God set as His goal the realization of a world of goodness and created Adam and Eve. He sought to realize the ideal of creation centered on them. Yet Adam and Eve fell midway. That became the very first among the grave events in God’s course of history and in the course of human history. Because such an event occurred, an unintended history of misfortune began. Thereby a history of misfortune began even in the inner, substantial world. Therefore, how to liquidate this history of misfortune cannot but be a problem for both God and human beings.

Human History Began in Sorrow

Human history began not with joy but with sorrow and set out not amid hope and expectation but amid disappointment and despair. Moreover, it set out not toward a bright new morning but toward a night amid deepening dusk.

So this history of misfortune must be liquidated. This world of darkness must, without fail, be liquidated, and we must advance toward the world of purpose that God desires, toward the world of light. For this, God could not but work His providence, raising the noun “salvation.”

Then what is salvation?

In a word, it is returning to the original state. Then there will be a standard even in returning to the original state; what would that standard be? We human beings are not made up of men alone, nor of women alone.

Therefore, the first standard of Restoration is not merely to become a son or daughter of God, but, passing through the position of children, to form the tie of husband and wife, become true parents, and establish the tie of a new lineage. This is the purpose of the creation of human beings and the standard of a new departure for human history.

That is why no particular nation is the issue, no particular people are the issue, and no particular clan is the issue. Nor is any particular son or daughter the issue.

What is the greatest issue for humankind is to determine the True Parents, who must without fail exist before humankind, the True Parents through whom God can manifest in substance. How to determine the True Parents is the highest problem and purpose of humankind.

God’s ideal of creation is the completion of the Four Position Foundation. The completion of the Four Position Foundation is realized within God’s wish, centering on the parents.

Therefore, had human beings completed a perfect Four Position Foundation, we would not have the grievous and wretched history we have today. But since we have, in any case, come to have this grievous and wretched historical tie, the problem now is how to cross beyond it.

To Liquidate the History of Misfortune

The destiny of such a history has stretched out, passing through the individual and on through the clan, the people, and the nation, even to the world. Wherever there is a being called a human being, this history of misfortune is connected and keeps developing. So we must not leave it as it is. It must be rooted out. It must be rooted out.

To bring a moving object to a stop, nothing will do but a force stronger than the moving force. To move some object as one intends, there must be a force greater than that object’s force. Therefore, to bring to a stop the running of evil toward its purpose, there must be a force of good stronger than that force of evil, inwardly and outwardly. This is the problem. Once this is equipped, evil automatically comes to a halt. Would God not know such a thing? He knows it all.

From where did the history of Restoration begin?

It began not from us of the present, who were born riding the wretched human history, but already from Adam’s family. From the very time Adam’s family fell, the history of Restoration began. But because the whole Will was not accomplished according to the original wish, after passing through two thousand years of history, God set up Abraham and sought, from a life-staking position, to establish the standard of the principle of formation, growth, and completion.

Even if such a standard was established in Abraham’s family, seen centering on God, it was to the last only a family-level standard and could not become a standard by which the whole could be restored. One must, without fail, bring the whole world to submission. Seen centering on Abraham’s family, though Abraham’s family was set up as the central family, it could not establish a standard by which the whole could be brought to submission. As for bringing to submission too, one cannot bring the whole world to submission all at once.

Centering on a representative of a nation, if a nation, or a representative of the world, if the world, one must bring things to submission. God has worked His providence of history, centering on such problems.

Now, the fact that Abraham made a mistake in offering his sacrifice—that is, the fact that he did not cleave the pigeon—became a condition that God and Satan could both take up simultaneously from opposed positions so that Satan could not be brought to submission. Thereby it became a place that not only God but Satan too could take part in, and so that bisected form came to remain upon this earth.

As a result, there came into being what is called the people of Israel and the Gentile peoples.

Because the standard was not brought to completion from the family, it did not become such a nation. Centering on a nation, the intent is to liquidate once more the condition of sorrow. In liquidating it, what is the first standard? It is to form a family. The national standard begins from the family unit. The purpose for which God toiled for two thousand years was also to form a family.

Yet the organization of a people centered on the standard of victory was not accomplished. It came forth through a history that was ever overwhelming and overwhelmed. And so, passing through two thousand years of history, it reached the time of Jesus, and Jesus had to establish the national standard in his name.

Therefore, Jesus had to form a true, victorious family, and on the foundation of that family, determine the standard of victory that had not been established in Abraham’s family, and set right the outer environment of the satanic world. But because Jesus could not fulfill all such responsibilities, the providence was once again delayed.

So we must, keeping pace with the gradual history until we can digest all of this, go on to establish even the standard of the national form. Thereby we must be victorious at the national standard centered on the people. This is first. Centering on the national standard, the intent is to accomplish this work. Jesus had to form the nation of Israel centered on the people of Israel but did not. Even if Jesus formed that nation, the providence of Restoration does not end at the national unit.

The nation and Jesus must become completely one and bring the world to submission. In other words, only when one advances even to the standard by which, centering on the nation, all the nations of the world can be completely brought to submission, can the history of misfortune be liquidated.

The Formation of the Heavenly Kingdom and the Restoration of Lineage

Jesus too must establish a nation centered on one family. To confront the satanic nation, there must be a representative of God’s nation.

Since there is a representative of the satanic nation, there must be a representative of God’s nation too. To become the representative of God’s nation, one must be equipped with conditions surpassing all the conditions of the satanic nation. Only then can one defeat Satan.

How did the nation formed centering on Satan come about?

How did Satan form his nation? Satan formed his nation by lineage. Therefore, to bring Satan to submission, what must be done? The lineage must be pure, and it must be equipped with the content of being on God’s side. Without that, it will not do. This is the first problem. Unless the restoration of lineage is done, all other restoration is hard as well.

Now, fallen human beings, seen centering on lineage, have Satan as their father. Then how is one to break free of the realm in which Satan is the father? It is by becoming a descendant centered on God, with a standard surpassing Satan’s standard, without being entangled in lineage with Satan. And how to establish such a lineage is the problem.

Seen in the case of Jesus too, had he been born as a descendant of fallen lineage, he could not have become the Messiah. Forming a tie with the corrupted fruit of the satanic world, one cannot attain the purpose that Heaven’s side demands.

Today the people of the world think that the saints and sages in history—for instance, people like Jesus, Shakyamuni, or Confucius—all contributed to human history and so must all be revered as equally saints and sages. But not all can be the same. Placing two people side by side, one, without fail, is ahead or behind. Which one is ahead is the issue. Among them, the one who is ahead is determined to be chosen.

Jesus said,

“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

What meaning is in those words?

It means that apart from Jesus, there is no dividing point of hope. Then how was the standard by which he could say such words determined? Because he was born through parents who had no lineal relationship with the satanic world. Therefore, the authority of a son of God, born as God’s alter self centering on God’s heart, must be, inwardly and outwardly, above the authority of the sons of Satan. Without that, one cannot establish the standard of a new departure.

For one Jesus to be born, four thousand years of history were mobilized. And there was the problem of how, crossing beyond a lineal relationship with Satan, to have Jesus be born. One had to set up the condition of being born upon the ground of victory in that fight.

In Adam’s family, Cain is the elder and Abel the younger. The history of Restoration is a history of switching over.

If one switches, what is it that is switched?

It is not changing one’s clothes. It is not changing the house one lives in. It is not changing nations. In switching, one does not switch outward things. One does not switch the body. One must switch from the very root. Then what is that root? The root is precisely the parents. After switching the parents first, one switches oneself. Without doing so, one cannot switch oneself. One must, without fail, switch the parents.

At no single time in history was there a departure that could stand in for such a whole. Hope lies in liquidating all the sins committed until now and departing with a new mind. We must become people brighter and more brimming with hope than anyone else in the world.

What Is Absolutely Necessary for Us to Be Restored

Today this fallen world is in sorrow. There is no joy. It is a history of sorrow, a history of disappointment, a history of sin. Considered as a whole, it was a continuation of such a course. Here the nation is the issue.

If the nation does not cooperate, the Will is not accomplished. That is why a nation centered on true religion must exist.

Do you see God?

The problem is how the visible self can have a firm conviction that the invisible God is Father. When you think about it, between the father in the satanic world and the Father one believes in and pursues by conviction, which is superior at the standard of feeling? At the standard of principle, which is superior? Religion is the place where one discovers and seeks this out. Here, we members of the Unification Church must become the victors of love.

Then, having expounded all such standards, is there a true man who can know a society and a world—which make it their common law to attend God as the substantial rock—as higher than parents, know it as closer, and form a tie with it more deeply? This is the problem. However much history develops, if there is no such true man, it is a problem. Because such a one cannot weave a relationship like God’s, Restoration is necessary.

Then what kind of place is that place?

That place is an absolutely inviolable place. In that place, the fact of being Father can neither be denied nor made to be denied. It is absolute. And because it can neither be denied nor made to be denied, it is eternal. Even if any power in the world strikes and smashes it a hundred or a thousand times, it does not change. That world, made one by an absolute standard, cannot be removed by anything whatever.

But because humankind until now has not perfectly formed a tie of love with God, a complicated history has unfolded in this society today.

Where must we be?

We must be within God. Because the origin of our existence is God. We must have the awareness that all of us are within God and connected to God. This is what is absolutely necessary for us to be restored.

From this viewpoint, let us think once. Is your father closer, or is God closer?

And can you still say you are a son or daughter of God?

God is a perfect being. Perfection is established only when there is an object partner. Always, in a reciprocal relationship, the object partner of God, the subject, is the world of results. A being of results must be like the subject.

Therefore, the subject and the being of results must coincide. God is the actor who makes cause and result coincide. God is the subject of love. Therefore, when God coincides with the result of love, a world of love is realized.

The Human Being, the Protagonist of Love

Then why, in working His providence of salvation, did God do it centering on the man alone, omitting the woman?

Because it is not yet the time to manifest the position of the woman. Only when the Lord, the bridegroom, comes first does the age of the woman come. Before that, one must not marry. Because the woman cannot marry, the man cannot marry either. That is why celibate life is enjoined.

When you are completely one with God’s love, it becomes absolute. Centering on love, an absolute standard is determined. At such an absolute standard, one must attend to God.

Who is set to give love first?

The son carries love on his back, and the parents carry love in their arms. Between carrying in the arms and carrying on the back, which is first? Carrying babies in the arms is the principle. In the case of a human being, one carries that son on one’s back; God and the parents carry him in their arms. To become one, embracing is easier than carrying on the back.

Should this not be the reverse?

So then, is God the center, or is the human being the center? Under the banner of love, who is first? In love, the human being is first. God, putting the human being in front, carries love in His arms. He goes forth realizing this love through the human being.

If one goes carrying the bundle of God’s love, one can pass anywhere. A person born as the son of the sovereign of some nation has nowhere he cannot pass in that nation. Therefore, seen from the position of a son of God, the human being is the center of the universe. The human being, centering on God’s love, becomes the center of the universe.

Then what would be the standard by which God’s love can be separated?

Would it be God Himself? Would it be the human being? Where would God’s love unfold? (It unfolds in the human being.) The propagation of love too is realized within the human being. Love unfolds in the human being. God did create Adam and Eve, but He unfolded the ideal of creation by passing through the principled ordinances and periodic processes. There, the practical agent is the human being.

If one speaks of a person who has received God’s love, one cannot leave out anyone. Seen centering on the human being, God is the Parent of all humankind.

Even looking at the Bible, it says, “God so loved the world,” not “God so loved God.” In “God so loved the world,” who is the center of the world? The center of the world is the human being. Here the conclusion is established that without the human being, there is no love either.

Yet God does not possess the human being He loves so. So what a pitiful being He is! Rather, if God had not created human beings, it would be one thing, but having created them and yet being unable to call them His children, how grievous it must be for Him! Parents who have not borne a child will have less concern for children. And they will not well know the preciousness of a baby. But rather than that, a parent who bore the child should lose that child; even not bearing would be more fortunate. Yet when a parent who has borne a baby, pouring out love in abundance and raising it with devotion, has that child fall away from the parents’ bosom, how must that parent’s heart be? Now God is in the position of such a parent.

Maidens too, when they marry, come to greet a husband. Before marrying, one may say, “Oh! You mischievous man, what do I need of you?”—but once she marries and is caught fast in love, she clings to the man, saying, “Oh, without you I am but a hen or a pheasant.” Why is that? Because she has come to know what love is. Coming to know, she found it more precious than herself. Because she discovered such a thing, she is so.

Wives wish for their husband’s happiness more than their own. Because that determines the relationship with themselves. It is set that it will not do without the husband. The woman was born to greet a man. And the man too was born to greet a woman.

Therefore, the protagonist of love is not God. It is the human being. Creating and bearing were done by God, but loving is done by the human being. The relationship of love in this relative world of which we speak departed from the human being. That is why the love of God, the cause, must bear fruit in the human being, the result.

Man and Woman Are Absolute Beings to Each Other

Love is absolutely necessary, is it not?

The element absolutely necessary to that love is the human being. It is man and woman. The woman needs the man, and the man needs the woman. How much is needed? More needed than the Republic of Korea, more than the world, even more than God.

Furthermore, without the woman, within a hundred years, humankind will all perish. Therefore, however much a man boasts of having unified all under Heaven, if there is no woman, within a hundred years he will be gone. Therefore, the woman is absolutely necessary.

Do you like your left hand or your right hand?

The answer “both” is an answer given knowing the result. Which hand has the more useful value? Even in playing volleyball, the right hand goes out; has the left hand ever gone out? Even in writing, even in eating rice, the left hand rests idle. So at times you may think the left hand is unnecessary. But however strong one is, one cannot lift a heavy thing with one hand. It seems entirely unnecessary, but there are times when it is used preciously.

Likewise, the man holds the more useful value needed in the world, so the woman seems an unnecessary being, but the woman too is a necessary being. Therefore, both man and woman, the human being, are precious. How precious? Absolute.

Can the world forgive a person who exploits such an absolute being? If there is a person who ruins the absolute, who violates and exploits the absolute, can he be forgiven? Can he be forgiven? Probably he cannot.

Now, tracing back to the topmost ancestors among the ancestors of our humankind, did that father and mother seek to exploit each other? Or did they seek to become one? Did they seek to yield to each other? And did they seek to add more to each other? Or did they seek to snatch and tear away from each other? The woman must seek to add to the man, and the man must seek to add to the woman.

Then how are the man and woman of today’s modern society?

Centering on love, do they seek to add more to each other? Do they seek to snatch away? Do they seek to steal? Do they seek to give? Speak honestly. Almost all the men of the world seek to snatch from the woman and seek only to make the woman a minus. They seek to exploit each other. This is unavoidable because they have fallen.

In the Garden of Eden, did Satan seek to draw something out of the human being or seek to add something more to the human being? He sought to draw it out, did he not? So what, in the end, did he draw out? To draw something out secretly, without the owner’s permission and without notice, is theft. Does a thief go to take something after notifying, “I will come on the morning of such-and-such a day; wait for me”? Does one go to collect after writing out a document, saying, “I am going to collect the money”?

If, without notice, the door is locked, one breaks in. If one goes and eats after notifying, and it is blocked, is not the blocking the abnormal thing? Likewise, because Satan in the Garden of Eden snatched it away secretly, the fallen history has continued.

When they thus seek to add to each other, the man and woman become absolute. Without such a thing, they cannot be absolute.

If God’s love is absolute, the love that such an absolute man and absolute woman meet and absolutely give and receive is also absolute.

Unless they are bound together relatively by love and the two unite, absolute love cannot be realized. Seen centering on the human being, on the horizontal plane, each is an absolute being to the other. The love of man and woman is that precious. Therefore, before calling upon God, whom must one call first? Before calling upon God, for whom do women prepare and adorn themselves? For the man.

Yet in the Garden of Eden, did the woman call upon the man first? She did not. She called upon Satan first. That is why she fell. So, to restore this, whom must the woman call upon first? She must call upon the man first. That is why women must say, “O Lord who art the bridegroom, please come.” Women must clearly know this point.

The Power of Love

Therefore, the Lord, who is the bridegroom, must come. Then who is the Lord? Or can there be two Lords? Before God, there are Jesus and the Holy Spirit, and they carry out formation, growth, and completion. That is why women must say, even before God the Father, “O Lord who art the bridegroom, please come quickly.” So what must women seek? Answer. If you dislike it, never mind…. But it would be a problem if you truly quit. We who must be restored must in that way greet the bridegroom and return before God.

The woman must greet the bridegroom. For this, God bore Adam and Eve. Here there must not be even a trace of Satan’s having been there; it must be that which began only for God and was accomplished only for God. That is why what the woman needs is a man, the bridegroom.

Until now, the history of women was like the position of one fallen into a gutter. That is why, even in the spirit world, they are still repenting and suffering. Can a wife who has lost her husband be at peace? Seen in human history, women were guests and travelers going in and out of the satanic world. They were wayfarers. The history of women until now was wretched. They ought to greet a master, but since there was no master, it could not be otherwise. At such a time, there is much likelihood that anyone at all might be called the master.

Where is the highest peak of hope for women?

On the day this is determined in the course of life, a new morning begins in the world of women. That day is the day the woman greets her master. Then who is the master? The master is precisely the bridegroom. That bridegroom is the second self of the Lord, the alter ego of God. That bridegroom is the one who begins the history of love. In the fallen history until now, who is the one who began the history of love? It is Satan and the woman. Then in human history, who is our enemy? That too is Satan and the woman. That is why the lot of the woman appearing in human history was wretched.

For example, in a nation like Japan, in an emergency, when warriors took responsibility for the nation’s fate and set out with the sound of the marching bugle, if there was a woman in the path they went, they would shoot her. At that time, if the woman was carrying a baby on her back, and the baby was a girl, they would kill both; but if the baby was a boy, they would spare both. Traces of such history remain all over the world. Then why would they spare the child if it was a boy? Because, though the wish of the cosmos was ruined by evil due to the woman, they sought a son within that. There is such a thing as the tie of mother-son cooperation, is there not? If you look into the root, it is so. History was woven that way. It is fascinating.

Until now, the ones who began the history of love were Satan and the woman.

Therefore, women have been removed from history. They have suffered contempt and disdain. That was because it had to be indemnified. Therefore, women must follow the will of men well. However humble their form, women may just do so.

The wife of a president is called the First Lady. If the president represents the father of that nation, the wife represents the mother of that nation. To stand in such a position, must a woman be a university graduate and equipped with several doctoral degrees? And must she be a wrestling champion? Is that so? (No.)

Does it not do if her eyes cannot see, or if her eyes, nose, ears, and mouth are misshapen, or if some part of her body is impaired?

Even if her eyes are bad, her nose crooked, her mouth shaped just so, and she is left-handed or lame, such things are not the issue. The issue lies in occupying the love that the man regards as most important. That determines her value and carries down through ten million years the authority by which one can say, “Ah! She is the mother of the nation. She is absolute.”

If she only occupies the love, then whether in the vertical environment or the horizontal environment, it automatically becomes so.

Even if the wife who has completely occupied the love of her husband, the president, limps and cannot speak, no one can say a word that is displeasing. Because that wife has occupied the president’s love in her heart. Once she has occupied it, she holds it forever and does not let it slip. Even if the man runs away, he cannot break free of it.

One Is Restored Only by Being Reborn Through True Parents

Love has an absolute power that can surround anything and completely occupy anything. It is neither visible nor has a smell, yet like a germ, once it occupies you, anything is caught fast in it. The most virulent germ in the world is precisely this love.

Then how is one to find one’s way into the path of Restoration?

Into the belly of one’s father before he married, and again into the belly of that father’s father, and going up and up in that way, one comes to enter even into the belly of God. Because one could not enter due to the Fall, the path one goes to enter again is the path of Restoration.

That is why it was said, “Be first in that nation. Occupy God. Become the man who is first in loving God! To that end, thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” Thus the Word stands revealed before the path of Restoration.

So must one give one’s whole heart, or not?

When all give their whole heart and their whole will and their whole nature in that way, the providence of Restoration is realized. Today, the world’s humankind is doing such a work. Because the world’s humankind all need God and need His grace, they are all saying, “With all my heart and all my will and all my nature, I too love God.” And so a racing ground has opened. It is not a one-sided race. It is a race in which all run to grab one wall. There the issue is who comes in first. There cannot be two who come in first.

Even looking at the history of the Bible, though many figures were born and lived and passed away before Jesus, was there anyone who could be called famous merely for being born first? Records are broken by those who come out later; those who came out earlier cannot break them. Therefore, the one who comes out later and breaks the record makes the greater name. Then can you break Jesus’ record? (Yes.) Is that so? Then let us take a look. How splendid a thing this is! Who would even think that anyone could stand above Jesus?

We wish to become the foremost prince before God’s love. Therefore, women today must certainly meet Jesus. It means they must marry Jesus. Since the Teacher keeps saying “marry,” perhaps some think inwardly, “We have not even eaten breakfast, and from morning he is trying to marry us off!” Still, it will not feel bad. Though there are maidens here too, inwardly they like it, and closing their eyes and saying “Jesus, Jesus,” if they mispronounce it slightly, they will say “Yes.”

If you look closely, in Christianity, when they say Jesus has come, they say the bridegroom has come, the bridegroom has come. Christianity is a religion of mystery. Even centering on this one saying, it is marvelous. Without God, such a saying could not come out. Therefore, Jesus the bridegroom seeks a woman. He does not want men. Jesus is in the male line by genealogy. Yet he is closer to women. Men, does that feel bad?

A person is made up of a man and a woman.

If we look at the characters for man and woman in Chinese, in “woman,” the character 女 is shaped as two bows gathered. It means that when a woman shoots a bow, she shoots not one but two at once. On the other hand, in “man,” the character 男 has the character for field, 田, on top, and the character 十 inside it means east, west, and the four directions, while the character 口 surrounding the 十 means connecting all under Heaven. That is, the man is the one who upholds the center of the four directions with strength, 力. Chinese characters are such interesting characters.

The man is pressing forward, centering on nothing less than the cosmos. Bear in mind that the one with two arrows is the woman. Then what character is this? (He writes the character 姦 [gan, wickedness] on the board.) Is there such a person here, or not? Three women have gathered. What character is this? (It is the character for wickedness.) Among these, one may be Eve, one Mary, and one perhaps a woman sitting right here. It is possible, is what I mean. It is not that it is so…. People who attend the Catholic church might topple over in shock.

Jesus, Who Came as the True Son of God

In history until now, the man has toiled, but hereafter one cannot center on the man alone and say, “Ah! The man is first.” Nowadays, woman presidents come out, and woman assembly members come out, do they not?

Until now, men alone strutted among themselves, but from now on that will not pass. Hereafter, women will say, “Look to your side; we are here.” Seeing such social phenomena, the Unification Church’s Teacher Moon knows that the limit of restoration through indemnity is gradually filling up in this world.

The History of Restoration Is the History of the Restoration of Cain and Abel

Before sons and daughters are born, through the love of husband and wife, they come out from the womb bearing a document that can neither be detached nor denied; likewise, Jesus too came out bearing the document of being a son of God.

As said before, since, through the Fall, history departed due to Satan, one must attend to God and switch it over. One must switch it over due to God. So the history of Restoration has been carrying out the switching within the four thousand years of history before Jesus was born and has done this game until now.

Then what must be done with Cain and Abel?

Must they be left as they are?

Until now, Cain has been on the right side. So one must send Cain, on the right side, to the left and switch Abel, on the left side, to the right. Who sought to do such a game of switching? Did Satan seek to do it? No. The motive of it is God.

From here the protagonist of the providence is re-created. In switching Cain and Abel, Cain is on Satan’s side and Abel on Heaven’s side. Here Heaven’s side must have dominion over Satan’s side. Why? Because that is the principle of creation.

In the Garden of Eden, Adam was the master and Satan the servant. Abel, on Heaven’s side, stands in for Adam. Therefore, Abel, who stands in the position of master in Adam’s stead, must have dominion over Cain on Satan’s side. He must switch it over. But until now it was the opposite. Cain had dominion over Abel. So this must be switched over in reverse.

The history until now is a history for doing this. To achieve this, the man and woman must not go together. Because the woman fell first, to restore through indemnity, the woman must step back. The man must do it. The one who came to do that is precisely Jesus.

To carry out Restoration, one must occupy everything in reverse. That is why, centering on Adam and Eve, the brothers fought. By thus narrowing the distance, one is restored and comes ever nearer to accomplishing the Will.

But one cannot switch it over by force. One must, without fail, pass through the three stages of formation, growth, and completion. That is why, in Adam’s family, they sought to switch it over, centering on Cain and Abel. But because they were not equipped with a direction by which it could be done, it passed over again to Esau and Jacob.

So Esau and Jacob became brothers and came to fight. They fought as twins. As twins, they fought from within the womb. Because there were two nations in the womb. It is hard for the lesser to have dominion over the greater, is it not? The fight broke out from within the womb. So though they fought from within the womb, in being born, Esau was born first, so Esau became Cain’s side, that is, Satan’s side, and Jacob became Heaven’s side.

This fight between Heaven’s side and Satan is the brothers’ fight extended even into a fight within the womb. So the fight begun in the womb, to win over each other, continues even after birth. And in the end, Jacob established the condition of snatching the whole birthright from Esau with red-bean porridge. Was this well done or ill done? In God’s history, did Jacob, who cunningly deceived his elder brother and snatched the birthright, do well or ill?

It was not a snatching. Esau was caught in the condition, and Jacob merely did as promised. Esau the elder was caught fast in the condition, was he not? There, Jacob’s doing as promised was carrying out a covenant of Heaven and earth. He did it by principle. It was Esau who came to be caught in the condition.

So Esau, who sold his birthright for red-bean porridge and bread in his hunger, sought to kill Jacob, just as Cain did to Abel. But Jacob, passing through a twenty-one-year course, fulfilled his mission. In the end, in the fight of the twin brothers, Jacob won. There, for the first time, Cain and Abel came to be switched over externally.

Restoration in the Womb and the Merit of Tamar

But externally they were switched over, while internally they were not switched over. The people who stood in the realm thus switched over externally are the chosen people of Israel, and that nation is the nation of Israel. Satan had switched over both inside and out. But since Jacob switched over only externally, the internal standard remained. Because the more important internal standard was not switched over, it could not become a complete Israel that could block Satan completely, inside and out, and depart. Though it is said that in Jacob’s time an external Israel was formed, that too was set up by the nation of Egypt.

Entering into the nation of Egypt too—from what time does it actually begin? You know Judah, the fourth son of Jacob?

Judah’s son took a wife but came to die. In those days, if a husband died without a son, his younger brother was to continue the elder’s line. You may ask where such a law exists, but in the old days, at that time, there was such a law. Thus, even seen centering on the providential content of Israel’s history, one cannot deny that God took charge of the providence of Restoration.

So the younger brother had to continue the elder’s line, but that younger brother also died. And Tamar, looking closely, saw that the first son and the second son had died, and the third son was too young to hold any promise.

So Tamar’s thought reached the point of asking whether the blessed lineage of Israel, that is, the line of Jacob, should be cut off. And so, with the thought of continuing God’s lineage rather than any norm or ethic of the evil world, she herself put on the garb of a prostitute, stood by the road her father-in-law would take, seduced her father-in-law, formed a relationship, and came to conceive. And what she bore was Perez and Zerah. Thus these, like the children of a prostitute, became the ancestors in the age of the providence of Restoration.

Why did God’s providence begin with the tribe of Judah?

Because of Tamar’s merit. There, a condition by which the Four Position Foundation could be restored was established. And so Jesus too came as a descendant of the tribe of Judah.

Tamar’s twins Perez and Zerah too fought in the womb. Zerah’s hand came out first for a moment, but the younger, Perez, pushed Zerah aside and came out first. The -ism that, like Zerah’s hand, comes out for a moment and then withdraws is communism. The coming Lord must push communism aside and conquer the world. That is why we today fight centering on the Unification thought to topple communism. Do you understand? (Yes.) This is not something the Teacher has tacked on. It is a statement of fact. Even if the ladies in the back there and the old men say they cannot believe it, this is an undeniable fact.

Since the origin was wrong from within the mother’s womb—that is, since the root was wrongly planted—this must be liquidated. Because Heaven’s side, which should have been born as the elder and had dominion over the whole, was born as the younger and came to a wretched fate, this must be fundamentally switched over. To switch it, what must be done? One must fight from within the womb and switch it.

Even if, after Tamar, at some time a son of God is born centering on some providential element, the Satan who has been brought to submission from within the womb cannot hold a condition for accusation. Do you understand? From within the womb, Satan cannot hold a condition for accusation. On the day Satan holds a condition for accusation, it breaks down.

Mary’s Admirable Faith

You have many conditions for accusation attached to you. Therefore, if you are treated as human beings, you are not restored. You can be restored only by being treated as lower than Satan. That is why you are driven to the point of death. That is why you are made to suffer. That is why you are driven off the cliff. Only when you are resolved to die can you be restored.

Even a woman must, with a mind stronger than any woman in history, crawl up the cliff path. Not once but a thousand times she must be able to crawl up. Even if, while crawling up, she topples and falls to her death, she must have the courage to die saying, “Ah! I die for the sake of someone.” That is why, in the Unification Church, when we send people to the provinces to witness, we drive them out in a naked state, without even food or anything. Is this well done or ill done? It is well done. It must be so.

So the game of Tamar restoring the clan unfolded. And because Perez was born upon this earth bearing the banner of victory, the lineage was restored, and thereby he became the ancestor of the victorious people of Israel. But because the national realm of the people of Israel, to which the tribe of Judah belonged, was not of a scale to represent a worldwide nation, the Lord could not come at that time. So after two thousand years had passed and a firm foundation for the formation of a nation was equipped, Jesus descended.

Then what kind of person was Mary?

Mary had no tradition and no qualification whatsoever. Yet among the women of the tribe of Judah, the women of the people of Israel, she was the woman who loved God the most.

When the angel Gabriel appeared and told her she would conceive, Mary answered,

“How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?” (Luke 1:34).

But when the angel said again, “Because God is with you, nothing is impossible,” Mary said, “Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word.” This is a revolution. For a woman of that time, it was a new revolution.

In loving God, in a position where ten out of ten and a hundred out of a hundred could all oppose it, Mary alone stepped forth there bearing the flag of revolution.

On this earth, where centering on Satan, the descendants of evil had multiplied, she, following God’s command to forsake all the human ethics and morality of evil, denied her whole self as a woman and became the one woman who stepped forth bearing the flag of revolution for the sake of God. That is why God, since the beginning of history, came to treat Mary as the earthly woman who stood in the position closest to God.

Then did Jesus have a father, or not? (He had one.) Who is Jesus’ father? Did Jesus have a father, or not?

If he had a father and yet could not find that father, would Jesus be able to hold up his face in the spirit world, or not?

If until now no one knows who that father is, must not those who believe in Christianity—that is, those who believe in Jesus—find Jesus’ father for him? If Jesus’ father too went to the spirit world and so is in the spirit world, Jesus would be grateful to that father.

Then, seen by the world, did Jesus’ parents bear Jesus by doing what is called good or by doing what is called bad? Think about it. Was Jesus born after a wedding ceremony? And was Jesus’ father a bachelor or a man who had a wife? Was he a man with a family or a single man? Such things are all understood if you study the Principle. If you ask me, I can only answer that I do not quite know.

Seen by the Principle, Jesus’ father must not have been a bachelor. Because without restoring the line of Tamar, it will not do. Do you understand what I mean?

How did Tamar bear Perez?

She entered the bosom of her father-in-law, did she not? Was that well done or ill done? Where in the world is there such a law? Could you enter your father-in-law’s bosom? Saying such things, people will truly call me the chief of heretics. But such words must be taken to heart. It is what must be regarded as the most important thing in the history of love in the satanic world. That is why it is splendid. Mary too, in that respect, can be called a sister of Tamar.

If I speak in detail, Jesus’ father comes out officially. But the Teacher will not directly teach who Jesus’ father is. So it is under study. If you believe well in the Unification Church and cross over just a few more ridges, I will teach it all.

Attending church without knowing that one cannot attend Jesus even in heaven. Going to the spirit world without knowing history, one cannot attend Jesus. One does not have the tie by which one can attend him. Therefore, one must know history well. How about it? Does the Unification Church’s Teacher Moon seem likely to know such things, or not? Looking at his face, does he seem to know, or not? If you only keep your wits about you, you can know. You know too, do you not?

Jesus, Born as a Prince on Heaven’s Side

In Christianity, they say Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit. You know it that way too, do you not? Then what differs from what the Teacher knows? What Christianity knows is that Jesus had no father; what the Teacher knows is that Jesus had a father on earth. Who that father is can be known at once if you study the Principle. You could find it out within three hours. But do not study only that.

Then how was Mary?

Among countless women, she raised the base of a revolution of love and said she would become the offering for the sake of Heaven’s Will above anything in the world. With the conviction that she would step forth boldly even if she came to the wretched fate of being stoned to death in the street, she stepped forth, blocking history. With the conviction that she would be for the sake of Heaven even if a position beyond forgiveness came, she stepped forth, blocking history. In that sense, Mary is great.

Would God have told Mary for no reason that she would bear a son of Heaven who could rule Israel and to name him Jesus? That is not the content of idly eating cold rice and making warm advances. Well, having spoken this much, you will have understood a good deal.

Upon such a foundation, Jesus came to be born. Jesus was thus born upon a foundation that had historically liquidated the sin of lineage. Who did that? The married aunt Tamar did it. Then, through that Tamar, was the path of Restoration brought to completion, or not? It was not. So it is brought to completion when it reaches the Virgin Mary. Among them, Tamar is the symbol of fallen Eve, and Mary the symbol of restored Eve. Tamar is the symbol of the mother of fallen humankind, and Mary the symbol of the original mother who must be restored. Then it fits exactly, inside and out, across history. Do you understand what I mean?

The people of Israel were not lowborn. They were the chosen people. Therefore, through Mary, the one who appeared for the first time as the representative of the foremost lowborn is Jesus. After four thousand years, for the first time, centering on God’s side and passing through the course of struggle, Jesus was born in a pure position where Satan could not accuse, inside or out.

Since an angel was the motive of the Fall, in reverse, the angel Gabriel on Heaven’s side became the motive, and Jesus was born through Mary, who cooperated in establishing the heavenly order of relationship rather than Eve, who betrayed the heavenly order of relationship. Jesus is the man born, after the Fall, through a woman on Heaven’s side centered on God among the women upon this earth. Mother-son cooperation is absolutely necessary. Such a son is the only one in history—Jesus.

Therefore, Jesus, on the side of lineage, has no ground whatever by which Satan can accuse. It was so from within the womb. Because Mary continued the line by lineage and, for the first time, representing the cosmic heart, determined a perfect foundation lacking nothing before the heavenly order of relationship and bore Jesus—for the first time a new prince appeared in Heaven and earth. This is not something the Teacher has tacked on and said. It is all in the Bible. Is that so, or not? (Yes, that is so.) It is certain, is it not? That is why the words of the Bible are truth unchanging through all ages. Looking at the Bible, one cannot say there is no God.

Seen broadly, the people of the world are just these two, man and woman. Now, 3.6 billion human beings live in the world, but eventually there are only men and women. Because history began with two people.

How many people were in the Garden of Eden?

Two, were there not? Therefore, to restore that through indemnity, there must be two people. Here, because the woman inherited Satan’s lineage and fell, a woman on Heaven’s side must newly appear for one to break free of the fallen realm. Then has that woman appeared, or not? It will not do if she does not appear, but she has not yet appeared.

Man Must Restore Woman

Seen by God’s principle of creation, God created Adam first and then created Eve. But now, how is it? It has become as though Eve bore Adam. It has become upside down. Can Eve bear Adam? God must bear him.

So God did bear him, but the body received the element of the Fall from Eve, so it has become as though he was created by Eve. Then by whom was Eve created? (By God.) Eve too was created by God. But it is not done according to the ordinance of the Principle. It has become upside down.

By the ordinance of creation, God created Adam and then created Eve after the pattern of Adam, did He not? So Adam must bear Eve. But how has it become? It has become reversed.

In the Bible it says Eve was made by taking Adam’s rib, but it does not really mean a rib was taken out; it means she was made after the pattern of the man. If Eve were really made by taking out a rib, the man would have to have one rib fewer than the woman—but not only is he not short one, the man’s ribs are thicker and larger.

Originally the woman came out due to the man, but now it has become as though the man comes out due to the woman. Is this right, or is it reversed? It is reversed. So it must be set right.

For that, besides the fallen mother Eve, there must be an unfallen daughter Eve. Jacob’s wives Leah and Rachel symbolize precisely these. In Numbers chapter 12, there is a record that when Moses set aside Zipporah and took a Cushite woman, Miriam and Aaron slandered him and were struck with leprosy. That leprosy-struck means that one must not oppose. It was unavoidable to accomplish the Will and set right the principle of the heavenly law.

Then are you saying the woman was created before Adam?

That is what I am now talking about. Because we are now in the process of Restoration, such a problem arises. Adam must make the woman. So one must indemnify the vertical history of six thousand years of seeking Eve. Then does the center of this woman come out at once? It does not. It cannot come out without going through the story of six thousand years of history. One must, without fail, indemnify in full all that failed over six thousand years and set up the condition of having won. That is an inner fight until Eve appears again. Unless one comes forth bearing the banner of victory within the lifetime of the coming Jesus, Restoration cannot be done. The Principle is so set.

There is no objection to this, is there?

Therefore, Jesus had to seek a woman. In seeking a woman, one must not seek a woman with no relation to Mary. He had to seek a woman whom Mary had raised like a daughter, a woman of whom it could be said that she loved Jesus with all she had. He had to seek one woman upon whom the merit of Mary’s toil could be poured and to whom Joseph too, not only Mary, devoting all sincerity, could pass down everything. Only then is Restoration done.

So in seeking that woman for him, here again arises the problem of from what position she must be found. You may think it enough to bring the daughter of a rich house, but that will not do. It must fit the principle of the course of the history of Restoration. As I said a moment ago, unless one indemnifies the horizontal problem vertically and the vertical problem horizontally, Restoration is not done.

In Jesus’ time, one had to grip the inner heart of the four thousand years of history, unfold it horizontally, and strike Satan down. Without that, one cannot say Adam was victorious in seeking Eve, centering on love. One must receive submission from a human being such that, before Adam, Satan says, “I have submitted.” Then, unless Satan, in place of the Eve found before Jesus, sends Eve back saying, “Live ten thousand years…. Become the master of the new nation and make a new departure in the Kingdom of Heaven.” The Heavenly Kingdom cannot depart.

To Restore Woman from Satan

But to do so is exceedingly complicated. How complicated must the story woven through six thousand years of history be? I will not speak here of its content. That is not content you should be concerned with. Because it is a problem concerning the parents. +It is a matter that unfolded before you were born, a problem left only because human beings fell; it is not a problem that ought to have remained in history. Had there been no Fall in history, what problem would there be? You do not know that. Only the Teacher knows.

Jesus said, “I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?” (Luke 12:49).

What does that saying mean? To seek that woman, one cannot do it just as things are. One must seek her from the ground that Satan loves most. Unless one prepares an environmental ground where Satan can uphold and naturally submit, one cannot find her. Then Restoration is not done.

So Jesus, seeking to do this work for over thirty years, only toiled and died. And leaving the noun “I am the bridegroom,” he prepared the basis from which one could advance from the national standard of Restoration to the worldwide standard of Restoration.

God’s providence neither retreats nor fails to be accomplished. It will, without fail, be accomplished. Because there is such a providence of God, Christianity, centering on Jesus, achieved worldwide development and has come to the realm where the world today can enter its bosom.

If one divides the world into Heaven’s side and Satan’s side, Heaven’s side is dominant. It is so in every respect. Therefore, in this world, one must once more unfold the work of seeking Eve and finish the providence of Restoration. Here the issue is Mary.

For the coming Lord, because there is Mary’s victorious foundation, it is enough to set up a woman who can stand in for that condition. But she must not be a woman like Mary. That woman must not be older than the coming Lord.

If possible, she must be young. Because the work of re-creation must be done from the state just before Adam and Eve fell. The conclusion comes out that no one but a person under the age of twenty can become the True Mother. Over twenty will not do. In the providence of Restoration, there are such complicated circumstances.

Then what kind of person is the Unification Church’s Teacher Moon?

You will know better than I. Talking in this way, there would be no end. It is already nine o’clock…. Shall I stop now? (No. Please speak more.) Have you writhed as earnestly as the Teacher to know such tremendous content? (Yes.) Hearing your answer, it feels bad. If it were really so, would you do the Teacher’s job? The more you come to know the Principle, the nearer you come to God’s purpose. The more you know, the nearer you come to God.

Why do I give you such detailed talk?

Because the heads of the Seonghwa University students are all mottled and different. That is why I speak in detail. In fact, it is because I believe in you. So I dissect and explain in detail the history up to now. Also, I am trying to test whether the reward will appear as much as I believe. When I say I am testing, it feels bad, does it not? (No. It is good.) Then do you have the confidence not to be caught even if the Teacher tests you? (Yes.) Really? (Yes.) Let us see once whether you are caught or not.

When Adam and Eve fell, did they fall instantly?

Or did they fall over several months? They fell instantly. Therefore, restoration too must be done instantly. To that end, if the Teacher told you right now to marry, you would have to marry. If one is restored by marrying, one would have to marry even right now.

If I raise my hand and bless you, you must become husband and wife. Can you do that? (Yes.) Let us ask the women. Is it all right? (Yes.) Really? Shall we try it once? (Yes.) Only the Teacher can do that. You cannot, however you try. If it were done, you would be registered on high by the heavenly common law.

If, in this general assembly of Seonghwa University students, it were only to be so, you would be blessed as a commemorative case of departing toward Heaven. Then I might come to envy you.

The Reason Jesus Came to Die

Why did Jesus die? He died because he could not find the Father. After all, he could not attend the Father. Had he attended to the Father and attended to the Mother, would Jesus have died? Where are parents who would just leave a child to die when the child is dying? Are there? (There are none.)

If the parents had known such a fact, would they have taught it or not? (They would have taught it.) To become a fence for the child, and, if it is a place where one is reviled and dies in the child’s stead, to go to that place and seek to die before the child—that is the parents’ heart. Jesus came to die. He had no such father and mother because he could not find such a father and mother.

If Christians hear such words, they will topple over. For them, Jesus is God, so if it is said that Jesus was born as a created being and died that way, they will ask whether God died.

What is a created being?

If God dwells within a person, the person is God’s house. Then is a created being evil? Christians who believe that way must all perish. When the true comes, the false perishes. If one has gone the wrong path and does not know how to turn back, one goes to hell. Is that not so? If night does not know how to become day, it falls forever and ever into the bottomless pit.

Now the fate of Christianity cannot take a single step forward without holding onto the Unification Church. Even the people in Korea who strut about as famous are all within the Teacher’s ten fingers. Once caught here, it is over. You too, once caught, cannot climb back up. So you need the Teacher even if you die. Do you really need the Teacher? (Yes.) Do you really need him? (Yes.) You talk well. Though the content is not so…. You have two antennas, do you not? Is it one? (Yes.) There cannot be two highest antennas. There can be countless low antennas, but the highest antenna is only one in the world. We are the highest antenna in the world. Even if you are below, if the Teacher is at the top, you too are the highest antenna. There is only one highest antenna.

Jesus died because he could not find, could not attend, the Father he had. Furthermore, he died because his father could not do the part of a father, and his mother could not do the part of a mother. What does this mean? Has anyone heard such words? (Yes.) The Teacher says these words for the first time today; when did you hear them? Have you heard that Jesus died because Jesus’ father failed his responsibility? Is Joseph Jesus’ father? No. He was in a position like a servant.

The Providence of Restoration Through Indemnity Centered on Jesus

Then let us analyze Mary’s family, that is, Joseph’s family, by the principle of Restoration. The Unification Church’s Principle is not something Teacher Moon fitted together. Seen centering on the Fall within the Unification Principle, in the Garden of Eden there were Adam and Eve, and there was the archangel. Therefore, in Restoration too, if even one of these is missing, it will not do. Seen centering on Joseph’s family, was Joseph Mary’s husband? (No.) Could Joseph be Mary’s husband? (He could not.)

Whose mother is Mary?

Jesus’ mother. And Jesus is in Adam’s stead. Then what is Joseph? He is a person who ought to have no relation to either Jesus or Mary. He is in the archangel’s stead. He set up the restored form of the archangel in substance. Then what is Mary? She is in Eve’s stead.

God lost Eve first in the Garden of Eden. So He must find Eve first, must He not? God works the providence of finding what was lost. Then in the age of history, who snatched the woman away? Satan snatched her away. Therefore, God must find the woman again. So Heaven’s side finds Mary.

The being called Joseph is in the archangel’s stead. And Mary is Jesus’ mother. Then did Jesus have a father? (He did not.) Jesus too had to have a father, but Jesus did not know who his father was. Joseph too did not know who Jesus’ father was. Only Mary knew who Jesus’ father was. Therefore, Mary had to teach Jesus who his father was. But she did not teach him. Mary failed that responsibility.

For Jesus to appear as the second Adam, since Satan lured the first Adam, one must, without fail, ward off Satan. One must ward off Satan, centering on love.

Because Satan invaded, centering on love, and a son of Satan’s side came out, only by defending against Satan centering on love does a son of God’s side come out. Only then is Restoration done. Do you understand what I mean? Here Mary and Jesus must cooperate.

So Mary and Joseph had to become husband and wife in form. To restore, one must set up such a condition of indemnity. One must pass through such a process in order. Because Satan has no substance, one makes Satan’s substance. So, having done so in form, with whom did she in fact marry? She married Jesus’ father. In the Garden of Eden, Eve, having been betrothed to Adam, in fact formed a relationship with the archangel, did she not? That is what is being restored.

So must Jesus have a father, or not?

The conclusion comes out by the Principle that he must have one. Then what did this father and mother have to do? Because in the Garden of Eden Adam and Eve were invaded by Satan and inherited the enemy’s lineage, Jesus’ father and mother had to become a fence against Satan at the national and worldwide standard and protect Jesus. They absolutely must not let Jesus become like Adam, who was invaded by Satan. They had to become completely one that way and bring Satan completely to submission.

Then did Jesus have a younger sibling?

Should Jesus have had a younger sibling, or not? It is all right to have had one. A younger sibling born between Mary and Jesus’ father is all right. But there were younger siblings born between Joseph and Mary, were there not?

That doesn't seem right. Jesus was to become one with Mary through his father, and Joseph was to become a side-branch and live as a servant, but that was not done. Mary did not live that way but lived close to Joseph. That doesn't seem right. Mary had to detach the side branch, Joseph. Because Satan deceived and caused the Fall, restoration through indemnity too must be done by deceiving. So, deceiving slightly by living as husband and wife with Joseph in form, inwardly Jesus, his father, and Mary had to conspire and bring Satan to submission. Only then is Joseph caught. The Principle fits exactly, does it not? Is it so, or not? (It is so.)

When it is so, one becomes a Four Position Foundation completely centered on God. Therefore, Jesus departs from the position of Adam in Eden before the Fall, with no relation whatever to Satan. Is that not so? (Yes.)

And so he had to find the virgin Eve. Had he only found the virgin Eve, the Will would have been accomplished. And had Jesus’ family been formed, whatever became of the satanic world, Jesus’ clan would have kept increasing.

To Be Blessed, One Must Not Love as One Pleases

The blessed families in the Unification Church bear sons and daughters well, do they not?

They keep multiplying. Will you be blessed, or not? Will you marry within the Unification Church, or marry as you please? Does it feel bad to have a group wedding? (No.) Will you marry as the Unification Church Teacher decides? Answer. Will you go as you please, or go as the Teacher decides? (We will go as the Teacher decides.)

To do so, you must not love as you please. You must not even cast a glance of love carelessly. You must clearly know this.

The reason the university district is now perishing is that people are falling as Adam and Eve fell in their teens, that is, in adolescence. Now is the harvest season of that time, that is, like autumn. That is why the world is falling. The Teacher seeks to restore all of that. He seeks to set it right by the ordinance of the heavenly law. Do you understand? (Yes.)

Therefore, men must not carelessly grasp the wrists of young women. On the day one grasps the wrist of a young woman, he is already not a bachelor. Do you understand? (Yes.) This is not my word. It is the word of the Principle. It is the word of the Principle of Restoration.

So, you men, will you grasp the hands of young women, or not? (We will not.) All the men of this world are archangels. Therefore, one cannot take a bride as one pleases. One does not qualify to marry as one pleases. Women, in the position of the bride before the coming Lord, are on the Lord’s side. They belong not to the men of the world but to the coming Lord.

Because the woman fell through two processes, in Restoration too she must pass through two processes. Therefore, women must like and adore the Teacher. Even if they dislike it, they must. Even if they dislike it, they must like the Teacher.

The women of the Unification Church must absolutely obey whatever the Teacher says. Only then can one be called a person who likes the Teacher. Only then, if the Teacher would marry you off, can he do so, and if he would send you to witness, can he do so. The Teacher can marry you off to Black people, or not, and can send you to an American, or not.

Is this good or bad?

One who says it is bad is a person with no relation to me. Only those who say it is good are people with a relation to me. That is why women, down to the grandmothers, come to the Teacher’s side. Since maidens thus come to the Teacher’s side, would the men of the world feel good? That is why the men of the world hound the Unification Church’s Teacher Moon. Women never do such a thing.

One Must Become an Archangel on Heaven’s Side

Seen by the Principle, the men of the world, because they are descendants of the archangel, do not qualify to marry. That is why celibate life is enjoined. The original parents have not yet been able to marry, and shall people who strut about and have fallen into the gutter love as they please? Such love is illicit. That is why higher religions emphasize celibate life. Fascinating, is it not? (Yes.)

Then how must the men now do?

They must serve as servants unto death. Without passing through the process of a servant, it will not do. They must be treated as a servant of servants. Men are in the position of an adulterer before God. They are of the enemy’s stock of God. That is why they must do the work of a servant of servants.

If the Teacher says, “Die,” one must be able to answer, “Yes, sir!” and die. Without that, one cannot be restored. Men must do the hardest work in the world. Until now they violated masterless women as they pleased, but when the Lord comes hereafter, they cannot. Then Restoration is not done. Is this the Teacher’s word or the word of the Principle? Speak clearly. You who claim to be intellectuals—is this the Teacher’s word to intimidate, or the word of the Principle? (It is the word of the Principle.) If so, you must do it by the Principle. So you must drive the men.

The Teacher too has suffered contempt until now. Having fought for over fifty years, he is still being shot at with arrows. You must not just stand by seeing this.

You must not become archangels on Satan’s side. You must become archangels on Heaven’s side and strike down these Satanic forces. That is why you are put in front. Does the Teacher appear in the public seat of the satanic world? Have you seen him appear?

If possible, he does not appear but seeks to make you appear in his stead. Because Satan betrayed Heaven and corrupted the ordinance of Heaven and earth, you must stand in the position of the archangel who supports Heaven and establish the way of a loyal subject before Heaven. Only then will a new path of Restoration first open from there. That is why you are put in front.

Men, Stand in the Position of a Servant of Servants

Because such an age comes, words like “Miss Korea,” “Miss America,” and “Miss Universe” come out in the world. The man must bear fruit not on earth but in Heaven. Because earth symbolizes the woman, what is discussed on earth is the woman. That is why they say Miss Korea, Miss Universe, Miss this, and Miss that. The man will be discussed in Heaven. As far as I know, because such a world is coming, I am excited.

Who is the worldwide Mister Champion? It is the coming Lord. Because he is the worldwide Mister Champion, he says he will become the Lord of the world.

Now is the time when the hen must crow. It is time to work on the providence centering on the skirts of women. The vanguard of the Unification Church’s pioneering was not men. It was women. Then men came and are occupying the seats. Nowadays the district leaders come to the Teacher and say this and that, but the men must revere me even more than the women. Otherwise, how will they escape the genealogy of servants? If you shake it out, only a little dust will fly.

Hearing such words, some may think, “Those who leapt this way and that and flapped about in the university district have utterly perished by coming here to the Unification Church.” But because he who seeks to die lives and he who seeks to live dies, they do not perish. It is to make you new people. Therefore, it is enjoined to become a servant of servants.

So, in setting people to serve as servants, whom has the Teacher mobilized until now?

He mobilized high school students. That is because they are at the growth level. Do you understand? The Unification Church must take charge of the history of Restoration, and because the position of high school students was the growth stage that must be the center of the history of Restoration, it was so. That is why they were asked not to go to university. School is not the issue. One must accomplish the heavenly mandate. One must transcend fate, have dominion over fate, and follow the heavenly mandate. Representing the heavenly mandate, one must pioneer the future and prepare a ground of victory.

To do that work, the teens were needed. Because Adam and Eve fell at that age, Restoration too must be done by people around the age of twenty. For you, not having taken part in that work at that time, at that age, will remain a han for ten thousand years. Because those who took part then prepared a ground in that environment and crossed over one ridge, from now on you must be put in front.

That I, who would even build a university to educate you, told you not to go to university was because the time had not come. Because to desire the thing of a time in a time that is not its time is the same as the motive of the Fall, you must know that the university students could not but be treated until now as stepchildren. Do you understand what I mean? (Yes.)

Therefore, you must not complain to the Teacher. The Teacher could not but do so by the principle and ordinance. Now, because the Teacher has fulfilled the responsibility he had to fulfill and that time has passed, you can attend university. You are in Cain’s position. Because when Cain fulfills his responsibility toward Abel, the Republic of Korea will be restored, I say these words to you at this point of crossing into the 1970s, to lay the foundation of that responsibility.

You must know that this is the reason I am raising my concern for the university students and strengthening the activity centered on the Principle Research Association (원리연구회) after October. Do you understand? (Yes.)

The Path the Seonghwa University Students Must Go

Then with what must you set out?

Taking off the mask of a servant of servants, taking off that historical mask of a servant that betrayed Heaven, you must stand in the position of a loyal subject before Heaven. To that end, you must stand in the position of serving from the very bottom of the labor sites or of the slums—the most alienated class in this nation.

Who made the bottom of the slums?

Satan made it. Because Satan oppressed and violated human beings to make it, you who are in the position of God’s servants, you men in the position of the archangel, must go in there, show them mercy, and open a path of life for them. You must rescue them from there. And you must separate them from the enemy. Without that, Restoration is not done.

Therefore, the Unification Church must stand at the very bottom of the people.

Centering on the Teacher, from headquarters to the very end, the very bottom, one must serve even as a farmhand in the countryside. If one goes to the lowest place of all and connects the heart for the sake of Heaven, victory, without fail, unfolds. By the Principle, it is set to be victorious.

If one gives and receives, multiplication unfolds. That is why we have come from the township through the county to Seoul, breaking through the environment of a nation that opposed us until now. Until this stage is crossed, your participation, being in the university district, is unavoidable. That is why, at this point today, I put you in front. That is a good thing. Therefore, you must fundamentally become an example in your schools.

And now I must send the district leaders and regional leaders who have toiled until now to university to graduate. Because I made them suffer without sending them to school, the Teacher must take responsibility for them. By whatever means, in the shortest possible time, I intend to have the district and regional leaders of high school backgrounds who have toiled until now receive university diplomas.

Therefore, you must awaken and go to some university and graduate. And you must stand in the position of encouraging those who have toiled, saying, “Since we have graduated from university, let us now take turns with the seniors who have toiled and become the vanguard of this organization.”

Those who have toiled until now are in Abel’s position, and you who have attended school are in Cain’s position. So you must stand in Abel’s position and have the mind to attend to the seniors and put them through school, and you must send them to university. And you must know that unless you step forth saying you will take charge of the remaining cross, you have no way to live. It is to set up such a condition and such a standard this year that the Teacher is now spending much time giving you this talk. Do you understand? (Yes.)

Therefore, for the Seonghwa University students now, the path to go after graduating from school is firmly set. So do not think other thoughts. You must not treat your eyes, your nose, your hands—your whole body and mind—carelessly. For your whole life, you must stand at the vanguard of saving this nation and step forth bearing the torch to this world. From here a new history unfolds.

That is why the university is the issue.

If you only enter a good university, can you do as you please with the Republic of Korea? Is history so set? Because the Unification Church’s Principle is this splendid, an age is coming before us in which, crossing back and forth over such boundary lines, one can shed light on left and right, inside and out.

To Take Off the Mask of a Servant

The han of a man is that he was born into the lot of a servant of servants. So, though it is unjust, one must escape that lot of a servant and step forth bearing the flag of a son. That one glorious day when one can do so is coming before us. If one can become such a son, centering on the boundary line of seven years, one lacks nothing in qualifying to be a great prince of the historical revolution.

When one is equipped with the privileged authority by which what God worked over seven thousand years can be brought to completion in seven years, one lacks nothing in becoming a son or daughter of God. You must all become such people.

To sum up what I have said until now, are you servants or not? Even if it feels bad, before truth, before fact, a person must be honest. You are certainly servants, are you not? (Yes.) One who thinks this is wrong, raise your hand and speak. You strut about attending university; if anyone thinks this is wrong, speak. Since no one speaks, it seems you are certainly servants.

Then do you want to live as servants for ten thousand years?

Or do you mean you want to marry from the position of a servant’s child, with the privilege of being guaranteed the infinite value of a human being and the original cosmic position turned aside? It is not so. God is love. Because He is love, He enjoins human beings on this earth to live celibate lives and makes them suffer, having them do the work of going round and round to match it. Seen in history, it goes round officially that way.

Then do you want to be made to suffer, or not? (We want to.) But does it do to say, “I will suffer alone, I will witness alone”? It does not. Anyone can do that. If one does it alone, it means one does it alone while just dragging along Satan’s tail.

One must, without fail, do it by God’s command. Because Satan caused the Fall, if one goes without resolving that, it is of no use. One must go by the ordinance-condition of God’s justice, the ordinance-condition officially acknowledged in the satanic world. The privileged prince who can give such a command is precisely the Lord.

If the envoy of some nation seems like a cripple, does it not do to treat him with the treatment of an envoy?

However much he seems like a cripple, an envoy is an envoy. If one does not give such an envoy the treatment of an envoy because he seems like a cripple, the nation is caught. Is that not so? All the more, when a prince of God, a son or daughter of God, a person of Heaven, has come by God’s command to go into the satanic world, does it not do to give him the treatment of a person of Heaven because he seems like a cripple? Then one is caught by the heavenly common law. One’s neck is caught. Therefore, one must suffer with Heaven’s acknowledgment; one must not strut about saying one does it alone. Do you understand? (Yes.)

Some say, “The path the Unification Church goes is difficult to follow, so if I go out into the world, earn some money, and bring the money and offer it, surely I will be received”—but that will not do. Unless one takes off the mask of a servant, it is of no use.

Deny Yourself Completely

Then, to take off the mask of a servant, how must these servants be restored through indemnity?

Talking in this way, there is no end. Because human beings fell at the completion level of the growth stage, to be restored, one must go up to the completion level of the growth stage.

The Fall does not belong within the realm of the Principle. The fallen place is the position of a servant of servants. Therefore, from the position of a servant receiving a privilege, one must rise to the position of an adopted son. Can a servant’s child become an adopted son by just staying still? To become an adopted son, one must show full filial piety to the stepfather and then, for the first time, receive the inheritance. The one who comes in the position of this stepfather is the Lord. Therefore, one must, without fail, believe in Jesus. That is why it is said to believe in Jesus.

Even in the Bible, there is the saying,

“Until the gospel is preached to all the world, I will not come.”

Without introducing the stepfather completely to the world, the True Father cannot come. So must one believe in Jesus, or not? (One must believe.) Those who have become servants must believe in Jesus.

Originally, servants are not granted the value of existence. They are the same as a dead being.

Jesus too said, “Let the dead bury their dead,” did he not?

Such a position is a position with no relation to God. A person in such a position has no relation whatever to the tie of God’s love, the tie of being God’s child. It is the same as an enemy. That is why Jesus called upon Abba Father in the name of an adopted son. It is to build a bridge. Calling upon Abba Father is not absolutely a good thing. Calling upon Abba Father is because God is a foster father. When one calls upon a direct father, one does not call that way. The Bible teaches rightly. That is why one must believe in Jesus.

The Unification Church differs from Christianity. It seems like Christianity, and also seems not to be. It is a mix. Is it not? Because one must pass through the process of a foster father and a True Father, one must inherit the history of Christianity, establish the standard of victory, be granted the authority of a direct child, and cross over. Without inheriting the authority of a direct child centered on the standard of an adopted son, one cannot rise from the growth stage to the completion stage. The completion stage is the place that direct children who have not fallen ascend to.

Deny Yourself Completely

But the direct children, Adam and Eve, lost love. Because the two, Adam and Eve, lost it, the two must, centering on love, be restored while bearing children. The Blessing of the Unification Church is to set up two people in this position and ascend while multiplying children. This is the Blessing. The completion stage is the realm one ascends to in the name of a direct child.

To ascend there, one must go the Seven-Year Course. So must one go the Seven-Year Course, or not? (One must go.) Those who dislike going may quit.

Jesus too had seven years, from age thirty-three to forty, to cross beyond the growth stage into the completion stage. But because Jesus died on the cross, these seven years that he could not go remained, which is why in Christianity they speak of the seven-year great tribulation. Centering on the number forty, one must complete the number four of the Principle of Restoration. This is unavoidable. Even if the Teacher contrived it, he could not contrive it this well. Since it is a matter that unfolded centering on God’s Will, it is certain. Once you come to know such a providence, you can absolutely never say there is no God. When you come to know it a little more deeply, you absolutely cannot say such a thing.

When the Teacher speaks of such content, no one can budge. However bright in theory a person is, once caught by the Teacher, he is set to submit. But it is a han that the Teacher still cannot reveal this history. When this whole world becomes a world of goodness, then perhaps it may be revealed. But there is still a story I must carry hidden. If you devote much sincerity, perhaps the spirit world will teach it to you.

Must you escape the lot of a servant, or not? (We must escape it.) From whom did this blood of the flesh come? Where did the feelings of the five bodily senses come from? All were received from Satan. So you must do the work of gouging out the eyes, tearing the nose, bursting the ears, cutting the tongue, and binding up the legs. You must deny yourself thoroughly. Without denying, it will not do.

Therefore, in the Unification Church, it is enjoined, “Be completely denied.” From the nation, from society, by men, women, children, old people, and even one’s own relatives—by every person there is—you must be denied. So be denied any amount. People denying us, opposing us, is presenting to us a condition of indemnity. So is being opposed a thankful thing or a bad thing? (It is a thankful thing.)

Satan opposed God until now, but because that in the end became setting up a condition by which indemnity could be done, Satan’s opposing for six thousand years in the end became helping God’s work. That is why God is God. Do you understand what I mean? Seeing you look puzzled, you do not understand. If you do not understand, so be it.

Make a New Flower Bloom on the Ground of Your Seniors’ Toil

It is good that the Teacher treats you as servants, is it not? (Yes.) The people in the university district until now, have you been treated as servants by the Teacher? (Yes.) But being treated as a servant is a blessing for you. Even while being treated as servants, you are hanging on, seeking to live due to the younger siblings. Now Abel and the parents are joining to seek to restore Cain. Because such a heartistic standard has remained until now, you have not acted like an elder seeking to kill a younger, but there will have been times you bowed your head in shame before those who did not attend university. That will become a condition of indemnity. Those who strut about there are the ungifted ones. Because you had such a mind, the opportunity to blossom again has been given to you. This is your present position.

Now is the time to do ministry centering on Abel. On the ground where they have toiled until now, the Seonghwa University students must fulfill the mission of making flowers bloom. This is the view the Teacher sees from the principled position. What is your thought? Do you welcome it? Those who welcome it raise both hands. Lower them.

Then what kind of path is the path you must go?

Last evening too, the Seonghwa University students came to the Teacher and, saying there were problems with their course ahead, made the following requests.

First, that they be dispatched to the provinces as acting regional leaders; second, that, in doing the activity of the Principle Research Association, student guidance committee members be assigned from those of university background.

Furthermore, that a university-student newspaper be permitted so that a worldwide cultural movement could be spread in the university district; and further, that they be considered for a functional-supervisor post at Tongil Industries. The answer to those requests of yours is the one Message today. Has this Message become an answer, or not? (It has.)

The Teacher too has hope as high as a mountain, no less than you. But because I must drive countless humankind onto the path of a servant, the Teacher himself first wore the body of a servant. Without that, one is not qualified to make others serve as servants. To make others serve as servants, I must first become a servant. I must become the servant of this nation. That is why the Teacher has a history of becoming a faithful servant and attending even a three-year-old baby morning and evening. He attended that baby like God.

Also, the Teacher has lived in a lice-infested slum, has carried loads of coal, and has carried loads of salt. There is nothing he has not done. He has begged, and he has gone into the dens of prostitutes and pulled them out of dens of evil. He did such things while receiving all manner of misunderstanding. Because the Teacher had to be concerned for people of such classes, this complicated history unfolded. One who does such a thing for himself is a fake. He is a swindler, a heretic. But the Teacher truly was for their sake. You must know that the Teacher had such a history.

At such a historical starting point, you must resolve that han. Then from where does one take the starting point of an emotional, or heartistic, resolve? At the place where one takes such a starting point, you must go in the Teacher’s stead.

When you, from such a place, shed tears and receive persecution, the Teacher’s blood beats in your veins. In that place, you must strike Satan down and resolve the historical han. You must bring the enemy villain to submission.

Now Is the Time for the Seonghwa University Students to Step Forth Before the People

You, from the position of standing in for your teacher, must take charge part by part and fight, but you must not stop there; you must unfold this fight horizontally, that is, on a whole-national scale. Only then does the ceremony of releasing Heaven’s han unfold here. Therefore, even going to such a place, you must stand in the position closest to God, closer than anyone. Becoming God’s position, even if you are placed in the most persecuted, hardest-to-overcome, destitute position that no people in the world could endure, you must cross beyond it.

The Teacher fell into such a place. In such a place, many trod on me and sought to burn and kill me, but there was no one to take my hand and counsel and comfort me. That is why in that age the Teacher could not resolve his han. So when you go to such a place and move together with them and comfort them with tears, you must resolve the han of this people bound up in the past.

Only when you resolve the pent-up han of these people does a movement for the people’s liberation begin from then. That is why the Teacher, with eyes closed, seeks to drive you out. That is why, in the first forty-day course, I went out centering on twenty days. At that time, from overwork, I developed pleurisy. But that was not the issue. The curfew and such were not the issue either.

Even at three or four in the morning, I ran while sleeping. The pain was not the issue, and lying down with my side burst was not the issue. With a heart that could be no more urgent, with only the mind that I must fulfill the responsibility of a commander, I worked. And so I remained not in the least indebted to you, heartistically.

Meeting people on the roadside with tears, and when parting, holding their hands and telling them to keep the tie of heart that Heaven was with, I said, “Until I am victorious and appear before this nation, this people, and the world, do not die; endure and go on.” You do not know how I longed for that day. And I felt that this was the very heart with which God was guiding me.

Because the Teacher knew that this path is a path of love, he has guided the witnessing activity until now. But among you there are those who scoff and say, “The Teacher’s telling us to suffer is probably because his birth is fundamentally such.” That is utterly wrong. The one in the position closest to Heaven must do that work.

In the 1960s, when we walked the First Seven-Year Course, illiterate women and boys and girls, people who had not even finished elementary school, shed tears and blood and sweat and devoted sincerity for this nation. But in this Second Seven-Year Course, young university men and women of the educated class must, with the same mind as they, become one and stand before this people. If that is done, these people will be restored instantly.

Though such a mission is before you, if you do not do it, your ancestors become unfortunate. Not only your ancestors, but your relatives and descendants too become unfortunate. So in the end, the Korean people become a pitiful people. We were born as descendants of the Baedal people. Because we received such an endowment, we must do our utmost for these people. So one must devote the greatest sincerity—for a grandmother if a grandmother, for a grandfather if a grandfather, for an aunt if an aunt, for the young if the young.

You who attend university must all be blessed hereafter. By the principled view, the signpost you must go by has come out. This path you must go from the position of the Teacher’s elder or younger brother of old. Do you understand? You must resolve the deep-seated han that Jesus harbored toward the people and fatherland in his youth.

You must tread over and pass beyond the wretched circumstances in which Jesus was hounded and chased alone in loneliness or packed his bundle. And so you must take your place and reign in the battlefield with Satan. This is the rule of the ceremony of releasing han through indemnity.

A Mind That Seeks the Common Prosperity of Humankind

If the very place where you take on responsibility is a place to die, when you can say you will die a thousand times without hesitation, you are blessed. The difference between a place where one can die once and a place where one can die a thousand times is as vast as heaven and earth.

The faith life of the Unification Church is a life of cultivating, within daily life, the standard of evaluation of in what position one will walk together with Heaven. This becomes your property when you go to that world and becomes the boundary line that determines, in the new age to come, whether you become a protagonist of history or a straggler. You must take such content to heart.

You must kick off the fate of a servant and step forth. Gazing at the deep-rooted blood and cells of Satan that have been in my body for six thousand years, one must deny oneself with the mind that says, “How shall I burn this away? If this were gone, I would immolate myself a thousand times.” One must keep far from all that one’s eyes like and receive all that one dislikes as good. Among what one hears, sees, and feels, one must deny all that one likes. In this sense, we are opposed. But those who oppose are all Satan. Therefore, when our whole is opposed by Satan, everything is handed over to us. This is God’s strategy.

In the Last Days, a history unfolds of snatching what belongs to the haves and giving it to the have-nots. So Heaven’s grace and blessing too were given to the established churches and are all snatched back. In the end, because of this, we are opposed and suffer much. Those who struck at the truth must all receive judgment. Because it is the ordinance of Heaven and earth to compare results against the absolute standard of goodness, God, too, to determine completely centering on goodness, sets us in the opposed position.

So the Teacher too did the work of a servant. The Teacher too served as a servant of servants. So when you go to the countryside and see a herdboy, you must think that the Teacher too had a herdboy period, and when you see a farmer or a laborer, you must think that the Teacher too had a farmer or laborer period. Do you understand? (Yes.)

About “family members,” the Teacher has explained it directly at some time, so you will know. Without being equipped with the ground by which the mind that can love Jesus more than one’s own parents or siblings can become a mind that, crossing beyond the people, can enjoy common prosperity together with all humankind of the world, one cannot become a son or daughter of God.

Well then, will you go as the Teacher tells you, or not? (We will go.) When the Teacher gives such a sermon, why do you push and shove like children? If the Teacher just left you be, you would take even the Teacher’s feet and make them your own! Because the Teacher is this size, he holds out without toppling; otherwise, he would have toppled. Thus, while wishing to touch the Teacher with your bodies, when told to suffer, you say you dislike it. And you do well what you are told not to do—you are hopeless wretches. Will you do as the Teacher says? If you will not, do not strut about saying you will live.

You have a place to go, so you must go there and be blown up. You know where the place to be blown up is, do you not? (Yes.) You have now come to know the reason you must be blown up there. So going to the countryside and becoming a farmer too is a truly splendid thing. What is it about the heroine of the novel Evergreen, the woman Chae Yeong-sin, that shines? Love shines. She is a woman ahead of any woman in all the world in love.

Indemnity Is Accomplished in a Difficult Place

The Teacher wishes you to be more excellent than the Teacher. If, through the Principle, you have learned the Teacher’s un-excellent point, what would it be? It would be running away. The Teacher has fled much until now. Jesus too did so. But you need not run away. The Teacher has laid the whole footing. So do not run away, but face the opponent splendidly.

Now is not the time to run away and wage guerrilla war. Now one must wage full-scale war. Kim Il-sung too waged guerrilla war, did he not? What are you? (We are the Unification band.) From now on we must grapple with them and wage full-scale war. So you must wage a life-staking fight in each field.

The Teacher sought to wage such a fight in his thirties. But it was extended by twenty years. The years in between were years of han. It was a history of lament, a history of sorrow. Because unless you strip this off, there is no way ahead for this nation, this people; the Teacher is to this day doing the movement to strip this off.

You know that the people of Israel, who betrayed Jesus, were, for two thousand years, a people without a nation, violated by the world. Because I know this, wherever I am, in hard times I run over and undergo the hardship directly together with you to set up the condition that you fulfill your responsibility. This is how I am for the sake of the thirty million and love you.

You don't have to graduate from university, get a job, and marry. If you can do a work of historical value and stand at the cutting edge of a course where Heaven’s fortune sweeps in like a typhoon, how splendid a thing that would be! Will you be mobilized once, or not? (We will be mobilized.) Over there, Bangja (the student who played the role of Bangja), will you be mobilized or not? (I will be mobilized.) If Bangja, should you not do the role of Heaven’s Bangja once? To do the role of Heaven’s Bangja, one must come out having woven that much of a history. Then who would be the young master of Heaven? It is the coming Lord.

To do Bangja, one should do the Bangja of the coming Lord. Because you are in the position of standing in for the Teacher, you have the authority to become sons and daughters of God. That authority cannot be had carelessly. Even if one says alone, “God, from such-and-such a day at such-and-such an hour I will set out on the Seven-Year Course by myself,” God does not say, “Very well.” Only when one sets out centered on the Teacher’s word does God acknowledge it.

The most fearsome thing in the Unification Church is being made unable to take part in the hardship of the public Seven-Year Course. There is nothing more fearsome than that.

If one cannot take part in the Seven-Year Course, there is no Restoration or anything. How precious a thing it is that you have been granted the privilege of taking part in such a precious course of public life! That there is this Seven-Year Course on earth today is the gospel among gospels.

This period is a period of re-creation. Because God’s not being able to complete creation in the seven-day period became a han, to restore that, at least seven years are needed. Therefore, anyone must go through those seven years. The Teacher passed through twenty-one years. So, women, will you go the Seven-Year Course? Unless the Seven-Year Course is completed, there will be no Blessing. Will you still go? (Yes.) The men? (We will go.)

Become the Protagonists of World Restoration

The university students will be sent to hard places. Especially, the clever students will be sent to the hardest places. To indemnify having strutted about because of one’s good head, one must go to the hardest place. The clever people must be at the front line, and the dull-headed people must take charge of the rear. This is the first article of the exhortation to you under the name of the Seonghwa University students’ general assembly.

How does it feel to receive the exhortation?

If such a thing had happened to the Teacher, he would already have flown off. Like a guided missile, he would already have flown off. Until now I have fought centering on that one thing. And so, in seven years, everything was settled, was it not? (Yes.) At this time, one must devote the whole seven thousand years of history and liquidate it. Originally, it was to be liquidated during the First Seven-Year Course from 1960 to 1967.

Now is the age of world Restoration. By 1970, the three-year period of the Second Seven-Year Course, seen by all the world’s conditions too, is the time when everything is completely converging into one. Are the world’s conditions so, or not?

If they are not, it means there is no God. The Unification Church Principle is this great. The Unification Church spoke of a dreamlike foundation of Restoration, and its basis has been presented in reality. Then what is the motive by which such foundations came to be spoken of?

The Unification Church’s Teacher Moon is the very author of it. Hearing such words, does it feel good or bad? (It feels good.) Would the people of the world feel good or bad hearing such words? They would probably feel as bad as death, and you? (It feels good.) Even those who feel as bad as death, if you just soothe their feelings, will just blink their eyes and stay still even if you snatch away all they have.

By the principled view, now is the time to restore through indemnity all that the Teacher suffered and was chased for in the old days. So women, breaking off that unspeakably sorrowful history of being condemned before their husbands and parents on the path of faith until now, have come to stand in a position where they can speak boldly, centering on the nation. And they can appear as representative priests who can release the sorrow of the historical figures. How splendid a thing this is!

Like the leading actors of a film, you become the leading actors of the real world. The real leading actor is the one who plays at the very cutting edge of history. Think of the heavenly history surging wherever that leading actor goes. How splendid a thing it is! So if you are a man, in a manly, splendid way, go to the countryside and serve even as a farmhand. Though he does not look it, if one carries loads well, eats rice well, and walks about barefoot well, he is praised. Do such work once too. The Teacher too served as a farmhand during Japanese colonial rule. Fleeing the Japanese scoundrels, I did it much. But even serving as a farmhand, become a splendid farmhand.

Now Is the Time to Charge Head-On

For you too, to recover the nation, there is no other path but this, so you must go this path with a glad heart. Now we have many comrades. Some bands will go to the North and throw it into confusion. It is a joint operation with the nation. That is a splendid thing. Do you know the history of your generation? What appeared with no genealogy, no lineage, no basis, and no content is your generation. But it is not that there is none. All of it is within God.

When, after serving as a farmhand that way, you leave, if you gather all the people of the whole village and make them shed floods of tears, then vanish without a sound and without a trace, you become a figure of mystery. And what you have done remains as a wordless education. How splendid a thing that is! Only by doing such work do you come to know that God is alive and can experience that God is with you.

Because the Teacher walked such a path, he seeks to hand down to you, in place of Heaven and earth, such thought and ideology as a tradition. Therefore, passing through such a path is an absolute condition. Will you do so, or not? (We will.) If told to cut off your hand, can you cut off your hand? (Yes.)

If told to cut off your foot, can you cut off your foot too? (Yes.) Then cut them off! The four limbs are Cain. So, even if only the torso remains and spins round, it is enjoined to do it. Even if only eyes, mouth, and nose remain, try it once with the nerve to say you will be victorious no matter what.

How many people are here? (Ninety-six.) Ninety-six? It does not exceed a hundred and, unpleasantly, is ninety-six? Since God fills up the Four Position Foundation, is it not a hundred? You must charge head-on. In a crisis, one must collide head-on. That is the only way to live. Even a spy or an agent, if he runs away when discovered, dies. But even if one dies, one must have the nerve to appear head-on before the commander and shout, “You rascal!”

If I keep telling such stories, there is no end, so let us stop. The Teacher too now feels hungry and faint; shall I stop the Message, or continue? The Teacher is not a dictator, so let us do it while consulting. Is the Message more delicious than rice? (Yes.) Are you rice-ghosts or Message-ghosts? (We are Message-ghosts.) Rice can be eaten anytime, can it not? (Yes.) But can the Message always be eaten? (It cannot.) Then shall we eat what can always be eaten, or what cannot always be eaten? (What cannot always be eaten.) At such a time, the fellows who whine for rice are Satan.

You Must Be Better Than Jesus’ Disciples

You have now come to know what Jesus’ father and mother failed to do. The Teacher knows what kind of person Jesus’ father is. You know Jesus’ mother, do you not?

If you ask virgins and bachelors who have never married what love is, they do not know.

However much they claim to know love, they cannot explain that love is such-and-such. Only when the time comes and one opens the door, does one come to know the real thing. For you to know it now would only be complicated.

Is it better for the Teacher to teach you love, or not to teach it?

You must be honest. It is better not to teach it. Only then can one cross this time. If you really want to know, come after passing through all the paths the Teacher walked, and if you hold my neck and say, “Teacher, is it not all right for me to know now? I will marry, representing the nation and the world,” and if you say you will not retreat even if you die, then I can teach it. But if not, it is difficult to teach it.

If you break off midway, Jesus runs backward. Have you heard that Jesus goes in the Teacher’s stead? Without the qualification to be Jesus’ elder brother, one cannot become a prince of Heaven. That is, unless one is better than Jesus, it will not do. Is that not so?

In the old days there were many who earned a doctorate after passing seventy, but nowadays many earn doctorates in their thirties. Why is that? Because it is like scooping up rice that is already cooked. Between directly farming and cooking one’s own rice and only eating cooked rice, which is easier? Because those who earn doctorates nowadays only scoop up cooked rice; they become doctors in their twenties and thirties.

Then what does it do for us, two thousand years later, to be worse than Jesus of two thousand years ago? What was taught to make you better than Jesus is the Principle. Would Jesus have known the Principle of the Fall? Even if he knew it, what use is it if he alone knew it?

Not teaching it is the same as not knowing it. Had Jesus known the Principle, he would have sat still and found out his father. He would have gone to his father and greeted him, saying, “Father, it is I.” Then the father, startled at first, would have changed his expression and acknowledged him.

If the Teacher were Jesus, he would have fully found the Father. But because Jesus could not find the Father, he is less than the Teacher. In that sense, Jesus is, as it were, in debt to the Teacher. So one must follow the Teacher about. Is this enough to make the Teacher one you can attend? Is it? (Yes.)

Then, between Jesus of that time and the Teacher of this present age, who is better?

Even in speaking, I speak better. Looking at the Bible, Jesus spoke much in parables and symbols. There is much content that would be caught if cross-examined. But the Teacher, though at times he says other things, does not say absurd things. Whatever he has said, he explains without fail the cause of that saying. However fast he speaks, he does not say words that would trip him up. And if the Teacher were less than Jesus, could he do such a thing?

Seen by God, if the Teacher is better than Jesus, would He love Jesus more, or love the Teacher more? And between Jesus’ disciples and you, the Teacher’s disciples, whom would He love more? Between the ragtag band like Peter, James, and John, and the true band of the Unification Church, which would He love more? (He would love the true band more.) And can you be better than the apostle Paul? Or not? (We can be better.) We differ from the very outset in our thinking.

If you ask Unification Church members what God’s Will is, they answer at once.

Now, you—what is God’s Will? (It is to complete the purpose of creation.) See, the answer comes out at once. But the other day, when theological doctors gathered and were doing an interdenominational movement and were asked, “What is God’s Will?” they answered that it was an easy yet difficult question. Asked a question and answered that it is easy yet difficult—where in the world is there such an answer?

Overall, it means we are ahead of them. Is what we learn written in the world’s books? Is there such a book or not? (There is not.) So the library among libraries is right here. Is it not? (Yes.) Here is a library more valuable than gold and diamonds. And since you are strutting about here, would the ancestors in the spirit world, seeing that, want to just leave you be? Until now you have gone about that way. Doing this, you say you will sacrifice yourselves for the Will?

Even If We Cannot Love the Enemy, We Must Love His Children

We must know history. One who knows history well knows how to analyze the age. One who knows how to analyze the age knows how to distinguish the path of ruin and the path of prosperity in that age. That is, he knows the path by which he can follow the ordinance of Heaven’s fortune. Do you understand? Then where is the place that holds the deepest history? It is the Unification Church.

The Unification Church came forth bearing the history of God’s heart. Not only that, it is analyzing the present age with it. So it plainly knows what the world will become hereafter. It is doing a thing worth doing once, having been born a human being. That is why the Teacher has done all manner of things to do this work.

Even being treated as less than human, even going from the sunny side to the shady side, he has, without complaint, unfolded a fight brimming with hope until today. It is the Unification Principle that the Teacher teaches you to make such people. Do you understand? (Yes.)

When you fight, from where must you fight?

You must fight from your own home. Just as the Bible says that one’s enemies are the members of one’s own household, you must first restore your family. Now is the age of family restoration. The Teacher still cannot do family restoration. In that sense, you are better than the Teacher.

The Teacher cannot do family restoration until he has done the ceremony of releasing the han of restoration through indemnity for all humankind. Until then he must leave home and fight in the open field. That fight is done not for one’s own relatives but for the sake of the Gentiles. Do you understand?

God until now has not loved, exalted, and embraced His own kin but has set the person closest to God in the enemy’s position. In other words, driving the closest person to the place of death is the history of the providence of salvation. That is why, for you too, the members of your household all stand in the enemy’s position.

The Teacher’s elder brother knew through prayer that Korea would be liberated. He fell ill with a disease that even the hospital could not cure, but he cured it through prayer. He was an elder brother with such spiritual power. That elder brother did not know whether his younger brother was gifted or not, but he knew at least that he was the one and only person in world history. About the Teacher, he knew that one fact. That is why, when I said anything, he obeyed absolutely. In that sense, the restoration of Cain was completed. He is an elder brother who left such a basis in the history of the Unification Church.

But I could not convey even one word of the Principle Message to such an elder brother. Truly a stifling thing. How good it would be if the history of Restoration could be done centering on the Moon clan! Then mother and father, elder and younger brother, even eighth cousins by marriage, would be restored without problem. If the younger siblings did not listen, one would thrash them. Since I am this size, I would drag them out even by beating them; I would not just leave them. But the Teacher could not do such a thing. Because Jesus could not.

My mother loved me dearly. She bore thirteen children, and eight remained. There were only two sons and six daughters, and among them, my mother loved me most. Yet I could not buy such a mother even a single handkerchief with devotion. Because I had to follow Heaven. Because I had to love the world more than I devoted myself to my mother. Otherwise, one becomes a robber of love. One becomes a swindler. So the Teacher must love the world more than his mother, and love the world more than his wife and children.

Even if one cannot love the enemy who came at one bearing arrows, one must love that enemy’s sons and daughters. Because God’s providence is to restore by loving the descendants of the archangel, even if one cannot love the archangel, we must love the sons and daughters belonging to Satan. The saying that the sons and daughters of the pastors and elders of the established churches become disciples of the Unification Church’s Teacher Moon originates here.

Joseph’s Anguish and Mary’s Distress

Seen from this position, in your generation the members of the household are not enemies. By the indemnity principle that must form the foundation for a tribal messiah, now is the time when one can witness to one’s mother and father. In the old days they opposed it, but now is the time they welcome it.

I ought to tell all about such things, but lunchtime has come. Shall I continue? The Teacher is fine, even hungry, but how about you? (We are fine.) Once we part today, we do not know when we will meet the Teacher again. Is that not so? (Yes.) If the Teacher gives you even an outline, then even if you go out and die midway while fighting, it is splendid. The Teacher has the responsibility to speak so that you can have such conviction. So he cannot but give the Message.

Mary and Joseph should not have lived together. Mary and Joseph living together resulted in the archangel and Eve joining once again. So the archangel came to stand on Satan’s side. Then it is natural that the archangel did not become Jesus’ side.

The betrothed Joseph had only become engaged to Mary, so when Mary’s belly swelled, would he have felt good? Men, think about it. If a woman whom he had not even gone near swelled in the belly, could he, seeing that, say, “Oh, my beloved, come quickly”? Speak honestly.

If the one and only lover in the world, the lover without whom you said you would die, suddenly conceived a child, would you feel good? One who says he would feel good is a mad fellow. Is that not so? However, his betrothed Mary worked her magic, and she conceived. When Joseph learned that fact, he would have wanted to beat Mary to death.

In such a situation, Joseph agonized. Then an angel appeared and said that the one conceived in Mary was of the Holy Spirit, so not to be afraid to take Mary. Did Joseph then say he could not? No. He did not refuse. That is a thing an ordinary man cannot do.

Joseph was the very person who longed and wished for Heaven’s Will to be accomplished and for a prince of Heaven to be born. So he thought, might not Heaven’s Will be accomplished within our family, in my generation, close at hand? Also, Joseph had a history of ever praying more earnestly than anyone for such a thing. That is why he heeded the angel’s words.

However that may be, having borne the child and living together, if he thought quietly, he would have felt bad. Though he says he heard from an angel, that was a dream. You, too, were taught by dream-visions when you entered the Unification Church. Joseph is the same. It was said the angel appeared not in broad daylight with eyes wide open, but in a dream. Among dreams, some dreams come true and idle dreams, and one cannot necessarily think that a dream was surely a dream Heaven taught. From here, Joseph’s thoughts slowly began to change.

Women, when a woman conceives, what symptom arises?

She feels nausea, does she not?

When Mary retched with dry heaves and could not eat, how would Joseph have felt? Men, think well. Would he have said, “Eat more, and more deliciously”? Each such time, his worldly notion he had lived by until then would come first, his habit would come first, his tradition would come first, and he would have been greatly displeased.

If Mary saw such an expression, would she too have been at ease? The more such things happened, the more Mary and Joseph would have grown distant. Even without that, Mary held her breath and only watched Joseph’s mood, and seeing the displeased Joseph, she could not go near him.

Furthermore, Joseph would have wanted to know just whose child it was. Would he not? If you have a betrothed woman who is carrying a child you know nothing of, would you not want to know who the other man is?

Only knowing can one make a life-or-death decision, no? Will you ask the woman who the other man is, or not? Men who could refrain from asking, raise your hands. Not a single one. This is the nature of a man.

Joseph and Mary, Estranged from the Will

Likewise, Joseph too would have asked. And he would have pressed Mary for an answer. Otherwise, he is half-witted. However much it is Heaven’s Will, would there be nothing he wanted to know? So, with the heart that what he wanted to know he must know, he would have pressed and asked. He would have asked over and over until Mary answered.

At that time, could Mary have answered?

To answer would be a grave matter. To have answered would have overturned the world, so she absolutely could not. But Mary had a secret method God had taught, by which she could answer each time Joseph asked. It was that she had conceived by the Holy Spirit. Was that answer well done, or ill? (Well done.)

What is the Holy Spirit?

Is there a law of a person conceiving by the Holy Spirit?

Could Joseph have believed the saying that she conceived by the Holy Spirit? Absolutely not. So quarrels would have been frequent. Think whether this is right or wrong. Her belly kept swelling, and her body grew heavy, and because Joseph did carpentry, breakfast had to be made early, no?

So how Mary would have shuddered at how little Joseph understood! And Joseph, for his part, having found much he found unsatisfactory about Mary, would often have quarreled with words.

As Mary’s body grew heavy, her movements grew heavy too, and she would have passed days in low spirits, and the more so, the Will grew distant, and human circumstances followed. Such things will have happened to you too. There will have been circumstances such as being told to go out on the forty-day witnessing while the school exam was the day after tomorrow.

As the days passed, Mary’s worry would have grown, and what would Joseph have thought then?

At that time in Israel, there was a law that a woman who committed adultery was stoned to death. So he would have thought, “Had I not protected you from the law of Israel, you would already have been stoned to death and vanished into the grave; and now you, who maintain your life due to me, betray me, who am your protector in a place closer than your parents!”

Each such time, how many times must there have been that Joseph asked whose child it was and Mary answered that she had conceived by the Holy Spirit?

Then such a fact would have become rumored; if Joseph’s parents were there, would they not have noticed? And how would the relatives have been? They would probably have gathered and whispered. Women, would it not be so? They would have said, “Such a monstrous creature has entered our house of Joseph and conceived, so we are ruined.” Amid such circumstances, Heaven’s new history departed.

Looking at the Bible, Mary and Joseph did not know what kind of being Jesus was. When they went to Bethlehem to register, it was already full term, so anything could suddenly happen. Then why could they not prepare even a single inn room? On such a long journey, how could they not prepare even a single swaddling cloth?

But in Mary’s circumstances at the time, it could not be helped. Knowing that Joseph felt bad because of the baby, Mary could not prepare for that baby. And Joseph too could not have such a mind. But unavoidably, hoping there would be no such trouble this time and trusting only in God, they hoped to come and go safely. So Jesus came to be born, in the end, in a stable. Jesus being born in a stable is a wrong thing.

Joseph, seeing Mary bear and suckle Jesus, would have grown more anxious about those around him. Would his relatives not have asked Joseph whether this child was his son? At such times Joseph could not answer boldly, “He is my son,” and would have hemmed and hawed. And since such rumors would have spread house to house, when they saw the baby Jesus, discord would have arisen in the household. Thus, Jesus was born sorrowfully and spent his childhood in a disorderly, uneasy atmosphere.

Even at nursing time, Jesus did not receive his father’s protection. How pitiful a thing! What if Mary’s milk had not even come? Now one can feed even cow’s milk, but then one would have to make something like gruel—and would Joseph have liked that? “What is the use of earning by blood and sweat! Only to feed a stepchild,” and in the end there is no Will or anything.

Jesus, Born in Loneliness and Raised in Wretchedness

Is there a saying in the Bible that Joseph appeared when Jesus died on the cross? Look and see whether there is or not. And is there a passage that his parents and siblings went to him when he went out into the wilderness? Anywhere in the Bible, does the word “father” appear? Jesus, born lonely from birth, grew up wretchedly.

When the young Jesus began to learn to speak, he would have called Joseph “Papa.” Hearing that word, would Joseph have felt good? Probably his heart would have gone cold. In Joseph’s eyes gazing at Jesus, instead of love and affection, jealousy and rage would have been full. It becomes so without one’s knowing. You understand that, do you not? (Yes.)

So Jesus, feeling such things from Joseph, would have had to watch Joseph’s mood even to sit on his mother’s lap. Bearing his mother’s bosom, he could not properly nurse, nor properly receive even the rice his mother fed him. Because to do so he had to watch Joseph’s mood. So he could neither go near the father nor sit on the father’s lap. Such was Jesus’ childhood.

In the Bible, there is a passage where Joseph and Mary, returning from Jerusalem, lost Jesus and found him again after three days (Luke 2:41–46). Would Joseph or Mary not have known that Jesus had been left behind? Then why would they have sought Jesus only after a day had passed? Behind it was an unpleasant circumstance due to Jesus.

Could a mother who had taken her child along leave him behind and come? And even if she left him behind and came, would she not have thought of Jesus during that one day?

When going to Jerusalem, he trotted along behind; on returning, would she not have known Jesus was gone? Could there be such a thing? Mary knew Jesus was gone, but due to Joseph, she could not say, Let us go and find Jesus and bring him. How wretched a thing! Though she knew Jesus was gone, when Joseph said, Let us go, Mary would have wanted to plead to bring Jesus. Mary would have set out bearing such distress.

But Joseph too, thinking quietly as he went along, saw that if he went home just like this, since there were already this and that rumor, strange rumors and various complicated matters would surely arise. Such thoughts arose, and it was not feasible; he went back to fetch Jesus.

How stifled Jesus, who was in the temple, must have felt seeing them! Where in the world are there such parents? Jesus, remaining there, would have watched other parents come embracing their children and go embracing them, coming and going hand in hand. So he would have resented his parents, thinking, “Our parents were so in the past, and today too they abandon me like an orphan and go.”

After spending three days this way, when Joseph and Mary came and said, “What are you doing here?”, how would Jesus have been?

The Bible writes it nicely that Jesus, being full of knowledge, was discussing the scriptures with the priests and scribes, but was Jesus doing that because he liked it? No. That was the figure of pitiful Jesus. The parents failed their responsibility.

Since they were such that they found Jesus only after going a day’s journey and returning, it could not but be that Jesus later bore the cross alone. And so Jesus at that time made an expression of rebuttal. “It is not that I am great. I am nothing…” Have you heard such words for the first time? Those are fine words. They are a statement of rebuttal against parents who failed their responsibility. That is why later Jesus, having left home, ignored Mary even at the wedding feast in Cana of Galilee.

Jesus, Who Left Home Unavoidably

Jesus set out on the road because of Mary and Joseph. Had Mary and Joseph upheld him well, Jesus would not have needed the course of public life. In Joseph’s family, the Kingdom of Heaven would have been realized.

After Adam and Eve fell, was the Kingdom of Heaven realized on the fallen earth by propagandizing and witnessing God’s Will to the world?

If a family goes well according to God’s Will, the Kingdom of Heaven is realized even if one stays still. Therefore, Jesus, who could have stayed still, had to leave home and walk the three-year course of public life because Mary and Joseph failed their responsibility.

Joseph and Mary, from the day Jesus was born, had to serve him preciously, holding up a table morning, noon, and evening. Being a prince of Heaven, must he not be so served? They also had to bow in worship to Jesus. And Jesus, as a prince of Heaven, had to form a relationship with them and, by Heaven’s ordinance, realize the Kingdom of Heaven from one family. Jesus had to hold onto Joseph and form the relationship he and Heaven were to form by the providence, even by appealing with tears. But in that family environment, Jesus could not. It was not an environment in which he could.

Jesus in his heart earnestly wished it so, but no object partner would hear such words of Jesus and put them into action. The stepfather failed, the mother failed—who would do it? Who would support it? The fence of love, the fence of the heart, had all collapsed. So unavoidably, Jesus went the three-year course of public life. That is why the motive of Jesus’ coming to die too lies with Joseph and Mary; and now the Catholic Church attends to this very Mary as the Holy Mother Mary.

When Jesus was witnessing in Galilee, his disciples once said, “Teacher, your mother and brothers seek you.” Then Jesus said, “Who are my mother and my brothers? He who does the Father’s Will is my brother.” From that, it means Jesus’ mother and brothers did not do the Father’s Will. At that time, in Jesus’ heart there would have been the thought, “You who ruined me so, why do you come seeking me now?” Jesus had such circumstances and history.

When Jesus was in a grave scene, is there a record of Joseph appearing?

Mary too did not know until Jesus died on the cross. When only the women who followed shed tears, he said, “Daughters, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.” Even here, is there a word about Joseph? Joseph slipped away, did he not? That is because Joseph failed his responsibility.

Joseph had to become Jesus’ chief disciple. As a descendant of Jacob, Joseph had to become the chief disciple who upheld Heaven’s Will. Had he done so, since Joseph was in the archangel’s position, he would have become the representative figure who upheld Heaven’s Will and established the heavenly law.

Furthermore, Joseph in the archangel’s position had to attend to Jesus from within the womb. Because, through the Fall of the human ancestors, Satan’s seed was planted in the womb, to restore this, by the principle of restoration through indemnity, the one standing in the archangel’s position had to attend the Son of God from within the womb. Without that, Restoration is not done. That this was not done was Jesus’ han. Due to this, Jesus could not have parents, could not have siblings, could not have his partner.

Jesus’ parents, siblings, and relatives had to form, centered on Joseph’s family—the result of four thousand years of history—the twelve apostles, the seventy disciples, the hundred and twenty disciples. But because that family all betrayed Jesus’ expectation and stood in the position of betrayers, Jesus, all alone, in their stead, had to lay again the foundation of history that God had toiled for four thousand years to lay. In the process of laying this foundation, Jesus was hounded and chased and died.

The people of Israel were the ground laid for Jesus. But because they killed Jesus, the nation of Israel remained only spiritually, and the substantial people of Israel became, for two thousand years, a people rejected, persecuted, and contemned worldwide.

That Israel became independent in 1948 means the time to blossom again has come. Because now is like the time when Jesus was hounded family-wise and nation-wise, in this environment—that is, in a position surrounded within the Arab realm—one must fight and win. In the past there was a foundation by which one could win without fighting, but now one must fight and win. Such is the fate of present-day Israel.

That Israel, even in such a plight, presses down and advances over the Arab realm until now is because Heaven’s time has come. When Israel hereafter becomes one with Korea and advances, it can defeat Satan’s forces without problem. Unless the Lord at the Second Advent comes upon this earth, the ceremony of releasing han is not accomplished. Then a nation cannot be established either.

To Indemnify, One Must Know History

You will know it all from learning the Principle, but history was woven this way, centering on Christianity. Then where will that history bear fruit? It will bear fruit in Korea. Then, centering on whom in Korea must indemnity be done? It must be done, centering on the Teacher. To indemnify, one must know history. Without knowing the content of Adam and Eve’s fall, one cannot indemnify. One must know all the circumstances of Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and the twelve apostles.

Just as a doctor cannot operate without knowing the disease, one must lay everything bare and, by today’s new knowledge and principle-ordinance, equip a firm system and indemnify. That is the Principle. The Principle is not something delusional. It is something equipped with a practical system. They are things the Teacher determined by fighting the satanic world. Because in the spirit world the Unification Church must stand at the highest place, this was determined.

The spirit world is on a par with the angelic world. Do you understand? And the world of today is in a position like Adam and Eve. But because the spirit world was made before Adam and Eve were made, and the Lord at the Second Advent is in Adam’s stead, the spirit world that existed before is on a par with the angelic world.

Because the satanic world came into being through the spirit world opposing God’s Will, only when the spirit world welcomes God’s Will is that world restored. Also, without bringing the spirit world to submission, the Lord cannot come to the earthly world. So because the Unification Church has been bringing the spirit world to submission until now, the spirit world must cooperate with the Unification Church.

If you ask spiritually attuned people about the Teacher, they will testify at once. Have you looked into such things? Some will have. Is it a fact or not? (It is so.) This is a dreamlike story. This is, among events, a worldwide event—no, a cosmic event. Because the Unification Church folk hear and see such things as common knowledge, they think it could be so, but for other people it is an astonishing event. Yet everything, seen by the Principle, is set to be so. If it were not so, it would all be a lie.

The Fall was done by women first, spiritually. That is why, when you look at spiritual works, they generally do the spiritual work of Restoration through women. Furthermore, because this was done together with the archangel, to restore it, Jesus must come spiritually.

In the end, since the Fall was spiritual, Restoration too must be done spiritually. That is why nowadays there are people who dream that the Teacher spiritually puts a ring on their finger and holds a wedding. Those going the normal course may not know it, though.

Because Eve fell spiritually first and then formed a physical relationship centered on Adam and multiplied children, you of the present cannot be restored by directly forming a conjugal relationship among yourselves. It is not yet that stage. Then what course must one pass through? That is all in the Principle. Looking at the historical facts outlined in the Principle, one cannot deny the Principle however one tries.

The Fall is a wrongful love committed at the completion level of the growth stage. Then how strong is the love at the completion level of the completion stage? It cannot be told. When women enter the Unification Church, the worldly husband they lived with until then will feel like nothing. Entering the Unification Church, one feels a powerful spiritual force.

This is the same for men. Men must adore the Teacher more than any woman in the world. Only then is Restoration done. The principle is so. Men too must wail aloud three times or more from longing to see the Teacher. Now you think lightly of the Teacher, but in the past it was so. It used to happen that men, without knowing it, went to buy a train ticket from longing to see the Teacher. But now, you men—is that so? (It is so.) What do you mean, so?

Because the Fall is centered on wrongful love, unless one loves more than that, Restoration is not done. That is why Jesus’ saying in the Bible to love me more than anyone is all resolved, centering on this principle.

The Third Seven-Year Course and Our Responsibility

Now the Unification Church has won in the spiritual world. Therefore, it must fight and win over this satanic world, the physical world, too. Then who must fight? Satan came into being because the parents did wrong. So to bring Satan to submission, the parents must fight. The parents bring the worldwide Satan to submission, and next you must bring Satan’s children to submission.

So in the First Seven-Year Course from 1960 to 1967, the parents won at the worldwide standard, centering on the vertical standard. Therefore, the Second Seven-Year Course is your age. From here you must fight horizontally. The Second Seven-Year Course is the growth age. History has always waged the decisive fight centering on the second. Likewise, on the Second Seven-Year Course hangs the question of what becomes of Korea.

Until 1974, when the Second Seven-Year Course ends, Korea must cooperate with and help the Will of the Unification Church. Do you understand? If not, and it blocks the Will and does not fit this principle, God will not forgive it. Centering on such a ground, we must advance.

When the Second Seven-Year Course ends, one must cross beyond the national standard, and when one crosses the Third Seven-Year Course, one must cross beyond the world standard. The time the Third Seven-Year Course ends is the 1980s. By “the seventies” is meant 1970 to 1979. So even if it ends in 1981, in history it remains as the eighties. By then one must cross beyond the worldwide standard.

Why must all of this be so? Because, in restoring the orbit of the Principle through indemnity, the Teacher must re-enact the history horizontally. So, centering on twenty-one years, this crosses over as a worldwide fortune. Do you understand?

The present age is your age, that is, the age of the son. The next, the third, is the age of the grandson. Is that not so? Adam is the grandfather, Jesus the father, we the sons—thus three generations. This is what the Unification Church must cross over, centering on horizontal history. Seen centering on horizontal history, the Teacher is the Adam-type, and you are the Jesus-type. For three stages to be set up here, one must fulfill the mission of the grandson age. That is why this must be done during the twenty-one years centered on this Seven-Year Course. If during this period we fulfill our responsibility, the world situation until crossing beyond the eighties will come to fit the providence. Seen at the present point, society too is turning to fit the Principle. Who made it so? You and the Teacher did.

But it is not that you came here this way because you are gifted. Looking at your faces, they are all homely. Watching you exercise yesterday, you were all short and homely. There was not one gifted person. Yet you yourselves probably think you are gifted. Indeed, if one is too gifted, there is regret in offering as a sacrifice, so it will not do. To offer without lingering attachment, being homely is better. So I thought, “These rascals are just right for making offerings.” Does it feel good, or bad? (It feels good.)

You, advancing toward the seventies, must first restore the Republic of Korea internally. And then you must do external restoration. In that sense, that the Unification Church is doing the internal work and the government is doing the economic restoration is a perfect thing.

The fortune of the world is coming to Korea. At such a time, the government too, because it needs the Unification Church even if indirectly, is not opposing us. This is Cain and Abel keeping time together. Seen by the Principle, such things must unfold, centering on the Unification Church.

I ought to tell you the whole history centered on the Teacher, but there is no time today, so I will stop. Next time, if you do your work well, I will tell it, and if not, I will not. Do you understand? (Yes.) If I ever gather you and tell this story, you will be unable to deny this Will, however you try. How it fits so exactly is not even in the Principle book. Only the Teacher knows it. At times the Teacher tells a piece of it, but you probably cannot understand it all.

Restoration Through Indemnity by Way of the History of Misfortune

The district leaders newly appointed this time must absolutely not fall behind last year’s district leaders. Neither in witnessing nor in economic restoration must they fall behind. Such a person is one whose posture of advance is not set. One must not complain, saying, “Oh dear, how am I to move with this?”

In doing the work, one must not do it centering on money. One must not say the sort of word that, forsaking God’s heart and hope, one cannot work because there is no money. One must not even let it out of one’s mouth. What one has invested here, God will hereafter repay. If He does not, there will be no development for you, but only stagnation.

You work centering on a secret of God that no one in the world knows. So we can see, from the very bottom, various facts realized in actual life. The first fact is the fall of the human being committed before God. Adam’s fall is the greatest event in human history. But even at the time of Jesus, who was to restore Adam’s fall, it failed again.

So the history of Adam and Jesus is a history of misfortune. The second time, it failed in Jesus’ family.

Therefore, the Teacher must restore all of Adam’s mistakes and the failure at Jesus’ time. Now we have come to the stage where that can be done. Though we are being hounded before the people, still the Republic of Korea can no longer eliminate the Unification Church. It is already established in the world; can it be eliminated? Is that not so? Centering on the Teacher, upon the blessed foundation, a Four Position Foundation has been formed, and the children are multiplying. So even if the Teacher dies, the Will will be accomplished.

Now is the time for dealing with a fight already finished. So the issue is how quickly one deals with it. The fight is all over. So here, for the first time, God’s wish is accomplished. The history of sorrow is changed into a history of joy. In the spirit world, it is already all accomplished.

This past September, the second year of the Second Seven-Year Course, was the most severe ridge. The second year is the Jesus-type year, and centered on the Teacher’s sons, it corresponds to Heejin. So, because you failed your responsibility, Heejin was caught and passed over. Originally, Heejin was not to go out witnessing.

This year, a full-scale mobilization had to be done, but because the family members did not mobilize, saying the Teacher’s standing would not stand unless he himself went, he asked, and I permitted it. The Teacher has guided things that way. In exchange, I asked him to be careful. Because the Teacher has crossed beyond Satan, Satan is aiming at the sons and daughters. So in the Teacher’s family, Heejin was caught and passed over. This is the content I prayed over gravely during this period.

By this, just as Jesus in his thirties prepared the foundation of spiritual salvation, through Heejin’s sacrifice the foundation of spiritual salvation was widened so that even the children within the adolescent realm can be saved. Centered on them, the horizontal realm of benefit by which returning resurrection can be done has widened.

In that sense, I did not shed a single tear. If I shed tears, I cannot become a father in the public position. So until now I have not shed a single drop of tears. It must not be shed. Heejin was offered up cleanly as an offering.

Heejin was born in Japan. Born in the external world, he went cleanly to the external world. Jesus went abroad and came back, did he not? (Yes.) So Heejin too had to go abroad and come back. In a way you do not know, I have woven such a history and prepared the ground of Restoration. You will not know how much distress and sorrow and history of misfortune is contained in it. Hereafter, when you become the Teacher’s direct sons and daughters and, as a common destiny, resolve that you can die in one pit, and firmly resolve that you will surely live here and die here, I will tell you the detailed story.

Some spiritually attuned people say, regarding Heejin’s death, that a second ancestor has died. It means that, because the Unification Church members did wrong, the Unification Church lost a second ancestor.

The Unification Church: Greeting a New Age of Resurrection

Now, entering October, a new age of resurrection comes to the Unification Church.

Just like Jesus’ history of spiritual resurrection, a new age will unfold.

Furthermore, today, October 4, is the Teacher’s prison-release anniversary. It is the day he came out of Seodaemun Prison. And in just ten more days, the Teacher will cross the ridge of twenty-one years. Centered on the day he was released from Heungnam Prison, he crosses the ridge of twenty-one years. Spiritually attuned people know all such things too. Even if the Teacher does not say that October 14 is the day of crossing the external ridge, they all know.

There is a throng that prays through the night centered on such matters. Do you even know such things? So even now, knowing that we are crossing over such an age and such a point, you must unite as one. The Teacher’s history I will tell you later. Do you want to know? (Yes.) Only by going, knowing such history, can you hold up your face and step forth before the Teacher.

To know this, you must go and fight and come back. Those who will go to fight, raise your hands. You must fight well. In fighting, you must fight with the authority of a prince. Do not fight as a mean coward. Strong and bold, go strong and bold, as Joshua and Caleb went toward the promised land of Israel. With the conviction that you fight in God’s stead and fight and win in the Teacher’s stead, become one who acts in Heaven’s stead.

That is why the slogan of the first year of the First Seven-Year Course was “Let this be the year that leaves the greatest achievement of one’s life.” This is, as a man, to seek the Mother. The next, the second-year slogan, is “Let us become one who acts in the Father’s stead.” Because, for the first time, the Mother has been found, one can act in the Father’s stead toward the restored Kingdom of Heaven. This is said about the Teacher’s whole life. The third is “Let us become one who can show and boast.” What one can show and boast of is sons and daughters. Now is the time when Seongjin and Heejin are growing. This is said centering on your course of Restoration. So this slogan is the same as your slogan.

You must, centered on the Seven-Year Course, make the highest year of your life before Heaven. As a lost man, you must make the highest year of finding the lost woman. And so you must become one who acts in God’s stead and show and boast. And next you must become a victorious lord of dominion. Since the Four Position Foundation has been completely restored, one must have dominion over the realm of victory. What hinders this work must be struck down.

When, in 1960, the Teacher said, “When this Seven-Year Course passes, a complete foundation that I need and that I can move will be laid,” you said it was a dreamlike tale, did you not? But looking now, it has become as I said then. Now, in the Second Seven-Year Course up to 1974, we must make the restoration of the Republic of Korea and the foundation of the Kingdom of Heaven. Then how does one make it? Restoration must be done centering on spirit and flesh.

So, church-wise, it is moved spiritually, centered on the Message, and world-wise, physically, centered on ideology. That is why we carry forth the anti-communist ideology that the democratic world cannot. This corresponds to the pillar of fire and the pillar of cloud that guided them when Moses left Egypt. Centering on the pillar of fire and the pillar of cloud, if, outwardly bringing the worldwide communist realm to submission and inwardly establishing the ordinance of the family, this is connected to the world stage, the Kingdom of Heaven on earth is completed. Do you understand?

Hearing this, now do you grasp roughly the outline of how the providence turns? (Yes.) For that, during this period too, the Teacher is the leader, leading you and fighting on.

Now is the time for a fierce struggle. You must know this. So, if you have money, you must be able to use it not for yourselves but for the nation and for God. You must be able to say that devoting sincerity to my church is also devoting sincerity to the nation. Thereby, when the nation becomes the ground, one totally mobilizes that nation and works for the world. The humankind of the world is seeking a nation that can do this. You understand, do you not?
