1 Corinthians 15:20–58
As you know, today is the Day of All Things. Four years ago, we established the Day of All Things, and after establishing this day, we designated Holy Grounds throughout the whole country.
One Must Accomplish the Worldwide Chosen-People Right of the Third Israel
God’s providence to resolve the han of the fall began with the family of Adam. It was God’s will to restore, through their children Cain and Abel, what Adam and Eve had done in error, but because Cain murdered Abel, it brought about the sorrowful result of a second fall. And so the providence of restoration centered on the family of Adam came to be unable to be accomplished.
So God, in the stead of the eight members of Adam’s family, chose the eight members of Noah’s family and sought to restore the whole providence that had been lost in Adam’s family. But through the error of Ham, Noah’s second son, once again the will was not accomplished, and a long span of four thousand years flowed by, passing through Abraham, Moses, and John the Baptist, until the time of Jesus.
Jesus, to bring to conclusion for God the providence of restoration that had been prolonged for four thousand years because the human ancestor erred, had to set up the Israelite people horizontally and, together with historical indemnity, set up a national condition of indemnity and set out for the mission of a new age. This was the mission of Jesus and the Israelite people. For this mission, Jesus set out on the three-year course of public ministry.
But we know that it was the history of the New Testament (the Gospel) that had to set out on a second providential course, because the national, horizontal foundation—the substantial environment—that could indemnify the standard of vertical history collapsed.
Jesus sought to indemnify horizontally, centered on the foundation of the people, the whole historical error of the four thousand years of vertical history from Adam to Jesus’ own day; but because he could not accomplish it, he had no choice but to make a new start centered on the Gospel of the New Testament.
So from the very day he set out, what did Jesus have to do?
He had to organize a worldwide Second Israel that could stand in for God’s will and set out centered on them. That is, in the stead of the First Israel that had perished, he had to set out centered on the spiritual Second Israel.
Accordingly, how ought the first departure of Christian history that has continued until today to have been made?
It ought to have set out amid the glory of attending the Son of God. But it was not so. Because they drove the Messiah, who came in glory, onto the path of the cross, one must go to the place of believing in Jesus, who was resurrected through the cross, and pass through the course of the cross. Without that, one cannot form a bond with the resurrected Jesus.
Therefore, until now, Christianity has been climbing back up a course of reorganizing the historical age from the darkest place in the world of gloom.
Then what did the countless Christian believers who staked their lives for God’s will do, being sacrificed on the historical course?
The First Israel ought to have welcomed Jesus and restored everything through indemnity in that age, but because it could not and lost the standard of Israel, they, in the historical age, came securing the error of the First Israel and came making a worldwide realm of Israel. This is the history of Christianity.
But because Christianity did not stand in a complete position centered on spirit and flesh—that is, because it accomplished the realm of the Second Israel centered only on the spiritual standard, excluding the physical standard—the physical standard too must be accomplished. The day of accomplishing this physical standard is the day of the Second Advent.
The Christians who came forth desiring this one day must, upon the spiritual standard of the Second Israel, welcome the Lord who comes again and accomplish the worldwide chosen-people right of the Third Israel.
To Set Up the Substantial Standard of Israel
The word “Israel,” as you well know, means one who has prevailed. Then who prevailed? Jacob prevailed. Whom did Jacob fight and prevail over? He fought the angel and prevailed.
When Jacob, having finished the twenty-one-year course, went seeking his hometown, he fought a fight of final decision at the ford of the Jabbok. Though that fight was the fight of one individual, Jacob was an individual who stood in for the countless humans of that time. Jacob’s family, too, was a family that stood in for countless kindreds and peoples.
What does it mean that Jacob, in such a position, wrestled with the angel at the ford of the Jabbok?
It means that, because the human being fell and thereby came to be dominated by the angelic world, one must wage a fight to preside over that in reverse. Because there was such a heavenly plan, Jacob fought a fight at the ford of the Jabbok to decide victory or defeat with the angel.
Then what is the blessing Jacob had to obtain from the angel?
It is to inherit all the authority of the angelic world. Only then can one become a victor who can stand in for God’s providence upon the earth.
Jacob himself did not clearly know, but because the will of God’s providence was bonded through his heart and his original mind, he said he would not go unless the angel blessed him. Because Jacob thus staked his life and grappled, the angel was defeated. And so God set Jacob up in the glorious place of victory and gave him the name “Israel.”
After thus equipping a foundation of spiritual victory before the angel, Jacob went seeking his hometown. At that time Jacob’s position was such that he could not win complete victory without subduing Esau, who, when Jacob and his wife and children appeared, considered them to be enemies and sought to kill them.
So the providence of God, moving through Jacob’s original mind, brought Jacob the victory of the spiritual standard.
Then, who is the substance that, based on this spiritual standard of victory, must be fought and won substantially?
The substitute for that substance is precisely Esau. Though by bloodline he is Jacob’s elder brother, providentially Jacob and Esau are beings standing in for heaven and earth. Esau was a being standing in for the earth and Satan, and Jacob was a being standing in for heaven and God.
Then what is the fall?
The fall is that the angel presided over Adam and Eve. For Jacob to receive the blessing of Israel, he had to set up an individual standard of victory and a family standard of victory. And so, because the elder brother Esau welcomed Jacob, the spiritual blessing God had promised Jacob as “Israel” was at last accomplished, centered on substance. Thereby, the standard of Israel could be established. That is, because Esau submitted to Jacob, from there a new history could begin.
What does this mean?
It means that God, on the providential course of salvation until now, could not preside over the human being at will. He could not preside spiritually, nor could He preside physically. Therefore, God must set up, upon the ground on which spiritual victory was set up, a standard of physical victory and preside over the human being upon that standard.
Why is that so?
At the time of creation, when God presided, there was no such thing as the fall. Because it was the original principle of creation that God presides in a place freed from the fall—that is, in a place having no bond with the fall—He must preside over a person standing in such a place. Because there is such a providence of God, Israel set out centered on the foundation Jacob won.
Then where must the Israelite people, who set up a national standard and made a new start, go?
Because a foundation of God’s providence must without fail be prepared, the blessed Israelite people do not set out from a place of glory but must abandon the place of glory and walk the path of a pioneer.
The Path the Israelite People Must Go
Then, where is that land to be pioneered?
It is precisely this earth. To set up the authority of a pioneer and decide the final standard of victory, how must one go? Pioneering from an easy place, one cannot decide the standard of victory as a pioneer.
One must go to the hardest place. Therefore, God drove the Israelite people into an unimaginable region of hardship. And so they came to pass through the course of the toil of Egypt.
In carrying out the mission of a pioneer, one must stand in the hardest place. This is the strategy of God, who carries on the providence. Therefore, the people who stepped forth saying they would stand in for the whole world and stand in for God’s will must not be welcomed by Satan in every respect.
This is God’s absolute formula.
When one steps forth shouldering a mission for the sake of good and for the sake of God, if Satan welcomes him, there is a great possibility that he will rather cross over to Satan’s side, so one is made to appear equipped in a direction 180 degrees different. The method is simple.
On the day Satan welcomes a good person, good multiplies and utterly ruins the world of evil; therefore, Satan, the ringleader of evil, sets up all kinds of opposing conditions and drives the people God set up.
Then how does Satan drive them?
At first, he drives individually. Next, he drives at the family level. Going further, he drives at the national, state, and worldwide levels.
Therefore, until today, the history of Christianity has not been welcomed in any age. It came forth as unwelcome individually, in the family, in the people, or nationally and worldwide. Yet to be struck and taken back is God’s strategy.
You must clearly know that our countless ancestors, passing through two thousand years of history, came to build an altar of blood as they were struck and came to connect a traditional thought.
Despite this, the believers of the established churches today, holding a delusional faith that they will go to heaven merely by believing, are boasting loudly as though they had entered the Kingdom of Heaven.
Then what kind of thought is Christian thought today?
It is a thought of resurrection, which came to connect the altar of death to a new altar. But the Christians of today have forgotten this thought of resurrection.
Jacob, Who Prized God’s Blessing, and Esau, Who Did Not
Because from the family of Adam, Abel was beaten to death, and thereby a bloody history set out; the Christians of today must without fail cross over the ridge of blood and win victory.
Therefore, Jesus too walked the path of the cross, carrying out the mission of the Savior. Because God carries on the providence centered on the Principle and its principles, His strategy in that providence is not many but one.
What is that strategy?
It is to enter the satanic world and occupy Satan’s den. Therefore, Jacob too did so to receive the blessing. You must consider how much Jacob must have thought, seeing that he won victory with bread and lentil stew.
How many cunning deeds did Jacob do?
But it had to be done so. You know it from having learned the Principle, but Jacob poured out all devotion to seize the position of the firstborn who could receive God’s blessing. His life was a life solely for that.
When Jacob came to know that the bond of his ancestors who had received God’s blessing had continued down to himself, he thought of God more than anyone. And he knew that God’s blessing upon his ancestors was greater than anyone’s. And so, in the standard of heart, God too could not disregard Jacob. Jacob had to hold a heart surpassing the blessing Abraham received and actually had to show how precious the person and the people who inherit God’s blessing are.
You must know that Jacob lived, waking and sleeping, within the idea of the blessing. He lived with a standard that even Satan could not but acknowledge.
Because Jacob had such an inner standard of heart that God could not but bless him, taking away the birthright was not a problem. And Jacob thought of the value of his blessed forefathers more greatly than anyone and thought of the value of God, who blessed them more greatly than anyone.
Jacob, thinking of how God had blessed Abraham, thought of the blessed Israelite people. Because he had received from God the blessing, “Your descendants shall multiply like the stars of heaven and the sand of the earth,” he longed more than anyone for the Israelite people to be blessed as a worldwide Israel.
With such a heart, Jacob gave bread and lentil stew to his elder brother Esau and instead received the blessing of the firstborn from Isaac. But because Esau did not know how precious the grace of God’s blessing is, he treated Jacob’s words as a joke. He who thought God’s blessing worthless had to withdraw from the place of receiving the blessing. Because it thus became a condition that even Satan could acknowledge, the bond of the three generations of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob could at last be established here.
Jacob’s Desire—To Bring God’s Blessing to Fruition
Here, Abraham and Isaac made much of being blessed by God, but Jacob made much of bringing that blessing to fruition and came forth desiring it. This is the difference.
Abraham and Isaac liked being blessed, but Jacob had his own viewpoint of desire in bringing the blessing to fruition. Seen from this point, being blessed is not the issue; bringing the blessing to fruition is the issue.
Bringing the blessing to fruition is not something done sitting still. Nor is it enough merely for the blessed people of Israel to come alive.
One must press for the setting up of an individual foundation, must press for the setting up of a family, national, state, and worldwide foundation, and must build a fundamental foundation in heaven and on earth. This is precisely the standard of victory God desires.
Jacob did not obtain the title “Israel” from God by himself alone. It is a result obtained by Jacob’s family becoming one. You must clearly know that victory or defeat is decided not in the individual but through the family.
The Determination of Victory in the Providence of Restoration
In the family of Adam too, what Adam and Eve did in falling came to bear its fruit at the family level through Cain’s murder of Abel. That is, Adam and Eve sowed the seed of the family-level fall, and Cain and Abel bore the fruit of the family-level fall.
From here, two worlds began to unfold. And so world history split into two branches. We know the fact that, centered on whatever people, when the positive (正) appears, the negative (反) without fail appears, and when good appears, evil without fail appears.
What equipped this in a worldwide form is democracy and communism. And democracy and communism, too, each split into two branches. And so there will come an age equipped with four forms. That time is precisely the age of the final judgment.
You will know these facts well through the Principle. The present forms of nations coincide with all the facts the Principle speaks of.
The standard of the family-level fight in the family of Adam was the same in Moses’s age. Jacob, in the position of being set up before God individually and as a family, to fully carry out that responsibility, must prepare an individual foundation of victory and prepare a family foundation of victory.
Then how did Jacob have to act to prepare the family foundation of victory?
To prepare the family foundation of victory, Jacob had to bear even the family cross. Jacob winning alone does not make him a son of God. Only when he prepares a foundation on which, bearing even the family cross, he can go before God, does he at last obtain a foundation of victory.
Then how did the Israelite people have to act, centered on Jacob’s foundation of victory?
When Jacob comes to stand in a position of being able to fulfill the family-level responsibility, the Israelite people must equip a standard by which they can restore through indemnity even to the position of the clan and the kindred. When they do so, the accusing condition of Satan remaining within the realm of relatives can be centered on Jacob’s family. Here the fight unfolds.
For the individual to win complete victory, the whole family must stand upon a foundation on which, bearing the cross, it can attack the satanic world. And to decide the family-level victory, the family itself is not enough. With the family alone, one cannot go on accomplishing God’s will. To accomplish the will, one must go to a family in the enemy’s world and win.
That is why Jacob went to the house of Laban. Thus, fighting in the satanic world, one must prepare the family foundation of victory.
To decide the family-level victory, one must become a victor who can indemnify the entire kindred-level cross. One must think of the arrows received from the kindred with thanks and make a kindred-level foundation of victory. Had Jacob’s family done so, it could have expanded even to the realm of the kindred.
To bring individual, family, and kindred victory to conclusion and pioneer a national foundation of victory, the seventy of Jacob’s family entered the land of Egypt and suffered all kinds of trials. Though they suffered trials in a foreign land, the Israelite people were a people who represented not merely one nation but, in terms of the will, the world.
Thus, the Israelite people, who represented the world, were trampled and torn. But if, there, fully rendering loyalty and filial piety before God, not losing the realm of Israel’s providence for the sake of God’s will, and taking hold of the bond God set up, they went forward, rather the multitude that struck them broke, and they could set out for a new world.
Therefore, in order for the Israelite people to have a foundation of victory, even if they receive a national invasion outwardly, they must, not bending to it, set up a standard of victory.
The Israelite people who entered the land of Canaan must prepare to set out, treading over new trials and sufferings, for the sake of worldwide restoration to Canaan.
The Israelite people had to return to the land of Canaan, uphold God’s will, and, at the same time as firmly consolidating a national foundation, prepare a foundation on which they could overcome and step forth from a worldwide chaotic environment. Thereafter, however strong the Roman Empire, they had to guide it to Heaven’s side.
Jesus, Who Came to Set Up the Foundation of Worldwide Victory
Had the Israelite people done so, centered on that foundation, they could, at the national standard, have crossed over the worldwide trial and grown, together with the Messiah, into a worldwide sovereign nation.
But the Israelite people, meeting the worldwide trial, did not take responsibility. Jesus had to take over the historical foundation of victory won through individuals, families, kindred, and people, but because the whole Israelite people opposed Jesus, the historical standard of victory set up before God through individuals, families, kindred, and people all collapsed.
Therefore, Jesus, resolved to offer his life, stepped forth to secure anew even the standard of individual victory, family victory, national victory, and state victory. This was Jesus’ three-year course of public ministry.
Thus God, passing through the ages of individual, family, kindred, and people, at last sent the Messiah. The place the Messiah must go seeking is the position of the worldwide center.
For the Messiah to advance to that position, the Israelite people themselves had to equip a complete preparation to overcome the course of worldwide trial centered on God’s will. And, cultivating a national foundation, becoming one with John the Baptist, the representative leader of the nation, welcoming the Messiah, and forming one body, they had to endure and cross over worldwide trials and suffering.
If, centered on Jesus, they crossed over worldwide trials and suffering, then, however great a world power the Roman Empire was, because God was behind them, it could not withstand the Israelite people. Had the Israelite people become one with Jesus, the power of the Roman Empire would have been no problem. Had they only driven off the Roman Empire, from then on the world could have crossed over to Heaven’s side. But because this was not done, the second providence to find this again was prolonged for two thousand years.
As for what kind of age the Last Days are, they are an age in which all the historical whole is indemnified. So a chaotic age comes. Religion, economy, culture—everything gets swept up into chaos. That is why words come out that the Last Days have come, that the Lord is coming, that one must go through our group and cannot be saved except through us.
Everything seems, on the surface, to unfold in one flat age, but seen from behind, it is a reality in which the historical and the whole are entangled. Because the reality is in such a worldwide vortex, it is confused.
Such a time is a time when the purpose of religion grows dim, and a time when the purpose of philosophy too grows dim. It is a time when the purpose of the family grows dim, a time when the purpose of the people too grows dim, a time when the purpose of the nation too grows dim. Everything that aims at a purpose grows dim.
At such a time, a person who can secure the individual and secure everything of the family, kindred, people, nation, and world must appear and unfold a departure toward a new second world centered on God. Without such a world coming, God’s will cannot be accomplished.
To Win Complete Victory, the Word and the Substance Must Become One
Then why is such a world required once again?
Because the human being fell. So, to attain the purpose God desires, such a world is required once again.
Originally, had the human being not fallen, it would have become a world of God’s sovereignty, not a world of Satan’s sovereignty. It would have become an -ism that is neither communism nor democracy. That means an -ism of the father and, at the same time, an -ism of the son.
Centered on God, an -ism of the father and an -ism of the son would have begun. But did such an -ism come to be? It did not. Centered on God, not even an -ism of the servant came to begin. So we became a multitude expelled and driven out even from the satanic world.
Because we passed through such a process, today we have lost the master and have not even become the servant. To what stage has humanity fallen today? It has fallen even to the stage of the servant of servants.
What is the servant of servants?
Satan is God’s servant, and, having become the servant of that Satan, one is nothing but the servant of servants. The people of the world, not even knowing that they are in such a position, think that if they believe in Jesus, they become sons of God.
Centered on the Word alone, one cannot win victory. Without equipping a substance that is one body with the Word, one cannot win in the fight. In an actual fight, the Word itself can be nothing but propaganda. With propaganda alone, one cannot bring an actual result and cannot bring the fight to a conclusion of victory.
People often say, Let us believe in Jesus and go to heaven. But did God, when He originally made the human being, make him go to heaven merely by believing?
When one lives a Kingdom-of-Heaven life upon the earth and accomplishes the Kingdom of Heaven, God is set to come down. In Revelation chapter 21, from where to where does it say the city of Jerusalem comes? Does it say it goes up, or that it comes down?
Does God acknowledge, “You believe well,” just because one offers a dead sacrifice before Him? Can all peoples and all humankind be saved that way?
Is it all right to say to all peoples and all humankind, “If you do not believe, you go to hell, and if you believe, you go to heaven”? Has the one who says so been to hell and been to heaven? Such teaching and belief are a bluff and a threat.
In the Last Days, such things come to an end. What is the fall? It is not to have seen the end of darkness. To have seen the end not of despair but of hope—that is precisely the fall.
Therefore, if one knows the course of history that began with the fall, one must know how to see the end of the hope that was set up, centered on God, as the ideal of creation. Because it is the historical fate to gaze toward that time, the time when we must live together with God is certain to come around.
But the current of thought, centered on humanism and the Renaissance of the sixteenth century, anthropocentric thought developed to the utmost degree, has, coming to today, expelled even God. And so it has entered a place of disliking such things as “God” and “religion.” It is unfolding a movement to expel God. This is flunkeyism.
In such a position, the satanic world has driven the Unification Church. When the time comes that all humankind dislikes God and dislikes religion, that time is precisely the Last Days.
Therefore, a movement to recover the lost God must unfold. Such a movement is the new-religion movement of the new age. Unless philosophy and science and our environment of daily life, from that standard, make a religious view that can prove God, one cannot change this world into a new world.
When the Last Days come to this world today, the unbelievers, of course, cannot go, but can all believers go to heaven?
It would be good if they could. It is clearly written in the Bible that they go, is it not? If it is as written in the Bible, the satanic world must be expelled.
Satan and we alike have the same mind of wanting to go to the Kingdom of Heaven. Do you know this? Satan is grappling with God, saying, “God, if You now replace me as the ancestor of humankind, I will offer this whole universe before You and give my full loyalty.” But because the law of heaven is not so ordained, it cannot become so.
How much do you know of God’s circumstances and heart?
Can you say that you merely believe and go to heaven without knowing God’s heart and circumstances? However much the Teacher looks into it and looks into it again, it is not so.
The Phenomena of the Last Days and Right Life of Faith
What the Unification Church says is not a vague “it will probably be so.”
Does your mind still go back and forth? With such a frame of mind, will you go the path of the will?
At the end of the historical age, everything grows dim. The religion I believed in, the thought I liked, even communism—all grow dim.
Communism, too, from now on, comes to split into two branches. Look at the communist satellite states of Europe. Now Romania, too, is changing into a national communism. When this comes to be equipped in a world-ism form, national democracy too changes into ethnic democracy.
What can open the door in the Last Days is no -ism, no thought, and no human being either. It is God alone. And one must clearly know that there is a Lord who comes to open this door. Because, however much fallen humanity fully renders loyalty, there is no way to open it, the messianic-expectation thought is that a master who can, upholding all the will of the law of heaven, open this door, must come.
Then, when the Messiah comes, how will he come?
Does he come riding on clouds?
If he came riding on clouds, God would already have destroyed this world of sin entirely. And it is written in the Bible that He casts them all at once into the pit of fire; if it were to be so, why would God have led human history for six thousand years?
When Jesus comes again, he absolutely does not come riding on clouds.
You clever young people, how do you think of Jesus’ Second Advent?
According to the Bible, Jesus is set to descend holily riding on clouds with the sound of the Archangel’s trumpet. Do you believe such a thing actually happens?
Do you say you believe the Bible so recorded literally, as it stands?
For example, the people of the Unification Church are trying to travel to the moon riding on an artificial satellite, while the people of the established churches are doing the same, digging a hole in the ground and trying to take refuge there.
Now an age is coming in which one goes and lives on the moon. In America, there is the Cape Kennedy Space Center, but we have the Cape Unification Church. Here, let us fire a rocket to go to the moon. Even at the cost of going to the moon and falling dead there, one must not do the act of merely digging a hole in the ground.
In an age like today, with such a delusional faith, one cannot do a great work fitting for the age. We must become pioneers who can, crossing over history, preside over the age and pioneer the environment.
We must become sons and daughters of God equipped with the real ability and real authority to make the enemy flee in terror, scattered out of their wits. Except for such a person, one cannot go to the Kingdom of Heaven.
People these days marry off their sons as they please, marry off their daughters as they please, eat as they please, dress as they please, do everything as they please, and only then, at last, call upon God. Do you think you can go to the Kingdom of Heaven after doing so?
In the end-time age, such complicated environments unfold. It is so in the world of faith, so in the world of thought, and such an environment unfolds in the family too. Though they put forward the three bonds and five relationships of Confucian thought and say to fully render the duty of filial piety before parents, that duty is breaking down.
Where is your mother? Where is the married couple? Where are the siblings? “Oh dear, that is no concern of mine!” — This is how they come out. It is the same regarding the master, too.
Why the Unification Church Came Forth in a Dark World
Therefore, in the Last Days, one cannot set up any sign that can set right such chaos. Because it set out from what was dark, it appears as a dark result.
Therefore, the humankind of the whole world, seized by the power of darkness and saying there is no path to go, cannot but raise their hands and wail. They cannot but shed tears of wailing, saying, “Save me. Kill me.”
Because Adam and Eve sowed with tears, one must reap with tears. Therefore, fallen human beings in the Last Days must, longing for God in their hearts, say, “God, save me.”
One must be able to shed tears in a place of taking responsibility, saying that one will, with the sorrow of history, stand in for God’s sorrow, and, in the stead of the complication of the age, resolve God’s complication. The people of this world wailed centered on themselves, but we must shed tears centered on this world.
God is longing for one who sheds tears for the sake of one public will, rather than one who sheds tears because of some individual hope.
When Adam and Eve fell and came to be driven out of the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve shed sorrowful tears. God, showing a heart of compassion, has longed for one day to resurrect us, their descendants, into an unfallen position. But the expelled human being became a great villain who cannot be historically boasted of.
But because God has a bond of heart by which He must restore such a human being, He has, passing through Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus, borne it until now and carried on the providence of salvation. Thinking of such grace, we must appeal before God with a historical bond of heart, not a bond of the present heart.
The Teacher, holding such a heart, is fighting to unfold such a mission worldwide. Will you take part in this fight? The Teacher is different from Adam of old. And he is different from Moses, too.
Only by holding something that can, before God, sustain a historical heart and an epochal heart, and further a future heart of hope, can one cross over the condition of compassion and go forward.
Why did the Unification Church come forth in such a dark world?
At such a time, the Unification Church came forth, saying, Let us unify the world. Then, from where does one begin unification? As the principle of the providence of restoration is such, one must set out from one.
Since the Unification Church today has come forth, setting out from one, what path must it go? It must go walking again, repeating the path it walked historically.
Even if the three billion of humankind step forth with swords, spears, and guns to kill Teacher Moon of the Unification Church, the Teacher will by no means fall and die. Even at the cost of falling and rolling in the fight, the Teacher wins the victory. From such a place, the Unification Church has developed until now.
Though I am thankful that you attended the Day of All Things event today, I have something a little disappointing about your gathering here. The will of the Unification Church is to restore and find and set up even wicked people. You here were the cousins and distant kin of those who fiercely oppose the Unification Church.
If we settled accounts one-on-one with the opposers, you too could not dare sit here, and even if a seat were emptied and you were told to sit, you could not. But because God is protecting you, you received the epochal benefit of the providence of restoration; you have come to be able to dare set foot here.
The Teacher always thinks of Joseph. How forlorn Joseph must have been when he was driven by his brothers, Jacob’s ten sons!
What must his heart have been when he was sold to the merchants of Egypt?
But Joseph, even in the place of dying, fallen into a waterless well, found a path by which he could live, and at the age of thirty became the prime minister of Egypt. What must his heart have been like later, when his brothers begged to be spared?
The Path the Unification Church Has Walked
The Teacher offered a prayer to God before the Vatican Palace. He prayed, “O God, here is set up a church that in two thousand years of history has well over six hundred million believers. But when I consider what will become of them, I cannot help but be anxious. I shall unify into one, as God the Father wishes, the countless divided denominations and religious bodies.”
That place is the head seat and also the gathering point of European civilization. It is a place where the essence of European civilization is gathered. But the Teacher prayed with a mind of God being with me; just wait and see.
When the true and the false collide, it is a principle that the false breaks. Our Unification Church, centered on the seven-year course, has until now gone to the provinces and collided as fiercely as could be.
With us, on whom the traces of a blood-soaked history remain, God is together. Because a blood-soaked administration of struggle dwells in us, we must wake the sleeping people and plant God’s shield of victory.
The history in which we thus fought was a history of shedding blood, sweat, and tears. It is a history that, to anyone whose marrow is that of a normal person, cannot be looked upon without tears. In the master who has led you, there remains a han steeped in the breast.
The mind wanting to curse these people before God was steeped a thousand, ten thousand times, but because the course of the providence of restoration remained, I could not do so. To greet the fortune of restoration, one must, embracing the sorrow and han of the people, overcome harsh wind and frost and bring a result of victory.
Let us endure and go forward toward the day when all peoples can at last acknowledge our value. You must know that we have, until now, wound our way through the bends of historical sorrow.
The young men and women of the Unification Church who have come in recently will not know this well. How many were the times when, for the sake of one family member, we went seeking down a road of a hundred li, and, meeting, the two of us embraced and wailed!
When we parted after meeting family members dozens of li away, how many were the times when, out of reluctance, one followed out, then went back in, then followed out again, then parted, meeting three, four, and more times?
You must know that here there is a sorrow the people of the world do not know. The bond of one’s own blood kin—that is, the bond in the satanic world—is not the issue.
Forming, centered on God, a bond of parents who are not parents and siblings who are not siblings, going seeking a path at which God alone could rejoice, we walked the path of being driven.
This morning, too, the Teacher thought over the path he had walked until now. What I prayed before God, thinking of a certain moment of a certain age, fit exactly.
The content I prayed when I went into North Korea fit exactly. I recalled the time when, coming to South Korea, the Teacher, crossing difficult crises, prayed a prayer of showdown before God.
I knew that God’s making me suffer was not to make me perish, nor was it to drive me out to die, but was to make me greet a moment of hope out of greater temptation and turmoil. Seen centered on the historical course, it was a process passed through for the sake of a certain moment.
Thinking of the Father’s complicated heart, who had to wait, after Adam, until finding the one person, Jesus, I could not but give thanks before God, who made me endure and bear it to guide me to a greater path.
We must think of unification, waking, and sleeping. Walking this seven-year course, we must know that it cannot be done without subduing the communist party, our enemy.
Because this nation has rejected us until now, how greatly delayed has the accomplishment of God’s will been?
Only recently have words begun to circulate that it cannot be done without the Unification Church. Not only for the nation, but for Asia to live, it cannot be done except by our ideology. Now we have set out. Therefore, we must rouse ourselves the more.
One Must Be Able to Govern the Spiritual World
In a time of tribulation, everything Satan has spread out collapses. Everything that boasts of being fine all collapses.
Adam and Eve fell while boasting of being fine, did they not?
Boasting of being fine is the root nature of the fallen nature. Satan is self-first-ism, individual-first-ism. He says, “Parents, siblings—what are all these?” Such is the outer chaos, but harder still is the spiritual chaos.
There was a fact that a certain elder denounced the Unification Church, was there not?
The Teacher, unlike them, has never called anyone a heretic, nor prayed for anyone to die.
When the Teacher quietly observed, many people were praying for me to die. Such words came to my ears. But if those who prayed for me to die fell, they fell, while the Teacher was fine.
Even when I was in North Korea, the pastors who threw the Teacher into prison all had their necks fly off. The Teacher did not pray for them to die, but God was not indifferent. Having been in such a pit, even when I came to South Korea, I received countless oppositions from the people. Thinking of these things, the point is that the Principle must be spread to all people as quickly as possible.
Ninety-five percent of the indemnity has been done, but you must know that the five percent of the indemnity you must still do remains.
The outer chaos of this world is chaos indeed, but the greatest chaos is the spiritual chaos. We know that Jacob, upon the ground of spiritual victory, decided on physical victory, received the title of Israel, and became a victor.
Likewise, on this world stage today too, one must become a prince of victory who can first preside over the spiritual world and then preside over the physical world. Otherwise, one cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
You must clearly know this fact.
If Korean people today have some cancerous thing that can be dyed with any thought of Satan’s side, one absolutely cannot go to the Kingdom of Heaven.
However much communism gives brainwashing education, it cannot brainwash a person equipped with the ideology of the Unification Church.
Can you become a communist?
Knowing that God exists, one cannot become a communist. One cannot dye us with that thought.
The Teacher said that from 1966, spiritual works began. I have already spoken of why chaos unfolds in the spiritual world, have I not? These days, a spiritually chaotic wind is blowing in the established churches.
Do you know why?
It is because they do spiritual works without knowing God’s will well. But if there are people who can secure this chaos of the spiritual world, they become sons and daughters of God.
Advance with Firm Conviction
How dignified and splendid it would be if, God protecting, one held God’s authority and value and had content that could stand in for God’s whole authority and omnipotence! Therefore, people who come into our Spiritual Association and say they do not know whether it is true or false are people who have gone wrong. Such a person should pack up his bundle and go back.
God seeks a prince who wins victory in this world today, a prince who can stand in for history, a prince who can take responsibility for the future.
Accordingly, one family is needed that can attend such a prince, and a kindred is needed, a people is needed, a nation is needed, and also a world is needed. If you, together with the hope of God’s providence of restoration, reach the final destination, what could be lacking there?
It is so now because you do not know, but once you die and go to the spiritual world, you will know whether the Unification Church is true or not. Such-and-such a pastor, such-and-such a doctor, take the Teacher lightly, but the point is, just wait and see. Let us see who breaks when we collide. We will break through without difficulty.
The Teacher, going about the whole world, could hold such conviction more firmly. I have the conviction and confidence to suppress and break through any obstacle whatsoever. Do you, too, have such confidence?
When you listen to the radio, there is more static at dawn or in the daytime than at night, is there not?
When there is a great deal of static, it is quite interesting to listen to the sound of the static. Likewise, in a chaotic world, we must find children who can listen to and follow the Teacher’s Word from the very beginning to the end. Are you willing to listen to other words? You must go forward with a firm conviction.
Such a place is the Unification Church. This place is enormous. What is not so does not suit the Teacher’s constitution. The Teacher dislikes petty things.
The Unification Church is the head headquarters. Centered on this place, everything that has gone wrong must be liquidated. People who have come in here must not lose their own original place. The fall is the loss of one’s own position.
The loss of one’s original place centered on God is the fall. Since this fact is certain, you must not lose your place.
I Will Not Fall Under Koreans’ Incomprehension and Opposition
History has continued, tracing a spiral. That is, it unfolds by simultaneity. Even as the individual form grows into the family form and the people form, it unfolds centered on one source.
So this age today, like the Roman age of old, is entering within the realm of the age of democracy. Seen providentially, America today corresponds to a worldwide Rome.
If, centered on Korea, the will of providence is accomplished and the Unification Church has shouldered such a grave historical mission, what must the Unification Church do?
It must unify the world with the conviction and spirit to subdue and restore through indemnity Rome, which conquered the world—Rome, the enemy nation that killed Jesus.
The Republic of Korea is not the issue. Some people say that if the Unification Church moves like this, in a few years it will become the Unification Church’s world, and perhaps Teacher Moon means to try to become president. It cannot but be a truly disappointing word. Had there been such a mind, I would already have become president. But becoming president is not the issue. For me, saving the world is the issue.
Last time, when the Teacher went to America, he told former President Eisenhower to put three great conditions into practice. He asked how the historical problem, the religious problem, and the ideological problem would be dealt with.
At first, a five-minute meeting time had been set. But twenty more minutes passed. When I said I would go, he, reluctant, took me up again to the second floor and showed me his living quarters. And he gave me a keepsake unforgettable in his whole life. He also boasted of such things as what he had done with people like Churchill and Stalin.
Our Unification Church must make America its first airfield—the first airfield! When one young person appears from the Unification Church and says something to the whole world, it will do if people sympathize, saying that it is indeed so.
Today, too, congratulatory telegrams came from Italy, America, and France. Why would foreign countries send congratulatory telegrams? Yet in Korea, they regard the Unification Church as nothing and make a fuss, hurling abuse. Thinking of such things, the Teacher laughed to himself in his heart.
Last time, when I went to America, I met world-famous, spiritually attuned people. At that time, the Teacher asked them three or four times how such-and-such problems of the world ought to be solved, but they could not answer and were flustered.
Everyone, now throughout America and Europe, a great rumor has arisen about Teacher Moon of the Unification Church. Of course, a rumor has arisen in Korea too. Just wait and see the pastors of the Korean churches hereafter—whether they receive reward or punishment from God.
The Teacher has stepped forth in the stead of the historical, the epochal, and the future. Hereafter, I will scatter, in every corner of the world, leaflets bearing the Teacher’s photograph. There will be a great many people who come seeking.
In the Bible, it says,
“Let him who has ears hear. Let him who has eyes see. Let him who has wisdom understand.”
Then do you have ears, and eyes, and wisdom?
The Unification Church is truly a strange place. Ordinary people do not know it well, but it is curious and interesting. Because the Teacher has responsibility for everything, he is doing such things here.
How much has our Unification Church been rejected, persecuted, and abused? But we will by no means fall.
Even when the Teacher went into prison and, beaten, vomiting blood, collapsed, I did not pray a prayer before God, worrying about myself. I endured, resolving inwardly, “Father, I am different from the prophets of old and from Jesus.” I did not pray a trifling, unmanly, feeble prayer of “God, save me.” I prayed no prayer apart from a prayer solely for the sake of God.
When God has placed expectation and hope on one, does it do to make a woeful face because one has become a prisoner and pray to be saved? To do so is unmanly.
In the Japanese colonial period, too, I was driven by the Japanese louts; in North Korea, I was driven by the communist party, and in the democratic world, too, I was driven. But even being driven, the Teacher will go forward to the world. However much they persecute and drive, I will go. In the end, the strong one wins the victory. They may persecute with the power of one century or two, but the Teacher is fighting, staking a thousand centuries—no, all of history.
The Bygone Days in Which I Did My Utmost
People say they thought the Unification Church would perish, but it does not perish. We absolutely do not perish. Does it perish, or not? It does not perish. Even if they cut off the Teacher’s neck, it does not perish.
The Teacher will not leave behind the sorrow of a loser like Jesus but will, without fail, plant the signpost of victory.
The Teacher, throughout forty years of life, lived not knowing a daytime nap, and only recently has at last slept a little. Before that, however tired, he lived with the heart of, how could I take a daytime nap when the fight is not yet over?
In this world, countless believers fully render devotion and loyalty to God. One must become the foremost among them. One must pull out the nail driven into the breast because of God’s unspeakable heart, the han of six thousand years.
These days, spiritually attuned individuals say that Korea is the nation to which the Lord comes. But they do not know how he comes. What use is it, not knowing even that, to say what will become of Korea?
Do you know what becomes of them if they go on just as they are and go to the spiritual world?
They will meet an unspeakable calamity. Yet they may pop out from some corner and testify to something again.
Along with such interesting matters, we have lived interestingly even while being abused. In those days, I never slept before two in the morning. The average sleep time per day was two hours. Thus, for seven years, I poured out all devotion for the sake of God. Not sleeping, not eating, not clothing myself, being persecuted, being driven, being beaten—even so, I lived on.
Occasionally, a person holding two potatoes, calling upon the Teacher, shedding tears; a person with a wounded head seeking the Teacher—thus the Teacher of the Unification Church saw many an indescribably forlorn exhibition of humanity. But what can be done?
Who forced you to follow?
You came because you wanted to come. You say you came bewitched? Who bewitched you? You were bewitched by the Teacher. You say the Teacher performs some sorcery? What sorcery? He performs heavenly art (天術)—heavenly art. Even so, those were the best of times.
The Teacher, even now, wishes to vomit blood and stamp the seal of his five fingers upon the floorboards. This hand is the hand that came forth knowing the fact that, even when I quarreled with someone of old and a great wound was inflicted, the one who leads to final victory is God.
The Teacher knows well that God the Father saved me and has placed hope in me. The Teacher is offering a prayer in his heart to God, “Having stepped forth resolved upon death several thousand times over, be not anxious.”
Even when I was being chased about, when people were hungry and asked for food, I gave them food. At that time, I gave it to some ten-odd pastors of the established churches too. Thinking of it now, the memory of that time is quite fresh.
When I was in Hungnam prison in North Korea, a certain pastor was brought in with his son-in-law, driven in as reactionaries. At that time, the son-in-law fell ill and was nearly dying, yet I noticed that the man who was a pastor, though he had medicine, would not give it.
When the Teacher was in prison, he made many disciples even without speaking.
Because there is such a thing, even if all heaven and earth collapse, there is no change whatever in the Teacher’s heart. In going toward Heaven’s will, I have the confidence and resolve to overcome and win victory over everything. Because there is such conviction, I set out on this path.
Let those who opposed the Unification Church oppose once more. The point is, do not make a fuss inside your house, but step forth and oppose once more so that the Unification Church cannot exert its strength.
Would Teacher Moon of the Unification Church oppose in return for that?
I will just leave them to do as they do. Instead, the point is to entrust their religious body to me for just one week. Whether they become Unification members or not.
Out of fear, they say the Unification Church is a fearsome place, so do not go. They say a storm rages there, and an earthquake occurs, so do not go. God is the same God—how can they say, Do not go? When you came here, did a storm rage and an earthquake occur?
You must, with the conviction that though history flows on, I remain, striding freely toward the great universe. The point is, in going forward with such conviction, there is no one who can dare follow the Teacher. It is not a boast but a fact.
If you do not believe it, then, even at the cost of a forty-day fasting prayer, find out whether it is false or true. Before knowing this, one has no qualification to oppose.
The Principle in Which There Is No Forgiveness
The Unification Church, awakening from a sleeping world, is active everywhere to take responsibility for this world. Therefore, with a single letter from the Teacher, a path is open to go anytime to Europe and anywhere in the world. A little further on, one will be able to meet at will even the statesmen who move nations. It would be good if it became so, would it not? So it would be good to inject the Teacher’s thought into them, would it not? (Yes.)
When autumn comes and the time for the grain to ripen draws near, typhoons often blow. Do you know why? It is that they blow so that whatever is not well ripened may all be snapped and knocked down.
Likewise, all who come into the Unification Church must pass through a course of indemnity centered on the law of the Principle.
In the Principle, there is no forgiveness. Even if a grandfather comes in, he must pass through this formula. The countless righteous of every generation, too, had to live by this formula. To revise the law that one plus two is three, one would have to change all the academic systems in history.
A people who can overturn the whole of what has gone wrong historically must appear. We must change this. Every human being, now or a thousand years hence, must live by the formula of the law of heaven. We must, to set up this formula, separate off what has gone wrong until now.
For what reason is our Unification Church great today?
On the course of restoration by which the human being goes seeking God, one must pass through a formulaic procedure. This formulaic procedure must be passed through by the ancestors who died, by me now, and by the descendants to come.
In that formula, there is no forgiveness, and that is precisely the correct law. Because such content is in the Unification Church, it is great.
In the Korean religious world, Elder Park, Elder Na, and this elder and that are all doing propaganda toward the masses; so why does Teacher Moon of the Unification Church not appear?
The point is, it is all right not to appear. Because he has produced many offspring. (laughter) I should like to see the sight of all the people of the world being witnessed to by the Teacher’s disciples and toppling over.
I heard that these days the family members who go witnessing at Pagoda Park are asked whether Teacher Moon of the Unification Church is tall or short and whether he is young. The Teacher is still young. I am a young man in my twenties, am I not? (laughter) Then how old are those who oppose the Unification Church? They are in their forties and sixties.
So what will happen after they have all died? An age will come when I alone can remain. The point is that the age of the Unification Church is coming. (laughter) Even when someone comes holding the words of the Bible and says something, it cannot be done except by the Teacher, and in teaching the character and heart of God too, it cannot be done except by the Teacher.
If a historical ideology that teaches the duty of the loyal subject and the faithful woman, and all epochal and social customs, is needed, that standard must, to the very end, be done through the heavenly order (천륜).
Because there is in the Unification Church something tens of thousands of times more valuable than anything of the past—teaching and correcting that everything must be done thus—anyone whose eyes are set straight, even if told not to come to the Unification Church, must come in, vying to be first.
Once one has thus come in, even if beaten with a club and told to get out, one does not get out. In the old days, when told not to leave, there were many who said, how can one live in such a forlorn church?
If the Teacher were told to write a thesis on suffering, it would win the Nobel Prize and more.
The Teaching of Religion—Completely Deny Myself
Everyone! Do you know what course was passed through until this Day of All Things came forth?
It was a course of escaping from this world to that world. Then what is this world? Because this world is within the realm of the fall, one cannot go to the world of God’s purpose of creation. Therefore, one must escape this world. For that, the work of grafting is needed.
In the Bible, it says,
“I am the true olive tree, and you are the wild olive tree. I am the vine, and you are its branches.”
Here, the “I” is said about Jesus. Jesus came to graft. Then, to graft, must one cut the true olive tree, or must one cut the wild olive tree?
One must cut the wild olive tree, yet in the Bible, the true olive tree was cut.
In just that way, Jesus was made to die on the cross. Not even knowing that it became so, people merely say Jesus’ cross is good. There is indeed some reason in Jesus’ having shed blood, but it ought not to have become so.
Now, conversely, you who are the wild olive tree must be cut. Then, where and how must you be cut? Must the ankle be cut? As in cutting a tree, one cuts the bottom, so a person must have their neck cut.
If the neck is cut, one dies, but if one does not die, one cannot be resurrected. If one does not die, one cannot be resurrected.
Religion is for the sake of making the human being escape completely from God’s judgment.
Then what kind of judgment does God intend to render through human history?
He intends to render a complete judgment. He intends to judge completely, well over one hundred percent, up to a hundred and fifty percent. It is God’s mind to thus expel everything of the fallen world.
Do you understand what is meant?
The human being ought to have attended God amid joy and glory, but through the fall made Him sorrowful. Yet through the bond of the providence of salvation, God seeks to build a cultural world centered on God. For the sake of such a world, He unfolds the work of the great judgment.
You must throw away the education, the -isms, and the thoughts you have learned until now—all of these. You must completely deny everything about the satanic world.
If you must deny one hundred percent but deny only up to ninety-eight percent, the two percent is the problem.
The name Israel came forth from a place of complete denial. Therefore, the people chosen by God walked a path directly opposite to the path of human hope. Noah, too, was so. He built a ship, and he built it not by the river but on a mountain, and that over a hundred and twenty years.
And four hundred years after Noah, God called Abraham and told him to leave his hometown. He asked Abraham to abandon the relatives and kindred with whom he had until then lived pleasantly in his native land, to pack his bundle, and to leave that place.
So he crossed the border and went to Egypt. And he was placed in a position where he had no choice but to deceive, calling his wife his younger sister. Thus Abraham, in the life of the heart, went even to the final forlorn place, the place of denial. Amid this, God asked Abraham to offer his son Isaac in sacrifice.
If it were you, would you have believed such a God?
Look at Moses. When Moses, to save the Israelite people, was going from the wilderness of Midian to Pharaoh’s court, there was an incident on the way in which God sought to kill him.
If one does not deny oneself, God makes one deny and separates off Satan. By such a public law of heaven, by such a law, He makes one completely deny. Seen from that viewpoint, religion sets out from denial.
“Love me more than anyone in the world.” This is Jesus’ proclamation. It is Jesus’ proclamation before it is the Unification Church’s proclamation. And he said, “The members of your household are your enemies.” To the father, the son is the enemy; to the mother, the daughter; to the mother-in-law, the daughter-in-law.
Therefore, he said, “Whoever does not take up his cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.” Then what is one’s own cross?
Even if the father did well, the son cannot inherit the father’s path just as it is.
Even in the Principle and its principles, no forgiveness is allowed. One must set out from complete denial.
Heavenly Heart (天情) Is the Standard of the New Cultural World
In fallen human beings, a han is knotted. Therefore, the judgment unfolds.
The thread of history until now has been centered on the standard of human order and morality. Even the parents’ affection (情) for their children was so. But we must, going beyond the cultural world created centered on the human heart and on the standard of human order and morality until now, create a new cultural world centered on the Cosmos (天宙).
For that, we must, from a place of completely denying human heart (人情), create a new cultural world centered on heavenly heart (天情).
Therefore, the higher a religion is, the more severely it emphasizes the denial of present reality. You must abandon parents, siblings, wife, and children, and, attending God as Father and attending Jesus as bridegroom, organize a new family.
Before one completely denies, one cannot make a new start. That is because Satan has entered the body. One must completely cut off attachment to the satanic world and set out with what is new.
One must blot out (塗抹) the human heart and set up a heavenly heart. The higher a religion is that has such a standard of facing God’s providence, the more it has within itself the key that can embrace the whole.
A religion that cannot clearly reveal that it can completely remove Satan and attend to God alone as the human being’s Lord of dominion (主管主) is false.
Did Teacher Moon of the Unification Church tell you to destroy your families?
You came forth from a position of destroying them yourselves! People who do not come out if they dislike it and come out if they like it—once they come in here, in less than three days they will grow a thousand, ten thousand li distant.
If I cannot deny the false family, God must stand in a position of denying you.
Therefore, after denying oneself, one must prepare for the time God desires. But when the time comes, and one still cannot deny oneself, God sets one up in such a place. Then one must fight inwardly. And so faith is something one must fight for.
The Family Centered on Heavenly Heart
Now religion must turn toward a religion of daily life. Satan has trampled this heaven and earth, trampled this world, and afflicted God for six thousand years. Seen by the principle of the law of heaven, Satan is the enemy before God. He is the enemy of the past, present, and future. There is a person of character equipped with a standard by which he can subdue this enemy, Satan, and become a filial son before God, and that is precisely Jesus. Therefore, Satan fears Jesus. Satan was subdued before Jesus.
Today, humankind must organize a new people centered on the heavenly family. Because the standard of the providence of restoration was entirely a family of heart, Jesus too must work centered on the family.
That is, Jesus, as the bridegroom, must welcome a bride upon this earth and marry. When such words are said, they call the Unification Church heretical. But die and see. You will come to know whether it is true word or not.
As sons and daughters God can love, fully rendering the duty of loyalty and filial piety, one must, after marrying under God’s presiding, form a married couple and give birth to direct children centered on God. And thereby they must restore the path that the Israelite people wandered as strangers for two thousand years until today.
Because a human being who is one in heart with God must appear, Christianity is a singularly heart-centered religion. Christianity is equipped with the marrow of the world of the heart.
In creating a new world by the law of the heavenly order centered on the heavenly heart, the core unit is the family. Christianity has taught a new standard of parents, a standard of husband and wife, and a standard of children centered on the family. Seen from this point, our Unification Church is a representative religion centered on the heavenly heart. Therefore, the conclusion is that this worldwide religion must not be opposed.
Then what will you do when you meet Jesus, who is the bridegroom?
Adam and Eve did not become a bridegroom and bride centered on God. Only by being equipped with the qualification of bridegroom and bride before God and being within the same living realm does one become a filial son, a loyal subject, a faithful woman, but that did not come to be.
So when the bridegroom and bride, individually restored through indemnity, become a married couple standing in for the law of heaven and earth, they become such a couple that God can say, “You are flesh of my flesh, son among sons, filial child among filial children, loyal subject among loyal subjects.” And thereby they become qualified to set up a standard representing all nations. But because that did not come to be, to restore this through indemnity, Jesus came with the bond of the bridegroom.
The Unification Church and Heart-ism
What does it mean that Jesus comes with the standard of bridegroom and bride?
It means becoming a filial son and loyal subject who can serve God’s will. This is the marrow of Christianity.
What do you understand the marriage feast of the Lamb to be?
Because we lost the True Parents whom we ought to have welcomed unfallen, the marriage of the Lamb is, by restoring this, to welcome the True Parents, the desire of humankind that ought to have been accomplished six thousand years ago. This is God’s providence.
Then where would the native homeland be?
That place is Korea. Through whom does it become so?
Through some group centered on God, does it become so? It becomes so through the Unification Church. The name Unification Church did not come forth by chance. It is the character “tong” (統), meaning “to command.” Therefore, one must not grow weary.
In governing (治理) the Cosmos, one must know how to conceive all its detailed organization. In the stead of many peoples and denominations, you must look upon much of everything.
Now there are Elder Na, Elder Park, Church, the Koryo faction, and so on, but hereafter they will not last long. What remains at the very last will be nothing but the Unification Church. Does that feel good or bad? (It is good.) How good it would be! You know that feeling, do you not?
Now, in the not-distant future, there must be a base that can settle humankind in a world of unification, in an eternal, everlasting welfare of rest. Where is that place? It is the world of the heart.
In the world of the heart, the father cannot live without his child, and the wife cannot live without her husband. The world to come is such a world of truth.
The “-isms” of the world may become a stage of the revolution of consciousness in the standard of conscience, but hereafter what can win victory by destiny and win victory finally must come forth. That is precisely “heart.”
Hereafter, a new view of history must come forth that can revolutionize the heart of humankind and set up the standard of the heavenly way. Based on this view of history, a heart-centered ism must come forth that can create a new view of life and a view of the world.
Then what -ism is that -ism?
It is one centered on a heart-centered view of life, a heart-centered view of the world, and a heart-centered view of the universe, and it is what history anticipates. The Unification Church is precisely what teaches this.
Truth, Character, Heart
Then how must the human being who faces such a standard act?
First, one must pass through the judgment of truth. One is saved not merely by faith but must first become one who passes the test of truth.
God created everything by the Word. Therefore, unless the Word—that is, truth—is complete, its substance cannot be complete. That is, if truth is incomplete, the substance too cannot but be incomplete. Nor can one live a complete life of faith unless one is grounded in a complete place. Therefore, the complete truth that God, heaven, and earth desire must come forth. The time of the judgment of truth must come.
Then what has history come seeking until now?
It has come seeking one person of character. To find a person of character, what must one first seek before that? Centered on one person who can give birth to a person of character, one must come seeking truth.
Now human beings have nowhere to go. But because they must render a showdown, they cannot remain only in despair.
Now a movement of the opening of truth must unfold, by which, with true truth, one can enter a new heaven and earth. A standard must come forth that can put in order the environment struck with despondency and despair and guide it to the only path of life.
Therefore, until now, saying this -ism and that -ism, they have come seeking truth. Only when the complete truth comes forth is the world at last completely unified.
After passing through truth, one must complete character, and next one must complete heart. We must, through the heart, know the historical God. God at the time of creation was a God of the heart.
We must know the historical God of heart—what God’s heart was at the time of creation and after the human fall, and what heart He holds having passed through the process of history.
You believe, but do you know God’s heart?
You must know God’s heart.
Next, one must know what God’s epochal desire is and what God’s epochal heart is. And so one must know God’s future heart.
Because God is an eternal being, He carries on the providence through the past, present, and future. Therefore, God’s historical complication of the heart is connected through the ages, and the epochal complication is connected through the future.
Accordingly, only by consoling God’s historical heart and consoling the epochal heart, and gently and humbly realizing the future heart, does one become a person God can acknowledge.
The fall refers to the state in which the human being is placed in a position where he cannot believe God and God cannot acknowledge the human being. Therefore, when the Last Days come, the age of the judgment of truth comes.
At that time, before the genuine comes forth, many false ones come forth. In the fallen world, it often happens that the false comes forth first and passes for the genuine. Therefore, the genuine has until now received much contempt.
These days, people who have touched the spiritual world even a little say the Lord comes to Korea.
Then how does the Lord come, and how can one know it?
The Bible says that neither the Son nor the angels know, but only the Father knows. Then, because only the Father knows and the Son does not, does that mean the Son has no qualification to inherit?
Just as to receive an inheritance from a father, one must know where the father’s paddy is and where his field is, so only by knowing everything about God can one inherit.
One Must Stand on Truth, but Words Alone Will Not Do
What appeared as new offspring before the bright heaven and earth is the Unification Church. You came into the Unification Church and suffered much, but you did not do a full hundred percent as the Teacher told you.
When we fire artillery at the established churches, those pastors cannot but flee in terror, scattered out of their wits. To wage a fight, one must fire many blank shells. On the battlefield, if a thousand live rounds are fired, fewer than ten are hit and die, but even so, one must fire many.
Until now, we have fired many blank shells. Hereafter, the Teacher is planning to fire regular artillery.
Hereafter, the age of judgment comes. At that time, one must stand on truth, but words alone will not do. Many make a living with words alone, but Teacher Moon of the Unification Church is not so.
The Teacher has done a laborer, an A-frame carrier, a beggar, and all sorts of things. He has slept with them too. Seeing the forlorn circumstances of pitiful people, he has wailed too. Forming a bond with such a world of heart, he has fought until now.
After equipping such preparation, I resolved that as a true leader, I must not receive the reproach of conscience.
The Teacher has not done a single thing before God for which he would receive the reproach of conscience. I thought that because the Teacher exists, God exists.
When the Teacher goes around the provincial churches, he sees our Unification members living in all-too-wretched places.
Each time, he prayed to God, “Father, be with them! When I passed through such an environment, didst Thou not be together with me, and, when I stood in such a place in the Father’s stead, urge me that the path yet remained? Form such a bond for them too.”
Now that wretched place of yours must not end merely as wretchedness. Even in a wretched place, one must appear in a figure that can, centered on good, sound a song of triumph and victory. For that, one must become a prince of God who can fundamentally judge the world of evil.
You must know well the position of this master, who cannot but drive you out to a place where harsh wind and waves rage.
If I know that I love God and that God loves me, then, however precious a place of hope there may be in the world, I must abandon it and go to a place where, taking hold of God’s heart, I can appeal.
The Value of the Bond of Heart with God
The Teacher dislikes becoming a second-rate human being. The Teacher crossed over this ridge after obtaining Heaven’s whole authority. Therefore, when, with the bond of God’s circumstance and heart, I say “Father!”, God too is set to wail. Even now, I cannot forget the fact that God took hold of me, counseled me, and wailed.
Even in an environment where, at the end of a life driven and pursued, I became a prisoner shut behind iron bars and could not but shed tears, God was with me. He was a God who always made disciples for me, even when I did not speak.
Attending to such a God, overcoming a thousand hardships and myriad sufferings until today, I am struggling to fully render, with single-hearted devotion, the duty of loyalty and filial piety before God. I held the mind of rendering full loyalty in going this path, but God taught me so that I could hold a mind beyond even this. The emotion that overflowed within me each such time I cannot forget even now.
If anyone now appeared before the Teacher and spoke of such a complication of sorrow, the Teacher would wail at the first word. He is a person steeped in such a story. There are countless people in this world, and there are many prophets who have gone to the spiritual world, but they do not know this fact. God’s leading me thus is not to make me perish, but to give me the most precious and greatest thing.
The Teacher has not the slightest thought of becoming “something” in Korea through the Unification Church. He only wishes that the day may come when, doing God’s work until death and fully discharging his responsibility, the will is accomplished.
What else could there be besides this mind?
You must know that it is a path of fate that one cannot but go, however much one dislikes it.
What has the Teacher, walking through a valley of death that cannot be expressed in words, emphasized before you until now?
One must make it so that the thirty million people can, in every corner, think of God and wail. Without that, one cannot bring this path to a conclusion.
The believers of the Unification Church cannot form a bond of heart with God except through a heart that can beat the breast and wail for the sake of heaven and earth.
From Jesus’ having prayed, before the final moment of his fate, “Abba, Father, if it be possible, remove this cup from me” (Mark 14:36), one can know Jesus’ heart toward God.
Just as Jesus, who appealed to God, formed a bond of heart with God through earnest prayer, so when we too come to hold such a mind, God can be together with us.
Those who must work holding God’s heart and Jesus’ mind are the ministers of today, the people responsible for the providential history, and also the people responsible for the debt of having lost God’s heart.
You must become filial sons who, attending in your hearts to the historically sorrowful figure of God, console the sorrowful mind of God and return joy and glory to Him. You must know that God is, even until now, in despondency and lamentation.
We must, attending God, cross over the people and cross over the world, together with all people, in the stead of the whole authority of the Cosmos, take hold of and console God’s han, and greet one day of victory.
We must struggle to become such sons and daughters that the Father can say He wishes to bless rather than judge. Only by becoming such a person does one become one of the remaining multitude.
Even tormented by harsh environments and adversity, one must, not bending to it, be able to say, “I alone remain.” Only by holding such a heart can one at last form a bond of life with God.
If one is bonded to such a heart, however strong a north wind or storm blows, this bond of heart possessing such vital power cannot dare be broken down.
Vital Power and the Bond of Heart
When the fine season of the third month of spring comes, it is the principle of heaven and earth that the seed of life is sown in the new heaven and earth and develops anew.
Now you must know that the Unification Church, having passed through the three winter months in which the ice freezes hard, is entering the age of spring days.
But there is one thing you must know. It is that, to have the seed of life abundantly, one must form a bond of grafting with God’s heart. Only then does one not perish.
To do so, one must become a historical participant. One must enter even into the depths of the heart of God, who, beholding the figure of the dying Jesus, could not bear to see it and turned away His face and darkened the sky for three hours. And thereby one must become a son standing in for Jesus, who can offer a prayer of consolation to God. The point is, you must become one who, not the dead Jesus but not dying, can console God.
Until now, the countless ancestors of every generation have passed through a blood-soaked historical course. Even before the path of death, they cried out, “O, Father…” and longed for that day, that hour, that time to come.
You must inherit such a traditional bond by which the ancestors cast away their lives and must be able to console the sorrowful prophets and righteous of the past.
And you must be able to feel, as they walked such a path, how many grievous complications God had, and to say, “Father, let their han be resolved through me, and, seeing me thus active today, be pleased over the sorrowful mind of that time.”
Our Purpose Is to Help Others Enter the Kingdom of Heaven
A multitude is needed that can pioneer the epochal environment and fully render the duty of loyalty and filial piety before God. And despite this, can you say you will believe and go to heaven? Is going to heaven the purpose?
Our purpose is not to go to the Kingdom of Heaven but to help others go to the Kingdom of Heaven. Because the sorrowful history came about through human beings, it is the human being’s duty and responsibility to fully render loyalty before God and console God. And despite this, do you think you can enter the Kingdom of Heaven by clamoring to be sent to the Kingdom of Heaven?
The human being must, fully rendering the duty of loyalty and filial piety before God upon the earth, taste the Kingdom-of-Heaven life on this earth and then go to the Kingdom of Heaven.
Unfallen parents must appear. Because these parents are parents who do not remain within the realm of the fall, they come to stand within an inviolable realm that Satan cannot invade, however he tries.
Accordingly, the parents are the True Parents of humankind who can subdue this world, however evil it may be. Satan cannot occupy these True Parents.
Human history is going forward, passing through the night and through the dawn, to greet a new sun of light. Then what does the sun mean? The son of humankind means “the parents of humankind.” Before these parents come forth, the native homeland, the hometown of humankind, cannot come forth.
Do you have a true hometown?
A hometown formed by a bond of bloodline through fallen parents is not a true hometown. This is a hometown that originally ought not to exist.
Therefore, you must know that a person with a true conscience, even though he has his parents, denies his parents, denies the social environment, and that the stimulus and desire of conscience, seeking something, subdues him. Therefore, you must make it your goal to become a person with such an original mind.
To find parents centered on God and go seeking the native home, there must be True Parents, and there must be siblings centered on those True Parents.
One Must Know the Forlornness Until the Day of All Things Was Set Up
Everyone! Our Unification Church has set days that do not exist in the world. The four great holy days commemorated in the Unification Church are holy days incomparable even with the great historical holy days of the Republic of Korea.
What day is the day human beings most desire? It is the Day of Parents. That is, they are desiring the day on which they can have parents.
Because humankind lost its parents through the fall, the most important thing among what is to be restored is the welcoming of the parents. Before one enters the place of attending the parents, one does not become a child. Therefore, the Day of Parents must be set.
After the Day of Parents is completely restored through indemnity in the world, there must be the Day of All Children. And thus, after the Day of Parents and the Day of All Children, centered on the bond of the true parents and true children, are decided, the Day of All Things must be set.
There may be among you some attending this place for the first time today, but how did this “Day of All Things” come forth? In the Garden of Eden, the seed of sin sown through the fall of Adam and Eve was reaped in their sons Cain and Abel.
Therefore, the parents who sowed the seed of sin must be restored. And, centered on the Cosmos-historical expectation of the restoration of the parents, the standard of children who can fully render the duty of loyalty and filial piety must be restored.
Only after this standard was decided did the Day of All Things at last come forth.
You must know that all things spread out upon this earth today are in an exceedingly pitiful position. All things were created amid God’s hope; all things God made were poured out with all devotion, but because the human being fell, all things had to pass through a process of atonement in the human being’s stead and had to be sorrowfully sacrificed. Because one cannot kill a person and offer him in sacrifice, all things have been made an offering and offered as a sacrifice of sacrifice.
All things offered as an offering are sorrowful, but that the sons and daughters God loves shed much blood upon this earth and passed on is more sorrowful still. When we come to consider the fact that there is a God who has carried on such a providence for several thousand years, we must know that within God’s providence there is steeped a complication that no one can dare deny.
To set history right, the countless sages and martyrs of every generation came, building altars of blood one after another. And you must know that, centered on the original ideal of creation, they walked an unimaginable, forlorn path that ought not even to be thought of or looked upon. There was no way to escape the place of sacrifice.
Though they longed for the day when, by their single sacrifice, they could save humankind, the countless prophets and righteous upon this earth who came shouldering the responsibility of the providence of restoration collapsed here and there, shedding tears of blood.
Each time you face the three-thousand-li peninsula of the Republic of Korea today, you must think that there were people who, to save these people, shed blood and sweat, becoming offerings or prisoners, were driven and pursued, vomited blood, went a wretched path of fate, and died.
You must know this sorrowful circumstance—that the sons and daughters God loves had to shed tears of blood and cross over the crises of death.
Had the human being not fallen, there would have been no such thing between heaven and earth, but because he fell, such things came about. But it is a thing that must disappear as quickly as possible.
For the Christians who came forming a spiritual Israel for the sake of God’s nation, has there been until now any one place of land where they could attend God and live?
The human being had land where he could live and had a house, but the question is whether there was land and a house that God could call His own eternal land and His own house. God has until now been a wanderer.
Accordingly, you too must consider that you are God’s kindred who cannot escape the lot of a wanderer, having to flee, when driven from here, to there, and, when driven from there, to here.
God, though tormented by the realm of the sovereignty of evil, has carried on the providence for six thousand years to set up one day of the sovereignty of good. It was the religion until now that, waiting with palms joined to welcome the representative of that one day, built a forlorn altar of blood and sweat and came seeking the native homeland of the sovereignty of good.
You must know the forlornness, the wretchedness, and the history of death behind that until good is found and set up.
You must clearly know that God desires that a prince of Heaven come forth who fully discharges the responsibility of, through the history of judgment, punishing the enemies and securing the history of sin, thereby resolving God’s han.
The Teacher once prayed to God, “Father, the suffering of my whole life will pass by without remaining, but let at least the red passion by which I would, single-heartedly, love Thee and be loyal to Thee remain. For that, I will go, not minding even the path of death.”
What the Teacher desires from such a place is that you pray before God, centered on one individual and praying centered on one family, one kindred, one people, and one nation, preparing a foundation of rest to which God can come seeking through hundreds of millions of ages.
The point is that one must prepare such a foundation of rest individually, at the family level, at the kindred level, and at the national level, and offer it before God.
Therefore, until now, we have, at the same time as seeking the standard of individual restoration, cultivated the foundation of the restoration of all things that God can permit.
The Significance of the Holy Wedding and the Holy Grounds
We set out on the first seven-year course in 1960.
On this course, because the True Parents' Day and the True Children's Day could not come forth before true sons and daughters came forth, we first set up the True Parents' Day and the True Children's Day. And after passing through a three-year course, we designated the Day of All True Things. It has already been four years since this day was set.
You must know that until now, not only the people of the Republic of Korea but also the three billion people of humankind did not know these days, but hereafter they will become one historical day that all people of the world can praise.
I do not know how you have lived until today, but the fact that you attended this place now and heard the Word of Teacher Moon is a fact worth boasting of.
When you go to the spiritual world, even if you have nothing else to boast of, having heard the Word in this place will be an absolute condition that you cannot but boast of.
Now everything must be unified into one ideology. Centered on God, after forming a bond of father and son with God, one must, from the position of a new ancestor, decide everything and cross over.
Therefore, the Unification Church has been conducting the Holy Wedding. And it has designated Holy Grounds, land where one can pray. You must know that our designating Holy Grounds where we can now appeal before God—we who had nowhere to go to pray when we were driven and pursued—is the planting of a historical, worldwide signpost of victory.
To expand this standard, last year the Teacher, touring the world, designated a hundred and twenty Holy Grounds in forty countries. That, spending much expense, we designated Holy Grounds in many countries and brought the stones and earth of those places to Korea is because there is a providence of God, without which it cannot be done. Such a thing is a thing not found in history.
Then why do we do such a thing?
It is to match the beat of the fortune of heaven and earth and to match God’s providential program.
The hundred and twenty Holy Grounds in forty countries are lands that can protect God’s chosen people's rights.
Even if people with physical bodies cannot protect this land, the spirits of the spiritual world protect it. It is to plant a signpost with which God can be together and to make a foundation on which one can fight, thereby setting up a starting point that can lead the fight of the movement for the restoration of the people to victory.
Now we are clearly seeing that the fortune of heaven and earth is entering within the realm of the age in which the final fate must be decided. Is it so, or not? (That is so.) You have all heard and seen, have you not?
The Unification Church came forth to open a path by which the human being, before dying, can, in a world where God is together, form a bond of the filial son and the faithful woman who can be loved before God.
Even if the Teacher is driven and pursued before the thirty million people, it would be good if the Republic of Korea could live and the world could live. But those who oppose us come to perish in the end.
I Sacrificed Everything to Resolve God’s Han
Even the people who, having heard our lecture last time, liked it very much were people who before that fiercely regarded the Unification Church as an enemy. The Teacher, if he were to face those who oppose him with human emotion, is a person with a spirit of revenge as strong as anyone’s.
The Teacher is no spineless weakling. But he endures from a position like that of a tiger with a broken back. It is because taking revenge does not resolve the Teacher’s han.
You must clearly know that the Teacher is passing through a course of struggle to accomplish the resolution of the han knotted in God and to decide on a worldwide day of restoration.
Parents and wife and children are not the issue. The Teacher rejected his parents. He rejected even his wife and children. The Teacher has neither relatives nor friends. He abandoned everything the world calls precious. That is to meet you, whom God holds precious.
It was so because there was a providence of God by which, gathering the sons and daughters and the loyal subjects and faithful women God can love, one must restore the fallen world.
Because the Teacher knew the principle by which God had no choice but to come sacrificing Abel, who is on Heaven’s side, rather than setting up Cain as the offering, when he stepped forth for the sake of the will, he rejected his physical parents, and he is a person who, even when his siblings came seeking him, would not meet them but fled.
Fallen human beings do not know the reason God comes to sacrifice the people of Abel’s side. Because it is the principle of the providence of restoration that one cannot first love the person near to oneself, one must sacrifice the near love and save countless human beings.
Therefore, the Teacher could not buy even a single handkerchief or a single pair of shoes for the parents who love me so. Even now, when I think of such things, humanly, I am an unfilial child.
But the Teacher struggled forth, resolving that, though he be unfilial before his parents, he would not, even at the cost of death, stand in a position of being unfilial before God. Because the Teacher has presided over everything with such resolve, he holds the mind of not resting until the day that resolve is accomplished.
The Unification Church, centered on the Teacher who holds such a resolve, has, even in a place of being driven and pursued, planted roots and cultivated a worldwide foundation that cannot be uprooted, however one tries. That is why the Teacher speaks loudly.
The Reason I Put the Unification Family Members Through Hardship
What the Teacher thinks of most greatly is the unification of this world. Rather than favoring and loving the members of the Unification Church, the Teacher seeks to make them heavenly warriors who can take responsibility for this world and fight. This is the first purpose.
Only by becoming a heavenly warrior who can fight and win does one become an eternally unchanging filial son and filial daughter, loyal subject, and faithful woman before God. Because the Teacher knows that not becoming so is the fate of the fallen world, he cannot but unavoidably drive you out.
What master would drive the disciples he loves onto the path of the cross? Having sent them, he cannot but wail.
When the Teacher toured the various churches, the scene of the family members shedding tears as they looked at me is steeped in my breast even now. They, driven and pursued by their parents and siblings, believe in and follow the Teacher.
The Teacher said to them, “Though you are driven and pursued, God will remember the traces of your hardship; so even if the fruits do not appear at once, endure for just a few years.” At that place I had a mind wanting to wail too, but, thinking of God’s heart, I restrained my mind.
Walking such a course of sorrow, we set the True Parents' Day, the True Children's Day, and the Day of All True Things for the sake of the restoration of humankind. By greeting such days, the world came to be able to enter a new realm of fortune.
When Jesus died, centered on the cross, there were the robbers on the right and the robber on the left. Not only that, but the person called Barabbas, who was released in Jesus’ stead, is also connected with Jesus’ cross. Because the present world is the end-time age, phenomena like those of Jesus’ time come to unfold.
Seen centered on Jesus’ cross, the robber on the right symbolizes democracy, and the robber on the left symbolizes communism, which says, “Where is God?”
Because human history after Jesus set out from such a position, the serious confrontation of democracy and communism came to be.
The robber on the right is the position that says God exists, and the robber on the left is the position that says God does not exist.
Then what position is Barabbas?
Barabbas is the position of the realm of Islam.
Let Us Become Comrades in the Founding of a World of Unification-ism
Now we must know that an age comes in which Jesus, who died hanging on the cross, is resurrected. Before that time comes, an age comes in which democracy, communism, and the Arab realm centered on Islam are each unified into one.
Thereafter, the age of Jesus’ Second Advent comes. Therefore, we have entered a time when a new age of Cosmos-ism centered on the returning Lord can come forth. This -ism is the -ism the Unification Church advocates. It is an -ism that, treading over the place of the blood-shedding red cross, can, without shedding blood, set up a signpost of victory—an -ism that comes forth holding a white cross.
However great the hardships and the steeped sorrow, what holds the signpost of victory that can create a new history is the Unification Church.
What we struggled through, shedding blood and sweat, will remain as historical content that can shine forever in the Cosmos. Therefore, the Unification Church has come forth with a new truth that can set up the sorrowful and indignant bond of Jesus’ cross as a signpost of victory. Do you understand? (Yes.)
Hereafter, where will the communist world be, and where will the democratic world be? And where will the realm of Islam be?
There will be only Unification-ism. The “comrades of founding” who will set up Unificationism are precisely the members of the Unification Church. We are not comrades of reconstruction but comrades of founding. And so the Teacher, touring the whole of the three-thousand-li peninsula of Korea, appealed to the family members many times to advance without end, like the endlessly continuing current of a river.
Those who, holding a bond of hope to set up the duty of loyalty and filial piety for the sake of God, have volunteered for the path of death and stepped forth, have gathered precisely here.
In your eyes, the Unification Church is really forlorn, is it not?
If the Teacher wanted to build a church costing tens of millions of won right now, he could build it. But that is not the issue. He is waiting with a mind that longs for the time when it can be built by gathering the devotion of the thirty million people.
Even in a place of being opposed and pursued, let us gauge the flow of history anew and make a new history. The place that gives such conviction is the Unification Church.
You must, from a standard of being for God and His nation, being for your brothers and sisters, and being for all things, form a true bond with all things. And, from a position of being able to become a true elder brother and a true younger brother before true parents, you must form a bond by which siblings can be harmonious.
Because human history was destroyed through the fight between Cain and Abel, one must harmonize with one another and form the bond of siblings. Thereby, this world can be restored within the realm of God’s hope.
The day on which the condition for greeting one such day can be set up as an offering is precisely the Day of All Things. We commemorate this day to resolve once again to fulfill the mission of building the coming Kingdom of God.
You have all gathered, with no one missing, from the First Church, the Second Church, and the Third Church, have you not?
People who on other days would come a little late must have taken great pains to come on time today. Now, if we do not do a little more earnestly and pour out devotion a little more earnestly, it will become a han.
If One Endures a Little More Even in What Does Not Work Out
Hereafter, we will split the large church in Seoul and set up some forty churches.
Thus, we will increase from forty churches to a hundred and twenty churches, and then to three hundred and sixty churches. In this way, we will surround the established churches. Just wait and see.
They will be startled, saying, “Oh dear! I did not know the Unification Church had become like this.” Until then, they opposed from outside the wall, but now they will say they must shut the door and oppose. But, having gone on opposing, who will be left? All their sons and daughters will have gone into the Unification Church, and they alone will be left.
The point is that in the established churches, only the pastor will be left. (laughter) The clever ones have all come into the Unification Church.
Because the young people of the Unification Church are all in their twenties, it is quite pleasant. The established-church believers have no way whatever of knowing the things we are doing.
It will take about ten years before they know what we are doing. It may seem that we are doing outlandish things, but the point is that, once it is past, they will come to know that it was not so.
Take just the Sunhwa Children’s Dance Troupe—how much the established churches opposed it! Yet after the American tour, when they performed in Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Daejeon, and such places, there were even incidents of people breaking window panes vying to watch. It received a truly explosive welcome.
In the course of doing work, some things do not go well. Even a thing that does not work out while one is doing it works out if one endures just a little more. Even if it is hard, if one does it, it works out. Do you understand?
Now you must restore the eyes, nose, mouth, and ears steeped in the habits of the fallen world. You must recreate the eyes, nose, mouth, and ears. Centered on God, you must unify the eyes, unify the ears, unify the mouth, and so unify the body, and then unify the action and unify the heart. Unless you do so, you cannot become a true saint of unification.
Because the human being became the servant of the Archangel, God’s servant, through the Archangel’s violation, in the end, the human being is in the position of the servant of servants. Here, the human being must first escape the standard of being the servant of servants and next escape the standard of the servant.
Then what is the standard of the servant? It refers to a position in which one cannot inherit the master’s property but works, like a servant, receiving only wages. To go from such a position of the servant to the position of the adopted child, one must first become the servant of servants.
In What Position Are You Today?
For a fallen human being to advance to a position of being able to receive God’s blessing, one must, without fail, set up the condition of having fully rendered loyalty as a servant. After fully rendering loyalty from the position of the servant, one must render loyalty from the position of the adopted child.
To pass through the position of the adopted child, there must be the condition of having set up the whole standard for the adopted child. The adopted child can receive an inheritance but cannot stand in for the bloodline.
With the qualification of an adopted child, one can go only to the paradise-level spiritual world. Therefore, to cross over the standard of the adopted child, one must be grafted as a direct son or daughter.
So Jesus came as the true olive tree to graft all the human beings upon this earth. Thus, Jesus, coming as the true olive tree that does the work of grafting, chose the twelve disciples as a worldwide representative form and prepared a foundation on which a bond of siblings could be set up.
The saints who believe in Jesus ought to have become siblings who, centered on the bond of siblings, became a fence blocking the invasion of the satanic world and could bring down Satan’s fortress.
And so Jesus had to rise, centered on those siblings, to the position of parents.
That was Jesus’ purpose. When, from such a position of parents, the sons and daughters are blessed again and set up before God, a new Kingdom of Heaven of Israel begins. This is the principle of the providential history.
Then what kind of time is today, seen epochally?
The world is already in a position of having welcomed the Third Israel. But because there is the epochal indignation of Jesus’ having been persecuted, the established churches today are persecuting the Unification Church.
Just as Jesus walked the path of death through the opposition of the Israelite people but was resurrected again and restored the spiritual standard, so, though the Unification Church is outwardly driven and pursued in the religious world and is passing through indescribable hardship and the path of death, inwardly it is accomplishing a national and worldwide history. This is the Unification Church’s view of history seen by the Principle.
Then in what position are you?
Are you in the position of the servant of servants, in the position of the servant, in the position of the adopted child, in the position of the son, or, as a Blessed Family, in the position of an ancestor in the Kingdom of Heaven?
You must clearly know at what stage you are now. And you must know that only by completely crossing over the individual, family, kindred, people, national, and world standards can you accomplish the purpose of all people.
For the sake of this purpose, we must resolve once again and must fully carry out the mission of building the Kingdom of God.
For that, you must once again today resolve to fight to accomplish, as the first stage, the national responsibility; as the second stage, the worldwide responsibility; and, as the third stage, the Cosmos-level mission. Will you go to such a battlefield, or not? (We will go.) Those who will go, raise your hands. Lower them.
Bear in mind that, together with your vow, even now the family members of unification throughout the whole world are praying over this matter. I ask that you greet this day today with a thankful heart.
Prayer
Father! We know that the Father wishes us to become true filial sons and filial daughters. Now grant us to know that we are ones who must accomplish a true family, a true kindred, a true people, a true nation, and a true world.
Father, until now, where in this heaven and earth was there land on which Thou couldst set Thy foot? Was there such a kindred, was there such a nation, was there such a world? Thou hast always been a stranger.
We know that Thou hast continued for six thousand years such a life of wandering—when the east wind blew, Thou hadst to be driven westward, and when the north wind blew, Thou hadst to be driven southward. We know that, through one day’s error of the first ancestor of our humankind, we made the Father pass through a history of complication.
Father, there is the Unification Church, which gazes upon the true ideology that must re-create and reorganize the fallen history, so remember it.
We know well what result all the errors of the historical ancestors brought upon the course of history, and we know well too that a sorrowful and han-filled history continued down. Father, we have experienced, to the very marrow, that such a history must never be repeated.
Grant that the path of loyalty and filial devotion by which we can be for God may become the highest purpose of our lives. Grant that we may become the Father’s laborers who know how to think thankfully of such a place of vowing loyalty and filial piety before the Father.
And so make even the Satan who followed us follow no more and bid farewell. Grant that we may become the Father’s sons and daughters who can, with joy, cross over the great mountains and steep ridges we must yet cross hereafter—this we earnestly ask and desire.
Father, we give thanks that this holy day was set up in this nation, upon this earth. We know how greatly the Father toiled until this day came forth and how greatly the lamenting all things longed for it, so receive all this with joy. And so work that we may quickly accomplish the day when a worldwide victory can be won upon this earth—Father, this we earnestly ask and desire.
Preside over the hearts of all the sons and daughters who attended here for the sake of this day, and judge all the content and standards—any notions, -isms, and thoughts—that these have held until now. Father, grant that this may become a special day and a day of commemoration, on which, centered on Thy heart, we can secure a living foundation of re-creation and prepare that foundation. This we earnestly ask and desire.
Father! Because a national course remains, hasten our steps. And so grant that ours may become a life in which we can vow and give thanks for the sake of the day of victory—this we ask and desire.
Though on the historical course of indemnity there were times when we could fully render devotion, we have not greeted the day of victory, the day of filial devotion, that heaven and earth can truly welcome; so, Father, in order now to greet that day, guide us to become the Father’s sons and daughters who can render loyalty and filial devotion with all the strength that remains, as well as with the life that remains.
Grant that what we, resolving in our hearts, have vowed before the Father this hour, raising both hands, may not be in vain—this we earnestly ask.
Imploring that Thou wouldst send down a new promise and special grace upon humankind, upon this nation and this people, and upon countless altars, we have spoken all these words upholding the holy name of the True Parents. Amen.
