Former Headquarters Church.
Today is the day we mark the fourteenth anniversary of the founding of the Association.
When, in the place of commemorating this day, we look back on the seven-year course that has passed, why was such a thing needed?
It is because we are placed in a position of having to restore through indemnity.
The Various Requirements of Indemnity
How must indemnity be carried out?
Indemnity must be carried out beginning with the individual.
Then, having carried out indemnity, what is to be done?
If the thing that is indemnified simply ends as having been indemnified, this becomes something without bottom or end. Having carried out indemnity, one must stand as a being of victory. As for a being of victory, even though one has won, one must not stand in a position of following along after the environment, centered on it.
Unless one appears, from a leading position, representing that environment with the authority of a subjective victor, one cannot be called a being of victory.
The realm of victory through indemnity is that, first, upon the foundation on which the individual has won, the family must win; and upon the foundation on which the family has won, the clan goes on equipping a footing of victory. And so, centered on the clan, the people; centered on the people, the nation; centered on the nation, the world—the history of restoration develops. This is the process by which God’s providential course of restoration has developed up to now.
Then why is indemnity needed for us, and why is victory needed?
It is not because we ourselves today have done wrong. All its sources lie in the fact that these things came about because our ancestors did wrong. We ourselves knew nothing about the need for indemnity.
When we were born, we were born in such a fallen world, as one of the people of the Republic of Korea, as beings ruled by Satan. The very place where we were born is a place that has not crossed beyond the condition of indemnity, a place bearing the destiny of having to tread over and cross the condition of indemnity. Such a destiny began with Adam and Eve, the ancestors of humankind.
In carrying out indemnity, a substitute will not do. You must know that, to indemnify the sin committed, neither one’s neighbor nor even one’s own son will do.
Then who must do it?
It cannot be indemnified without setting up that one Person who can stand in the place of the original ancestor of humankind.
When fallen human beings in today’s fallen world wish to be saved, what kind of person must the representative and the one bearing responsibility be who can save them? One famous worldwide as the ruler of a nation will not do, nor will one of Heaven’s appointed of any age, a prophet.
The person who must bear the central responsibility of indemnity must come having inherited, in place, the responsibility of the ancestor from the inner side (裏面). Without such a One, the condition of worldwide victory cannot be decided.
The fall was brought about by the ancestors of humankind, and thereafter, human beings continued to fail. To clear away this failure and win, there must be a being who can stand in place of the position of the ancestor of humankind.
It is the mission that the many religions of the world must perform, to seek such a One and introduce Him before humankind. Centered on the ideal that the conscience aims at, they must gather humankind from around the world into one.
To gather this, to what standard must the self be perfected?
As a descendant of the ancestors of humankind, one must settle the whole bundle of sin. Without that, the self cannot be perfected.
The substitute who is to become the ancestor of humankind must come to this earth carrying on the lineage from the heavenly world. Otherwise, He cannot fully indemnify and set up the realm of victory.
What was the standard by which Jacob set up the authority of victory called “Israel”? It was not the standard of a parent, nor the standard of a son, but the standard of a servant.
And why did Jacob wrestle with the angel at the ford of the Jabbok?
It was because the Archangel had caused the human being to fall, so the human being fought the angel who stood in place of the Archangel, subdued the angel, and thereby set up the authority of victory.
So, setting up Israel centered on the spiritual standard, the spiritual standard Israel was carried on down the generations (繼代), forming a substantial realm of Israel.
Yet even the Israelite people, who had possessed the spiritual-standard realm of Israel, perished again and again whenever they failed to set up the authority of victory at the substantial standard—that is, from Abel’s position.
The Adopted Son and the Only Begotten Son
Then what is the history of Christianity up to today, and what is the thought of the chosen people?
The history of Christianity was a history of setting up the adopted son upon the foundation of the servant. He is a son, but not a son of the direct line. He was an adopted son—an adopted son! The adopted son does, of course, have the right of inheritance to receive the parents’ property. But the adopted son and the children of the direct line are fundamentally different.
The adopted son’s blood lineage is different. This is why the adopted son must cut off his blood lineage and be grafted, converting it into the blood lineage of the direct line.
That the blood lineage is different means that the father is different. Therefore, the human being, born with a blood lineage whose father is different, cannot indemnify sin except through the original, unfallen parents. Do you understand?
This is why, up to today, history has connected things, centered on the ideal of religion, until that one Person came who is entitled to become the unfallen original ancestor.
Christianity today has become a worldwide religion. They say that one goes to heaven only by believing in Jesus, and that without believing, one cannot go.
Just who is this Jesus?
Christians say he is the Savior of all people. Then Buddhism or Confucianism will say, “We too are worldwide religions, so what is this about saving all people centered on Christianity alone?”
In any case, Buddhism and Confucianism are also religions Heaven specially set up to bind together the cultures of East and West. They are religions that represent a history that could bear responsibility as the worldwide Abel or as the adopted son. But in Buddhism and Confucianism, the ancestor of humankind did not appear.
That sin and evil set out upon this earth was because the original ancestor of humankind fell, so one must come forth who can, from a position of taking responsibility for this and indemnifying it, say, “I am the ancestor of humankind.”
And so the One who claimed, “I am the only begotten Son of God,” is Jesus.
This one phrase is a new chosen-people watchword that sets world history in motion. Furthermore, this phrase, “the only begotten Son of God,” means that Jesus is different from the people of the world.
The phrase “only begotten Son” appears in the Bible.
The fact that the phrase “only begotten Son” appeared within the gospel, the Word that Jesus proclaims, has become the origin from which a new age can set out upon this earth today, and the foundation from which a new world can set out.
Jesus, Who Came as the Second Adam
If we compare the truth Jesus taught with the words of other religions, they differ.
Other religions teach the morality of the nation and humankind, and teach content concerning the spiritual world.
For example, Buddhism teaches the spiritual world, and Confucianism teaches the ethics of human relations concerning society. These taught the governing of the earth and the method of governing (治理法) concerning the spiritual world. But Jesus set out holding a standard concerning love, the lineal origin by which one family can be established.
This position is superior to Christianity or other religions.
Jesus came to this earth and called God “my Father.” He said, “The Father is in me, and I am in the Father.” This, in the end, speaks of everything becoming altogether one. It means that father and son must have a relationship of parent and child in which blood and flesh are intertwined and they can move as one body.
The truth of Christianity is simple. God is the Father, and Jesus is the bridegroom. Therefore, Jesus, the bridegroom, must greet a bride. And we, as the sons and daughters of God, are brothers to one another. Such a Father and bridegroom and bride, and sons and daughters, must become one and clear away the satanic world.
If we look at the process of history up to now, Jesus came as the ancestor of humankind. Because Adam fell and failed, Jesus came as the second Adam.
Such a Jesus had to, upon this earth, centered on God, greet a bride from the position of bridegroom and form a husband and wife, and had to become the True Parent of humankind. The providence had been carried out in reverse.
Originally, had Adam and Eve not fallen, they would have become the parents of humankind and realized a world centered on God. Yet by reason of their falling, they became false parents ruled by Satan. Therefore, the True Parents, whom God had originally sought to set up as the ideal of creation, were lost. The true ancestors of humankind were lost.
True Parents and False Parents
Today, countless humans live on Earth. But people are not the descendants of the original true parents. They are descendants born carrying the fallen lineage. So they can only be adopted sons—adopted sons!
The tree planted with hard toil became a wild olive tree. The outside is glossy. The flower that blooms is the same too. But when the fruit forms, it turns out different.
This can become nothing but eagle food or some other food. That is, because it was born carrying the blood lineage of the false parents, its root is wrong. You feel grieved, do you not?
Then what are you waiting for?
The blood lineage of the false parents must be pulled out. This blood flowing in the body is the enemy’s blood. The enemy’s blood has entered my body.
Does that feel good?
When I was born, the enemy’s blood was flowing in me. I was born receiving that enemy’s blood from a grandfather of some generations back.
Then who is the one who will pull out this blood?
Since our ancestors were born receiving the enemy’s blood, there is no one who can draw out this blood except a person who is a new ancestor having received the lineage of Heaven.
If a person who is not a new ancestor having received the lineage of Heaven tries to pull out that blood, Satan will say, “Hey, you rascal! You have your ancestor, so what are you?”
Though several billion people live in this world, none of them is the issue. The only issue is the True Parents, this one Person. Is it not so?
These days, even the common heterodox ways (雜道) speak of the parents of heaven and earth and such, and they knew it well. Why does the term parents of heaven and earth arise? It is because those parents exist.
What is the han (한) of the human being?
That when one is born, one is born a fake—that is the han.
Is a fake destiny good or bad?
The shape, of course, is glossy. It is sleek, and the outward appearance is fine, and there are times when the fake is even more lustrous. But it is a fake lot.
Yet the fake, too, is not a pure fake. Coming down through the blood of thousands of generations of false parents, all manner of miscellaneous things have been mixed in. That is, it is a joint-stock company born by compounding the blood of the false parents. Such things are bustling about. Think about it.
What is so good about such a world that they all live out their full span (命) up to now and even eat, saying they are eating something? Think about it. How disgusting it is, is it not?
When will you settle this fake bundle? Do you not have such a mind?
If one eye cannot see, one must either pluck out that eye or fix it. If God exists, He must teach a method by which such a thing can be corrected. And so religion came forth.
God did not make hell out of much envy or jealousy. He made hell a disposal warehouse where the fake, having arisen, can be dealt with.
Who first makes a trash bin and then builds a house?
For example, one buys good vegetables to make kimchi, but in making it, when something like worm-eaten outer leaves comes out, it gets put in the trash bin. The fall was committed by the original ancestor of humankind (宗之祖上).
This is why, to indemnify this and settle the sin, it is possible only by qualifying the True Parents. You must clearly know this.
What kind of religion can become a worldwide religion?
A religion that is realized, centered on God’s love, is a worldwide religion. There is no other religion apart from Christianity. It is not that the Teacher does this work because he likes Christianity. Having come to know the circumstance, it is so.
Faith Is to Walk the Path of Indemnity of Oneself
Heaven’s side always struck only after being struck. To strike after being struck is self-defense, not a sin. Up to now, Heaven’s side has been struck first, but the side that struck first has lost again and again.
In the First World War, too, the nations that struck first lost, and in the Second World War, too, the nations that struck first lost. Look at the relationship between America and the Soviet Union these days, too. America is being struck again and again.
Not long ago, too, big America took a blow, centered on little Vietnam, did it not?
Now Heaven’s side must switch to an offensive operation. When it reaches the stage where the Lord comes and judges, He unfolds a worldwide offensive operation. Only when the Lord comes can He judge this earth. It is not arranged so that Satan’s side can always take up sword and gun and strike Heaven’s side.
The good person is always robbed and yet says it is good. He has lived a life close to a worm in the trash bin, suffering wretchedly. The person who shows such a posture of operation is a person who walks the path of the Way (道).
Having had everything robbed away by the enemy Satan, moreover, Satan’s blood has entered the body. The blood of the enemy Satan must be stabbed with a knife and drawn out. Even though the breath gasps, one must stab with a knife, just short of dying, and draw it out.
If this blood of the enemy Satan remains, if it is in a position to sway one’s vital force this way and that (左之右之), the Teacher will have none of it. This must be wholly destroyed (全破). To do such work is the religious life. The religious life is to strike the satanic flesh.
These days, the lot who say it is fine to drink, fine to smoke, this is so and that is so, have all become Satan’s next-door cousins.
Religion is the relentless denial of the environment. Religion set out from a place of denial.
A religion that comes forth centered on the heart (심정) is the religion that wins in the end. Is it not so?
If, in any case, one must do the work of denying as one comes through the long process of history, one must become a wise person who can deny everything at once.
One must deny the individual, the family, the nation, the world. One must become qualified to be able to say only, “God is my Father, and I must take responsibility for that Father’s anguish and fight.”
Then who will carry out the indemnity?
Seen by the Principle, it is arranged that one passes through the age of the servant’s indemnity and enters the age of the adopted son’s indemnity. The one that sets up this realm of the adopted son’s indemnity is Israel.
So what was accomplished upon the foundation that set out as a servant and won for the Israelite people?
Therefore, the one who has entered the realm of the people has entered the realm of the adopted son. Centered on such an Israelite people, one must cross over into the realm of the direct-line son.
In crossing over, one cannot cross over by oneself alone. To cross over it, there must be one true olive tree. This true olive tree, in the process of world history, can settle sin and evil upon the foundation of the thought of the chosen people.
The one set up as such a true olive tree is Jesus Christ. The true olive tree having at last come, one must, centered on Him, carry out the movement of cutting branches and grafting.
So Christianity must do the work of grafting. Jesus said, “I am the vine, you are the branches.” (John 15:5)
Jesus’ blood lineage is different from Satan’s blood lineage. Jesus came to this earth in a direct lineal blood relationship with God.
Jesus, who came representing such a standard of the original creation, must be able to break down the wrong origin of the ancestors of humankind, who ruined this history. Without firmly establishing such a thing upon this earth, salvation is absolutely impossible.
To realize the Kingdom of Heaven on earth, the world of peace, equality, and peace, while simply living in this state upon this earth, is no more than a dream.
Then what is most needed upon this earth?
Is it the coming forth of God’s beloved servant?
Is it the coming forth of God’s beloved adopted son?
A servant is needed, of course. When a fight breaks out with the enemy of the neighboring village, one’s own household servant is needed, of course. But the adopted son is better than the servant. Yet what is really needed is not the adopted son but the true son—the true son, not the adopted son!
There is a need for one who comes bearing the mission of such a son—one who, as God’s direct line, does away with the fallen realm of sin and holds the absolute authority that no sin and evil can invade.
Seen from the human world, one must meet an eldest brother centered on God’s heart.
Who is that eldest brother?
It is Jesus who cried out, “Ah, I am the only begotten Son.”
When, in the human world, that eldest brother subdues Satan, makes the adopted sons into direct-line sons, and fully carries out his responsibility as a direct-line son, then his responsibility as the eldest brother ends, and he at last rises to the position of parent.
But because the Israelite people did not carry out their responsibility, what became of Jesus?
Though God said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased,” he could not become one with whom God was well pleased.
How could he have become one with whom God was well pleased?
When Jesus died on the cross, what did he say?
It was, “My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46).
The meaning is that God could not but forsake Jesus. Is this a result God could rejoice in?
Jesus prayed in the garden of Gethsemane,
“My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as Thou wilt.” (Matthew 26:39).
Could God, hearing that prayer, indeed have rejoiced?
Jesus could not become a son in whom God rejoiced, a beloved son.
The Resurrected Jesus and the Third Adam
Then why did such a result come about? It was because the Israelite people did not carry out their responsibility.
Can one receive salvation by believing in Jesus, who bore the cross?
The Unification Church does not say to believe in Jesus, who died on the cross, but to believe in the resurrected Jesus and receive salvation. Salvation is not done by the cross on which Jesus was hung and died. It is done by the resurrected Jesus. Yet the people who say they believe in Jesus all believe upside down.
Because Jesus’ dying meant he could not carry out Abel’s mission, this uncarried-out mission must be gathered again.
So God sought and set up the realm of the adopted son from the servant, and from here, centered again on Christianity, formed the Second Israel. Upon that foundation, awaiting the one day of the Second Advent, He has led on a history of struggle for two thousand years.
Then, in what form does the Lord who is to come hereafter come?
Jesus came as the second Adam, but the Lord who is to come hereafter comes as the third Adam.
Why must the third Adam come?
It is because this earth has gone wrong. It is because an accident has occurred upon this earth, and this must be repaired. A new owner who is not broken, who can repair this, must come. Therefore, you must await the new owner coming and repairing what has gone wrong.
Who is the third Adam?
He is the One who comes a third time upon this earth bearing the name of the ancestor of humankind.
Let Us Pioneer the Path of Happiness
What state are human beings in on this earth today?
The history of sin and evil, twisted by the fight of Cain and Abel that broke out in the blood relations of Adam’s family, has developed worldwide up to today.
Yet up to now, the sin and evil have not been settled. Then who must settle it? The fallen Adam and Eve cannot settle it. It must be an unfallen ancestor. It must be an unfallen Adam.
Then what becomes of all things?
That Adam comes and, together with human beings, leads even all things up to the place of the Kingdom of Heaven. In the Kingdom of Heaven, one enjoys happiness in a place of joy more than anyone upon this earth.
What is happiness?
It is for people, like orphans who have lost their parents, to find their parents after six thousand years. Where else is there a thing more joyful than this?
To have a religion is to take part in such work of finding the parents. The parents' one thought was dead, dead forever, but can live.
If the parents can live, we cannot be choosy about means and methods. In finding the parents, is property the issue? Are relatives the issue?
Is the nation, the world, the issue?
Nothing, whatever, is the issue. Setting everything aside, one must give every loyalty to the work of finding the parents. Is it not so even in the world?
Where is there a child who, while his parents are dying, clings to land or money and makes merry?
If the original parents, centered on the bond of one’s original nature, whom one thought were dead, could revive again, then to pioneer that path myself, one must put in unspeakable devotion. And one must, more than anyone, feel the sorrow of Heaven with a breast torn in pain and, from the very place of feeling that injustice and indignation, give loyalty.
With such a mind, one must pave the path by which the parents can come back to life. That is the duty of a child, and the standing in the place of a filial son. This is our responsibility. Therefore, regardless of life and death, one must pioneer this path.
Regardless of the good things in the world, the persecution of the world, and even the path of death, one must hold the bond of loyalty and filial piety to pioneer this path.
This is why Christianity has a history of martyrdom that offers up life. In this way, inheriting an altar that has shed blood, it is building the altar of the individual, the altar of the family, the altar of the people, and the altar of the world.
Here, by setting up the realm (圈) of being blessed and the realm of being protected for the people who can offer themselves up to Heaven as an offering, the ideal of Christianity has been developed up to today. Having come to know, we are people, yes, but orphans who have lost their parents. Orphans, I say.
Originally, had those parents not fallen, what would have become of them?
The Adam in Adam’s family becomes the clan head. At the same time as becoming the clan head, he becomes the head of the people. He also becomes the representative of the nation and becomes Adam, the king. Therefore, this world would have been unified into one by Adamism. The trifling isms must all be cast off. Since trifling isms have come forth and are throwing the world into confusion, we must pull out all such isms by the very root.
An American pig and a Korean pig both alike go oink, and the sparrow too alike goes chirp, so why are human beings, the lords of all things, in this state? It is neither the language of pigs nor the language of cattle…. Even traveling around dozens of nations, in each place I go, the language is different.
Even getting a bit of food to eat is truly hard! Even becoming a mute, one becomes an utter mute.
Who made such a result?
In a word, it is because of the fall. What lord of all things is a human being who cannot unify even language into one, who cannot use even one kind of language? How indignant a thing it is! There are truly many appalling things.
The ism too Adam’s ism, the language too Adam’s language, the culture too Adam’s culture, the tradition too Adam’s tradition, the way of living too Adam’s way of living, the institutions too Adam’s institutions—in any case, everything had to become the ideological institutions of the Adam nation. Such an ism is God-ism. Because one must become one with God by God’s mind, it is God-ism.
The Unification Church, Which Has Come Forth Holding Cosmos-ism
So today the Unification Church has come forth holding Cosmos-ism (천주주의). The mere fact that such a God-ism has already come forth is a thing to be grateful for.
If your parents had died, and by cutting off one hand and offering it, the parents would live again, could you cut off your hand and offer it?
If you could offer it, where would you cut? The left hand? — The person who hesitates to cut, saying that, is an unfilial child. Even if told to cut off and offer just one finger, he says, “Ah, this left finger? This much?”
Since wherever you cut it is all the same, cut off this whole hand, completely, down to the tendons, and offer it—that is what I mean. Do you have such gumption? Tsk, tsk—so the people who believe are all good-for-nothings.
Such fellows band together worldwide and carry on trivially. Orthodoxy: What is orthodox? This must all be smashed to pieces. It must be pushed away all at once.
When one thinks of God’s distressed heart, which, suppressing the heart of the han of sixty million, awaited the one day of restoration, it is unbearably indignant.
Jesus came to this earth holding such a responsibility and mission, to set up the Kingdom of Heaven, the world of goodness, but he died without speaking a single word. You know this, do you not? We must know this.
Apostles, you say? What sort of apostles are apostles?
The ones who said “I don’t know” when Jesus was about to die. They all thought only of themselves and wished only to become the minister of the left and the minister of the right in the Lord’s kingdom—is it not appalling?
Even in the world of gangsters, even in the world of beggars, deeds of laying down one’s life for the sake of righteousness occur; how much more so when people who say they are doing something centered on the Way and the righteousness and the goodness of Heaven are in such a state—when one thinks of it, it is an indignant thing.
That the One who, after four thousand years, came at last upon this earth holding the title of the True Parent of humankind, should die driven out by Satan. At last, when he died, he was hung upon the cross with robbers on his left and right.
Jesus, who had come to form a bond with this earth, had no choice but to cast away the bond and depart. That he said to the repentant robber on his right upon the cross, “Today you will be with me in Paradise.” (Luke 23:43)—it is an appalling fact. An appalling fact.
Jesus died without resolving his han, with such a sorrowful heart. This is why—who knew Jesus’ distressed heart, which could not but gather this up again?
Because today’s Christianity arose upon a foundation ignorant of this, the Christians too did not know this feeling of Jesus. Ignorant Christians, these blockheads! What doctorate? What is this and that? They ought to be smashed to bits!
Where shall one go to find the lost True Parents?
Unless the True Parents come forth, true brothers are no more than a dream. A dream, I say. If there were true brothers without the True Parents, that is truly a fake. A fake. Can there be true brothers when there are no True Parents?
Clearly, there can be no true brothers or true children. Is it not so? Before the true parents come forth, one cannot find true love either, and one cannot live a true life. Without true parents, one cannot build a true nation of happiness either.
The ideal, perfect standard God originally desired is established upon this earth together with the name of the True Parents, who have inherited true goodness.
Only when there are children who, centered on those True Parents, have formed a bond of true lineage is that standard at last established. It is not established with only fallen children. Fallen children, of all things, going about giving and wearing and carrying on the back and embracing—my, what a fine sight. A fine sight.
America and Korea Seen Through the Providence
As the Teacher traveled around the forty-eight states of America, even just glancing at its roads, I could tell it was a rich nation. Among the places I traveled, the border region where the states of Arizona, Nevada, and California adjoin is a mountainous area, and there is a great canyon here, and a river flows. From the time the Earth was formed tens of thousands of years ago, when rain came, the rainwater gathered into one place and began to flow as a river.
So this valley was formed, and later the mountain range was cut through by the river water. The width of the river here is about 150 to 200 meters, and this valley down which the water flows is all of blue stone; now they have dammed this river water and made a dam, using it as a power station.
This dam is the Hoover Dam. As for how high this dam is, it is 172 meters. And about 300 million dollars went into the construction cost of this dam. It is a dam known as a worldwide construction project in the latter half of the twentieth century.
So the Teacher looked into how much cement was used for that dam. From San Francisco to Washington is a road one must travel a week, running six hours a day at a hundred miles an hour, and this road is paved entirely with cement. As much cement as went into making this road went into the dam, they say.
In any case, the nation called America was a great nation. But why is Korea so small? The Teacher’s gumption is bigger than America’s, so why was I born in such a small Korea? Though my ancestors also lived here. In any case, in America, one could not find a single winding road. They are well laid out and straight.
If you just hold the wheel, it goes well, but in Korea, every road is winding and crooked, so it is hard even for the drivers to drive.
If one looks at Korea today, they say this and that about its land of embroidered rivers and mountains, but if you go to a place called a scenic spot and step into a slightly secluded corner, the smell strikes your nose so badly you cannot help but hold it.
But the scenic spots of America are clean everywhere, so one can park the car and view them pleasantly. As for the lawns too, they are all fine turf, so when you get out of the car and pass through such soft, springy places, it feels excellent.
Just looking at it feels good. When you ride in a car and run more than a hundred miles a day, your back aches.
When you get out of the car and rest upon the lawn, it feels perfect. Such a thing cannot be tasted anywhere except in the land of America. And one cannot describe how splendidly the roads are laid out.
Because Korea’s land is narrow, even when factory buildings are built, they are built high. Of course, there are places in America too where the factory chimneys are remarkable.
But if you look at the majority of factories, two- and three-story factories are rare, and they are single-story factories. And in the fields where they have technical difficulty, they always research the technology of that field and inform people of it.
Johnson, the president of such an America, is without a doubt also a descendant born of the fallen ancestor. The descendants born of the fallen ancestor are all fakes. They are fakes who must bow their heads before the real.
If the poorest laborer in a slum of Korea were to know and attend the real Parents first, ahead of President Johnson of America, which of the two would become the elder brother?
If there were a child who, clutching the real Parents, ran to them saying, “Are you not my mother, my father?” the real Parents could not push him away. If one enters a place of having met the real Parents ahead of President Johnson, then whether one lives in a tent house or whatever house, it is all right.
Even if one sleeps in the most wretched place, in the end one becomes the elder brother of those who live luxuriously, commanding the world from America. The Korean people, having met the real Parents first, become the elder brother. You have now understood this, have you not? “Yes.”
America, a Place Where the Heart Has Dried Up
If you look at the eyes of the Unification Church people, they are a little different from those of ordinary people.
If you look at their outward appearance, they seem wretched, but their eyes are different. It is because they know such things. But when I think of it, there are times it feels bad. The thought comes, why did the Teacher teach them? Had I not taught them, they would obey well…. Having taught them, they do not obey, I say.
If you go to certain places in America, there are houses like those in the pictures. They have built houses in fine scenic spots, houses like pictures, made to harmonize with the scenery of that scenic spot.
However far the road one must go, when one sees such houses, the thought arises to take even a nap there before going on. It is not a sin to have such a thought. You may not have such a thought, but the Teacher does.
When I pass by such a place in a car, I sometimes stop the car and have my mind taken away by it for a while. Wondering through whose hands that house was built, and who lives in it.
But such houses are houses where the lot who, having received Satan’s blood lineage, cannot be approved before Heaven, live saying it is good. This is why that place is not a place Heaven can rejoice in.
The place where such people lie down and sing songs and live is not a place that Heaven rejoices in, that the heavenly armies and angels and tens of millions of saints welcome. It is not a place of which one can say, “Oh, blessed resting place! A place from which the dream and song of happiness can flow for a thousand, ten thousand years.”
When one beholds the figure of those who, not knowing the law of heavenly principle, move within the realm of evil sovereignty, and beholds such an environment, it is a place where God wishes to resolve the han bound up against the enemy.
America is a place dried up, withered in heart. But Korea is still a place where one can find even a comrade with whom one can clasp hands and shed tears together and console one another. It is a place that has become a foundation of the heart where, sharing a few words of one’s story, one can embrace and shed tears.
However good America may be to live in, seen through the lens of God’s original heart, it has not become material for God’s joy and has not approached the symbol of glory.
When God beholds the land of America thus swept into one pit of sorrow and lamentation, it is an appalling thing. The Teacher once prayed at the Empire State Building in New York. It is the building said to be the highest in the world, built by America’s brilliant culture.
I said, “Hey, you building! In this sinful land of New York, how many people form a bond with Heaven centered on you? I will make you receive indemnity!”
However much one searched and dug through the land of New York, when the True Parents, who can commune with God’s original heart, come to this earth, no one could form a true blood bond and become a son or daughter.
When one asked whether there was even one among the some eight million citizens of New York, there was none. Digging through all the 120 million American people, there was none.
Before there were American people, the owner of America was God. Before there were Indians, too, the owner was God. Therefore, the person God loves most becomes the owner of America.
The Teacher, going to America, felt displeased in his heart to see women going about in revealing clothes. Women go freely into any restaurant in such a state, but men cannot enter even in the dog days of summer heat without wearing a suit and tie. It felt terrible.
The so-called Teacher of the Unification Church, too, is an Oriental, but Westerners regard Orientals as quite laughable. So the Teacher, traveling around the forty-eight states of America, prayed and vowed.
Just you wait and see…. However luxurious a life they live, it has no relation to God’s providential history of restoration. That America, with a background of history less than two hundred years, has come to dominate the cultural realm of the world is undoubtedly because Heaven blessed it—because, in that grief of old, it sacrificed and served for the sake of Heaven above all and fully carried out its responsibility in the position of an offering on the providential course Heaven intended. But among the present young generation, who ought to sustain that, there is not a single person who can overturn the society that is going to ruin. In this sense, the Unification Church is needed. The Teacher is needed. America must come to its senses.
Let Us Believe the Religion of the Parents
God, to carry out the providence of restoration centered on the three billion of humankind in the world today, sends the True Parents to this earth.
Now, are there Christians prepared to be able to become filial sons and filial daughters before those True Parents, or not? And yet, saying they will believe and go to heaven, on the Lord’s Day they say, “Let us go to church! Let us go to church!” But do you think you will go to heaven simply by believing in Jesus unconditionally? The Lord must come again. Because the human beings upon the earth were born receiving the blood lineage of the fallen parents, they must be born again.
This is why Jesus said to Nicodemus, “Unless you are born again, you cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven.”
What we call the seven-year course in our church, or whatever course, is all an indemnity course. To carry out indemnity, the person for it is needed, a period is needed, and a conditional object is needed.
Why is such a thing needed?
To carry out indemnity, what must be done? By laying down the bridge for the True Parents to come, one must make it so that, when the True Parents come, there is nothing to obstruct.
The Garden of Eden is the Kingdom of Heaven of freedom. In that heaven and earth, no one would oppose. Only God moves about, and only love can dwell. The Garden of Eden was a resting nest where there was only peace and happiness.
Because God had to set up the lost original standard, He had to pave the path of restoration even while undergoing sorrow. And so the ones mobilized to make it possible to pave the path by which the Lord could come are precisely the many religious people upon this earth. Even though they were religious people sent to bear such a mission, they think only of themselves.
Shakyamuni too said, “In heaven and on earth, I alone am the honored one,” and did that work. Such religions are religions that bear the responsibility of the adopted son and perform a worldwide mission.
Of course, it would be good to believe such a religion too, but more than that, one must believe the religion of the true Parents.
The Unification Church is cursed and pointed at, but what must be done?
We, who pride ourselves on being the wisest and the cleverest, say: let us not believe a trifling religion of the adopted son.
Let us believe in the religion of the True Parents, which Jesus desired, one step ahead of Jesus. This is the Unification Church. Is that worth believing, then? The Teacher who speaks here came to know such a thing too. If you pray, it all teaches you.
To Attend the Lord
The purpose for which God has led on six thousand years of history was to find the lost original, true foundational ancestor. We must know this.
Then how, and where, will that One come?
Through what path and to what nation will He come? This is the question. It would be nice if He came to America, would it not? But, painfully, He comes to this land of Korea. God hears the prayers of those who entreat with a sorrowful heart.
If he went to a place well-fed and well-off, it would be a foregone conclusion. Even in the world, if one’s child is crippled, one thinks more of that child, does one not? God’s love is arranged in this way.
Then where must the Lord come?
Where would you like the Lord to come? A Korean will say to come to Korea, and an American to come to America. Would an American pray, “O Lord! Go to Korea”? Would an Englishman pray, “O God! Though Thou lovest our England, send the Lord to Korea. Anyone who will simply pray, “O Lord! Come to our nation, to my inner room, to my heart.”
All the people who pray like this are thieves. Having made this earth a filthy hell, they say, “O Lord! Come quickly.” Such people, according to their greed, as they please, say, “O Lord! Come here, come there.” “Oh dear, how pitiable God is.” Can it be so? If the Lord came to the place they wished, what would they do?
Those who came to the Unification Church for the first time today will not know the Teacher well. Those who saw the Teacher for the first time today, raise your hand once. Where would you like the Lord to come?
If you pray, “O God! The land of Korea is driven this way and that, and the path these people have walked for five thousand years is complex in content; but come here!” And the Lord comes; what will you do? In which room will you attend Him? Will you attend Him in a three-room thatched cottage? Well, there is indeed a fine song that goes, “Build a three-room thatched cottage, set the two parents in it….” But though the words are splendid, the content is wretched. When the Teacher prays, have you seen him pray, “Oh, O God! May Thou bring it to pass in Korea”?
Did the Teacher do so, or not? Or would he have said, “O God! Evening has come, so forget the morning mood and just come in the evening mood”?
Compared to the world, how many Christians are there in Korea, at most? Going to America and looking into it, all 120 million were Christians. Christians with the label attached, I mean. But in Korea, adding up Catholics, Protestants, and even the believers who wear a mere shell of a title, it comes to only about 2.5 million, was it? In fact, if one looks closely, it does not even reach this number. In such a state, in every nation of the world, they say they love God. Is it so, or not?
Now! You gathered here love God, do you not?
How do you love Him? You do not know this. You do not know how one must love to love. Those who have come to know this, even if told not to come to church, are bound to come rushing out. You have not yet tasted that flavor. Because the Teacher these days has not preached or guided, you do not know that flavor. Whether it is the fourteenth anniversary of the founding of the Association or whatever, you may think it a matter unrelated to yourself. But you must pray.
How must one pray?
One must pray with a mind that awaits God. Even while praying, one must know whether God will go to America, or to England, or where He will go. In order to turn His footsteps toward Korea, one must make God unable to budge. Is it not so?
If God comes to Korea, what sort of person will He come to? One must know through what blood lineage God will send the Lord. How refreshing it would be to become such a person!
The Lord Is Equipped with the Power to Fight Even Heaven and Win
Here, Teacher Moon of the Unification Church must, in the Teacher’s own generation, receive the persecution of three religious bodies. That is, he must receive persecution from the three religious bodies of Buddhism, Confucianism, and Christianity. For the Will to be realized, more than 1.2 million must be persecuted. They must all oppose.
Of course, Korea, too, must be mobilized for this. Such opposition must mobilize even the spiritual world. In the spiritual world, the ancestors who have come and gone upon this earth over thousands of years up to now are all gathered in one place—how many would that number be? Several billion? Several hundred billion?
How many would it be?
The countless spirit-persons all wish the Will of God to be realized through their people, through their nation.
All these things they wish for must be judged. They must all be voted down. Unless one paves the foundation on which they can be voted down, one cannot attend God. So we must, for the sake of God, become one and fight even the spiritual world.
Unless one is equipped with unifying content, the Kingdom of Heaven on earth will absolutely not be realized. Whether the spiritual world or the physical world, no matter which, all oppose.
Here, one must have real power. It is a battle of real power. Therefore, one must put in devotion. Jesus prayed three times in the garden of Gethsemane, staking his life as he crossed over.
Just as Jesus prayed three times, you too must do so. Jesus prayed distressed, but God’s original Will was not such a path.
Therefore, we must go forward carrying on a question-and-answer with Jesus. Do you understand what I mean?
One must, through a question-and-answer with Shakyamuni, Confucius, and Muhammad, settle the matter by negotiation.
Since the Principle and the principles are arranged so, one must wage a battle of real power even into the spiritual world. One must fight the spiritual world and fight the earth and win.
One must fight the spiritual world and win, and without seizing the supremacy of victory by fighting the satanic world on earth, one cannot attend God. Because there is such content, Teacher Moon of the Unification Church must make all the world’s spirit-communing people into his disciples.
Do you understand what I mean?
Those who came out for the first time today will say, “Eh, what does that mean?” but now go back and seek a spirit-communing person and ask once what kind of person Teacher Moon of the Unification Church is. Even those who attain the Way, once they come to know our Principle, move within the Principle.
The Way the Lord Can Be Attended in Korea
As Pastor Lee said this morning, too, well, really! Among the lot of the Unification Church, too, there are many good-for-nothing fellows. There are many cheap fellows, I say. They all have artificial eyes fitted in, so they do not know. They will say that Teacher Moon of the Unification Church is advertising himself.
In fact, the Teacher may well advertise himself. In shedding tears for the sake of the nation, the Teacher loses to no one. The tears I shed for the capital city of Seoul from the time I was a boy of ten alone are beyond reckoning. I fought even going to Japan. In loving the nation, I lose to no one.
How can a person who cannot love his nation love God?
The bygone day when the Teacher went down weeping for seven or eight hours to board the Busan–Shimonoseki ferry (釜關) is fresh in mind. Even reckoning only from twenty years ago, the steps I marked out passed at one time through a path called that of a hero and at one time through a path of being opposed by betrayers, so that today I have become, in name and in fact, the one responsible for the Unification Church.
Consider why Teacher Moon of the Unification Church must be testified to in the spiritual world. It is because, on the inside of it, God’s love is hidden.
So, on the day anything, whatever, gets caught in the Teacher’s hand, it goes down. Even God cannot budge or oppose.
If this seems like a lie and you cannot believe it, then stake your neck and pray for about forty days.
You wish the Lord to come, do you not?
Then one must become a filial son and attend the Lord—but who will attend Him? The nation that attends Him, that is, the nation from which that one Person comes forth—that nation becomes, by reason of that One, a nation that can rule the world. It governs the world and becomes the ancestor of all the nations of the world. History seeks one person again because one person made a mistake.
People say that the way of life in Korea resembles the way of life of the Jews. And the spirit-communing Christians in Korea say that the Lord will surely come to Korea. That a label has been attached saying the Lord can come to Korea — it sounds like boasting, but it is because there is a person called Teacher Moon of the Unification Church. You must know this.
Though they say that if one prostrates and prays, saying, “Thus and so in Israel, thus and so in Korea, the Lord will come, do they even know how the Lord comes?
When day has broken and the sun has risen, anyone can see the sun. But by then, it is already too late. In this way, there are many who, not knowing the time and direction of the Lord’s coming, fail to seize the fortune and make a fuss.
There are nations too where many people suffered sacrifice for the sake of God and put in much devotion; how, then, was it possible to attend the Lord in Korea? This is the merit of the Unification Church. The Unification Church is the owner.
Even having entered the Unification Church and saying they came to know the great Will, when told to go the seven-year course, there have been many such unsightly things, dawdling and saying, “Oh dear, did I not come to the wrong place?” Had it been the world, with the Teacher’s temperament, I would have swept them all clean away. But since God came enduring the han of six thousand years, the Teacher too had to endure and thereby resolve God’s han.
It is well that the Teacher keeps his mouth shut, for he has much to say about this nation. There is still a path remaining to be gone. This is why I do this toil. So when I send them out to do something, they leap out very grandly when they go. But when they come, they slink back so one does not even know when they came, and sit hunched up like this. Truly wretched figures. What is this? Are they not stragglers, if not defeated soldiers? How did people become so?
Even now the Teacher, whether at running or at anything else, loses to no one…. The Teacher of the Unification Church is not so trifling. Even now, nearing fifty years of age, he has the spirit to lose to no one at anything, one-on-one.
The Path This People Must Go
Since the enemies under heaven have not yet disappeared, until I have driven off all these enemies, I cannot die even if I try. I cannot avoid it even if I try. I cannot sleep even if I try.
When can one do it, having eaten all there is to eat?
One must not be bound by eating meals. The Teacher has not eaten lunch yet. What can one do with the leftover time after eating and dressing? Even the satanic world dislikes such doings.
The path of attending God, the great Owner of heaven and earth, is not such a trifling path. So when I see such good-for-nothing fellows, there are many times when it feels bad.
The Teacher knows what will become of these people hereafter. He knows at what level of culture it is, how the worldwide situation will be, and in which direction it flows. So it will not do until one’s heart attitude is ready to keep step with that.
You do not know that the Teacher goes about consoled while thinking of such things, do you?
There are many unsightly things, I say. In fact, when I think of it, I have been cursed many times because of you. The Unification Church- what—they say it dances naked? Well, really! The rumor is well-spread. Had I heard such talk after at least dancing, my ears would feel some satisfaction, but to hear such talk without even having danced…. It is all to the good. Since the rumor has spread that one is fighting while pretending to sleep, how good is that?
What we must do hereafter is to pave the foundation on which the True Parents can be attended and to rally the brothers of the world before that One. And, as forefathers who have borne such responsibility, to do away with the cross and the path of persecution that the descendants would shoulder. This is our original mission.
We must pave a broad, smooth road on which all people can go in peace and happiness. And we must make a highway on which one can run pleasantly at several hundred miles. Even though the later generations do not know who paved it and do not even know how to be grateful, it is our mission to pave such a road.
This is why we must pave a straight, broad, smooth road. Yet in such a narrow Korea, full of mountains and streams, how hard it will be to lay a straight road! Oh my—the Unification Church’s words are good, and its truth is right, but you cannot follow because of the hardship? You petty, spineless fellows! There may be some who have come out for once today, but once you have entered the Unification Church and gotten caught in Teacher Moon’s hand, there is no forgiveness.
The Teacher’s Han
We must go forward holding the authority of Heaven. We must equip ourselves with a figure that can hold all the content Heaven desires and Heaven cannot do alone, and, declaring war before all nations, can boast of it. To set up the authority of Heaven, one must set up the authority of self-mastery, not insist upon and set up one’s own authority.
One must, behind all people, do the clearing-up work and fill in all the rough things of the back alleys. If there is a thorny path, one must remove it; if there is a pit, one must fill it. If there is a stony field, one must clear it and pave the road on which all people can go.
Night or day, whether others curse one or not, one must diligently pave the road. One is in no position to laugh out loud on the spot and rest and untie one’s bundle because someone praises one along the way.
One must know that, even if someone curses, this body of mine cannot gather a faction there and fight and vent its anger. Because one must do work busier than waging a fight against them, one absolutely cannot halt one’s steps.
It is not the Teacher’s han that his footsteps have not traveled all over this land, the whole three-thousand-li peninsula. It is his han that he has not been able to speak, through the Teacher’s own mouth, to the thirty million people.
So the Unification Church says, let us, deliberately standing in the position of a sinner who could not fully carry out responsibility, put in every devotion to finding and breaking through the road. Do you know such a thing?
Yet among the Unification members today, there are truly many gentlefolk. These days, the Teacher goes about wearing a suit, but before, he always went about in a jumper. Even in the cold winter, he went about without warm underwear. This is how it set out. To keep this altar and restore the world, one must set out from such a place.
I must reenact upon this earth the path God came seeking, until now, from a wretched place, to save all people and indemnify it. To stand in place of God’s providence, one must do it from a wretched place.
Even bearing the figure of a wretched plight, one must handle it with a mind of passion and seething, blood-boiling love. Because there is such a responsibility, one must come through such a process.
Not only that, but we have a mission to stand beyond the thirty million people, in place of all the people of the world.
So, bearing the responsibility that, when one opens one’s eyes, all people are within one’s bosom and before one’s eyes, and one must bless them and fight for them, one has been coming forth up to now. This is why the Unification Church will hereafter become a worldwide issue. Just as the Teacher said, things are all working out that way.
Is that not strange?
Up to now cursed and so on…. Others think that this person called Teacher Moon does not really exist, or that, even if he does exist, one cannot see him no matter how one tries, that he lives like a sovereign king who, with a long beard, when he says “You there!” has people answer, “Yes, at your service.”
Even today, the Teacher comes out here and speaks like this, but those who came for the first time, not even knowing that I am Teacher Moon, just think, “It must be some church member,” and go off. I am Teacher Moon of the Unification Church.
The other day, a newspaper reporter came from America, but the Teacher did not meet him individually; we sat together and held the service. Though he sat right beside me, in the end, he could not recognize me and went off.
The Teacher went to Jerusalem, and it had truly become appalling. That holy place where, in the age of the providence of restoration of the old, devotion was offered to God.
What Must We Do
Then what must we do? We must give loyalty for the sake of Heaven. In giving loyalty, where shall we give it?
In the providential course of restoration, God sought a loyal subject, sought a filial son and a filial daughter, and sought a faithful wife. But God did not meet them in the providential course of restoration.
The han of not having found them was driven deep into God’s heart; how shall we console such a God?
One must do the work of entering the very bottom, like a den of beggars, and there resolving God’s han. Centered on God’s heart, enter such a bottom and fight; and if one is ruined, then make your accusation. One absolutely will not be ruined. The Teacher, too, entered such a place and fought but was not ruined. Though countless people struck at me, though a whole people struck, though a whole nation struck, I was not ruined.
Seen in this light, the Unification Church has backing. The Teacher has walked a path of persecution and being driven all his life, but today he envies no one. He regards even America’s Empire State Building as laughable.
Now the Teacher goes about riding an old jeep, but that is not the issue. Even right now, if I wanted to buy ten jeeps, I could buy them.
If I wanted to buy a house, I could buy one. There is nothing the Teacher envies. To be able to do something and yet not do it—that is what is stylish.
Furthermore, the Teacher makes the Unification members suffer, but if that suffering were to begin with suffering and end with suffering and come to ruin, he would not have them do such a thing at all.
It is to make you into people whose suffering can shine long in the annals, whom ten thousand generations can praise, on whose graves flowers can bloom, who can illumine history, that the Teacher drives you out and makes you suffer mercilessly. Therefore, you ought, as is fitting, to suffer.
Our Desire
What is our desire?
It is not a matter of meeting a spouse and living well. It is not a matter of meeting a good spouse and forming a happy family. There remains a grave task we must carry out. There remains a historic foundation of destiny.
What is it?
It is to find the lost bond with the True Parents, who are the origin of human history and the original ancestors. We must draw out the inner story buried within God’s heart of the heavenly world, transfer it to the earthly world, and theorize, organize, and systematize it. And so the matter is to pave a foundation of the heart that all people can commonly understand.
In a nation, politics too is a matter, and economic development too is a great matter. But the greatest matter is how to arm oneself in thought. Whatever thought one arms oneself with, what seeks to arm all people with the highest, most hopeful thought that all people desire is unification thought.
What is the desire that even a prisoner in jail, even a condemned man going to his death, longs for? It is to find the original parents and to find the homeland that one’s original nature aims at—that is, the world of the original nature.
This content is the highest hope that all people can commonly desire and the original standard of purpose that all people must seek. Therefore, whether people of the past, people of the present, or people of the future, without winning this, happiness cannot dwell in that nation. I came to know that this is the law of the heavenly principle.
The Teacher who is speaking here threw away all other things for the sake of this. I forsook even my parents. I did not recognize the parents who gave me birth, and did not recognize my wife and children.
When the Teacher entered prison, it was the age of Japanese imperialism. So at that time, the Teacher was grateful that, rather than going forth into the position of a traitor who betrays the nation, he entered prison instead. Because what the Teacher pursued was too long for the sovereignty of the heavenly kingdom, from the standpoint of those who at that time had a sovereign king and sovereignty in this nation, it was unforgivable. Because it was within the realm of Japanese oppression, one could not set one’s mind at all upon worldly things.
So, forsaking parents, forsaking family, and forsaking all the environments in which one could have risen in the world, I set out on this path to find the lost nation. When such a Teacher beholds the corrupt figure of the Republic of Korea today, it is to a degree he can by no means endure.
We young people fought silently and without a word, restraining our blood-boiling breaths. We toiled in anxiety and struggled, heedless of night and day, to greet that one day when they could recognize our dignity and value, and we could conquer them through the Word of Heaven. As we did so, the achievements we built up came to be such that this nation could not but publicly acknowledge them, and these people could not but acknowledge them. In name and in fact, the Unification members have become a national issue.
If there is a sad thing here, it is that God has not yet been able to make a complete foundation on which He can set foot upon this earth. Therefore, how to make that foundation is what the Teacher desires, what he cannot forget even in his dreams (夢寐). You must clearly know this.
The Person of Heart the Teacher Seeks
The place God has sought upon this earth for over six thousand years is the embroidered land of rivers and mountains of the three-thousand-li peninsula, and the han-laden thirty million people, like pitiful orphans with nowhere to lean.
Whether there is a son in this land who can call out, “Father!” is the question. It is not the desolation of this nation that is the issue. Whether I become a son or not—that is the issue. You must know that.
When God beholds His beloved son wounded, He will apply all the medicine He has prepared. And to His beloved son He will give the food He has prepared—so seek and knock; that is it.
Receiving such public recognition oneself, how many sons and daughters are there in the three-thousand-li peninsula who can clasp hands and shed tears, saying, “My son!” “Father!” Sons and daughters who can pour out the six-thousand-year story of God and resolve His han? The Teacher of the Unification Church is seeking such a person.
The number of such people must be at least one more than in any nation or people of the world. Until that is so, the sovereignty of this cosmic providence of God and the purpose of Heaven’s existence cannot be decided.
We go forward fighting for the sake of this. We have not gathered for the rising of one individual in the world. Nor have we gathered for the happiness and ease of this gathering itself.
The teacher, too, is a person who has a path remaining to go. The battlefield he must fight on remains even larger than yours. From before night came, anticipating that night, I have fought; and in order not to reveal a shameful figure in the morning, I have fought all night long.
If you who have gathered in such a place were to meet that Father today, what mind would you have? You would wish to rest comfortably, would you not? But now is not such a time.
Who is the one who wishes to resolve God’s pent-up han?
With that mindset of loving the people, one must stand at the head in paving the path that the people must follow. One must fully carry out the mission of a pioneer.
Such a han remains, which cannot be found in this world; when shall this han be resolved? If you do not resolve it, the Teacher will resolve it in your place. And so I will go without leaving han before the Father. This is the Teacher’s heart.
As I said, going to the factory today too. Until you come to greet such a day, can you not endure being hungry?
One must set up a foundation of heart on which Heaven’s heart can dwell, and bind one’s own heart to it. And so, from a place where one can pour out one’s essence with the Father, calling “Father!”, the Teacher’s path has been to pray, vomiting blood: “O God! My blood is different from the blood of the forefathers of old. I am not a fellow like those who, harboring a heart of betrayal and resenting God, vomited blood and fell and died.
Have pity not upon me, but pity the people and the nation and the humankind of the world! O Father, help Thou me, that I may resolve the han of the spirit persons in the spiritual world! Set me at the front and open Thou for them the path of their life!”
You must know that such a thought of the Teacher has become a tradition and is coming forth as the subject in the historical course of the Unification Church today.
The Path the Unification Church Must Go
The facts in which Heaven’s heart is intertwined with blood must become like spring water gushing up explosively, and an irrepressible impact, in the inner side of your living, the inner side of your thought, and the inner side of your spirit. The warriors of the Unification Church must become the protagonists of such a life.
The power gained together with such an impact can go on forming the authority that can judge this wicked land of sin. Beholding such a land, restraining an unbearable mind of indignation, one must have a mind to find true sovereignty and follow the Father’s love. Only with such a mind will He bless one as a remnant left before the Father, standing in place of the hope of that nation.
Yet there is still no nation of God upon this earth. There is no land of God. There are no people and clan and family of God. There is no person of God.
Then where has the person of God gone?
If there is no person of God, there can be no family of God; and if there is no family and clan of God, there can be no people of God.
Such a history of wretched destiny blocks the Teacher’s path ahead. But only by spurning such a reality, and in times of crisis, setting up crisis measures and resolving it instantly and crossing over, does such a world gradually recover.
Therefore, you and the Teacher must voluntarily hasten and walk this path. Because this is a step set out not only for myself but to resolve the worldwide matter of life and death, one must not hesitate.
The countless spirit-persons of the spiritual world, who departed leaving han, placing their hope in the history of tomorrow, are placing their hope in the path we go and gazing upon it. When we think of such a fact, we can by no means hesitate.
Now the Teacher is thinking of the providence that must be accomplished, in the national aspect and the worldwide aspect, in the twenty-one-year course following this second seven-year course.
Before Heaven, there is no buying on credit. You must know that there will be the wrath of Heaven upon the one who forgets the position he ought to take before Heaven and seeks his ease.
Looking back on the history that has passed, one must, by making clear the position one can take in the environment of the age, set up a standard by which history awaits a new day and the people of the future can praise me. Bearing this in mind, one must be able to set out anew. You must know that the day of commemoration has such significance.
By doing this, what is it that we seek to do?
We must find and set up my family, my clan, my people, my nation, and my world, which can completely strip away the bond of the True Parents’ indemnity. Such a tremendous mission lies with the Unification Church.
Of course, the Teacher will take responsibility for the path the Unification Church goes, but, greeting this hour today, let us once more pledge our mission. Here lies the significance of marking this day lies the significance of marking this day.
