of our God, how things are with the heart of God, how things are, in this way and that, with the desire of God, and how this world flows on… This is what at last comes to collide with us.
Centered upon what does it collide?
Centered upon what does it collide? You are sons, and heaven is surely the Father. Yet sons and the Father are in a plight where they cannot unite with each other, and some Parents connected this and let us be born again—those parents are the True Parents.
To connect this parent and child who have been divided until now, heaven has, through trial and pain, struggled at the forefront first and brought things to order. History has passed through such a form, but centered upon God and centered upon the way of the parents’ heart, from Adam until coming up to this standard, heaven walked a roundabout road of a history of struggle.
This, as a symbol of pain, the greater it was, by that much, has passed through history as a corresponding symbol of pain.
The Lord at the Second Advent, Who Must Settle the History of Suffering
What is it that will remain at the last?
Because heaven desires that this standard of heart be re-manifested, there remains the condition that the Lord who comes to fulfill this desire must pass through historic suffering. For this reason, he is told to make himself one who can become the parent of the most sorrowful.
When there is one who can become such a Messiah—sent upon this earth and able to become a son before heaven, bearing such responsibility—heaven foretells to him, “Step forth into the position of a parent who can taste historic suffering.”
“Become a parent who can embrace and love the people who can taste sorrow—sorrow on a worldwide, historic scale. Because many among humankind live bearing within them all the conditions of the realm of suffering’s symbol, you must, on the foundation of the heart, standing in the place of all that humanity, become their father and their parent. Have such a heart.”
You must know that this is the important content that the Messiah, who is to come in the Last Days, receives as a command and a charge from heaven.
Then, from the moment he knows the Will, he must go out to seek the position of the sorrowful parent; he must become one who knows how to take hold of the sorrowful and wail; and when he looks upon those who suffer, he must know how to wail. That wailing is not the wailing of an individual but a historic wailing, a historic sorrow.
Within this wailing, the wailing of heaven is joined. He cannot but pass through a course of struggle in which, toward those suffering sons and daughters, with weeping that can remove their suffering, he embraces them and connects with them. History has paved such a road until now.
The Lord who comes must, on the foundation of this road, strike directly against it, establish heaven’s heart upon it, set up this ground as a foundation that no one in the satanic world can trample or exploit, and connect this from the individual up to the family, tribe, and national standards, and even to the standard of the Cosmos.
We must know that it is the mission of the coming Messiah to fight on this battlefield without falling and to win the victory.
When he appears, he is an individual, yet he is not merely an individual. One who takes hold of him takes hold of historic sorrow; one who fights together with him participates in the historic struggle; and one who stands in the position of acting together with him, however insignificant he may be…
When one acts together with that parent—who fights, centered upon the worthy content of one appearing as a parent, in the whole missional field through which this one fights his way—there he comes to form the bond of a child.
If only such a bond is formed—that he can shed tears for me and call me his son, and that I, weeping, can call him parent—then for the first time the parent–child bond, which has been connected vertically, can pave a horizontal standard and be connected upon this earth.
The Position of the Children Who Have Come to Welcome Parents’ Day
Therefore, you must know that within this Parents’ Day today, suffering dwells; you must know that within this day infinite sorrow dwells; and you must know that, upon the course of history, there is a heaven that has struggled to pave this road in greater suffering and greater sorrow than any patriot who loved a certain people, or any great martyr who struggled for the sake of some ideology—and unless you remember this, you have no qualification to attend Parents’ Day.
When could you ever stand in a position to call with your mouth “Parents’ Day,” to call out “Parents”? It is utterly impossible. Yet heaven, passing through such a course of history, through a course of labor, agonized without limit to raise even one Teacher, the Teacher of today’s Unification Church.
Man is weak. It is man who grows weary along the way. It is man who, along the way, can come to think centered upon himself. Therefore, in raising the Teacher here, heaven took away all the close friends until now. It took away everyone with whom I could secretly confer.
Even within the family, those with whom I could share the same Will and communicate all my circumstances—these it took away.
Cutting off every road of trust and driving me onto this road, it caused me to pass through such trials, and even here, being able to remain without falling and without growing weary, I have come through until this day. Thus, three years ago, we were able to have this Parents’ Day. For you, this is an infinite blessing.
You must know that when you commemorate this thing called Parents’ Day, this is a fearful place that you cannot but attend with flesh and blood trembling.
What becomes of that place in which you can call out “Parents”?
As I said earlier, when the True Parents and true children come forth, establishing their heart, all the sorrow that had been knotted before heaven is dissolved.
Because parents have established the blood-tied bond by which they could give us birth, the inheritance of those parents—all the legacy that those parents possess—remains as the property of the children.
Every bond that the parents can gather is inherited by their children. The heaven that the parents loved is also inherited by their children. If the parents called God “Father,” their sons and daughters too can call Him “Father.”
For this reason, it is only by centering upon this parental bond that fallen man can come into a relationship with heaven. Therefore, you cannot but enter into the place of becoming one body with the heart of the parents.
To do so, you yourselves must do just as Jesus did in the living goal for which he came and fought. Even though you have met the True Parents, you must first become sons and daughters loved in the bosom of the True Parents.
Just as Jesus was God’s only begotten Son, the one beloved Son, and yet, when that Jesus stood forth before the Will—when he stood forth in the place of heaven’s Will—he could not be a Jesus beloved before God, so likewise, even though the environment has come about in which you can know and attend the True Parents, you must not be ones beloved in the bosom of the True Parents. That is not our purpose. To receive the love of the True Parents, you must embrace from the very far end and come inward, and so receive love. The principle is set up that way.
For Jesus to become a true son and daughter, he had to break open, before all people, the wall of bitter resentment knotted between parents and children, pave the road, and make it so that all people could walk it.
Only after that could he, embraced in the Father’s bosom, receive God’s love from the position of a child, from the position of a son.
If we knew that this was the mission Jesus had to carry out, then, likewise, even today, on Parents’ Day, the environment has come about in which you can know your Parents and attend to them; the bond is such that you cannot receive love before the knees of your Parents.
Yet because, within the historic realm of lamentation, the Parents in person labored and set up the standard of paving the parents’ road, you must have an environment in which you can meet them at any time on this level standard, not a vertical standard, that is, but on a horizontal standard.
Then, where lies the secret of becoming a filial son and a filial daughter?
Where lies the secret of becoming a filial son and daughter?
Jesus was the only begotten Son, and in himself, in his inner heart, he stood in the position of a filial son; but in the missional field, he could not stand as the standard of the filial son who can represent all people.
The Background Against Which Jesus Came to Suffer in the World
Therefore, the standard of the inner heart must be established, and this standard must be made to correspond with the standard of the outer substance. To make it correspond with this standard of the outer substance, the suffering of the enemy world must be removed.
For this reason, in sending Jesus upon this earth, He sent him at the very end of human life. This is the reason He sent him thus.
Thus, the greater the suffering and trial he undergoes, the more the agony of death strikes against his body.
When the True Parents, or God, look upon it, more than anyone, He can be indignant toward Satan, who presents suffering to that child, and toward the enemy who makes that child sorrowful. Here, the more God sets up such a standard against the enemy—which may be called the highest—the more, upon this earth (not the world of mind, not the vertical world), in the horizontal world, He can for the first time pave a standard on which He can love.
When Jesus enters the wretched environment of suffering and being framed before his enemies—when the wretchedness in relating to an individual amounts to a familial wretchedness greater than individual wretchedness—then that individual can be won back.
Do you understand what this means?
When Jesus undergoes suffering in a familial environment, and when the wretched state of Jesus’ suffering in that familial environment becomes greater than the wretched state that the family could undergo, then the family can be won back.
When we consider this principle: if heaven, raising a beloved Son, carries out the Providence of Restoration—if Jesus was raised to carry out the Providence of restoring from the individual up to the Cosmos—then when Jesus suffers in the era of the individual, he must suffer more than the individual; when he suffers in the era of the family, he must suffer more than what that family undergoes; and if the time has come when a tribe can be saved, then to save the tribe he must undergo suffering greater than the suffering the tribe undergoes.
When one undergoes suffering greater than the suffering that strikes against the era one faces and the missional standard one faces, then, setting up that suffering one has undergone as a condition, one can win back the family one presently faces, if it be a family, or the tribe, if it be a tribe.
Then how can one win it back? How can one win it back?
When Satan relates to an individual, he must appear as an individual enemy.
When Satan appears as an enemy and relates to an individual, he cannot relate to the individual, family, society, and nation as an enemy. Because he cannot escape beyond the realm of the bond of the servant and the brother, he must be in the same position.
If heaven is an individual, then Satan too is an individual; if heaven is a family, Satan too is a family; if heaven is a tribe, Satan too is a tribe—so it goes.
Therefore, the worldwide Providence of Restoration repeats that same principle in reverse. When the satanic world sets up an individual, the heavenly world too sets up an individual; when the satanic world sets up families, God’s world too sets up a family.
For this reason, together with the individual Providence, the family Providence is carried out. At the same time as Jacob of Israel was raised, the family of Israel was sought. In the satanic world, that is the standard.
Thus, by passing through a people and a nation, in preparation against the satanic world, within a rapid span of time, once the individual is determined, and the family is determined, and the tribe is determined, then within a rapid span of time, a people can be established, and a nation can be established.
Because such a heavenly bond remains for us today, an individual has been established in the satanic world, a family has been established in the satanic world, and a tribe has been established in the satanic world. What remains is only to establish the national standard in the satanic world.
Once that alone is established, at rapid speed this passes over into an age in which, standing in the place of the sovereignty of the satanic world’s nation, it can be applied to the whole.
For this reason, though on one side it becomes the source of suffering, in the course of restoring the Will, it can at one point also become an aspect of benefit.
Then, to what degree can Satan inflict suffering?
To what degree of suffering can Satan inflict?
It is Satan who has led the six-thousand-year course of history until now. In this six-thousand-year course of history, if a representative who bore some familial responsibility on heaven’s behalf came forth, then when Satan came to that representative and inflicted trial, to what degree was the standard of that trial?
It cannot go beyond the historic standard. It cannot go beyond the historic standard.
Jesus came upon this earth, bore responsibility as the Messiah, and came to die; he struggled, centered upon a national standard as a people’s standard, and died.
Therefore, today, if only the national standard is crossed—if only one complete standard able to cross the national standard is opened up—the satanic world collapses at rapid speed.
However great Satan may test, on the foundation of that historic bond by which he has struggled against goodness in the human world until now—speaking while pointing to what He had written on the board—if the historic bond has come to this much, then on the foundation of this bond, centering upon that standard, when he relates to this individual to unfold a new history here, when the time comes to relate to the individual and he tries to connect to the individual, he brings a stage of trial corresponding to this historic standard.
If a familial standard is connected here, he can act by adding a familial standard here. He cannot go beyond this.
Today, this corresponds to formation and growth. He cannot do anything beyond that. It is just as in the fall; the fall occurred at the completion level of the growth stage. Therefore, he cannot go beyond that.
The Reason There Must Be a Three-Year Course After Receiving the Blessing
Then what is the secret by which one can receive blessings? In this place, what is the secret by which one can receive a blessing?
When the time of the Providence comes, on the foundation of the individual time, the family comes forth, and on the foundation of the family time, the tribe comes forth. Because it is the history of Providence to broaden thus, one stage linked to the next, until it comes forth even to the worldwide stage.
If you have, in the family era, upheld God’s Providence and paved a victorious foundation, then if you leave that family as it is, it will perish.
If you have a mind to inherit God’s Will, then by undergoing a national trial or tribal trial upon the familial foundation, this family can pave the tribal foundation that is to remain in the future. Do you understand?
Why does the Teacher today bless you and then send you out?
It is because he knows that before us remains the historic destiny by which, on the foundation of the family, the tribe must come; on the foundation of the tribe, the people must come; and on the foundation of the people, the world must come.
The greater this time, the more—by adding one further stage of trial in a greater field and having you cross it—even though you now seem to fall in this era, a wellspring by which you can rise again is brought forth. Therefore, even if there is the regret of falling while fulfilling the mission, if only there is the condition of heaven receiving more suffering and more trial—if it be a standard above the family—then even if the family falls, there remains a bond by which it can be re-established at the time of a standard above the family.
For this reason, Jesus, having settled all upon the cross and risen from the cross, then passed through a further forty-day course of suffering and trial and so left behind a requisite that cannot be violated. That requisite remains as an absolute condition by which the bond of a new world can be established.
Because that absolute condition came into being for the first time since the fallen heaven and earth came into being, when the fortune of heaven and earth comes, it cannot come without passing through the foundation of resurrection that Jesus set up with this absolute requisite. Because there remains the bond of coming to that foundation, and because it is humankind that must seek this bond, humankind has until now been brought to order within the realm of that bond.
Do you understand what this means? Do you understand what this means?
For this reason, heaven has not been able to love its beloved children until now. Even though they were beloved sons, beloved children, He could not love them.
How was it done?
Because the Messiah must carry the original mission of paving the way from the individual up to the family, tribe, people, nation, world, and Cosmos, God, who sends him, mobilized Satan, who, upon such a stage of trial, can refine him instantly and pour worldwide suffering upon him within a short period. Do you understand? The three-year course is the period He granted, mobilizing Satan to present his action all at once.
For this reason, when Jesus, facing death, prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, this is what he appealed to heaven: “Let it be not as I will, but as the Father wills!
If the Father undergoes suffering greater than the death on the cross that I undergo today, then through me release that greater suffering.
If Satan, by killing me today, has accomplished his desire, then take vengeance through the suffering greater than that which God underwent.” Because he left such a standard, from there Satan.
Then at this hour, when we, with a worldwide mission before us, seek to commemorate Parents’ Day—if I truly love you, what must I teach you? Though I would love you, I cannot; and when you come like this, it pains my heart that I cannot feed you as others do. When I tour the provinces and see your wretched living, the wish to wail seeps into my heart.
Yet, because there remains for us a road that must go from the individual enemy to the family enemy and beyond the tribe and the people to the worldwide enemy, here we must not sympathize and fuss. We must not, saying, “Ah, that is enough now,” extend such circumstances.
It is not because God has had no wish or heart to love more than anyone until now that He has driven countless prophets and righteous forebears into the place of death. This is to save the world. Because He bears the desire to leave the Will of the Providence in the satanic world, upon a stage of trial greater than the Will of the Providence He unfolded at that time, He says, “Hey, Satan, do more! Do more!”
Where ten blows were to be struck, let eleven be struck—that is the point. Then, through that, the family of that time lives, if it be a family, and the road by which the people can go is opened.
Where lies the reason we attend to the great prophets and righteous forebears of old?
Because they introduced a new era that could remain by crossing beyond the boundary line of the historic share each was assigned of his own missional task—because, while the fortune of that new era has not yet passed, by attending to those who paved that foundation, I enter within the realm of the benefit of their victory—we attend the sages and worthies of the past. That is the reason. Do you understand?
Why do you believe in Jesus’ cross and sympathize with Jesus’ cross?
Because by sympathizing with it, you can go to that place. It is the same principle. Because such a responsibility of mission is entrusted to us today, in what place shall I stand? In what place shall I stand? You must know this.
The nearer such a time draws, the greater the trial that comes. To pave the foundation of the Providence by which the world can hereafter be conquered and embraced, even the spirit world is mobilized. Evil Satan has hindered the road you walk, but hereafter, the angelic world too will accuse you. Did you understand?
The angelic world, too, even the angelic world, must accuse you. Going still further, even the prophets, righteous forebears, and ancestors of that world will join in. This is how it is.
If there is a course of struggling with Satan, there is also a course of struggling with the angels; and if there is a course of struggling with the angels, there opens up still another course of struggling with the prophets and righteous forebears of the past. That is so. This is what makes the road that the members of our Unification Church today must walk so difficult.
What kind of final crisis is the final crisis that the believers of our Unification Church must cross?
When the trial from Satan is over, the spirits of the spirit world, until now, accuse you, saying, “Are you a member of the Unification Church?”
And the angels too accuse you, saying, “Are you a member of the Unification Church?” Not only the angels, but the saints accuse you. Therefore, before you lies the trial of Satan, and once this passes, there is the trial of the saints and the angels.
Even though there is this trial, only by passing through such a wall, saying “I go on, I go on,” and coming through—only by passing through it and coming through—then upon that.
Is it because Jesus was inferior to anyone that he went to Paradise and prayed?
Jesus, who goes to Paradise and prays, must, bearing the Will of the Providence for the world, take hold of Paradise with his left hand and grasp the breast of God’s garment with his right. In grasping, it is not grasped like this. It must be grasped, reaching beyond the world. Here, the angelic world and all things enter. Therefore, we today, having known this, will.
To Become God’s True Sons and Daughters
For us, where is the true parental bond formed, and where is the true parent–child bond formed?
Even though Parents’ Day is celebrated tens of thousands of times, unless that bond is completely formed in me, I cannot become a true son or daughter.
Then, how must it be done for it to be formed?
One must know how to come along the road one is told to come and know how to go along the road one is told to go. What parent would there be who would send a beloved child out to a place of death?
What parent would there be who would wish to make a child suffer? Yet because there is no other way, it is done thus. Unless it is done thus, the satanic world cannot be brought down and cannot be conquered. This is the final strategy.
If we fail in this battle, we perish. That person is utterly shattered. On the day we win this battle and remain, we are utterly victorious. We stand at such a fork between two roads.
Therefore, the more you celebrate such a day. To stand boldly in your mind before the Father, you must be able to bow down before heaven, saying, “I have come,” with the confidence that you won the victory on the harsh stage of struggle, that even so you shed your blood and sweat and labored more than anyone.
From the very moment you bow down, the one whose mind is pierced through with a heart from which a chest-bursting wail, a weeping, can well up, and who can call upon the Father—he is the one near to the Father.
Then how must it be done? The more you become a throng who labor—when others would walk the Father’s road one step, resolving to walk ten steps; when others would fight one hour, striving ten hours to run further along that road—the more earnest such a mind will be. In such a world of the heart, you must carry the deep heart of the parent alone.
For this reason, on the road of faith, you do not need friends. From my experience, you do not need friends. When the Teacher considers his present position of having a family, he keenly feels that at times it is, on the contrary, a hindrance.
When I went alone, that keen gaze was always set toward one place, but as the environment broadened, I felt that it brought hindrance. There are times when I feel that the heart, which used to surge up so earnestly when I called “Father,” grows faint. That is no doubt because the times are such; yet for you who must walk this road, you must hold such a piercing heart. Your mind.
When I look upon this gathering thus, what kind of place is this gathering? All the spirits of the world have come and are keeping watch. They have come, and some loosen their grip and waver this way and that; some grow a little faint; some are taut and are dragged along. Such phenomena occur. All manner of things, in ten thousand forms, occur.
God, before the countless humanity of such a world. Today, the believers of the Unification movement are taut in drawing in the heart of God; taut. We must draw it in. Should it not be so?
More than anyone in the family, more than anyone among the people, and more than any nation among the nations, we must just draw and draw and draw and draw. When it is thus drawn in, the satanic world is conquered. Should there not be that?
So, what is it? It is to set up the bond of the children, standing in the place of the parents’ hearts, and to play that game.
With the cross before him, with humanity before him, with God placed upon the cross, what did Jesus draw in?
It is the heart that can cross beyond the heart. Just as, however, the conquering enemies may be arrayed in battle, it was only the heart that crosses over this instantly, that runs on crossing beyond death, that could conquer it, so you too must have such a heart.
This Age We Are Meeting Is a Worldwide Age
Therefore, in this missional field that we who remain must now walk—if you yourselves acknowledge that you have made yourselves fit to bear the name of children who can attend Parents’ Day today—then where will you pour out the last passion that remains to you, the last fervor that remains to you, the last resolve?
Where must it be poured out?
Where does heaven seek to have it poured out? It does not seek to have it poured out in the individual era. That, heaven says, it will take responsibility for.
Because the time is a worldwide time, it seeks to realize the individual mission in the era of the children and to realize it on the familial level. Though, of course, the individual, family, tribe, and national eras come forth all at once, connected, it seeks to thrust you from the national and ethnic era into the realm of the worldwide fortune. This is the three-year period of our Unification Church.
In these three years, the Teacher brings all this to order, from the individual to the familial. Do you understand? Do you understand? (Yes.)
In bringing this to order, from where is it brought to order?
It is brought forth by setting up the bond of the era of the womb, which heaven can love most dearly.
When we began the evangelical activity in the summer, baby Ye Jin was living in the womb, wasn't she?
It came forth from that standard. And so, coming forth thus through the three years. It came forth from such a standard, such a standard. Meanwhile, our era has reached the time when, passing through the era of the ethnic mission, it can pass over into the worldwide era.
Then where do we make you suffer?
You did not know the individual era. None of you knew.
Did you know what the Teacher was doing?
None of you knew what he was doing. While you did not know, the era in which you could attend the Teacher individually has passed. The time when you could truly attend to him in a familial way has all been lost. For this reason, it keeps growing distant. It keeps growing distant. Those who enter hereafter cannot draw near. They must relate on a national level. It keeps growing distant. At such times, indemnity must be paid.
Yet because the members of our Unification Church have the mission of having to save the whole world, you are made to undergo trial at this time, until the stage when the national fortune and the worldwide fortune pass over. When you undergo trial here, when you now go out with the peninsula of three thousand ri as your stage and fight, do not think, “I am the best here.” This is Golgotha — Golgotha.
It is Golgotha, but on the day that there comes a day when, having won the victory at Golgotha, you receive heaven’s acknowledgment as a fortress of resurrection and can be embraced in the Father’s bosom as true sons and daughters—that is worldwide. With such a mind, you must fight splendidly, splendidly. Here you must not say, “Father, I am threatened; I have stood at a standard like the highest historic standard of trial; I have stood at the highest standard of trial; Father.” That makes one a loser. You must wage this battle while consoling heaven. It is not that one fights so, being pitifully driven about. Do you understand? (Yes.)
As you welcome this Parents’ Day.
Now, before us, this trial and tribulation remain as a worldwide stage. This is but for a moment. When the seven years come, this tightens in. At the very first, it is great, but the tribulation gradually grows smaller. Do you understand?
When the trial at the very first is great, the tribulation is greatest, so the Unification Church band is this small. This trial grows gradually, gradually—at first it was great, but it gradually grows smaller. Proportionally, when the trial is this great, the members of the Unification Church are this small.
Yet as history goes on, the trial grows gradually, gradually smaller. As it grows gradually, gradually smaller, the Unification Church gradually, gradually comes to be revealed. It is the same. (Speaking while writing on the board.)
The period in which you suffered was long in the past. For one who set out from here to come up to here, how long is it?
Yet because it is the time of passing from the national time to the worldwide time, the time is short. It is short. It is short. The period for passing over is short. Being short, it is not long. This period is called seven years—who knows how many months it may take? It may even be a matter of days. The moment the world passes over is the moment of a tick-tock. So it is in that sense that the Teacher prays such grave prayers. Is that not so?
How many days does the decision of perishing and prospering take?
How many days does it take? (It is an instant.) It is the moment of a tick-tock. So, in the past, we had many trials, but the trial grew gradually, gradually smaller, and our side grew gradually, gradually greater.
So, because the worldwide stage has been given to us, every wall that blocked us has fallen. Because the national walls have all fallen, what remains is the worldwide standard.
If there comes to be a single sovereign nation, if only the standard of sovereignty wins the victory here, then the worldwide standard pushes forward from an equal standard. Is that not so? Therefore, the difficult trials that you must walk through are not many.
So what does the Teacher most desire?
It is that you, embracing a worldwide heart, embracing a worldwide parent’s heart, become one resolved to set up the shield of victory upon the course of worldwide tribulation—let us fight just a little, just a little—and then surely a bright and shining day will come before us, as I see it.
In This Worldwide Time, Let Us Embrace the worldwide parents’ hearts and win the Victory
Moreover, you who have attended here today have come to know this. Now that we have done the first, the second, the third, the fourth, the fifth, and the sixth, this time is the last, the seventh.
For the seventh time, you are being fully mobilized once again. In doing this work this time, do not by any means depend on anyone. Do not depend on other people. Do not go borrowing money from someone you happen to know, from your friends, and set out.
Emptying the pockets of your mother and father is all right. What belongs to your mother and father, to your brothers, is all right. Why? Because Jacob did so, Jacob. Did he not? I would like to explain the specific content to you in full, but because explaining it would bring hindrance…
If you are to depend on someone, depend on someone with whom you have formed a bond, who can protect you. Depend on such a one whose belongings, being the father’s, are also mine, and being the elder brother’s, are also mine.
When one has not yet branched out into a separate household, is it not mine?
Because it is mine, all the better, before them… When, in a good sense, for the sake of the Will, you do all the better what they themselves cannot do, it seems it ought not to pass, but it passes. You understand, do you not?
If another person helps, that help becomes a condition, and that person comes to be unable to go on. Look. Suppose that in the Unification Church, you go out and witness, and then, to have someone undergo the workshop, you gather money and send them to the workshop. See whether that goes well—whether the Teacher’s words are right or not.
Having the church here provide the funds will never do. It will never do. If it were so, our Principle would be a lie. It will not do. At a certain point, one comes to falter.
Kim Sun-hee here, at first… Where has Kim Jin-hee gone? (Yes.) Did you know such a thing? (Yes.) That will not do. When the Teacher, saying, “Let us try it once from headquarters,” supports a certain church, the church that is supported will never do the church that is supported. It will not do for the Teacher to support it, especially from headquarters. And so, shutting his eyes tight, he does not support it.
When does he provide support?
When one has passed through the formation level and the growth level and crosses over the completion stage, the son whom heaven has truly loved—at that point, heaven props him up.
So at such a point, yes, he provides support. In the very crisis of whether one lives or dies, God surely does not intervene and work. He says, “Go out by that standard.” He says, at the very crossing, do not slip, but suffer only a little beyond the proper measure. Setting that as the condition, all is loosed and resolved.
The road that avoids tribulation is not the road that goes to heaven. The conclusion is that going through tribulation is the road that leads to heaven. Do you understand? (Yes.)
Again, if you wish to have ancestors who are blessed before heaven, children who are blessed—granting that today’s actual time is a national time—if you struggle before the worldwide time, the fortune… if a person meets worldwide tribulation and worldwide suffering, makes it his stage of trial, and offers up devotion before heaven, then though this time be a national time, a national period, if that person offers up such devotion, heaven blesses his sons and daughters. In giving the blessing, it adds a worldwide blessing.
For this reason, when sons and daughters are born, sons and daughters are born who can lead those people and can lead the world. Do you understand? (Yes.) It is from such a viewpoint that I am looking. This principle is without error. This principle is not mistaken.
Moreover, those who have taken a family this time must think this principle through thoroughly. It is difficult to play the part of a parent. Having lived it, I find that being a parent is a truly fearsome thing. There was a time when the Teacher, having prayed one phrase wrongly, repented before his child. That is, before the Father, there is a dignity by which one prays according to one’s own worth. I ought to have prayed such and such a prayer as myself, but I prayed one phrase carelessly. As one speaks on, one comes to say such a phrase. This pierced my chest through…
After that prayer, I repented before the child. If one does this wrongly, one repents for over a week. Unless one appears before one’s child in the highest purity, one cannot be a true parent. That you must know. I did not know it either. Having prayed, I found…
Do you feed the children you say you love by stealing other people’s belongings?
Rather, to starve them to death would be…
If you are a parent, it is difficult to play the part of a parent as a parent. The child is a wordless teacher who guides the parent. From such a position, you must pray.
Then, my saying today that I will make you suffer so from such a position—is it to use you up and devour you?
Is it to fleece you? That is not the principle. That is not the principle. That breaks apart. It breaks apart in any case. Even if left alone, it is bound to break apart in any case. Yet to drive you thus is to say, “Let us go the shortcut, let us go the shortcut, let us go the shortcut.”
By going thus—if, going ten years, one would gain some small thing, then, going ten days, one gains several thousand times what ten years would give—and so, meaning to do it that way, with extraordinary resolve, I drive you down that road. This is the responsibility of a leader, the responsibility of one who knows. For this reason, there is no other way.
Moreover, in placing these families this time, that is what I am concerned about. How many tears has that family shed? Tears that you would not otherwise shed…
You will have a destiny you were born with. Because heaven knows the standard of living by which you were to live when you were born upon this earth, the destiny you were born with… There is such a thing as destiny, is there not?
That you should live a life beyond the standard of your fate… Though born with such a fortune, if, having come into the world, you stand on the standard opposite to it, work for the sake of heaven, and labor and suffer toward a greater fortune, that labor will never, never be lost. Do you understand? Do you understand? (Yes.) So now, you who remain…
Let Us Make These People a People That Can Serve the World
Now, if heaven were to give a gift to you, who must go forth having welcomed Parents’ Day, what would it give?
It is to say: undergo historic suffering here and become a watchman who guards it. This you must keep firmly in mind. Do you understand? (Yes.)
Even as we look upon these people now in the midst of dire distress, no throng suffers more than our Unification Church. The Unification Church suffers most, does it not? (Yes.) The Teacher plans that, hereafter, when there comes to be much money, that money must not be given to the members of the Unification Church. Do you understand? (Yes.)
Even though all the abundant economic foundations behind us, by which one could eat well and dress well, are fully laid, do not give it to the members of the Unification Church. For how many years? It is not that we shall never give it. It is that for ten years, say ten years, we shall not give it.
What shall be done with it?
It is to give in charity, more than America does, for the sake of the pitiful peoples. When people of various nations travel to America, they praise it, saying, “Ah, a Kingdom of Heaven on earth, a nation that is the symbol of culture!” — but it must be the opposite.
By supporting countless people and helping countless peoples, this nation must become so wretched that, when someone comes to visit it, they cannot bear to set foot in it. Do you understand what I mean? It must become such a miserable nation.
Why has the nation become so?
It is not because it has no money. Why did these people become so?
To help the people of the world. These people must become those who love the people of the world more than their own people. This absolute standard of loving the people of the world more than one’s own parents—who will make it? This is what the Teacher is most concerned about.
How shall this be made?
If only this were made, then communism and whatever else could not conquer the world. Would it not be so? Think about it.
And so, when those people come to know that this nation supported the world thus for ten years—when they come to know that, coming to Korea, the people went without food and even sold their blood to give support—from there, the people of the world will surely raise their hands and cry out, “Now, people of Korea, suffer no longer!” Such a cry will come to be heard.
Once that time comes—when the standard is set by which they can praise these people, saying that, together with an ideal, they labored to save the world and, possessing the heart of heaven, are the elder brother among elder brothers, the comrade among comrades, the representative who stands in the place of the parents—when at that time it reaches the point that they demonstrate, crying, “Let the people in Korea suffer no longer!” then instantly Korea becomes a paradise on earth. Do you understand what I mean? (Yes.)
However well we might do for thirty years, for decades, how could we make it so?
Could we catch up to America? Yet if for ten years, say ten years, we tighten our belts and play this game, then after ten years, or after several decades, we can cross over the highest standard of culture. This is how heaven thinks. Do you understand? (Yes.)
The one who makes them play that game is, for the moment, an enemy. Those who do not know perish. They are bound to fall away. So I teach. If one does not know, all falls away.
If one does not know, one is bound to perish and fall away. Israel, because it did not know, all perished and fell away and was broken off—because it did not know.
So I teach. I teach in such a way that one can see with the eyes and know. When one is taught and still cannot go, that is one’s own responsibility. This is what the Teacher now prays for.
It is a wretched story, but when you look at Hitler’s Mein Kampf, how greatly he slaughtered the Jews. When one looks upon people who, unable to eat, became malnourished and struggled on the road of death, clinging to life, if only the Korean people could tell the world… That Hitler, to conquer the world, branded other nations as enemy nations and did such things; but rather, those who are in the right toward an enemy nation ought to become elite troops and render service to the world. Had they done so, they would have conquered the world forever instantly; yet such a righteous army did not appear in this age at the close of history, in this age of the Last Days.
The Teacher harbors such an outrageous thought. Let us have the members of the Unification Church do so and go forward once.
It is that, by mobilizing hundreds of thousands, one can conquer the world. Do you have such a driving force of the heart by which it can be accomplished? The Teacher has thought much about such things. Do you understand what I mean? (Yes.) The Teacher harbors such outrageous thoughts. So suffering is his inborn lot.
Hold Fast to the Parent’s Heart and Go On to the End
Again, look—as for the Teacher… Try praying, all of you. As for the Teacher, when he was born upon this earth, he was born a precious child. He was born nobly.
Because when he was born upon this earth, he came bearing from the origin the bond of heaven’s heavenly nature; he was born with a precious body. He was not set to suffer so and to live so basely. It was not so set.
By a person possessing such a fortune, such a foundation of mind, such a background, suffering thus, by virtue of that suffering, the thirty million come to look up, and by virtue of that suffering, humanity receives liberation.
Yet you, members of the Unification Church—how long have you even known the Teacher, that you say this and that about him?… Because thereby the heavenly fortune folds in toward you, in the world of the bonds of heart, people must surely bow their heads and go, and serve, where there is merit.
Because that is the law and order of heavenly principle, when one passes before it and lives with that bond set before one, one must surely bow one’s head and go.
This is an order one knows of oneself, even though no one teaches it. Because there is such a bond, the Unification Church is strange and wondrous.
Even looking at my children now, quietly… What will become of these children?
The way I teach is thus, and the law and order by which heaven, having raised them, must bring humanity to order is thus; yet to me, who guides that law and order, it is truly a matter of wonder. It is an experiment, an experiment.
Therefore, when we speak here today about Parents’ Day—toward our family members gathered here, the parent’s heart is the parent’s heart, but as for how one must hold one’s heart toward the children, truly toward the children, and how to bridge this—when we consider this, we must likewise know that all the historic bonds are sustained and turn upon this. Do you understand? (Yes.)
For this reason, when you call “Father, Mother,” when you would call “Father, Mother,” upon this road of Restoration, you must call “Father, Mother” from the most difficult place. Such a person is as one who binds God fast.
When fighting in the place of representing the people, one stands alone before the people and calls, “Father!” — though one calls alone, representing the thirty million people thus, just crying out in the midst of suffering, anxious for heaven, and praying—then that individual, though an individual, is not an individual. It is as though all thirty million of the people were binding God. For this reason, a leader for the age is needed. It is the same.
You will now go out to the provinces. In any case, we must run the not-distant period that remains. We must run. Within a near span of days, setting the range far and swiftly, forming a bond here, when you call “Father” there, first that land and that region will be assimilated to it and will bow their heads. How shall this road be made?
So, how shall we now make the thirty million people such that they can bow their heads, such that when one calls “Father!” they can answer, “Yes, it is right!”? To make it so is not to seek to eat well and live well.
It is to go forth for the sake of the parent’s heart—longing to see the Father, longing to see the Mother, and to be held in their bosom—to go forth to meet that one time when, having become princes of liberation, all things are unhindered, unhindered under heaven, whether one dances or whatever one does, and all people can look upon one as a symbol of glory.
I promise you that if you become people who, burning with this mind, this thirsting mind that longs to attend to the parents, fight on—taking even harsh trials as my road to walk and resolving to shoulder the responsibility that ought duly to be borne—then surely there will be such a day. And in fact, the Teacher is now coming forth thus.
Now only two prayers remain. Two prayers remain. One is the final problem concerning this nation, and one is the final worldwide problem concerning communism.
Other than these, the Teacher has no wish. Because the time has drawn this near, even looking at the present state of affairs, you will know that we have come to such a stage.
Knowing it so—since the Teacher has suffered, you too, knowing it so—endure, and before the final wall, for the sake of connecting the parent’s heart, give all the devotion you have. Just as Jesus, by virtue of the bond in which he took hold of the Father’s heart and appealed upon the summit of Golgotha, manifested the power of resurrection, so you too—do not become people pushed along in the midst of dire distress, but become ones who take hold, saying, “Let it be done according to Thy Will!” and entwine your heart there.
If only it were so, you would without fail become victorious sons and daughters. This hour, in which one makes such a resolve, such a determination, in such a place, is Parents’ Day. Do you understand? (Yes.) Do you understand? (Yes.) Do you understand? (Yes.)
Then we must go. We must go. We must go to the end. By doing so, you do not become sorrowful people. It is not that you meet a day of sorrow; rather, a day of joy will without fail come. You will promise, will you not? (Yes.)
Prayer
Father, if I had no Father, I could indeed be called a pitiful one. As for loneliness, I know there is no place more lonely than this. When the Father drove me out into a desolate wilderness where there were no friends and no one to whom I could pour out my circumstances, I came to know the Father’s gaze, which looked upon me with a heart like that of an orphan. I beheld the form of the Father, struggling to seek His child with the heart of a lost parent. And so, when I consider that I have come even to this place today without collapsing—Father, I am overwhelmed with awe.
Though no one in the world should know me, it is my pride that I possess the Father. In sorrow, He was my Father, and in joy, He was my Father. Yet because I came to know that He is a Father in a position more sorrowful than mine, I resolved to give all the strength I had…
Grant that the heart, which sorrows—looking back upon the road I have walked, lest I leave behind the han of having failed to give my loyalty while strength yet remained to me—may never depart from this body. Thou knowest that today it is so, and tomorrow it is so, and that even in the resting hours of a single day I scourge myself and, holding fast to the Father’s heart, shed tears, longing for the time when I may call upon the Father. Among those who have knelt here, there are also pitiful and lonely throngs.
Father, these are young people in the bloom of youth. I know well that it is the temperament of the young to wish to eat more than others, to wish to boast more than others, to wish to be exalted more than others.
Yet they are Thy sons and daughters who, having buried all the desires of this season of youth in the ground, have come running, struggling, longing for the Father’s bosom; therefore, become now a Father who can take them hand in hand and call, “My sons and daughters!”; and—Father—I earnestly beseech Thee to intervene directly now and watch over the road before us.
This remaining national mission and this remaining worldwide mission lie before us; therefore, Father—I earnestly beseech and desire that Thou wouldst grant us to become sons and daughters who do not collapse here but remain to the end and who can sing of the freedom and glory of liberation before the Father’s presence.
The Father, who sent Jesus to this earth as the only begotten Son, could not embrace Jesus and love him. Until now, he could not love him. How filled with bitter indignation was the heart of the Father, who stood in the position of a parent that had to compel—upon the historic course of struggle until now—the demand that He must defend him? This I have come to know.
Though we have held the standing of children for bringing the mission of Restoration to completion, there yet remains the road by which we must now return; therefore, we must become ones who go toward the missional ground that cannot be left unwalked, however one might wish to leave it; and so I earnestly beseech Thee to watch over the road we walk. Because Thou didst protect me in such a place, I know that Thou art a Father who will protect these also in such a place. Because I know that Thou art a Father who was anxious in the midst of such a trial, I know that Thou wilt protect these also in such a place of trial.
When, out of such trial and such dire distress, they make ready a place of victory and offer it before the Father, I have come to know that Thou art a Father who asks whether, even having added the blessing of all blessings, it is yet not insufficient; therefore I earnestly beseech and desire that Thou wouldst bless these in such a place.
All the beloved family members scattered throughout the various places of South Korea, who today celebrate this Parents’ Day with one accord, could not attend here; yet bless them together with us. Their hearts are moving with this place as their center. I know that when they become even more earnest than those who have attended here, they will receive a blessing. Be together with them, and I know also that there are many of Thy sons and daughters in faraway places overseas, sons and daughters who shed tears as they commemorate this day. Be together with them also; and since Thou hast established this day on which we desire to set up the heavenly bond by which Thou hast established one day of victory as a promise, make thick all these bonds of today and establish them as a bond before all people, before all the Cosmos; and I earnestly beseech that Thou wouldst grant this to be a day that can become the occasion of liberation and the foundation of the shield of victory.
The Parents’ Day we longed to call upon—grant that, having welcomed the True Parents who can represent Parents’ Day, we may become true children who, while the True Parents are alive upon this earth, give our full devotion with this body, and who, bearing the name of filial children, can follow the road of my Mother and Father.
Father, I know that the time upon this earth is not long. We have met a period of infinite value to us, one that comes but once; therefore, I earnestly beseech that Thou wouldst grant us not to become those who, having missed this road of value, lament for a thousand autumns and ten thousand generations, or in the eternal world.
Grant that, in this life, in this period in which we wear the flesh, we may become filial sons and daughters who pour out all our vigor, and loyal subjects and devoted women; and upon the historic course of the new heaven and earth, call the road these have walked filial piety, and call the road these have walked loyalty. And I earnestly entreat and desire that Thou wouldst grant the eternal glory of the Father to dwell forever upon the ground of these.
Let the glory and blessing and authority of all the ages be together, by the Father’s glory, with these and with the beloved children and with Thy sons and daughters scattered throughout all of heaven and earth, and with the countless multitudes of humanity who must hereafter be raised before the Will—even unto the heavens, where there are the countless thousands upon thousands of saints who, before the release of resentment in the heavenly Restoration, look on holding fast to a heart of sorrow. I earnestly entreat that Thou wouldst manifest Thy privileged grace and drive our throngs and all of heaven and earth toward a new ground of glory.
And so, grant that the Father, becoming the center of the true True Parents and true children and true family members and the true heaven and earth, may swiftly bring to pass one world in which the oneness of heart can be achieved. Removing evil from this earth and expelling the enemies from this earth…
