Former Headquarters Church, Korea

We know that the center of God’s history of Restoration is neither the world, nor any nation, nor any particular clan or people. Before there can be a nation that God can be together with—that is, a nation that God can establish—there must be a people who can represent that nation.

For there to be such a people, there must be a clan that can become the center of that people; and for there to be a clan, there must be a family; and for there to be that family, there must be parents.

To bring these parents into being, God has carried out the providential history of individual restoration until now. In the end, the point where everything converges is the parents.

True Parents Are the Starting Point of the Providence of Restoration

If we examine the past and present of the history that has flowed until now, there were many nations, great and small, and many minor peoples. There were also countless families of religious people. Yet those nations did not become the nation God was seeking; those peoples did not become the people God sought, and those families did not become the family God sought. Those families, peoples, and nations all simply flowed away.

We know that the providential history of Restoration settled until now was to establish, within God’s Will, one family that can remain eternally, and through that family, one clan and one people, one nation, that can remain eternally.

You must know that the history in which God has toiled until now is the history that has sought, settling things in this way, one day on which He can love one family on behalf of the whole.

Then what is it that determines the one standard that makes one forget all the toil of settling even a nation, a people, and a family—regardless of what nation, people, clan, or family has been established? It is not the family, nor any siblings, but precisely the parents.

Unless the standard of the true ancestors of humankind is determined here, the fruit of God’s love cannot be borne. Nor can the fight God has fought until now be concluded and the highest victory be pledged. And the starting point of the wish God has longed for until now cannot be determined either.

In this way, we must know that True Parents are the starting point at which a new departure can be seen in establishing the family centered on God’s love.

Then who was originally to stand in such a position?

Unfallen Adam and Eve were to stand there. God’s wish, seen centering on Adam and Eve, was in Adam as an individual or in Eve as an individual too; but what He desired even more than that was to determine, centering on the two of them, one position of parents. That is God’s ideal of creation and God’s purpose of creation.

Then what kind of place could become the origin of the Four Position Foundation?

It is the place where Adam and Eve become one. The place where Adam and Eve, growing up in this way, are bound together in one love and form the starting point of departure at which they can love each other was the first position the ancestors of humankind were to be equipped with. Had they, in such a place, formed an inseparable, unified love centering on God’s love that no one could ever tear apart, the True Parents of humankind would surely have departed from here.

But we must know the fact that, because human beings failed to be in accord with the standard God wished for and instead deviated—that is, because the ancestors of our humankind erred—this path was utterly shattered.

We know the fact that, because this came about not through some external circumstance but through an internal problem—that is, because it was ensnared centering on love—correcting it is an exceedingly difficult problem, even with toil unparalleled in history.

Therefore, to resolve this hereafter, the countless peoples and countless nations that have turned their backs on one another and split apart must be bound together. Then how must the binding be done? They cannot all be bound at once.

So, to form one nation, one must establish one clan that can represent the nation, one family that can represent the clan, and one true man and true woman that can represent the family, and thereby bind everything that had split apart outwardly back into its original form.

In other words, one must establish two people, a man and a woman, who can represent the standard of becoming the original parents of humankind in place of Adam and Eve. Through them, one must bind things in reverse toward the original standard, and you must know that to do this is an exceedingly difficult matter.

The Difficulty of the Providential History of Restoration through Indemnity

The history until now is the history of restoration through indemnity. Within the history of restoration through indemnity, countless families were mobilized, and countless clans were mobilized. Countless nations were also mobilized and passed on. Yet time and again, there was never once a time when any family, any clan, any people, or any nation was in accord with the Will of Heaven.

Always they set up conditions by which God could not but grieve, and always they bore results by which God could not but despair.

So the grief of God, who faced countless families and clans, countless peoples and nations, remains until now. You must know that the problem of when these sorrowful matters can be resolved is an exceedingly difficult problem along the road of Restoration.

Then, considering the countless nations scattered throughout the world, if there is among them a nation that God seeks, what kind of nation would that nation be? And what kind of people would the people that can stand in for that nation be?

What kind of clan would the clan that can organize those people be? And if there is one family that can form that clan, what kind of family would that family be? When we consider it from God’s standpoint, this is not a simple problem.

Historically, humankind has been forming, in oneness with Satan, a blood tie with Satan that cannot be broken however one tries. This is a tie that cannot be severed however one tries, a tie that binds itself again even when severed. Humankind is placed within such a destiny.

You must know the fact that to settle humankind within such a realm of death and to determine one family standard that can be in accord with God is harder than anything whatever.

You must know how difficult and arduous it is, in this fallen world, to seek and establish—even if one family-standard nation is made—within it a clan that God can establish, within that clan too a family that God can establish, and within that family too the standard of the True Parents of humankind who can stand in for God.

Today upon this earth many nations bear the name of Christianity and lie within the Christian sphere. There are also countless clans and families. Yet they stand in a position far too distant from the standard by which God could say, “This is the very family and nation I have been setting up.”

If we set our habituated life beside it, we may not know whether we can say that the Republic of Korea, at least, stands within the sphere that can be blessed before Heaven, but it is difficult to declare it a nation that will be blessed.

Today every nation stands in such a position. Though there are countless nations upon this earth, they are far too distant from the heart of the Father, who comes seeking one nation as the standard. In other words, the distance is great between the high and precious holy work of the creation of God and the stage of the evil, actual world.

Then who will fill that great distance?

Who will pay the indemnity for this? This is the problem. For Heaven’s side, resolving this problem cannot but be a hardship. This is not filled just by itself.

Here one absolutely cannot cross over without presenting an offering of indemnity on behalf of countless peoples and nations. Yet if we ask whether that nation and people can know this condition of indemnity and present a condition that can indemnify everything, the answer is that they cannot. Then who must do that work? God must do it. God cannot but present the conditions of indemnity before them and thereby shorten and fill this distance. What has fought in this way is the six-thousand-year providential history of Restoration. You must know this.

Therefore, even if you establish a particular nation God desires, you must know the fact that there was necessarily a historical indemnity of the long span of six thousand years there. Even if there is a nation equipped with such content of indemnity, when we consider whether the standard at the time of its establishment and the period the nation goes—ten years if ten years, twenty years if twenty years, or however long until the Will is accomplished—can always go forward in oneness, the answer is that they cannot. Just as human beings have failed time and again along the historical course until now, so too do they not stand in a position of being in accord with God and cooperating in filling God’s historical distance.

That people may be able to become one within some time for a period of a few years or months, but to be one for several decades is exceedingly difficult.

So even a nation God establishes, if that nation cannot keep pace with the period in which it can be in accord with God’s Will, that nation completely perishes.

The Will to Seek True Parents

Then how has He acted to sustain the destiny of this nation that cannot but perish? He had one particular person fill the distance of that nation, centering on them. And if those people could not fill it, He had a particular clan even among those people—for instance, the Kim clan if the Kims, the Park clan if the Parks—fill the distance the people could not fill. But if this clan could not fulfill its responsibility in filling the distance between the nation that can stand in for God’s Will and the nation of that time, He had a particular family, centered within that clan, to supplement the distance the clan could not fill. Therefore, one must establish a particular family that can stand in for the responsibility of the clan. And when the family thus established cannot fulfill its responsibility, one must leave behind one standard that can extend it. Then what is the standard that must be left behind? It is standing in the position of parents.

Where lies the final purpose in God’s carrying out the history of Restoration until now? It lies in true parents. Requiring true parents is to represent a true family; requiring a true family is to represent a true clan; requiring a true clan is to represent a true people, a true nation, a true world. It develops in this way.

Seen in reverse, to represent the world, a nation must become the offering; to represent the nation, a people must become the offering; to represent the people, some particular clan must become the offering; to represent that clan, some particular family must become the offering; and centering on that family, a person standing in some particular representative position must become the offering. In the end, where does it converge? It converges on the parents.

Therefore, these parents can become the motive of history, can become the starting point of the formation of all nations, and can become the origin of the organization of all peoples. That is why God cannot but weave the providential history of Restoration, centering on these parents who can become this origin.

Even if the nation and people are lost, if a family centered on the standard of true parents stands upon a complete foundation, one can newly organize the clan, people, and nation centering on that family. Therefore, even if one has lost the whole of everything, where is the standard that becomes the origin by which such content can be reorganized—in other words, the place that can become one starting point of the hope toward which humankind advances? It is precisely the position of True Parents. You must know that point.

Originally Adam and Eve were to become the eternally unchanging parents of a family and form the clan, people, nation, and world. But because Adam and Eve fell and failed to accomplish this, you must know that the six-thousand-year history until now is one of seeking them out again, coming down, and organizing these things from a new angle.

Within this Will, who was the one who came to conclude such a mission? It is Jesus Christ.

What did that Jesus Christ come representing?

Centering on the content of indemnity, he came representing the world, came representing the nation, and also came representing the people and clan and representing the family. Though Jesus thus came representing the whole and as the center of the whole, the people of Israel did not attend to Jesus as such a one.

There was not a single person who believed in him as the representative of the nation, nor as the representative of the people, nor as the representative of the clan, nor, further, even as the representative of one family. Yet God’s sending of Jesus was to set him up as the representative of the whole and as the center of the whole. We must know how great the difficulty of Jesus was, who nevertheless did not have an environment that could carry out such a mission.

Jesus’ Wish

What Jesus wished for was one nation, one people, one clan, and one family. And his wish was for the True Parents, who could become the origin of that family. But in determining the True Parents, one woman became the problem.

In coming to seek that woman, she could not simply be brought in. If it were an ordinary man taking a woman, he could take her at any time; but in Jesus’ taking of one woman, he was not in a position to take her freely from the vertical environment or the horizontal environment. To take that woman, Jesus had to establish the standard of a national representative, had to establish the standard of a representative of the people, and had to establish the standard of a clan-level and family-level representative. Without stating all the conditions that could be in accord with the content of the four-thousand-year providence up to that time and setting up the condition of having completely indemnified this, Jesus could not take one bride. You must know this fact.

We can know, even from looking at the Bible, that since Jesus came as the bridegroom, there had to be a bride before that Jesus. Yet that bride must not appear merely as one woman before one man on a flat, horizontal standard. She had to be a woman standing before such a standard as represents one nation, represents one people, represents one clan, and represents the countless families centered on that clan.

Then what must such a representative woman be like?

In the position of a daughter, she had to be the daughter among daughters. Furthermore, in the position of a wife, she had to be the paragon among virtuous women, and among countless mothers, she had to weave the standard by which she could become a mother who, more than anyone, stood in for the heart of God.

Then when we ask whether there was such a woman among the people of Israel, the answer is that there was no such woman. Therefore, when we recall the path Jesus went, the path he passed through in his life of some thirty years upon this earth, that path was one of seeking one woman possessing all this content, who together with Jesus could indemnify the sins of humankind—and that could not but become a problem.

Furthermore, what kind of woman must such a woman be?

She had to be, without fail, a woman who advanced in accord with the Will of God, centering on a historical background. It could not be otherwise. She had to be equipped with a historical background indispensable before the people of Israel, or before the nation of Israel.

Furthermore, that woman had to be equipped with the particular content by which she herself could represent the nation, represent the people, represent countless families, and represent countless women. Without determining that, one cannot cross over the standard of restoration through indemnity. In other words, one cannot determine the standard of the parents who become the center of the whole. You must clearly know that fact.

The history until now is the history of restoration through indemnity. This history is not a joyful history but a sorrowful history. Within this sorrowful history, countless nations are drawn in, countless peoples and countless clans are drawn in, and countless families of Israel are drawn in.

Because these are the countless nations and peoples, countless clans and families of the world that remain as the result of a history woven with such sorrow, the woman who can come forth representing all of these must not be merely plain. She cannot be apart from a woman equipped with such particular content who has resolved that she can take responsibility for it. In other words, she cannot be apart from a woman equipped, within her heart, with the particular content by which she can represent countless nations, countless clans, and countless families.

And that woman, with such resolve and confidence, must become one with Jesus, who comes representing all the men of history. That means she must believe in Jesus, who comes as one man, as one man who can represent the nation if the nation represents the people, if the people represent the clan, if the clan represents the family, if the family becomes one with him. Without such a standard being set up, the tie of True Parents centered on the restored family cannot be determined.

The Mission of Christianity

Seeing this, we can know that the twelve disciples and seventy disciples Jesus chose did not become the foundation for fundamentally resolving the inner problem.

Jesus sought to mobilize them and make one masculine fence that could represent the people and represent the nation. He then sought to connect himself to that foundation as one fruit body.

For this, the representative pattern spread out horizontally in that age—reappearing many men who had failed to fulfill their responsibility historically—is the twelve disciples and seventy disciples.

If the twelve disciples and seventy disciples, centered on Jesus, become completely one, the errors of all the men who failed in the course of history, who could not indemnify in each of their ages, are indemnified.

Therefore, Jesus had to become completely one with them and horizontally make a substantial dominion that could settle the historical failure. Making a completely impregnable, fortress-like fence, he had to determine a victorious foundation as one man that Satan could not attack however he tried. And who are the ones who had to carry out the mission of that fence? They are the twelve disciples and the seventy disciples.

Standing firmly upon such a ground—that is, upon such a background—one had to seek a woman like the one spoken of before and make the standard of the mother.

To achieve that, one had to pass through a great battle, just as one had fought along the historical course. The twelve disciples and seventy disciples of that age did not know the fact that Jesus had such internal circumstances that made this unavoidable.

So Jesus never once had such a ground of environment. Without having found even one partner with whom he could do that and without having found even one disciple to whom he could convey such an inner situation, he passed a life of some thirty years and in the end was nailed to the cross and died.

Because Jesus is one who died on the cross in that way, if there is han, he would have more han than anyone. Even though God sent Jesus upon the ground of toil, weaving history for four thousand years, and had him meet at an appointed time, all the content God wished for was fundamentally shattered.

Furthermore, though Jesus came to establish one victorious foundation upon the four-thousand-year history God had woven as a history of men, he had to go without establishing it. Because he was such a Jesus, you must know how pitiful his circumstances were.

Jesus did not mind his own single death. He grieved more over the fact that because of his own single death, all the providence of God, which had been working through men for the long span of four thousand years, came to naught. He was a Jesus who felt the sorrow of God’s providence turning to failure more greatly than the sorrow of his death and who grieved deeply within. You must know the heart of such a Jesus.

But because Jesus, under the conviction, resolve, and readiness that even though he died he would settle all the historical ground once more, broke through the path of the cross with dignity, he was able to prepare a point of accord with the heart of God and to settle the disciples again spiritually.

You must know the fact that with this he made a second fence and was able to reorganize the history of Christianity centered on men down to today. Thus, centering on a spiritual standard, what has been developed while passing through the history of countless martyrdoms for two thousand years until now is the history of Christianity.

Then, seen centering on the history of Christianity, Christianity must not remain within the vague ideological sphere of a nation but must establish once more some particular people, cause all the inner problems that were not resolved in Jesus’ day to reappear, and resolve them completely. Such a course of indemnity remains. That is why, in the Last Days, a particular nation cannot but become the issue.

Then what nation is that particular nation?

Among countless nations, we members of the Unification Church know the fact that that particular nation must be Korea. The Korean people must carry out that whole mission. And among them, we who are in Korea must strive so that we can fulfill such a mission.

The Blessed Families Who Must Become the Fence of True Parents

Seen centering on the Unification Church today, what must the 36 Families, 72 Families, and 124 Families—blessed during the three years from 1960—do? You must know this. These families must complete the mission of the fence centered on the external standard that Jesus did not have in his lifetime. Thereby they must fulfill the responsibility of connecting all the content of indemnity by which they can, inwardly and outwardly, represent the world, represent the nation, or represent the people, clan, and family, and of linking one object standard.

You must know that the responsibility of the families blessed during the three years from 1960 is to carry out such a mission of the fence.

In Jesus’ day, families had never even had the noun “Blessing,” nor had they passed through such a process. Therefore, our families now, who have passed through the standard of the Blessing, unlike that age, must have the whole of their families become the external fence.

Seen from this viewpoint, today in Korea there are many families that have formed a tie with True Parents, centering on the ideology of the Unification Church. Some 800 families have been blessed until now, and what must these families do?

Among those families, the man must become an object-ground who can represent the absolute man before the coming Lord and can connect the historical han. And the woman—because in the course of history until now the existence of woman has never appeared upon the course of God’s providence—must appear as the representative who resolves that historical han: the han that woman never once appeared, from a horizontally equal position, before the course of God’s providence.

Their having received the privileged benefit of being able to appear in that way is because they are blessed families. Therefore, before the man, the woman must become an inner fence that can, representing all women, horizontally indemnify all the vertical history woven from the past until now and become one power that can connect it to the family.

Therefore, if one family turns and enters, the whole of some 800 families must turn and enter; and if that family turns and comes forth, the whole must be able to turn and come forth.

In other words, even if things turn and enter centering on one man and one woman, the whole of that family must be connected before True Parents; and even if things turn and come forth centering on those True Parents, the whole of that family must stand up to the standard of a family that can stand in for the people. Otherwise, complete restoration through indemnity cannot be done. You must know that well.

Seen from this viewpoint, the Teacher must, representing all men throughout the six-thousand-year historical course until now, become the offering—and among offerings, the highest offering. That position is not some particular individual position. Nor is it a position representing only some family and clan, or only a people. It is a position of becoming the offering while representing the world and representing history.

In the course of history until now, countless men have come and gone. God worked, centering on many men, from Abel to Noah, Abraham, Moses, John the Baptist, and Jesus, but the Teacher must remain above them, inwardly and outwardly, vertically and horizontally. He must not stand in a shameful position when facing them. That is, representing all men, he must become the world-level fruit. You must know the fact that without standing in such a position, restoration through indemnity cannot be completely accomplished.

Then, seen centering on such a Teacher, what kind of place is the Unification Church?

For the Unification Church, greater than the mission of developing the Unification Church itself is the mission of becoming one with the Teacher who guides the Unification Church.

You must know that becoming one with the Teacher is a more important responsibility than anything—more than each person’s own responsibility. Without the standard by which one can become one with the Teacher being determined, the responsibility centered on oneself cannot be fulfilled.

Therefore, one must become completely one, centering on the Teacher, who, if a man is a man, and in becoming one, one’s own circumstances or position—that is, if a family, the environment in which one is placed in the family—must not become an issue. Crossing beyond all that environment, one must stand in a position of complete oneness.

In that place of oneness, there can be no gap whatsoever. Nothing whatever must be able to break through and pass here. It must be a completely accorded standard. Determining such a standard depends on whether you fulfill your responsibility; this is a grave problem.

Furthermore, one must become completely one, centering on the Mother, who is a woman. Because a woman cannot stand as a woman by herself, she must, without fail, stand upon that ground centering on the Mother. Therefore, you women and the Mother must become completely one. Only then is one’s own responsibility, which one must fulfil as a woman, fulfilled; so women must, without fail, become one centering on the Mother.

The Teacher’s Responsibility

Originally, history has come forth, putting man and woman in contact, centering on them. Therefore, man and woman must be connected at one starting point.

That connection must be made centering on the content called True Parents, and those True Parents must depart as the origin of history.

In other words, had history departed centering on Adam and Eve, it would have stretched out even to a world of eternal result; but because this went awry, one must make the origin of history anew.

Therefore, to make the origin of history anew, one must settle the history that has been spread out; and to achieve that, one must, without fail, bind together one man and one woman, centering on the tie of True Parents. Without doing so, one cannot cross over into a new historical age. This is the work the Unification Church must do in actuality today. You must know this.

Then what is the responsibility of the Teacher who is guiding the Unification Church?

It is to determine the tie of True Parents. This is an important mission that no one until now could conceive of. Therefore, to determine this, what kind of woman must the woman become, and what kind of man must the man become? That is, what kind of father must the Teacher himself become, and what kind of mother must the Mother become?

Without resolving this problem, neither the problem of the nation, nor the problem of the world, nor the problem of Heaven and earth is resolved. Therefore, this problem becomes the most important problem. Without concluding a complete victory from here, everything turns to naught, and God’s providence is again extended. That is why you must know that such a problem has been the standard along which an inner battle has been fought from 1960 until now.

For the two to become one is not simple. For one man and one woman to meet and become one is not a simple problem. All the problems of history are bound up here.

Seen centering on America and Korea today, between the two nations, there is a great deal of content that cannot be joined, however one tries. That is, the culture differs, the history differs, and all the structures of society differ. For these differing environments to become one just as they are is difficult. There are many reasons they cannot become one. Yet you must know that more difficult than this is the problem in which the content of indemnity is bound up—precisely the problem of these two becoming one.

If there is a pit here, that pit would be a pit deeper than any pit; and if there is a mountain, that mountain would be a mountain higher than any mountain. It is not something that can be seen with our flat sight, but a high mountain peak and deep valley that can be seen only in the world of the heart.

How does one set up the standard by which this can become level ground here?

The time when that standard is set up is when the True Parents appear upon this earth equipped with the tie, and the history until then is a history of sorrow. We must know the fact that such a course of indemnity is embedded in the history of humankind.

Seen from this point, Adam and Eve did not know the Will of the wish God sought to realize within His inner heart, centering on Adam and Eve.

Furthermore, though a history of sorrow was woven for four thousand years after the fall of Adam and Eve, countless human beings in that historical course did not know it either.

After four thousand years had passed, Jesus came and, on behalf of Heaven, as one man, had to take one woman and carry out all the historical ceremony of releasing han. But since even Jesus’ disciples did not know the inner hardship Jesus had to face in advancing while bearing the Will of God, to whom else could Jesus tell that work? He could tell no one.

That is why Jesus lamented, “I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?”If I have told you earthly things, and you believe not, how shall you believe if I tell you of heavenly things?” “I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.” That was because there was such an inner situation. Yet no one in the course of history until now knew the fact that there was such an inner situation.

The Path Unification Church Members Must Go

Today, if the Unification Church’s Teacher Moon himself does not know such an inner situation, he cannot carry out the history of indemnity. Then must he disclose that inner situation to you and discuss it? He must not. This is the responsibility of the parents. Because the parents did wrong, it is a problem that only one who can become the parents must resolve. It is a difficult problem, piled up layer upon layer, but seen outwardly it is not visible. Yet seen inwardly, many crisscrossed matters on a worldwide scale are embedded in it, so the path the True Parents must go is a path of coming forth after indemnifying all the matters embedded here.

Two thousand years ago, Jesus too sought to unfold such a Will. But because he knew all too well the situation in which the Will could not be unfolded, even when he received the sentence that he must be hung on the cross, he could resolve to cross over it without difficulty. God too, because the Will could not be established in that environment, could not but drive Jesus onto the path of death. You must know the fact that such matters are embedded in the deep places of the Unification Church today.

One can know this by seeing the outward aspect of the Unification Church that appears on the surface, but you must know the fact that behind the Unification Church, a historical tragedy that does not appear is inwardly encamped.

Seen from this point, if we ask whether there is anyone among Unification Church members who can be confident that, in a true sense, he has achieved a heartistic accord centering on such deep content, the answer is that there is none.

Then what kind of path is the path Unification Church members must go hereafter?

They must go the path that passes through the gate of True Parents. In any case, this gate must be passed. Without doing so, one cannot appear as a new lineage, as a new life body. In your passing through that gate, how you experience the inner situation of that deep valley becomes the issue. That is because it becomes important content that can determine one’s value in that world. You must know this.

The Teacher can now say such things because presently it is a time when the ridge can, to some degree, be crossed.

So now, in this place of crossing over toward the year 1970, centering on the Second Seven-Year Course, this must be completely crossed within the three years. I regard this September through October as the central period for crossing this.

In this process, you call the Teacher True Parents, and the foreign members also call the Teacher True Parents, but you do not know the content of the deep valley that those words signify. Yet, considering the content you have heard above, you must know that if True Parents are the object of everyone’s yearning, they are at the same time a fruit-body of suffering.

In other words, they are the ones who have appeared as the highest offering among those to be raised as offerings of indemnity along the way of the cross upon this earth. Only by bearing such sorrowful matters and crossing over that ridge of sorrow can the position of parents be completely determined.

Then, seen centering on the Principle, at what standard are the blessed families?

Because Adam and Eve fell at the completion level of the growth stage, in the course of Restoration too, the place that becomes the origin of the Blessing—by which one can be restored through the parents—is the completion level of the growth stage. Here one receives the Blessing. And after receiving the Blessing, to stand at the standard of the completion stage from there, one must pass through a period of seven years. This process the Teacher himself must pass through, and you must pass through it too. We all have a common destiny of having to pass through this process.

Therefore, in your going this path, what is it that can make you blessed?

It is to find the path by which, at any time, whether by night or day, one can cross the line of death and be completely in accord before the Father.

Once one finds only that path, one can go any other path, whatever. That path is one that neither one’s own husband can block nor one’s own wife can block. This is because that path is a path each person must go.

The Seven-Year Course Everyone Must Go

Up to the perfected position, it is a path Adam and Eve must each go as individuals.

So in going this path, the wife cannot restrain, the husband cannot restrain, and the sons and daughters cannot restrain. In going this path, there are no sons and daughters, no husband, and no wife.

Because every human being must pass through such a process, when all who have gone the path of the Way (도) until now enter a place of deep selflessness and have a spiritual experience, a providence of separation surely unfolds. That is, if such a person is the wife of some husband, a providence separating that husband occurs, and if such a person is a husband, a providence separating that wife occurs.

Furthermore, if such a person is in the position of a parent, a providence separating even the children occurs. Why is that? Because the Principle is so. Without doing so, one cannot go that path.

Therefore, the path one goes within the fallen realm is not a path gone with the family involved. One must forsake all and go. Because a historical destiny of having to go such a path remains in religion, countless people of the Way have lived celibate lives until now. Precisely to cross this one time, for thousands of years people of the Way have emphasized celibate life.

You too, as you attend the Unification Church, will surely run up against such a problem. That is why you must go the Seven-Year Course.

Then who must go the First Seven-Year Course?

The parents must go through it. Because Adam and Eve fell at the completion level of the growth stage, the parents must go that path—and centering on whom must they go? They go about it centering not on the man, if a man, or the woman, if a woman, but completely on God.

However much the form of a blessed family is equipped here, the form of that family must be one centered on God, not one centered on one man and one woman.

If things go against the Will, however close the two may be to each other, one must stand in a position of being able to remove those close elements and cross over.

This is a path that cannot be gone by the two mutually presenting feminine matters or masculine matters and passing them through from a fair position. One must go completely leaning toward Heaven’s side.

If one man is the subject, the woman must absolutely obey before him. Here, because content like the position of Cain and Abel unfolds centering on man and woman, if the man stands in Abel’s position, the woman in Cain’s position must absolutely obey before him. There must be no objection here.

If there is an objection, it brings that much hindrance. God has been carrying out such a providence until now.

The Seven-Year Course the Teacher passed through was also passed through such a process. Through such a process, he first set up the substantial condition of victory. Because this Seven-Year Course had to be passed, centering on conditions of indemnity, during this period the Teacher fought facing countless peoples, centering on the nation. He also fought centering on countless religious bodies.

Here, determining the condition of victory, one must, upon the ground of having subdued them, determine the standard of parents. Only after that can one proclaim God’s Day. In this way, God’s Day must be set up upon the ground of having restored the nation and people. Yet the God’s Day now set up in the Unification Church is a God’s Day within the Unification Church.

The Unification Church remains in the position of organizing the clan. Therefore, it is in a position of having to pass through the process of organizing the clan and organizing the people and hereafter becoming the offering before the nation. Once it passes through that process, the God’s Day within the Unification Church can appear as the God’s Day of the people and the God’s Day of the nation, so you must know that until then a course of battle remains for us.

In passing through the Seven-Year Course, just as Adam was the subject, the Mother must, without fail, become completely one, centering on the Teacher. She must absolutely obey before the Teacher. There can be no objection here. Yet there will be, as a woman, feelings as a woman, and in the family there will be many matters that arise from the position of the mother. But those matters are second- and third-order problems, not first-order problems.

In becoming one centering on the Teacher in this way, various complex contents such as the woman’s emotional problems are bound up in the first-order problem.

To break through this, the Teacher fought for seven years. During that time, the Teacher did not work for the church. He crossed over this ridge. Though you are fighting outwardly for the sake of the people, what forms the root behind it is this standard. Without determining this standard, however much one prepares a ground of victory for the people or a ground of victory for the nation, that ground of victory cannot remain as it is. So where lies the problem? It lies in the ground of True Parents.

Then what kind of place is the position of True Parents?

It is the place where Adam and Eve, becoming completely one centering on God, escaped Satan’s right of accusation. Only by rising to a position that has crossed the standard of completion, leaving behind no content by which Satan can accuse, does the origin of True Parents first arise.

This is the origin of True Parents seen from a Principled view. But a position befitting that view cannot be secured simply.

The Responsibility of the Blessed Families

Centering on such inner problems of the Unification Church, the Teacher proclaimed God’s Day, marking January 1, 1968. Of course, before this day, Parents’ Day, Children’s Day, and the Day of All Things were set up.

Because all these conditions were thus set up, by setting up God’s Day, Parents’ Day, Children’s Day, and the Day of All Things, a historical new departure was made. In the Unification Church, a new, historical departure of humankind was made. In this way, things have come forth until now.

Then what becomes of you?

To know this, one must first know how far the blessed families have risen. The blessed families have risen to the completion level of the growth stage. So the blessed families must depart from there. From there, the subject—that is, the man, if a man—must have absolute conviction. This means that centering on the parents, one must become completely one, as a man if a man.

Without becoming completely one with the parents, one must not become one merely between husband and wife. To become one between husband and wife, each must first be engrafted completely onto one root and then become one. In that place of oneness with the parents, there can be no reasons. When it is a command of the parents, one must know how to die if told to die. Without always being aware of a decisive consciousness that can freely come and go across the boundary of life and death, one cannot cross over this path.

When Jesus was about to die on the cross, he prayed,

“O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt” (Matt. 26:39).

That is a prayer he could offer because a consciousness that crosses beyond death was firmly established. There one can remove Satan. If one fights holding onto death, Satan is struck. Satan surrenders.

Seen from this point, the man who has a family today must become completely one with the Teacher. Here there is no consciousness of sin. Becoming completely one, one must depart from a subject position as the Teacher’s alter self. At this time the object, the wife, must become one with the subject and absolutely comply before him.

Then, among the families blessed until now, seen centering on their life, if we ask how many families can be said to be able to remain before Heaven, the answer is that there is not one family. You are now confronted with such a difficult problem. Yet this is a path one must go without fail. Therefore, you must, centering on the family, have husband and wife become completely one.

But they cannot become one by themselves. For husband and wife to become one, they must, without fail, advance centering on the family. Furthermore, for this family to remain, it must advance for the sake of the clan and have a fundamental tie that can connect with the clan, and to have such a fundamental tie, three sons are necessary.

Without a vertical standard, a family becoming one cannot connect a horizontal standard. And if a horizontal standard is not connected, one cannot form a clan-level tie centering on the family either. Therefore, to stand in a position of determining an inner family-level standard, one must, without fail, reinforce, on the external standard, someone who can fight in one’s stead, and then go.

Today the world is divided into two worlds: the satanic world and the heavenly world. The blessed families must absorb the remaining satanic world. For that work, I, who opposed Heaven’s side from Cain’s position, must now become one who supports Heaven’s side and can subdue those standing in the archangel’s position who oppose Heaven’s side. Without doing so, one cannot be indemnified. We have fought with such content until now.

The Standard of True Parents

The standard point of True Parents is one particular man. That man must, representing the countless men who erred in the course of the six-thousand-year providential history of Restoration—centering on every nation, if a nation, and every people, if a people—without fail hold the deciding authority of victory.

Upon the ground of having set up such an absolute standard, one must set up one relative standard. In other words, one must carry out the work of finding again, in full, everything that was lost because Eve was dragged away by Satan. Just as Eve was fashioned through Adam, the object of that man must be fashioned once more.

The Teacher has fought such a battle until now. You too, if you would receive the Blessing, must, without fail, cross over this standard. In crossing that standard, the Seven-Year Course is unavoidable. This seven-year ridge is there for everyone. If you fail to set up a definite standard during this Seven-Year Course, you are one who does not know the Principle.

What the Teacher has fought, offering his life until now, was to cross this ridge. This corresponds to the four-thousand-year history until now. Originally, at the time of Jesus, this should have been connected and the Seven-Year Course gone.

But because it could not be gone, two thousand years were extended, so this must be caused to reappear, and the historical course of indemnity corresponding to that four-thousand-year history must be walked.

Through the Principle of Restoration, the Teacher has clarified in full the content concerning Jesus and the unknown facts within the Bible. And he dug into the deepest places, from the family of Adam through the family of Noah, the family of Abraham, the course of Moses, and down to the age of Jesus. Therefore, just as a net that is large when spread out but can be grasped in one handful when held in the hand, you must sort out the content that can be grasped in one handful before the heartistic standard comes forth. Not only must you sort it out and know it, but you must also present it as a condition and determine victory in the satanic world.

That is why the Unification Church cannot but become an issue in the satanic world, and the Teacher cannot but become an issue for countless spiritually attuned people as well.

Furthermore, the Teacher must make all the many high heights within the four-thousand-year history into level ground and, centering on the heartistic standard, establish a victorious relationship in his relationship with God. And because the Teacher has established this and made an inner determination with no hindrance whatever, the world-historical course of indemnity can be determined today.

When the Teacher decides on some matter, that decision affects not only the world but even the spirit world. Such things can all be known if one asks spiritually attuned people. It fits not only the external world but even the spiritual world. That is why all the deep valleys within the four-thousand-year history must be filled, and the high mountain peaks cut down into level ground.

God has grieved facing our countless ancestors until now. He was betrayed and rejected by our countless ancestors. But the Teacher entered valleys deeper than the deep valleys of all such matters. Because he entered even the deep valleys the ancestors could not enter and stood in a position of being able to comfort God, you must know that the Teacher’s single word of comfort has set up a standard that can represent the comfort of the countless people who came and went upon the earth during six thousand years.

Yet you feel such facts far too vaguely. To say, “The Principle is so, but I do not feel it vividly,” is to be that distant. It is to have a heartistic distance. That is why you must, without fail, experience this standard.

To experience this standard, there must be spiritual experience, and to enter spiritual experience, one must pray. Not only must one pray, but one must, without fail, enter the enemy world and fight. It cannot be done by prayer alone. Centering on the Word, one must seek what is right and have the conviction to fight, staking one’s life.

Seen from this viewpoint, you must know that the Unification Church you have believed in until now is not the whole of what you know. You must know that here there is a deep valley entered by parting the veil and that there is deep content you do not feel in the course of history.

The Formation of a Nation Centered on God

We speak of the restoration of the people and the restoration of the nation. God has settled things in reverse until now to establish a people from a nation, a clan from a people, a family from a clan, and parents from a family. Until the time came, He carried out this work for two thousand years, centering on Christianity.

Now, as the time comes, a nation centered on Christianity is made, and within that nation, one clan is made, and one family is made. The history of this joining is carried out centering on 120 years.

That is why the present worldwide development is swayed over 120 years. Even within this period, a 40-year period becomes the issue, and when one comes forth centering on these 40 years, a 7-year period becomes the issue. Having thus woven everything outwardly, one must now settle horizontally, in full, what had been spread out over six thousand years—that is, what had been spread out vertically.

To settle this, one must establish one particular nation, a particular people, a particular clan, and a particular family, and set up an individual as a world-historical representative. Thereby, one must set up the vertical history horizontally on your side and settle it. For that, God made the worldwide Christian nation-sphere over six thousand years.

So, as the time comes, in this nation-sphere, one must cause all the errors that occurred in history to reappear and indemnify them from the archangel’s position.

This must become the history of the nation, people, clan, family, and individual. To weave such a history, there must be the returning True Parents. Those True Parents must, for the first time in history, resolve such problems and then go forward.

Then, seen regarding the Unification Church, what the Teacher always feels centering on the family is that there is no family but ours. There is no family but the Teacher’s family. And even within the Teacher’s family, there is no one but the Teacher. There are the Mother and the children too, but in accomplishing the Will, there is no one but the Teacher.

The Teacher’s family must become the representative of families and the representative of the clan, people, and world. The history of Restoration until now is a history of doing this. This is the same for the family of Adam and the family of Noah too. Together with the development of history, the family-level dimension is connected within the world-level course. Overall, it is the Teacher’s family that becomes the issue.

However much you say you have succeeded, that success must not be your success alone. With such success, nothing whatever can be settled. Furthermore, however much you say you will be loyal and give glory for God’s sake, you yourself must absolutely not become the motive.

Among you there will be those who think, “I will fulfill loyalty before the Will and hereafter offer everything as Heaven’s.” But that person is one who does not know the Principle. The issue is who has become the motive. The issue is by whom I am the “I” that I am. Even when you go out to witness, when we ask who has become the motive of the witnessing, the motive must not be yourselves. It must be God.

Furthermore, the result of what departed with Heaven as the motive must not become oneself. One who repeats such a thing more than three times has his way ahead blocked. Once the way is blocked and one loses strength, one can absolutely never find the way again. One must seek and enter a new condition of motive. The Teacher himself had such times too.

The Time and Place When God Is Present

God, without fail, prepares before the time comes. Just as an army drills in preparation for times of danger, and just as a nation totally mobilizes its citizens and has them drill in preparation for an emergency, before a decisive great time comes hereafter, there is, without fail, a time of drill. The drill is not carried out with God at the head. During that period, God completely departs. This is because Adam and Eve decided on the fall.

Then when is God present, and when does He have compassion?

It is a place where one is completely “left, only I.” It is a place where one remains alone, not the two. One must enter an exceedingly lonely place that cannot be described to anyone. One must enter even into a position with no hole to slip out through. You must know that each time one crosses a ridge, there is, without fail, such a place.

The path True Parents must go is not simple. One must go bearing the cross of the family and the cross of the clan, people, nation, and world. This is the path of destiny True Parents must go.

Furthermore, this path is not a path crossed with God’s cooperation but a path one must cross alone.

If God had cooperated and crossed together when Jesus bore the cross and crossed, there would be no indemnity. That is why one must cross alone from a position where God turns His face away. You must know that the path one must cross alone is a path this difficult and this wearisome.

You do not know well what the path of destiny that one who has taken responsibility must go is like.

It is a path the Mother does not know either. Yet in the process of going this path, one, without fail, comes to enter within a triangular zone; and once one enters within this triangular zone, where must one go? Retreating is simple. But if one gives up in despair, saying it is difficult to fulfill responsibility, and retreats, one completely perishes.

So by whatever means, one must go. If one retreats here, Satan is, without fail, set to approach. In your going this path, there will be many bewildering times. To cross that crisis, one must know this strategy well. And even knowing this, one must not forget that here a problem remains that one must fight resolved upon death.

Yet you have not known that until now. This period too is an important period you do not know. In this period, the destiny of the nation and the fortune of the world are entering toward one focal point. Domestic and international situations are all converging, centered on Christianity, marking July, August, and September. Here one must resolve the deciding authority representing the fortune of Heaven. This is not what God does; a human being must, without fail, do it.

If it were something God would do, He would already have done it all thousands of years ago. Therefore, a human being must rightly determine this.

The issue is not President Park’s making an inner resolve centering on the third-term problem, but that this is what determines the six-thousand-year history of Restoration until now and determines the Teacher’s life.

How to unravel this is a great problem. You must know that this is a period of fighting centering on such a problem.

No one knew this. Ten years have passed since the Seven-Year Course began, but none of you know such a problem. The Teacher has been carrying out an inner battle you do not know in this way. It is because he must pass through such a grave and momentous process.

This year too there is a very great ridge that must be crossed. In this process, since today is September 21, it is not far to September 30, which we have set.

The Teacher intends to go on devoting sincerity until October 14.

You, too, must pass through all the historical matters in this period. Knowing it so, you must work diligently.
