Today is the ninth Parents’ Day we greet.
When one considers centered on the family, there will be a day that celebrates the day the parents of that family married, and, if a child is born, there will be a day that celebrates that child’s birthday. And there will also be a day of celebration when that child grows up and comes to marry.
And, seen nationally, there are cases where, when a nation that had been under the oppression of another nation gains independence, that day is set as a day of national celebration. Thus, there are many days of celebration.
The Providential Day of Celebration
But all such days are, seen from the providential side, days that have no relation whatever to God.
However, all the people of the world stay up through the night praising and celebrating such days, because those days are days molded in the fallen human world; they are not days needed for God in setting up the providence of Restoration and the Will. That is why such days must, in any case, all pass away.
The people who lived through one age and passed away in the historical course, and the people living in the present world too, will have unforgettable days they celebrated and loved in their own fashion. But, seen centered on God’s providential Will through the past and the present world, the days people celebrate worldly-wise have no relation to God. Therefore, such days in any case vanish from this globe.
We must know the fact that when the people who lived so in the historical course go to the spirit world, according to the standard they celebrated, it becomes a condition of sorrow.
Today, upon the earth, there may be people who boast, “I have had a day I can boast of worldwide.” But you must know the fact that when the day comes hereafter on which one can, centered on God, celebrate worldwide, what that person celebrated becomes rather no more than a shameful condition.
Then what sort of day is the day of celebration people most commonly wish for? It is, needless to say, the day one was born. Then what day comes next? It is the day one held the wedding ceremony. And then next? Is it the day one passes away? The day I was born is the most important, and next is the day I greet my object partner, and next is the day I bear sons and daughters.
However much a day to celebrate there may be in the world, a day of celebration that departs from this principle may become a relative relation, but is not a day of celebration that can occupy the place of direct heart.
What do these three important days signify?
The first hope of fallen humankind is the perfection of individuality—that is, because the individual fell, to be born anew centered on one resurrected individual self. The second hope is the perfection of the object partner, that the born self itself receives the Blessing. The third is to multiply the children of good.
Then what sort of person is an unhappy person?
It is not that one is unhappy because one could not attend some feast day of one’s own village, nor unhappy because one does not have a national celebration day of that nation, or does one have a worldwide celebration day.
However good a day may be, it cannot compare with a day directly good to oneself. The days directly good are the day one was born on this earth, the day one determines one’s object partner, and the day a new child is born between husband and wife. Therefore, a person who does not have such days is unhappy.
If the human being is thus, how would it be with God?
It is the same with God. Then a question will arise: does God too have a day of being born, a day of marrying, and a day of bearing sons and daughters?
The First Start of the Planar Kingdom of Heaven, the Substantial Kingdom of Heaven
The day God is most glad is the day Adam was born. This is because this day is the first day of setting out as the God of the substantial world. That is, the substantial first start by which He could be born as the value of the cosmic God begins from Adam.
Had Adam not been, the value of God would not be. There may be an inherent value, but there would be no relative value. That is, in meeting the desired goal toward some purpose, its actual value is determined according to the relative position.
So the day God was most glad—to say it again, the day He was more glad than the day He made all things—was the day He set Adam within this Heaven and earth. Next is the day Adam marries.
When Adam marries, why would God be glad?
Because Adam’s wedding ceremony, seen by the heavenly Will, becomes God’s wedding ceremony.
Next, I said, is the day of bearing sons and daughters, did I not?
Likewise, Adam’s sons and daughters become precisely God’s sons and daughters. Here at last the center that constructs front and back, left and right—that is, the planar Kingdom of Heaven—is set up.
What becomes the first start in constructing the planar Kingdom of Heaven, the substantial Kingdom of Heaven, is Adam’s sons and daughters.
Because the day God is most glad is the day Adam was born, this day must be celebrated. But who has celebrated the day Adam was born?
Or has God ever proclaimed, “People, the day my son Adam was born is such-and-such a month and day!”? No. He bore Adam indeed, but does not know on what day He bore him.
Next, the day God could like is the day Adam holds his feast.
But did Adam hold a feast?
He did hold a feast, but that feast was a feast the enemy stole and held. And so God did not greet a glad day. God, in this bright Heaven and earth, could not greet a glad day and lost it all. In the end, God did not have a glad day.
God, Who Must Resolve His Sorrow
In what could God, who did not have a glad day, be glad?
Ordinary Christians who do not even know such content think, “The God of glory sits on His high throne, so when He commands, all under Heaven moves, and beyond that…,” but this is wrongly known.
Since it is thus, is God glad or sorrowful?
That God is boundlessly sorrowful. He is a God who must resolve that sorrow.
Who would like a God who has not resolved His sorrow?
Moreover, if such were the case in the world, there would be no one to like it. But if it is one’s own offspring, one tries to like it even if one dislikes it, and if it is not one’s own offspring, one tries not to like it.
Today, such a Heaven and earth is unfolding.
There is not one person who set out from that day on whom God could be glad of. That is why humankind today cannot budge before the fact that they are descendants of fallen Adam and Eve.
What glad day could there be for people born without having a day of gladness?
However, people dream and sing of happiness and say it is thus and so; that is wholly the course of a sorrowful life. In the end, they fall into a place of self-lamentation (自嘆).
In such a place, one absolutely cannot have the three-dimensional world of Heaven—that is, the substantial world in which, forming a relationship with the Cosmos, the world of the heart can, together with Heaven and earth, be stirred and be glad. That is why it says this world must pass. It says to sweep away such days.
And so, in the world of religion, one denies for now one’s own individual, family, nation, and world. Must one live, leaving that longed-for world as it is and merely long for it from where one stands?
To seek Heaven, one must turn back and seek the road of Restoration. Then would one not be able to greet one day on which God is glad?
On the day God likes, will the people of Israel be only sleeping? It is set to be, “People, awake! People, speak! People, dance!” If there were God’s sons and daughters and people, could He, setting up those sons and daughters and people, be glad, laughing alone?
When it is glad, all must be glad together. Even the little flies flitting about must keep the beat together for it to be glad. If a day that can be so came to the land of Korea, would it be a day that only this land of Korea should be glad about?
Everyone would wish it to become a Kingdom of Heaven where one could come and go about the globe even thousands of times a day. Though one wishes such a day to come once to this globe, one has not yet had a day that can be so.
However, one wishes to see it and have it; if that day does not appear, one cannot have it and cannot see it. That is why the human being wishes for the coming of that day of a free Kingdom of Heaven in which one can sing of equality, peace, and happiness. It is that one wishes that day and that nation to appear.
The True State of History and the Content of the Providence
Human history is a succession of the gladness of celebrating the day of being born, but to that gladness, love ought to have been added.
Over the parents there is laid one layer of the wrapping-cloth (褓) of love, by which they cannot but love the child. And there is also the mind that, as the child grows, says, “Grow quickly, quickly,” wishing, as if the child would grow up fully even in a single day and from the next day attend the father and mother about.
But in the world, there are people called the only son of five generations or the only son of so many generations, and a woman who marries into a household where a widowed mother raised such a son, however splendid her nature, does not receive affection. Rather, she receives the hatred of the mother-in-law. It is that the love of husband and wife is added onto her own beloved son, so why do envy and jealousy follow there…?
That is the mind of Satan. God wishes to see them love each other. One who knows our idea today must be glad and praise it, that the son and daughter-in-law love each other.
When the daughter-in-law likes her son, one ought to dance and be glad, so why does one envy and be jealous?
Within the gladness of the day the son was born, there is love for the son, but within that love there is also love for the daughter-in-law. When one sees the two snugly loving and liking each other, to say it from God’s position, would God, seeing Adam and Eve liking each other, dislike it, saying, “Hey, you are blocking the way. Move aside!” Even on an expressway, God is set to say, “However much you block the traffic, it is fine!” and to Himself move aside and go, not to shove past.
God, at the end of every hardship, made Adam and Eve. He made the universe to make them. Thus God, at the end of every hardship, made the created world.
Since He made Adam and Eve so laboriously, God, after making them all, would have been indescribably glad. But there ought to be a time when He could be even more glad than that, and that time is precisely the time when the sons and daughters He made become one—that is, the time Adam greets his bride. This gladness is connected to all things born between Heaven and earth and to all humankind; the center of love is connected.
And so, when from there the tribes spread out and turned into explosive power, this world could not but all be drawn in. Then you would all be born resembling God, and those who were not born resembling Him would try to resemble Him.
Then were you born resembling God, or are you trying to resemble Him?
Which is it? At least you must try to resemble Him.
If you were born resembling God, what day would be the day you ought to be glad about?
If God resembled you, it would be another matter, but if you were born resembling God, what day should you be glad about?
You must be glad about the day you were born. Next, you must be glad about the day you married. And you must be glad about the day you bore sons and daughters. This is the origin of history, and what has developed to achieve this was the true state of history and the content of the providence.
Jesus and His Bride
God has until now toiled precisely to find such days. God first sought and set up a son and sought and set up a daughter. Then, centered on whom has the providence of salvation until now been carried on?
It has been centered on the man. Looking at history, one can know that men fought for the providence.
If there is a person who came in first in the fight, there must be a family that came in first in the fight, and next, there must be such a tribe and nation. God must be attended by a nation that has come in first. To make such a footing, the thought of the chosen people appeared in the historical course. The one in charge, who led the chosen people by that thought of the chosen people, is precisely the man.
When God created Heaven and Earth, He did it relatively. The man is inward in this planar world, the horizontal world. Therefore, unless the man greets one day on which he can, standing inwardly, be glad, however something is achieved in the outward Heaven and earth, it is all useless. That is why the man seeks and sets up a standard by which he can be glad in the inward environment. And that standard by which one can be glad is not an individual one, but a standard by which one can be glad centered on a nation. It is to make that. Thus, to make a chosen-people nation as a people larger in scale than the chosen people was Israel. To say it again, it was to find and set up one man who could be glad, centered on a nation.
Then whose gladness does the gladness in that nation become? It becomes the gladness of God.
When one sees that fact, the historical course until now was a providence of salvation centered on man. Is that not so? In such a historical course, cutting through the historical course of hardship steeped in sorrow and suffering and misery, removing the miserable elements of the actual world, and amid that, there appeared one central figure who loved Heaven and loved the earth—and he was precisely the “Messiah” all people had awaited.
By the birth of the Messiah—that is, Jesus—God greeted a time when He could feel again the gladness of the time when that son lost in the Garden of Eden was born.
Then, having been born, what must that son do?
It is not that he must fight well, nor that he must earn money well. He must take a wife. But did Jesus take a wife? He could not. Why could he not take a wife? Because though Jesus was too well equipped as a bridegroom, there was no woman equipped as a bride.
What was Jesus’ wish?
It was to set up, before the world, a day of resurrection that could resolve the han of restoration. His day of being born became a day that could be glad, but the question was how the day of God’s brightness would come. He wished to greet, centered on God, one day of the Blessing, but that day of his wish struck against a cliff. To say it again, he came to be placed in a position like that of a ship that, running toward its destination, met a whirlwind and had its mast broken and lost both its direction and its destination.
Why did Jesus need a bride?
God needed one woman who could hold relative content before the men who toiled to prepare the footing of Israel. Jesus came not through his own single generation but through history.
Fighting from Abel, he came through Noah, Abraham, and so on, over thousands of years. Before such a man with a historical heart, no woman possessed a historical heart.
Had such a woman appeared and been able to stand as a relative being before Jesus, the historical sorrow could have been indemnified all at once in Jesus’ single generation. Only then would it become that Eve set out historically without dying.
Only then would it become that Eve set out together with an unfallen Adam.
Therefore, such a being as that Eve must appear and, indemnifying all the historical things in that single generation, make a new start. Otherwise, the footing of restoration and the resolution of han are not achieved.
Jesus, Who Was Lonely
Though the man came through thousands of years—because the bride of Adam, who was found, overturned the great enterprise of Heaven and earth in a single morning—the woman, in that restoration too, must liquidate the whole satanic world in a single generation.
That is why Jesus must connect all the historical conditions of indemnity to Eve. Eve must indemnify them throughout her whole life. In a place where she does not know the Will, coming to know the Will through Jesus, she must hand this over in a single generation.
This establishes the meaning that Eve, who at the outset, in a place of knowing nothing, listened to the words of Satan and fell, was restored by listening to the words of the original husband. There was at that time no woman who could inherit such a historical bond and take responsibility for the position of Jesus’ bride.
Think about it. Jesus came to set in order the four-thousand-year history, to resolve the han of that history, and to set up the flag of liberation before all people.
Being such a Jesus, how grave would every moment of facing the Will have been? He would have moved his steps with a heart resolved to move and shift Heaven and earth all at once. And yet, where was there an Israel that could be his object partner? Where did the teachers of the law and priests, who said they were so gifted, go? Busy only with opposing and making a fuss that they themselves were gifted, they all drove Jesus out. And so, upon this earth, where he ought to have dropped the anchor of hope, far from dropping the anchor of hope, he had to drop the anchor of ruin and go.
When he struck against such a destiny, how grave would Jesus, who sought the Garden of Gethsemane, have been?
That prayer, in which he called, “Father!” was a prayer of heart and of blood and sweat and tears that could pierce through and beyond the four-thousand-year history. Blood and sweat and tears are not shed for nothing.
Jesus prayed a prayer of blood and sweat and tears to save fallen Israel. And yet, not knowing such a heart of Jesus, Peter, John, and James were sleeping—how heartbreaking a thing was that?
Before such a heart of Jesus, there was no one who, with a conviction that could pierce through and cross over a great mountain, denied himself and stood forth from a relative position. It is a heartbreaking age. Even so, Jesus endured. But I regard it that at that time Jesus taught wrongly. He had too much love only. Jesus was always on the disciples’ side.
Even when the Pharisees reproached them for rubbing and eating wheat as they passed through a wheat field, he took the disciples’ side.
But such a Jesus received neither the public acknowledgment of Israel nor the public acknowledgment of the Jewish religious body. He was not publicly acknowledged by the teachers of the law, the scribes, or the patriarchs either.
Moreover, he was driven out even in his family—that is, the family of Joseph, born as a descendant of David. Jesus, driven out of his family and betrayed even by his disciples, had nowhere to go but the cross.
Even as he was dying, Jesus said, “Weep not for me, but weep for the sons and daughters of Israel.” He said to weep for the day of Israel’s liberation to come.
Yet there was no one who, crossing over such a pass of the cross, loved Jesus, shed tears for Jesus, and could convey the circumstances of Jesus again. That is why, even now, two thousand years later, Christianity has become this shape, this state.
If one does not fulfill the responsibility and mission given, one perishes. Jesus, as he was dying, left the standard of the family as a promise for later generations. That he would go and come and meet again—how heartbreaking a thing is that?
The Road of Jesus and the Road of the Teacher
That road of Jesus is a road that cannot be made even if it takes two thousand years.
How long did people wait to meet that Lord, and how many ancestors died on that road, melting their marrow amid miserable tears?
It is a heartbreaking thing. Before this nation and this people, or thinking he would come here or there, however one waits, the promised Lord is not coming. Only the surging waves of death—that is, the waves of family-level death and of tribal, national, and worldwide death—are sweeping over this age. Unless one greets an age in which one can advance from here, the Lord cannot come before this people. These people did not know.
But these people must, centered on the Teacher, pass through the first, second, and third courses and pass through even the worldwide age. That is why family, nation, and all are set right ideologically and achieve a new national system.
How, without receiving the help of America or any nation, to press down communism and set up these people as a worldwide leading nation, as an ideal mother country—the Teacher never forgets this. And yet, since the spirit of this people grows dim, the tradition until now grows dim, the culture grows dim, the ethics grow dim. All are being swept into the waves of death.
So here one must raise a point of question and dig in rightly and research and realize: is how one lives now the problem?
One knew only the direction and speed of the ship one boarded, but did not know that it was being pushed along by the blowing wind.
If one is careless, all is wrecked. One does not know that one must know the speed of the blowing wind and hold the rudder and turn the direction.
On the road of faith, one must go straight toward the goal just as it is. At the worldwide terminal end, a storm sweeps in. Therefore, at that time, however right a purpose one has, if one cannot take a direction, one is pushed along by the storm. A person who does not know the wind speed and wind direction and turns the rudder and takes a course prepared for it is wrecked.
Until now, the Teacher has taught, centered on the problem of the love of the family, the substantial standard concerning the family, such as the relationship of father and son and the relationship of husband and wife.
That is something no one, coming through the six-thousand-year history, could lay a hand on. These days, all the relationships in the family—the relationship of father and son, the relationship of husband and wife, and so on—are breaking apart. That is because Satan is straining to break these. This signifies the last days.
When such a confused age spreads worldwide, flashing in the east, flashing in the west, know that the Lord has come upon this earth and taken his place.
What is Jesus’ wish, God’s wish?
The day God is most glad is the day Adam was born, and next the day he greets his bride. That is why Jesus went, having driven in the placard, “I am the bridegroom, and you are the bride.” And so the Christians of the past thought that men too were brides. But the man is a servant and an archangel. It is the figure of the archangel who violated Eve. That is why, when the man set up the outward, the woman did the inward.
To Rise to the Level of Completion
The history of grace began with grandmothers. People of great age, over eighty-one, like “Anna,” too, were over eighty. The history of grace of old was carried on, centered on grandmothers of seventy or eighty.
Thereafter, it came down through the seventies, sixties, fifties, and so on, and when a time comes at which grace can rest on those in their thirties, know that the time of the Lord has come. When the history of grace, centered on those from their twenties to their forties, raises a national wind, know that the Lord has come.
Then, having come to this earth, what must that one do?
He must marry. At that time, will God, seeing it, weep or laugh?
Wait and see. In the course of human history, there remains the hope of crossing beyond the standard of completion. Adam had to connect this standard of hope and cross into the sphere of completion. But because Adam could not cross it, the coming Lord comes to take on that responsibility in his place.
So the coming Lord comes seeking this earthly world, taking on that responsibility in place of Adam.
But one who is at the growth level cannot, however much he does spirit communication, rise straight up to the completion level. To rise without having equipped all the requisite conditions is the same as encroaching on the position of the parent. Therefore, to rise to the completion level, one must equip all the requisite conditions, inward and outward.
That is, above one must represent Heaven, below one must represent the earth, behind one must integrate all the processes of history, and in the present one must be able to stand boldly, unifying the world’s humankind in place of the age to come.
Only such a qualified one can, receiving the public acknowledgment that he has come with authority above that of Adam of old, cross this line. Before that, one absolutely cannot cross this line. That is why Jesus came to this earth and set out upon that footing of victory established, developed into Jacob’s family, Jacob’s tribe, Jacob’s people, centered on Jacob of Israel, who was victorious in the satanic world.
For us to receive atonement, when one person offers an offering that can atone in place of all people, one must have a mind that can become one with that one central person.
Then all people were made one through that one person coming to be indemnified. Do you understand what this means? That is why the bridegroom comes centered on Israel, one of the nations of the world.
When one goes up to the standard at which Adam and Eve fell, one becomes an adopted son. An adopted son cannot inherit by just staying still as he is. An adopted son must set up the condition that he loves the adoptive parents more than the former true son of old. Only then can those adoptive parents, with a glad mind, hand down the inheritance to him. You must know this clearly.
Israel is a nation-type of the adopted-son sphere. That is why all those people had to have a mind above the mind with which Adam and Eve, God’s sons and daughters of old, loved God and were loyal before God before they fell. Unless one has a mind above that, one cannot be restored. One had to rise to that standard.
That is why John the Baptist, to set up before God, in place of Israel, the condition that he loved God more than the prophets of old, ate locusts and wild honey and offered devotion for over thirty years in the wilderness. But his position was the position of the wild olive tree.
The People of Israel, Who Received the Wages of Sin
Then, at such a stage, who must go forth to the sphere of completion?
Seen by the principle of creation, humankind and the parents must go forth. Adam and Eve are the parents of humankind. The parents of humankind must come to this earth and rightly repair what broke down through the fall.
At the outset, centered on Eve, Adam was dragged in and fell. Seen centered on the principle of creation, in the Garden of Eden, Eve was created through Adam.
Therefore, it is not that one brings Eve from the satanic world, but that one must take back Eve, who was seized by Satan. One must take her back and recreate her. Jesus came to this earth to do this work.
But did anyone even know such circumstances?
What did Jesus do for three years, having come to this earth? What are the twelve apostles?
The Teacher regards lightly those who only cringe when they see the Teacher.
In Christianity, they say Paul this and Paul that, but what is so splendid about Paul?
When the Teacher says, “You, you did this wrong, did you not?” he is flustered. Today’s theological trend has made Christianity, which was to be Jesus’ religion, into Paul’s religion.
Had Jesus come, he ought to have indemnified and restored everything. Indemnity and Restoration—he ought to have indemnified and restored all that was lost in Eden.
Furthermore, Jesus had to choose and set up one woman upon this earth.
Had Jesus come and made a new start in a family all could praise, what would have happened?
It would have become a bright new morning, and he could have greeted a day on which all things could receive Jesus with gladness. But it did not become so; the noon had already passed and entered upon the road of the setting sun, and though he ought to have received the praise of the many multitudes, on the contrary, he was driven into the lonely road of death, surrounded by satanic forces, and was on a road of having to fight death—a heartbreaking thing.
The people of Israel did wrong. Because the heavenly world is eternal, no one can erase the sin that people committed with blood.
However much the people devote themselves to erasing it, within those people themselves, no one can erase it. Because the people of Israel thus committed an unpardonable sin in the providence, they became a people wandering the world.
Because the Second Israel did not have the foundation this earth demands, it stands, by a spiritual foundation, in the position of forming a worldwide Israel-sphere and connecting a substantial Second and Third Israel. By the coming round of such an age, so that the people who failed to do the mission of the First Israel might be revived again, Israel came to gain independence in 1947.
That is why Israel, until now, has been driven before the nations of the enemy. Seen from the spiritual position, that it is surrounded by the Arab sphere, which was the archangel, is in the same position as the driving out and killing of Jesus of old; if it comes forth with single-hearted devotion to seek the Israel sphere, believing in God and offering all its devotion and repenting of the wrong it committed of old, God will lead it to an age in which it can set out toward a new Heaven and earth. In the fight with the Arab sphere, the other time it won a miraculous victory within one week was also God’s help.
Hereafter, too, it must, holding a single mind of protection for the holy site of Jerusalem until now, offer devotion. And unless it has a mind above the standard with which it fought and the deep mind of repentance and the mind with which Jesus sought to build centered on Israel, the people of Israel will be counterattacked.
When I quietly observed them the other time, the thought came that they only danced for gladness at having won, but after dancing, lost the heart standard by which they could attend God.
The Korean people, too, danced for gladness after the August 15 Liberation, but the Teacher, looking upon that, shed tears and prayed in a secret room. That is because yesterday’s gladness must not be turned into today’s sorrow.
This must be steeped deep, deep in the marrow and inherited by the descendants as a traditional thought, as the patriotism of this people.
Jesus, Who Did Not Achieve the Will
Who would be a person who could become such a support?
Who is the one who could draw in God, tie it to the national reality, and set up a national standard by which God could be glad? There is none.
Up to the completion level of the growth stage is the standard Adam and Eve rose to of old.
That standard Adam and Eve rose to remains. Because Adam and Eve rose to their place and then fell, this is a standard left by parents who historically failed.
Because the satanic world was formed by their falling there, Jesus, before this satanic world, centered on the national standard of Heaven, laid the road of Israel from the parental heart side. Had the people of Israel at that time attended to Jesus in accord with the Will, from Jesus’ position, he could have risen to the standard of completion.
Up to this standard is the seven-year course. Three times seven is twenty-one; the twenty-one-year course is the extension course of Jacob’s fourteen-year course, and it is the standard on which, centered on Jacob’s family, Canaan was restored. So it must be accomplished within these seven years. It is a heartbreaking fact.
Jesus, before setting out on his public ministry at the age of thirty, ought already to have achieved the will of the inward standard, but he could not. Of course, it was not that Jesus did wrong, but during the seven years from age twenty-seven to thirty-three, he had to set up the inward standard.
From age twenty-seven, centered on a seven-year course, he was to set up the national standard and next to set up a second seven-year course and make the worldwide standard so that, in the spiritual course, he was to set up a seven-year course in which the nation of Israel crosses beyond the Kingdom-of-Heaven standard as a world nation.
The seven-year course from age thirty-four to forty goes on into the seven-year Great Tribulation. And so the passage of age forty is the problem. The teacher, too, is now crossing the threshold of age forty.
Only by crossing Jacob’s fourteen-year pass—that is, the fourteen-year course—is the family-level standard of the Blessing at last determined. Only after that is there the Blessing of all things. It does not go by rough reckoning. Had the people of Israel risen to this crest at the national standard, they would have entered, for now, the blessed land of Canaan.
In Adam’s time, what would the archangel world Adam faced have been like?
Lower than the archangel is Satan. Therefore, the satanic world is no problem at all. Because we have until now broken through this road and groped for the national and state standard by which the parental standard could be determined, in the Last Days, one comes to be able to govern the world nation. Do you understand?
The Footing of Happiness
Jesus came as the Son of God. Since the son was born, God could greet a glad day. This is restoration. Since he came as a son, he must marry. Determining the son’s object partner and setting up the son’s day, then one was to set up the parents’ day.
To become a parent, must not a son come out?
If one does not bear children, one cannot become a parent. One may become husband and wife, but one absolutely cannot become a parent.
Only by bearing sons and daughters does one come to know the heart of Heaven and earth, and only by knowing that does one know the heart of the human being too. You must know that.
So! Therefore, with children alone, it does not work, and with husband and wife alone, it does not work. One must, without fail, go forth even to the position of a parent. That is, one must go forth even to the place where one can set up the love of children, the love of husband and wife, and the love of parents. That is why the gladdest day in a human being’s whole life is the day one can find such things.
There is no day gladder than this.
If one does not set up such a day, the Four Position Foundation centered on God is not achieved. To restore, centered on God, children, husband and wife, and parents—thus the Four Position Foundation—is the footing of human happiness.
Even in the satanic world today, one does not regard a person who lives alone as happy. In that mind, an autumn wind always sweeps.
So, is an autumn wind good, or is a spring wind good?
An autumn wind is, in fact, cool and pleasant in feeling, but within it there is a pressure as if hastening death, while a spring wind is, in fact, warm by day, but if one digs in, it is cold. Yet there, at last, the harmony of Heaven and earth unfolds.
Therefore, a person who lives alone is a person living in an autumn garden, and a person who lives together as husband and wife is a person living in a spring garden.
In a spring garden, bees and butterflies fly, but in an autumn garden, how many bees and butterflies fly about?
Of course, butterflies fly in an autumn garden too, but think about it. It is in a spring garden that bees and butterflies are set to fly; are they set to fly in an autumn garden? And in autumn, one is terribly busy.
One must harvest all the grain, and one must make preparations for wintering to prepare against the cold. But spring is a time of loosening and spreading. Even walking along a road, if there is a lawn nearby with the heat haze rising, one wants to take a nap there. Do you like spring or autumn? The Teacher likes spring.
So, however one sings of happiness and says it is thus and so, is it happy to live alone? When husband and wife live, and one dies, one weeps aloud, saying it is sad. Can one alone prepare the road one must go?
Why does one say that being without a mate is pitiful?
It is because one is a failing candidate before all the important days on which Heaven and earth can be glad. It is that one has gone awry before the rule of the law of Heaven and earth.
Surely only through that law does the fortune of Heaven and earth revolve, and the conditions of happiness and its motive are determined. That one is sorrowful too because one has grown that far distant from the law, and to the standard of such sorrow, the law of Heaven and earth does not conform.
What does it mean that the mind is glad and good?
It means there is a place in the world that welcomes that person. To be sorrowful is a place of being driven out. Gladness and sorrow are set to be divided so.
From the Wild Olive Tree to the True Olive Tree
That it is glad the more one guards God and comes near before God is because the Principle is so.
Accordingly, the spirit world is ideally centered on God, a world that moves by the beat of God’s love and its vibration. That is why, unless one polishes and takes with one, upon the earth, the element by which one can blend in there, one cannot harmonize there.
For that, one must perfect these three loves: the love of children, the love of husband and wife, and the love of parents.
Then how must the human being be restored?
First, one must rise to the world of the adopted son, and thereafter, rise to the world of the son. Thereby, greeting that son, one must, matching the ideal object partner and giving the Blessing, help him go forth even to the position of parent. This is the history of restoration.
When one analyzes history, it is simple. And yet here, among themselves, they fight and make a fuss over this and that.
For Israel to cross from the adopted son to the direct lineage, it must receive engrafting. To receive the engrafting for crossing to the direct lineage—because Adam and Eve of old fell in that the story of their heart-relationship and love-relationship with God was not deep—that love must be better than Adam and Eve’s.
Unless one sets up the standard of being better, one absolutely cannot follow. Therefore, one must be engrafted into Jesus.
To be engrafted is not to detach and attach Jesus’ arm or leg. When one learns from Jesus the law by which Jesus loves God—that is, God’s heart, such as “Humankind must live thus. God must be attended to so.
Love your neighbor thus—and regard it as my life; the result is engrafted to Jesus. That is, the wild olive tree changes into the true olive tree.
From here is the earthly Kingdom of Heaven. Through this earthly Kingdom of Heaven, one can enter the heavenly Kingdom of Heaven. Especially women must know this clearly.
Unification believers are trying to enter the earthly Kingdom of Heaven. Then, to enter the earthly Kingdom of Heaven, what gate must one pass through?
To enter the earthly Kingdom of Heaven, there must be parents.
Originally, one should have been loyal from the position of a child in the Kingdom of Heaven, but as it turned out, one was born while being driven about in the plight of a refugee’s life. A leg broken, the head twisted…. It is a state of affairs where one treats such a person and, barely keeping him alive, carries him about on one’s back. It is loathsome to see, is it not? It feels unpleasant, does it not? Think about it. You, too, have nothing whatsoever to boast of.
Parents’ Day and the Teacher
Spoken of in terms of the spirit world, the period corresponding to the sphere of Paradise is the seven-year period. That is, this is that the crowd of the Unification Church has toiled, over a seven-year period, in accord with that standard, at the resolution of han of the seven-thousand-year history awaited in the spirit world. Do you understand? Then whom must the crowd within this sphere of Paradise follow? They must follow the True Parents.
Accordingly, if there is something in which our Unification Church is better than ordinary churches, it is that the standard of calling Father and Mother is different.
The crowd who have gone to Paradise cannot call it so. But you—since the one who represents the earth has come, and the Mother, who is the Holy Spirit, has come, and the parents who represent Heaven have come bearing the name of parents—how great a glory it is, one cannot know. Do you understand?
Until now, however well one believed in Jesus, one could not become a fig tree that bears fruit. When Jesus, going from Bethany into Jerusalem, being hungry, looked at a fig tree and sought fruit, and there was none, he cursed it, and it withered and died, did it not? That fruit is the Lord at the Second Advent.
What our Unification Church has contributed before Heaven and earth is that it sought and set up Parents’ Day. This Parents’ Day was truly difficult to find.
For Parents’ Day to come forth, one must pass through the process of the adopted son and pass through the process of the child and enter even into the standard of being God’s object partner. Unless one sets this up, Parents’ Day could absolutely not come forth.
Jesus, having come upon this earth, had to pull the nation of Israel up to this standard. This period is the seven-year period from age thirty-four to forty. But Jesus could not go this road.
The teacher, too, took seven years praying centered on the Republic of Korea. Had the established churches received the Teacher, the Teacher would already have become a worldwide Teacher.
Then you would have discovered a great Teacher. But you have not yet discovered a great Teacher.
You are not seeing the name of the Teacher of the Unification Church spread worldwide as if on wings. So it has become a petty affair. It is a heartbreaking thing. Children were born, but they are all deformed children—a withered-armed one, a lame cripple, and such. Yet one cannot just leave them and go.
When one bore them, one bore such children, but it is not that someone did wrong and bore such children. It is not that the father did wrong and bore such children.
The seed was good, but the field was bad. So it is not that the Republic of Korea is bad. Once a few more generations pass, by the law of heredity, it can become good.
On a Parents’ Day like today, though it would not be enough even to speak to the most eminent people of the various nations of the world, having to speak, leading you along, it is heartbreaking.
Would it feel good? Would God like it either?
If Jesus had set up the will of the national standard, what would have happened?
Having set out from the position of a son and standing in the place of having done the responsibility as a son, he must determine the object partner. Then automatically sons and daughters come forth.
Likewise, our Unification Church does such work. We must know and complete the mission of the Son that Jesus could not do. To say it again, determining the relative standard Jesus was to do, we must do the work of restoring the adopted son into a direct-lineage child. That is why we are doing such work.
Until now, centered on 1960, we blessed the 36 Couples, and, centered on those families, blessed the 72 Couples and the 124 Couples. Such work is the work of liberating all the spirit individuals of history and the spirit world.
The Background of How Parents’ Day Came to Be
In fixing Parents’ Day, a standard of crossing beyond the seven years was needed.
If one just fixed it any old way, it could not befit the original meaning of Parents’ Day. Then it could not but receive the invasion of Satan. Before that, only by fighting the satanic world and tasting all the bitter and the sweet and then setting it up is there value as the original Parents’ Day.
That is why, crossing the seven-year crest, one set up, together with Parents’ Day, a new God’s Day. That, centered on this year, one has set up God’s Day is a miracle among miracles in history, and there is no gladder thing than that.
Originally, the day on which the love of Adam and Eve centered on God and the love of God is achieved is God’s Day, Parents’ Day, Children’s Day, and the Day of All Things. But in the Unification Church, setting up Children’s Day, one set up Parents’ Day, and, setting up Children’s Day and the Day of All Things, one dragged through the seven-year crest. Though Israel expelled Jesus and drove him to the road of the cross, we today, after passing through the history of the seven-year course, if we, upon that standard, centered on the Republic of Korea, go on unifying the world, the foundation of the providence will only rise; it absolutely will not come down.
Having already made such an environment of the age, and because Jesus, representing the worldwide standard, has stepped forth barefoot and set up one standard before God, one fixed God’s Day, matching the environment of the age in which one could attend God. Thereby, the lost God’s Day and Parents’ Day, Children’s Day, and Day of All Things—these four great holy days—were at last determined to be centered on the altar of the Unification Church.
You must know that this fact is the greatest victory won in the providence of Restoration through the historical course.
Therefore, a person who has not followed along the seven-year course up to when Parents’ Day came forth cannot become a child. They are people who, feeling dissatisfaction with their own, fell away or were expelled from here. That is why, when the Teacher was crossing the seven-year course, he said, “Whatever happens, follow along.
Until 1967, let us shed tears together, be lonely together even when lonely, and receive persecution together even when persecuted.”
You too, who follow along the road the Teacher goes, could not but be lonely people. You could not but be driven and chased and leave traces of tears. That we walked such a road was because, unless we did so, we could not cross this seven-year crest. Before crossing this crest, one cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven. The Teacher has until now toiled, walking this road centered on the Republic of Korea.
Now, even without the Teacher, it is fine. Because God’s Day has been proclaimed, in the democratic world and in the communist world, division will break out within.
Now is a time when, worldwide, every phenomenon is corrupted and collapsing, so that one cannot but drive out even the last one. America, too, has now become a battlefield with the Vietnam War.
If the Teacher were the President of the United States, he would have the confidence to grip the world in hand and cook it up splendidly once.
The work we do, when one comes to know it, is work that cannot but be done; however, one would not do it. Before such a destiny, entrusting everything to God, we came forth fighting to the end. That is why, even if driven and chased, one must, with the dignity and authority to seek and set up God, do one’s responsibility fully.
Even in a place of being driven, a place of being chased, a place of having entered prison, one must set up the dignity of having done one’s responsibility fully. God always set up a standard of victory before Satan in order not to submit to Satan.
Accordingly, by setting up this standard, we can set up God’s dignity for Him. Such is our responsibility in the history of restoration.
The Course the Multitude of Unification Must Walk
We have set up Parents’ Day, but this Parents’ Day must not become the Parents’ Day only of the Unification Church of today. It must not become a Parents’ Day that only we can greet. It must become a Parents’ Day that all the people of the world can greet.
You must know that on this day there dwells the heart of the Teacher, who even now groans to cross the han-knotted crest of ten thousand ages. Therefore, bearing an urgent heart, one must make it so that one can greet that one day on which, breaking down this world of sin and evil, the trumpet sound of liberation and the cheers of liberation can fill Heaven and earth. We cannot but do the mission of such a liberation army.
Unless we do so, one cannot say that one has done the way of loyalty and filial piety as the sons and daughters of those parents.
This day is not a day that only the small crowd within the fence of the Unification Church can celebrate, but a day all people can celebrate. It is a day that can be praised long throughout all history. It is a day that all the people of the future can long commemorate and praise as a day of boasting, a day of gladness, a day of glory.
Who even knows that a day that ought to be so celebrated has unfolded in the territory of Korea today? Even now, not knowing at all what sort of time it is, whether the years are coming or going, they do not even dream.
Today, when justice and injustice cross at one point, we must strive diligently to fulfill our responsibility fully. And so this year we must settle it. Centered on the 1960s, because until now we were in a position of being attacked, we did not have a time when we could take a total advance. But now the time has come when we can resolve that knotted han nationally and worldwide.
We have had God’s Day, Parents’ Day, Children’s Day, and the Day of All Things. We must long for these days, praise them, resolve all the han bound to these days, and make it so that all things can welcome, with arms outstretched, this day as our day.
God is awaiting such a day. Accordingly, it is now our responsibility to, by a total advance, tour the three-thousand-li peninsula once again and, gazing at the world stage, go forth aiming at the final decisive battle.
We must always be steeped in such a mission and burn with such a mission and become a people that can, before the Kingdom of Heaven of tomorrow, boldly boast the authority of the Third Israel and become such sons and daughters. And so we must become an I who can offer praise forever and ever and boast forever and ever before God.
We are participating for the sake of the glory of that day. Therefore, we must overcome and cross beyond the reality of today and do such work. This is the course the multitude of unification must walk.
On the occasion of this day of celebration, reflecting on the seven-year course spent fruitlessly in the past, and recognizing once again, from this day on, the sense of responsibility that one cannot but act with one mind, I ask that you fully do your responsibility, in earnest, before this people and this generation.
We must set out with the belief that we can do it. One must participate here with a mind that one cannot bear not to do this work.
Only then does your celebrating this day have meaning, and only then can God, through such of you, continue to leave a mind of hope. That is why you must advance.
If you advance, the Teacher will go together with you, but if you retreat, the Teacher will abandon you and go elsewhere. Everyone, will you go, or will you retreat? (We will go.)
The Teacher’s place is not a comfortable and happy place.
By greeting this day, we can stand in a place where we can have the value of true children, true husband and wife, and true parents, as God wished. In that place, one must become an I who can appear boldly before Heaven and earth, or before the satanic world, or before Cain-type sons and daughters.
Only then, you must clearly know, does one become a people of the Kingdom of Heaven and sons and daughters who can have a heavenly family.
The teacher, too, is now advancing along this road. I hope that each of you will recognize that you too cannot but go by way of this road.
