Our Resolve on Welcoming the Seventies

· Former Headquarters Church, Korea · Vol. 30-13

Today, as you know, is the eleventh Parents’ Day. Meanwhile, we have held such commemorative ceremonies several times. Though in the sixties we let such Parents’ Days flow by as days we simply celebrated, in this arena of having set out into this new year of the seventies, it must become a newly welcomed Parents’ Day.

The Providential History of Restoration Is a History for Establishing One Person

On the course of the providence from after the human being’s fall until now, God has come forth desiring Parents’ Day, but that day was not found. Then today our Unification Church appeared, and at last this Parents’ Day came to be set. We know well the fact that through this Parents’ Day being set, Children’s Day, the Day of All Things, and God’s Day too came to be set.

We know that even until the setting of this Parents’ Day in 1960, ten years ago from now, all the created world of all things existing in heaven and earth had groped through a history of sorrow according to the principle of Restoration through Indemnity.

God, after Adam and Eve’s fall, passing through Noah’s age, and passing through Abraham’s and Moses’ ages until Jesus’ time, fought through a long history of four thousand years with a heart (심정) that no one at all can fathom, to restore this Parents’ Day. We must know such a fact.

God sent countless prophets and noble forebears upon this earth and, achieving a sphere of a chosen people from the individual to the family, clan, people, and nation age by age, wove four thousand years of history until Jesus came to this earth, to prepare one foundation that could become the center of that sphere of the chosen people. Inferring from such a fact, it means that four thousand years of history were a history for establishing Jesus alone.

Seen from such a providential position, all the people of that age could not but become one with Jesus. But we know that the people of Israel, who were chosen then, did not become one with Jesus.

Can the descendants of fallen Adam and the original Parents be connected just as they are? Here one must without fail be equipped with the form of individual, family, clan, people, and nation and stand in a position in accord with Jesus’ mind as a nation Jesus desires, a people Jesus desires, a clan Jesus desires, a family Jesus desires, a true individual Jesus desires. When it becomes so, Jesus can take his place upon the foundation prepared through the course of history until then. We know this fact through the Principle.

For an individual to stand in such a position, the family must uphold him, and for the family to stand, the clan must uphold it, and for the clan to stand, the people must uphold it, and for the people to stand, the nation must uphold it, and for the nation to stand, the world must uphold it. It means that for the people of Israel, whom Jesus came seeking, there remained a condition of having to walk such a compounded course of indemnity. We know this.

So for Jesus to stand, Joseph’s family had to become a fence. In order for Joseph’s family to stand, Joseph’s clan had to become a fence, and for Joseph’s clan to stand, the people of Israel had to become a fence, and for the people of Israel to stand, the whole nation of Israel had to become one and become a fence. That is, it means that with all this whole becoming one centering on one single center, Jesus had to carry on a new history of the gospel upon an inwardly and outwardly integrated foundation.

Although it ought to have been so, Jesus did not receive love from the family. We know that through not having that fence, he had to walk a sorrowful three-year course of public life.

The Mission Christianity Must Carry Out

Then what is God’s sorrow?

God toiled for four thousand years to send Jesus alone and establish one family, but that established family did not become a fence to uphold Jesus. To put it another way, though setting up that family was to have it protect Jesus alone, through that family coming to stand in a position divided from Jesus, Jesus could not but step forth alone on the road of hardship. This fact could not but become an indescribably shocking circumstance for God, who had come forth holding hope for four thousand years. We must know this.

Joseph’s family had been set up in such a position of hope before God, but that family failed in its responsibility. Joseph’s family was a family prepared upon the ground of four thousand years of history of the people of Israel and set up in a position standing in place of those people. To do so, God had to connect the relatives to Heaven’s side centering on that family. To connect those relatives, He had John the Baptist born. And thus, through him, He informed them in advance and prepared them that Jesus, that is, the Messiah, would come.

Though Joseph’s family, centering on such a bond, was in a position of having to absorb the clan, through failing in responsibility it came to be unable to absorb that clan. Through that, Jesus came to meet people-level adversity and national adversity and came to stand in a position of having lost the family and lost the clan and lost the people and lost the nation. And so we must at this hour think once again of the circumstances of Jesus, who could not but push back entirely the purpose he had to fulfill upon coming to this earth and bearing the cross.

What was it Jesus had to do upon coming to this earth?

He had to appoint Parents’ Day, and appoint Children’s Day, and appoint the Day of All Things, and appoint God’s Day. But there was not one person who understood that Jesus was one who had come holding such a tremendous historic mission. His beloved parents did not understand, and the twelve disciples who followed Jesus also came to stand in a position of not understanding.

In such a position, Jesus was amid anguish over how to complete alone the mission and responsibility commanded from God. Afterward, the course of advancing from the Garden of Gethsemane to the hill of Calvary was wretched and despairing beyond compare.

Even from such a position, to leave a new hope, Jesus said,

“I will come again, so wait for that day,”

and also left the promise,

“When I come again I will come equipped with the qualification of a bridegroom, so adorn yourselves as a bride to welcome that day, and await that time.”

We know that this is the final testament Jesus left as he came to and departed from this earth. Christianity, which came forth following that testament, has woven a wretched history. Because the first Israel could not stand before God’s Will, Christianity, which stood in the position of the second Israel, has come forth bearing responsibility for the world to build a worldwide foundation. We know that this is the history of Christianity.

Through Jesus’ coming to die, the history of Christianity, which ought to have been connected as a blessing, had to pay a price of blood. We know that otherwise one cannot develop from the individual to the family, from the family to the clan, from the clan to the people, from the people to the nation, from the nation to the world.

Because Jesus shed blood upon the cross, Christianity has connected the blood of martyrdom in place after place wherever it went and, thereby, made worldwide development.

Now Christianity has become a worldwide religion in name and in reality. What is the inner mission Christianity holds, that is, the single problem Christianity must be equipped with that God requires?

It is that one must adorn oneself as a bride. Of course, the whole world must adorn itself as a bride, but some particular nation and particular people and particular family and particular individual must adorn themselves as a bride before the bridegroom who comes. This is the mission Christianity must carry out to welcome the Lord who comes and the preparation it must be equipped with upon the earth.

The Providence for Establishing the Inner Tradition of Christianity

For that, God has developed Christianity while passing through a historical process of sorrow that no one at all knows. And thus, to make it possible to welcome the Last Days, to make it possible to welcome the day the Lord comes, He set up a particular nation and a particular body that believes in Christianity and carried on the history of adorning as a bride. We must know such a fact.

What must Korea inherit today to occupy the sphere of the third Israel? It is not that inheriting the outer tradition of Christianity is the problem; one must inherit the inner tradition of Christianity.

Then what is the inner tradition of Christianity?

It is inheriting the inner heart (심정) of that Jesus who was expelled by the people of Israel and died on the cross. If there be no true sons and daughters among this people who can be so, Korea cannot occupy the sphere of the third Israel.

That is why God, from the day He spread the hand of the providence of salvation centering on Korean Christianity, has developed an outer tradition by which this people could inherit the history of Christianity. At the same time, unknown to anyone, God set up countless individuals and countless bodies and had them make inner preparation to have this inner tradition inherited.

So God set up the Cheolsan Saejupa centered on the woman Kim Seong-do, the Bokjung Church faction centered on the woman Heo Ho-bin, and Pastor Lee Yong-do and others. He came forth preparing, centering on the year 1945 when liberation was welcomed, to welcome one of the Lord’s Second Advent. The facts that many bodies and individuals prepared for that day came out are things one comes to know only now, after history has passed.

At that time, it was a historical environment in which one could not guarantee who would uphold God’s Will and take responsibility for the final mission. Amid such circumstances of that time, countless spiritually gifted people came forth fighting while receiving persecution and refutation from all people, solely to bear the inner responsibility of Christianity. But when we look back now, it means the very individuals who fought so at that time all vanished away. Such a fight has continued down from a particular class of pastors through the class of elders even to the class of lay believers.

The particular pastors who shouldered responsibility at that time had to be connected with outer Christianity. And thus, if the inner spiritual work and outer Christianity had become one, from there a heavenly course would have departed by which one could develop toward the world, centering on the people and the nation. But when outer Christianity or the central pastors who were shouldering the inner responsibility all failed to discern and realize God’s Will and, failing to bear the mission entrusted to them in that age, rather came to receive misunderstanding and jealousy from the environment of that age, they doubted their mission. And thus, through their failing to carry out the responsibility God had entrusted, that responsibility fell down in their place to the level of elders or the level of deacons.

When we look back upon such grief of history, we can know the fact that now is a sphere of the age in which lay believers must attend God. We must know this. To put it another way, from an age in which one center centered on Christianity could integrate the whole and command the whole, it has gradually fallen to a position equipped with a plane form.

When we look at this centering on the outer world today, it means it is the same as the progression from a totalitarian national form to a democratic national form. That is why now it has come to enter within a sphere of the age that emphasizes faith centered on each individual.

That is why now we must connect the individual-centered worldview of the outer world and the individual-centered view of the heavenly kingdom in Christianity. And thus, one must again gather the individual, and gather the family, and gather the people, and gather the nation, and go on gathering the world.

Who is it that comes shouldering the responsibility and mission of all that?

It is the Lord at the Second Advent, and you must know that this is the mission of the Lord at the Second Advent.

When we look at the present age, whether inwardly or outwardly, it is an age centered on the individual that scatters entirely every nation and every people and every clan and every family. Also, it is an age in which, whether in outer living or in inner life of faith, one maintains the lifeline of one’s own life centering on one’s own individual self. So one must know that present democracy or the established churches cannot but cross beyond such an age.

Who is the person who can, centering on such an individual view of faith, achieve a new history that will remain for later generations? And what kind of band is such a band? It is a person who, from an individual position, holds a new view of the family, a new view of the clan, a new view of the people, a new view of the nation, a new worldview.

Furthermore, from such a position, a new religion that can lead the world cannot but appear. The One who comes to establish such a religion is the Lord at the Second Advent. You must know this.

In contrast to this, in the outer world there is no new view of the family, no new view of the clan, no new view of the people, no new view of the nation, no new worldview centered on the individual. The people who came holding such content representing humankind until now have all collapsed.

Now, from among the individuals who stand within the Christian sphere that has newly shouldered inner responsibility centering on God, a person must come out who can present to the world a new view of the family, a new view of the clan, a new view of the people, a new view of the nation, a new worldview a new view of the heavenly kingdom, and such a new Christian movement must unfold upon this earth. You must know the fact that through that one crosses over into a new age.

The Appearance of the Unification Church and the Road It Has Passed

Seen from this viewpoint, what kind of time is now as one crosses from the sixties into the seventies?

It is a time when God, through the individual view of faith of our Unification Church, faces an individual who stands upon the standard of completion. It is precisely the truth of the Unification Church that you follow today that presents the road one must go, shouldering the responsibility for completing, centering on such an individual, the family, and completing the clan, and completing the people, and completing the nation, and completing the world. You must know such a fact.

Such truth of the Unification Church is not a truth revealed through the course of the fight from 1960 to 1970 within the roughly twenty years of Unification Church history. This is a truth that was within God’s ideal of creation, which sought from before the creation to found a true family, a true clan, a true people, a true nation, a true world centering on the bond of True Parents. We must also know the fact that it is a truth holding a historic bond that includes even the ideal of God’s Providence of Restoration.

From this viewpoint, though our Unification Church was launched, was there afterward a day on which one could come forth raising a first flag by which one could newly depart? If there was, what kind of day was that day? What kind of day it was means it was “Parents' Day.” You must know this. But though Parents’ Day appeared upon this earth, this day is not within God’s sphere of direct dominion. It is a Parents’ Day within the sphere of indirect dominion, which must cross yet another stage.

To put it another way, because the human being fell at the completion level of the growth stage, even in setting Parents’ Day, it was not set within a sphere of completion beyond the growth sphere. It was set at that position of falling, the position of the completion level of the growth stage. You must know that that day is Parents’ Day, set in 1960.

From that day we have passed through a seven-year course. During that seven-year course period, we set Children’s Day and set the Day of All Things. Furthermore, after that seven-year course ended, we set God’s Day.

As you know through the Principle, on the day when the ancestors of humankind, Adam and Eve, without falling, would have received the Blessing centering on God’s love and become parents, God’s Day, Parents’ Day, the Day of All Things, and Children’s Day would have been settled and set out.

If it had become so, all these days would have converged into that one day, but because Adam and Eve fell and it could not become so, we have restored this over a period called the seven-year course. We must know that this having become so is itself the sorrow of this fallen world.

From that day in 1968 when we set God’s Day, our Unification Church has been going forth toward a new age. From then, the second seven-year course departed.

This year, 1970, is the third year of entering the second seven-year course. Now the age in which the Parents must take responsibility has passed. Centering on these three years, the children must consolidate the horizontal ground they must be responsible for and, through the third three-year course, become a complete deciding authority.

During the first three-year course period, we set up the 36 Families, 72 Families, and 124 Families centering on True Parents and built a worldwide horizontal foundation. Upon such a foundation, the families that depart on the second three-year course have a responsibility to build a complete horizontal foundation in place of these people. And yet you must know that this is an infinitely sorrowful fact: that a distance remains until completing that responsibility and mission.

You must have not only Parents’ Day set up as the Unification Church but also Parents' Day set up by yourselves, that is, Parents’ Day centered on your clan. Also, you must have Children’s Day centered on your clan and must have the Day of All Things centered on your clan and God’s Day centered on your clan. You must know that this is the responsibility of the Blessed Families of the unification family.

What kind of road was the first seven-year course?

It was a road of settling accounts, from an individual road of the cross to the family road of the cross. To put it another way, it means that in the process of the Providence of Restoration that passes through the formation level, growth level, and completion level, during that period one could not pass through the completion level.

So we are still within the sphere Satan governs. Through the ancestors of humankind falling, humankind came to be placed completely within Satan’s sphere. That is why we must, within this sphere, form a bond with the Parents and set up the standing of restored children and then again walk a pioneering course.

Here there are planted conditions of having to be accused in place of the past, and there remain conditions of having to be accused representing the present. It means that even though one indemnifies such conditions, unless one passes through a history of struggle and advances, one cannot set up the standard of completion and restore God’s nation.

You must know the fact that the first seven-year course was a road that the Teacher’s family went on, centering on the Teacher. This course is not a road gone, receiving anyone’s cooperation. It is a road on which no one at all must cooperate. Because that road was lost through the mistake of Adam, who is the parent of humankind, it is a road that only One who comes in the position of parent must go on, bearing responsibility. You must know this.

The Unification Church, Which Must Carry Out a Mission Like Judaism’s

Then in what position must Unification Church members be today?

They must fulfill a responsibility the same as Judaism’s before the nation of Israel. And thus, becoming one inside and out, one must become a defensive corps that guards against all satanic forces colliding in from outside. You must know that this is the mission of Unification Church members.

Then have the Blessed Families until now fulfilled such responsibility?

It means they have not fulfilled it. It means that far from bearing responsibility, they have passed through the historical course shouldering a compounded cross.

When we come to think of such things, Blessed Families must realize once again how important the responsibility they bear is and must feel and pledge the fact that they cannot but fulfill that responsibility.

And so, welcoming the second seven-year course, one must fulfill responsibility in place of these people while passing through the three-year course. That is, one must carry out a mission the same as that which Judaism had to carry out, centering on Jesus in place of the nation of Israel. Judaism at that time was the inner religion of the nation of Israel. This inner religion, Judaism, had to play a mediating role in making the nation of Israel one with the Messiah who was coming. Was that not the mission of Judaism in place of the people of Israel!

You must know that the religion that must bear responsibility from such a position today is the Unification Church. The Blessed Families are in a position like the kindred of Joseph’s family. And the Unification Church is in a position like Judaism, formed centering on the faction of Joseph’s family. Joseph’s family and its kindred and Judaism had to be in accord and set up the people of Israel as the sphere of the first Israel and settle that nation as one nation the Messiah could govern.

Was it not Judaism’s mission to take responsibility in between and complete this?

When we set out such a problem, you must know the fact that the Blessed Families blessed in the Unification Church today must stand in a position like Joseph’s clan and must bear responsibility in place of Judaism, which had to represent the sphere of Israel.

You must know the fact that, just as Jesus received trial and pain from the nation of Israel and Judaism, so today the Unification Church too cannot but receive trial and pain from the Republic of Korea and the established church.

Although we ought to have become one and crossed over the second seven-year course, we stood in a position of not having become one from the very departure. Reflecting upon our having stood in a position of not having become one, we must now end such an age.

Now we have come to welcome Parents’ Day of the year 1970, the third year within the second seven-year course. At this seat of having welcomed Parents’ Day today, we must look back upon the past and reflect once again upon our failure to fulfill responsibility.

Repenting once again of the fact that our Unification Church, which shoulders a Judaism-like responsibility of having to bear a mediating responsibility before Jesus in place of the people of Israel, has failed to fulfill responsibility, we must now, welcoming the 1970s, pioneer the family-level course of the cross. You must know that such a road remains open.

Our Responsibility and Mission in Welcoming the Seventies

The 1960s were a period of coming forth, fighting to take our place, centering on the Teacher’s family. Now we have welcomed the 1970s.

What kind of time is this?

This is a time of building one complete foundation for families to restore the clan and restore people. Therefore, you must know the fact that in these seventies, having welcomed the third year of the second seven-year course, whether we have fulfilled our responsibility or not, a heavenly fortune that can connect the nation and the world before God is coming to seek us.

How one connects this is our responsibility and mission in welcoming these seventies. How shall the Blessed Families and Unification Church members become one and connect the world with heavenly fortune? You must know that we are placed at a grave and important point of having to bear such a new historic mission. You must know that we ourselves must welcome Parents’ Day today from a position of inspiring such a mission and, before that mission, making an even further new resolve.

Today we must welcome Parents’ Day from such a position. In the past, because we were in a position where we could not present conditions of indemnity, Satan was in a position where he could persecute and mock to this day. But now, because we have welcomed the third year of the second seven-year course, we have come to enter a sphere in which Blessed Families can band together like iron and stone, centering on Heaven’s fortune and commencing a march for people-level restoration and world restoration. You must know that the time when you must bear the mission of such a new age is the seventies.

When we set these seventies before us, this year, 1970, is the most important. This year is a year of crossing over the three-year course within the second seven-year course and a year of finding people in the seven-year course, that is, a time when one can find one’s own ancestors, who walked the six-thousand-year course of history until now, and one’s own blood kin and cross over. It is a period in which, centering on the Parents’ family, a foundation on which one can find the ancestors comes about, and centering on the individual, a foundation on which one can find blood kin is built. That is why the year 1970 is a time when past and present and future can be connected and when one can welcome a ground of environment equipped inside and out.

In this year, 1970, it is in fact a time of connecting this. The Parents’ family and your families must become one, and also you must somehow connect your children and the children of the Parents’ family into one. You must know that this is your mission that must be done in 1970.

If one cannot connect this into one, the seven-year course comes to be extended.

When this seven-year course is extended, the problem unfolds that you must go for twenty-one years, three times seven.

If the seven-year course comes to be extended before us, who will take responsibility for the wretchedness that will appear hereafter before this people, this nation, this world through that?

It means the Blessed Families of our Unification Church must take responsibility. It means our denomination, which holds a mission like Judaism’s, must take responsibility.

Further, it means these people, who hold a mission like the people of Israel’s, must take responsibility. You must know the fact that such a grave and important point has drawn near before us.

In that sense, on Parents’ Day welcomed in this year, 1970, we must devote every sincerity inside and out. Denying our selves of the past, who were not equipped; we must be equipped with the sphere of Israel as a newly equipped figure of husband and wife, as a newly equipped figure of a family. Centering on a family-level authority rather than an individual authority. That is why one must be able to hold the conviction that one has oneself been equipped with family authority. Holding the conviction that one will be equipped with such family authority is the problem.

On that course of pursuing an authority of victory as an individual, Satan can accuse any amount. Because when a human being, who is a resultant being of the Fall, is in an individual process of restoration, it is a position in which a family-level standard has not yet been settled; Satan can accuse with the whole universe at stake.

That is why, if an individual does wrong, the individual comes to be accused, and through the individual’s having done wrong, the family too comes to perish.

Furthermore, the clan, people, and nation come to be caught up in this. It means all are forming relationships centering on the individual. Therefore, until now it has been a family for setting up the individual, a clan for setting up the individual, a people for setting up the individual, a nation for setting up the individual, a world for setting up the individual.

But now in the seventies it is a time for crossing beyond the individual and setting up the family. It means it is a time when the inner family must set up the outer family. You must know that the time when this must be settled is the seventies.

What Has Been Indemnified Centering on the Seven-Year Course

The time when the family was established is not an age centered on the individual. That Eve came to fall is that she faced not Adam but another partner in Adam’s place. This became the motive for the family's fall. Inferring from such a fact, it means that we today are not in an individual position but in a family position. You must know such a fact.

Your families stand in the position of the outer family, centering on one inner family. The outer family must become one with the inner family. It means one must become one inside and out.

The time when one must thus completely bind together inside and out is now, the year 1970, going through the three-year course within the second seven-year course.

Then what was done during the three years of the first seven-year course that has passed?

We blessed the 36 Families, and blessed the 72 Families and the 124 Families. What does that signify? Blessing the 36 Families and the 72 Families is the same as having found the lost sons and daughters, centering on a vertical position on the historical course of Restoration through Indemnity. Also, the 124 Families is the same as having found them in place of the nations of the world.

Through that, an inner standard was set up by which one can go toward the world.

But outwardly, a foothold that can connect with the world is not made. The Blessed Families until now must build the foothold. It means Blessed Families must build the foothold. Even though the inner standard is settled, it will not do unless the outer standard becomes one body with the inner standard. Subject and object cannot but become one and give and receive.

Then what kind of time is this age, welcoming the three years of the second seven-year course?

It is a period in which you yourselves can become ancestors, and a period in which you can achieve a clan. It is a period in which, centering on your faction that has already been blessed, one can cross beyond Satan’s sphere following Heaven’s command. You must know that the year 1970 is such an important age.

This was something one could not even dream of in Jesus’ time. Because Jesus died from an individual position, history until now has been a history that has passed through an individual course of trial. Though Jesus and the Holy Spirit have come forth, taking responsibility for inner problems, they could not stand in a central position in the outer environment. It means Jesus alone cannot stand upon a standard equipped inside and out. That is why he left the promise of the Second Advent and departed.

The Messiah is the One who comes as the bridegroom to complete that responsibility of having to be equipped inside and out. The Messiah who comes as a bridegroom must settle a family. In order for the Messiah to settle a family, the people who have come forth preparing for it must take part, and the clan must take part, and the families must take part. It comes to be placed in the same position as when the countless citizens of the nation of Israel were in a position of having to take part in such a situation.

If such history had departed, centering on our Unification Church today, when a person appeared who had taken responsibility for the mission of the Messiah, was it a form like the nation of Israel made before him? It was not made. Has a denomination like Judaism been made? It has not. Has a family like Joseph’s family been made? It has not. Because everything has not been made, there is no way but to receive persecution. That is why you must know the fact that in the age of the Second Advent a second road of suffering is waiting, barring the way like an iron fortress.

So what must the Lord at the Second Advent do upon coming to this earth?

Because Jesus came to this earth and was rejected nationally, and rejected denominationally, and rejected in the family, and rejected by relatives, the Lord at the Second Advent too must come to this earth and go such a road. You must know that having passed through such a road of destiny is the mortifying history of the Unification Church.

While we go forth shouldering such a historic mission, we must not vanish in the course of being persecuted from the outer world but must break through this difficulty and prepare the ground for the family to restore the lost individual.

If one were to restore and complete the individual, it would not be done without a family.

If one were to restore and complete the family, it would not do so without a clan. If one were to restore and complete the clan, it would not do so without a people, and if one were to restore and complete the people, it would not do so without a nation.

Jesus sought to connect the nation and people and clan and family and individual into one on a plane course and be in accord with them, but he could not. So for us to do this, we have passed through stages step by step and, laying out the process called the seven-year course, have fought until now. That is why our Unification Church carried on a fierce fight in the sixties. You must know such things.

One Must Establish Heaven’s Ground upon the Earth

Now what is it we must find?

Before finding you as individuals, one must find the family, and before finding the family, one must find the clan, and before finding the clan, one must find the people, and before finding the people, one must find the nation. To put it another way, it means one must find the nation of Israel.

Jesus is not one who came to this earth for Joseph’s family. He is one who came for the nation of Israel. He is one who came for the nation of Israel before being for the people of Israel. Once Jesus’ responsibility for this nation of Israel came to an end, he had to carry out responsibility for the world.

But through Jesus’ failing to carry out responsibility for the nation of Israel, the ground God had toiled and built for four thousand years for the sake of such a tremendous historic mission vanished without a trace.

So God had again to lead the providence while passing through a history of bloody struggle. And thus He came, leading two thousand years of history centering on Christianity. But Christianity did not form a sphere of Israel holding any sovereignty upon this earth. As a band without a nation, without holding even an inch of land on which to set foot, like a drifting cloud, it has passed through a tearful historical process.

We must know the fact that Christianity has pioneered until today while passing through an unavoidable road of destiny like the state of a grieved and mortified wayfarer.

What is Christianity’s han?

That it has not taken its place upon the earth is its han.

What is God’s han?

That He has not taken His place upon the earth is His han. You must know that that is God’s han. It is not that my one individual self taking its place upon this earth is the problem.

For my individual self to take its place upon the earth, the family must have taken its place, and for the family to take its place, the clan must have taken its place, and for the clan to take its place, the people must have taken their place, and for the people to take their place, the nation must have taken its place. For that, God established the nation of Israel and toiled for four thousand years. You must know this.

What did Jesus, who came shouldering such a historic mission, gaze upon? He gazed beyond Joseph’s family upon the nation of Israel. That is why all the trials and pains he ran up against in the family immediately remained as the trials and pains of the nation of Israel. The joy in that family appears immediately as the joy of Israel. Therefore, that individual’s joy and the joy in that family appear as the joy of the nation of Israel. But through the people and nation betraying him, all that fell to the ground. It means the nation’s joy too and the people’s joy too all fell to the ground.

You must know that it is the history of Christianity to come forth toward a second battlefront for finding Israel again, holding God’s heart (심정), which sought to gather and restore the grieved destiny of all people. And it is the mission of the Unification Church today to inherit this and advance toward a third battlefront and gather and restore this world. You must know this.

At the beginning of the year, the Teacher spoke to you the words “The Victorious Unified Front.” Those words were spoken to cultivate worldwide character, setting out your individual selves. That is, it was said in the sense that one must be equipped with a victorious unified front in a broad sense.

What must become a victorious unified front?

The family must. And that family must become a worldwide family. But there must be a clan in which the family can take its place, a people in which the clan can take its place, a nation in which the people can take their place.

The guiding ideology of our Unification Church is that before the nation rests, the family cannot rest; and before the nation rests, the unified clan cannot rest, and before the nation rests, the unified people cannot rest. Our grief is directly connected with the nation’s grief. Our family’s sorrow is directly connected with the nation’s sorrow. You must know this.

Then what is the road the Republic of Korea must go down?

Because the Republic of Korea is taking responsibility for the outer mission, it must struggle for economic revival. When this reaches a certain limit point, what must it do? It must bring forth the inner spiritual problem.

Our nation has been coming forth since last year, centering on the problem called the second economic development plan. But because if the spiritual field becomes deficient, one cannot inherit a new national spirit and cannot become a people that establishes a new tradition and fulfills a worldwide mission, thought is the problem more than anything. So hereafter one will come to enter an age that regards thought as important.

Then what must we do?

Unless one regards both inside and outside as important, one cannot become the subject of this nation. If the nation regards the outer problem as important, we must regard the inner problem as important. This is the work the Unification Church must do. That is why one must make a resolve beyond the resolve we made toward the Will in the 1960s. That was a time of going forth toward the course of indemnity centering on the individual.

Though the Teacher spoke to you about this before too, the Teacher goes one stage ahead of you. When you shoulder an individual cross and go, the Teacher must shoulder a family cross and go. That the Teacher must bear the family cross is because he is in a position equivalent to the standard at which Jesus and the Holy Spirit have not yet been equipped with the sphere of completion, resurrection; the standard at which Jesus and the Holy Spirit have not fully achieved the purpose of the Second Advent.

The time for completely establishing this standard of the history of the Second Advent upon the earth is from the year 1970. To put it another way, it means the time when one can find and establish the lost clan and indemnify everything that the ancestors of the past had to be responsible for, and everything we of the present age must be responsible for is now, having welcomed the third year of the second seven-year course. One begins from such a three-year foundation.

Why Must One Go to a Seven-Year Course?

Seen from this position, we must become one inside and out. We must become a body strongly bound together ideologically and spiritually. We must be stronger than anybody in the world. Our thought is not an individualistic thought. The thought our individual selves assert is a thought that can represent the whole, and what our family asserts is the same as asserting it represents the world.

What a people centered on such a family asserts, no people in the age hereafter will be able to assert. That assertion itself must become, as the first and the last, a complete standard. What must connect this is the year 1970, welcoming the three years of the second seven-year course. You must know this.

In this sense, you must now not welcome “Parents’ Day” from a habitual position as you have welcomed it until now. Until now it was a “Parents' Day” welcomed in the process of the Teacher’s family taking its place. It was a “Parents' Day” welcomed in the process of indemnifying all historical matters centering on the Teacher’s family.

Now one must welcome “Parents' Day” within a sphere of the age in which everything has been identified and inside and outside can become one. In this sense, you must know that this “Parents' Day” we have welcomed in the year 1970 is a historic “Parents’ Day.”

Then when we set ourselves out, when was there a seven-year course for you? The period from when the Teacher set up the seven-year course until he had gone through all the family-level seven-year courses is, for the Teacher, a twenty-one-year course. Because Adam and Eve fell at the completion level of the growth stage, up to the position of the completion level of the growth stage is not a course the family goes through but a course the individual must go through.

From the Teacher’s position, because he has already passed the first seven-year course and the second seven-year course that he had to go through as an individual, he must go through the third seven-year course toward the completion stage centering on the family. The believers of the Unification Church today must not forget the fact that it is a seven-year course established in this way.

The first seven-year course on which our Unification Church set out in the year 1960 was, when we set out the Teacher’s individual self, the third seven-year course.

Inferring from such a fact, when is your own seven-year course period?

No human being can help but go through this seven-year course. This is an absolute formula. Who must go to this seven-year course? The family must go through it.

Passing through this seven-year course, one must cross beyond the completion level of the growth stage and rise even to God’s sphere of direct dominion. This cannot be done alone. Through the human being’s falling at the completion level of the growth stage, God and the human being were divided from each other.

So one must cross beyond that standard and set up a condition in which parents and children and all things are rallied into one and are bound together centering on God. Because the Teacher has such a foundation, even though your families perish, the Teacher’s family does not perish. To put it another way, it means that the Teacher’s family, which stands within the sphere of completion, is at a standard where it can completely attend to God.

The day the Teacher entered the sphere of completion is a Parents’ Day anyone can welcome on a plane level, and a Children’s Day anyone can welcome, and a Day of All Things anyone can welcome, and a God’s Day anyone can welcome. So it means it is a day each individual can welcome. You must clearly know this.

Before there is a family-level seven-year course, there must be a seven-year course for you as an individual. Just as in the historical process there was a process of growth up to the completion level of the growth stage for achieving a family, it means there must be a prepared period. History has been woven centering on such a period.

The six thousand years of history until now is a period corresponding to God’s providential age of restoration for crossing over into a seven-thousand-year history. God finds one complete man passing through such a seven-thousand-year history. That is why one must go to a seven-year course.

But for fallen human beings, it cannot end with seven years alone. It means there must be a seven-year period of indemnifying and seven years of accomplishing. Do you understand what I mean?

To put it another way, it means there is a seven-year period of going back up to the standard before the Fall, and there must be a seven-year period of fighting from there and going to the position of completion. It means there remains a seven-year period for indemnifying and seven years for accomplishing.

When we set this out centering on you, because you are one stage below the Teacher, the second seven-year course corresponds for you to the first seven-year course for indemnifying, and for the Teacher it corresponds to a course for accomplishing. That is why in the second seven-year course one must settle it decisively, centering on the nation and win.

One Must Become a Family That Carries Out the Mission of a Tribal Messiah

Now the world situation too is fitting the providential ideal inside and out.

Therefore, one must make the final decision during the second seven-year course period. For the Teacher it is a seven-year course in which he can accomplish, and for you it is a seven-year course in which you can contribute before the Will. And thus, because the seven-year course in which one can become one inside and out is the third seven-year course, at that time we will make worldwide development. This is the view seen in terms of the Principle. Do you understand what I mean? “Yes.”

The Teacher has set the period in which this becomes so at twenty-one years. But for you a period of fourteen years remains hereafter. To welcome that fourteen-year period, there must first be a period called seven years.

Hereafter, when our Unification Church crosses beyond the third seven-year course, this world will come into a sphere of the age in which it can bow its head before God. Because you have passed the first seven-year course centering on the Teacher, this second seven-year course is a family-level period of indemnity. Do you understand what I mean? It means it is a time of bearing the cross at the family level. You must bear a family-level cross more difficult than anyone in history. It is not a time of bearing an individual cross. It means it is a time when one must bear a family-level cross.

You will not know well. During this period, you must carry out historic indemnity. You must indemnify what no one at all has been able to indemnify. This is something no one at all knows. Only one single responsible person knows it. The course of Restoration through Indemnity is not something one goes having been taught. Because one fell in the midst of not knowing, it is the course of Restoration through Indemnity that one must go while obeying even in the midst of not knowing.

We have until now done all we could. And so from 1968 a new age of hope opened. From then it is an age of gathering, centering on the family. That is why the Teacher told the 430 Families, “Fulfill the mission of a tribal messiah.”

You must carry out the mission of a tribal messiah. Because a time when you must carry out such a mission will certainly come hereafter, you must prepare to become families that can be so. For that, husband and wife must become one.

Furthermore, centering on one’s own sons and daughters, one must be equipped with a form of having restored the Four Position Foundation. And thus the outer son and the inner son must become completely one. It is enough if there be even one such family. What becomes of it? It means that if there be even one family that has achieved accord of heart (심정), the history of Restoration through Indemnity comes to be achieved.

Now you must go seeking the victorious ground the teacher has achieved. Now the fight on the first line is over. What remains now is local warfare like guerrilla warfare. The time when one must guard against the enemy’s remnant troops left in our rear attacking us is the second seven-year course.

In the first seven-year course, which was the first battlefront, it was a time when the whole of Satan attacked the Unification Church on all fronts. That is why all those close to you, such as your mother and father, were enemies. But now it means it is not so. It means the age of total war has passed and one has entered a sphere of partial warfare.

So you must hold the conviction that you have entered a sphere of victory and step forth holding a principled ideology by which one can set right the direction that has gone awry. Then the clan too submits. It means serving as their servant for three years or more. It means restoring the clan, shedding blood and sweat for three years or more, and devoting every loyalty. If one does so, the clan is restored.

If in the first seven-year course your families had fulfilled such responsibility, even in the state in which you now come out from home and live, the problem of each one’s eating and living would have been resolved.

If one faces God’s tremendous Will and carries out the mission of a pioneer who spreads that Will, that clan comes to uphold one.

If the relatives come to acknowledge that they have until now persecuted, far from sympathizing with, their son or their grandson or their own elder brother or nephew who carries out the mission of a pioneer, will not a road open in which all one’s compatriots cooperate? Because you must carry on such a movement, I commanded you to become tribal messiahs. But among you, how many are there who have borne such responsibility? This is the problem.

If you have not been responsible, it means, become one centering on the Teacher. If one becomes completely one with the Teacher, achieving this Will is a matter of time. It means it is a matter of time.

It means the tide of battle has already turned toward us and the sphere of victory is decided. Now only the problem of finally putting that in order remains on the course the Unification Church must go hereafter. You must know this.

The Inner Course of Suffering from 1960 to 1968

From 1968, it was a time of bearing a family-level cross and going. Six thousand years of history have come forth bearing the cross individually. But it means there remains a period of having to shoulder the cross at the family level.

Then who will bear that family-level cross?

Until now, no one at all has sought to bear that cross. Jesus too had to bear a cross in place of the people and nation and achieve a family and advance toward the world. But because he died shouldering the cross of the people and nation, one must re-indemnify. Through that, an individual road of the cross came to remain, and a family-level road of the cross came to remain. Because six thousand years of history have thus passed through a winding road, one must carry out two-sided indemnity. To achieve this, the Teacher walked the individual road of the cross until the sixties.

This fourteen-year course is a period the same as the fourteen-year course Jacob walked. Only by crossing beyond that period can one achieve a family and, centering on the Four Position Foundation of that family, take one’s place upon the earth and stretch out.

In going the individual road of the cross, even though someone sympathizes with oneself, one must absolutely not receive that sympathy. One must walk a course of indemnity in which one can neither sympathize nor receive sympathy.

The Teacher, having finished such an individual course of indemnity and been equipped with a ground for living as a family, from the sixties came to plunge into the family-level road of the cross. That is why the Teacher discontinued the work of directly guiding you. The Teacher preached the Sunday daytime service at this place until the summer of 1964. Then why did he stop it? It was because the inner problem was more pressing than the outer problem. Because the Teacher bears the mission of having to indemnify six thousand years of history, he came forth centering on the problem of how to indemnify the family-level cross rather than on you and the church. You must know such a fact. Passing through such a process, he appointed “Parents’ Day,” and appointed “Children’s Day,” and appointed “the Day of All Things,” and appointed God’s Day. You will not know the inner course of suffering from when the Teacher began in 1960 until he proclaimed God’s Day on the first day of the first month of 1968. You will never know it. You will not know what kind of process the Teacher has passed through until now while coming forth on this road.

The Teacher, confronting Satan, built one foundation on which he could cross over to the family-level stage. This is a world-historical victory. Only now has one entered a free age in which one can hold the whole under heaven under my command and go toward God. But for you who must go through the second seven-year course, a standard of having to bear a family-level cross remains.

So it means you must become one with the Teacher. It means to believe the Teacher and follow. It means trying to pass just three years, absolutely submitting. But you must know that if one cannot submit and cannot obey during this period, various complicated problems come to arise.

Because you have entered a road of family-level suffering, the Teacher told you to suffer hardship. It means, to suffer hardship. It means, is it not a blessing that you have crossed beyond the individual road of suffering and come to meet a family-level road of suffering? You must know that.

Return to Your Hometown to Find the Clan

You received the Blessing in the midst of knowing nothing and came to enter the sphere of the second seven-year course. This road is a course gone, shouldering a family-level cross. That is why it differs from the time when one lived alone as one pleased. When living alone, if there was nothing to eat, one could go hungry or fast for several days, and that was that; but when one has formed a family, such things do not get through. Environmental conditions without fail become a problem. It means inside and outside differ. You, too, will have felt this. Even though I say I go for the Will, one comes to be unable to go, centering only on the Will. It means my position changes. It means living with the family is the problem.

If the family develops, it becomes a people, and if the people develop, it becomes a nation. It means a road has opened in this way by which one can go seeking happiness.

What are our Blessed Families?

They are like a staff. What kind of staff? It means they are a bridge by which one can cross the worldwide world of death, and a staff that guides to such a road. It means the family is so.

Then where is it that you must now go out to witness?

It means it is the hometown. Return to the hometown, return to your hometown. You are in a more blessed position than the Teacher. The Teacher still cannot go to his hometown. Because the Teacher’s hometown is North Korea, he cannot go to his hometown before the nation is unified. It means one cannot cross the bridge. It means one cannot return to the hometown. But it means, can you not return to your hometown?

Can you not take hold of your beloved parents, wife, children, and brothers and shed tears and weep aloud?

It means, do you not hold an environment in which you can move them by shedding tears of weeping while taking hold of my parents and brothers from a position of being anxious for a people that cannot but eternally perish? But the Teacher has no such environment. Because it has become a land of North Korea to which one cannot go; however, one would…

When we think of the fact that you have come to go the second seven-year course, it is because God’s ground of victory, that is, a foundation on which you can go such a road, has been built. To put it another way, it means the first seven-year course became a foundation of victory. It is enough if you graft yourselves onto that traditional foundation. It means one must graft oneself onto the Teacher. And thus, you must indemnify what the forebears did wrong until now. It means one must indemnify what was done wrong in the Kim clan if one is a Kim. You must carry out such a mission. During the second seven-year course period, it means contacting your father and mother.

When we set out with Jesus, this period is a period in which one can find Jesus’ clan. It means it is a period within a sphere in which Jesus’ clan welcomes Jesus, and Judaism and the nation of Israel welcome Jesus. It means that what is in such a position in Korea is the Unification Church today. This is a tremendous fact. So it means you too become one with the center.

The Fortune of the Seventies Seen from a Providential Viewpoint

You must become one with the center and go through the second seven-year course gratefully. This course is a road of the cross that one must lead the family along and cross over. That is why we blessed the 36 Families, 72 Families, and 124 Families. Though the Teacher set up three families as a condition and came forth centering on them, it does not end with that. It is likewise the same with you.

If you carry out clan restoration, there are naturally three families, and naturally twelve families too, and naturally 36 Families and 72 Families too, and naturally 124 Families too. That is why one must carry out clan restoration. You must know that such a mission remains for you.

The road of carrying out clan restoration is the road that goes to Heaven, and through carrying out clan restoration, a road opens by which one can go to the world. Through making effort for that, asleep or awake, a new nation is established, and there comes to be a nation that can attend to one with glory, and there comes to be a nation that can praise one’s own toil until now.

When one thinks of this, the question is how one will cross the trial the family must cross, whether asleep or awake or eating. It means eating and living are not the problem. How does one complete the task entrusted to me? This is the problem.

If you pass this three-year course and make a horizontal departure centering on the Teacher, it becomes the same as when the Teacher departed on the world course. Because your families have entered an age in which one can welcome such a time, it means a heavenly fortune by which one can stretch out to the world draws near before us. That is why the Unification Church will develop infinitely after the year 1970.

Until now, to develop the Unification Church, we came out from home and witnessed to other people, but at that time it was not that. It means returning home. It means returning home and finding the lost Israel. It means finding your own lost place. How much effort have you made for that, facing your parents, or facing your relatives? Until now, there remained a standard of the cross of being opposed at the family level. That is why the more effort you made to restore them, the more you ran up against trials. But it means such an age has passed. Now is a time of going to the clan nationwide and witnessing it.

When the Teacher blessed the 36 Families, I found and established people who were not my blood kin, unable to sleep at night. To tell this to these people is a sorrowful fact. But now you have come to hold the authority to form such a bond of the Blessing together with your blood kin. How blessed a thing is this!

You must carry out the tremendous mission of having to restore the whole clan. If you restore the whole clan, the people are automatically restored. You must know that such a mission remains before us.

This year, 1970, is the third year the Teacher’s family welcomes after breaking through and passing beyond the course of persecution. Furthermore, it is a three-year course period in which you can identify the horizontal foundation. So from now on, we must unite completely as one and stretch out to the nation and the world.

If one goes on being equipped with such a direction, the fortune of the world turns toward the unification family. It means the heavenly fortune comes to draw near toward the Unification Church. You must know that this is the present position of the year 1970, seen from a providential viewpoint.

In that sense, the Parents’ Day we welcome today differs from the days welcomed in the past. It is not a Parents’ Day of an isolated position welcomed without any thought. Knowing that it is the Parents’ Day of the year 1970, which must be welcomed as a family-level Parents’ Day with the family joining both hands and attending with utmost sincerity, you must from now on rally together. With a family-level bond, one must prepare a horizontal foundation throughout the whole world and present a condition of indemnity.

That is why the Teacher, last year during the period of the second seven-year course, blessed 43 Families, a reduction of the 430 Families, while touring the world. What that means is that the nations of the world were connected with the 430 Families. In this way, we did the work of connecting the world.

Now, centering on such lineages, one must carry out a worldwide Blessing. Hereafter, there will be a new feast of the Blessing for establishing the family-level tradition of the unification family, and those families will be about seven hundred families. In that way one crosses back and forth across national borders.

Until now, because the tradition of the family was not established, God went about seeking, but now human beings must come seeking. It means the tradition has been established. In that sense, in the seventies there remained a mission of having to drive and rally the worldwide fortune of the family. That is why we are preparing to bless seven hundred couples of families because of seven nations. You must know this.

The Road the Unification Church Must Go

You who stand at such a point must know what kind of time this is today. Now the road the Unification Church must go has opened. Even so, one cannot go by the Unification Church itself alone. When we look at Cain and Abel, Cain alone cannot go before God, and Abel alone cannot go before God either. To restore the Parents, Cain and Abel must become one and take hold of both hands of the Parents and go.

For us to establish the Father’s nation upon this earth, there must be the Father’s denomination standing in place of the Father’s nation.

If the whole people of Israel had become one before Jesus, who was to find the nation of Israel, the people of Israel would have communicated with God; but because they did not become one, they could not communicate with God.

Therefore, Jesus and the people of Israel had to become one. In a figure of having become one, they had to be equipped with the form of Cain and Abel. In Korea today, the Unification Church and the established church are placed in such a position.

Though the Teacher spoke of it yesterday, Sunday, too, the road we must go, the inevitable road we must go, differs from the road the people of the world go. The people of the world go the road Satan goes, that is, a road only for themselves. For them, studying is also done for themselves, and rising in the world is also done for their family. It means it is not for their nation.

The road we must go is two roads. What kind of road is that? It is a road gone for Cain and for oneself. One must pass through even the road for the enemy. What does that mean? It means one must gather Cain and go. What is the foundation of substance? Even though Abel has built his own road, without completely making Cain submit, he cannot go before God. To put it another way, one must lead the enemy along. It is not going while fighting the enemy; one must lead the enemy along.

By what can one know that the time has come when one must lead the enemy along? That is, by what does one know that God’s time has come? One can know it by seeing that the enemy has all come to enter a sphere of fortune of perishing.

When environmental conditions are formed that deny everything the enemy wishes for, one can know that Abel’s age is coming to this earth.

When we look at the outer world, in this world the notion of the nation has vanished without a trace, and the notion of the people has all disappeared, and the notion of the family has all disappeared. All people are bound to individualism. Those words mean they are in a position like the archangel just before the Fall. Through such people, one cannot find a nation. One cannot find a people either. One cannot find a nation either. Most of the advanced nations today are running up against a despairing state. But there is one single road by which one can break out of such a despairing state. It is the road of meeting that One who comes as one man holding the form of one family, that is, the One who comes from the position of an Abel-type individual holding the thought of an Abel-type family. That One is precisely the Messiah.

That One comes to establish a new religion holding a new ideology that has not been upon the earth until now and to achieve a new family. That is why you must know that what has come forth, achieving an authority by which substantial restoration is possible, is the historical process until now.

The church too was so, and the family too was so, and the world too was so. What does this say? It means one has come to enter a sphere of the age in which Cain completely submits before Abel and the fruit of history can be borne. On the day when one true One appears upon this earth holding worldwide content that can stand in place of a true individual, a true family, a true clan, a true people, a true nation, or a true world, that is, that can stand in place of the true, the outer world comes to be automatically subdued before that One.

Only when in this way Cain and Abel are restored and become one is a nation centered on God at last restored. That is, a heavenly kingdom centered on the Parents is achieved. This is the road Abel must go. But Abel alone cannot go. One must, without fail, take Cain along.

From this viewpoint, it means our Unification Church too must take the established church along. It means enemy and enemy must meet and become one. Through Joseph’s meeting his eleven brothers and becoming one, he could attend to his parents. That showed just as it is the thought of the Second Advent that must be achieved in the Last Days.

Our Unification Church today is in the same position as Joseph of Jacob’s family. Joseph’s elder brothers sold him off. So he went to Potiphar’s house and served as a slave and then came to be in the plight of entering prison. But even in such a position, God protected him. He provided for Joseph, who was resolved to die for the people, in the position of prime minister of that nation and entrusted the sovereignty of that nation to him.

In that way, after Joseph became prime minister of Egypt, the eleven brothers were restored, and on such grounds, he at last came to attend to his parents. Was this not a fact that demonstrably showed the whole circumstance of the historical age?

Then in what position is our Unification Church today?

It means it is placed in a destiny like Joseph’s. Countless denominations all sought to sell off the Unification Church. Furthermore, not stopping at the degree of selling us off, they sought to bury us in a waterless desert. They wished us to die and wished us to be eaten by wolves and jackals. But we did not die. Who would have known that we would not die and would become like this! When those who drove us out come to meet the misfortune of their parents and their whole household perishing, God will open a road of revival for them. Is this not the present democratic world and established church, which are in such a position?

The Work We Must Do

What is it we must know today?

It means do not model yourselves upon any nation holding a new thought. You must know that. It means do not envy or model yourselves upon America or American churches. That is why the Teacher does not hold the thought of going to live in America. To save America hereafter, one must not be stained by America. It means do not be stained by any liberalist thought whatever. It means do not be stained by Japan or any nation whatever. Rather, they must be stained through us. They are people who have lost subjecthood. It means the present time is so. It means the world is such a world.

We must be equipped with a form of an Abel-type individual, family, clan, people, and nation before such a world. If one comes to be equipped with such a world, the time of the end will draw near to this world. It means it is undoubtedly so.

Just as Christianity has made a Christian sphere in the outer world, so in the Republic of Korea the Unification Church has also made, through outer activity, even a standard by which it can bind together with the nation.

Then what is it that becomes a problem now?

First, Christianity and the world becoming one is the problem, and next, the Unification Church and Christianity becoming one is the problem. Within the nation, the Unification Church and the established church becoming one is the problem, and in the world, the Unification Church and world Christianity becoming one is the problem. It means that now they are sharply divided inside and out.

Here, the work we must do is to make inside and outside become one at the family level. Such a time has come. Here we must rally completely as one and go forth. For that, the established church must cooperate. This is the road they must go. It means a time when that can be has come.

Next, it means becoming a model individually and at the family level. And love the nation with a thoroughgoing character; it means love the nation more than you love the Unification Church.

Further, it means loving the world more than the Republic of Korea. In that sense, from the year 1970, we will without fail have people of three or more nations take part when we hold events. It will naturally become so. A time when that can be has come. That is why today too, representatives of three nations have gathered like this by chance. Including Korea, it is four nations. Hereafter, such a day will come to be celebrated worldwide.

What does this signify?

It means the time has come when the Will of the providence will appear before this world. So now we must unite. We must unite for victory, not defeat. This is how the words “The Victorious Unified Front” came out. What is its center? It is the family. Therefore, families must become one. That is why we established the 430 Families.

Since the 36 Families, 72 Families, and 124 Families failed in responsibility, let the 430 Families do what they failed to be responsible for. That is why we established the 430 Families. And thus, it means giving a stimulus to the senior families. It means letting the 124 Families, 72 Families, and 36 Families receive a stimulus upon seeing these. It means resembling the 430 Families in that way. Will you resemble them? Will you not? “We will resemble them.” Then I must make you suffer hardship.

The Teacher has spoken to you today of how important the integration of the family is and how busy an age the present age is. Now, if families join and cross beyond the third seven-year course hereafter, the world will come to submit before us. While thinking of how one crossed the three-year course of the first seven-year course, you must go out to witness for three years until the year 1972, centering solely on that standard of having become one with the Teacher’s family. Though I do not know whether you would say such a thing, it means the position differs from that time. Do you understand what I mean? “Yes.”

The inner and outer families must become one and go on a three-year course. Just as there was a three-year period of an offering course as a condition of indemnity for individual victory, one must go through such a three-year course at the family level. It means let your families and the Teacher’s family become one body and endure three years until the year 1972 in a position like one body inside and out. And thus, it means let us save this nation and this people and the world.

What the Teacher has said will undoubtedly turn out right. How happy is the fact that we have entered within such a sphere of the age! This is a dreamlike talk. This is a dreamlike talk to your thinking, but the fact is such.

When the inner and outer families thus become one and we and the established church become one, the Republic of Korea is easily restored. Now is our nation’s second period of economic growth, and if one is completely combined ideologically, economic growth too is no problem.

Furthermore, if a six hundred thousand-strong army and two million five hundred thousand homeland reserve forces are armed with unification thought, Kim Il Sung is no problem. It means he is not even a problem. When it becomes so, the Unification Church, which is in an Abel-type position, and the established church, which is in a Cain-type position, become one and achieve an inner foundation and become one with the nation, which is in an outer position.

Furthermore, the Republic of Korea becomes the position of the inner nation, and North Korea becomes the position of the outer nation. That is why it means the problem is from now on.

The first unification is our becoming one with the established church, and the second unification is the unified Christian sphere becoming one with the Republic of Korea, and the third unification is South Korea and North Korea becoming one. If only this were achieved, the world would be drawn in to us.

This road is the road we must go on from now on. It means it is the road remaining before our families. Though until now we have faced these people, presently we have entered an age in which we can go forth facing the world. It is enough if one only carries out the operation well.

In preparation for that, the Teacher has unfolded operations inside and out and driven them forward. Undoubtedly, this world will fall away. It is made so that it falls away. Do you understand what I mean? “Yes.”

Go the Road of Being for Cain to the End

For whom do you exist?

It is not for yourselves. For whom, you say? “For Cain.” It is for Cain. It means we exist for those people who wished us to perish, for the enemies. In the enemy’s world, who was Joseph? He was for the eleven brothers who sought to kill him. Because losing brothers in this enemy world is neither humankind’s Will nor God’s Will, we must find them again. So it means let the Unification Church shed tears and pray for the established church. It means devoting sincerity to them. Do you understand? “Yes.”

From 1968, a new fortune will come around to Christianity. It means our age comes. One newly risen denomination will appear equipped with a religious form, and there the hand of grace will be full. It means it is so at present. How does one connect this rapidly to established Christianity? For this, the Teacher has come forth, carrying out operations until now in the midst of your not knowing. It means it has entered a sphere in which this is possible.

When we set out the problem of how to set the Republic of Korea before the Will, we are not unfortunate. If the Cain and Abel denominations had been Christianity and Buddhism, what would it have been? How hard would it be?

If Christianity and Buddhism had been tied to the problem of restoration in the positions of Cain and Abel, how mortifying would it be, and how hard would it be? Would that be easy or difficult? “It would be difficult.” Having come to know all such things, it means all of this was God’s love. It means the established church and the Unification Church are one brotherhood. When we think of such things, it means the fact that the Unification Church has walked a road of suffering is not something mortifying. You must know that God’s love is dwelling in it.

Though the established church, by raising the banner of revolt before God in the process of restoration, came to stand in a position of siding with Satan, in the end Satan too cannot but stand in a position of cooperating with God’s Will. Hereafter, the established church must bring this work to completion. From this viewpoint, the Unification Church must hereafter achieve economic revival. By whatever means it must be so. Now it looks hopeless, does it not? But it means just try crossing the three-year pass. It means just try crossing the three-year pass while all families die if the Teacher says “die” and live if he says “live.” It means that if one only crosses three years, one will know whether the Teacher’s words are right or not. It means, see then whether the Teacher told a lie or whether our Principle is wrong or right.

Now, in your becoming one, will you become one only above the body or become one only below? Will you become one entirely, or become one leaving something out? “We will become one entirely.” For that, one must become one in a harsh position. It means becoming one in a position where life and death can cross. So it means that if the center collapses, collapse together. Mind and body must become completely the same position.

If it becomes so, even at that moment when mind and body have both collapsed and one cannot but despair, one can receive a new stimulus and rise again. What kind of day is that day? It is a day on which every hope arises inside and out.

The other day I heard from a certain regional leader that while leading the life of a regional leader, he had moved seventeen times. Having moved as many as seventeen times, it means now when he comes to move, he thinks he is moving again. In doing so, his clothes came to be full of holes to the limit, so that he had reached such a wretched state that he could not lift his face and step forth.

Is that good or not good?

Even so, it means do not die. It means, though one collapses, do not die. If one dies, that is the end. It means, though one collapses, do not resent. One must collapse, saying, “O God, let me sleep in peace.” But it is not that I say to die.

It was when Jacob was in such difficult circumstances that the heavenly messengers went up and down; do you think the heavenly messengers went up and down when he was in a position of high spirits and overflowing hope? When he had reached the point of death… How forlorn was the plight of sleeping with a stone for a pillow, having nowhere to go! If it were you, you would say, “Blessing or whatever, why did I do that?” And then one thinks of becoming a spirit of the Unification Church.

Let Us Make a Parents’ Day That All Household Members Celebrate with the Same Mind

When one thinks that at a position where one collapses both inwardly and outwardly, at such a position a new departure at last comes about, it means our time has truly drawn near. It means you know that.

If I speak like this, a person who has come to the Unification Church for the first time will say, “It would be good to follow this person called Teacher Moon of the Unification Church, but aigo! There is a thick air of fraud about him.” Such a person has judged wrongly.

In the old days, individuals followed the Will, but from now on families must become one and follow. If perhaps the Teacher’s family comes to go hungry, your families must earn and feed the Teacher’s family even though you go hungry. Will you do so? Will you not? “We will do so.” Will you earn it and bring it, or not? “We will earn it and bring it.” Then that is settled. It is not that your family going hungry is the problem. It means one must earn and feed the Teacher’s family. And while doing so, one must resolve the han and go. So can you die? If you come to die, the Teacher’s family starves to death…

It means it is made so. That is why one must think that though my dying alone would be all right, it must not be so. Then it means one cannot die. Not only that, it means my nation disappears and my world disappears. That is why it means let us become one with the Teacher and go forth for three years hereafter. Do you understand? “Yes.” Then what shall we do from now on? It means one must make the families unable to live for three years. It means one must make the families unable to live.

During these three years we must welcome “Parents’ Day” as the highest day. All of you, then, are you spending Parents’ Day of the year 1970 in the highest way, or in the lowest way? Think about it. Is it the highest or the lowest? “It is the highest.” You say you are spending it in the highest way? All of you, how are you spending it now? How are you spending it? Is it the highest or the lowest? “It is the lowest.” It means it is so. Now that we have known this, it means, at the Parents’ Day of the coming second year, let us slaughter about seven oxen. Do you understand? “Yes.” It means let us slaughter one in each of the eight provinces.

All of you, think about it. When you come up here from each district, the members will be smacking their lips and complaining, saying, “The district leader is going to celebrate Parents’ Day. I, too, would like to see it once, but since only the district leaders go and come back, what relation does Parents’ Day have with us!” If it becomes so, how pitiful are they? That is why it means slaughtering one ox in each district and holding a feast celebrating this day. Is that not a thing worth doing?

So it means, at next year’s Parents’ Day, let us slaughter one ox each. And so one must bring one front leg and one hind leg. Then since it is eight provinces, it comes to four oxen. Is that not so? It means let us hold a feast once we've settled on those four oxen. It is not that the Teacher wishes to eat, but it seems it would be good to do so.

To your thinking, it may seem that on a day like Parents’ Day the Teacher spends it quite comfortably, but I have not even eaten breakfast yet. Since I am doing this without even eating breakfast, it means Parents’ Day is a day of hard labor. Since until now it has been hard labor, presently it must become a comfortable day.

Go Out to Your Assigned Place to Find Heaven’s Family

From this viewpoint, the three-year course is important. For three years one must make the families suffer hardship. Do you understand? “Yes.” One must become one centering on the family. The Teacher is trying to save the family. When the Teacher says Let us die,” for what is it that he says, “Let us die”? Does he say, "Let us die for the individual”? “No.” One must be for the church rather than being an individual.

Then among you there may be people who think, “Rather than the Teacher doing something centering on the 36 Families, it would be good if he built a church since there is no church in our district; the Teacher’s saying he is for the Will is nonsense.” But he is a person who does not know well. Such a person is a person who seeks to be for himself. One must be for the family rather than for one’s own individual self. Unless one lives for the family, the clan does not come out. It means that if the family does not become one, the clan does not come out. That is why the Teacher regards the family as more precious than the church. You must know such an intention of the Teacher’s. That is why I tell you to witness. Will you witness it or not? “We will.” Will you? “Yes.”

Then it means that to build apartments, I will haul and give you cement and gravel and sand so you mold bricks and build them all. Can you build them? “Yes.” It means you say it is all right even if I take all 430 Families to the labor site and work them as though putting them to forced labor? “Yes.” Must it not be so? It means that if you do so, seven hundred families must build your houses. What else? It means that if it becomes so, the several thousand families who come to be blessed after that will also do so again. Then it means the houses in which the people of the Republic of Korea will live must be built by people of other nations. This is our road to live. (Laughter) (Applause)

Having lived practically tightening the belt, the families are just now about to take their place and live, but it means I must work them again. But it means it cannot be helped. Otherwise, one perishes. This is the Teacher’s method and, at the same time, God’s method.

Bearing the cross means bearing it for another person. The family’s cross is borne for the clan, and borne for the people, and borne for the nation. In the past there was no one who bore such a cross. That Jesus bore the cross was not that he bore it for the nation. He bore it for the individual. For the individual…

That is why until now there was no heavenly family and no heavenly nation. What he bore was a cross for the individual, but you must bear the family’s cross. Only then does one come to bear a victorious cross for the clan and come to bear a victorious cross for the people, and only then is a foundation built on which one can bear a victorious cross for the nation and the world. It means such a tremendous mission has been entrusted to you. How will one bear this out? It means let us walk this road resolved upon a road of suffering and a position of blood. This is the road we must go on.

Because such a time came, passing through 1969 and crossing over into the year 1970, I mobilized the families and told them to cross beyond the family and go the road Jesus went. That is why I did so. What skill would the Teacher have to do such work? Having come to know it means it is made so. Do you understand? “Yes.”

Then did you move well or not move well? “We moved well.” A person who moved well will come to be commemorated by history. It means that, welcoming such a time, through our unification family’s receiving God’s command and stepping forth resolved upon a road of death that no one desires, the Republic of Korea has come to welcome a new spring day in which it can live again. No one at all would have known that in our going out to the provinces for forty days and pioneering there was such inner content. Since until now the mothers and the sons and daughters went out and mother and child cooperated and built the foundation, the rest must follow. Do you understand? “Yes.”

The Teacher in the sixties sent the families out and pioneered this land, this nation, this people. Now we do this again. So it means go again to that land to which you devoted sincerity at that time.

Just as God’s history began upon the ground to which Israel devoted sincerity, so Jesus’ history of the Second Advent too begins upon a ground to which sincerity has been devoted. This is Heaven’s tradition. Because it is likewise the same in our unification family, it means going again to the place to which you went out and devoted sincerity in the sixties. One must go again and restore. Those tears one sheds for that district, that village, must not become vain. What was sown with tears of sorrow must be harvested with tears of joy. Otherwise, one cannot save the nation.

You have, meanwhile, walked an individual course of indemnity while passing through a road of pain and suffering. Now, having passed through the course of indemnity, one must come seeking a new family. Then, because a ground of delight is built in that village, that neighborhood, on which one can welcome a new messiah’s family, that village will undoubtedly be restored.

That is why the Teacher is driving you out, centering on the three-year course. Knowing that we are placed in such a destiny, this hour must become an hour in which you, from a position of shouldering such responsibility, resolve on the occasion of this Parents’ Day today that you will endure and go forth on the three-year course. Though we could not welcome this Parents’ Day today as a joyful and grateful day, and this place could not become a place that heaven and earth watch over proudly, I hope that you, knowing that by making such a resolve you can make this place shine, will resolve anew. Do you understand? “Yes.” I hope it becomes so, and let those who say they will do so raise both hands and pledge.
