God’s Toil for the Providence of Restoration

Today is one of the days that, in our church, must be commemorated deep in the heart and kept with gathered devotion (Parents’ Day).

We, Born for Historical Indemnity

We are not people born for the sake of the world, but people born for the sake of Heaven. Thus, our bond today was not tied by our wish.

In forming a relationship with this Will, this church, and coming forth to such a place as this, there was, of course, your effort as well, but in its background is lodged a historical bond that we do not know.

You must once again feel the fact that God worked in the background, together with the merit of your ancestors. That is why you who attend this place must know that you were born bearing the solemn mission of carrying out historical indemnity.

Accordingly, we must prepare to accomplish worldwide indemnity for the sake of God’s providence of restoration.

To make this preparation, God chose the people of Israel, passed through a four-thousand-year history, sent Jesus, and sought to unfold God’s Will through him, and He sought, by having Jesus form a worldwide family, to bring the restoration of all people to completion. But because the people of Israel failed to uphold that Will, Jesus could not fulfill his mission.

So they have walked a road of suffering until now, and God too has walked a course of suffering until now, hoping that a single nation that could inherit that Will would appear upon this earth.

Meanwhile, he handed over the worldwide mission to Christianity, the Second Israel, and, through that Christianity, has been unfolding such a mission and carrying on until now.

Because Jesus, in his age, should have accomplished such a Will of God but could not, the Teacher must complete that responsibility, centered on Korea if it be Korea. To complete it, one cannot but re-indemnify all the stories of the historical age that existed from after Jesus came and went until today.

We must re-enact today the fact that Jesus, unable to fulfill the responsibility of indemnifying upon this earth and unable to set up the condition of forming a oneness with the people, died and must walk again the course of indemnifying, centered on this people.

But walking this historical course of indemnity is not so simple. One must re-enact horizontally and indemnify and restore the four thousand years of vertical providential history from Adam to Jesus, and one must horizontally indemnify and restore today what has remained on the two-thousand-year course of restoration since Jesus—that is, what remained through Christianity during that time, indemnified while spreading the gospel to many peoples and nations.

Then, in what environment does indemnity and restoration take place? Indemnity and restoration do not take place except in a place where God and Satan collide head-on. That is why, whether one looks at the age of Cain and Abel, the age of Noah, the age of Abraham, the age of Moses, or the age of Jesus, God and Satan always confronted each other, centered on an individual, a family, or a people.

Setting up a central being who bore some mission—an offering if it be an offering, a person if it be a person, a family if it be a family—and hanging some condition upon it, God and Satan confronted each other and decided victory or defeat.

When one surveys the history of restoration that has thus unfolded, the period from the Old Testament Age to the New Testament Age was an age of symbolic and image-type indemnity, an age in which one could indemnify by setting up some condition; but in the final age of substantial indemnity, one cannot but indemnify on a one-to-one standard, hanging up a substance—a nation if it be a nation, a people if it be a people. To do so is God’s historical wish.

Unless God decides victory or defeat with Satan on such a standard, He cannot completely seek and set up before Himself a nation if it be a nation, a people if it be a people.

Because there is such a circumstance in God’s providence, if Korea bore such a mission, Korea could not but run up against a tremendous trial that stakes the world, if it be the world. That is why democracy and communism are confronting each other in Korea. That the two great camps are contending back and forth, centered on Panmunjom, is precisely a manifestation of the heavenly world and the satanic world fighting each other.

Seen from this viewpoint, outwardly they are confronting each other, staking Korea like this, but inwardly God and Satan are making a final confrontation, centered on the historical facts, the epochal facts, and the future facts. By doing so, one cannot but set up an inner indemnity condition. History flows on with such a two-sided relationship.

Thus, there is a relative aspect to the outer standard and the inner standard. Today, this world, seen by the outer standard, has the democratic world and the communist world confronting each other, and, seen by the inner standard, Christianity and our Unification Church confronting each other.

So you and the Teacher must become one, set up a new inner standard, and pass through the stages of formation, growth, and completion. But the standard of the outer world does not match the standard of the inner world, nor does it match the standard on which you and the Teacher advance. Here, in the process of being indemnified, God’s story is entangled.

The Mission of Jesus

Then how must one act to set up a complete indemnity condition?

The facts that came about centered on the Teacher, if it be the Teacher, on the family, if it be the family. You must be able to communicate naturally with your family. And these facts must pass through the church if it be the church, the nation if it be the nation, and the world if it be the world, without contradiction or clash. But because such an environment was not formed, God, in carrying on the history of indemnity until now, has carried it on without teaching the method.

Because when a complete inner plus arises, a complete outer minus arises, the history of indemnity until now has been one of setting up a complete plus-type standard and then gathering here the minus-type standard—that is, the standard of indemnity.

That is why, in doing the history of indemnity, God has never once proclaimed that fact before all people and done it.

God’s inner circumstance must be connected through the individual, family, society, people, nation, and up to the world.

Such work remains; then how must you act to accomplish this?

Centered on the inner standard, you must put in devotion that God can receive.

You must know that, without this, it is exceedingly difficult to pioneer this environmental foundation. Because of this hardship, God, passing through the long, long six thousand years until now, and even through Jesus, who came to this earth in substance, could not announce that fact.

Originally, who must set up the indemnity condition?

Cain and Abel must set it up. Otherwise, Adam’s fall cannot be restored. However much Adam was set up in the position of parent, Cain and Abel must set up the standard of indemnity and restoration from the position of children, and upon that standard, the position of parent must be restored. This is the principle. That is, only when Cain and Abel set up the indemnity condition and connect it to the parent is the position of the parent restored. Nevertheless, ever since the struggle of Cain and Abel, a struggle has continued until now between those who bore the Cain-type responsibility and those who bore the Abel-type responsibility. That is why Jesus, as the Messiah, to indemnify and restore this mission worldwide, had to carry out the mission of the Abel of Abels.

He had to confront Satan from Abel’s position and take back the standard on which Abel failed in the Adam family; he had to confront Satan from Noah’s position and take back what Noah failed in the Noah family. And he had to recover again what Abraham lost and had to indemnify and restore what the people of Israel, centered on Moses, lost in confronting Satan.

That is, until Jesus, in his generation, indemnified and restored the whole of what had to be indemnified and restored, centered on him, he could not set up the indemnity condition that Cain and Abel had failed to set up.

So the purpose of Jesus’ life was that Jesus himself fight and win and indemnify and restore all the things lost in the historical process. That is, it was to inherit the Abel-type standard and indemnify and restore what Cain and Abel had failed to indemnify and restore. But Jesus, through the disbelief of the Jewish people, could not fulfill such a mission.

The Road the Unification Church Has Walked

Then how should Jesus have acted to accomplish that mission?

Inwardly, he should have restored the position of parent and should have sought and set up the condition of indemnifying and restoring, historically, what the parents had lost. But because he could not fulfill such a mission, Jesus completely lost that foundation.

Then what is such a Jesus now doing spiritually?

Together with the Holy Spirit, he is again seeking and setting up, spiritually, the foundation that was lost in the ages of Abel, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus.

Upon the earth, a substantial Holy Spirit should have become the object partner before Jesus and done that work, but it could not be done.

So, spiritually, Jesus and the Holy Spirit had to set up a world-historical Cain and Abel and set up the position of parent. That is why, centered on that spiritual standard, they have sought a Cain and Abel that could be set up over that evil.

To seek this out, the world is now dividing into a Cain-type individual, family, nation, and world, and an Abel-type individual, family, nation, and world. But this is not ideal. Centered on the spiritual standard, it is thus dividing outwardly. And so the two great forces are now fighting.

Yet now a foundation on which the ideal world can be established is unfolding. To inherit that foundation and bridge it, Christianity has borne responsibility for the inner standard until now.

Then what will the Lord do when he comes again?

The coming Lord must gather the inner standard and the outer standard and indemnify horizontally the six thousand years of history that have been indemnified vertically until now.

Jesus should have set up a worldwide standard spiritually and physically, but he set up a worldwide standard only spiritually and could not set up a physical standard.

Spiritually, he set up a worldwide standard, but physically, he could not set up even a national standard.

Because Jesus thus could not set up even a national standard, the Lord who comes again must, becoming one with the Christians, set up such a standard. And the Christians today must, by attending to the Lord who comes again, set up what the First Israel—that is, the people of Israel in Jesus’ day—failed to complete: the mission of setting up a national standard.

For that, the Lord who comes again must become one with the church and become one with the nation. That is why there is a double difficulty compared with Jesus’ day in the past.

Jesus should have become one with Judaism, gathered the nation, and passed over to the world, but because that could not be done and Jesus died, Christianity and Judaism split apart.

If a situation arises in which that is re-enacted in Korea, the Lord who comes there must, becoming one with Christianity, rise even to the national standard, and only then is the standard of the Jewish nation restored.

Even if the Lord and Christianity become one, unless Korea, which stands in the position of the Jewish nation, sets up an indemnity condition, there is no connection with the Will. That is why, when one looks at the road the Unification Church has walked until now, one can know that it has walked bearing a double, triple mission.

To fulfill such a responsibility, the Teacher had to set up all the historical vertical indemnity conditions that had to be set up in Jesus’ day and also had to set up the standard of the bride that Jesus could not set up and depart.

So the Teacher, centered on Christianity, gathered this work. Because Jesus was met with disbelief by the Jewish people and driven out, Christianity, the Second Israel, came to do only spiritual redemption. And just as, because the Jewish people opposed Jesus, God’s blessing upon Israel was moved to the Gentiles, so within Korea too, because those centered on Christianity, through whom the Will was carried on, failed to take responsibility, the foundation was laid again through the unbelievers, who correspond to the gentile people.

Then what foundation is this?

It is the foundation the people of Israel lost in Jesus’ day, and to form it again, we passed through the first seven-year course. Centered on the Teacher, this is a twenty-one-year course.

Then what was the Teacher doing up to the fourteenth year of the twenty-one-year course?

That period was a period of deciding, centered on the family standard, the lost standard of parents. That period corresponds to the fourteen years of Jacob’s twenty-one-year course. Speaking in terms of Jesus, it is a period the same as finding a single starting point of a new departure upon the earth.

Therefore, to set up that standard, one cannot but set up, from Abel’s position, the conditions by which all the facts on which the past ancestors failed can be restored.

In other words, unless one connects this before a substantial standard, indemnity and restoration do not take place.

That is why God has done the work of connecting above and below, centered on a new Abel and a new Noah family. Here the work of overturning history takes place, and the work of overturning the world takes place.

In other words, one cannot but pass again through the whole course of the story on which, in Jesus’ generation, a family had to be formed, and a clan had to be formed.

So, after we proclaimed Parents’ Day centered on the year 1960, during the passing of the seven-year course, we laid this foundation inwardly and outwardly. And so we rose to the standard on which we can act nationally.

A Time to Turn in One Direction

Seen in terms of the Will, a standard like that on which the nation of Israel and Judaism could face Jesus—that is, an environment like Jesus’ age—has now been formed before us. Because we are placed at such a point, we cannot but unfold an interdenominational movement. With such conviction, we cannot but carry out a two-front operation here.

Therefore, just as we were loyal to the restoration of the people, we must render full loyalty to the interdenominational movement as well. We have set up such a standard until now.

Then what is the problem here?

Even when centered on the Teacher, there must be a family. In the Teacher’s going forward, it does not work for the Teacher to go alone.

On the Teacher’s walking this road, there must be a family, there must be children, and those children must be one. And at the same time as the children become one, you too must become one. But when one quietly looks at the 36 Couples, the 72 Couples, or the 124 Couples now, the mortar is not turning in one direction. Thinking that one’s life hangs on this, like a tangled cell, this road of life and the living standard of everything must turn together, but the problem is that it does not.

Therefore, what is God doing now, at this time?

Because in God’s Will hangs not the circumstance of a few people but the circumstance of the whole; to turn the people and turn the world, God is turning it in one direction, centered on the Teacher’s family. But the more it turns, one turn at a time, the more it should grow larger and gather into one place, yet it does not become so.

The spirit world now worries most about this problem. When our families are completely blended into one and the whole turns, then the other world too comes to turn centered on us. Because the heavenly fortune is moving in one direction, it cannot but be so.

Now the situation is that the Teacher, biting your tail, keeps going toward one place. If he does not do so, you would all split apart, each going his own way.

Not all moving toward one place is the same as not moving, expecting God to do everything. This time is like the time when the people of Israel were restoring Canaan and like the time when Jacob was returning from the land of Haran to his homeland—so how must we act?

We must gather all of ourselves and keep step before that purpose—that is, before God’s Will. Otherwise, everything from one to ten will be no more than wasted effort. But since God is the center in keeping step, on the road of advancing centered on God, there must be no objection whatsoever, from one to ten.

If we do not thus cross the seven-year crisis, considerable hindrance will arise. For you who are in such a position, the Communist Party is not fearful. In other words, the Communist Party is not the problem.

Nor is the democratic world the problem, nor is the nation the problem. You must know that it is precisely you yourselves who are the problem.

To Restore This World

For world restoration, all must become one, centered on the True Parents. The sons and daughters must become one with the mother and become one with the father. Because human beings fell, cooperation between mother and children is absolutely necessary.

So what must the mother do?

She must be for the sake of the children. So here they become one and again become one with the Father. Thus, the family must become one. Thereafter, the Blessed Families—that is, the 36 Couples, the 72 Couples, and the 124 Couples—must become one.

Only when the Blessed Families thus become one does the Unification Church at last become one.

Only after the Blessed Families and the Unification Church become one do these people become one; and only after these people become one do Japan, America, and Germany become one, centered on Korea. That is why the Teacher prays mainly centered on these four nations.

In the past, Korea and Japan were enemies of each other. But to do indemnity and restoration, one must set up before Heaven, in a mutually relative position, the most loved and the most hated, the most loved nation and the most hated nation.

Otherwise, Heaven and earth cannot be restored. Centered on Korea, it is Japan, and centered on America, it is Germany that is in the relative position.

Accordingly, Korea is an Adam-type nation, and Japan is an Eve-type nation. And America is an archangel-type nation, and Germany is a Satan-type nation. So if Korea becomes one, these four nations can be restored. And if these four nations become one, the world is restored. Thereby, the spirit world and the physical world can be restored.

To do so, how must we proceed hereafter? Stated in reverse, to restore the Cosmos and the world, these four nations must become the offering. And to restore these four nations, Korea must become the offering; and to restore Korea, the Unification Church must first become the offering.

So now the Teacher tells the Unification believers to become the offering for the restoration of the people. And before the Unification believers become the offering, the Blessed Families must first become the offering.

When, through the suffering of the Blessed Families, the sphere of blessing centered on the Blessed Families comes to be spread out nationally—that is, when the indemnity condition comes to be set up nationally—Korea begins to be restored.

And for the Blessed Families to stand, the Teacher’s family is necessary. For the Teacher to stand—that is, for the Teacher to settle completely—the Mother is necessary, and for the Mother to stand, the children are necessary.

Further, for God to stand, the Teacher is necessary. That is, for God to stand, the Teacher must indemnify everything. Thus, the relationships of indemnity are all connected. That is why, when one prays, how must one pray?

One must pray in reverse. “Through the True Parents and True Children, through the Blessed Families, through the Unification Church family members, through Korea, through Japan, America, and Germany, and through the world, restore the Cosmos.” One must pray so. It is the formula to indemnify by passing through such stages.

What is the greatest problem now in this seven-year course?

It is that one must decide this inner standard and outwardly turn toward one direction, yet this cannot be done. Because it is the same as the heavenly fortune not turning but merely watching, God cannot now work fully.

Our Position in Passing Through the Seven-Year Course

Today, this Parents’ Day, is the last day centered on the first seven-year course.

Then what has the Teacher done in the first seven-year course?

Setting up a family standard and setting up a clan standard, through the church, he set up a national indemnity condition. This inner standard was something that had to be accomplished in Jesus’ day but failed, so it was re-indemnified.

So in the past seven-year course, we have striven to fit this. At such a time, it has great significance that we are fiercely waging Victory Over Communism activity to overcome communism. Meanwhile, we must hereafter also actively unfold church activity.

But at this time, what you must know is that when Jacob left Haran and returned to his homeland, he handed over all of his own to Esau. He handed over to Esau the whole of the wealth gained as the result of twenty-one years of toil. In doing so, what Jacob wished from Esau was that Esau would publicly acknowledge the fact that Jacob himself had been blessed before God.

Likewise, Jesus, if he could have done as he pleased with the nation of Israel at that time, would have given the nation of Israel to the world. And he would have distributed to the people of Israel all his authority and wealth and everything else.

By thus distributing it and letting them possess it, the aim was to subjugate the world. That is why our Unification Church members at present must suffer, compared with other people, in their economic situation.

Then, in what position are we now?

We are placed in a breathless moment—like the moment Jacob wrestled with the angel at the ford of Jabbok—of whether we will be decided as Israel. If there is a person here who bears this grave mission, that person cannot but wage such a fight.

If a person bearing such a grave mission becomes one with the church and one with the people and restores the nation, then everything used there too comes to stand in a restored position together with that person.

Likewise, if, in this historical fight of God, we fulfill our mission and win, we can restore the world. We are now placed at a grave point of waging such a fight.

So the Blessed Families have been central and have fought until now. Seen in terms of the Will, in the past, Abel was set up and made the offering. But from now on, once this standard is set up, what happens?

It is not that Abel is set up and indemnified, but that Cain is set up and indemnified. It must be so. Because Cain did not submit to Abel and guard Abel’s foundation in his stead, restoration did not take place.

Therefore, how must it be hereafter?

Abel must rest. In other words, Abel must be liberated, and Cain must take responsibility for Abel’s fight and go forward. Only then is the Kingdom of Heaven realized. Do you understand?

If the Abel family has won and set up Cain, then Cain must stand in Abel’s position before all the families. Thus, those who won in Abel’s position take their rest, and instead the Cain-type people, inheriting Heaven’s Abel position, must again subjugate the Cains of the satanic world. Those who subjugated the Cains—that is, those who inherited Abel’s position—because they won not in a Cain-type position but in Heaven’s Abel-type position, come to stand in a place where they can rest and, handing over their position to new substitutes, carry on indemnity and restoration. Because the Teacher has won in the seven-year course until now, staking the matter of life and death, he can now settle into place.

That the Teacher could not respond even when the children or the Mother asked something was because he had to advance, centering on the Will more than on the family members. One must not advance centering on anything else. That is because, up to a certain period, one must pass through the process of the offering.

And for Abel to become the original Abel, there must be many people around him who carry out the Abel-type responsibility; only then can he become the original Abel; otherwise, he can never take the position of the original Abel.

That is why my normal standard in this seven-year course is to pass through the process of the offering. But it is not so forever. Now you must take over such things in my stead.

Fighting Satan and winning, gradually conquering the outer environment, you must set up the standard for building the inner Kingdom of Heaven. Here, because the vertical fight of the historical age is unfolded horizontally, one cannot but undergo a fierce fight.

The Central Family Members Who Must Reflect

Is the life you have lived until now your own?

How is it? But when one quietly observes these days, because the Teacher takes responsibility for the whole—whether office or factory—they try to shove the debt onto the Teacher and not take the debt themselves. That must not be.

If one does so, the problem is great. Do you know why the Teacher suffers now? It is because the family members are all like that.

So, how to settle this is the problem the Teacher’s head aches over now. Where in the world is there a law by which one seeks only one’s own abundant living, whether the factory goes into debt?

They may not know about living in debt themselves, but would it do for the factory, the teacher, to go into debt, and for the Unification Church to go into debt?

Yet they hold the mindset of living without going into debt themselves, and this is a great problem. Would it be appropriate to drag and pull at what belongs to others? Though they have the responsibility, rather, to lighten others’ loads, forgetting this, they instead load on burdens. This must not be.

Seen from a principled viewpoint, your living posture and attitude are not right. It is by no means that the Teacher dislikes bearing burdens. Seen heavenly-wise, such a thing is not good for the future. Now is such a time. Now is a fearful time.

What our family members must do hereafter is to face the Will up to the Teacher’s standard, take responsibility before God, and struggle and work. That remains a responsibility you yourselves must carry out hereafter.

When one comes to know this, the work we do is truly fearful. That is, if you fail in your responsibility, you will all be caught, and even your ancestors will all be caught. Is it not so? Because of failing to attend to Jesus rightly, the nation of Israel was caught, and that nation was broken.

According to how you carry out your responsibility, your ancestors are decided, and your later generations are decided. Yet this is not known. You do not know how the world is turning out. So from now on, during the remaining seven-year course, you must come to know a little more about such matters.

Even among the members of a trinity (三位基臺), if a year passes with neither a letter nor a meeting, can you be called family members centered on God?

Your acting outwardly is necessary too, but the members of a trinity must keep in contact and meet with one another. It is the same with the 36 Couples, too. Is being a member of the 36 Couples merely attending a place like this? If one fails in responsibility, it is fearful. The problem is great.

The 36 Couples have the responsibility to unite as one and, even with a heart of having nothing if they have nothing, become one, face the Will and put in devotion, become a fence for the Teacher’s family, and gather the 72 Couples and the 124 Couples.

Though they have such a responsibility, they merely gaze at the Teacher at all times. That must not be. If you cannot believe whether the Teacher’s words are true, go and ask a person who communicates with the spirit world. Now is such a time.

So the greatest hardship of the Teacher now is how to guide the family members away from forgetting such a heavenly inner circumstance and recklessly trampling over and crossing beyond the heavenly heart (天情). Such a thing must not be.

Because the Mother’s last birthday was the last in the seven-year course, the Teacher meant to buy her something as a memento, but his hand would not go to it, and he gave it up. Buying dress shirts and neckties for the association department heads, he used up all the money he had taken out to buy a memento for the Mother. In truth, that was not the Teacher’s work to do, but work you yourselves should have done.

So even in our living, let us reconsider from a principled standard. And though you now advance centered on the Teacher, you do not know the Teacher at all. However much you study, you do not know the Teacher’s inner content.

If, holding a human mind, you blindly criticize worldly-wise, you will be severely reprimanded when you go to the spirit world. Though the Teacher has walked this road until now, it is not that he is as ignorant of society as anyone or as ignorant of humanity as anyone. He knows the hardships of human beings better than anyone.

The Work We Must Do

On the road ahead of you, there remain several crises of hardship you cannot imagine. The Teacher is hard-pressed, strained, and busy even walking his road, yet he stands in a position of having to teach you, one by one, even what you ought to know and do of yourselves, so it is a double, triple suffering.

So for the past several days, I could not sleep. All such things are fine. But though it is all right for the Teacher himself, God worries.

When that happens, wherever you go, your road becomes tangled and turns out badly. That is why you must know that the spirit world demands that, once this seven-year course ends, the families be reorganized.

When people who pray all pray about it to the Teacher, they say, “The spirit world says to reorganize all the 36 Couples, the 72 Couples, and the 124 Couples—what does this mean?” It is bound to be spoken of so. That is why, when each of you returns home, centered on the actual stage of living and centered on your family, from a restored position, reflect on whether you are, at all times, walking a road fitting for sons and daughters of God. To go on always in this state is to perish. Therefore, one must not always be in such a state.

If the Teacher’s family has fulfilled the Abel-type responsibility on the family standard, then next you must fulfill the Abel-type responsibility on the family standard. Doing so, you must extend, aiming at the Kingdom of Heaven. But a foundation on which God can rest has not yet been laid. That is why it is always a fight, always a battlefield. And Satan can come and go on all sides at any time.

So when will one settle into place?

You must know that such a difficult problem remains. Therefore, you are in a position of having to give all devotion, centered on such a problem.

Jesus came to this earth and sought, centered on the family, to gather the church and the national standard, but because he could not do so, the Teacher, in place of that position, must pioneer a national standard in the ideological field through ordinary people—that is, through unbelievers.

Once this is pioneered, hereafter, centered on this standard, the church sphere too can naturally be resurrected and pass over. You must know that what we are moving here is not something that ends within the small Unification Church of a few people, but a global problem.

Centered on one purpose, we must, with full devotion, unfold a church-unification movement, a national movement and prepare against the North Korean communist party. When we are unprepared because we could not put in devotion, the responsibility is ours; but when we are unprepared even after giving full devotion, the responsibility is not ours.

If one perishes for not putting in devotion, there is no way to stand again; but if one gives full devotion and yet it does not turn out as willed, there is a way to stand. On Parents’ Day, you must know the significance of Parents’ Day.

Originally, this Parents’ Day had to come forth by proclaiming the day of the resurrection of the heart and the day of substantial resurrection.

When one examines the process of resurrection, it proceeds as the resurrection of the heart, substantial resurrection, and resurrection of all things. Because, in the beginning, through the fall of the human being, God lost all things, lost the substance, and lost the heart, He carries on, in reverse, the resurrection of heart, substantial resurrection, resurrection of all things.

Through that, Parents’ Day, Children’s Day, and the Day of All Things are found. To accomplish this, the Teacher himself has walked a thorny road and indemnified. Because he thus set up an indemnity condition, he could escape Satan’s accusation condition and establish a blessed Parents’ Day.

The Significance of the Seven-Year Course

Then what has the seven-year course been until now, after the establishment of Parents’ Day?

And what has God done for six thousand years, and what is God’s unchanging historical wish? It is to find one Mother. It is, by sending Adam—that is, after re-creating Adam—to find one Mother through him. This is re-creation.

Because originally, after God created Adam, He made Eve centering on Adam, so in re-creation too, He sends Adam and, through him, finds Eve. That is, He seeks and sets up the Mother. To do so, during this seven-year course, He had the Mother walk a road on which she could escape the accusation condition of the satanic world.

For that, the Mother herself must absolutely not fight Satan directly. She must absolutely obey and absolutely submit to the Teacher, and must always follow behind the Teacher like a shadow. If she comes and goes as she pleases, Satan invades her.

What sort of period is this seven-year period again?

As a period of indemnifying the process of passing from six thousand to seven thousand years, because Adam, by failing in his responsibility, lost Eve, one must restore Adam’s position, subjugate Satan, and set up a victorious standard; the seven-year period is a period of doing such things. After setting up that standard, one must set up the Mother, connect the spiritual standard, indemnify and restore the position of the fallen parents, and set up the foundation of the True Parents.

So when you go out and work, you must do it with the heart of unfallen parents.

That is because God, from the period in the womb, set the whole program of indemnity and restoration and worked in accordance with it, and you too must do as God does. You do not yet know, but hereafter I will tell you all about it in detail. Passing thus through a three-year course, it has been carried on until now.

Then what must be done in that period?

The Mother must give safe birth. That the Mother gives birth to children is no simple matter. Because one Eve fell, countless women until now have gone through wretched, wronged, and complicated twists. Therefore, one must save such wronged spirits. To save them, one must open a road so that they can all be forgiven before God.

Gathering all this up is the road the Mother must walk. Only by thus connecting countless people and setting up a victorious standard—that is, a victorious condition—can one at last greet the day of blessing. Here too, one passes through a three-stage process.

That is why, seen historically, Eve came forth seeking her husband. Because Eve fell, she lost Adam, and because the people of Israel disbelieved, they lost Jesus, who was the bridegroom. That is why one must well uphold the Lord at the Second Advent, who comes in the Last Days. Thus, the Christian believers came forth, in the end, seeking one bridegroom.

But is greeting the bridegroom done in a slapdash way?

All the conditions in the background must fit exactly. Even in facing a family, if it be a family, a people if it be a people, or a nation if it be a nation, one is meant to face it with the four directions equipped; one must not face it as one pleases.

When one quietly observes the Unification Church family members, they are all people with a family defect. Seen centered on the Teacher, and centered on the Mother too, they all either have no elder brother, or are single, or have no parents—something is missing, a hole is bored in each one. Why must it be so? Because only when it is so does opposition, even if it comes, not catch on to everything. On such a standard, the Mother was chosen and set up.

One who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit is not forgiven. Going against God or Jesus can be forgiven, but going against the Holy Spirit is not forgiven. Why is that? Because the Holy Spirit is the one who represents the earth.

Then how must one act? We must equip a complete family and build the Kingdom of Heaven. But if, in this process, the family opposes, all of them become knotted in evil. That is why, to loosen this, there must be a family defect, a hole.

So, looking at the family members, they either have no parents or no elder brother; is that not so? That is fitting. And going into the background, the indemnity-type content must fit exactly. Seeing this, one can know how meticulously God works.

Indemnity and Restoration Must Be Done by Discerning for Oneself

The Teacher has done much work until now, and this is absolutely impossible for a human being. Because the Teacher did it upon a foundation on which God had prepared the environment, he could do this work; otherwise, it is absolutely impossible.

In Jesus’ day, because such an environment was not prepared, he spent more than thirty years as a bachelor and could not form a family, and because the environment was not equipped, he could not help but die.

In the parent’s carrying out their way, the child must not interfere. Therefore, in the Teacher carrying out the parent’s way, Sung-jin must not interfere. Sung-jin himself must act by discerning himself. That is, only by following what the parent does is one a child; if the child interferes with what the parent does, he cannot be set up in the position of a child.

If one could interfere as one pleased like that, would the history of restoration have been carried on until now? The history of restoration has all been done freely. This is something only the Teacher knows.

And you too, in passing through the stories of difficult twists, must go forward by discerning yourselves. That is why no one knows the work the Teacher does.

However close a person may be, in special matters, he does no more than run a mission-type errand. He does not go knowing all the before-and-after relations.

What the parent did wrong must end its responsibility with the parent; it must not be linked even to the child. On this, there is no way one is meant to answer. Would it do to think of all these things humanly and say this person is good and that person is bad?

Do you think indemnity would take place that way?

That is an absurd thing to say. Therefore, Sung-jin, too, does not know about it now, but when he truly comes to know about the Father, he will weep aloud.

Our Pledge on Greeting Parents’ Day

The fact that we, centered on the land of Korea, laid a heavenly foundation and unfolded the Will this far is a cosmic matter. And to bring this to a cosmic-historical conclusion, all people must unconditionally obey before such a tremendous task.

If the Teacher’s mind to do something in the world is ten, the heartistic story in the background is more than that. That is why God’s heart toward the earth is in a position more sorrowful than anyone’s.

If the Teacher wished to curse, he is in a position to do it no less than anyone. But the Teacher does not curse to establish his dignity. He is a body already resolved that, if from now on God tells him to do something else, he will do it. The Teacher is not a person who lives carelessly. He is a very thorough person.

If it is for the Will, the Teacher himself is a person resolved to die. When the Teacher went into prison, he did not think of coming out alive. He has come this far, firming up the final road with the mind that, if the Teacher dies while being loyal, God will set up a successor or somehow accomplish the Will. He has done all things with such a mind.

Since one must in any case pass through this road, in passing through this road, one does not walk over flat ground. One drags it out from within the fence of the prison. The Teacher, from within the fence of the prison, had to give his whole heart to understanding well the circumstances of the men and women. And you will not know the fact that he has come this far holding such evidence. When one goes to the spirit world hereafter, this will become a shame before God. So even if the Teacher wished to teach you, he could not.

The Teacher still has three passes remaining. This is something he cannot discuss with anyone. Whether coming or going, whether asleep or awake, there remains a complicated road on which he must connect Heaven and earth and connect this world.

Then how must one act here?

Here, however much a child shows filial piety, one cannot look to that filial son.

However loyal a subject there may be, in that place, one cannot look to the loyal subject. At that crisis, one must go utterly alone, without the help of a loyal subject or filial son.

Why is that?

To indemnify and restore the sin by which the parents of humanity toppled everything, one must stand in the position of such parents. The Teacher has come forth with such a mission and responsibility.

Therefore, though the Teacher knows he is in a position to appear in broad daylight and command all nations, because this world is satanic, to restore the satanic world, he is working beneath a cold, prison-bar-like shade. You will not know such things well.

For the Teacher, the problem is how to set up and depart with such an inner standard on which he can attend God and command in the bright open daylight.

Whether one lives well now or not is not the problem. Because there is a mission that must be accomplished hereafter through the direct lineage, the Teacher’s road is busy; being opposed and persecuted and so on is not the problem.

You have now come to know the Teacher to a certain degree. You are not fools and idiots. If you cannot believe it, try praying. This work cannot be done by any means or method. Yet this work the Teacher carries out governs world-historical content.

Then, greeting such a Parents’ Day, what must you feel?

God does not set up in one’s stead the position that the parent, whom He sought for six thousand years, can hold, nor the position of the parent as a parent who must indemnify.

Seen centered on the inner standard on which the Teacher has, until now, indemnified to set up the position of parent, you are indebted beyond words. You must feel that, by equipping such an inner standard in yourself, the heavenly Will is all the more firmed up.

When each of you strives to repay this on earth, the heavenly fortune opens up. If you do not do so, what is the difference between when you lived in the world and when you have come to live within the Will?

Now that you have crossed such a seven-year crisis, you must once again feel this story. You must consider how ardently God awaited setting up this day, and that, having set up this day, He is even now walking a course to establish the dignity of the parent and the responsibility of the parent.

Then what responsibility must you fulfill here?

You must fulfill the Abel-type responsibility. Considered centered on the Teacher’s family, your family stands in the Cain-type position. But once the Teacher’s family settles into place, your family comes to stand in such a position that it can indemnify itself from the Abel-type position. Would that all be done in a single morning, as with the Teacher?

And one thing you must know is how to connect the spirit world and the physical world. Seen centered on the ancestors, it has been connected—that is, vertically, such a condition has been made—but how is it to be connected horizontally?

On this problem, the Teacher is now agonizing considerably. And hereafter, these people must cross beyond the process of the offering, and for that, our Unification Church family members must stand at the head.

So, setting up the highest goal for the day when all people can be liberated, we must become people who pledge to be able to go forward today and tomorrow. Only then, I think, is there significance in greeting Parents’ Day.

And one thing you must know is how to connect the spirit world and the physical world. Seen centered on the ancestors, it has been connected—that is, vertically, such a condition has been made—but how is it to be connected horizontally?

On this problem, the Teacher is now agonizing considerably. And hereafter, these people must cross beyond the process of the offering, and for that, our Unification Church family members must stand at the head.
