God’s Wish and Our Wish

Former Headquarters Church.

Matthew 26:36-46

As you all know, today is the last day and the last Sunday of 1967.

Moreover, this day is, for the Unification Church, the last day of passing over the long and tedious period called the seven-year course. And for the Teacher too, it is the last day that brings to a close the full twenty-one years since he set out following the Will.

God’s Ideal of Creation and the Fall of the Human Being

This last day of 1967 itself—we would have longed for it to be able to be greeted as the day of victory our Unification Church hoped for and to be greeted with joy and praise. And we ourselves too would have longed to be able to open our hearts, offer praise before God, and greet this day in the glorious figure of victors. This day is thus important.

And even seen in terms of God’s providential Will, this day is set as an important day that cannot be dispensed with on the path of providence.

We know the fact that the countless days from the beginning of history until now have not been days of joy but days linked with sorrow. But because there is one day of crossing over the seven-year pass, as today, the historical days hereafter can be turned over into a new content.

So what I wish to think about together with you today is the wish of Jesus and our wish, and, broadening the scope a little further, the wish of God—altogether, the wish of all beings. Let us think about that.

It was the ideal of creation that the Creator, having created Adam and Eve, our ancestors, would form a family of love centered on them; but because, by reason of the fall of Adam and Eve, the setting-out of a true family was not seen, true parents did not appear upon this earth, and because true parents did not appear, true children and true brothers could not be born. That is why the result came about that there could be no true clan, and no true nation, and no true world. This was not God’s original purpose of creation.

God’s original purpose of creation was to establish a good family centered on good parents, to establish good brothers centered on that family, and, connecting them, to organize a good clan and to have them found a good nation and thereby achieve a new world.

This was God’s purpose of creation, but because the sorrowful result of the fall of the human being was brought about, this great work of creation did not reach the standard it had aimed at, and the value of a true man and a true woman before Heaven and earth, such as God originally wished for, could not appear either.

We have until now not seen one figure of a true man and a true woman who could form a family, one figure that God could set up and boast of within this Heaven and earth. This is God’s han.

Then how will God carry on the providence of salvation for fallen human beings? There are now in this world countless peoples and nations living a life of faith, but if one asks whether among them there is even one person equipped with the figure of a true man and the figure of a true woman of the original world of creation whom God seeks, there is none.

Since losing Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, He has until now not met a true man and a true woman.

However splendid a human being and however good a human being, because he was born inheriting the blood of the fallen ancestors and set out from the fundamental sorrow caused by the fall, he cannot cross over that standard of sorrow and cannot cross over the han (恨) of the fall.

That is, the human being has become unable to escape from the sphere of Satan’s accusation. In other words, human life has ended up as a life that remains within the sphere of Satan’s dominion.

The Highest Purpose of God’s Providence of Salvation

However devout a believer today, Satan can accuse him at any time and stands in a position where, the moment he is caught on some condition, Satan can say, “You are mine,” and snatch him away.

All humankind has until now been placed in such a position. Seen thus, we must know that God has until now not been able to find and set up one true man He so longed for and wished for, nor has He been able to find and set up one true woman.

If so, then for what did God work (役事) the six-thousand-year history (歷史)?

Of course, outwardly, He unfolded the history of the providence to save individuals, peoples, and clans. But what has been unfolded outwardly is not in direct relationship with God.

We must clearly know that they are individuals, clans, peoples, nations, and worlds in an indirect relationship, not individuals, families, clans, peoples, nations, and worlds in a direct relationship with God.

Then where is the true individual, the true family, the true clan that can form a direct relationship with God?

That must without fail be achieved on this earth and must be sought on this earth. Although this is God’s wish, upon this earth, a true individual, a true man, a true woman, has until now not appeared.

Unless such a true individual appears, the root of the true ancestor of world humankind cannot be set down on this earth.

However much the people of Israel, centered on the clan of Jacob, profess to be a set-apart people, that people is not God’s direct-lineage people but a people that can be no more than an adopted son.

Just as Cain and Abel, the sons of Adam, were both equally sons, yet one was treated as a son and the other was not treated as a son, such a thing is occurring today too. When one looks at the religious people of the world today, especially the Christians, they have not crossed beyond the position of an adopted son.

Then just what sort of being is an adopted son?

An adopted son is a being of a different lineage. Christians may be able to call God Father, but this is a Father called from the position of an adopted son.

That is why it is a position where God too must read the other’s mood, and that adopted son too must read the mood. An adopted son is not in a position where, inwardly (內情的) boiling up, he can commune with God with a heart welling up from the marrow of his bones, but in a position where he can commune through some outward circumstance. Such a position is not a position where the heart can commune, as in the relationship between a father and his son.

That is why, however well one has believed in Jesus until now and, saying one has been saved, gone to the other world, one has not been able to enter the Kingdom of Heaven but has entered only Paradise. That is because the place called Paradise is a place adopted sons go to.

So the adopted-son peoples must be converted into direct-lineage peoples—but how are they set up?

God’s original purpose was not to set up the human being in the figure of an adopted son. But because the human being fell, God came to face the human being in the figure of an adopted son, and God sought to sever that adopted lineage and once again face the figure of a direct-lineage child. This is the purpose of God’s providence of salvation. And this problem is complex.

Otherwise, the period of God’s providence of salvation would not have needed to take as long as six thousand years.

The purpose for which God has until now carried on the providence of salvation is to make one true son who can be set up as direct lineage. To find and set up upon this earth one true direct-lineage son, not an adopted son, is the highest purpose of God’s providence of salvation. That son was not Jacob, nor Abraham, nor Moses, nor John the Baptist.

Then who came to stand in that son’s place?

The one who appeared as the terminal fruit in the four-thousand-year history of the providence was precisely Jesus, who was born as God’s first direct-lineage son.

The Prerequisite for Becoming the Messiah

Then what must Jesus do before he becomes the Messiah, the Savior of all people?

Jesus must go through the procedure of becoming God’s direct-lineage son. Adam and Eve were first created and born as God’s son and daughter, but because that qualification was snatched away by Satan, they could not be enrolled as sons and daughters who could stand completely on God’s side.

In other words, it was not because they were not born, nor because they did not inherit God’s mind-nature as much as Jesus. It was because they fell. That is, because their bodies were wounded and cracked and broken to pieces, they could not be enrolled.

That is why the prerequisite for becoming the Messiah of all people is that one must be enrolled as God’s son. To be enrolled as a son, one must first heal all the wounded parts.

From such a position, Jesus had to resolve the fact that countless individuals, families, clans, and nations were stained with sin and evil and caught on the conditions of Satan’s accusation, and he had to strip away completely the han left by those sacrificed to Satan and lost as offerings to evil and the yoke of submission to Satan placed upon all the world’s humankind.

Otherwise, one cannot go through the procedure of becoming God’s son.

Today’s Christian believers do not know that Jesus had such a tremendous mission. They think that if one only believes, one goes to heaven. If so, how simple a thing it is!

If there was something Jesus inwardly longed for, what would it have been?

It was to go forth to a position where, as a prince of victory before God, he could inherit God’s full authority on earth; and for that, he had to be able to compile a genealogy that God acknowledges, from the position of the family, the position of the people, the position of the nation, and the position of the world within the sphere of God’s love.

That does not come about simply. Then how must it be done? Only when one can completely indemnify all that Adam and Eve fell into and all the han their fallen descendants left before God in the course of history, can one stand in the position of an ancestor who founds a new Israel and at last appear in the position of a true parent who sets out anew centered on God’s love.

The human being, by standing in that position of parent, can at last receive the heavenly inheritance. That is Jesus’ marriage of the Lamb. In other words, one must pass through the place of the Blessing that the Unification Church speaks of today. That is, one must receive the Blessing from God.

Because Adam and Eve—that is, God’s one man and one woman—fell, one must, centered on God’s love, cleanly liquidate the defiled blood of love and boldly block Satan, who accused and presented the conditions of the offering in the course of history until now. Thereby, one must decide the position of a complete man and a woman who can enter the glorious world where God alone intervenes. Without passing through the place of thus receiving the Blessing, one cannot set out on the course of Restoration toward the Kingdom of Heaven.

This was God’s wish. That is why Jesus, to achieve this wish for Him, had to win at the difficult passes of the fight with Satan, staking the individual, family, clan, people, nation, and world that appeared in the four-thousand-year historical course, and staking everything that had been presented as conditions of accusation, and thereby cross over the four-thousand-year history with the authority of that victor.

The words “cross over the four-thousand-year history” mean that Jesus had to take the people of Israel into his hands and govern them. But Jesus could not do so. Then why could Jesus not do so?

If one asked Christians these days what must be chosen before choosing the people of Israel, they would say it is the apostles, or Judas Iscariot. But it is not them. Before choosing the people of Israel, Jesus had to choose the family of Joseph.

Originally, when God sent Jesus, He sent him upon a clan foundation. That is, because He found and set him up as a descendant of David, of the family of David, of the clan of David, Joseph had to obey Jesus absolutely for the sake of the descendant of David.

Jesus, thus standing in a victorious position upon a clan foundation, had a mission to find and set up a people before God, but that clan foundation collapsed entirely.

Moreover, even John the Baptist, Jesus’ maternal cousin, was likewise. Though born within the same kinship and the same clan sphere, he acted as he pleased and, in the end, forsook Jesus.

Thus, by reason of the mistake of the family of Joseph, the foundation of the clan of David, prepared over four thousand years, all vanished. That clan came to stand in a position of no relation whatever to Jesus.

So, having no choice, in place of the clan foundation, he found and set up the fisherman Peter.

You must know Jesus’ forlorn heart, that he had to find and set up even a fisherman like this. What is the use of merely praising, “O Jesus Christ, Son of God,” without knowing these circumstances?

Jesus’ Yearning

Jesus came as God’s son to save all the people upon this earth, but because he could not resolve the heavenly procedures by which he could boldly stand before all people, he came to be driven by them. And so, in the end, coming to a position where he could not but bear the cross, he prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane.

He prayed,

“O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.” (Matt. 26:39)

But Jesus had to complete his position as the Messiah in this way.

Jesus came to this earth as the representative of all people to redeem all people. That is why, from that position of representative, holding the authority to subjugate Satan completely, he could stand boldly before God in place of all people; there would be no condition whatever by which Satan could accuse. But it was not that there was no condition before Jesus by which Satan could accuse.

That is why Jesus had to go through such heavenly procedures again. So how grave and forlorn must the heart of Jesus, who had to go from such a position, have been?

Though great was the toil God did and the toil the successive generations of the people of Israel did in the four-thousand-year Israelite historical course, we must know this aggrieving fact—that Jesus, who came as the protagonist who was to integrate all that, found a new Israel and constructed a new Heaven and earth, a new Kingdom of Heaven, far from setting out anew, had to collapse on the road of the cross.

The clan specially set up before Heaven—that is, the clan of David—is in the Abel-type position, and the people of Israel are in the Cain-type position. Therefore, seen providentially, only when the Cain-type people of Israel become completely one with this Abel-type clan of David upon this earth, centered on Jesus, is a national foundation of a victorious base at last set up before Jesus.

Had the branch of the clan of David that stood in place of the people and Jesus become one body, a substantial foundation would have been formed centered on Jesus. Unless this substantial foundation is formed, a foundation for the Messiah is not created. The Principle is set up so.

But because the priests, the scribes, and the whole Jewish religious body raised the flag of revolt against Jesus, the Cain-type Israel-type (型) was fundamentally shattered. So, entering the satanic sphere, Satan directly attacks the clan in the Abel position.

Jesus, having thus lost the clan foundation, was placed in a destiny in which he could not avoid the persecution of the people, however he tried, and, driven this way and that, in the end came even to the cross.

So Jesus, to escape this by any means, clung to the twelve disciples and pleaded desperately and prayed even in the Garden of Gethsemane. But because he could no longer trust all twelve disciples, he chose only three among them whom he could trust to the last upon this earth, took them to the Garden of Gethsemane, and prayed a final decisive prayer over whether Heaven would break or the earth would break. And yet, even in that hour of settling so grave a matter, those disciples were sleeping. They were sleeping, I say.

The disciples did not know in what sort of position Jesus was suffering agony. So how much must Jesus have yearned for someone who could be in a position of oneness with himself?

The Sin of the People of Israel and Its Forgiveness

Jesus, alone, was in a position where he could go before God and be one with God, but the disciples were in that place where they could be one with Satan in the same way. This is precisely the tragedy of the human world.

Who is Jesus?

Jesus is the one who came as the true father of humankind. Today, upon this earth, false parents have arisen, and because those false parents became God’s enemies, all this must be found again. That is why new parents, True Parents, must appear.

That is, an unfallen Adam and Eve must come again to this world so that through that Adam and Eve the condition can be set up that humankind of this earth has been born anew. Without doing so, one cannot even have the bond of an adopted son. That is why in Christianity it is said that unless the fallen human being is born again—that is, unless he undergoes rebirth—he cannot go to the Kingdom of Heaven.

Rebirth means being born twice. Because one came out wrongly, one must be born again. This tremendous, sorrowful, and pitiable fact remains on the course of our human life, which must be resurrected.

Jesus came to this earth as the Savior of all people and, at the same time, as the Father of all people.

God is a God of love.

If the God of love would save fallen humankind, by what would He save them?

If, when God sends the Savior, He sends him as a servant, then He is a God who treats us human beings as no more than servants. In that case, we human beings too could not but believe in God only to the extent of a servant’s responsibility, from the status of a servant. And even if He sent us the Savior in the position of a brother, that could not be God’s complete love.

Then what is a position higher than the position of a brother?

It is that the position of being equipped with the qualification of a father and seeking a son on this earth is the highest standard. That is why Jesus came to this earth in the name of the Savior, but the content was that he came to seek true children, holding the bond of the true father of humankind.

But the children beat the father to death. In history until now, Cain killing Abel was a han-filled thing too, yet they committed even the sin of a son beating the father to death. That is why today’s countless humankind, however good a person may be, cannot but receive the judgment of the public law of Heaven.

To the Messiah who came, bearing the providential responsibility to save the fallen peoples—Satan aside, one and all—that is, to the Savior who came to set us up as His true sons and daughters and take us to the complete Kingdom of Heaven, far from gladly attending and treating him well, they beat him to death….

It is the human beings upon this earth who hold such a lineal bond. That is why, however wooden and stony a person, when he comes to know the fact that he killed the father and repents, he cannot but wail. That is a lamentable thing and a condition that cannot be permitted before God, but if there be sons and daughters who, coming to know that they beat the father to death, truly repent of it and wish to receive its penalty with a thousand and ten thousand thanks, then, because God is a God of love, He forgives, they say.

The Mission of the Lord at the Second Advent

That is why Christianity cannot but be a religion of tears. You must clearly know this.

And yet they say, “If one only believes, one goes to the Kingdom of Heaven,” so such people are all fake. When one looks at them, they are forlorn beyond compare.

Then what should Jesus have done to avoid death?

That God, after four thousand years, sent Jesus upon the foundation of the chosen people of Israel was so that Jesus might take charge of the people of Israel and realize the idea of the Kingdom of Heaven—that is, the idea of the earthly Kingdom of Heaven.

That is why the Israelite scribes, together with the king of Israel and the whole people of Israel, had to go before Jesus and give notice that they would achieve the wish God wished and offer it before Him.

Had Jesus and the clan thus become one, and that clan and the people become one, and the whole of that people become one and form a nation, then Satan could not accuse them.

If, from the position of an adopted son, one was disloyal and disobedient before God, one is caught on the condition of accusation; but if, centered on Jesus, God’s direct-lineage son, one became completely one, it is the same as standing in a place engrafted to Jesus.

So, if Jesus made one centered on God’s lineage, and the whole people of Israel become one, Satan cannot accuse. Thus, Jesus came with the mission to complete the procedures for becoming the Messiah upon this earth, restore Israel before God’s Will, and, going further, accomplish the restoration of the world. But because of the opposition and persecution of all the people of Israel, Jesus too could do nothing further.

The First Israel was made by circumcision, and the Second Israel was made by Christianity, the spiritual Israel.

So Christianity became a religion without a nation. And yet Christianity, while thus wandering the world and suffering persecution and sacrifice before countless peoples, made much contribution to overcoming worldwide tribulations.

Jesus came with a mission to find and set up one son and daughter, one clan, possessing a nation upon this earth. But because Jesus was forsaken upon this earth, he could not set up a substantial foundation but could set up only a spiritual foundation. And so what set out to found the Second Israel with the spiritual world as its base is the New Testament gospel.

Originally, the human being becomes a complete human being only through spirit and body. But if Jesus remains only in the position of a spiritual parent, he is in a position where he can do only spiritual salvation, only half of salvation. That is why, to grant the remaining half of salvation—that is, physical salvation—the Lord at the Second Advent must come to this earth.

Thereby, that Lord at the Second Advent, unifying into one the spirit-people who passed on believing in Jesus and the Christians scattered throughout the world and offering them before God, can bring about the setting-out of the Third Israel.

To become the spiritual Second Israelite people, one had to pass through baptism, but to become the Third Israel centered on the Lord who is to come, one cannot but pass through the gate of the Blessing.

Because one fell by reason of the wrong love of Adam and Eve, to indemnify and restore this, one must, centered on God’s love, form the bond of bridegroom and bride through the gateway of the Blessing. Otherwise, one cannot go to the Kingdom of Heaven.

Jesus, too, failed to fulfill such a responsibility. Unless the Savior appears again and performs this work, unless one passes through the root of all things upon the earth, there is no way to put in order the tangle upon this earth. So one must fulfill the responsibility for it.

The Human Being Is a Being of Dual Purpose

Jesus had not only to complete his individual responsibility but also to set up an indemnity condition that could stand in place of the victory of all individuals and had to run to set up the whole of the indemnity conditions that could stand in place of the family, clan, people, nation, world, and Cosmos.

Such a position is the position of the core of the individual, family, clan, people, nation, world, and Cosmos, and a position that receives the attention of the universe. That is why he had to draw out all the historical conditions and make the final decision with Satan.

This was the last fight by which Jesus sought to decide the three-year public ministry, the last three of his thirty-three years of life, but because Jesus was driven and pursued and died, it failed.

Jesus had to stand in the place of vowing individual victory and in the place of vowing family victory, clan victory, and national victory. You must know this.

When one looks at Unification believers today, they speak the Principle well with their mouths, but they fail to live the inner life of setting up indemnity conditions.

For individual perfection—that is, for the individual to rest upon the foundation of the family—the individual’s indemnity condition alone will not do.

Only when one has set up even the family’s indemnity condition can the individual rest, because then Satan cannot invade that family. That is, one must achieve the dual purpose.

This is because the human being, when he is an individual, requires not only the individual but the family, and when there is a family, requires the clan, and the clan the society, and the society the nation—he holds a dual purpose. Therefore, one must not lay only a foundation of victory for the sake of the perfection of one's individual self alone.

For the individual to stand, one must, centered on the enclosure of the family, win and lay a place where Satan cannot accuse.

Only by entering that place can one rest. And for the family to be protected, one must bear the clan-level cross, present the clan-level indemnity condition, and win over Satan; only then can the family enter upon that foundation. This is likewise because of the dual purpose.

Then, for the clan to enter, what had to be done?

For the clan to enter, one had to present the national-level indemnity condition.

Unless the Israelite clan became one with Jesus and set up the national-level indemnity condition, that clan could not rest. In the process of preparing for such a fight, Jesus was driven and died on the cross.

So in the end, not one of the individual standard, family standard, clan standard, national standard, and state standard was achieved upon this earth. That is why Jesus must come again to this earth.

The Jesus who comes again must not come riding on the clouds, as the Christians say. He must come as a person. We Unification believers must make those who until now believe that the Jesus who comes again comes riding on the clouds understand.

In the human world, there are many cases where the true seems false, and the false seems true, but if the truth does not fit reason, it is not truth.

To heal with a true conscience, there must be content more true than the true conscience. Though the Unification Church is treated as heresy today, wait and see. Let us wait and see about all the Christians of the world.

Which of the true and the false remains, and which is defeated?

From of old, the true has been persecuted, driven, and pursued before the false.

So in the terminal age (終熄時代) of history, it stands to reason that the true sufferer has grievances worldwide. But God leaves the truth in such a place and sets it up later. This is a fact. The false is false to the very end.

But come riding on the clouds? What would Jesus do, coming riding on the clouds?

Jesus came as the true ancestor of humankind, but he did not save fallen humankind. He did not achieve the setting-out of a family centered on God’s law and love—a family that, passing through the public law of Heaven and earth that God can certify and receiving the idea of the creation of Heaven and earth as its great work, could connect God’s love throughout all Heaven and earth, arouse in all people love toward God, and glorify God. Jesus had to achieve such things upon this earth.

The human being fell in the Garden of Eden wearing a body. And yet the Christians understand it far too fancifully. Do they go to the Kingdom of Heaven that way?

Can they go to the Kingdom of Heaven?

They cannot even go to hell. Just try all dying! Once you die, you will know. At that time, you will need the Teacher. When one thinks that, in following the Will, the Teacher has for several decades been persecuted and opposed by such human beings, it is infuriating and mortifying. Had it not been so, the Republic of Korea would not have become as wretched as this, and the Communist Party would all have perished in the Teacher’s grip….

One must not be spineless like a boneless worm, all right with this and all right with that.

What are the true and the false?

Now the time has come when one can compare the true and the false and probe their capacity and true worth. That is why, if it is evil, one must smash it.

Let Us Liberate God

When Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane,

“Abba, Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me…!”

He did not pray sleepily and vaguely, but prayed earnestly, indeed with a heart-rending, agonized heart in which his very spirit stood on end. Because Jesus knew God’s circumstances—that hereafter countless myriad lives had to be saved—he prayed a grave prayer from a position of hoping for sympathy. Jesus had such circumstances. The Christians, not knowing even Jesus’ circumstances—well, will they become the bride of Jesus? It is appalling.

Only when the one person Jesus lives do countless individuals come alive, and countless families receive liberation, and the clan of David and the Jewish people live, and by reason of that Jewish people, all people come alive.

Moreover, the world lives, Heaven and earth live, and God comes to receive liberation. Because the Teacher says such things, they call it heresy. When one says that God receives liberation, they say, “Has God until now been bound? But God has until now been bound.

We call God Father. When that God the Father sees the forlorn history, revolving like a turning wheel, in which the sons and daughters upon the earth cry out that they are dying, and sees everyone, good person and evil person alike, dancing and reeling under the power of evil, would He say, “Aigo, wonderful! Well done!”

Because that Father is a Father who has the bond of father and son with us, He cannot but strain and fight to remove the inwardly bound place of all Heaven and earth, the inwardly forlorn and wretched environment. Therefore, we must know all such inner circumstances of God and liberate God from such a place.

For that, it is not enough that the Republic of Korea—or, to speak of that time, the Jewish nation—alone be liberated. Centered on that liberated Jewish nation, one must liberate the world and destroy this world of hell, this satanic world.

Thereby, the beings on earth, the beings in Heaven—that is, all beings—must be able to raise a shout filled with rapture that they have been liberated from the sphere of Satan’s accusation. Unless God comes to a position where He can face all things from such a position, God cannot grant liberation.

Who would have known that Jesus had such tremendous circumstances?

When, hastening his pursued body up the Mount of Olives, he prayed a blood-soaked prayer of struggle, there was not one person who understood those circumstances, and when he was persecuted, driven all alone from this village to that village, there was no one who understood those circumstances either.

Even his parents did not know. And yet do they attend Mary? When one sees such people, one’s insides turn over. In the Gospel of John, even his younger brothers reproached Jesus. They sneered, saying,

“Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest. For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, shew thyself to the world.” (John 7:3-5)

So how pitiable must they have seemed in Jesus’ eyes, that he said,

“A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house”? (Matt. 13:57)

Did Jesus achieve all the Will this way?

Who knew the appalling circumstances of Jesus, who, driven and pursued, had no choice but to greet the road of the cross?

Had Teacher Moon of the Unification Church not come forth today, the circumstances of the pitiful Jesus could not have been brought to light.

Because Jesus came through history, he had to live and go together with the history of the world.

If Jesus wins, it accompanies not only individual victory but the victory of the world. And if Jesus achieves the Will, not only the individual Will but the worldwide Will is completed.

Jesus thus came to this earth as one being who could weigh the world in the balance, but his single self vanished wretchedly like dew.

The People of Israel, Made Wretched Because They Failed to Attend Jesus

When the footsteps of Jesus, who came as the father of humankind, turned toward the road of death, there was not one person who came forth to grasp his hand and say he would go together, and there was not one person who said he would die on the cross first. There was not one person who barred the way and sympathized with Jesus, who, having come as a parent to the human world, was aggrievedly driven to the road of death.

Having killed him so wretchedly, what is the use of prizing that dead Jesus?

It is just like failing to be filial while one’s parents are alive and, after they have passed away, going to the grave and weeping and wailing this and that. You must know that people who prized the dead Jesus more than they prized the living Jesus perished.

Filial devotion is not something done after one dies. Loyalty is not something done after one dies. It must be done while one is alive.

Though they were children who ought to have received God’s governance throughout all Heaven and earth and a people that ought to have founded the heavenly nation through God, when the hope for these children and the aspiration for this people were all destroyed and flew away, how sorrowful must Jesus’ heart have been?

Was it to make the people of Israel, whom He set up while making them suffer so for four thousand years and to whom He made the promise to send the Messiah, into such a wretched people in the end? No. It was precisely because the people of Israel failed to attend to Jesus that they became a wretched people.

If one kills the king of a nation, one is called a traitor. But since they killed one who was their father, the king of that nation, the central being of Heaven and earth, the great king of Heaven and earth, what sort of sin is this sin called, and by what will that sin be indemnified?

Because of that sin, the people of Israel wandered as vagrant wayfarers for several thousand years and suffered wretched hardship.

Now, the time being fulfilled, the Israel liberation movement has arisen too, but because in history they committed too great a sin, unless the Lord at the Second Advent comes to this earth and prays that this people be liberated, liberation does not come. Therefore, you must know that when the time for Israel to be liberated comes, the Lord comes to this earth and works. But does the Lord come riding on the clouds? That is absolutely not so. Stake your life and pray for about forty years. Then you will come to know whose word is the truth.

Jesus went without taking charge of the individual and one who left such marks upon the earth without taking charge of the family, the clan, the people, and the world. Because Jesus failed to take charge of the individual, one must again take charge of the individual, take charge of the family, take charge of the clan and the people, take charge of Israel, take charge of the world, take charge of the Cosmos, and open the heavenly way.

It is to bring all these things to completion that the Lord at the Second Advent comes. But can he do so coming as a spirit? And yet this crowd of blockheads… Just wait and see, I say.

Jesus, Who Passed Away Without Finding a Bride

When the Teacher, crossing over the twenty-one-year pass, comes to think, had there not been such a pass, our Unification Church would have taken over this tremendous great work of the Cosmos and laid a religious foundation upon this three-thousand-ri peninsula from which it could command the world. And yet, when one thinks of our forlorn plight—that we have become a multitude left in a forlorn valley of tears, having to put ourselves in order anew and set out for the expedition to a new world—it is appalling. You must know that.

We must avenge the enemy. We must smash the wall of the enemy that blocks Heaven and Earth. As long as there is strength in my flesh and my blood boils, we must, at this last decisive battlefield to subjugate this satanic world, vow this moment that there will be no retreat, but only advance and assault.

For Jesus to become a father, there must be a mother.

For what did Jesus come as a man?

The one testament Jesus made as death drew near was,

“I am the bridegroom, and you are the bride.”

This was not fulfilled. A testament is the most important matter in that family and the last important matter a father leaves before his children. You must know that Jesus died seeking a bride and not finding one.

From such a position, it was as well for the sake of setting up the Will of Heaven that Jesus met and spoke with the Samaritan woman at the well, speaking while thinking of a being who could become a mother for the founding of Israel. No one will know such circumstances of Jesus. At that time, the custom of the Jewish nation, like the custom of Korea, had no word for women.

Who would know the heart of one who goes bearing the mission of having to find a mother to achieve the Will of God from such a position?

Overall, no one woman could attend to him up to the standard Jesus wished for.

An environment was not prepared in which Jesus, from a position where the heavenly mind (天心) and heavenly heart (天情) that love the nation, the people, and the world commune, could form a bond as God’s son and daughter.

The three wise men from the East who came when Jesus was born were in the position of servants, not in the position of a bride. Since Jesus came as a father, he had to find and set up a mother.

Because Eve fell, the root of sin coming down from the ancestors is in women. That is why women have, until now, walked a wretched road historically. Until this root of sin is pulled out, women are not liberated. Though since the Second World War ended, a women’s liberation movement has arisen, it will not come about so easily.

Because Eve, who was to become the mother, fell and gave rise to sin, one must indemnify such historical sin and become a being who can become the mother.

Thereby, passing again through the toil of childbirth, one must prepare the victorious authority of indemnity and lay a victorious standard by which one can attend the bridegroom. Unless such a woman appears, the Messiah cannot ascend as the fatherly Messiah. Accordingly, there can be no women’s liberation either.

We must now, two thousand years later, achieve the wish of Jesus, who two thousand years ago failed to fulfill such a mission and passed away on the cross. In the first round, we sought to achieve it centered on the Jewish people but could not, so now, in the second round, centered on the worldwide extent of Christianity, we must be able to realize the meeting of the father and the mother for Him.

Without preparing such a basis point (基點), one cannot become God’s true direct-lineage son and daughter. That is why it is the ideal of the Second Advent to connect and match such a standard. In the ideal of the Second Advent too, only when there is a true family does the heavenly way set out, and only when there is this does the setting-out of true love and true happiness come about.

Is your family a family formed by God’s certified love?

It is not. Your family is a family in which the father and mother were joined by the fallen love-bond of the satanic world. What was born in such a family is precisely you.

So your bloodline is different. It is like something decadent born between a father driven out by a robber and a mother violated. Overall, it has become an adulterer (姦夫) who does not even know whether God exists, a people of adulterers, a society of adulterers.

The Kingdom of Heaven Is a Place Parents and Children Enter Together

That is why it has taken six thousand years until now. Even so, God sought to restore, by whatever means, the heart by which He could regard the human beings stained with the fall as His sons and daughters, and that took six thousand years.

In other words, it took six thousand years to set up a standard for restoring the heart by which God could designate the child of an adulterer as His own son and daughter.

One will retort: God, who has much power, what reason is there for it to take as long as six thousand years?

But because God is the subject of love centered on the requisites of happiness, even God can do nothing here. That is why it took six thousand years. Only when this is done is Jesus the Messiah at last.

Today’s Christians say that if one only believes in Jesus, one goes to heaven. But Jesus told the thief on his right that you and I would reach Paradise—when did he ever say one goes to heaven?

He was on the point of going to heaven, but could not go to heaven and went only to Paradise.

The Kingdom of Heaven is a place that the whole family enters together—a place where the human being, not having fallen, holds a Holy Wedding upon this earth in the bosom of God’s love, welcomes sons and daughters God likes and grandchildren God can rejoice in, receives God’s love, and then all enter together.

If the children cannot enter, is it the Kingdom of Heaven if only one person enters?

But Paradise is a place that, however loving a husband and wife or parents and children, one enters separated. It has no relation whatever to the family.

Is such a place the Kingdom of Heaven?

The world in which one attends to one’s parents and the whole family all enter and can give and receive centered on God—that is the Kingdom of Heaven. While the son is making a fuss that he is dying in hell, would it do for the parents to live well in the Kingdom of Heaven? Is such a place the Kingdom of Heaven?

What the Unification Church presents is not such a thing. It presents the road by which even hell can be liberated.

What is the transformation of Heaven and Earth?

What sort of people are those equipped with the qualification to take part in the first resurrection?

They are those who have passed through the gate of the Blessing. That is why even octogenarians must have a second spring (再逢春). It may sound strange, but it means that grandmothers and grandfathers, too, must marry again. That is because, to found the Third Israel nation and to become a people of the Third Israel nation, one cannot but pass through the gate of the Blessing.

You understand now what the wish was of Jesus, who passed away in the attempt to go through this process?

Then is it the wish of Jesus alone?

No. It is also the wish of all of us. Going further, it is also the wish of God. That is the marriage feast of the Lamb. When one becomes a one-man and one-woman who, born as God’s sons and daughters and grown to maturity, have at last achieved God’s wish within Heaven and earth and perfected their individuality, the marriage of the Lamb is God’s marrying them, saying, “Live in My bosom forever and ever.” You must know this.

Even among Unification believers today, some consider the Blessing to be the Teacher taking maidens and bachelors, praying for them, and holding a group wedding for them. They do not know the importance of the Blessing. It is truly an appalling thing. One must receive the Blessing knowing its value.

One must know that by receiving the Blessing, one comes to stand in the position of the people of the Third Israel. Everyone, now that you know the meaning and value of the Blessing, can a person who has not received the Blessing be called a true Unification believer?

Are unmarried people treated as adults?

Even in the human world, when a maiden dies, she is called the ghost of an unmarried woman, and when a bachelor dies, he is called a bachelor ghost. That is not something someone made. The heavenly way is set up so.

Now Is the Time When God’s Wish Is Achieved

The human being must not remain only in me. From me, one must go forth, passing through three stages. These are me, the object partner, and the child.

This relationship of me, the object partner, and the child centered on God is the Four Position Foundation. And to complete this, the Four Position Foundation is God’s purpose of creation. Because Jesus failed to achieve this Four Position Foundation, he is lamenting.

We have now come to know what Jesus’ wish was. And we have come, going around six thousand years, to the completion level of the growth stage—that is, to the place of the Blessing.

Then what sort of time is it now?

Now is the highest time when God’s wish is achieved, the time when the han of God, who has toiled for six thousand years, ceases, the time when the wish of the son of God who came to this earth and toiled—that is, Jesus—is achieved. Not only that, it is the time when love begins, centered on the family of that son, and the time when all things can receive rapture, honor, and glory.

How glad must this day be for God too! It is the day of greeting a bright Heaven and earth where sin and evil have all vanished and the sun of light has risen, the day of greeting a clear morning, a morning of victory, when all nature harmonizes and rejoices and all animals dance.

For God, who walked the wretched historical course with han and sorrow and crossed over the most tedious of passes, the day of greeting that liberation is a more joyful day than would have been greeting that day without having fallen in the Garden of Eden.

When one thinks of God’s position—that to greet this day He has until now driven countless prophets and righteous forebears to the road of death and endured to make, upon the altar He has dragged along for six thousand years, sons and daughters who could win—how thankful a day, how good a day, how joyful a day this day is!

If such a person appears, Heaven and earth will stir, and all Heaven and earth will hold a feast.

Will they hold only the marriage feast of the Lamb?

They must hold a feast of liberation, too. The day that can liberate from the anguish, pain, and suffering, second only to death, that has been felt from the fall of the human being until now is the day of the Blessing, the day of the Holy Wedding.

Because Eve, who was to stand in the position of the Holy Spirit, fell first, Christians believe that women undergo the pain of childbirth and bear children, but that is not the case. Because it was Eve who fell, women must do the toil of bearing humankind again. You must understand the meaning of these words well.

The Holy Spirit is the Mother Spirit. That is why humankind upon the earth is resurrected by reason of receiving the Holy Spirit. Because the Holy Spirit is the Mother Spirit, she yearns for Jesus, the Father Spirit, as her bridegroom.

Therefore, fallen human beings, when they receive the Holy Spirit and pass through the flame of the love of Jesus, the bridegroom whom the Holy Spirit yearns for, set out as owners of spiritual life.

Without a wellspring of love, new life cannot be born. God absolutely does not carry on the providence of salvation recklessly, departing from the principle of heavenly law.

In the resurrection of the precious life of human life, who would try to interpret it by some absurd logic? One must pass through the principle of heavenly law.

The Last Day of the World Is the Day of the Blessing

If one asks the Christians who God is, they answer that He is the Father. And if one asks who the Holy Spirit is, they answer that the Holy Spirit is the Holy Spirit. But if one would know, one must know clearly. The Holy Spirit is the Mother Spirit.

Jesus was born with a body, but because the Holy Spirit has until now not had a woman’s body that God can certify, she has no body. That is why she is like water and like wind. How forlorn is this! There is such a historical background to it.

Then why does the Holy Spirit come upon the earth?

Because Heaven symbolizes man and earth symbolizes woman. Adam betrayed God because of his greed, but Jesus, having come to this earth as a man with a single-minded resolve to set up the Will even to the point of dying, set up a standard of victory. But the woman failed to fulfill the responsibility.

The two ought to have lived side by side upon the earth and fulfilled the responsibility, but though the husband, Jesus, subjugated Satan upon the earth and went, the mother, the Holy Spirit, could not do the work of subjugating Satan upon this earth, and so is waging the fight of subjugating Satan by passing through the toil of childbirth for every one of all humankind. How earnest must that wish have been that Jesus and the Holy Spirit hoped and hoped for over two thousand years!

If all twelve disciples who followed Jesus were hung upside down and died, or suffered the wretched punishment of dying in a cauldron of oil, how must the heart of Jesus, who sees this, have been?

When he saw them persecuted for four hundred years in Rome and suffering all manner of atrocities, would he have felt good?

Even while making such good people suffer, he could not abandon this road. And so, clinging to them, following behind the countless nations of the world and going round and round, he dragged it, centered on today’s Christian idea, forming worldwide democratic nations, up to the last day of the world.

Then what is the reason for dragging it this far?

It is to greet one day of the Blessing. To find that day, the mother’s blood and the father’s blood have been carried down. That day is a day on which the blood of individuals, of course, and the blood of clans, the blood of nations, and the blood of the world cross, and a day on which the son and daughter of hope, who could not be found even after enduring countless sacrifices, can be found within this Heaven and earth.

When we come to greet such a joyful day, we should welcome it with both hands raised and praise its glory forever. But among those who now believe, how many will there be who can do so?

The Meaning of the Day of the Blessing

This day (the one day of the Blessing) is, for Jesus, the most joyful day. Because Jesus set out most sorrowfully, only when a joy of greater weight than that sorrow comes is there liberation.

This day is a day on which Jesus, having crossed over death, can at last, after two thousand years, unburden the han knotted in his breast and laugh and dance.

How much did Jesus, saying there was much to say but that you could not bear it, carry within him and go?

A dancing Jesus—how glad must Jesus be to dance? It is a day as glad as a maiden’s and a bachelor’s marrying.

Since it was said that the value of your one life is greater than the universe, would such a day be realized by offering such a significant value of life all at once as an offering?

If it could be done that way, God would already have done it all. This must cross over the indemnity condition.

This day is the day when Jesus and the Holy Spirit resolve their han. Not only that, it is the day when the wish of the good people who until now were driven and pursued, or of God’s loyal subjects, chaste women, and filial sons who were driven, pursued, and brutally slaughtered (慘殺) in each nation.

The people who said, “Be good. Be virtuous. Do not go to a place of evil, but die in a place of good. Live standing upon the good,” and those who, staking their lives, walked the road of loyalty, filial devotion, and fidelity and died—what they wished for comes to be resolved of han by reason of this one day.

Thus, everything bound up in the world of existence toiled to repay a debt for the sake of this day and longed for everything to be liquidated by reason of this day.

Then, to what degree and how joyful a day is it?

It is a day on which, even if a hand is cut off, one does not know pain, and even if one’s neck is cut, one can die smiling. When such a day begins in Heaven and on earth, where is there a thing more joyful than that?

That such a day is coming to the earth—no one even dreamed of it. They only knew how to cling to Jesus and the Holy Spirit and pray, “Resolve my sorrow and han,” but did they even know that such a pitiable, forlorn, and wretched matter was knotted up in God? It is because one has entered the Unification Church that one has come to know it.

A person who seeks to live a life only filling his belly and only for the sake of his greed is a debtor who cannot lift his face.

Have you ever thought about how you should stand before the Father, who longs for this day of the Holy Wedding?

How much must that Father, as a prince of victory who has crossed over the last place, have yearned for sons and daughters who are folded fully into the bosom of the Father’s love?

When I think of the shabbiness, insufficiency, and disloyalty of myself, who must go before such a Father who yearns for those sons and daughters and calls Him Father, I do not know where to put myself and cannot lift my face. We are in a plight where we cannot call Him Father.

Since we are ourselves like a joint-stock company of sin, bearing a bundle of sin, we must know how great is the debt we owe to Heaven. When, properly, the mind ought to be foremost—the mind that, even if one dies a thousand and ten thousand times and becomes an offering, one must live again and repay—can one, all the same, blithely say one is God’s son, one is His daughter? This cannot be thought of without tears.

We must know the heart with which Jesus prayed,

“Abba, Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me.”

In that arena where the whole universe was in a whirl, at that moment when the whole world was placed on the verge of being sold off into ruin, how must the heart of Jesus have been?

One slip, and all history was set to go awry. When one thinks that his single wretched death was of no matter, but that, thinking he would have to make the God who had so longed and toiled for four thousand years suffer two thousand years more, he would rather die himself—who knew the heart of Jesus, who had to go before God clasping such an aching breast?

People who never even dreamed of repenting now say they will become the bride, which is just like the disposition of a robber.

The Seven-Year Great Tribulation

The Teacher of the Unification Church has walked this road until now. In the Teacher’s mind, there was only the thought of how to break through this arduous road. That is because countless indemnity conditions lie across this road.

When one looks at the Teacher, who bears the mission of having to resolve the tangled circumstances of successive generations, from the family of Adam until now, have you thought how forlorn and earnest must have been the heart of God who stands behind him, and how many hundreds, how many thousands of times there were when his breast was so full and his throat so choked that he was in a plight where he could not speak?

That the Teacher is so is still all right, but how must God have been? Just think of the heart of the Father, who has fought for six thousand years!

The Unification Church set out from such a wellspring. When one parts and looks within, there is contained within it a story that cannot be faced without shedding tears.

We set down our roots and bear witness in a place where, looking ahead, one feels a dread that makes the breast tremble and the heart burst, a place that strikes against an extreme place—and even so, is this heresy? Let us just see who wins.

When the Teacher, in his youth, in his twenties like you, faced the life others were living at ease, he could not lift his face before God; he came to think of such a past.

Then how much did the young people of unification today devote themselves for the sake of the Will, and how much did they love God?

When the Teacher criticizes you with the mind of his youth, he comes to feel that there is not one person who would be forgiven. Though it is my earnest wish to lay it all bare, as I spend this last day, the circumstances of praying, earnestly writhing before God for the sake of the nation, or the circumstances of praying, writhing over the world, there is heart-aching content that I cannot speak of however I try.

So how does one cross the pass of forty in the 1960s?

How must one cross the pass of forty that the Principle teaches?

Because Jesus passed away at thirty-three, he could not cross the seven years that make up the pass of forty after that. Thereby, the seven-year great tribulation came to remain in the human world.

So the matter is how to cross this pass. To cross this pass, one must go back up the course of Restoration Jacob passed through and the course of indemnity of the tangled affairs of the countless ancestors in the historical course.

On that road, there are no friends and no companions. Those who said they “would follow” became a burden on the road ahead, drove in thorns, and made a field of stones; there was not one person who was of help there.

Having thus offered my life and passed twenty-one years, dreamlike circumstances are entangled, and when I think of it once again, I feel abashed before God.

Even so, at each pass on that road, whenever I struck against such circumstances and such difficult places, because that day, which comes only once, was set to come, I endured everything thinking of that day.

On that day, one must be able to meet God face to face, meet Jesus and the Holy Spirit face to face, and meet the heavenly hosts and angels face to face. It must become such a place.

Because the Teacher had the standard of mind of raising the victory song and returning glory before God, he has come through every persecution, every toil, and every adversity until now.

Had that mind not been there, the Teacher could not have come this far on this road. And yet, how gravely do the people of the Unification Church today think about the word “Blessing” and about the Holy Wedding?

In a word, it is chaos. But let us say that even that is all right. In the Unification Church, we taught you that you are sons and daughters before the True Parents. Had the Teacher not taught that, the Teacher would not suffer hardship to this extent.

But since you, who came rushing in even after hearing such words, are my children even though you are crippled, the Teacher will feed you. Because a child is a child no matter what, even a crippled child with no eyes and no nose—the parent must feed it.

Even if it is limbless and lumpish, so long as it only breathes and its form remains, so long as there is only a trace of it being alive, a child is a child. You, too, are just like this. And again, you unconditionally open only your mouths and say you will receive the inheritance from your parents. Thus, the position of True Parents has the obligation, tied to it, of having to resolve such things.

When one thinks of such things, they are truly in a happy position. And yet, when I look at you, especially the Blessed Families, you seem unable to cast off your attachment to worldly bonds.

To Expel Satan

Now that one day of the fulfillment of the wish is drawing near before us. For the sake of that day, we have come until now centered on the year 1960. We must resolve the han of God, resolve the han of Jesus, and resolve the han of all people.

But to resolve the han of God, one must become a son or daughter who can receive God’s love. To become a son and daughter who receives God’s love, one must complete the indemnity condition that Jesus sought to set up.

Then one must first know why Jesus, coming to this earth, had to be driven and pursued so. It is because the three disciples did wrong, and the twelve disciples did wrong. Had they become a multitude who held out, impregnably centered on Jesus and fought, saying they would die first, Jesus would not have passed away. And the 70 disciples and the 120 disciples centered on the 12 disciples must all be indemnified and restored too.

That is why, centered on the year 1960, we have come until now centered on the 36 Couples, the 72 Couples, and the 124 Couples. And, centered on the last pass of this seven-year course, we intend to bless 430 Couples. That is because we cannot but bring forth a Blessing number (數) of 660 or more.

The number six is Satan’s number, and its position is the position of an enemy before God. We must cross over this number six.

So, adding in the established couples as well, 760 families come to receive the Blessing within the seven years.

Then why did the historians say that 1960 was the year a new history unfolded? Who made it so?

The Unification Church made it so. Do you know where the reason lies for the communists fighting one another today? Seen providentially, such a thing was set to happen while we crossed the three-year pass and crossed the four-year pass. That is why the Cultural Revolution arose in Communist China in 1966, and by reason of it, great chaos broke out.

Everyone in the Unification Church, when one is to receive the Blessing, what does it say to do?

First, it says, find and set up three children of faith. And it says, Witness to twelve people. This is an absolute requisite. When these three children of faith receive the Blessing, it becomes eight family members.

One must set up the family-level standard of the eight family members of Adam’s family and the eight family members of Noah’s family. Unless one lays a foundation of victory upon that standard, one cannot completely expel Satan.

From where did Satan invade?

We know it as having invaded from Eve, but it did not invade Eve alone. It invaded from Adam and Eve—that is, from Adam’s family. Then how must one expel the Satan that invaded? Placing before us the principle of indemnity and Restoration, how must one do it? Can one expel Satan as an individual? Even Jesus cannot expel Satan as an individual. One must form a family.

That is why a bride is needed. Is this not according to the Principle?

Moreover, because Satan invaded even Adam’s sons and daughters, unless one forms a family, one cannot expel Satan.

That is why—what is the standard for completely subjugating Satan?

It is the Blessing. So the Blessing is completion, and completion is an eternal parting (永別) from Satan. You must know this clearly.

So do you understand the fact that, however well one believes in Jesus and devotes all loyalty, one cannot go to the Kingdom of Heaven?

It is because, on the way there, one comes to receive Satan’s accusation. Before that happens, you must pray hard. Jesus is praying even after having gone as far as Paradise.

So the Trinity is waging an offensive to expel the satanic world.

What must we who have received the Blessing do?

We must achieve the things Jesus failed to achieve upon this earth. Unless one crosses over such a place, one cannot become God’s son. Jesus became God’s son by reason of dying without fulfilling his responsibility, but we can become God’s sons while alive. If that comes about, the conclusion emerges that we are better than Jesus. Is it not so?

Jesus commanded twelve disciples but could not organize a clan and a people, and because he lost even the three disciples who were to rally and lead the twelve disciples, he could not but be expelled from the satanic world.

Jesus, thus driven by the nation, driven by the church, driven by the family, driven by the disciples, and in the end driven even by the three disciples, could not but become an offering before Satan at the very bottom.

We Who Must Resolve the Han of Jesus

It was God’s wish to send Jesus to this earth, and it was Jesus’ wish to achieve God’s Will for Him. And when Jesus’ Will is achieved, even the wish of humankind is achieved.

Who was the central point at which these three wishes were thus connected?

It was Jesus. But because Jesus failed to achieve the Will, the han he left became a han of Heaven, and God’s providential history was extended by two thousand years. That is why, if we who live in the terminal age of history resolve the han of Jesus, first God’s han is resolved, and next humankind’s han is resolved.

So Unification believers must go the road of resolving the han of Jesus.

Then what is the han of Jesus?

It is to become true sons and daughters whom God can certify and receive the Blessing. For that, one must find what Jesus lost.

Since Jesus lost the three disciples in the three-year course of public ministry, we must find and set up three children of faith upon a three-year public course.

In other words, since it was lost in a place of being driven, pursued, and persecuted, it must be found and set up again in a place of being driven, pursued, and persecuted. This is the seven-year course the Unification Church is now walking.

So we have walked this course until now on the offensive. Jesus died in an environment of being persecuted by the whole people and the whole church, but we, crossing over that instant, that moment of death, must from there prepare a foundation of victory and go down—only then do we come to be sons and daughters like the disciples Jesus sought and set up.

Jesus, having died, resurrected after three days and, over forty days, rallied the disciples again and once more organized a spiritual Israel; but now we cannot but organize the substantial disciple-type, clan-type, and people-type.

You must clearly know that this is the course each of us human beings must take.

That is why we are going down that road. The Teacher’s aspiration is great. Staking the world and the people who represent the six-thousand-year history, he set up indemnity conditions in every field and turned himself out of the sphere of Satan’s accusation.

Thus, the Teacher, not dying even in a place where he could become an offering, and then holding the authority of resurrection, set up three disciples and formed the bond of sons and daughters—this is the Holy Wedding ceremony of 1960.

The Teacher, Who Never Got to Love His Parents, Wife, and Children

The three-year course of public ministry is absolutely necessary.

If one receives the Blessing without walking this course, because one receives it as a Blessing on credit, it is difficult even to enter the spiritual world.

You must know that there is a holding period. And a person who has not passed through this road, even if he bears sons and daughters, cannot love them. The teacher, too, passed through such a process. The Teacher never properly loved Sung-jin.

Until greeting the Holy Wedding ceremony of 1960, he could not provide even tuition and could not buy himself even one book. You, too, will know this well, having seen it. What a wooden and stony person, what an ignorant and benighted person!

Ought a father to treat his children so?

That is because, unless one loves the children of faith more than the children of the flesh, Restoration does not come about.

Had God been in a position to think of putting His own sons and daughters first, He would not have sent those sons and daughters to this earth. But God seeks to save all people by sacrificing His own sons and daughters. That is the way of establishing the law of good.

Is it not God’s way that one must save the utterly evil person by sacrificing the utterly beloved good person?

A person who wishes to follow such a way and Will of God—that is, a person who bears public responsibility—must set up the standard that he loves the people of the evil world more than his children and be certified by God, and only then, if he loves his sons and daughters, is he not accused by Satan. Thus, after winning in the satanic world, he can love his children even more than he loved the people of the satanic world. Only then does God’s love at last settle in and enter.

When one comes to see God’s love, one can know that the mind that loves a child on Satan’s side and the mind that loves sons and daughters restored to the original world are different.

Accordingly, the Teacher too is likewise. Because until now it was an age of loving people with whom there was no outward relation, to bring to a close the responsibility within that sphere, he could not but occupy a place that could be one with the position within that sphere. This is the Will of heavenly law. Because the Teacher was placed in such a position, he never once got to love his parents, wife, and children.

Though he received a heavenly gift possessing the true worth of a treasure that is a Principle unmatched before Heaven and that cannot be exchanged for anything in all Heaven and earth, he could not kneel before his father and mother and tell them, This Word is thus and that Word is so. And his elder brother, knowing that his younger brother was the highest in the spiritual world and the highest in the physical world too, devoted all loyalty to the Teacher.

That could be known even through prayer. Yet even to such an elder brother, he could not say that he bore a certain mission and responsibility. Compared with Jesus, who was disbelieved by his parents and brothers, the Teacher can be said to have won. And his father and mother, too, loved the Teacher greatly.

Even his mother’s clan (門中) loved the Teacher exceedingly. But the Teacher never once conveyed the Word of the Principle to those on his mother’s side.

Because he could not indemnify it without the Teacher standing in the same position as Mary and Jesus, he could say nothing even to his parents and brothers. And though he came to hear all manner of reproachful words from his relatives, he could not lay out his convictions to them either.

And so the Teacher, though he had relatives, centered on people of a far-off foreign place, pouring out all his devotion and sincerity to save that one person of whom there is only one upon this earth, and pioneered the foundation of Restoration. Such was matched centered on the 1960s.

You must know that only after crossing over such a pass does one at last become one qualified to love one’s parents, children, and relatives.

In Formation, Growth, and Completion, Growth Is the Matter

Therefore, hereafter, the Blessed Families must lay a foundation and a base so that their children of faith can attend the Holy Wedding ceremony and be able to lay their hands on them and bless them.

If they cannot do that, only by laying a foundation of having blessed them at least by mind-prayer can they come to stand in the position of the condition that they themselves received the Blessing.

Only sons and daughters born upon such a foundation can at last be embraced, nursed, and loved. The reasoning is so. Without even knowing such content, they think only their sons and daughters are precious.

You must know that the road of the Principle the Teacher teaches and leaves behind is not so. You will know that better than the Teacher.

The teacher, too, walked that road. Did he walk it or not? On that road, there is no forgiveness. One chooses three sons of faith, decides their partners, and only then stands in the place of the Blessing. Because he stood in such a position, Heaven and earth revolve together there. Because he indemnified and restored, the universe revolves.

In the three-stage growth process of formation, growth, and completion, growth is always the matter.

If one draws a straight line through formation, growth, and completion, what is positioned in the center is growth, and one always remains centered on this.

Drawn as a line, it is a straight line, but because the four directions of the world of existence are three-dimensional, it refers to the central position.

Why is it that in the Bible the second number is always the matter?

It is because the second is positioned on the central line in the heavenly law of formation, growth, and completion, so that if one occupies this center, it becomes the occupation of the whole. That is why God always makes the decisive fight with Satan centered on the center.

In Adam’s family, the providence was carried on centered on Abel, the second son among the three sons Cain, Abel, and Seth; and in Noah’s family, the providence was carried on centered on Ham among Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

Looking at Abraham’s family too, by reason of the mistake of the three offerings of Abraham of the first generation, it passed through a process of fighting Satan and offering a burnt offering centered on the only son, Isaac. And, seen centered on God’s sons, the first son is Adam, the second son is Jesus, and the third son is the Lord at the Second Advent. Among them, the decisive fight was carried on, centered on Jesus, the second son. Thus, the providence was always centered on the second son. Is that not so?

Then, seen centered on the family, what fell?

Because the formation-level family of Adam fell, one must indemnify and restore centered on the eight family members of Noah’s family.

That is why the first standard by which God can make the decisive fight with Satan is Noah’s family. And the whole of the second starting standard of Restoration and the starting standard of judgment is Abraham’s family.

These are Adam, Noah, and Abraham—that is, the three generations of formation, growth, and completion—and in seeking the ancestor of faith, there are three generations.

Because Adam could not become the ancestor of faith, Noah was set up, and because Noah too was shattered by reason of the mistake of the second son, Ham, it was extended, and reaching Abraham, he became the ancestor of faith. Is that not so?

The 36 Couples Are Ancestors Standing in Place of the Lost 36 Generations

The fight of Cain and Abel in Adam’s family, the fight of Shem and Ham in Noah’s family, and the fight of Esau and Jacob in Abraham’s family have extended down to this day.

Then what must the history of Restoration do?

Because the history from Adam to Noah and Abraham failed, it must be found again. The vertical history of humankind is 36 generations. These 36 generations have become the ancestors of humankind.

To set up these 36 generations horizontally, the people who came to this earth bearing the responsibility of parents must indemnify everything historical. Coming straight down vertically, one must descend and then go back up.

One must indemnify and restore. Seen in terms of the principle of Restoration, too, it has been unraveled coming down from Adam’s family.

Then what is the most central matter in coming to restore?

Because it was centered on Noah at first, Noah’s three sons are the matter. Because they became the standard by which one could, centered on the universe, judge for the first time, Adam, Jesus, and the Lord at the Second Advent met. Jesus had to uphold this standard in the historical age centered on the family.

Now what must our Unification Church do?

It must meet Noah’s three sons. Thereby, when the standard of having found and set up Noah’s three sons is decided, what happens?

The condition of having restored Adam’s family is established. Because the six-thousand-year history until now has been for the sake of setting up this family, when Noah’s three sons are decided, one goes up to the historical process, and they must stand as ancestors.

If one decides to be an ancestor and prepares the authority of victory that is not accused by Satan within the sphere of judgment, then even Noah’s descendants can enter the sphere not accused by Satan. Thereby, one can restore the whole.

Seen from such a viewpoint, the fall is that, out of the past, present, and future, centered on the present, the past was cut off, and the future was cut off. By winning over it, one could set out to bear a historical fruit.

Because Noah’s family was thus the matter, the Teacher too had, before holding the Holy Wedding ceremony, the matter of having to find Noah’s three sons.

After finding those three sons, one must find twelve disciples. That is, one must find and bless twelve people, including the three sons. By reason of that, the ten generations from Adam to Noah, plus Shem and Ham, come to be 12 generations (代) restored.

By being thus restored, what had split past and present—that is, what had split the spiritual world and the earth—is connected.

And because twelve are found here too, since they become the substance of future victory, they could appear as the substance of a Second-Advent-type resurrection—that is, as a restored type (型).

Twelve families among those families are people who married as they pleased, just as Adam and Eve did. Therefore, all twelve of those families are married couples.

Because the married-couple families receive the Blessing and are connected to this earth, the spirit people who married as they pleased and, having lived, went to the spiritual world are made one with the earth. At this time, all the ancestors in the spiritual world can re-advent to the earth.

Do you understand?

So how glad the spirit people must be! That is why, when there is spiritual communication, there is dancing and commotion.

Next, what was mistaken and lost from Noah’s family to Abraham’s family is found. By finding the three sons, what Noah’s family mistook is found again. That generation of Abraham ends in Jacob’s family, and the three generations of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob stand up in this way and indemnify and restore all vertical history horizontally.

Because the married-couple families who married as they pleased receive the Blessing, the condition of having found such families again is set up, and so the standard is set by which the spirit-people who married that way and went to the spiritual world can be restored.

Next, one must bless the maidens and bachelors who have come as far as the engagement stage, and this is just as Jesus and the Holy Spirit are at the engagement stage. But their inner heart standard of hoping for the Will was not set up deeply.

At this stage, centered on maidens and bachelors, to string together all the things fallen beyond their age and indemnify them as representatives, the 36-Couple Blessing came to be. Therefore, the 36 Couples are ancestors standing in place of the lost 36 generations.

To Find the Sons and Daughters Snatched Away by Satan

What is it that expels what the ancestors, mistakenly, were caught on—the conditions of Satan’s accusation?

It is the Blessing. Setting up the victorious condition that is the Blessing, one expels Satan. Because Satan invaded the two, Adam and Eve, by reason of our forming Blessed Families, we can indemnify the mistakes of all the past ancestors and see the setting-out toward the authority of resurrection-victory upon the earth.

That is why the gate of Satan, who has been accused by the spiritual world until now, could be opened.

The Teacher must know all such content and put it into practice. The Teacher must become Adam, must become Noah, and must become Abraham and go forth to the place of offering. Thereby, he must inherit the heart-level foundation.

Otherwise, such a thing is impossible.

So he set up the standard of having restored what the 36 generations (代) had failed in. Having thus become the ancestor—but with the ancestor alone it will not do.

From where did the fight begin?

It began with Adam and Eve. The fight began between Cain and Abel, the sons of Adam and Eve. And so this world was ruined this way. What that means is that their descendants made a world where all fights. This must be indemnified and restored.

For that, one must set up the condition that the sons and daughters of the 36 generations did not fight but became one before God. So there was set up the number of 72 Couples—that is, the number doubling 36, the number divided into Cain and Abel.

By this, 72 Couples being set up, a historical ancestral foundation was laid on which Cain and Abel, not fighting, can achieve the Four Position Foundation.

So, an absolute standard by which Satan can be guarded against was set up. Do you understand?

Do you know how grave a place the 72 Couples stand?

Because Heaven and earth were pitch-dark when Adam and Eve fell, to indemnify and restore that, the Blessing of the Unification Church (the 36 Couples) too had to be done in the pitch-dark middle of the night, and so the Holy Wedding ceremony was held behind closed doors.

At that time, all sorts of things were said—“Give back my son. Give back my husband. What are you doing taking other people’s sons and daughters?”

It is a parent’s mind to marry off one’s own child, and yet, because the Teacher of the Unification Church says he will send them off single-handedly, there is an uproar. It is precisely because they are the fathers and mothers of the satanic world. Because Satan snatched away God’s sons and daughters, the Teacher snatches them back again and indemnifies and restores. It was to find again and indemnify and restore the sons and daughters historically lost. That is why the ceremony was finished quickly. Because it is the history of indemnity and Restoration, there was no help for it.

When one looks at the Principle of the Unification Church, God cannot but be with the Unification Church.

The parents who opposed the Unification Church and pleaded desperately, saying they would die, these days say that the group wedding at that time was a wrong thing, but that they got a good son-in-law. That they married wrongly, yet got a good son-in-law—does that make any sense? These days, whenever they see me, they say such things.

The Road the Unification Church Walks Is a Road of Turning Misfortune into Blessing

The father and mother of Jesus ought to have attended to Jesus as the father. But they did not do so. It was not set up that Jesus’ parents, looking at Jesus, would say, “Hey, you, when you go somewhere, you don’t even tell me?”

Rather, they ought to have said, “Where are you going?”—but they could not do that. Knowing that Principle and looking deeply into its content, it turns out to be so.

It is not because the Teacher is inferior to anyone that he is doing this work.

Next is the matter of Cain and Abel. From here, it unfolds horizontally. And here too, difficulty follows. But because it is a principle of the Unification Church that one’s sons and daughters hold a group wedding, he tells them to do as they see fit, whether they consent or not.

Of course, it is to indemnify and restore. That is why, though the Teacher took much abuse, he did not take those sons and daughters and ruin them, and by no means did he ruin the Republic of Korea.

Now, because they have been completely joined upon the earth, upon that foundation, even if Satan opposes, all of it is restored by turning misfortune into blessing.

You have learned and known it so far, have you not?

On the road the Unification Church walks, the term “turning misfortune into blessing” is set to accompany it.

At one time, it was said that if one goes to the Unification Church, one must be careful, that it is thus and so. But now have such suspicions been stripped away, or not?

A standard has arisen by which the worldwide idea Jesus sought to set up in dispatching the 70 disciples can be set up upon the earth.

Jesus’ 70 disciples and the 72 Couples were connected, were they not?

Choosing the twelve disciples was to revive the 36 generations lost from Adam, but because he lost the twelve disciples and lost even the 70 disciples, he lost the ancestors and lost even the sons and daughters—so where would he go to appeal?

That is why, after resurrecting, he set out for the world foundation centered on the 120 disciples.

Then what number is 120?

The number 12 is a number symbolizing formation, the number 70 is a number symbolizing growth, and the number 120 is a number representing the nations of the future world.

You must know that when 120 nations join the United Nations (UN), which was formed centered on the Christian idea, it has entered the last days. At present, 123 nations have joined.

Centered on the passage of 1967, 124 nations must join. The number of the Unification Church’s 124 Couples and the number of the 124 nations must all match. It is set up so. This is not a coincidence. God made it so.

If it does not become so, the Principle of the Unification Church will all shatter.

Then what does the number 120 of the 120 disciples mean?

It is the number of the sovereigns of the nations of the world. Therefore, when 120 nations join the United Nations, the last days are drawing near.

Some seventy-odd nations—the setting out of liberation begins from the number six. Why is that? Because the human being was created from the number six. Everything fits so. It must be matched accordingly. That is why, having matched the number 124, our Unification Church came to hold the 124-Couple Holy Wedding ceremony.
