Let Us Love Heaven

Korea, Former Headquarters Church.

Ephesians 6:24

The title of the content I wish to speak to you today is “Let Us Love Heaven.” I will speak to you for a little while with this content.

What God Desires and What the Human Being Desires

God said that grace would be upon the one whose mind of loving Him does not change. As those words say, people who love God and offer every devotion for God’s sake without fail receive grace and remain upon this earth. Not only do they remain; they come to possess this earth. This is God’s promise.

We know that this is precisely God’s promise, made to find again before the human being what was lost through the Fall—that is, the whole of all that He blessed when, after God created all things in the Garden of Eden, He made the ancestors of us humankind as their master and blessed them to govern all things and rule this world centered on God’s love.

The ancestors of humankind who were in the Garden of Eden failed to love God utterly.

If the departure of humankind had truly begun in a place of loving God and being united with God’s desire, then from that day the world of peace that humankind desires, the world of the ideal that humankind desires, the one world that humankind desires, would have appeared as an inevitable result. But because that bond in which God could love was not formed, from there the history of humankind began to grow wretched, and at the same time a wretched history began for God too—this fact we know well.

That is why, as for what God desires and the final thing humankind desires—that is, the final wish—it is that God loves humankind and humankind loves God. We must know the fact that this is the historic wish of humankind and remains as its greatest hope.

That, because we human beings fell, a history set out in which we cannot receive love in the true sense centered on God, is an undeniable fact. That is why we must know that humankind, which set out thus, is truly a pitiful being, a fallen descendant that has become like an orphan more pitiful than anyone in this universe. That is why, in the words of the Bible too, it was said, “Israel is like an orphan.”

Humankind lost its parents. Though it was born from parents, it was born without receiving in full the deep, lofty, and precious love of true parents, and it failed to live together with those parents.

Furthermore, God, who is in the position of parent, because He lost His children, failed to achieve the standard He desired, and so, embracing the long history, has until now gone on gathering things up behind humankind to achieve that purpose. We know that this is God’s providence of salvation.

For God’s Desire and the Human Being’s Desire to Be Achieved

Because God too must achieve His purpose, and humankind too is in a standpoint of having to go find again that standard it lost, in any case, we must greet within Heaven and earth one day in which the desire of the laboring God and the desire of the seeking humankind are united. It is a fact needing no further words that, when it becomes so, God’s joy will begin and humankind’s joy will begin.

Until now, upon this earth, a vast humankind has come and gone. And at present, a vast humanity is living. As this age passes following the wheel of history, descendants who take over the history of later generations will be born generation upon generation. There is something that must remain within the history that has passed until now, and that will pass hereafter. What is it? It is that a bloodline that has received God’s love must remain. Not only a bloodline but such a people must remain, and one nation ruled by that people must remain, and, through that nation, a unified world must remain.

We must know that, without this, not only the desire of humankind but also the desire of God, who has carried out the Providence centered on humankind, cannot be achieved upon this earth.

When we consider the fact that, to leave this enormous and precious purpose in the history of humankind today, humankind too is going forth toward that place, and God too is leading humankind toward that place, we must know that the whole of the historic process—human beings being born, living, and dying—must be totally mobilized to achieve this purpose.

Then, considered individually, what is the individual’s desire?

It is to receive God’s love. Considered in terms of the family, what is that family’s desire? Likewise, it is to receive God’s love. Furthermore, what is the desire of the tribe, people, and nation? Likewise, it is to receive God’s love.

Further, what is God’s desire?

It is centered on one nation and one people, giving and receiving infinite love, embracing them with lofty and precious love, to greet one day of love that can sweep away in a single sigh the historic sorrow and lamentation of tens of thousands of ages. We must know that this is the desire of the God who carries out the Providence.

God’s Providence Is to Achieve the Desire Regarding the Human Being

We must clearly realize the fact that, before the Providence of God, who hopes for such one day of desire, a vast number of human beings have been mobilized in the historic process until now and have writhed on that battlefield.

We must know that the fighting centered on Abel in Adam’s family, which appeared in the historic process, was to greet one day of desire, and that judging away the vast worldwide humankind centered on Noah was God’s dispensation to achieve such a day and world, and that calling Abraham and having him set out on a course of wandering to a lonely foreign land was because of God’s desire to have that one family set up such a purpose.

We must know that having Abraham stand in the standpoint of offering Isaac as a burnt offering was to form a bond of love, and that having Jacob live a sorrowful life like a wayfarer for twenty-one years was God’s purpose to achieve this one day of desire.

We must know that seeing a new historic departure upon the foundation of victory called “Israel,” gathered up and centered on Jacob, was also God’s work to greet this day.

We must know that the chosen people of Israel passing through the course of bondage in Egypt and the course of restoration to Canaan and tracing thousands of years of history until greeting the Messiah also comes down to the single purpose of achieving upon this earth the bond of God’s love.

We must know that it was precisely Messiah-thought that promised to send, as a substance of love standing in for God, as a model-body of love standing in for humankind, one subject, one central being, in whose mind and body God’s love would be brought to fruit and who could give that love in God’s stead.

The one who came bearing such a mission is Jesus Christ, and the people prepared to greet this one are the Israelite people. Though Jesus and the Israelite people were destined to meet at a single point and to die together if dying and live together if living, because Jesus and the Israelite people failed to become one, Jesus himself could not open his heart and commune with Israel and could not pour out the love of God he held deep within his mind.

For that reason, we must know the mortifying fact that God, who sought to prepare in the historic process a single unified origin of love as a fruit, could not but have this once again divided.

Jesus’ Aching Heart

If Adam and Eve, created as the ancestors of humankind in the Garden of Eden, had set out centered on God’s love, the bond of love could have continued forever, but they lost that standard.

Therefore, the four-thousand-year course of history came to remain as a history of sorrowful twists and turns and a history of tragic fate. But God, who came forth seeking the human being with hope, sent Jesus as the central being who could at last achieve His desire.

The Israelite people were to be united, centered on Jesus, and welcome him, saying he is the substance of God’s love, the incarnate body of the love God wished to give the Israelite people. But the Israelite people failed to do so.

On that account, Jesus and the Israelite people could not but part. We must know that this is a sorrow without equal in the historic process and a grievous fact.

Christians today believe that it was God’s purpose for Jesus to come upon this earth and die. We know that countless people do so believe. But we of the Unification family clearly know the fact that Jesus came not to die but to connect God’s love to pitiful humankind and came to achieve a nation of peace, a unified world of peace.

Because he failed to achieve such a hope upon this earth, we know well that Jesus, embracing in his heart the tragic and sorrowful account just as it was, was unable to spread upon this earth the work he wished to do and the purpose he wished to achieve, and vanished as the dew of the cross.

We know that his going while promising and exhorting that he would come again—because, even as he departed on the cross, there was a mission to leave behind the bond of his coming—became a standard and has led the two thousand years of history until now centered on Christianity. Therein is the meaning: “I go, so I go as the bridegroom, and you remain, so remain as the bride.”

Jesus, who had come as the bridegroom, came for the departure of a new history in which he was to greet a bride and form a family of peace, and, centered on that family, achieve a tribe of peace, a people of peace, and a world of peace; but because his overall desire collapsed, he could not behold the religious body centered on love and could not behold the people centered on love. He could not face the vast families and individuals of Israel centered on a heart of love.

Because humankind, for four thousand years, made God’s love its desire and came forth seeking it, God especially cultivated the Israelite people as a chosen people, sent them Jesus, the subject of love, and wished that they would form a bond with Jesus. When it became so, the day the Israelite people formed a bond with Jesus would be the day hope was achieved and the day the desire was fulfilled.

But we know well the tragic circumstance of Jesus, who had to go, leaving behind, in the rear of history, the bond over which he had labored. We must clearly know the fact that the Israelite people, who should have greeted the bridegroom who had come and held a wedding feast, rather drove out the bridegroom and made him shed blood on the cross, thereby taking on a historic sin.

The two thousand years of Christian history are what have, until now, longed to greet a bride, enduring that aching heart of one who had to go without greeting the desired bride.

We must clearly know the fact that this Christian history has, until now, been stained with the blood of tragic martyrdom.

We, Who Must Recover the Bond of Love With God

When we consider that we have been called upon for such an enormous foundation of desire and were chosen to achieve this desire, whether we look back or look forward, we shudder, and even when we look at our own later generations hereafter, we cannot but do likewise.

It is my individual self standing in such a place, our family standing in such a place, our people standing in such a place, our nation standing in such a place, our world standing in such a place. Seen thus, it is the mission of religion to steady this world and set it before the nation, to steady the nation and set it before the people, to steady the people and set it before the tribe, to steady the tribe and set it before a single family, and, steadying the family, to prepare a single foundation on which, centered on a bridegroom and bride, a wedding feast can be held.

Despite this, the issue is whether there is a religion that can, in the true sense, fulfill such a mission.

In this sense, we Unification Church members are selves who, as individuals, to integrate the whole of the enormous historic mission, the hope of the age, and the desire of the future, have until now writhed and run to find the bond of God’s love again. We must clearly know that we are such selves.

The many people of the satanic world blocked the road we were going, and the wretched fate of history came forth, blocking our road so we could not go. When we consider our historic process of passing through while resisting and fighting against this, we must clearly know the solemn fact that its purpose was solely to prepare a single place to find again the bond of father and son—that is, the bond of God and my individual self as father and son.

How my individual self will win God’s love and how my individual self will receive God’s love is the most important problem of all. Becoming such a man, such a woman, one must greet the coming Lord and organize a new tribe and a new people. Not on a merely national standard but on a transnational standard, not merely in a specific nation but on a transnational standard, a historic new departure of the individual, family, tribe, people, nation, and world must unfold upon the globe. Unless it becomes so, the bond by which we can receive God’s love, which is our desire, will never be formed.

Then where is that place where one can receive God’s love?

We must go forth seeking that place. Furthermore, where is the highest place that God wishes to love? We must go forth seeking that place. There must clearly be a motive by which God came not to be able to love, a motive by which the human being came not to be able to receive love. That is why we, who wish to receive love, must dig out and shatter the content that became the motive by which love could not be received.

Because the human ancestors fell in the Garden of Eden, they failed to become absolute human beings conforming to the heavenly order and human beings united with God’s purpose. That is why we must, by becoming people absolutely united with God’s purpose, dig out and shatter the content that became the motive by which the love centered on God was lost and pursue content and character by which we can love more than Adam and Eve.

The Content of the Unification Church Principle

Today, however much a fallen human being strives to equip himself with that character, because he cannot reach the place equipped with that character, God sent to this earth a representative son equipped with that character. Setting him in the standpoint of the true olive tree and the fallen human being in the standpoint of the wild olive tree, He had the wild olive tree cut off and the true olive tree grafted in its place so that it could bear the fruit of the true olive tree.

We must know that this is the providence of salvation and the fact that God has carried it out in history until now.

So the Unification Church has come forth asserting that, to receive God’s love, we shall shatter all the motives by which God’s love could not be received.

In the Garden of Eden, who, and how, transgressed the law of Heaven?

And what is the motive by which, even though God carried out the providence of salvation and sent Jesus to set up a single center upon this earth and plant God’s love, this could not be brought to fruit upon this earth? In other words, what is the content by which a second motive for forming a bond of love could not be prepared?

We must know that, without shattering this, the human being himself cannot become a subject person of character who can receive love before God.

That is why we must know that today we need the content that should have been achieved in Adam’s family, and that the family content that Jesus should have achieved when he came upon this earth is absolutely needed. What teaches such content concretely is the Principle of the Unification Church.

We must know that the moment, the time, when, removing all the motives by which God’s love could not be received and, receiving love, one is born as a victorious son or daughter before all the Cosmos, is the final point of purpose that Unification believers have come desiring.

We must know that that place is precisely the place where, centered on the coming Lord, the desire can be fulfilled a third time, and that that time is precisely the time when one can meet God’s love.

If the Israelite People Had Welcomed Jesus

In this sense, of course, our individual selves, but the family, tribe, and people too must be so, and the nation and world too must be so, and the Christians scattered throughout the world too must be able to stand in such a standpoint. Yet how many of the Christians scattered throughout the world stand in such a place?

Though Christianity has fought together with the ages in the historic process and passed through a course of being an offering in those ages, it still has no nation. It has no foundation upon this earth, I say. It pursued a nation, but pursued it only in imagination and spiritually; it failed to equip the form of a nation with a substantial foundation upon this earth, I say.

If the Israelite people had welcomed Jesus, they would have prepared, centered on Jesus, a national foundation that could go out to the world. Thereby, centered on that nation, they would have made the world into a single unified world. But because the Israelite people killed Jesus, they lost the substantial world and came to stand in a standpoint of coming forth, embracing only the hope of a spiritual world. That is why they completely lost the one nation, one people, one chosen people called Israel, prepared through four thousand years of labor.

Christians must know that it is the history of Christianity to have set up the ideology of a nation centered only on an ideological desire until now.

Until now, the believer who comes believing in Christianity could not freely carry on a life of faith centered on the family within the family. Even if he sought to have faith centered on the foundation of a single tribe, he could not.

Even if he sought to have faith centered on a single people and a single nation, he could not, and even if he sought to hold some foundation upon the earth and carry on a life of faith centered on it, he could not. One must know the fact that they became such a wretched band.

If Jesus had set out, centered on the Israelite people, taking a base upon the earth, a free environment would have unfolded in which, of course, not only the individual but the whole family could carry on a life of faith.

Not only that, but the tribe, people, nation, and world would freely carry on a life of faith centered on Jesus, and a new foundation on which Heaven and earth could unite would have been set up upon the earth, and a worldwide history of unification would have set out. But because the Israelite people lost their foundation upon the earth, Christians, like drifting clouds, driven by this people and driven by that people, have indemnified the history of sin and pursued an ideal national form.

God’s Ideal of Creation Is to Achieve the Kingdom of Heaven on This Earth

Seeing such things, one must know the fact that the purpose of God, who originally made the human being, was not to achieve a deluded and fanciful ideology of a nation standing on a spiritual standard, but to organize a family and tribe upon the very foundation on which one lives, sweating while alive, and to form a people and nation, and achieve the nation of hope, the Kingdom of Heaven of hope, that God loves.

It is the original ideal of creation to achieve such a nation and receive God’s love.

One must clearly know that it was not God’s desire to come forth desiring only a spiritual nation with no foundation whatsoever upon the earth.

Christianity, which lost this point of departure of desire, went on connecting a tragic history of blood in the historic process. But even after so scattering blood, it failed to hold fast the foundation on which it scattered blood as its base.

That place should have been made a bridgehead, a foundation from which the enemy could be defeated, but because it failed to do so, however much land they shed blood upon, when no one can inherit and keep the bond of that blood, it all comes to belong to a standpoint of total loss.

One must know that it is the history of Christianity to have passed through such a wretched course, and the fact that in that historic process countless Christian ancestors have shed blood because of Satan.

It is not God’s desire for the returning Lord to come riding on the clouds in the air and establish a spiritual, deluded nation. His coming again is to, taking this earth as a foothold, greet a single bride who can receive God’s love in full and carry out the work of finding what was lost because, six thousand years ago, the human ancestors failed to become the true ancestors of humankind and became false ancestors.

That is why a complete man who can stand in a place that can be united with God’s love, and a complete woman who can stand in a place that can commune with God’s love, must without fail appear in this historic age.

One must know that this time is the time when one can stand as the bride to greet the Lord who comes as the bridegroom.

That is why one must know that this place is a place beyond that in which Adam and Eve were loved in the Garden of Eden, a place beyond that in which Adam and Eve were blessed. Only when such a point arises upon the earth can Satan not invade.

If the human ancestors Adam and Eve had come to stand in such a place of victory, the archangel would not have become Satan but would have stood in the standpoint of serving the human being from the complete standpoint of a servant.

This is the principle of creation. Humankind, which lost such a place, is an orphan. So the true parents of humankind, who can find such a place, must appear upon this earth.

However fine a person may be, however much he may equip himself with a social foundation and with character so that he can say he is not ashamed on his conscience, one must know that he is a child who sold off his parents, a human being who sold off his parents.

One must know that, being a great traitor who sold off his parents and killed his parents, he is in a standpoint where his sin cannot be pardoned. Why? Because Jesus came upon this earth as the True Parent and came as the Savior, yet they betrayed him.

Jesus came as the Savior, but he did not come as a Savior from the standpoint of an elder brother. He did not come as a Savior from the standpoint of a master. He came as a Savior from the standpoint of a father. Yet humankind failed to recognize him, I say.

God’s Love Is Manifested Through the True Parents

Then, having come as a father, what did he seek to do?

Seeking a mother and setting up a mother-Savior, he sought to achieve the true love of parents. One must know that, without centering on such love, one cannot set out toward the new world in which God can rejoice. One must know that the thought of Christianity has its basis here.

Because God, who came seeking such a bond of love, sent Jesus as the fruit of four thousand years of labor, as the True Father of humankind, as a true man; if a single true woman had appeared representing the Israelite people and had, in the standpoint of the True Mother, loved Jesus, who was the True Father, then from that time the Israelite people would have set out as a people that was neither a pitiful people nor an orphan, but one that could leap to the world.

Despite this, by driving out Jesus, they lost the single man who had come as a son to equip a substance upon this earth and connect God’s love. And so, because this man went without achieving the purpose, he must come again.

So, coming riding on the clouds, one cannot achieve the purpose. The Christians of the present age who believe he will come riding on the clouds hold an absurd and groundless faith.

Come riding on the clouds?

He absolutely does not come riding on the clouds. We must win victory against a Christianity that holds such a deluded view of faith and dreams of a deluded world.

If they come forth with force, we confront them with force; if they come forth with real ability, we confront them with real ability; if they come forth centered on character, we confront them with character and win victory before all the world, I say.

You must know that this is the content that the Unification Church holds as its standard and comes forth with.

If it be said that a band bearing such an enormous historic mission, a band that can be gathered as the fruit of such an enormous historic desire, has appeared within this Heaven and earth, then indeed both the ancestors who have come and gone until now bearing historic han and the bands living upon the earth at present cannot but kick off everything and come, bowing their heads, seeking this foundation of desire. Such a day will without fail come.

That is why this is a road one must go even forsaking one’s own nation. Even if there is a sovereignty one could boast of to the world, one must forsake that sovereignty and go; and however much one’s individual self may dwell in a nest of rest, humming upon a foundation of happiness, this is a road one must in any case go, forsaking everything. One must know that there remains the single problem we must, without fail, find.

What is this single problem?

Where will this single problem be resolved? It is God’s love. Where does that love come from? That love comes not from false parents but is manifested upon this earth through the True Parents.

For there to be True Parents, first the True Father must come. The one who comes to this planet Earth (지구성, 地球星) bearing that father’s character and God’s love in His stead is the central being of the religious thought that religious people today believe in—that is, the Lord at the Second Advent.

Our Unification Church, knowing that such content is an undeniable fact, must bear fruit centered on such content. That is why it was said, “Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

One must know that, if there is a person who knows an ideal worldview of society and a view of the nation centered on complete love and carries on his living centered on it, that person is a happier person than anyone upon this earth.

Following such an inner bond of heart, we Unification family members have walked a road of persecution for decades until now. Just as the religions of the past were suppressed in their ages, the Unification Church, which came forth as a single religion in the twentieth century, has, bearing in full all the han of historic tragic fate and passing through a historic process of struggle together with a tragic history, walked a road of persecution until now.

But the Unification Church does not perish. Even though the world perishes, the Unification Church absolutely does not perish. Even if the three billion of humankind perish, the people who believe in the Unification Church absolutely do not perish.

Holding such conviction, we have, in this desolate three-thousand-ri peninsula, in the midst of this wretched Baedal people, come forth until now with a single ideological ideology that can be boasted of before the world.

Then what is that ideology?

It is not that we boast of having equipped some ideological form that can conquer the world. It is neither that nor this, nor anything that was in the historic process. Then what is it? It is the single thing—God's love—that humankind has come desiring.

The fact is that the bond of that love, which God has longed for while fighting for six thousand years, can today be formed in my individual self, be formed in our family, and be formed in our society and our nation.

One must know that the Unification Church boasts that it holds content more precious than what any humankind of the world, any nation of the world, holds.

Please keep in mind That We Were Called Upon a Foundation of Historic Han

This place, seen outwardly, is shabby. Until now it was a place that a vast number of people mocked. Not only that; it was a place where all sorts of humiliations were inflicted—being locked in prison, being struck with the whip, being spat upon.

The more severe the persecution striking from outside, the more there was something tightly bound and packed and piled up deep within our hearts.

What is it?

It is the mind that resolves to love God. And it is, for God, the mind that cannot but love the Son.

If, by this mind, a single origin that was not before in history and will not be after in history is prepared, this ideology will absolutely not perish.

When, from a place where we do not perish, we come forth holding on to these people, these people too will not perish. When such a people comes forth holding on to the world, this world will absolutely not perish.

One must know that this is the mainstream of Unification thought. One must know that Unification believers are the people who, centered on such a mainstream thought, stake their whole lives to go this road.

Unification believers must, sympathizing in mind, love this people and humankind of the world, which are in the standpoint of a pitiful orphan. One must know that to love them from the standpoint of an elder brother, from the standpoint of an elder sister, and further, from the standpoint of a parent, is the holy thought and view of living of Unification believers. Not only that—what is the single desire, dwelling in which God can bow His head and agree, in which God’s mercy and glory can dwell, in which infinite value and infinite honor can dwell, the single desire that the Unification Church asserts? It is to find the lost True Parents.

If there is the joy of finding the True Parents, meeting the parents, and being able to escape the state of an orphan, then in that place of meeting the parents, such a thing as one’s own authority is not an issue. And whatever nation one may be in, in which one can meet the parents, that is not an issue. Whatever it may be in the world is not an issue, I say.

One must clearly know that the place where, casting off all former things at once and going before the True Parents, one can pour out all the han-filled accounts of history piled up until now and be immersed in the infinite love of God that contrasts with the wretched heart of the past, is the nest in which Unification believers can finally rest.

Though the Unification believers who go forth toward that place are being persecuted in the three-thousand-ri peninsula, this has come to be regarded as a problem in Korea. Hereafter, entering the latter half of the twentieth century, this Unification thought will come to be regarded as a problem worldwide.

We were called here bearing such an enormous mission.

When I look back on myself, who took me?

When one looks back on the historic process one has passed through, one will come to feel of oneself that one equipped no content whatever by which one could be called before such an enormous purpose. The more one feels such a fact, one must, not denying the fact that one has been called but being convinced of it as an undeniable fact, give thanks to God, who called me lacking.

Furthermore, one must not forget the fact of how wretched a road of death of history lay across the process by which the lofty and precious God came seeking low and lowly me to form a bond.

Until we came to be called here, the blood of Abel had cried out, the han of Noah’s 120 years had dwelt within it, the han of the wayfarer state of Abraham, who left his homeland to attend God and lived a lonely wandering life, was steeped in it, the han of Isaac, who resolved to become an offering before God and complied before Abraham, was contained in it, and one must know that the heart of Jacob, who, in the land of Haran for twenty-one years, centered on the heart of restoring the Israelite people, yearned for his homeland, dwelt within it.

Furthermore, one must know that there was the han of the Israelite people, who, passing through the four-hundred-year period of bondage in Egypt and going toward the blessed land of Canaan, had countless of their people fall ill and collapse in the wilderness over forty years, and one must know that there was the han whereby the second generation who remained there, entering the land of Canaan, passed through countless conditions of indemnity centered on a new ideology of the temple until greeting the Messiah, and, suffering the invasion of gentile peoples, received the sorrow of a people without a nation.

And one must know that there also remains the han whereby Jesus, who came to Israel that had become a subject nation of Rome to greet one day of new hope, had a historic mission to bring Rome into submission but failed to achieve that mission. Not only that.

One must know that there was the historic han of the bloodshed by countless of our Christian ancestors over the two thousand years until now since Jesus departed. One must know that the infinitely lofty God connected all these to allow me.

You must never forget this undeniable fact—that you have been connected upon a foundation that has paid such historic conditions of han, requisites of sorrow, and the price of blood.

The Attitude We Must Hold Before God’s Purpose

Holding such a heart, one must know that, though I am lacking, there was God’s hidden purpose to set me up and, through me, bring to fruit the historic price.

Because God became a pitiful God and history became a pitiful history, one must know the fact that you and I, who have a pitiful history, were needed.

That is why we must hold within our minds and bodies the earnest heart that, without adding to the whole of our strength a hundredfold, a thousandfold, a ten-thousandfold strength and offering full loyalty and filial devotion to God, we cannot die even though our lives should end.

One must clearly know that, if one does not hold such a mind, one is a betrayer of God’s purpose, a betrayer of the desire of the historic ancestors, and a betrayer of this mission of the age.

The more one knows the fact of how the lofty and precious God labored to come seeking lowly and lowly me, the more one must know that even to straighten one’s collar, kneel, join one’s hands, and offer worship of thanks a thousand and ten thousand times before God is not enough.

God’s calling this body is because it is needed for Heaven’s good fight. Therefore, my own self must absolutely not become the state of a straggler who, having entered the front line of the good fight and fought, then turns back from that place.

We must become Unification believers who resolve rather to die. One must clearly know that this is the attitude we must hold and that we are selves who must stand in such a standpoint.

Since one is lacking, one must make a resolve contrary to it and make it many times over; and the more one feels a sense of lack when comparing oneself with a person equipped with all the conditions, the more one must redouble one’s resolve. One must know that Unification believers stand in such a standpoint.

Your selves have no merit, but behind you there is the foundation of merit of the ancestors who have come and gone in history until now, and, though you do not know it, because among countless tribes there is much merit that your ancestors piled up, one must know that the band born as the fruit of this merit piled up and up is your selves.

If it is undeniable that the band called and gathered thus is a band gathered as the fruit of the ancestors’ merit and a band God bound together among countless tribes, then the fate of the nation is swayed according as the band with such a background behind it moves.

However much blessing the Republic of Korea has, and however much it is in a trend of developing at present, all of that is nothing more than preparing a foundation to contribute to the world.

Setting you, who go on piling up all the core good records of the nation, in a place of being persecuted on behalf of the nation and people, in an unjust and lonely place, is not to make you perish.

We must know that it is God’s operation to bring everything into complete submission when one day, one time, comes.

That we are struck before these people is not because we are inferior. It is not that we are persecuted because we were born of the bloodline of evil ancestors who came and went in history. Though we were born holding an epochal fortune and a historic bond by which we could prosper more than anyone, God, striking such a small band, indemnifies the sorrow the people would suffer. That is, because, by our being struck in the stead of the bands that cannot but perish keeping beat with the trends of the world, what the people would have to be struck with is indemnified.

Because we today know such content, when we are sorrowful or when we run into difficulty, we have come forth, striking the ground and resolving, in order not to shed tears centered on ourselves.

Even when entering a place of starvation and entering the crossroads of life and death, we did not shed tears out of regret that we ourselves were dying.

One must not fail to know the undeniable historic fact that we have shed tears centered on the problem of what the road of these people will be and what the future of these people will be after we die.

Why We Have Been Persecuted

There may be people who have come to the Unification Church for the first time today, but one must clearly know the fact that the Unification Church set out bearing such an enormous mission and holds a history of having fought grounded in such a mission. That I am struck, driven, and persecuted, that the Unification Church is struck, driven, and persecuted, is not for our own sake. This is being struck in the stead of what these people should be struck with.

Furthermore, it is a holy hand of love by which, God striking us from a good standpoint, He may pardon the people.

When these people truly come to know such a thing, they will apologize a hundredfold for their past disloyalty and non-compliance and, straightening their collars, kneeling, and shedding tears, will repent.

When it becomes so, one must know that from that time the world of unification at last sets out. We have fought for such a purpose, and it is for such a purpose that we are living here today, and we hold a fate of having to make this decision of victory.

When it becomes so, these people will greet the day of liberation. Because these people are in a standpoint of having to greet the day of liberation worldwide, Heaven has driven the Unification Church worldwide in the stead of what Korea must be struck with worldwide.

One must know the fact that we have become an offering-like standpoint in the crevice between the democratic world and the communist world. Because we have passed through twenty-four years of history in this way, the Teacher believes that, once we come to have about thirty years of history hereafter, Korea will become a nation watched by the world.

One must know that we have prepared for such a day, that we rallied together to achieve such a purpose, that we scattered tears for this land to practice such a purpose, and that we shed tears of blood and struggled for these people.

On the road we have walked until now, considered individually, we are people of much han. The Teacher speaking here too, if he is called pitiful, is a person more pitiful than anyone upon this earth. He is a person who, even under the whip of the Japs (왜놈), carried on an underground movement for the liberation of this nation and this people. He is a person who, even in a place of suffering humiliation beyond words, endured injustice and indignation and came forth. He passed through a history of struggle to make these people greet one day of liberation.

Let Us Fight On Until the People Are Completely Liberated

I have not forgotten even now the tears I shed as I left this land. I have not forgotten those tears I shed to find this land.

Even when these people greeted liberation from a wretched place, I did not laugh and sing. The issue was whether I could digest as my own the day of joy that had been greeted. Therefore, I could not help but worry about the fate of Korea, which could not defend against the countless enemies.

When greeting the August 15 Liberation, countless people cried out with shouts of joy; the Teacher prayed before God for the purpose.

The Teacher, from that time until now, has received scores of obstructions before the people. Even at the crossroads of unjust accounts, though I sought to die, I could not even die. Why? Because the Teacher knew that there remained a mission by which he must not die. Even when, wearing iron chains, I knocked at the gate of the prison, the countless people who went this road went this road shedding tears with grievous hearts, but the Teacher did not go with such a heart.

As a man bearing the mission to carry on God’s heart, just as Jacob did in the historic process, I have not forgotten that day when I sought the prison with joy to gain the motive and source that would kindle fire in the hearts of countless humankind for tens of thousands of ages.

Even in prison, though it was unjust and grievous to suffer added persecution and insult, even in that environment I made every effort not to lose my fidelity toward Heaven, clutching my heart at God’s circumstances. I have lived busily in a place no one could endure and no one could know.

In 1950, when the June 25 War (6·25) broke out, the Teacher set out toward the land of South Korea several months later. In such a historic process, while the Teacher was coming, yearning for the land of South Korea, as I crossed the 38th parallel, I prayed before God. Because I well knew why the three-thousand-ri peninsula I had yearned for, the promised land of Heaven, this nation and this people, had today become like this, I could not but pray as I crossed the 38th parallel.

Thinking that a final decisive battle remained in the land of South Korea, I resolved to fight on, braving whatever difficulty of environment. It was not once or twice that I resolved upon death.

Even now the Teacher has not greeted that day he longed for, promising and vowing before God.

If a wretched place of vanishing like the dew should be greeted, how will this man die?

Because I have not yet gone forth to that place I sought, resolving that I would die in such-and-such a way, the Teacher’s mission remains, and the Teacher’s road remains, I say. Until that day comes, we must fight.

Until that day comes, we must drive out the band of villains who gnaw at this people and ruin this people. Let us endure this, restraining our indignant hearts, I say.

If even so these people fail to realize, we must rally comrades throughout all the nations of the world and prepare one day on which we can liberate these people.

Though the Unification Church has until now been driven by the people, hereafter a time will without fail come when it can be welcomed by the world.

The Sunhwa Children’s Dance Troupe, Boasting of Korea’s Culture

Now the advanced nations that resolve to build the culture of the latter half of the twentieth century have entered a sphere where they can regard Unification thought as a problem.

So, to greet one day on which we can boast of Korea’s culture before humankind of the world, we founded the Sunhwa Children’s Dance Troupe. Though we did this work by borrowing tens of millions of won of funds that went into it, not one person, even among our Unification Church members, sympathized from the heart. Yet in the end they came to know that the Teacher was right.

We came to know that, however hard our struggle in doing that work, if there is the ability to push that struggle through and there is a bond that God can join in, it absolutely does not perish.

Even entertainment troupes trained for decades; when they went into the cultural world of America and performed received criticism from them and collapsed and perished; but when we gathered little children, trained them for the short period of three years, and, believing in God’s working, went to America and performed, from the very first performance they received a great welcome. You must know that this is a historic miracle.

Before the little ones performed, we joined and, shedding tears, prayed, “O God the Father, let the figures of these little ones who are to perform this time not be seen merely as the figures of little ones. These are Thy messengers, bearing the heavenly command as people of Heaven, so let them subdue the culture of America.” Because they thus yearned for Heaven, one must know the fact that they stepped forth bearing such a solemn mission to carry out the heavenly command.

After the performance ended, what the little ones said to one another was that, strangely, when they prayed and went out on stage, they danced well and did not make mistakes. It cannot but be so.

However skilled others may be, however larger in form and richer in content than us, they cannot but submit before us, I say.

Because we hold a relationship with America that cannot be severed, try as one might, we made the Korean-American Cultural Foundation. Now, once we cross beyond the 1960s, we enter a sphere where we can freely move funds of more than a million dollars.

This time, the Teacher commanded the Japan Association president that our Sunhwa Children’s Dance Troupe, whose renown has risen worldwide, should perform in Japan.

In Asia, the Korean people, who once boasted of a brilliant culture, have not been trampled and thrown into the gutter and left to collapse. A day when they bloom again will without fail come. For that day, to move Asia, one must tread upon and rise above the land of Japan, I say.

So this time I pushed forward the Japan performance. The Japan performance, too, because there was not much time, was prepared only three months ahead. What should have been prepared a year ahead was prepared three months ahead.

Such a task is a task that even the government of the Republic of Korea cannot do. Because the Japanese family members can do anything to the point that, if the Teacher commands them to die for that nation, they would die, it was possible to mobilize them and do such a task.

The person responsible for this task, Association President Kuboki (구보끼, 久保木修己), came seeking the Teacher before the performance and said, How would it be to fix the performance places anew and shorten the performance period?

Because the Teacher knew why he said such a thing, saying that to retreat without even fighting is the weakest of the weak, I asked him to make the admission fee expensive so as not to fail in the Japan performance.

Until now, the art troupes that crossed over from Korea all did a false thing. We must absolutely not be so, I say. Korean people must absolutely not lose, I say. Rather, through the organization of the Japanese, using the money of the Japanese, one must be able to boast of the national culture of Korea.

The Unification Church has, until now, been suppressed before the Japanese people. But when the Teacher went to Japan in 1967, he raised a great whirlwind.

When it was heard that Teacher Moon of the Unification Church was coming to their country, newspaper reporters requested an interview with me. Because high officials and heads of state, when asked to meet, readily comply, they thought I too would meet them.

But by no means did they know the Teacher. The Teacher did not meet them. I drove them away at the gate. At that, they became indignant, you see? So, making up things said and unsaid, they began to make a fuss over the Unification Church. Do it if you will, I say. But you yourselves will not last long, I say. That too is necessary for publicity.

So the Teacher became, in about forty days, a great figure unprecedented in Japanese history. In the end, I became the center of talk in the Japanese press world of 1967.

The content about the Unification Church became top news. In a period of about forty days, we obtained the effect of publicity worth about 580 million won in publicity expense. About 280 media organs were mobilized.

So in Japan, when it comes to Teacher Sun Myung Moon, from the tip of Hokkaido to Kagoshima, no one above elementary school age does not know him.

Whether inside a streetcar or anywhere, down to every village and every alley of the whole country, all came to know the Teacher. Thereupon, young men, shaking off their parents’ opposition, quit even university, ran out of their homes, and became new people who serve the nation even while begging for their food.

Regardless of being some minister’s son, when they cast off all their signboards and stepped forth, their younger siblings too followed along, throwing away everything and following their elder brothers. Even running into their parents’ opposition, it was no issue, I say.

One Who Does Not Love Me Cannot Love God

The media organs of Japan came and made a fuss, saying, Let us meet Teacher Moon of the Unification Church. Do you think I would meet them merely because they do so?

Even in Korea, I did not meet newspaper reporters for decades, I say. I meet them when the Teacher wishes to meet them; do you think I would meet them merely because they wish to meet me?

Until now they have struck us, drawn our blood, stabbed and torn us, and said all sorts of things, and we have been reviled to the utmost. Since they have already pinned on us every sin, real and unreal, is there still something left to revile?

Now it cannot be so, I say. The other time too, a certain daily newspaper company came saying they would do something for us if only they could meet Teacher Moon of the Unification Church, and when I told them I am not a merchant, they were apparently quite disappointed.

When the Teacher went to Japan this time too, because he appeared and vanished like the wind, like a cloud, without a trace, the newspaper reporters, unable to write top news, tried as they might, came to ask our officers as courteously as if facing their teacher, I say. They telephoned and asked when the Teacher would come and go, I say.

That is why, from now on, when the Teacher goes abroad, the Unification Church family members must not come out to the airport.

Do you understand what I mean?

The Teacher does not like such things. The Teacher greatly dislikes many people swarming out in a crowd like utterly foolish people and making a racket.

If one appears without having achieved the purpose, a label of “loser” comes to be attached. Because the purpose the Teacher is going forth beholding has not yet been achieved, let us meet after achieving that purpose, when the mood is good. Do you understand?

The Teacher may depart this very evening. The plane ticket is ready anytime. If I only telephone one hour before departing, everything is ready, so I can depart at once, I say. That is why what I wish to tell you is that, to become a self that can be a plus before the purpose, you must keep your wits straight and act. Do you understand? “Yes.” At Gimpo Airport too, no one but those I designate is to come out, I say. Do you understand? Do you understand or not? Those who will promise, raise your hands. Lower them. Those who will not promise, raise your hands. There are none.

The Teacher even now dislikes having pictures taken. Behind the Teacher, a label was always attached. So, when I studied abroad in Japan and sought to return home, word was already sent ahead. It said, Mister Moon is now going home, so keep close watch.

So when I got off at the wharf, someone I did not know would say, “Are you arriving now? I am a detective.” And thereafter, they would keep trailing along right behind me.

One who does not love me cannot love God. One who does not love his parents cannot love the nation. Furthermore, one who cannot love himself cannot love his parents. Only by loving one’s own self can one love one’s parents, love the nation, love the world, and love God.

That is why, before hoping to govern the universe, govern the self, I say. Without setting up the individual, who is such an enormous substance of love, in the standpoint of the subject, the family too is impossible, the nation too is impossible, the state, and the world too are impossible. That is why, unless one is a person who knows how to love oneself completely, one cannot love the complete God.

Without standing in a standpoint of being able to love oneself completely, one fails in loving God. That is why a person who has come to stand in a place where he can conclude that he loves himself can become a first-rate bride to greet Jesus.

Accordingly, one must stand in a place where one can say, “I, being such-and-such, am a first-rate bride,” I say.

Let Us Take the Lead in Saving the People

Until now, in Japan, Mindan (민단) carried on activity centered on the press and was defeated. The Teacher thought that Mindan must not stop here. That is why our Unification Church is active. Then they opposed us, saying, What has come again from Korea?

What people are stepping forth?

The Teacher told them to confront and fight against it. So now many Japanese are welcoming us.

The Teacher told the Japan Unification Church family members to study hard to arm themselves with anti-communist thought by August 1968. I asked them to arm themselves with the Principle by April and, arming themselves with anti-communist thought by August, to go before the headquarters of the Japanese Communist Party and wage ideological combat. Let us criticize Marx’s theory, I say.

Let us criticize the theories they speak of—Das Kapital, dialectics, and historical materialism. Did they study desperately at the risk of their lives as we did? They cannot match our theory, I say.

If they cannot match it, they cannot help but lose to us. I asked them to hang a blackboard on the street and lecture openly.

So, if they cannot match our theory, they lose. So let us suffer hardship and fight for just a few years, I say. So from this year, let us go attack them, I say. The Teacher has planned and prepared for this from seven years ago. Hereafter we will not be defeated by them, I say.

When the Teacher was holding an event in Daejeon, detectives from the intelligence agency (정보부) came out and picked a quarrel. “Ah, is this the Unification Church?

What kind of place is the Unification Church?

Who are these people? What do the witnessing-team members do?” they said, telling the Teacher to wake up from his dream. However much they do so, our Unification Church holds historic content that can move the people, I say.

A time will come hereafter when we can lead the whole people of one district, one village, over to our side; the people cannot but welcome the Unification Church. At that time we will remind them of the bygone days in which, gathering them together, we walked on, resolving upon victory to save the people even while being persecuted.

That is why today’s young men and women, boys and girls, must become people who resolve to live to save humankind.

Not only those in their twenties and thirties, but those in their forties and fifties too must step forth, resolving to save my nation and my people. When it becomes so, one day these people will be found. On the day these people come to know our bygone days, they cannot but bow their heads before us and shed tears.

We hold content that cannot be exchanged even if given hundreds of millions in gold. You must know that the Unification Church holds such traditional content.

In Japan too, the Unification Church family members are tenacious. It was our Sunhwa children who sold all the admission tickets to the art performance. Being thus well trained, they have, in name and reality both, the qualification to be concerned for the people, I say. The adults said that if they went out to do sales activity, they would only suffer disgrace, so please let us stop. Yet, they being intellectuals, could they do such a thing? But the Sunhwa children went about centered on cultural districts, singing songs and so on, and so people bought from them, I say.

We have, until now, done all the things we do not by relying on the nation but entirely by our effort. When we were in Japan, seeking to set up the face of our nation, we could not go and lodge at a hotel elsewhere, nor could we lodge at a hotel divided into groups of a few; so being in such a plight, we asked the nation to bear at least the hotel expenses.

We have done such maddening tasks. I will say no more about this, but the Unification Church has done such tasks to exalt the prestige of our nation. Now, since it has become a time when they too can understand, the Teacher speaks so boldly.

The Principle Is What No One Can Defy

You must know that we are a band that, in the byways of the historic course, in such a wretched and sorrowful place, driven and chased and colliding, embracing sorrowful hearts, has survived by breaking through everything.

If there is a person who, toward such a Unification Church, lives for his profit, he will be caught by the heavenly law.

Until now there has been no fellow who prospered by making use of Teacher Moon of the Unification Church. Until now the Teacher has continually been taken advantage of. Knowing that he is being taken advantage of, he lets himself be taken advantage of. Even if a million won or ten million won is taken advantage of, the one taken advantage of does not perish.

When it comes back around again, it comes back multiplied several times over, you see. Because he knows such a thing, the Teacher has come out alive, not dying, even on a road of death where he could not but perish. The Teacher has carried on a history of, by such an operation, leaving behind people who could save me from the enemies. You must know that.

Among the people who worked for the purpose, if there is a person who, saying, “As the Unification Church stretches out worldwide, now I too will be able to rise in the world,” comes forth sticking out his belly, he cannot be pardoned. As long as that person remains, he ruins other people.

Even if he is an old man of eighty, there is no help for it. Still, that is all right, is it not? “Yes.” One must oneself rise to a fixed line conforming to the principle. That is why, when you encounter such a thing, do not complain, I say.

Even when, in 1965, the Teacher met former President Eisenhower of America one-on-one, I told him the Teacher’s view from economic, political, and national aspects, placing before him the problem that, unless America supports the Republic of Korea, America cannot but perish. Moreover, I exchanged various opinions for ending the Vietnam War.

This time the Teacher intends to do a great worldwide education. I wish to gather all the substantial people, educate them, and have them do the work. If I do so, would it be good for you or bad? “Good.”

Speaking like this, it has in the end become a self-promotion of the Teacher himself. One must promote oneself a bit. (Laughter.) Since you do not know well, let us promote it even just to inform you, I say.

In the matter of anti-communism too, when I asked the Japanese to carry out an anti-communist movement, all their eyes went around. Because the Teacher studied in Japan when Korea was under Japanese oppression, he has much interest in Japan. That is why the Teacher gave the Japanese family members anti-communist education and told them to carry out an anti-communist movement.

Since the Teacher tells them, could they not do it?

Since if they do not carry out an anti-communist movement, all will die, when asked, “Will you do it or not?” they are bound to say, “We will.” So, having carried out an anti-communist movement, they say it really feels real.

So within half a year, we came to be able to use all the propaganda bases of the Liberal Democratic Party (자민당). When it became so, the Liberal Democratic Party cooperated with the Unification Church, saying it is we who ought to be carrying out the anti-communist movement.

There are not many Christian believers in Japan. There are about 300,000, and to absorb them to our side is no problem. They are bound, once just a few years pass, to be absorbed into us of themselves, I say.

The average age of our family members carrying out the anti-communist movement in Japan was about twenty-three. If one kindles fire under them, they cannot walk but will run.

Though Christianity is said now, in name and reality both, to have surrounded the whole world, it is in a situation of being brainwashed by pro-communist forces and nodding off toward death. Yet when the Unification Church came forth with a new ideology and waged ideological combat with the Communist Party on the streets, at first the Communist Party crowd swarmed in with a roar, but later they withdrew one by one, and in the end all retreated and grew quiet.

When the press world came to know this, saying they had not known the Unification Church was so formidable, they are publicizing that, to relieve the han of the thirty-six years of Japanese oppression and avenge it, we seek to sell off the entire Japanese people. I saw and heard such publicity being made.

Even so, to save Japan, the Unification Church crowd went to the universities and, in summer, even to the streets and picnic sites, begging for their food and waging ideological combat with the Communists. While receiving much persecution, digging in, and going through a secret organization, now the activity in Japan is greatly reviving.

When at first I told the Japanese family members to carry out anti-communist activity, their eyes went around, but having carried out anti-communist activity as the Teacher said, now they say thank you to the Teacher. In Japan, the anti-communist activity is going along like this.

The Victory-Over-Communism Movement That Has Taken Root

Until now, when the Teacher went to Busan or anywhere, personnel of the intelligence agency or the Public Security Bureau would trail right behind the Teacher, but for this nation and these people to defeat the Communist Party, they must, in any case, accept the doctrine of the Unification Church.

To defeat the Communist Party, they must accept the doctrine of the Unification Church. If the Communist Party is clearly the enemy of God, the Unification Church must without fail drive them out from upon the earth. That is why, in principle, one ought to organize through the police stations and carry out activity and education from the provinces, but we have fought the Communist Party single-handedly without receiving anyone’s help. So people all come to be filled with admiration. We must educate about three million people like this.

You must know the fact that in this Seven-Year Course we have, keeping vigil through countless nights, we have walked hundreds of ri and scores of ri, seeking every nook and cranny of the three-thousand-ri land, and lived despised.

History will surely testify to that. As our activity expanded from the county to the province and from the province to the center, now even the intelligence agency cannot ignore us.

If there is anyone here who has come from the Presbyterian Church, mark this well. Though Presbyterians have until now, trusting only in their large numbers, treated us like a stepchild, now they say, what use is a head grown large with no hands and feet?

The other time, a certain responsible person of the Presbyterian Church telephoned the South Jeolla branch of the Victory Over Communism Federation and asked to meet the provincial branch head, I say. Meeting our branch head, what he said was, “The head is larger on our side, but the hands and feet—the Unification Church’s Victory Over Communism Federation—are larger.

The roads differ a little, but the root is the same,” he said. Of course it is so. Though until now they treated the Unification Church like a stepchild, since in reality they are pushed back, there is no help for it. It is the same with the Anti-Communist League. They will come to know that we hold content that can be so. Such a foundation has been laid, I say.

Now, centered on victory-over-communism thought as a core ideology, one must set up a firm foundation of victory, and you must know that we must, with this, make it a point of departure for a great development in Asia hereafter. Considering all these things, though what we have done until now looked at first like failure, there is not one thing that has failed.

The Teacher is keeping vigil through the night, thinking of how the Unification Church will resolve all the problems turning worldwide these days.

The Unification Church, Holding a Bloodstained Account

However much all the people of the Republic of Korea may regard the Teacher as an enemy and revile him, one must laugh. Though inwardly the mood is bad, outwardly one must laugh. So you too, if the Teacher works, must support him, I say. Will you, or will you not? “We will.” Even if there arises a matter of dying, is it all right? “Yes.” I have made people in the Republic of Korea who support me.

If you dislike it, drop it. If you do not support me, I will bring foreign big noses or Black folk and set them up as supporters in your stead.

Last year, among the top news of Christianity, in the second item, something about the Unification Church was carried. The reporters also said that in 1968 the Unification Church greatly developed. So they do know, it seems. Those who testify to the Unification Church must appear.

Until now, the press organs were in the dark about the Unification Church. From now on we must leave behind such events, I say. Good, is it not? “Yes.” So you must move to the point of your legs breaking. All right, is it not? “Yes.” Even if you come to die working so, you must not resent the Teacher. Die embracing the Teacher.

If you do so, you do not perish, I say. That said, the Teacher is no swindler. Once time passes, you will come to know it all. Is it not so? “Yes.” Women, is it so, or not? “It is so.” That is why, because women, while not listening to their husbands’ words, say they will listen to my words, I am reviled, you see.

Just think how much the Teacher wrung out his sweat and how his marrow melted in laying the foundation to this point. To lay a foundation to the degree that women step forth saying they will listen to the Teacher’s words while not listening to the words of their parents, their husbands, and their sons and daughters, it was not done just haphazardly. Because there was a foundation of a tearful account piercing to the marrow and a bloodstained account, no one can ever break this.

Since the true Unification believers are the band that resolves to go the road of the purpose, even offering their lives, one must work tenaciously. Do you understand?

Since Unification believers are a crowd that resolves to swallow up even the Communist Party whole, we must carry on activity that can strengthen ourselves from an overall aspect.

The Unification Church now does not perish. Even if the whole Republic of Korea is mobilized to oppose the Teacher, it does not perish. Even if the Teacher dies, it does not perish. It can unify the world. God’s purpose does not perish. That such a foundation was laid in about the twenty-odd years of the Teacher’s single generation is the achievement of a worldwide miracle.

Boasting of this miracle, we must save these people and found a new worldwide current in which all the people of the world can love and serve Korea as their homeland—as a first homeland, not a second homeland.

You must know that this can be brought about, and more than enough, through the record and historic facts of the Teacher’s fighting and winning, more than through teaching by way of the Principle. So you must advance with vigor, I say.

What will we do in the end?

One must know that God begins housekeeping centered on this earth. God begins housekeeping centered on this earth, I say. Have you heard such words? Among blessed words, there is no word more blessed than this.

If it is said that God begins housekeeping upon this earth, then if you knew that place, would you go see it, or not? Would you not wish to go see it, even selling off all your property? Whether one asks or not, anyone would wish to go see it.

That is why, once our Korea only crosses over such a standard, all the people of the world will sell their gold, silver, and treasures and come seeking, humming the tune of Arirang.

Do you know what that Arirang is?

Why is Arirang Arirang? The Teacher thinks thus. Taking the character 愛 (ae, love), the character 離 (ri, to part), and then the character 郞 (rang, bright and clear), it is “Aerirang,” which, I think, became Arirang. It means “finding again, on a clear and bright day, the lost love.”

What do the tears shed while singing this song of Arirang turn into?

They turn into joy. Embracing the sorrowful account of a thousand years and longing for ten thousand years, one must cross over this “Aerirang” ridge and meet in one place. One must live once again in that place. It must become so.

If it becomes so, would it be good or bad? Hereafter, the Teacher intends to compose a song of Arirang.

Let the Three-Thousand-Ri Peninsula Become One That Attends God

Now we must plant a flag by which Korea can live. We have been gathered here to praise God’s victory in every place where that flag is raised high. This place, seen outwardly, is nothing. Perhaps our present Unification Church building, if someone bought it, would fetch about twenty million won.

Most people have a large house and live only with their family. But the Teacher, though living in an utterly small and shabby house like a cave, holds the dream of once cooking up the world. That dream is not bad, is it? One must know that only when one can dance in this dream and dance in another dream too can one rule two worlds.

A certain person who thinks he is something, looking at the Cheongpa-dong headquarters church building, says that though the Unification Church raises problems worldwide, why is the headquarters building so shabby?

Even the Teacher sees it as shabby. The roof is cracked and a mess. But the reason the Teacher leaves it just so is not that there is no money to repair that tiled roof. It is to save the money that could repair the roof and use it for the people, I say.

Spending tens of millions of won, we are carrying out the trans-denominational movement and victory-over-communism activity. On the day this someday sprouts and grows, these people will understand the Unification Church.

When we consider the historic fact that, for these people, boys and girls fought by selling their blood, we long for one day when these people, coming to know such a fact, will wail, and we are even now advancing to greet that day in the three-thousand-ri land. That my house is wounded is not the issue. As long as this nation and these people are wounded, my house cannot be at peace. Seen from this point, now you must set out on the road of the inner bond to resolve such problems.

The year 1969 is a significant period in which, to find the lost world, in Asia one must cross over from the fate of the people to the fate of the nation—that is, the highest ridge. In Asia all the more, one must cross over the highest ridge.

Now, once the Teacher leaves Korea, I intend, with such resolve, to make a world tour for about one hundred days.

Now the Unification believers who have newly entered here too, whatever way they lived in the past, must establish a tradition centered on this enormous thought.

The older person must, denying his past, sacrifice, and the younger person must become a laborer for the future of the Unification Church. Thereby, setting up this thought as a single point before these people and nation, one must advance all together until the moment that purpose can be achieved.

So it must become a three-thousand-ri peninsula in which, loving the people and loving the nation, one can live having set up and attended God, and it must become a three-thousand-ri peninsula in which the thirty million people raise both hands to welcome God, and a worldwide event occurs in which the whole sovereignty of this nation praises God.

Thereby, one must clearly know that the road Unification believers go is to prepare a foundation that can be an original motive by which, not only unifying the world but also able to direct it, a new historic age is opened not only in the twentieth century but even scores of centuries hence.

Adding a heart of singleness to each of your minds, you must fulfill God’s purpose, I say. Not slighting the small value of yourself, but thinking of your value a hundredfold, a thousandfold greater, you must know how to die for the nation and know how to die for the people.

God-ism (Unification-ism)

While the Teacher is absent, as I have charged you, I ask that, from the headquarters to all the family members scattered throughout the Republic of Korea and even the family members of every district, you carry on activity that can be a model to all people, and that you not become ones who lose and damage the tradition. Do you understand? “Yes.”

Since we bear a mission and responsibility unlike others, we must act unlike others. The issue is where to bring God’s love to fruit. Of course, in my individual self, but one must bring it to fruit even in my family and my tribe.

Our Unification Church is a single unified tribe. The unified tribe must, centered on goodness, form a unified national form, bring God’s love to fruit, and found a unified world.

We must, with our own two eyes, clearly watch the democratic world be kept from decaying, and the communist world perish and cross over.

Thereby, one must achieve a single Unification-ism. What kind of -ism is that -ism? It is not the -ism of a certain Moon of the Unification Church. That -ism is not something the Teacher made because his head is good, nor something obtained by studying much. It is not something the Teacher fabricated. What the Teacher teaches you is not the Teacher’s -ism. This is Unificationism, and Unification-ism is precisely Godism.

Therein dwells God’s nature, therein dwells God’s circumstance that can commune with living, and therein dwells God’s desire. It also holds content that can be a laborer of the heart. That -ism is precisely God-ism and, at the same time, Unification-ism. The Teacher has merely taught such content. It is not that, knowing this -ism, I tell you to uphold Teacher Moon of the Unification Church.

You must know that it is the Teacher’s mind to wish that, before loving me, you first love God, and, after being recognized by God, love the Teacher.

The one thing the Teacher is anxious about is this: how many among you will be there who, even after I die, centered on a mind of love that loves God, love the Unification Church family members, and how many there will be who, over the death of the Teacher, who goes without having fully given that love by which he so wished to love God, can weep at that heart.

If you can all be so, then even if, when the Teacher dies, you bury him any old way in the burial hills (북망산천), I will not blame you. If the passion of love toward God blooming in your hearts can overturn the origin of history, push aside the epochal current of history, and stretch out valiantly in an evil environment, then, though I become a handful of earth in the burial hills, I will with joy sing praise to God and offer glory and blessing-prayer to God for tens of thousands of ages.

Our Korean people must become a worldwide people. Therefore, to establish the thought and tradition of a worldwide people, the Teacher has devoted his life and worked.

If among our family members there is a band that, with such a Teacher before them, quarrels over qualifications among family members, reviles one another among family members, and seeks to trample one another among family members, they must all perish. The public law of the heavenly way will deal with such things.

The Teacher has until now passed through various ages and is even passing through them. Until now there have been many who oppose the Unification Church, but the Teacher has not cursed them.

To love the one one loves and hate the one one hates is the same as the evil bands of the world.

If the Teacher were to curse the people who hate God, it would become a curse even for their descendants, and, through one person’s mistake, it would become a matter of blocking the future road of descendants down to a thousand and ten thousand generations.

If God had cursed fallen humankind, the future road of humankind would have been blocked. But because He did not do so, just as the hope of the providence of salvation remains in the history of humankind, the Teacher too, because he inherited that tradition and mind of love, even when the enemy drove him to a road of death, has until now poured out a cup of blessing for them and congratulated them to prosper—you must know this. This is the thought that the teacher of the Unification Church has borne and come forth with, and it is a fact you cannot deny, having seen and experienced it over many years while attending the Teacher.

Though the Teacher is one holding a han of Heaven that would not be relieved even if he drew a sword and struck the heads of the thirty million people of this nation who stand in the standpoint of enemy and tore their breasts to shreds, because he knows that the road of love is a road that must love such human beings all the more, he must at least explain for the sake of that person the fact that this is how the love of God the Teacher has borne is. Because he must do such a task, you must know the fact that the Teacher all the more feels the necessity of his remaining.

You must know that there is no better revenge than to raise the descendants who are despairing before the graves of their dead ancestors, awaken them to what their ancestors did wrong, and have them of themselves kneel and repent.

Press On All the More in Spreading Unification Thought to This People

You must know that, centered on love standing in for such a traditional heart of God, we are beginning a march of victory in achieving unification. It was because I wished that, in that rank, as heavenly soldiers who keep the tradition, holding pride, you would become great figures who can shine forever for ten thousand ages and remain in the annals of history that I gathered you in such a place and have until now led you along, enlisting you on the road of persecution.

Knowing that the Teacher is such, certainly, before you die, you must model yourself upon such a thought.

If you come to die and fail to achieve God’s purpose, you cannot establish a tradition that, of course, your descendants, the Republic of Korea, and the world can welcome with both hands raised.

You must clearly know that, unless you become a people that can set up face, dignity, and tradition not only before our descendants living in this homeland but also before all the people of the world, you cannot relieve your han even in death.

We were born for such a mission, and we must live for such a mission. For such a mission, we must become true revolutionary fighters who resolve to plant the tradition in our descendants, show this tradition to these people, die, and become men of ability whom God remembers.

So we must go this road to offer our lives for the homeland and the people, like Admiral Yi Sun-sin, whom the people commemorate, like Nongae, who, in the lowly body of a gisaeng, died for the nation.

History will without fail come to greet one day of resurrection. If we live so and die, then even in death we can be resurrected, marking that day. Therefore, I ask that you become ones who can quickly advance on the road of contributing before the purpose. Do you understand? “Yes.”

Our minds must love God, our family must love God, our tribe must love God, and our people and nation must love God. So we must greet a day when God can bless us before the nation and the world, saying, “My son and daughter, my people.”

Thereby, becoming warriors and standard-bearers who found a new culture toward the world, these people must set up the face and dignity of a homeland of the world.

You must trust firmly as iron that such things are set up only through Unification thought, and you must hold such thought; and, asking most earnestly that even during the period the Teacher is absent, you can plant such thought within the environment in which you are placed, I will end the Teacher’s words.

Prayer
Father! This hour I have stood in this place. In what place art Thou present? We have come to know that there is not any throne in that high space, nor any place of tradition holding some brilliant history of culture.

We have come to know that at the time of creation, what Thou desired was to be present in the mind of one man who, truly yearning and yearning for God, even in a place where the eyes grow bleary and the nerves stiffen, loves God and longs for God, and to be present in the mind of such one woman, O Father.

We know that Thou wast a Father who, after being present in the minds of such a man and woman, wished to call them all My love and, further, wast a Father who wished to meet them in a new bond, crossing over the Arirang ridge.

We have come to know that mind of Thine, by which, when that man and that woman came to stand, centered on the bond of the True Parents, in a place equipped with the historic ancestors’ foundation of heart, Thou wished to be present directly upon it. We have come to know that Thou wished to be present at the center of that family.

When it became so, the love too would have been Thou, and the whole of living too would have been Thou. We have come to know that Thou wast a Father who wished to love the children who passed through such a bloodline bond of the parents, a Father who wished to embrace those sons and daughters with a broad, lofty, and deep hand of love, and a Father who wished to prepare a place where one could love with a tearful love and a tearful heart.

Unification believers well know that it remains as a han for tens of thousands of ages that Thou wished, upon such a family of peace and upon those children, to plant peace and love deep-rooted, and, centered on that family, to form the Four Position Foundation and achieve a foundation of welfare upon this earth.

We have come to know the fact that, to greet one day on which such a foundation of welfare could be achieved, Thou hast, for six thousand years, connected on and on a bitter road of death. We have come to know that countless prophets and martyrs piled up sacrificial offerings. We know that countless people were sacrificed in places of lamentation, injustice, and wretchedness.

We know that Thy calling my one self to pay all this price is the Father’s love, to have a model man and woman and a single family formed. And we have clearly come to know that Thou desirest that the Father, being present as the subject center upon that family, should dwell upon the families of all people of ten thousand ages.

So Thy children must know how to feel of themselves that they are defiled and defiled, ugly selves, and to feel a shame such that they cannot lay their bodies before Heaven and earth.

We must become figures who, even on a road of death a thousand and ten thousand times, can yearn for the Father’s mercy and crave the Father’s hand of sympathy, and we must become children who can stretch out our hands toward Heaven and call the Father until our throats burst, and, until the cells go numb, call out “Father” as if mad.

Grant, O Father, we earnestly hope and desire that we may become Thy children who, lamenting that we are a fallen bloodline that cannot become a man and woman bodily bearing the love Thou desired, love the coming Messiah and know how to prepare to greet that Messiah.

Grant that the beloved children gathered in this place and the children scattered throughout the world may be able to hold within their minds a mind of loving Thee. To do so, we must love ourselves, love our family, and love our tribe, people, and nation. We have come to know that, without doing so, we cannot love God.

We have come to know the fact that love is not a love formed from today’s notions of bloodline human morality but is what achieves a new historic origin. We have come to know the fact that, without connecting from the center to the collateral organizations centered on a new religious ideology and integrating this and making a place that connects to the heart of the True Parents by a single thought of the Second Advent, it will not do.

Grant us to know that those who, yearning for such a place, have until now for six thousand years walked such a road, walked the course of orphans, walked the course of thorns, and lived as lodgers. Yet though their figures and plights were so, since in their minds alone, we know, there was Thy love, grant that within the minds of Thy children gathered here, Thy love alone may shine. Grant that, by such a bond, we may grasp the whole heavenly world in our hands, have the history of the past be sucked in here, have the present age be wound and turned here, and open a road of new hope for the future.

Grant, O Father, we earnestly hope and desire that in such a red mind we may hold a mind that can love the Father, and that we may become the sons and daughters who hold a red mind of resolving to offer full loyalty toward Heaven.

Grant, we earnestly hope and desire that Thou wilt guide us to become children of unification who, shattering the notional faith we have carried on until now, carry on a life of attendance in which we can feel the Father as real within our living.

Now grant that, even if we become the state of wayfarers in the three-thousand-ri peninsula, we may attend the Father; even in a place of begging for our food, we may attend the Father; and even if we live a wretched life in a thatched hut of three rooms, we may become children who can attend the Father.

Thy children scattered throughout every nook and cranny of the three-thousand-ri land must, within the environments in which they are placed, attend the Father, setting up one by one symbolic conditions of indemnity and image conditions of indemnity so that someday the Father can be present.

Grant, O Father, we earnestly hope and desire that Thou wilt let us clearly realize that there remains a field of mission in which we Unification believers must without fail fulfill such a fundamental responsibility in the three-thousand-ri peninsula.

We have greeted the last holy day of January. Now this month too has five days remaining. Pardon us that, once again embracing the sorrow of the bygone year, we have passed this one month.

From next month, it seems this place must be left vacant for a while, so, Father, keep this place. Certainly, so that the Father can be present directly, each one must make a sanctuary upon his foundation, pile an altar, and fulfill the way of loyalty and filial devotion before the Father. Thereby grant that we may become laborers of unification who can bear the office of high priest, which can remain even though this world perishes.

This hour too, protect Thy children who, in every place of the world, long to meet me and are fretting in their hearts for Korea.

Grant that this tour course may by no means become a human road. If it becomes such a road, block the road I go and guide it so that it can be joined solely by the Father’s purpose.

I do not wish to come into contact with the aspect of the living of American culture.

Nor do I desire any craving of the world. However wretched a place the place I stay in may be, if there is the Father’s love and it is a place in which the Father can rejoice, I wish to stay there.

If the place I wish to go is a place not fitting before Thee, block it, Thyself; and if the place I wish to go is a place Thou welcome and a place where Thy purpose can be achieved, grant, we earnestly hope and desire, that Thou Thyself wilt guide me.

In every place I go and with every person I meet, be with me, Father. Grant that, by the tears of blood of the devotion Thy children have offered, all the historic accounts of all the nations upon this planet Earth (지구성, 地球星) may be gathered.

Grant, we earnestly hope and desire that, grasping the Father’s circumstances through experience and returning, I may, through this tour period, gather content that can once again urge on the original mission in the stead of Heaven and earth.

Father! Certainly keep me until that day, and, with a mind of loving this place, love Thy children scattered throughout the various nations. Grant, we earnestly ask and desire that we may become Thy beloved children who keep the holy ground that becomes a foundation for Thy presence.

Earnestly asking only that Thou wilt Thyself be with us in the remaining time also, we have spoken all these words upholding the holy name of the True Parents. Amen.
